We had a wonderful stay at Sunnybrae, staying 4 nights in Gannet. The accommodation was excellent- it was spotlessly clean and well equipped (even sharp knives that are often lacking in holiday accommodation!). The holiday home looks out on to the beautiful Cuan sound, where we could relax and watch the world go by as geese, seals and boats made their way through the fast tidal races. The island was perfect for exploring by foot or on bikes, including going to lunch at the Atlantic centre in Cullipool.

The site owners were super helpful and welcoming, from booking and throughout our stay.

We took our own RIB and kept it on the site pontoon during our stay - it was brilliant to be able to just hop on the boat to explore the area without the usual hassle of launching it. We saw a wide range of wildlife on our tours and snorkel in some of the sheltered bays in the area.

We rented two caravans (numbers 1 and 8) for a family holiday and had a fabulous time. The caravans were clean and tidy on arrival, with all the facilities we required as well as fantastic outlook to the Sound of Luing. We had a great week on the island, and hope to go back again next year.

If I could have given a 6 out of 5 for location I would, absolutely stunning place to stay. Mike and Jenn were super helpful with anything we asked for as well and I’ve recommended a trip to Luing to loads of people since I’ve been back.

Don't know where to start - we loved it so much! Location - just 30m from the ever-changing tides on the Cuan Sound with seabirds, occasional seal and (sadly elusive) otters. The caravan was modern, clean, incredibly comfy bed (!!!!), warm duvet, everything you needed for your stay - and a view to die for looking out on the Sound. An unexpected treat was the 'Welcome pack' of tea, coffee, and shortbread - when you've travelled over 6 hours and you finally arrive this was incredibly welcome! Mike and Jenn were wonderful hosts: very friendly people, really good communication from them before our arrival, lots of helpful info on the website (that we made use of) - they were around if we needed them. Huge thank you!

Caravan was very comfortable and warm with a beautiful mesmerising view that made us not want to go anywhere else! Ideal for playing on my paddle board and swimming.

The front window of the caravan faces to Cuan Sound with beautiful views.
One morning while having breakfast I actually observed what I thought where
dolphins rising to the surface for air. They might have been porpoises, because
they looked small for dolphins, and only surfaced one at the time.

There are some great walks to be had and really enjoyed them.

I will most properly book again for next year.

This is a beautiful spot with excellent views to the mainland and interlaced waterways. Very quiet and and peaceful with some nice walking on the island, especially over toward Cullipool. Note, be aware that the only shop on the island is not always able to open as stated due to difficulty in getting staff. The centre and only bistro/restaurant on the island suffers the same problems as the shop.
Excellent and efficient ferry service running almost continuously enables crossing to mainland and other facilities and places of interest.
A great place in good weather !

Well what can I say, stunning location with excellent service levels and an accommodating welcome. Facilities served very well with thoughtful touches around the whole site such as BBQ Facilities, Drying Shed, Recycling, Composting and even a pontoon to moor my vessel at in perfect site! We shall definitely return if given the opportunity :-).

Lovely, clean and very well appointed caravans, in a stunning position overlooking Cuan Sound. Dolphins greeted us as they swam through the sound on our first morning, at sunrise; we also spotted otters and seals swimming by. Walks a plenty on the island - would recommend buying the £1.50 local walking trail guide from the Bothy at Sunnybrae or at the shop on the island. Shop on the island well-stocked but needed to venture to Oban for gluten free and a larger top-up of food due to our 2 week stay. We also charted a small boat at Oban (Coastal Connections) to take us to Tobermory and back (with 3 hours stop at Tobermory) and sea eagle and seal spotting en route. Highly recommend!
Mike was a great host, left us to enjoy ourselves but was always v quick to respond if any questions, and popped by a couple of times to check all okay. Hired a bike one morning, very easy process…but hard work on a couple of the hills for someone used to electric bikes! Ha!
One of our group enjoys paddleboarding but we found the current in the water around Luing to be a bit too strong while we were there, but found a lovely, safe, filled quarry at Ellenabeich which we used - great fun.
The night sky is also absolutely fantastic on a clear night.
Can’t wait to go back.

We stayed in Heron and Gannet for five nights. Hosts Mike and Jen are on site, easily contactable and very welcoming. We felt very Covid safe whilst staying there as caravans were cleaned to a high standard with cleaning products available. Accommodation was excellent. Good sized caravans for 2 to 4 people with ample space and very well equipped. Two teenagers loved the wildlife spotting, otters, herons, porpoises and enjoyed fishing from the jetty. Site is just a 2 minute walk off the ferry and everywhere easily accessible on the island. The only sound we could here on one occasion was a bumble bee.....pure peace and quiet which was just what we needed. We can’t wait to visit again soon.

A very small site right on the waters edge which was just fantastic. Very clean and fresh with everything you need inside. All we needed to do was watch the birds and the sea to be totally relaxed - it’s a complete withdrawal from the hurly burly of modern life and is a quiet, tranquil and just really lovely place. Watching the little ferry or the ducklings or walking around the Island - everyone was very friendly. I would have loved to stay longer and I will do in the future! What an absolute gem.

We had a fantastic 6 day stay in the middle of September. Our accommodation was perfect for the two of us with panoramic views.

A great setting with views across the sound with a variety of boats passing through plus seals, otters and dolphins if you are lucky.
Well equipped and spotless caravan a few yards from the water, easy for launching our small boat for fishing.
The owners have been really careful to make sure everything is covid safe this year.

I can not recommend this place enough, the owners take great care and pride in their caravans and it is clear that much love and care is spent on them.
Caravan had everything you needed down to the smallest item which makes the whole experience much more relaxing. Caravan is absolutely nipping clean and beds are just to die for, so amazingly comfortable. You wouldn't think that you're in Scotland onto the sea as the caravans are so warm and cosy. You will not get better views anywhere for such a great cost.
I could quite happily live there :) .
The site itself is everything you would hope it to be, natural and unspoilt landscape. The caravans almost blend into the environment. The owners really do think of everything.. to a little bothy that provides you're everyday needs should you require anything.
This site is ran with love and it is clear from arrival all the way through to departure.. on this visit it felt as though we were arriving back to visit family, that is the feel Sunnybrae gives to you :) .

We created many family memories in our home from home.

Wow, we really needed a break and needed to get away.

We found this 'Gem' of a retreat on the Isle of Luing. Sunnybrae and our hosts Mike and Jen were so good, made us feel at ease and were truly welcoming.

The location suited us down to the ground, the Sound of Luing in front of us with, boats to watch coming and going, an amazing backdrop of islands, hills and mountains, seabirds, seals, otters and the occasional bird of prey circling in the higher thermals - a photographers paradise. Why does anyone need to watch the TV when there is light in the sky and so much going on around you?

The accommodation is well maintained and equipped, as is the Bothy and facilities that are offered on site. Locally, there is much to do, from small to longer walks, be sure your dogs will love it. Accessibility to the island really is easy with regular ferry's back and forth to the mainland.

We normally say we would never go back to the same holiday location twice, however, on this occasion we would and will make an exception, hopefully staying a little longer than the one week we booked. You can stay in any great accommodation in the world, but its the location which makes it truly special. Sunnybrae blew us away....Thank you so much! Sean and Sam

Lovely wee island. The park was lovely and l appreciated their environmental approach. View from the van is beautiful. The history of the island is interesting too. Very remote with few facilities but that's ok with me and we came prepared apart from my tea! May I suggest a wee welcome pack just in case? The ferry is frequent if you want to go back to the mainland. The shop is well stocked too. I enjoyed our short break and would recommend it if you want a true away from it all.

Thank you for your review, we will think about having a wee welcome pack but we always have the basics available if guests ask for them. If you had booked direct with us as opposed to going through Trip Advisor your short break with us would have been over £60.00 cheaper, it is always cheaper to book direct for your holidays.

Having stayed here before we know what to expect! - waking up to that view.............
Everything fine ( apart from a problem with the TV signal - but did not miss that!)
Fishing great - supplied mackerel to most others on the site!
We saw otters most days, lots of seals, one porpoise, two sightings of white tailed sea eagles when out on the the boat.
Would recommend the sea safari from Easdale - check online for times.

A great little island - only 6 x 1.5 miles but learn more about it every visit - lots of history especially the slate industry.

One of the most intimate caravan sites that we have visited and a perfect place to escape the crowds and bustle of the city (or even the suburbs). The location gives scope for many outdoor pursuits from walking to canoeing via bird watching and island viewing. The local history is fascinating in itself and well explained via a series of information boards strategically placed at various points on the Island. To learn more about the history of the slate industry a trip to the (free) museum in Easdale village is worthwhile.

What a fabulous location, with plenty of peace & quiet to go with the glorious views across the adjacent channel where you can watch the abundant activity offered be it seals, boats, fish or even the odd dolphin. WE found the inhabitants in the area a very friendly answering any queries we had about the local area pointing out many things to look out for etc. I was also impressed with the ferry service which often runs more than the timetabled schedule when there are vehicles waiting, they even went out of their way to collect the ferry outside normal hours to transport a stranded foreign tourists car back from Luing to Cuen terminal. The sky at night is very dark so the stars stand out on clear days. The caravan was very comfortable & well equipped, the "bothy" had good wi-fi & an amazing selection of cd`s, with a selection of frozen meals also on offer, our host was very welcoming and obviously works hard to make this an experience you want to return for. This we definitely will.

everthing top notch. if one wants to be picky, a it more information on surrounding area including a map would be useful.

The only place available to eat out seems to be The Atlantic Centre which we found very limited and little to offer so some sort of on site cafe/bar might be useful and I am sure would be supported by your guests.
