I can highly recommend The Mornacott Farmhouse . My family which consisted of 8 adults and 8 children aged 6 months to 10 years and we recently stayed at Mornacott Farmhouse over the Early May Bank Holiday weekend to celebrate my upcoming 70th birthday and we had a wonderful time. We (a family group of 8 plus baby) had a wonderful stay at Orchard Cottage. The house is modern, light, spacious and airy, beautifully furnished and altogether perfect for 4 couples. The views from the house are stunning, and we also enjoyed the 40 minute circular walk from the house. It was approximately 3/4 hour's drive to the north coast with yet more wonderful walking (not to mention what can be found on Exmoor closer to hand.) We would all gladly return another time.
A lovely cottage in a lovely setting, just on the edge of Exmoor and with easy access to the stunning North Devon coast. The estate is large and there are loads of great walks. Being spring, the woods were alive with bird song. There are deer aplenty, and we saw stoats, red kites, and 42 bird species in total. It's a conservation-focused estate so there's a range of habitats and the farmstead has a lovely feel to it, with the sparrows chirping away and the first swallows twittering around the barns. Off the beaten track cottage. The 2 bedrooms upstairs were spacious, beautifully clean bedding, comfy mattresses & shared a large bathroom. Clean & super large fluffy towels. Lovely views from both rooms & very peaceful. The bedroom on the ground floor double/twin was very tiny & only a small drawer unit & no wardrobe! This was disappointing as we had nowhere to put our cases. The en suite shower cubicle could do with a deep clean. The kitchen was a good size with a large table, the fridge was small, there were no t-towels or oven gloves. plenty of cooking pans, utensils, only 6 cups !! The li...more
