Three generations of 18 met at villa Sistena and another smaller villa close by Sistena to celebrate college graduations, job promotions, birthdays, and good tidings, this year outside the USA, arriving from Edinburgh, California, New York, Maryland, Virginia, and Florida. Despite complicated logistics, the family voted this stay as their best ever--beauty, wonderful Greek hospitality and endless things to do. Our hosts, including Maria and Nic treated us like family and anticipated our needs and wishes always with a smile. Andreas and his team of assistants made the entire week an effortless blissful tour of the island.
The beautiful large pool was a real crowd pleaser, not heated but very refreshing given the hot spell this summer. We opted to have Maria prepare our meals, which turned out to be another highlight of our stay. Always gracious and inventive in serving up delicious Greek favorites. Just consider doing this for 18 folks (satisfying vegans, vegetarians, and meat eaters) twice a day!.
Beautiful location overlooking the Aegean and a sky full of stars at night on the patio--exquisite. However, the vila is pretty isolated and served by typical single lane roads, which created some white knuckle driving experiences in our stick shift rental. Andreas' crew of transport experts were a great help in moving groups to and from the port. This included one trip to the hospital which turned out to be not serious, but our driver insisted on helping and staying at the hospital so he could take us back--always with a smile.
All in all we all were happy to have experienced our Greek adventure in Villa Sistena and would do so again.
To be fair, the villa is showing signs of age despite the efforts of Nic and Maria. Could use some bath and kitchen updates, and maybe some screens on some of the windows left open at night.
