This was an amazing property, the warmth and welcoming from Graham was most appreciated. A little difficulty finding it in the dark but we did get there. Such generosity and fabulous welcome pack of goodies to eat, small gestures around the area of gifts and sweets. Locality so convenient for public transport and locality of hostelries, restaurants, shops all on the doorstop. Plenty of places to eat or get take aways and even a pub next door. You will be so pleased you picked this property when you stay and will want to return. Owners Graham and Jane live local and nothing is too much t...more
My husband and I stayed in this lovely, spacious flat for 5 nights in September. We were lucky to be there because we both got covid and stayed in to recuperate and isolate. The kitchen is basic and could be better designed (e.g., the microwave door opens backwards), but it was well equipped and served us well cooking every meal. We were especially grateful for the jigsaw puzzle, which kept us from losing our minds. We particularly appreciated that we came from New York to ‘old York’ and completed a puzzle of old New York. This was a great place to be sick, and would be an even better place to...more
Excellent well maintained, clean and stylish apartment and great central location in York. Really nice to step out onto the pavement and be in the hussle and bustle of the shambles and old york. It's a busy location day and night, take sleeping ear plugs if you are sensitive to street noise. Key lock to apartment is not user friendly. Needed help on arrival and departure just to open the key box! Just a minor blip on what was an excellent stay and Stays York were very helpful.
The Parlour is ideal for two. Fitted out to a high standard with everything you need. Made to feel very welcome. Well located for the park & ride and buses into York.
Fabulous apartment in great location. Great views over York. Very comfortable, spacious and well appointed. Agents very helpful.
Our stay at the Loft at St Johns was perfect. Location was great and the flat was very well appointed. We would definitely return.
Really enjoyable visit to York - Tawny Lodge was a great place to stay, and we’d definitely book it again.
Beautiful, clean, modern accommodation. Surrounded by beautiful countryside but just a short drive into York city centre, it has everything you need. Tracey and Guy are very welcoming and accommodating.
Beautiful, clean, modern accommodation nestled in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. Easy drive into York city centre. Fully furnished to a very high standard. Tracey and Guy are very welcoming and accommodating.
As usual everything was perfect. Modern and clean feel. We choose this apartment every time we come to York
Despite the trek up three flights of stairs the apartment is definitely worth the effort! Really well appointed and everything where it should be, it's bigger than you think with plenty of room for two people. The street is lovely and quiet with a large car park just a few minutes walk complete with car charging points. Location is superb, only 5 minutes walk to town.
The Boookclub is a great find. Conveniently located, it has been cleverly designed to creat an amazing, very effective and very comfortable place to stay. A very pleasant contrast to hotels. The heating worked well. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom spacious and the shower powerful. The kitchen was clean and very functional. Two reception areas were great, and the vinyl collection downstairs was a winner. Being able to extend outside to the naughty corner was a great addition. The bookclub is a great find and well located. Plenty of places to eat nearby and the secure garage less tha...more
This was an ideal location for us. It was quiet and peaceful but still only a short distance to York. Very clean and comfortable and well equipped. Really enjoyed our stay and would return.
Extremely spacious, cozy, and immaculately clean, High-end fixtures and appliances. Comfortable beds. Excellent location. Close to shops Downtown York is just a short 5 minute walk. Stayed here with family for over 1 month. Wished we could stay forever.
Perfectly situated for exploring York. Quiet, comfortable and nicely set up for 2 couples or a family.
I liked everything and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Only one suggestion/plea: the bathroom mirror really needs a light! There's nowhere decent to do makeup. Shower lovely.
We had an amazing stay at Brecks Farm in The Cow Kennel, whilst visiting York for the Xmas market. The accommodation was spotless and warm, the beds comfortable and the kitchen well kitted out. There was even a Xmas tree set up. The drive into York was 10 mins and we found no issue with parking however if you prefer the park and ride is only a short drive away.
The overall standard of the accommodation was excellent, and we really enjoyed our stay. The apartment was clean and comfortable, as well as being well equipped and furnished. The Welcome Hamper was excellent, and really useful. The views over the surrounding neighbourhood and river were good. It was very helpful to have a designated car parking space. The location was brilliant, being just a short walk from restaurants, shops, the Minster, theatres. The provision of a Christmas tree and decorations was much appreciated. We would be delighted to return to it if we are visiting York again.
Tree Tops is an excellent apartment for a holiday. It is in a wonderful position for walking to all amenities and is very well equipped. The apartment is very well furnished and has two excellent showers. The welcome information was very comprehensive and helpful.
A real home from home in a quiet part of York city centre just around the corner from York minster and several good pubs and restaurants.
Right in the centre, 4 mins walk to the centre and car parked up safely. Service spot on and house perfect! Make sure you put the parking permit in the car, we were fine as displayed... But cars issued parking tickets in the car park and the parking warden walks the streets daily. We will be back. P.s loved the Christmas Devs, thankyou!
An absolutely stunning apartment located in the centre of the city, 5 minute walk to both the Jorvik centre and York minster, and many shops and restaurants are very close by, we parked in the Q-park shambles car park which is a secure car park 10 minutes walk from the apartment. We had a brilliant time and York stays were very helpful, would highly recommend.
Everything was wonderful. The house was easy to find , very well furnished and could not have been cleaner. We were able to walk to all the attractions, restaurants, etc. that we wanted to visit and with car parking was ideal. Thanks for a lovely break.
This is a ground floor one bedroom flat about 10 mins walk east of the city centre. It's clean and well equipped, and there is free on-street parking 5 minutes walk away. Only two small downsides. It can be a bit stuffy and the windows don't open far, plus must be closed you are out or asleep. Also, we had neighbours who shouted at 2am, but they were probably temporarily, all the flats have keys ages.
Mostly perfect my only suggestion would be to find a way of cooling the upper floors in high summer… otherwise a lovely experience all round.
Lovely cottage, very cleverly restored. Good location. Lovely welcome pack. Would recommend. Thank you.
I was so pleased I spent my birthday here, was so comfortable and also a very luxurious treat for myself , it was convenient too as the apartment was close to all the shops I needed , I will definitely be booking with stays again Thankyou.
We had a fantastic time in York. The apartment was perfect, clean and very well appointed, the beds were so comfortable. It was truly a beautiful home from home. We had no problem with any noise and the staff on the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The views were great too. I would highly recommend this apartment.
We had a lovey weekend here, and the view of Clifford tower was great, and pics of a great sunset, this was our second time here and hope to be back again ,a great place,
We had a great stay at Foss Bridge Apartment and would recommend it! The location is fantastic with most things a 10 minute walk from the apartment including supermarkets and a great selection of restaurants. The apartment itself is cozy and bright and worked well for us! Overall, a great place to stay in a fun city!
Very much enjoyed our stay in the King’s Tower. Picture and descriptions are accurate. Nice welcome package. Within easy walking distance to attractions, restaurants and grocery stores. Several car parks nearby. Stays York staff was easy to communicate with and most helpful. Apartment is on 2nd floor and no lift, which could be a consideration if mobility challenged. Would stay again and definitely recommend.
Stayed with friends plenty of room for 4 adults. Beautiful furnishings, maybe could do with comfier chairs in living room area but wasnt a big problem as we sat on the balcony if we were in. Comfy beds and good shower. We had a little problem with the door a few times it wouldnt open or lock the key just spun in the lock. Have let Stays know about the problem. Apart from this would return and recommend.
Very cosy house that has everything you need for a short break. Comfy sofa to relax, proper kitchen. One if the best place I stayed in while visiting family in York over the years.
Highly recommend, rarely leave reviews and have stayed in high quality accomodation all around the world.. it is easily up to every standard.. clean...modern..comfortable...quite and well located...nothing more to stat
On entry to the apartment block was impressive, everywhere was clean and well maintained. Apartment was amazing, would recommend!!
Could not fault the booking process start to finish. Kept up to date throughout and the property was everything we could have wished for. Spotlessly clean, probably the best place we’ve stayed in York on our 8th trip. 11/10
Superb house in a great location. Already booked again to stay next year. Stays York were excellent to deal with and couldn't have been more helpful. 10/10.
Really lovely flat situated in the heart of York just opposite the Shambles. I had originally booked a larger accommodation however a couple of our party pulled out and Stays York couldn't have been more helpful. They provided list of smaller alternative accommodation and changed our booking over without a fuss.
Amazing apartment in a great location. Will definitely be staying again. Only a 5 minute walk to the centre and shambles.
A perfectly located, extremely homey and comfortable pied a terre in the heart of a lovely old and very friendly town.We enjoyed our stay in York very much and do not hesitate to recommend 6 Monkbar Court. as a delightful holiday retreat. Located beneath an extraordinarily walkable Medieval wall there is also every possible convenience mere steps away in this charming English town whose streets are full of life (not cars!).-- John and Sunny from Toronto
From booking, the communication from Stays York was great. The apartment was very clean and beds super comfortable. It had spacious rooms and was well equipped for making use of the kitchen. The starter pack of coffee, tea, milk and biscuits was a nice touch. The location was ideal being located just minutes from the centre of York, with a wonderful view of Clifford’s Tower. However, the location on a busy road meant that noise could be heard through the night. Overall, we had a lovely stay in the apartment and would definitely stay here again when visiting York!
We love this apartment super clean and spacious. Very luxurious bedding and high end appliances. Right in the center of York with parking. It was super warm and felt really spacious we will definitely return. 5 stars from me.
The apartment was very comfortable and in a good location and I would use it again but a few small things could make it even better: 1. More places to hand towels in the bathrooms 2. A few more mugs, there are just 4 very small mugs 3. Better pillows and duvets, the pillows are uncomfortable and the duvet is very thin. They felt like they were of the very cheapest quality Also the hot water tank is too small for 4 showers one after the other, but it is easy to resolve if you switch on the immersion heater as soon as you get up. On a positive note the hair dryer worked really well and ther...more
Second time of staying at the Falcon Tap boutique apartments. I highly recommend trying these if you haven’t already done so. Fantastic location just 5 minutes from the city centre, with lots of bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the apartments. The apartments have all the amenities needed, with an easy check in & check out process. Multi-storey car park at the bottom of Toft Green / Tanner Row and also a small number of spaces (8?) on the NCP Toft Green car park which is less than 1minute walk from the apartments (NCP app required to park here but great value at £14 for 24 hour...more
We were extremely satisfied with the accommodations and really enjoyed the top floor loft lounge. The location made everything walkable. Everything was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was stocked with all amenities. And the hamper filled with local snacks was a pleasant surprise. We hope to be as lucky next time we visit to be able to stay here again!
I stayed in Cocoa Suite 15 for a month when I moved to York and was looking for a flat. It was wonderfully situated, close to bars, shops and restaurants. It was great to have a proper kitchen so I didn't have to eat out every night and there was a wee desk for me to work from. Small touches like a sensor footlight in the bathroom meant you didn't have to turn the lights on if you needed to get up in the night The geese outside the waterside windows were fabulous – I loved listening to their honking. I missed the apartment when I left and can recommend it for short or long-stay visits.
Very convenient apartment right on the edge of the town. 5 minute walk to town centre; easy 10 minute walk from York Station. Great having an on site parking space too
Thoughtful owners - welcome pack, including wine was appreciated. Well maintained and great location
Excellent property in a good location, only negative was to gain access by car the directions we were given were a little misleading and took us to the wrong building and had to ask for directions . Would definitely return.
Rambling Rose is a lovely place to stay and is well decorated. It is lovely and clean with good beds and great bathrooms. The location is excellent. The building work at the hotel was no problem.
The accommodation is very convenient for both the railway station and city centre. It is comfortable and well equipped for 2-4 people.
3 cocoa suite is a lovely place to stay in York. It is close to all amenities, lovely restaurants, pubs and shops.. The Christmas market was vibrant and festive.... This was our second stay ..We will be back...
This house is great, very homely. Close enough to centre of York to be able to walk in and enjoy all York has to offer, yet far enough away to be quiet and relaxing. Have stayed here a number of time and will be staying again.
This place is spotless and really well decorated. It couldn't be closer to York's centre and most attractions either. It is also good value for money and had it not been for the disturbed sleep, we would book again. We are sad to write this though because it is such a lovely place, but we didn't sleep great. The blind in the bedroom doesn't fully cover the window and isn't a black out blind so the room was as light as day light when the sun came up. It really could use some curtains as well as the blind. And the window in the bedroom has a second covering on it (I imagine to help block out...more
Lovely place , bed a little uncomfortable and pillows too flat , not enough toilet paper had to buy some more for length of stay,
We visit York 3-4 times a year for mini breaks full of shopping, great food ( Bettys is a must! ) and socialising and have previously stayed in another property on Precentors court, so we know how fantastic the location is! Ideal as you are straight out into the centre of York. This house is lovely. Spacious, very clean, comfy and the outside space is a real bonus! Great big table in the kitchen and nice to have the two lounges also. We will certainly be staying here again and would recommend it highly. The only very slight niggle was that, as stated by a previous review, the mattress ...more
the apartment was nice but instead of spending so much money on decorations , maybe make it more practical. for example the bedside tables are tiny but then you put a huge light on it leaving hardly space to put anything. the cloth rack , the clothes slide off. the apartment was cold as every 2 hours the heating went down. the bathroom was cold even when the heating was put up. for people who have a medical condition this is unpractical. but we enjoyed our stay very much and the location is superb. we will probably book it again for next time. However! it would recommend you tell your clean...more
We had a super stay at Gallery Apartment in Marygate. The property was clean and well equipped and we were given a very nice welcome package. We arrived earlier than planned and before checkin but they were very accommodating and allowed us to enter before the advertised check in time. Would highly recommend and will more than likely stay here again.
We stayed in York to see in the New Year & the property was fantastic. Great location & the property was very well kitted out; lovely complimentary hamper with York produce too. We’d have no hesitation in recommending the property for a long weekend.
Home-from-home accommodation in which we had a comfortable and warm stay. Kitchen well equipped - good enough to cook Christmas dinner for the family. Generous and homely soft furnishings. Wi-Fi and heating excellent. Comfortable beds and excellent bathroom - spacious and stylish. Convenient location. A well looked after and very clean property. Customer service team at StaysinYork responsive and reassuring - thank you. Cleaning team are excellent too - and we appreciated the Christmas decorations that had been put up before our arrival - a lovely surprise. Highly recommend.
Service was fantastic, location fantastic and close to everything. Very luxurious and well appointed. Bit of noise from neighbours outside lifts but mostly was very quiet. Note there is a terrace below so if people are on there the noise level would be higher. Didn’t affect us as it was winter.
The apartment is everything you would wish for a comfortable stay. I would also compliment the prompt and professional service of Stays York. Definitely recommended.
comfortable secure and very clean my colleague enjoyed his stay, enough space to park our vans and quiet enough area so he could rest after a long night shift. would definitely book again
Our party of 4 adults and a baby had a most enjoyable stay at the Ebor Suite. The apartment was clean and well equipped (although a washing up bowl would have been useful - a very minor omission) and very well placed for sightseeing. We all travelled by train and it was easy to walk around the city. A few days before arriving I found that a high chair would not, as advertised, be provided. However York Stays managed to provide one- a real life saver for the 8 month old
3 nights stay and is in good central location. However the surroudning area is pretty grim. That being said you are only 5 minute walk to a load of indepednent restaurants which is handy. Aparmtnet itself was okay, says king size bed, seemed more like a double to me. Very hot, ended up moving into the sngle bedroom which was very useful. All in all a plesant stay, had better and worse, not cheap but maybe thats accomidation in York!!
Excellent location. Good space well decorated and clean. However noise From floor above late at night and early morning was disturbing and the heating was inadequate for the property in the cold conditions we encountered during our stay. Greater instruction on recycling bins would have been helpful
Very happy with the accommodation and the location. I would definitely recommend the Flour Mill Studio
The property was clean and tidy on arrival. It had everything you could need for a short break, though kitchen layout did mean you had to reach up for the crockery. This might be difficult if you're shorter. The bed was comfortable enough and there was a firm and soft pillow. The property was quiet and the only noise we had overnight were the geese that reside on the water outside the property. Over all, I was happy with the property. I recommend taking a look.
An Excellent apartment only a few minutes walk to the city. Spotlessly clean. Had a lovely wake up call with the geese taken flight in the mornings. Loved the place.
The flat is a great space in a great location, everywhere is walkable but it is in a quiet street. The views across the abbey ruins and gardens were lovely and the layout of the whole apartment top notch. We did have a few minor concerns that we raised with Stays York and they did address them. One thing to be aware of is that the sofa and chair have very low backs and our group found them really quite uncomfortable. As it’s the end season there were some maintenance issues that needed to be addressed with the appliances and the sinks not draining away but these did not detract from our enj...more
The apartment was clean except for a dirty glass, plate and cutlery in the cupboards. I think this should be thoroughly checked for incoming visitors. My first impression was that the open plan living room/kitchen was a bit on the small side as it looks bigger on the photographs but it was comfortable and adequate for 3 nights. We had a nightmare trying to find the apartment as there are lots of traffic restrictions in the nearby streets. The parking is excellent. We even had difficulty finding the main entrance to the apartment as we didn’t know the code words given were for the what 3 words ...more
This is a lovely flat and the views look exactly as pictured. Very relaxing watching the boats on the river. A bit of noise on the weekends but just a bit and not too late. Everything in the flat operated properly (which unfortunately you can never count on with these types of holiday rentals), It was nice to have a few toys in the flat also. That being said, there were a few areas that could be improved. First, the flat looks clean at first sight, but when you look under the sofa, in the corners, or around the windows, not so much. Second, the main bed could do with replacement. It was so...more
Good communication from booking company (Stays York). Great few days in this lovely apartment. Comfy bed and good shower pressure. Kitchen well equipped and lovely welcome pack. Sainsbury just on the corner for milk, etc and very close to restaurants & bars, so easy walking. We stayed in October so quiet most nights as no one outside late unlike summer evenings. Good view of river. We would stay again.
We had a fabulous family weekend in The Birdie. 4 adults and 2 toddlers. Very well equipped for us all to eat in. Fantastic enclosed garden for the kids to run around in and lovely to see the golfers playing at the bottom of the garden. Very comfortable beds and masses of hot water. Lots of extras to make up easy picnics etc. and enough space for 2 cars off street. Would definitely be back.
It would be difficult to find a place to stay which is more central than Blake Mews and with private parking too! The house is spacious, well equipped and maintained. Even though you are in the centre of York you do not hear any noise when you are in the property. If we were planning another trip to York we would consider booking again.
Great location and peaceful All good for us but wished the bathroom had been upstairs and maybe a blind for front bedroom window.
Two-night stay for a dinner at the nearby Grand Hotel. Location perfect, everything is walkable. Easy access, flat was clean and tidy on arrival. Comfortable bed in loft-type room. We didn’t cook at all or use anything in the kitchen except the kettle but it all looked well-equipped. There was some noise from late-night revellers in the passage way beneath the bedroom window but zero traffic noise. Recommend Café Fleur in adjacent Micklegate for breakfast. And Left Luggage at the station (5 mins walk) if you need to stow luggage after check-out.
The only issue was the temperature, it was VERY warm, and turning it down was not straightforward, and to be fair when we have travelled all day we don't want to bother reading an instruction manual. Other than that, great spot, great apartment!
Within easy walking distance of attractions and many restaurants as well as Tesco Express very close by. Clean and well-equipped apartment, just lacking a washing-up bowl. We found only one hairdryer which was broken, but after a quick phone call, a new one was delivered promptly. Excellent service! Would definitely return.
Excellent house in great location. Warm and clean. The only downside is that there was no opportunity to recycle any rubbish. We contacted stays York to ask where to put the glass and they suggested with the rest of the rubbish. We left them in the house! Also it would be helpful if some additional rubbish bags and some surface cleaner could be left . BUT, notwithstanding the minor details the house is excellent!!!
What a pleasant stay we had , very clean and easy to access. Lovely layout and the bathroom is just enough. We can’t wait to come back in February
The house was as described excelent location very well equiped ,perhaps a little more storage in the second bedroom. The central heating insruction would have been usefull as the kitchen was very cold on or arival and took 24 hours to warm up
Top quality apartment in a historic building a couple of minutes walk from the centre and just far enough away from the Hustle for a bit of quiet after. You can start the wall walk just a brief stroll away. Its hard to imagine a better location. Secure parking, Fixtures and fittings all spot on. Would definitely re-book.
316 Westgate is in an excellent location with secured parking. Easy walk to all attractions and restaurants.
Very spacious plenty of kitchen facilities, dishwasher, microwave & washing machine. Kitchen tap leaked and water flowed along work surface and made everything wet !!! Bathroom plenty big enough, shower leaked near toilet over the floor, otherwise ok. Very bright and airy, windows and Juliet balcony doors opened allowing fresh air throughout. Quite pricey stayed in similar for cheaper price.
Myself and my partner loved The Loft. It was warm and comforting. We stayed for a total of 3 months and a week. Stephanie, the owner lives next door and she was a marvellous host. She was very helpful and hospitable. We did however feel that the management company (Stays York) could have done a bit more. We had to initially tell them to send cleaners in, which they subsequently did every 2nd friday. The cleaner's as well didn't to a thorough enough job. The apartment would be clean, but it could have been done to a better standard. This in no way reflects on Stephanie who was brilliant as a...more
Great central location, no street noise however. Very comfy bed. Be prepared to climb three flights of stairs. Very clean. Basics for a short stay provided. Two downsides that need fixing … Bathroom fan stays on permanently and is noisy! No bedside lamps and you need to get out of bed to get to main light switches! Would return though ( and it would be even better if those two things were sorted!)
Lovely apartment in picadily area of york quiet end of town but close enough for pubs and restaurants and a Tesco express just a five minute walk or less. The apartment was clean, had underfloor heating lovely wee veranda to sit with a drink (not much of a view). The veranda could have done with a bit of a clean but the apartment itself was spotless. Only thing that I would say is that the apartment was really hot, even after turning down the heating it still stayed between 24-26 degrees. We were out most of the time so didn't bother us too much. All in all a good apartment to sta...more
Fantastic stay, we would highly recommend it. Great location for all the attractions and close to high street with great shops & restaurants. Very clean property, with all the amenities you could need.
Can't fault the Brierley. Our seventh time there! I've given 4 stars for value for money as that's a hard one to call because everything has gone up so much. Basically the Brierley isn't cheap but worth every penny! It's so comfortable and there's even a parking space. The only thing lacking is a lift or stairlift to get up to the first floor as we take my mum who's now well into her nineties and she struggles a bit these days. Once inside the apartment it's perfect for her though, lots of space and all on a level and so comfortable. Beautiful place. And very well looked after by Stays York.
We stayed here for 2 nights over the new year period. Very central minutes walk to the minster. Apartment was clean and an ideal base. We did have an issue with the tv but that was resolved super fast by Stays. The apartment was lovely and warm and the bed comfortable. I would stay again.
Stonegate Court is a Gorgeous apartment, very clean and in a fantastic location, right in the heart of beautiful York, everything you could need is provided. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
A nice compact apartment (a bit snug for 3). Well equipped with lovely bathroom. The layout from the photos has changed with the sofa and table swapped which made it feel a bit cramped. Didn't use the balcony but this would be a real plus in the summer. Convenient for the centre and City Walls. Nice and quiet overall. A few minor maintenance issues which we've reported so hopefully they'll be rectified for the next guests. A good break and Stays York are always very friendly and helpful with good communication.
A fantastic, quiet place to stay in York overlooking the River Fosse. It is within easy walking distance of the Minster and Art Gallery and is on the doorstep of the Castle Museum with views of Clifford's Tower. Would certainly stay there again if visiting York. Stays York were excellent to deal with.
Modern and light, but also cosy in the evenings. Kitchen very well kitted out with everything you need. Very comfortable bed. Excellent location as very quiet in the courtyard, but very short walk to bus stop - buses run regularly into York. We had a lov3ly holiday here.
Great location - can easily walk to all the wonderful sites and restaurants of York - comfortable beds and all the facilities for a short stay in York
Great location and modern facilities. Stayed 9 nights. Very comfortable. Two issues requiring attention. Carpet is a trip hazard and stairs light goes out too soon.
Great Stay!1111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111
I stayed at The Chambers for two months and am missing the place. It was fantastic - the furniture and appliances are high-end, the bed is comfy, the shower is great too. We experienced both warm and cold weather during our stay and the flat was fine in both, it’s well insulated and the central heating picks up very quickly. The flat is on a lovely street just a short walk from the City walls and the train station. My partner and I really enjoyed the convenience of being so close to transport links, but also having quiet parks like the Museum Gardens close by.
Lovely property everything you need and perfect location to everything. 2 lovely local pubs within 100 yards of each other. Couldn’t ask for more. Check in was easy and will be booking again.
This was the perfect location for a City break, it had everything we needed in the kitchen, it was very clean and comfortable. Two things would have made it better, an en-suite for the main bedroom and not all the bedroom windows opened well. I would stay again.
I really loved the location of the apartment, just around the corner from the main attractions on offer. The place felt safe and secure and there was easy access to car parking etc. However the apartment was not equipped very well. There was barely enough washing liquid for 3 days for example. The place also needed a clean as the tea towel (only 1) was stained and smelled used when we arrived. The surfaces also needed a clean in the bathroom. Although we also found the bed and sofa very comfortable there was an issue with flickering blue light with flashed on every few minutes outside the ...more
I planned this as a surprise getaway for my wife, who is a huge HP fan. She loved the look and what they have managed to create in such a cosy place. The flat is located perfectly just outside the Shambles, it only takes you a short walk to reach it, the walkway at the rear made it super quick and keep's you away from the traffic. We also used Q-Park just across the water which was very convenient. The only negatives we had are easily fixed ones, far side bed side lamp did not work, there was a bit of black mould in the shower and we could not find the remote control for the heating anywher...more
We stay in York for a week every December to do our Christmas shopping. Our two main priorities for somewhere to stay are central location and parking. The Dutch House was the perfect location with the added bonus of onsite secure parking - fabulous! The house was quirky, warm, very clean, and comfortable. Another bonus was that it was only round the corner from our favourite restaurant in York - Little Italy- not to be missed for authentic dishes (no pizzas!). It was a pity that there was no welcome pack, as shown on the pictures, and even mentioned in the visitors book, Some milk would ha...more
A great location. a comfortable apartment. Unfortunately every footstep heard from the floor above.
The property is in very good standard and good location, very easy to walk to city center, the only draw back was not having an extracter for the kitchen cooking, otherwise a comfortable stay overall.
Cute little house, perfectly located for a beautiful break in York. Updated bathroom and thoughtful decoration make the most of this two up two down cottage. Quiet location, despite being so central
We loved our stay and we would like to stay again. Positives - location, views, beds, concierge staff, decor, noise levels, toiletries, towels. All great. Areas for improvement - some items were missing from the welcome pack, there were no coffee pods or dishwasher tablets. No indication as to which nespresso pods to buy so I ended up wasting £4 on the wrong ones. Would be useful if a washing up sponge and spare bin bag were provided. This wouldn’t cost a lot to provide! Cleanliness could have been a little better, hairs in the bathroom, the lounge was a little dusty in places but not enoug...more
A fantastic place once you sort the key out would definitely stay there again everything you want is within walking distance
House is well equipped and very clean. The location is absolutely central in Amble and i would recommend it, even for people with pets, as it was ideal for our Dog.
Great location, everything you need. Stayed as a group in the same block. Key safe for entry was simple. Some issues with hot water in one of the rooms and given a master key that opened every room that was wasn’t good, and told we we’re in a room occupied by someone else. But resolved quickly. Definitely stay again.
A good location for visiting all the old city within the walls and the museums and attractions. The apartment itself was comfortable and well presented. Access was easy and the stairs leading to the apartment were light and airy. As the weather was hot we needed the electric fan and also the windows open. Consequently, there was some noise from the nearby street. We could have done with some more drinking glasses. There was also a problem with the television reception and not all freeview channels were available.
Stayed in the house for the 2nd time and once again it was excellent. Great location to walk into York away from the hustle bustle but has some lovely local bars and shops on the Bishy Road. Have recommended to friends who are coming to York for the racing as it’s a fantastic location for that.
We absolutely loved our time at York Cottage. The location is great, short walk to Sandsend, and it will be even better once the nearby hotel opens. The property is decorated to a really high spec and everything was lovely and clean when we arrived. Cannot recommend enough and hope this will not be our last stay.
We stayed here as a group of 10 with ages ranging from 4 to nearly 80 and had a lovely time. The house is in a perfect location, really close to the centre and surrounded by lovely coffee shops, bars and restaurants. There's plenty of room to spread out and have space and the dining area and lounge area were plenty big enough for us all. The kitchen is well equipped and I don't think we were missing anything. There host is beautifully furnished and decorated and it's full of character. The only downsides were the house one the front bedrooms from passing traffic and the third bed in the upstai...more
We booked this property as a group of 6 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We loved the layout of the house, modern feel and how comfortable the beds were! If we had to give some constructive feedback, I’d say: Location: although only 20 minutes from York centre, the location maps were somewhat confusing and all of our party were travelling seperarely but couldn’t find the property easily. It mentions a ‘blue’ door entrance but I’d say it’s been updated to a green/mint colour since these instructions. It made us doubt what house we were entering! Comfort: overall the comfort of the be...more
It’s a lovely spot and so convenient for the centre. I was there for 3 months although the very noisy geese in the river lagoon/basin going bonkers 24/7 is waring and you don’t get used to it believe me. Best Nigel
Overall a great stay, lovely apartment but under the surface there were a few minor details that disappointed, all insides of the wardrobes hadn’t been cleaned so when hanging clothes they all got very dusty, part of the cupboard in the kitchen was hanging off and unable to open windows easily so cooking smells left in the air, scratches on the places mats, all very minor things but just let the apartment down slightly! However would definitely stay again
We had a really lovely stay here, so close to the centre, just 10 min walk. The parking space which is very handy indeed, particularly for a small car as it is tight to get in and out. Very comfortable with everything needed for our stay. It is fresh and very well kept, beds are comfy, kitchen has it all. It is a quiet enough area, taking in to consideration it is in the heart of the city. It would be nice to have some recycling facility at the property, or information on how to do so. Would wholeheartedly recommend a stay here and thanks to all at Stays York, your kindness, friendlyness, t...more
A good place to stay for a short break. A quiet location away from the city centre but close to the bus route, Outlet, Askome P&R and Bishopsthorpe village. We would stay again.
We stay in this apartment every year for a family catch up . It is always extremely relaxing and we can stay in or go out to sample the delights of York in the run up to CHRISTMAS as the apartment is close to the centre . The apartment is clean and always warm and cosy .
If you're looking for a cozy place to stay in the centre of York, look no further. The cottage is clean, easy to access off of one of York's main thoroughfares, and has all the comforts and amenities of home. We especially appreciated the 2 large bedrooms with private bathrooms. I love my family and friends ... but sometimes it's nice to be able to grab a hot shower at the end of a day and not worry about someone frantically needing the toilet the moment the shampoo hits your hair. We also really appreciated that the stay was dog friendly. There was a lot of greenery nearby, allowing us to...more
Its a beautiful home. Great Location. Very neat and clean place. Would really like to come back. Tesco is just next door Primark is close by Restaurants are all walking distance Great views from our place
Very convenient location with parking! Apartment was of a high standard with all you need for a short/long stay! Felt very secure! York is a great city with so much to do - all on your doorstop from this apartment. Shower could do with a shelf to put your shampoos etc! Everyrhing was clean and well looked after - would book again in a heartbeat!
The location of 10 Stonegate is what makes this property stand out. My husband and I stayed here once before in 2018. The property was in much better shape 5 years ago. Housekeeping has declined significantly since then. Windows needed cleaning. The front doormat was filthy and needed to be replaced. Carpets in both bedrooms stained, dirty, and in need of a deep clean. A significant amount of crumbs and tissues under the furniture cushions. (Stays York responded immediately and a team came and cleaned under the cushions). Kitchen cabinet exteriors were sticky. Large kitchen rubbish container l...more
We had visited friends at Ryedale house in the previous Spring and we were impressed by the quality of the apartment and location of the apartment. So, we booked City Pad apartment for two nights in November 2024 to take advantage of the location, (near to York Barbican). Although not the same apartment, we liked the great car parking space, cleanliness and function of City Pad and as already stated its location in relation to the venue. Couple of small niggles: Not really enough storage space in the bedrooms and especially the ensuite bathroom - struggled even to find somewhere to put a was...more
Convenient location. Very clean, good heating. Car parking space very helpful. However extremely cramped and lacking in equipment and furnishings such as coffee table and bedside tables, not enough cutlery. Bed did not fold into the wall despite instructions being provided. No storage space or kitchen surface space. Oven turned off every time the oven door was opened. Ill fitting windows, very draughty. Had to keep rearranging dining room chairs to create surface space.
Excellent stay. Super close to central. We had everything we needed. We’ve used Stays York two years in a row
Very nice 2 bedroom apartment on the 1st floor. It had a large double room and a smaller bedroom with 2 single beds (quite compact). The bathroom had a lovely shower over the bath and soap was provided but not shower gel or shampoo. The living area was spacious and the kitchen well appointed with all mod cons (dishwasher, washing machine, cooker, microwave and fridge freezer etc), you also get a small welcome pack with tea/coffee, uht milk and a few dishwasher/washing machine tablets. I like the fact you have reserved parking in a security gated courtyard. The keystore when you first arri...more
Easy check in, secure parking, spacious and luxurious, we enjoyed the city views, very close to the centre and the city walls. We stayed for a week and was very comfortable, we will definitely stay again.
This apartment was perfectly located and full of everything we needed for our 4 night stay in York. 5 - 10 minute walk to the shambles and Yyork Centre and a 5 min walk to the Morrisons supermarket.the apartment is modern with plenty of space and a large walk in shower. Only a couple of small issues which could of improved our stay are. . The matress was really soft which me and my Wife found left us with not having the best sleep and achy backs, this is obviously personal preference. . The base of the shower round the seal was very moldy. Apart from this I could not fault the cleanline...more
The apartments were perfect for our 3 night stay in York. They are conveniently located, just a short walk away from the centre. The apartment was lovely, very clean and spacious, with everything you are likely to need. I would thoroughly recommend 37 Cocoas Suites and Stays York who manage the bookings. They were communicative and very helpful before and during our visit.
Clean, comfortable apartment inside the historic city walls of York. Close to convenient city parking lot that allows overnight parking when paying through the app. It has a small kitchen (which we did not use) and an All-in-One washer/dryer which was convenient. The apartment does not have air conditioning. It is on the ground floor and, for security, the window only opens 2 inches. There is not much ventilation and the apartment was warm and a bit stuffy. A fan was provided and I set it up next to the window to try to get as much air as possible. The bathroom was very clean, but it did have...more
The house was spotlessly clean. The kitchen was excellently equipped, and the living-dining area was very comfortable. There were no problems with cooking smells. The bedrooms were comfortable with good beds. the area is very peaceful, with traffic calming measures. There is a corner shop very close, the shops of Bishopthorpe Road are 5 minutes away on foot, and it is an easy walk to the centre of York. On the down side: people keep putting their rubbish in the wheels bin; the washing machine broke down and was fixed, but the dryer still did not work; the fridge was often warm. The top floo...more
We had a very happy stay in York. Sadly the WiFi didn’t work and we had no response from the number the owner had told us to contact her on any time. However when we contacted StaysYork they responded quickly with a solution The dishwasher wouldn’t open fully as the washing machine prevented it. That needs sorting. A lovely place to stay and close to all we wanted. Thank you. I’m
The location of this apartment is excellent, being only a couple of hundred yards from the Minster. It's also very nice to step out of the door and find yourself in the very heart of York. The apartment itself was less than ideal however. Firstly it could have been cleaner. There were cobwebs hanging from the very low ceiling, which was a little off putting. In addition, the flat is actually on the third floor of the building rather than the second, as it says in the description, and the final very cramped flight of stairs could be very challenging for many people. The descripti...more
We pre booked 3 of the apartments on 34 Coney street, the booksellers, the Viking suite and Servants quarters and they did not disappoint, all 3 apartments were swanky, clean, and the décor was outstanding. I would highly recommend 34 Coney street to anyone looking to book 5 star apartments.
We like to stay here as it’s a gorgeous little house and the location is great (a quiet cluster of streets in the city centre). Works for either train or car travel. Being surrounded by all the books makes us feel very peaceful!
The property is ideally situated with a fantastic view of the Minster. The furnishings are comfortable, clean and modern and the shower is excellent. The only suggestions we have are that the property would benefit from a second TV downstairs and that while it was easy to use the hob and combined microwave/oven/grill it was extremely difficult to wash up as there is nowhere to drain crockery, pans etc.
Great location, fantastic high street, short walk into centre of York Property was ideal, would recommend this accommodation and would definitely book again
Good location with just a short walk into the centre, either along the river or through the museum gardens. The property was very comfortable and warm with everything we needed. Secure parking was a useful feature.
The customer service from yourselves was outstanding, unfortunately not from the property owner. Under the circumstances we had a relaxing stay and will use you again in the future to stay in another property.. We had a very close family bereavement to which the property owner refused a date change .
Customer service fabulous and on hand for any issues. Also let us access the room early to drop bags which was nice. The room itself was overpriced for what it was. The bathroom was clean and the bedroom was clean. However zero windows in the room opened abs there was no air con. There was a fan but when put on max, it did hardly anything. Old and insufficient fan. If I'd asked my friend to fan me with a piece if paper it would have been more powerful than that fan. So no ventilation at all in the room. Also, guests above us noisy until 2am. Heard every creak and bang... You can guess.
We had a last-minute stay after dropping our daughter off at university. The location was excellent, and while our view was of a building site, it didn’t bother us. Access instructions were clear and easy to follow, which made checking in hassle-free. One of our priorities was secure parking, which was available, though the space was very tight. Luckily, no one parked next to us, as that would have made using the space very difficult. We stayed in the larger bedroom for the extra space, but the mattress was too soft and could definitely use replacing. The bathroom was generally clean, al...more
This apartment is superbly located and an ideal size for a couple. There is a fair bit of road noise but that didn't bother us too much. We were initially surprised to be informed that our service clean would be fortnightly instead of weekly as advertised and stated in the welcome folder. However Stays York did rectify this at our request which we appreciated. This was the second time we have stayed in this apartment and overall it met our needs and we were very satisfied. Stays York were always helpful and very responsive to any queries.
We loved our stay at Walmgate cottage, it’s in a great location and has a lot of character. Highly recommended.
The heating was not working. The engineer came quickly and repaired it but it broke down again. The broken table was still broken from our last stay. Although comfortable and convenient for the city the apartment is in need of some tlc. I would not recommend this property until these matters are attended to, others we have stayed in have been better and we would recommend the property as a whole.
Apartment 3 is on the top floor of a set of apartments off Toft Green. It's airy and comfortable and excellently located. Micklegate has lots of pubs, cafes and shops and just a few minutes walk over the bridge to York "proper". The kitchen area is good though it doesn't have a dishwasher. The main "problem" was lack of storage space. There's a coat rack in the hallway and a narrow dressing table but no cupboard space at all, not even in there bedroom where there's two round tables where you would expect to find two bedside cabinets. All in all we were happy staying here and would consider i...more
The property was clean and tidy and the welcome pack provided is very helpful to get you started but with this property we had issues parking as the street is very narrow and busy, the alternative street parking is also not very convenient with the residents not being happy when you park outside their property even though legally anyone can park there. The mattresses in the bedrooms need replacing as you could feel all the springs so it was not a comfortable nights sleep.
We loved the property----beautiful with beamed ceilings and brick walls! It was nearby to restaurants, grocery stores and just a short walk to The Shambles. Being right in city center meant that we could walk just about anywhere in a short period of time. The only problem we had was with the parking registration, but that was eventually sorted out.
Good accommodation, Living area quite ‘snug’ for 6 people, but ok. Quite a walk through the hotel estate towards Sandsend. Some of the appliances need some attention- kettle handle and mixer tap.
In general, we were satisfied with the stay. There were just not enough kitchen utensils and no vacuum cleaner for cleaning.
Very well located for centre of York and although the parking space is tight it is a big bonus to have. Thank you to Brian for the warm welcome when he gave us the keys. Kitchen was well stocked with equipment.
After booking a different apartment for our trip to York it got cancelled it was changed to Cocoa lofts at the last minute. We are now really pleased it was changed. This apartment was very easy to access and private parking was also a bonus. It is in a great location for the city. It was very clean and comfortable, however slightly too warm, with no option of a thinner blanket or duvet. Other than that there's nothing I would change.
Great flat for a short stay in York great location Had problems finding the flat but the stays York staff were very helpful when I called for help great team Pillows were lumpy when brought to there attention was replaced immediately The mattress needs replaced springs sticking out not comfortable Would like hooks in bathroom and the shower needs a mat Supermarket at the end of the street very handy for provisions Was disappointed with welcome pack not as good as I have had in other accommodations in York
This is our second stay at the property and have already booked another. The location is perfect with everything right on your doorstep, including a stunning view of the minster from the living room, yet the property is quiet. Good size kitchen for cooking and living room for relaxing, cannot fault it at all.
We stayed as a family of 4 adults. The apartment was really beautiful, very bright a super layout. Everything in the living/kitchen area was just perfect. The not so positive would be the bedrooms. The mattress on both beds was truly awful, a very cheap foam like mattress and none of us slept well either nights due to this. Because if this we would choose one of the other Stays York apartments in the same building as we have stayed in 2 others that weren’t available for our dates and they had extremely comfortable beds and we all had a blissful sleep in those. The hairdryer in the ...more
Clean and cosy, great location for people using the train. Was easy to eat in, and instructions to use everything and access the room were very clear. Walls are very thin so a lot of noise from the others in the apartment block, opening doors and watching tv.
Great location. I would say best cleaning under the chairs and settee in the living area. Make more of the garden some colour in it would be nice.
Grooms cottage was easy to find, in a quiet location just behind a small park but with easy access into the City. It was very modern with all appliances you need and clean and tidy. Comfy beds, nice en-suite to a very large master bedroom. Great bonus is the allocated parking space for one car as the street has no parking. One small negative comment for us was the outside area with table and chairs had not been prepared at all which was disappointing as the sun was out on arrival but we soon sorted this with a brush and cleaned the table and chairs down with soap and water. The house was within walking distance of the city centre, ideal as there was parking. A well fitted & comfortable property had everything we needed for a three night stay.
The property was clean, tidy and had all the amenities. It was within walking distance to the city centre and supermarkets. There are also a couple of bus stops nearby and there is a parking space for one car outside the property. We had a peaceful, relaxing and comfortable stay at Backyard No 2. The only suggestion we would like to make is that it would have been nice to have a wardrobe or clothes rail in the bedrooms. We would definitely recommend the property for anyone wanting to stay in York.
Business stay for 12 nights - apartment was very clean and comfortable, and had everything you need for a short break of longer stay. Two double rooms, but I only tried one bed and slept well. The night of my arrival was freezing cold, and the heating hadn't been switched on so that first night was very chilly, but it didn't take too long to heat up and I had no further issues for the rest of my stay. Having a washing machine was a big help with travelling for work. The location is fantastic, so close to everything right in the middle of town. I was initially concerned it may be noisy at ni...more
I absolutely loved my stay at knavesmire. It was a beautiful little studio in a great location. I will miss it sorely. I stayed for two and a half months. The communication was brilliant. We had some plumbing problems first with the shower/toilet and then later with the kitchen sink and washing machine. It was frustrating but they were on it immediately and even re houses me for two nights when the plumbing problem took longer than intended.
Very spacious, very clean and has everything you need - the log burner is an added bonus. It is in a great location for exploring York. Would highly recommend!
A perfect base just outside of the city. The cottage felt homely, was beautifully decorated and exceeded our expectations. We wished we had booked a longer stay!
We’ve previously used Stays York on our trips to York & will highly recommend them as a company. The little details were somewhat missing this time (normally we get a Yorkshire hamper with local goodies to taste, this time it was just individual teabags/coffee/milk & a small twin pack of biscuits) & the customer service wasn’t great when we contacted them about not finding something in the apartment after checking in, but that could be due to the bank holiday weekend approaching. Pawson House is a great location if you want to explore the north side of York. It can benefit from having more cu...more
On booking I was asked how we would like the second bedroom I requested twin beds this was not carried through. The cottage itself is beautiful .
Lovely place , location and great for my 4 day trip to York, I liked the decoration and space, it's just around 15 mins on bus to York city centre, this was deliberate as I wanted somewhere quieter , I didn't want to go home . 5 stars
Group of 3 couples Sunning property innan excellent location. Everything you need is provided. Beds are super comfy and bathrooms were excellent. Couldn't fault it! Highly recommend.
We stayed over Christmas and overall enjoyed it. Instructions were very clear on arrival. Toilet seat was hanging off though - i notified StaysYork and was disappointed that the previous person staying had noted this in a review but hadn't been fixed before we arrived. House is comfortable - and dishwasher would have been a useful addition. Overall good but quite expensive for what it is.
The apartment is in a good location not far from the railway station. It has a very spacious main room which incorporates a kitchenette. The shower room is a little cramped. The main room was sparsely decorated but comfortable. I had a bit of a problem with the keysafe mainly because I was unfamiliar with them. A call to Stays York sorted that problem out. All in all I enjoyed my stay at the value for money apartment.
The Residence is centrally located in York and beautifully decorated. For the price, I would have expected them to have provided more toilet rolls and the basics such as washing up liquid, but these seemed to be lacking. The kitchen was reasonably well equipped but was missing some essentials for a self catering property such as a measuring jug. Overall cleanliness was very good on the surface however under the sofa cushions and beds were filthy so feel the cleaners should do a more thorough clean once in a while. Beds were very comfortable apart from the middle room…if you sit on the side of ...more
The effort made to adapt its beautiful architecture to modern needs is remarkable. In terms of aspects to improve, it would be worth considering the possibility of including a second bathroom on the first floor, access is a bit inconvenient, we had problems with the heating and the double room had rubbish under the beds.
The house is in a brilliant location, being an easy few minutes walk into York whilst in a quiet street. Parking was good - we managed to park almost outside the door throughout our 4 night stay. The house is warm and very comfortable; sitting area works well though might be cosy for 6 people and dining area offered good space to sit together around the table. This could be a really great house; unfortunately the kitchen and bathroom do let it down. The kitchen is adequately equipped but if you like to cook proper meals it is difficult; the only chopping board is a piece of granite which was...more
Small but comfortable cottage with everything you need. Good location on a gated private estate with easy access to central York. You can hear the sound of the A65 if you have the windows open but not enough to be an issue.
Second time at the cottage and we enjoyed our visit. The beds were very comfortable. Convenient parking although second spot was taken by a guest from another cottage. The administration was good and the hamper was nice. A couple of things were missing from the first visit such as oven gloves and small oven dishes to cook Christmas dinner which we couldn't do this time. A second small settee, where the arm chair is, would be an improvement. Larger cereal bowls would be handy too.
Had an amazing stay at the servants quarters and it was almost faultless. Spacious, clean, amazingly decorated and designed and very well equipped. The only two things marked as a 4 instead of a 5 were not enough to detract from a great stay, but more for feedback and consideration. The large tap over the bath was leaking and started to create a puddle behind the bath which just needs looking at as it could damage the floor more than anything. And with it being under ground, if you were a light sleeper, the noise of people walking above could be an issue but I’d just recommend picking another ...more
We had a great weekend away in York and the apartment was perfectly situated. A modern, quirky, well equipped apartment and we really enjoyed our stay.
Overall very pleasant place to stay in York. We’ve been in a couple different staysYork houses and accommodations and we thought this one was very good for our family. Only thing to improve is to have parking closer as we had to go use a council run parking lot.
The location was easy to get to and instructions to check in were clear. However, we felt that the accommodation itself was a little underwhelming and wasn't necessarily geared up for a stay of more than a night or two. The courtyard was dirty and covered in leaves and little apples which wasn't ideal for having a dog to stay. We decided to brush up the mess and ended up leaving the courtyard in a much better state than when we found it. The door to the courtyard doesn't fit properly and stops you from opening it fully making it difficult to bring bags in and out. We ended up not using the ...more
The apartment is a great size, clean, big bedrooms, comfy beds. Location couldn't be better, self check in was easy. Would be good if permit parking was available outside the road. The kitchen isn't very well equipped though, for an apartment for 6 people there were only 3 tumbler glasses, the draining mat was mouldy, 1 tea towel is not enough, no small chopping knife. The overall decor felt slightly tired and there's bad damp/water damage stains down the wall near the window in the bedroom at the back. Sofa was very comfy though! Communication with the rental company was excellent. Over...more
Stayed for a weekend in 123 Nunnery Lane and thought it was great! Very comfortable apartment in a brilliant location. Great bars and restaurants very close by and not far to walk into the city centre. Company was very helpful to deal with and sorted access to the property early. Would recommend this apartment without hesitation.
The parking permit worked well - parking is in Nunnery Lane carpark 10 minutes walk. It might be possible if not too busy to pull up close to the apartment to unload first. The instructions for gaining entry were fine - there are 5 doors and two short flights of stairs. The second door requires gentle fiddling until it magically opens. Apartment seems recently renovated and was spotless on arrival. There’s a large double height kitchen/living space , shower room and double bedroom on the ground floor and a bathroom and attic bedroom upstairs. There is a sliding door into the apartment but othe...more
Beautifully presented, dog friendly cottage which has almost everything you would have in your own home. Cottages have private parking & an outside seating area. There are a couple of short walks around the lake and woodland area within the estate - there is a shortcut to Sandsend through the woods & across a field, which was full of cows, so we got a dog friendly taxi instead -£10 to either Sandsend or Whitby. Only one pub open in Sandsend now but plenty of other places fairly nearby to visit, Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes & Falling Foss to name a few. Dozens of pubs & cafes along with a go...more
Great place to stay right in the heart of York. Well equipped kitchen/lovely bathrooms and comfy beds. Only downside is noise at night from main road. Bring earplugs.
The place was convenient to the train station and city centre. It was comfortable and clean. The slight glitch was the tv and music stations did not have any signal and could not watch the normal programmes only through app like bbc iplayer, etc. Otherwise it was safe enough place to stay.
Property is located in an excellent location for easy walking access into the city centre. Property looked tired in areas and needed some maintenance e.g. paint peeling off ceilings etc. Main Bed needed replacing as didn't feel secure. Very shocked not to see mattress & pillow protectors being used. Communication on Parking was confusing as some literature stated you needed a physical permit and some didn't
The property is right in the heart of the city so is a great place to easily explore all that York has to offer. There are reasonably steep stairs to the apartment and the apartment is on 3 floors. First floor has 2 bedrooms and a narrow bathroom. All of these were clean and tidy and comfortable. Door handles on some of the doors were loose and the bathroom lock could be dodgy so some simple maintenance required to make these better. 2nd floor has the lounge and kitchen areas. The lounge was comfortable and a good size but could do with a couple of extra comfortable chairs especially if more t...more
This was a really well located property, which offered flexibility on the number of people it could accommodate. There were a few issues with the property; the downstairs cloakroom toilet seat was broken when we arrived, and the top of the hot tap in the same bathroom was loose. Unfortunately, there may have been a problem with the plumbing as the pipes could be very noisy and the top floor shower could not drain away, meaning that the shower tray filled up very quickly with water. I would suggest that the kitchen equipment could have been improved upon (e.g. no serving spoons, serving bowls, ...more
Unfortunately my wife was rushed into hospital the day before we were to begin our holiday and we had to cancel. Maybe next year!
Quiet place, beautiful views of the river and walking distance to everything. Has its own washing machine and has some amenities to be comfy and feel like home. It doesn’t have a coffee machine and drawers to store clothes
Great location, close to the centre. Modern apartment with lovely decor and spacious rooms. We didn't have the best nights sleep a unfortunately as the matresses weren't very comfortable, it felt like you could feel every spring! Being on the ground floor, close to the entrance noise was an issue overnight... also as it was a very hot weekend it was difficult to feel safe with the windows open as they didn't have safety catches. Overall it was okay, just a shame we didn't sleep better!
Perfect location for the city centre. About 5-10 minute walk. Shops nearby for any essentials needed. Lovely apartment with everything you need and has been renovated to an high standard. Good price for location and what you get. Apartment 1 is downstairs which isn’t made clear so not accessible for some people.
We thought this was a beautifully finished and excellently located property for a weeks city break in York, however it's just too small for a family and lacking some plastics in kitchen for children. Our boys are 13 and 10 and there was nowhere for us all to sit and watch TV on a night we there is only a 2 seater couch in the lounge (which is very uncomfortable and thin). If you have younger children you wouldn't be able to bath them as shower screen in bathroom blocks access to taps and very hard to access plug etc round it. It's really a gorgeous tiny house but only for adults. It's also ter...more
Lovely Apartment but in need of some TLC decking really grubby needs some maintenance not in good condition Trays in cooker needs replaced filthy Could be a beautiful apartment if simple things not done cheaply such as Welcome pack poor to other apartment have stayed in Would recommend if above do done Near to amenities would stay again if above addressed
Everything good quality, comfortable, convenient, and straightforward. Suggestion - somewhere to hang up a few clothes would be helpful (eg, simall wall rail with hangers). Excellent location for city and transport.
Excellent one bedroom apartment in the centre of York. Comfortable bed, lovely lounge/kitchen area and a modern bathroom. The kerb appeal would be even better than it is if the weeds were cleared.
Well equipped and comfortable apartment. Found the television difficult to operate as could not find channel listing. The only real concern we had was with the lift being out of service, we are both 75 and found that 68 stairs was difficult for us to cope with. It made our stay very uncomfortable especially on arrival and departure. This could influence our decision to return in the future, a real shame as we liked the accommodation.
Perfect little place to explore the heart of York. A short stroll from the minster, the shambles, and all the restaurants, shops and bars that york has to offer. Highly recommend this wee gem and will definitely stay again. Has everything you need to be comfortable.
We stayed for three weeks. Pros: - good location - easy 25 minute walk into town or is next to a bus stop, couple of nice pubs and a cafe nearby - good size and is equipped with everything you need Cons: - the bathroom - I’m five foot four and I couldn’t fit underneath the shower. The bathroom is very narrow so if you’re slightly larger sitting on the toilet may be an issue - the lighting - it looks nice but isn’t functional at all and combined with the dark walls makes it very dark - we had a lot of issues with the parking - the parking space is fairly small but ok for a mid size ...more
I've been staying in this apartment over a month. The apartment is located in the middle of town so it's so vey convenient to get in and out with no waste of time. It's very comfortable to stay with all amenities that you need. Beautiful decor. On the downside, you can hear the noise from upstairs squeaky floorboards and tumble dryer during the night. Outside the apartment the bins are constantly being collected on the alley because the apartment is surrounded by restaurants. It can be noisy some nights when drunken people are around so will recommend you to buy ear plug.
The city WALLS sanctuaries are perfectly located for us when we attend the York early music Christmas festival, taking place at Saint Margarets church Walmgate. Number 19 city WALLS on the second floor. It’s a very well appointed flat. The two bedrooms are conveniently, situated in a corridor off the main living room and kitchen area. Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons supermarkets are all within a 5 to 10 minute walk. The flat is warm and comfortable and has a well equipped kitchen. We have, the past, stayed at number 26 and 28 city WALLS. This was our first day at number 19. The only negative ...more
This is one of those "I could live here" places. Felt at home from the off. Which is even better, given the last minute personal issues we faced before setting off. Warm and comfy. It suited our needs for the 3 nights we were there. Ideally situated for shops, restaurants cafes etc. Big Supermarket was a short walk as well. Surprisingly quiet given the location. Note: We had no problems, but, the living areas are 2nd & 3rd floor. So you have to go down a level Everytime you go out. The ground floor is a large entrance, with lots of storage for cases, prams, wheel chair etc. there's a toilet an...more
The house is in a great location 10 minutes walk to any off the attractions The only negative was the rubbish left in the hallway but not to much of a problem The house was well priced will defo book again
All aspects was fantastic. The location was right in the centre on the main high street. The room was clean, lovely and bed was comfy. Can not fault one bit. Can’t wait to go back and see another of the themed rooms Thank you guys
It’s located in a good area, restaurants, pubs, coffeehouses and stores close by and friendly neighbors.
The location was perfect, just a short walk to the shops and city centre. Small place but ideal for 2 people. Had everything you needed. Only negative is it is right next to a main road so unless you are an early riser expect to be woken early. We knew this when we booked so can't really complain. Parking is easy and large space.
I was originally supposed to live in this apartment for a whole month, but ended up staying for one night. The closet (which was the main reason for why I chose this apartment for my stay) was clearly not cleaned, as it had loads of spider-webs and giant spiders. In addition to this, the pots I was going to use to boil my pasta-water was rusty, and so I couldn't use them. The new pan was totally fine, and I managed to boil some water there. Check-in was supposed to be at four (16.00) but I got a message before this, where I was informed that the apartment had been looked over, and was clean an...more
This was the flat we ended up with two previous bookings were cancelled by the agency. It was too small for four people and despite the cool weather the lack of easily opening windows made it stuffy. There was only enough comfortable seating for three. There were no cleaning materials or equipment and as we were staying a week this was a problem. The consumables like dishwasher tablets and loo rolls were only sufficient for two days. The heated towel rail was broken and there was nowhere else suitable to dry them in the bedrooms. Storage was minimal. The one chest of drawers was located in the...more
The flat itself is clean, you have everything you need for short stays, for longer stays what you have there is too little and in my opinion not suitable. As I said, the flat is clean and the location is unbeatable. The only annoying thing is that the kitchen appliances are connected with on and off buttons, for example you have an on button for the fridge, extractor bonnet, cooker, etc.. The labelling on the buttons is not correct at all, you turn on the fridge and the cooker comes on, when you turn on the dishwasher the extractor bonnet goes off, this should be corrected as it can be v...more
we didn’t stay at the property - 10 minutes after our arrival, we moved to a hotel for one night, then the very next day the fantastic (really, so good) team at Stays York found us a more appropriate property - we are thrilled to bits with the efficient and caring service they provided and the quality of the new place. chestnut cottage has…potential…as a home or rental property. but as a vacation stay, we found it to be depressing, inside and out. it was surface clean, but only as far as a tired property can be cleaned. skirtings damaged, wallpaper marked and grim, window frames and room c...more
