This was an amazing property, the warmth and welcoming from Graham was most appreciated. A little difficulty finding it in the dark but we did get there. Such generosity and fabulous welcome pack of goodies to eat, small gestures around the area of gifts and sweets. Locality so convenient for public transport and locality of hostelries, restaurants, shops all on the doorstop. Plenty of places to eat or get take aways and even a pub next door. You will be so pleased you picked this property when you stay and will want to return. Owners Graham and Jane live local and nothing is too much t...more
Very comfortable, lovely light apartment. Well equipped and pleasantly warm. Lively central location with great views of the city and Minster.
The building is located pretty centrally, near the river and within walking distance to all shops and amenities. The apartment is on the top floor, there is no lift, so if you have heavy luggage, you might think about how to get it up there. The checking in was super easy, same with checking out. The apartment was very quiet, clean, warm, modern, lots of light. The bathroom was clean also. The kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave and lots of cooking equipment. The photos are representative of the flat. Would stay again.
The location is perfect for a family trip to York. Being within easy walking distance of the station and all major central historical attractions, yet in a quiet residential area, was ideal. The kitchen was well-equipped for a short-term rental and the bedrooms very comfy. The view of the city walls from the lounge was lovely. Only small suggestions I would make are 1. provide a cafetiere or electric coffee maker; 2. provide a broom and dustpan and/or fix the hoover, which did not work well.
Fabulous place to stay. Hidden away but central at the same time. Nothing bad to say. Bed was so comfortable and lovely outdoor seating.
We stayed at The Siding for 8 weeks, and we were very comfortable. I was a bit worried that we might hear the trains, but we didn't. They are using the next door lot for staging for the station construction, but also not a problem. There was an inconsistency in the listing, but when I reached out to Stays, they were responsive and we came up with a solution. We were there in the winter so had very little need to open the window, which is close to the street and cars were often parked about a meter away. Sometimes they idled, or played loud music, so I can see how that would be a problem ...more
Beautiful, clean, modern accommodation. Surrounded by beautiful countryside but just a short drive into York city centre, it has everything you need. Tracey and Guy are very welcoming and accommodating.
Beautiful place, lovely extras. My only constructive criticism, is to be made aware prior the rules for the dogs. Thanks for a beautiful stay.
Our stay was to the result of our own property being uninhabitable due to a garage fire. Our hosts Jo and David made us very welcome and were very understanding of our trauma. A lovely place to stay. Very handy for all amenities in the village with secure parking.
We have just returned from a week’s stay at The Parlour in A Brecks Away in Haxby, York. This was an absolute wonderful find. A very clean accommodation, with everything you need. When sitting in the garden enjoying a Pimms, opposite are a field of sheep. Our two dogs were kept on extendable leads to ensure they could not get out of the garden. To the left was a lovely mowed walkway around a duck pond and in the evenings an Owl came to visit. Guy came over to introduce himself, and let us know to contact him if we had an issues, which we didn’t. Parking for 1 car just outside the retr...more
This was just the break we needed, lovely place to stay. We had everything we needed in order to cook our own meals, lovely touch with the eggs bread milk and apple juice. Park and ride was 6 minuites drive away and a quick bus ride to the centre of York which we used daily . Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to stay in York with the option of spending peaceful evenings in the comfort of your own cottage. Felt very welcomed
Perfect for access to York, easy to get to, A64 close by for ease of access to Scarborough, local pubs and shops nearby. very quiet area so a good nights sleep.
Really enjoyable stay and made to feel very welcome Great location with easy access to York Would definitely come again
I stayed here with my two kids (8 and 12) and we loved it. It was clean, comfortable and well located with a handy Sainsburys local on the corner and the town centre a short walk away. I’d highly recommend the apartment for a short break!
Perfect accommodation and location for 2 people wanting to explore the city. A quiet flat only a few minutes walk from the bustle of York. Everything in the flat was comfortable and in good condition and we would definitely stay there again if revisiting York..
Cannot recommend highly enough, the location is brilliant, nice and quiet but only a few minutes walk to the likes of York Minster. The house is immaculate and lovingly presented. Just inside the walls which are the views out the back. Cannot fault and the added bonus (especially for York) of TWO parking spots by the front door.
Booking through Stays York was easy and hassle free. They text me on the day of arrival to say that we could access the apartment early. 5 London Mews had everything you need to enjoy your stay and the parking onsite was a bonus. Was about a 15min walk into York Centre, would definitely stay again.
We spent five nights at The Loft and had a wonderful time exploring York. It is a very sophisticated little apartment with all you need. The only thing we missed was a clothes drying rack.
The property is excellent with everything you need. Varing choice of bedrooms with most having good sized en-suites, only the loft bedroom did not have anything but could access one of the bedrooms facilities without accessing the actual bedroom. The only downside we found was accessing the parking space but once parked the city was accessible without needing to move the car much.
We have stayed in 304 earlier in the year and loved. A few tweaks have happened, settee from bedroom now in lounge. I personally did not find a good move. However would not stop me recommending or returning. So convenient for everything you could possibly wish to do on foot. We were even allowed a late check out which was really appreciated.
My family and I have just stayed at Maggoes place for 9 nights. It’s a beautiful 2 bed mid terrace home which has a sofa bed as a third bedroom in the lounge. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything needed and the seating area- particularly in the kitchen area which has an additional sofa was very comfortable. The beds are lovely and cosy and beautiful Roman blinds provide blackout from the sun. Tastefully decorated and 10 minute walk into York centre and 2 minutes from Micklegate, I loved nipping for a coffee and croissant in a morning from the variety of coffee shops on Mickelgate. ...more
We actually stayed 4 nights and had a fantastic time. The penthouse was gorgeous with amazing views right across to the Yorkshire Wolds. I have stayed in a lot of holiday rental accommodation over the years and The Sanctuary was the best equipped property ever! Beautiful furnishings, comfortable surroundings, cosy sofas and comfy beds… lovely glassware and even Denby Crockery! Great welcome information provided (although the WiFi code in the pack was wrong !) and private secure parking for two cars which we appreciated. Ryedale House is close enough to the city centre (a short walk)… Only neg...more
This apartment was amazing, everything you needed, all amenities provided, clean and really well decorated and the hamper of local goods provided was amazing. Very central location, I would highly recommend this apartment and very competitively priced.
This apartment was ideal for a group of friends and family. It was very well fitted out with good quality modern furniture and fittings. It is minutes walk from York Minster and all the close by amenities of shops restaurants etc. There was all the equipment required in the apartment for self catering including a welcome pack of tea, coffee etc. Having a car parking space was a bonus. I would highly recommend and intend to go back in the future.
Very central and convenient accommodation with lovely views over the river. Place was very well equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Excellent value for money.
Great comfortable apartment with everything you need for a stay in York. Welcome pack and very helpful instruction booklet which gives information about the Apartment and where to go and what to see in York. Very close to all the local sites of interest, shops, pubs and restaurants.
This house was so cute, full of british charm, just what we wanted. The location was perfect, and we had everything we needed. The only downside is we thought it lacked a bit of decor, especially in the bedroom (color on the walls, wallpaper, cushions, blankets, trickets, etc.) to make it more cosy. It also lacked a coffee table in the living room to put drinks down while watching TV, and a small table and 2 chairs in the backyard. There was also useless furniture in the bedroom and the bed was too low to put our luggage under. Since space is limited, it's important to maximize it. That ...more
This was a lovely house, with big, spacious rooms and beautifully appointed. It was nice to have a separate dining room and utility room. Also, it managed to remain quite bearable in the heat, but we did appreciate the provision of tower fans, which really helped when it got too hot!
We loved our stay at Blake Mews. The house was nearly perfect from the welcome hamper to the thoughtful homey decor. Our only issues were burned out light bulbs and a window/door we couldn't open, leading to a dark bathroom and stuffy bedroom. I would stay here again!
The apartment was beautiful with lots of windows to enjoy the view. It was furnished nicely. And, Stays York left a bag of goodies for us that was very nice. It was extremely hot during our visit to York. While 2 fans were provided for the apartment, there really should be 2 in the large living/dining/kitchen room, plus 1 in each of the 2 bedrooms to help keeping the air moving. However, the biggest problem with the heat was that the large sliding window in the living room could not be opened. It says it is awaiting repair right on the window, but based on other reviews, it has been in this...more
Perfect location very close to all restaurants, museums etc. We had no need to use our car during our stay, One very minor thing, being disabled, a handle in the en-suite shower would be very helpful
Great apartment with everything you need in it . It has the perfect location as its a 5 minute walk to the centre of the city . The building its self is spotless and very secure & its a big plus with the secure parking on site . The only down side was the weather was in the 30 s & the apartment held the heat making the temperature in the apartment extremely warm even with all the windows open & the both fans that were provided running .I know this is not the norm but it could be in the future my be an air conditioning unit in the bedroom could be an upgrade for the future. All in all we had a ...more
We had a fantastic stay in the apartment, so close to York city centre. Allocated parking and beautiful modern decor plus all the mod cons and comfortable sofas and beds.
Our stay at 7 Buckingham Street was delightful. From the cosy sitting area, to the spotless bathroom and the comfortable beds the accommodatoon ticked all the boxes. Conveniently situated five minutes from the bridge into the city centre and has two good pubs a minute or two away around the corner, we would definitely return.
A very well equipped house with tasteful furnishings and high quality bed linen and towels. The welcome pack was generous and thoughtful with fresh flowers on the table to greet us. An excellent base to explore York.
This was our 2nd stay at Hunt Court this year and one thing that stood out for us this time round was the overall decor quality thoughout the property. In our opinion, it is looking rather tired urgently in need of a refresh. That said, the property was clean, cozy, and comfortable and contains pretty much everything you would find at home. The biggest draw to booking this property has to be it's location. Just park the car on the drive and leave it there. An easy 5 minute walk gets you into the centre of York with all of it's fantastic attractions and eateries. Such a fantastic place t...more
I really love this place. They have a beautiful 4 sets of dining plates etc and pots n utensils. This time though the cleaning and organizing of plates were not done the same way. It was standard that all plates and bowls are put in one shelf high up but was all over other selves bit by bit. Tefflon coated Frying pan was scratched up, so I requested a replacement which they did very quickly - I’m grateful. They provide a very slim standing fan. One day was 33 C outside and it felt like 35. I won’t ask for AC but definitely 2 bigger fan would be needed w this global warming. Also the room gets...more
Apartment very centrally located for everything we wanted to do on our short trip away. Directly across from train station and 10 minute walk to centre of York. Absolutely everything you need in the apartment for an extremely comfortable “home from home” stay, you’ll be hard pushed to find anywhere better. 5
The apartment location and facilities are great, but a little warm in the summer with the full height glazing, but there are cooling fans that can be used. The only down side is that the parking space isn't great at all. It's really tight, stuck in a corner with two walls to the front and side and a column to try and squeeze past too. We had to reverse down the car park and then drive into the space as you can't open the drivers door (at all!), but remember and pull in your wing mirrors. This is the only way you can get in and out of the car within the space. Luckily there isn't a dedicated...more
We stayed at 22 Buckingham Street for 5 nights after the previous 2 properties we had booked were cancelled on us. The property was clean and well equipped. The owner emailed on arrival to say we could have access early as cleaning was finished. There is a parking permit available for 1 car. The house is very central and we walked everywhere, the street is very quiet with no through traffic. I would recommend this property and would stay again if we return to York. Thank you very much to the owner and to Stays York.
This apartment was very good and comfortable & it was only a 15 mins walk into the main area of York.
Very happy overall and the house met expectations. It was suitable for the number of people. Kitchen and bathroom facilities worked well. Pre-arrival information was clear which made things very easy.
Loved the space and the location, so close to the centre and super quirky. Beds were comfy and linen and towels nice quality and clean. A few niggles - the whole place needs a lick of paint and carpets cleaning now. We stayed in summer so it was SUPER hot, fans would be nice in the rooms. No parking (but that’s what you sign up for when you book and get the fantastic location in return, but it is a niggle). Half a toilet roll left and 3 dishwasher tablets for 5 people for 1 week along with utensils in the kitchen that really need replacing. Just niggles but with these improved it would be ...more
The tobacconist apartment is situated in a fantastic central location. The flat itself is the epitome of stylish luxury. From the sumptuous living room with its comfortable sofas to the boutique hotel bathroom. There is a small but functional kitchen which is more than adequate but you’ll probably eat out most of the time like we did. We will definitely return to this apartment when we come back to visit York.
Excellent location and lovely apartment. I was a bit concerned that it would be noisy being ground floor and right on the road, but this wasn’t at all the case. As previous people commented, it is a shame you can’t open any windows but as the weather wasn’t hot during our stay this wasn’t an issue. Very comfy, extremely clean and stylish. I would definitely stay here again.
Had such an amazing stay here. The location was perfect, located in a lovely area with great restaurants, about a 15 minute walk from the city centre.
Really beautiful and high spec apartment in a fantastic location. We really enjoyed our stay here and would happily return.
Short 3 night break at apartment 11. Very spacious, modern and spotlessly clean. All furnishings comfortable. Lovely hamper on arrival. Location excellent short walk to most attractions. Lots of pubs and places to eat nearby. Although on a busy road the apartment was quiet even with all the windows/skylights in bathroom and bedroom open. Instructions before arrival good everything you need to know in them.
The Parlour at Dukes Townhouse was perfectly located for our visit to York - 5 minute walk and you are at the river, 10 minutes to York minster and the centre! We loved the decoration and everything was very well equipped and comfortable. The parking being included was a big plus point for us - the entrance road is a little tight but we have a mid-size SUV and managed just fine! The communication from Stays York was perfect and we were very happy with everything. We would definitely stay again, in one of the other apartments, if not the Parlour! We can’t wait to come back ☺️
Lovely apartment near the centre of York, fully equipped with everything you could possible need. Apartment sleeps 4 but I would say 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children as second bedroom is much much smaller than main bedroom. Although it is beautifully finished there is a lack of anywhere to put toiletries in the ensuite in the 2nd bedroom and shower sprays on to floor so be warned. Beds where lovely and comfy with quality sheets. Great utility with washer/dryer and ironing facilities. We weren't able to use the rubbish bin as the senor didn't seem to want to open? Apartment was warm and...more
Such a central location, opposite M&S Food Hall - couldn't be better. The property was so elegant and provided all we needed, comfortable and so quiet considering it's location. Everything was clean and well presented. As per other reviews the shower is so small with no room to move , no shelf to put shampoo etc on - yet the bathroom itself is very big. Also the blind at the big window in the bathroom was torn and falling down. However, we loved staying there and would not hesitate to do so again.
We loved the apartment, so spacious, everything catered for. Clean and comfortable. The location was perfect. Loved how we could park our car in the secure car park. The team are very communicative kept us up to date with the details for arriving. We were told we could get in at 2pm, usual check in was 4pm. Very helpful. Air con would have been a massive advantage as it was so hot. Oscillating fan helped. We will definitely stay here again. Thanks for a lovely break.
Really enjoyed our stay at Darnborough Street. We found the house a relaxing place to come back to with a well equipped kitchen and lovely outdoor area to sit and drink a glass of wine. Enjoyed visiting the local bars and restaurants nearby.
St John's Mews is only 5 minutes walk from Monk Bar and 10 minutes to the Minster. We felt very safe in the complex and it was very quiet at night as there is no through traffic at all. Great to find such a central location with off-street parking in York. We really enjoyed being able to walk into town, but were quickly at the ring road if we wanted to venture further afield. The flat had everything we needed for a five-day stay. The bed was a bit small for two tall people and the shower over the bath wasn`t high enough for my husband but these were small inconveniences.
Amazing house in amazing location. No downsides! Would love to return. Couldn’t be more central for exploring York! Stay here. You definitely won’t regret it!
We had a lovely stay and really enjoyed our time here. The cottage was extremely clean, beautifully presented and very well thought out, with lots of attention to detail. It had such a lovely, calm vibe and felt really welcoming. The whole process was straightforward and easy, and the location was fantastic, less than a 10-minute walk into York city centre, which was perfect for exploring. The only small points of feedback would be that the sofa bed was quite uncomfortable to sit on, as the cushions kept slipping off the edge no matter how many times we repositioned them. There also wasn...more
Fully equipped and ready for your Shambles Holiday. Bedroom is away from the street so noise is limited. Fun, exciting location, Pubs and stores literal steps away.
Great apartment, perfect for my husband & daughter for a long weekend. Fantastic location with lots of our doorstep, York felt very accessible. Extra brownie points to Stays York, who were proactive, just amazing all round & offered a real personal touch...so refreshing these days dealing with actual humans & not automated responses or instructions. I had contact with perhaps 3 separate employees there & they all gave the same high level of service. Thank you for helping make our stay an amazing one...we will be back & booking through York Stays! ☺️
The house was warm & cosy on arrival which we appreciated as it was a cold day. Very well equipped kitchen. Comfy beds. Good wifi. The house had everything we needed. Well situated, in a quiet location but an easy walk into York centre. Sainsbury’s Local a 3 minute walk away. Mrs Greedys cafe also nearby serving breakfast & lunches ~ sit in or takeaway. An option to recycle would be a bonus as plenty of space in kitchen & outside for extra bins. Communication with Stays York was easy, l found them to be very helpful. We recommend this property and would stay here again.
Everything was easy and we managed to get a parking spot! House had everything we could need, and beds were comfortable with lovely linen. Great location. Hot tub wasn’t very strong with the jets but maybe we couldn’t work it out. Otherwise excellent. Thank you.
Second time staying at Ryedale House but first time in this apartment. Shame it didn’t have an allocated parking space at the premises but this was easily resolved by booking a space at Piccadilly via ‘Just Park’. The location is excellent for visiting the city with the shambles/shopping less than a five minute walk away. Local Tesco on the doorstep along with street food court and a local weatherspoons. Well worth the money and we will be back soon.
We stayed here for three nights so that we could visit the main sights in York. The location was perfect - a short walk from the railway station, even quicker to the Minster and the city centre, and just across the road from a lovely park. There is also a small supermarket on the corner of the road. The apartment is tucked away at the back of the building and given how central it is, it's very quiet. It was ideal for our holiday.
The cottage was just as described, if not better. Good layout with a well equipped kitchen. The TV is huge and great for a movie night after a day of exploring the local area. The location on the Saltmoore estate is perfect, very peaceful. We visited the beach house, this was a good halfway point when walking through the estate to stop for a drink on the way to the cottage. We ate at the hotel one evening. It is a short walk into Sandsend, I’d recommend the cafe on the seafront for breakfast/lunch. There is a bus stop right outside the estate with a bus every half hour to and from Whitby that ...more
This was our second stay here, which speaks volumes about how well-located and enjoyable the property is. Its position in York is excellent, with most attractions within a 10-minute walk, and the included parking is a real bonus given how expensive parking can be in the city. Unfortunately, the bed is extremely soft—too soft even for someone who prefers a softer mattress—and we didn’t get a good night’s sleep. As a comfortable bed is essential for a city break, this is a dealbreaker which will prevent us from returning. Aside from that, the property is quirky, stylish, and in a fantastic...more
Can’t fault staysyork or the cottage. This was the first time I’ve rented a house for a few days and found it much better than using a hotel. It was reassuring to have staystork phone me the day before arrival asking if I had any questions etc. I did contact them via email when booking and they replied within an hour, again it’s reassuring to know someone is available to help. The cottage location was great, it was clean and well thought out. I will defo be using them again.
The apartment was brilliant, fantastic location and very quirky. Bed was comfy and very good amenities. The only thing I would say is it could do with a deep clean, under sofa bed was dirty and cobwebs behind furniture etc. The main parts were clean but just needs a deep clean every now and again. We also had an issue with the chest for the quilt being padlocked so someone had to come and open that for us. But would stay again!
We stayed two nights in York. The apartment was wonderfully located, easy walk from the train and walk to town. The apartment was spotless with great amenities, we really appreciated the bath. The mattress and pillows were so comfy! Wonderful place to stay!!
I spent 6 happy nights here, and it was splendid! A beautiful, stylish clean home base for my explorations of York. It was quiet and safe, convenient with a Sainsbury's a few feet from the door, and Bootham Bar was right around the corner-- you couldn't want a better location. I had everything I needed, including laundry facilities. A couple of suggestions: it was be nice if the owners provided a mini-bottle of shampoo and conditioner for guests to start out with on arrival. I know Sainsibury's is handy, but after a long day of travel, the last thing I wanted to do was go back out after unp...more
First thing to say is that this is a stunning building, beautifully restored. The apartment itself is great, spread over four floors, okay for six although the top room is quite small and the second bathroom on the top floor is only a toilet and basin - only one shower/bathroom. The cinema room is great! And the location is perfect - ten minutes walk over the river to the centre of York and two minutes away from the excellent shops and restaurants on Bishopthorpe Rd.
I really like this place. It's the third time I've stayed in this building in different apartments, and I've used all of them so far. I really like the location, the good taste in all the apartments, and the comfort in all the rooms.
We live in a Victorian house that is very traditionally appointed so we absolutely loved being able to enjoy the vibes of the Victorian House. It was a short walk from the station and a short walk to the historic centre which we managed easily with our toddler without any need for a buggy or stroller. Location can’t be beat - it was a quiet road so no noise really from traffic or groups going out on the town. The amenities were ideal. Two bedrooms with very comfortable and ample bedding/pillows, a spacious upstairs bathroom with walk-in shower and separate clawfoot bath, good blackout blinds...more

On arrival, instructions to gain access for parking permit, fob to access garage & room key all good. Easy access once inside to interior via key fob and either stairs or lifts straightforward. The apartment was well was clean and well equipped. One or two omissions ( we are 5 star AirBnb hosts in Devon so know what works for guests). We were glad it was summer, the heating control panel was a bit "techy" unless you lived here and were used to it. The "welcome" pack was lacking, a 2 Bedroom apartment , we had 3 guests booked and only 2 coffee bags? There was a percolator but no ground co...more
We chose Bishop’s Court flat to stay near some friends in the area, but we feel like we lucked into a real gem in York. Beautifully updated, pristinely maintained, and incredibly well organized for guests, this flat was lovely. Located just off the scenic Bishy Road with a short walk into city center, it felt like a quiet retreat outside the tourist hustle and bustle. Really enjoyed our stay, would absolutely recommend.
Great location The heating system needs looking at , it was freezing in there when we arrived took ages to warm up and then kept switching it self back down to 14 degrees
We had a brilliant stay at this centrally located gem in York. The room was finished to a high standard throughout, modern, stylish, and immaculately clean. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, with quality linens that made for a great night’s sleep. The wet room was a real highlight. Spacious, sleek, and very well designed. Everything felt thoughtfully put together, from the lighting to the overall layout. Access was simple and hassle-free, and despite being right in the heart of the city, the room felt quiet and private. You’re just steps away from all the shops, restaurants, and his...more
Lovely property with everything you need. Very comfortable beds and plenty of space to relax after a busy day. The outside space is great to enjoy a morning coffee in the sun. Great location to walk into the city, station etc
Really lovely apartment located in a well maintained building, everything was clean and tidy. The parking was a must for us and due to the location we didn't need to move our car for the entire stay which was great. We stayed end of July and it was very hot and sunny and due to the direction our windows faced it did make it hot in the afternoon and evening, the living room could have benefited from a different style of window dressing to help with the heat and also to make it a bit easier to see the television when chilling out from a busy day! Communication was good with hosts, I would defi...more
Great communication from Stays York. We were advised that we could check in earlier than 4pm, which was brilliant. The house was a little way out from the Centre, but easily walkable. Ubers were pretty cheap however. House was clean and had everything we needed for a couple of nights. We were able to park just outside the house which was an added bonus. Beds and pillows were comfy, the bed maybe a little narrow for the average single, but copeable! All linen and towels were clean and fresh. The house itself was a little smaller than anticipated but as we were only there to sleep and relax i...more

Great little house, nice layout and the courtyard in the back was lovely for relaxing in the sun. The parking was very convenient. Surprisingly quiet being a little way off the main street which is great.
An enjoyable stay in York, mid-week. This isn't the first time we've stayed in the Cocoa Suites. It's in a great location and quite close to the centre of the city. We arrived by train, so parking wasn't a consideration for us. No issues for us at all.
Modern compact suite with useful facilities such as combination washing machine/dryer; oven/microwave, four plate hob burner. Good security system within flat and the allocated parking area. Overall the accommodation was clean and well presented. More attention from cleaning firm would rectify areas not up to standard such as:- dusty utensils on worktop, dusty fire protection equipment, used tissues under bed, bed cabinet dusty in bottom of recess area where bed folds up, (long pillow fell in there and it was covered in thick dust). Condensation and mould build up on windows. It wasn't difficu...more

A lovely apartment with everything you need. Great location overlooking the river. Would love to come back.
Great location and property, perfect for walking into city. Would recommend for staying again. Only drawbacks were the noisy extractor fan and only provided with a single dishwasher tablet when staying for 6 nights
Beautifully kept and furnished place with good selection of games and even toys. Excellent bathrooms. Beds a little on soft side for our liking but fine for a Couple of nights Convenient location for sights of York and for row of local restaurants, coffee shops including an excellent fish and chip shop
Loverly apartment, great location everything you needed was there. Only thing would be the apartment was very hot slightly uncomfortable at night seemed like heating was on from other apartments.
Aycliffe cottage was set in a great location for accessing York on foot. It was also a fairly quiet location so had the benefit of proximity to York city centre without the noise. The cottage had a nice feel to it and helpful signs for Wi-Fi, rubbish, oven etc so didn’t have to keep consulting the welcome pack which was good. The bedrooms were comfortable and the bathroom was great. There were 3 toilets in the property, 1 on each floor which was definitely a bonus. The cottage would have been improved with a better sofa, it was a good couch if you like to sit low to the ground but I have bac...more
We found the Lux to be clean and comfortable, it was in a prime position with an easy walk into city centre 3 minute walk, the parking is an added bonus.. Absolutely would recommend this accommodation.
The location is easy to find and ten minutes walk to city centre. It is a clean, comfy and quiet stylish studio beside the river. Power shower and spacious enough to relax in property. The only thing that could be better is the oven and cooker. Couldn't get it working properly and didn't cook food well. Great everything else. Would recommend.
Tawny Lodge is very special to us. We had bicycles with us: a 7-minute bike ride to the Cathedral. And a bus downtown stops right outside the gate. Inside everything is provided and it is spacious. The owners have taken care of this apartment in their own unique way, and with vision. Nature is important to them. The house has a very large backyard that they let go completely wild, making it very bird-friendly. We counted 16 different species. Including the namesake: a Tawny Owl, which looked us straight in the eyes one evening. To be able to see all those birds and the garden clearly, includ...more
I really enjoyed my stay at The Grand at Dukes Townhouse. The location was excellent, close to the train, on a quiet street, and only a short walk into town. The flat was clean and spacious, with a thoughtful welcome basket on arrival. The management company was very responsive and handled everything quickly. I also appreciated that the neighbors were considerate, (the building is older and the walls are thin) which made the stay feel peaceful. Overall, it was a comfortable, convenient, and welcoming place to stay, and I would happily return.
Great accommodation and Great location. Clean and tidy setting close to amenities with parking facility right in the heart of York. Good price for the weeks stay and a quaint little street.Would definitely return and recommend to friends and family.
This was a last minute booking which worked out wonderfully will definitely return. The whole place is immaculate and well stocked. Comfortable furniture and beds. Good wifi signal. Location cannot be beaten right in the middle of everything only a short walk to most major attractions. Parking space is a total bonus. Two double beds and 2 hairdryers big bonus when multiple adults go away. Literally the only annoyance is only one set of keys but most places are like this and it is a personal bug bear. The battery on fire alarm needed replacing whilst there, I only mention this to highli...more
Our second stay at The Birdie. This time with our grandson and family. The house is in a quiet location with parking and a level 20 minute walk into York itself, slightly longer with a toddler! The house is spacious and benefits from a secure, flat garden backing onto the 18th hole of the local golf course. The apple tree continues to drop apples, so not a good idea to stand under it for any length of time. It was a suntrap in the garden, but managed to find shade most of the time. Inside, the bedrooms are a good size with plenty of storage and large, comfortable beds. The fans were most wel...more
The Silk Mercers is a lovely apartment with bright and colourful wallpapers and lamps. It was in an amazing location, within walking distance to everything in York city. It was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked with everything you need. We would definitely stay again.
Property was in a great location and only 7-8 minutes walk into town. Great to have a parking space included and also property was dog friendly. Kitchen was well equipped but we only had breakfast there and didn’t do any cooking. Bed was very comfy and we slept very well. We had a problem with the shower not draining water from the tray but Stays York sorted. WiFi was not working the whole of our stay and TV was either on for short intermittent times or not working at all! A dongle was supplied instead of a working router but it couldn't cope with the data. Stays York were really helpful tryin...more
The flat is lovely and was just perfect for our long weekend in York. Having the parking space was a massive bonus, as parking is so limited in the city. I didn't move the car the whole weekend, as everywhere was within walking distance. Plenty of good choices of nearby restaurants. I appreciated the call on Thursday afternoon from a staff member to make sure I had all the information and to check if I had any questions. I would definitely recommend this property for a stay in York.
This was the second time we have stayed at this apartment so that speaks for its self. Own parking space and good instructions for entry to apartment. Very clean, neat and tidy apartment. Tesco Express and Sainsbury Local less than 100 metres away. Very comfortable accommodation and quiet too. Five minutes walk to The Shambles and shops. Will use again.
The property is in very good standard and good location, very easy to walk to city center, the only draw back was not having an extracter for the kitchen cooking, otherwise a comfortable stay overall.
The old dutch house is great , a real gem within York city walls . Great pubs and cafes on the doorstep .
We highly recommend 37, Cocoa Suites, everything is reachable within walking distance. Luckily, we met someone from Staysyork.com in the entrance hall, so we were able to check in earlier then 4.00pm The appartement was nicely decorated and perfect for 2 people. Plenty of hangers for our clothes plus aircondition The only thing we missed was a hand shower on top of the rainshower. And the door to enter the shower was quite narrow. But everything else including a little welcome bag with tea, coffee and milk was very good. We would certainly consider staying here again.
Lovely little one storey house. Extremely comfortable, well equipped and clean. The parking was extremely convenient and everything to see and do was within walking distance. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again and have already recommended it to friends.
This is my second time I have been to the Brierley and it's the best for location. The apartment has everything you need and more. My only concern is the shower isn't powerful enough but that's only a small point. I would definitely recommend.
Absolutely delighted with house, it’s not the biggest but it’s ideal Cosy , comfortable and ideally located Very quite Perfect all round , so much so we visited office and managed to an extra 2 nights
superb location in the heart of the old town, marvelous view of York Minster, spacious rooms and easy access to the appartment
Great views across York, though slightly spoiled on our stay by the cranes blocking the Minster. The apartment is spacious and well equipped. Generally well maintained and clean, though the carpets in the bedrooms are a bit grubby but cream is probably not the best choice of colour. Fantastic location in short walking distance of the shambles and great to have the allocated parking spaces for 2 cars. All round would recommend and not bad value if you use all the bedrooms.
The house is lovely with a lot of original features, the downstairs bathroom is clean, modern and easily accessible, however, there was a damp smell in there. The kitchen was reasonably equipped, with a good range of utensils. The upstairs bedrooms were all clean and well maintained. There is a very modern bathroom on the first floor, very nice decor, however, there is a need for a non slip mat in the shower, when the shower and floor are wet it is dangerously slippery. Overall the house was very nice, some attention is needed to deep cleaning with cobwebs, and stains on carpets. Hopful...more
Well located and gorgeous flat. The main issue was noise, as it is not well insulated from noise outside (noise from the kitchen staff from the pub opposite smashing the bins until midnight) and from the flat below (could hear the couple being intimate), so although the bed is comfy not ideal to get a good night sleep.
Stays York are always the first choice when staying in York. We always recommend them to friends. Why pay more to the likes of booking.com. I’d imagine this property would be uncomfortable for those who don’t like hot summers as there is no air conditioning, two nice looking fans, but not up to the job, and you can not open any windows except for the small ones in the one of the bathrooms. There were a couple of house keeping issues that bugged me little bit, but overall, it was very clean. Two of the three frying pans were not compatible with the induction hob. (I do like to cook ). ...more
The apartment is in a great location The security is great and having a car park on site is very useful The apartment was comfortable, clean and spacious
Yet again working with Stays York we had great, and very comfortable trip. Ryedale House is an excellent property, located within a couple of minutes walk to the center of town. Comfortable, clean, convenient.
Great location and accessibility to the town centre, main issue we had was the neighbours upstairs echoed throughout the property which made it difficult to sleep through the night. The property needs some more maintenance / decorating, residue of previous damp issues shown around the property which is slightly of putting when entering the property.
Walk everywhere. Bus stop across the street, cafes, bars, dining all within 100m. Large apartment with good facilities. Highly recommended.
Fantastic stay, great place, perfect for a family get away in York. It was our second time staying .
Very comfortable room. Good views and walk to everything in the walls. Perfect location for dining and drinking. Highly recommended.
Our stay was perfect. It offered everything we wanted. Thank you. The description on york stay was spot on !
Great Stay, Highly Recommend! We had a wonderful stay at this accommodation. The place was spotless, comfortable, and exactly as described in the listing. Check-in was smooth and the host was responsive and helpful throughout our visit. The location was convenient, close to shops and transport links, and the space had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. We'd happily book again and recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, hassle-free place to stay!
Nice street front location in the heart of the Shambles. We l equipped and ready for your visit.Third floor has quite a few stairs to climb. Secure and convenient.
A bright airy apartment - we stayed for a total of 5 weeks in between houses. The Loft has windows with blinds in all directions so we were able to keep it a reasonable temperature during the hot weather. A key plus for us was a large dining table with room for working and eating. The kitchen is somewhat cramped but reasonably well equipped with saucepans etc. Note there is no dishwasher and the fridge is small with only a freezer compartment. Watch your head on sloping ceilings in kitchen and lounge! Lots of storage in dining area and bathroom. Heworth is a quiet residential area with some at...more
We had a lovely stay at No 19, it’s in a great location. So would recommended it to family friends. There is a wine bar next door which was not a problem and there is another one the other side which was a little noisy on Friday but okay for the rest of the weekend.
This flat definitely has a "wow" effect when you walk in - the rooms are spacious, everything is clean and bright and everything you require is provided. The location is optimal - just footsteps away from the old town! One thing somewhat marred our experience however: there are no opening windows! In summer we love to throw everything open and listen to the sounds of the city over breakfast, or simply let in some fresh air when we get back from an outing. The only solution here is to leave the front door open (it opens up onto an outside cursive at the back of the building so you can do t...more
45 Cocoa Suits is one of the most beautiful view of York. The location is perfect, and the structure are very good! But is important check the conditions of the sofa lega, and change the pans.
Great location for York City centre. So central and very convenient. Would stay again and would use this company due to great customer service.
Everything was very good. I have given it a 1 for comfort due to the fact that the pillows were so thin they were almost non existent. We actually went out and bought some new ones.
Great property warm, clean and comfortable. Welcome instructions easy to follow and lots of information available about York and the local area. Would definitely come back again.
Walmgate cottage is an excellent base for a short trip to York. It is a 10 minute walk from the centre of the city, which means it is pretty quiet. The cottage was warm and cosy, and everything was clean. If you are unsteady on your feet, be advised be that the upstairs floors are a little bit uneven due to the age of the property, but that was not an issue for us. The facilities were good, and although we did not cook for ourselves, the kitchen seemed to have a good level of equipment. We enjoyed having the extra space and lounge, kitchen etc that we would not have got if we had booked a ...more
Very well equipped, furnished and maintained. No complaints at all. Location was a few minutes walk from the centre of York and a host of eateries.
Great location, you can walk into York or catch the bus. It’s warm , comfortable & lounge is really spacious for two. Only negative, basin in en-suite ( plus cloakroom) are tiny & very low, We’ve stayed there twice so, benefits outweigh but it’s a bit strange if you are over 5ft !
Thanks v much for having us. Few things... I didn't appreciate having to empty the dishwasher when I arrived. Not the best welcome. Also, the new occupants to the shop downstairs played loud music every evening for an hour or 2. Lovely flat still, but perhaps not back for a 3rd visit due to downstairs.
Great property in a lovely quiet village which was perfect for a morning dog walk. Sadly we were mainly using this property as a base so time spent here was limited but the hours and nights spent here were very comfortable and the property had everything we required. The wine in the fridge was a nice welcome surprise. Would definitely stay here again and wouldn't hesitate in recommending to friends and family.
Excellent location. Walk to everything inside the walls. Large staircase and lift if needed. Huge bathroom, very comfortable apartment. Highly recommended.
Lovely flat in great location short walk to all the shops and restaurants. The area was quiet and had access to public transport if you needed it.
What a great space for a large party. All the bedrooms had their own bathrooms. A very well equipped kitchen, often lacking in rental properties. Perfect location for exploring the city.
This was a return trip to Ryedale House for the family, having stayed 2 years previously. The Outlook was a definite upgrade to the previous apartment. This apartment came with 2 parking spaces but these were of the tandem style, so in effect it was just a long parking bay and narrow too, so when cars parked in the adjoining spaces it was a really tight squeeze to get in / out of the car. The spaces need to be bigger! For the first week of our holiday the temperatures outside were in the mid 30's and the apartment quickly heated up, made worse by the large volume of glass in the kitchen / din...more
I love this place. I’m a repeated guest. It provides everything you need to cook, wash clothes and sleep well. 2 request is to get a bigger standing fan. & change frying pans regularly as it was scratched up and was smelling bad chemically. I learned later they provide a replacement once you ask. They were responsive and I was grateful but pls pls provide a big fan. It got so hot one day like 33c and I was cooking !
We had a fabulous stay at the Gardeners Cottage. Lovely location with sun all afternoon long, and a shortish walk into Sandsend
Stayed for a week in this lovely appt. and hope to return. Some housekeeping issues reported and will hopefully be resolved for future guests. Worth noting it's an appt at the end of a long corridor (re carrying suitcases) and we were unable to find the outside rubbish bins.... probably needed a long walk around the buildings. Maybe a small map would help? But we shall return.
Had a lovely stay in the Centre of York . My Wife loved the room with the Bath & floral decorations! The Room was very clean. As expected a little noisy on the saturday night, being right in the middle of the High st. Easy to check in with keysafe. Only things to be aware of is ,there is parking recommended beforehand, however we were not told that we had to pre book parking, which meant we were trying to find a parking space forever & were losing the Will !! A couple of minor things were the water in the bathroom sink was absolutely scalding hot ! & only a couple of very small sachet...more
This is a lovely, well-equipped flat, close to the city centre. We had a really enjoyable one-week stay.
everything is good except cleaning service. I don’t know why they take away the rubbish only once a month. It made me uncomfortable.
Great location and facilities. Apartment comfy, clean and spacious. Less than 5 mins walk into York centre.
Compact flat, which is fine if you don’t intend to spend too much time of your vacation/trip there. The flat is well situated, is very well equipped and it has a superb internet service. The bed was comfortable and the shower is decent. The dark décor sucks the light out of the flat. If it were mine, I’d paint it white.
spacious apartment in an excellent position great to have private parking. new mattress badly needed in the smaller double room very uncomfortable. no ventilating window in the smaller double bedroom and no window at all in the single room which made the apartment very stuffy. air condoning would be an advantage as would replacement mattress make it 5 star as location perfect
Comfortable three bedroom house but 2 of the bedrooms a little on the small side. Very clean and well equipped. Also good location - easy access to the centre of York.
Had great difficulty getting into the building. Were helped by a lovely couple who had the same problem themselves.Information was incorrect given by Stays York. Similar problem with the car park. Shower was difficult to use and the TV didn’t work at all. Bedroom was comfortable although rather small. Kitchen was well equipped.
The apartment is in a great location and very clean. The parking space, however, is located in the public parking area by the castle, which is only a short walking distance away. Be warned: during our 5‑day stay we received 3 parking fines because staysyork did not arrange the parking reservation correctly. Two of the fines arrived after we were already back home. Since I had a rental car, the total cost ended up being more than £300, and the rental company is now issuing additional charges. staysyork has stopped responding to my emails. Because I live abroad, I cannot pay the fines directly m...more
We had a very nice two week stay at the apartment. Although it was not our original booking it turned out very nice. The layout of the accommodation was good. Access to the first floor was via a very convenient lift which was handy as the original apartment booked was on the ground floor so we were a little worried. The facilities in the apartment were sufficient for a two week stay. The added bonus of a washing machine, was welcome although we did only use it once halfway through our stay. The only criticisms were mainly based on the fact that we are not in the first flush of youth and we fo...more
Fantastic stay at Clifford's View, Ryedale House, booked through Stays York. We are returning customers, having stayed in Ryedale House several times. This was our first time in the Clifford's View apartment and it didn't disappoint. The apartment is well equipped with everythig you need for a comfortable stay. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils etc which was great after a long day of sightseeing when we just wanted to relax in the evening, rather than go out to eat. With a variety of local supermarkets including a huge M&S foodhall nearby it was easy to pick up essentials. Super co...more
Stayed in the apartment a few times before. Lovely quiet flat with private parking. Within easy walking distance to all York attractions. Will probably return again.
A really lovely apartment in a beautiful location. Well equipped with lovely finishes! Had a small issue on check in but the service was excellent and rectified straight away. My only observation would be that the sofa bed in the living room, I wouldn’t really class as a bed. It’s a futon and unfortunately very uncomfortable. Otherwise, an amazing stay!
The pros: The location and views of the hotel was amazing. We kept laughing at the fact that it seemed that everything we ended up going was literally 5 minutes away. The basics were also just right, the shower was amazing and the bed leant it self to a very restful sleep. The cons: The cleanliness/cleaning of the room was disappointing. Dust seemed to be everywhere. There was mold growing on the second floor stairs. The bed had some previous tenants vape laying under the bed on my final inspection to see if anything was left. And to top it all of the towels. Now maybe I'm just being over...more
We loved being so close it was perfect location for us, comfortable beds, beautiful home, stunning features, will absolutely use stay york again. There is negatives though, chairs in living-room no longer comfortable cushions needing replaced and unfortunately the garden is so overgrown this photo of dining room doesn’t replicate real life it’s so dark and dreary we didn’t want to use it, and lighting didn’t brighten it at all. Also the weather was fantastic and we did want to use the garden more in evenings but hardly any space due to being so overgrown which was shame at such a beautiful hou...more
We had a lovely stay overall. The house is in a fantastic location, the décor is beautiful, and the beds were really comfortable. Parking was a little tricky when we first arrived, but once we’d parked, the cone provided to reserve the space outside the property was a great idea. The only reason we marked cleanliness down slightly was because the cleaner didn’t leave until around 10 minutes after the 4pm check-in time, so the floors were still soaking wet when we arrived. There were also a few cobwebs in the bedrooms, and the barbecue was left very dirty with rubbish from previous guests, s...more
Property larger than expected. Very clean & modern. Great quirky layout over 4 floors. Great to have so many fans as the property was hot. Hand wash was really lovely! Would definitely recommend. Overall almost everything was really great but these things would have improved our stay: An extra parking permit, even at an additional cost. It was a real hassle having to either keep moving the car or parking it elsewhere especially for people with mobility issues. Some rooms may not suit tall people with restricted height of the beams. Bin area isn’t easy to use with 3 different recyc...more
We enjoyed our stay at The Lark. The bedrooms were perfect for our family of four and the living space worked nicely. The location is great - quick walk to the train station and just 5 minute across the bridge to get to many shops and restaurants. We were appreciative of the fans available as it was warmer than usual during our stay but wish they had been a bit more powerful. The only thing that diminished our stay was the very busy and noisy exterior. This might not be an issue during cooler temperatures, but as we needed to leave the windows open, we found the large bar/pub next door very ha...more
So fun to enjoy a bit of history and stay in the converted Rowntree chocolate factory. Great location walkable to all the attractions as well as easy access to groceries. Comfortable and spacious for 1 person, would be a bit cozy for more. Very clean and the cleaning service for my longer stay was great. I found the kitchen a little ill-equipped. The windows let in a lot of noise as there is a walkway and gate right outside the window, as well as the building entrance. If you're a light sleeper this could be an issue.
Great apartment with a company we've stayed with before. Great comunication again, flat very clean and well equiped. Location fantastic. Only tiny things to mention is the body wash and washing up liquids were incredibly watered down (this may have been the previous client, not Stays York), there is only a net curtain in the lounge so you can't get full privacy and a tv in at least one of the bedrooms would be nice. None of this would stop me staying here again though as it's a great holiday apartment. Thank you Stays York
The location of this property is top notch. You can sit on the couch and see the most spectacular view of York Minster. The location also makes it an easy walk to any town sites and shopping. I would note that the amount of stairs to get to the flat and inside the flat are many and may be too much for some. The bathroom is very large and the hot water on demand worked perfectly. The bathroom is on the same floor as the living and kitchen areas. This is lovely during the day, but daunting in the middle of the night when having to traverse the stairs to use the facilities. The kitchen is very s...more
An excellent week in York with perfect weather and a location that was perfect for everything we wanted to do. The location, together with the secure parking was perfect. The suite was bijou but, bearing in mind we were out most of the time, it was fine for 2 people. I would not want to be there with 4 people! The suite had everything we wanted and needed and apart from a couple of jobs that need doing (2 flickering lights and a bathroom door that wouldnt fully close), it was in good condition. Would certainly consider for another stay.
Everything about the home was great. Was cozy and comfortable in a nice location within a stones throw of the main city centre and river Ouse. The only things we found annoying was to do with the kitchen and bathroom:- The shower head was faulty but usable. The front of the shower head was coming away from the main part of the body of it. This meant the water leaked past it losing pressure. Was still usable but another shower head would be great. There was also no kitchen roll provided for minor spills etc and no oven gloves so cooking was a little challenging when using the oven an...more
The apartment is tastefully decorated with all the kitchen equipment needed for a short stay. Great location near the train station. Quiet. Easy check in and out.
We had a lovely stay at 123 Nunnery Lane. The location is on the corner of a little high street with good cafes and bakery's. We stayed with our 4month old baby and there is space to leave the stroller at the bottom of the stairs and a travel cot with a mattress which was a real bonus - she actually slept through the night for the first time ever! It is a 10-15min stroll back into town and to the train station. Some reviews mention street noise but it didn't bother us at all (and that is something that would normally keep me up!) Appreciated the phone call the day prior just to check if we...more
Good place for a short stay; comfortable, spacious and in a convenient location for both town and supermarkets. The one thing that could be improved is the TV, it's almost ludicrously old and slow. Think you could get a second hand one for 50 quid that would be ten times as good. And the geese on the river can't half honk away.
Wonderful accommodation clean and tidy .a fabulous property. The best i have stayed in ..I hope next year i can get this property again.
The Stays York Falcon Apartment delivers a brilliant home. You get a great location within walking distance of key museums and shops. Hosts provided exceptional support. They shared clear documentation about the property and called ahead of my stay to check for any needs. The apartment feels lovely and spacious. Rooms feature a good size with high ceilings, making the space feel open. Modern furnishings add comfort and coziness. The kitchen comes fully kitted out with all major appliances except a dishwasher. Two sets of stairs and no lifts exist on-site, though this wasn’t an issue for my ...more
This is a great place to stay and visit York. Everything you need is provided and is a short walk away from the centre. Stays York are also great at anticipating needs such as providing fans on our arrival during the heatwave. Customer service is super responsive. Would definitely book again!
It’s in an excellent location for the City, Cathedral, Shambles and all the other tourist hotspots. The apartment itself was very clean and well laid out with access to the front and back of the property. Added advantage of having its own parking space too.
Great location, just outside the city. Close enough to easily walk into the centre but nice and quiet. Well equipped kitchen and bathroom. Lovely patio and garden area. Stays York provided excellent communication and customer service.
Grooms cottage was easy to find, in a quiet location just behind a small park but with easy access into the City. It was very modern with all appliances you need and clean and tidy. Comfy beds, nice en-suite to a very large master bedroom. Great bonus is the allocated parking space for one car as the street has no parking. One small negative comment for us was the outside area with table and chairs had not been prepared at all which was disappointing as the sun was out on arrival but we soon sorted this with a brush and cleaned the table and chairs down with soap and water. Perfect location, comfort place, easy access , safe , easy payment The only comment omit is Expensive as a studio
Great Location and with everything on the doorstep made out stay very memorable indeed. Countless bars, restaurants , cafes , shopping and very easy for long walks.
Great little appartment in York. Perfect location for exploring York and has everything you would need. It is a little bit noisy at night but nothing too bad just people walking past. Great customer service from stays york. Before hand replied straight away to all my emails. I rang up earlier in the day to ask if we could check in early. They rang the owner to make sure it was ready and rang me straight back. We also had an issue with the washing machine and they had someone come take a look at it the same day.
Great location for everything just a few things need upgraded to make this apartment good Could do with a proper clean the crockery had chips on them Rug in living room health hazard slips and has turned up corners Needs curtains lights from courtyard shines in bedroom Sofa sinks when you sit on No shower mat Shame about noisy neighbours
We spent a short break in York and really enjoyed our stay. The house was ideal, two comfy first floor double/king bedrooms and a twin room in the eaves on the second floor. All very comfortable. We appreciated the cleaning pack left with two dishwasher tablets and two washing capsules. The long life milk packs were left for the next people though! Everything worked well and we were very happy. Only minor grumbles, the sash window in the front bedroom isn’t functioning which in this heat was an issue and the cold tap in the bathroom is leaking. We were surprised that there didn’t seem to be an...more
Only a 5-8 mins walk from Monks Gate and the City, this is an ideal property for exploring York and surrounding area. The parking permit for one car is handy. We were able to park directly outside the house. There is ample room for 6 persons. There is a well equipped kitchen with Arga style range that takes some getting used to. Just need to allow extra time to cook. The house was well presented and clean. Be aware there is no ground floor toilet and the stairs to the attic bedroom are quite steep. The only thing that let the house down was the lounge, which was perfectly functional, but the f...more
We had a good stay whilst in York for 5 nights for a wedding. Property was central, clean & convenient.
This place is absolutely beautiful. It was my second time staying there because it is such a great place to stay. Perfect location and very spacious.
The apartment is in a good location not far from the railway station. It has a very spacious main room which incorporates a kitchenette. The shower room is a little cramped. The main room was sparsely decorated but comfortable. I had a bit of a problem with the keysafe mainly because I was unfamiliar with them. A call to Stays York sorted that problem out. All in all I enjoyed my stay at the value for money apartment.
The effort made to adapt its beautiful architecture to modern needs is remarkable. In terms of aspects to improve, it would be worth considering the possibility of including a second bathroom on the first floor, access is a bit inconvenient, we had problems with the heating and the double room had rubbish under the beds.
A perfectly situated property over 4 floors, with very spacious rooms. Comfortable front room and kitchen. Relaxing tub with views of the Minster. Great utility room. Highly recommend using 17 Blake street for your visit to York.
Myself, along with 4 other family members booked the apartment to celebrate our Daughter's university grades...On arrival ( August 17- 20th 2026,we had no problems with gaining access into the apartment, once inside the apartment looked just as the photos plenty of room and looked to be clean, however on further inspection we found it to be very dusty and a unpleasant smell from the separate bathroom next to the lounge.. stained carpets and all the headboard's had a very thick layer of dust, towels have seen better days (stained and rough) also lots of screw's ECT in drawers...(Very easy for ...more
Thank you so much for a wonderful stay! We had an amazing time celebrating my friend's birthday. The apartment was beautiful, clean, and had everything we needed. The thoughtful welcome hamper waiting for us on arrival was such a lovely surprise and made us feel so welcome. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality – we couldn't have asked for a better stay. Highly recommended! ❤️
Choose ground or first floor apartment as attic apartment is too hot and windows don't let in enough light. Mirror in bathroom fitted under eaves so too low to see yourself in if you're over 4ft tall. No long mirror in apartment either and bedroom too dark to use mirror over dressing table. Pelmets above windows and blinds hanging slightly below them block light so what little light the windows provide is further obscured by the window dressings. Was told there were only 2 floors so expected to be on first floor but attic is effectively third floor. BIG difficulty getting live TV for elde...more
A very quirky clean apartment, every thing you need to have a homely stay. The light through the windows with the sun is outstanding on a summers day. Nice to have the OS map supplied for the local area to do some of the local walks. Very close to York Racecourse and York City Centre.
My family and I had a wonderful stay. The propert is close to the city centre and has everything you need for a short stay. It was super clean and parking is right outside.
Excellent location. The flat is comfortable and spacious. Well-presented kitchen. Bedrooms are large and airy. The lounge is comfortable. The movie room is a nice touch.
The apartment is situated on a quiet street, yet just a short walk away from the Old Town. The train station, a bus station and the Mountain Goat Bus Stop are also conveniently close. There are also grocery stores and a variety of food establishments on the way back from the Old Town if a takeaway is your prefered dining option. The apartment consist of two nice separate rooms and a bathroom, all comfortably furnished for everything you need to do in an apartment: eat at a dinner table, spend a TV evening on the couch or having an early night. There are also sufficient kitchen appliances a...more
We had a lovely stay very home from home with a perfect location. Would have been nice to have the heated towel rail on.
Apartment is located in a good spot close to everything you would want to see. It is clean and well furnished although a set of drawers for storage would be a good idea. There is a kitchenette and a wine fridge but no actual fridge (again a good addition). As would be a sink as there is room. You should not that there are 3 steep flights of stairs which make carrying a large suitcase not the easiest job in the world. All in all, no real complaints for a 2 night stay.
This property is ideal for three couples who are visiting York for a short break. Location is fantastic, ten minutes walk from Clifford Tower. Property is clean and adequately equipped. It is not particularly child friendly, which we failed to pick up on initial viewing of webpage. We forgot to bring a high chair and unfortunately one could not be provided on request. Lack of WiFi was the main issue , which took 36 hours to resolve. Shower on/off lever broken which we reported on departure . Overall a 4/5 property. Would have given it 5 if WiFi and shower were working .
The welcome hamper set a very positive tone for our visit. The living room, kitchen and bedroom were attractive and comfortable. The bathroom would benefit from a fittings makeover and resealing around the bath. The lighting cord was missing and the extractor fan didn’t work. Windows in the flat were tricky to open and close. Flat centrally located although the quayside area is very noisy at night (we were there Thursday to Monday.) up until the early hours of the morning. We closed windows to reduce noise which meant it was uncomfortably warm. Overall it’s a fairly decent flat but not good ...more
Property is located in an excellent location for easy walking access into the city centre. Property looked tired in areas and needed some maintenance e.g. paint peeling off ceilings etc. Main Bed needed replacing as didn't feel secure. Very shocked not to see mattress & pillow protectors being used. Communication on Parking was confusing as some literature stated you needed a physical permit and some didn't
We liked the location. The apartmemt is most suited to a couple or parents with 1 child. I wouldn't really recommend for 4 unless they were younger children under 10. The apartment is upstairs and would not suit anyone with restricted mobility. I was dissappinted that the 'kitchen is not cleaned between visits' considering this is one of the most used areas. We found a good cleaning standard elsewhere however there were no spare bin bags and the kitchen utensils could do with some attention. Knives were not sharp and the pots were on the small side. The heating was set at 18 at night and 21...more
Re text and phone call re noise. I am 67 and my wife is 69 and was gobsmaked re someone below complaining of noise above them. As explained to Stays York we retired to sleep every evening at approximately 9pm due to serious walking around York and visiting Designer centre and walking throughout lovely city and walls. I would advise a stronger recourse to refund chasers by Stays York.
Good layout, and a calm quiet location. Very close to everything, and great options for shopping. The kitchen is not very well equipped, but that wasn't a problem for us, since we're moving here, I had a lot of my own kitchen stuff. My main complaint was the bed. It is a cheap coil mattress. The type that collapses a bit when you sit on the edge. It is quite hard. A good quality mattress topper would go a long was to making this flat more liveable. This is why I wouldn't recommend this flat to others. Everything else in the flat is fine.
Bootham apartment is in a good location for visiting York. We came by car and the parking permit ensured we could park near the property and leave the car for the whole stay. A short walk to join the walls or into the city, also cut through to the railway station/Railway museum. The property was clean with a well equipped kitchen, could do with some instructions for the microwave ! The sofa bed in the lounge was small for a medium height adult, but we managed as only staying for 2 nights. We would stay here again when visiting York.
The property is in an excellent location, with parking. The facilities provided are very good, the kitchen/dining/lounge area well appointed. The photograph of the double bed(room) does not show the facing wall - the bed only just fits in the room and only a person with very thin legs could with care get past it to the other side, so in practice they have to clamber over the bed. The luggage space is a few hangers and two small bedside cabinets. The property is upstairs via a small staircase. Overall I would recommend the property though a mention of the 'compact' double bedroom and the...more
The apartment is in a great location and a perfect base to explore York. It’s very comfortable and has everything you need for a visit to the beautiful city of York.
Quiet place, beautiful views of the river and walking distance to everything. Has its own washing machine and has some amenities to be comfy and feel like home. It doesn’t have a coffee machine and drawers to store clothes
We go to York every November and always stay here. Great Location everything you need. Beds amazingly comfortable
The apartment is in an excellent location & very spacious. It has most everything you could need however being a top floor apartment it got very hot & there was no fan to combat it, even with the open windows it was far too hot to be comfortable which I'm aware is mostly the time of year but a fan would help. It is noisy but that's to be expected with the location & it didn't bother me. My main complaint would be the beds they were so uncomfortable & flat, unless you're right on the edge you roll straight into the middle, even my 10 year old complained he couldn't get comfortable. If it wasn'...more
The first we had was before we visited the property. The was a change to our party and we asked for the set up in one of the rooms to be changed. While this was quite last minute (the day before), we were told that there would be a charge for this. On arriving at the property was, we discovered that the rooms had been incorrectly described, which meant rearranging who slept where. This was particularly challenging as one of our party is 91, with limited mobility. The staircases were quite steep and there was no handrail to the first floor, making climbing the stairs a challenge for him. The ...more
We have stayed in this flat many times over the last eight years. Although it’s not specifically sold as an accessible flat, there is plenty of space for my electric wheelchair. The shower NEEDS a non-slip mat as the surface is very slippery when wet. There was not one in evidence this year (we brought our own, and we always take removable suction grab-rails.). The large balcony is an amazing asset. The king-size bed is comfortable, if a little soft. Waitrose is just a short walk away (down Fosse Island Road). Sainsbury’s and Morrisons are a little further on. There is an amazing choice ...more
The property has holes in cushions, a filthy worn sofa, hoover stinks of dog. We raised this along with overgrown garden space which was the only thing that was completed. Owners personal belongings in garage. The property needs a complete refresh and new lounge rug as its disgusting
Ideal little place for a family meet. Short walk into town. Stays were very helpful and we were allowed to check in early.
Comfortable stay with a spacious open plan living area. The parking for one car was very convenient and the location is great for walking into the centre.
Lovely apartment, looks just like the photos and is in a great location, but there is a horrible drain smell that comes from the shower, and this would put me off ever staying again sadly.
It was a good size... comfortable enough. But you could smell the drains quite badly throughout the entire apartment, something that looks like an ongoing problem. The smell was so bad in the kitchen that we closed the door and never used it for fear of it making us unwell. The noise from the street above was terrible so bring ear plugs
The kitchen sink had a terrible sewerage smell every time you took the plug out from washing your dishes as well as when the washing machine was going. Drain cleaner was dropped off, but that did not help at all. The two single chairs in the lounge were really uncomfortable. The kitchen could do with a few more utensils, bowls, plastic containers. I did ask for dustbins and fans for the two bedrooms as it was sooooo hot in the flat, especially the loft room. We did receive these. We were not told about when and where to put out the rubbish. No recycling was offer...more
We stayed here for a month. From day one we experienced problems with the cleanliness. The sheets put on the bed had a used plaster stuck to them, the replacement had a metre wide brown stain, 3rd replacement was clean. After one visit by the cleaners the sheets had been changed and the stench off them was so bad had to wash them ourselves, how they did not notice, not sure. Had to buy our own cleaning products as none in the apartment, cleaning the bath and the floors was not on the list apparently for the cleaners. We advised the floors had not been cleaned on day one, also the toilet sea...more
Thank you for rapid response and flexible arrangements I stayed 3 months at the studio and the location is perfect
Me and some friends stayed here while we were in York for an event, it is even more spacious than it looks in the photos and we had a great time.
1 hour before arrival we was told the window had leaked .it was rotten and looked a mess there was scaffolding up to the window .blood stain on the quilt . The appartment was freezing cold even with the heating on full the raidiators were luke warm . It was uncomfortable been so cold we had to sleep with jumpers on
