We loved the cottage and it was even better than we thought it was going to be. It's nicely decorated and spacious inside, in great condition, very private, and has lovely views of the sea. We also found the location very convenient for exploring different parts of Skye, and Portree was only 15 minutes away.
Beautiful house, with views of the hills at the back and stone throw from the river and the sea. We really enjoy our stay.
We had a wonderful time in the Croft House, everything was perfect, thank you so much! We hope to be back!
Just completed a stay at Cedar Lodge, Portree. The lodge is of a very high standard and well equipped. It is a 15 minute walk out of town but after a meal in town this helps to walk off any over indulgence. The owners left a very welcome pack of freshly baked bread and a welcome drink along with essential items for your stay. I would recommend staying at this property.
Loved our stay and the fact that the cottage was so close to the actual Dun Hallin! Wonderful views of both sea and the Dun.
Almondbank is in a great location for visiting lots of the sights on Skye. Christina and Donald John are very welcoming and the apartment is exceptionally clean and comfortable.
The cottage is wonderful... everything you need is there and more... Standing between the "Old Inn" and the excellent "Lochbay Seafood Restaurant" owned by former chef of famous "Three Chimneys" Michael Smith doesn't hurt either ;-)
I stayed here for a week with my two brothers, fishing and hill-walking. The location is wonderful--a short stroll from the shore, where there are spectacular views of the Cuillins, and close to several beautiful walks. The house is cozy and had everything we needed, and the people in the village are interesting and welcoming.
Excellant picturesque quaint cottage full of character in a great location with super views. The owners gave a warm welcome to us and our dog (Sky the rough collie) on arrival, tea, biscuits & chocolates which was a nice touch. The owners are only 5 minutes away so if theres any problems they can sort it quickly. Fortunately we didn't have any issues with the cottage or facilities so had no need to get back in touch with them. The garden is fully fenced off which means you can relax and leave your dog in the garden. Facilities inside the cottage are good, we had no issues and used the TV/DVD ...more
We really enjoyed our stay at the Garden Cottage. The location was great; central on the isle for easy day adventuring, we were far enough out of town to have a peaceful stay but close enough to walk in and enjoy restaurants, shops, etc. We appreciated having a guaranteed parking space. Everything was spotless and the beds were comfortable. Thank you!
The cottage is tastefully decorated and furnished and is equipped with everything you would need at home. It was spotlessly clean, comfortable, spacious and warm. The Prosecco and chocolates were a very welcomed gift awaiting our arrival after a long journey! The location was excellent with walks along the coastline and the views from the cottage were lovely. Quite genuinely couldn't fault the place. Will definitely come back in the future and have already recommended it to family and friends as a place to stay when visiting Skye.
We had a wondeful week at this cottage. It is a very nice, clean, comfortable, and peaceful cottage. It is in a very good condition. We slept like logs and had invigourating showers in the morning. It has wonderful views across the loch from the seating outside. We would spend the day watching the tide coming in and out, and watching the sheep as they formed lines as they wandered around at low tide. There is plenty to explore - a ruined church and graveyard up the track a bit, further up there is a fishermans hut. I walked around Glen Brittle forest. Graham cycled round it. Eynort is close t...more
This is a fabulous cottage, the views are stunning , the cottage is lovely every home comfort, lovely and clean, comfortable beds , roomy house, car parking , there is only one negative , you have to leave when your holiday over. Thank you for a lovely holiday.
Fairy Glen Cottage is a beautiful cottage situated just 5 minutes walk from the Fairy Glen in Skye. Made in the traditional Skye style, the cottage is full of charm. It is very clean and one of the best outfitted rentals I have stayed in. The owners are very nice and were committed to making our stay great. I would definitely stay here again if I were to visit Skye in the future.
Excellent location right near town where we could walk to restaurants and the pier. This was our first visit to Skye and will need to come back. The apartment was very clean and easy to find and get access. Highly recommend and we look forward to returning.
Good place to stay as Skye headquarters. After so much quietness during the day arriving to a village is nice.
Lovely small property across from the school in Portree. It is less than a 5 minute walk to the centre of Portree where the restaurants are located. Both bedrooms are quite large with good storage and small ensuite toilets. The toilets have showers which have excellent pressure but do not heat up very well. I think it is something to do with the type of heating system install, as I was only there for a couple of days it was fine for me. The kitchen is very small so only best for small meals/breakfast. Good sized living room with a foldable dining table and chairs at the window, couch, armch...more
We went with four people to Shenavall. Very quiet and a lot of privacy. Everything was in very good condition. Very clean and very cosy and spacious. Kitchen was fully equipped with quality devices. And the house is central located for most of Skye highlights. Mobile phone did not work there, but perfect Wifi compensated that. And when there was a problem with the heating, the problem was fixed within an hour. We'd strongly recommend this house.
This place is beyond my expectation. It is fully furnished, especially the kitchen. It has all the necessary equipment to cook a meal. Linda & Mike also prepare some food for us to cook as breakfast, I especially thankful for the wine presented to us. The house is only 5 minutes walk to the Portree square so it's reachable.
It is a true home. You'd better stay here for a while to make your money worth. Cook for yourself and enjoy all the well-equipped facility.
Gezellig huisje. Vanuit de inkom heb je een mooi zicht op het water. Voorzien van alle comfort. Heel aangenaam is dat het huisje opgewarmd is op het ogenblik dat je 's avonds thuis komt.
Lovely house with superb views in a lovely location. Excellent facilities and plenty of room, clean and warm. Would have liked a couple more towels and more than one kitchen towel for a week, but otherwise everything was great.
Great cottage, immaculate condition in a great location. Really enjoyable week! I wouldn't hesitate to book again.
The house was great! Awesome location for exploring the island. We loved the sunroom especially great place in the evening to hang out. The bushes outside of the sunroom could use a trimming so we could see more of the view. Thank you for the bottle of wine - we enjoyed it in the sunroom last night. The bathtub is not draining properly. And instructions on how to lock the front door would be useful. We did buy eggs from one of the neighbors and they were lovely.
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Glen Osdale. We were very comfortable and there was lots of space for all the family to relax. The house faces southwest so there was lots of sunlight in most of the rooms. Plenty of cupboards to store clothes. (the kids enjoyed hiding in these!)So pleased to have a washing machine and dryer (so important with wee ones!) There is also a whirligig for outdoor drying. There is an outhouse at the back which was fun to explore. The house feels secluded in the hamlet of Borve. It is really close to Portree, less than 10 mins drive. Skye is quite a big I...more
We really enjoyed our stay here. House is very clean and beds are comfortable. Views are even better than in the pictures. Kitchen has the essentials and it was nice to have a tub after a long day of hiking. Would be nice to have a bin in the kitchen to put recyclables. We had to make a pile and dump on our way out, or make frequent trips down the driveway to dispose of items. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Lovingly decorated self catering accommodation in a quiet suburban street just a very short stroll to the harbour. Very well equipped kitchen made cooking easy. Bedroom was very small, but we managed by putting our suitcases in the living room. Loved the fact that there was a coffee machine!! Best coffee we have had in Scotland! Portree was a central location for exploring Skye and we would stay here again!
This was our third location in Scotland, beautiful scenery and lovely house. Perfect for the four of us. Good facilitations.
We stayed for a week at this cottage in Upper Edinbane. The cottage was comfortable and felt almost immediately as home. The views from the windows are great and the location is very good for exploring the North of Skye.
The location is great: set in a quiet position very close to the centre of Portree, it is an ideal base for a visit of the Isle of Skye. The house is vast and comfortable and has a nice garden. Some minor flaws: no hairdryer and no products to clean the kitchen and the bathroom. As for the rest, the house is equipped with heating, washing machine, dishwasher and much else. Surely recommended.
This house is great for families or for a group of adults. It is well equipped whether you find out or opt to find in , with lots of useful information provided by the hosts on the area and on the house. We used it as a base to cover all of Skye, journeying twice to Elgol area. Nice house to return too. Hotel serving delicious food within walking distance & loads of other options plus shops in Portree and also dunvegan! Loads to do on the island or just relax and enjoy the view from the windows, or outside, weather and midges permitting. Great place to stay and would recommend/stay again.
The cottage is in a wonderful location, ideal for anyone looking for peace and quiet, just a few minutes from the sea and a great circular walk. The property is like a "tardis", much bigger inside than it looks from the outside, with spacious rooms and comfortable furniture. It is rather old fashioned and could do with some updating, but is very clean and comfortable. It did seem rather expensive for just two of us, but if all the bedrooms were occupied then it would be good value for money.
We had something of an issue with our visit, The fast response from housekeeping / customer service was really appreciated. When they discovered we had an issue towards the end of our visit, they switched the people following us into a different house. Island and Highlands cottages are clearly interested if you have an issue. They get a survey from all the people that visit them. The cottage in Staffin is great for walking and has everything you could possibly need. Its a lovely location. If my review is less than perfect don't let this put you off. Stuff happens and we were a li...more
Wow what an amazing place ! The owners have literally thought of everything it's the best equipped self catering cottage we've ever stayed at . Great location on the not so busy side of Skye and close to fairy pools , coral beach and portree . Lovely views , very peaceful , quiet location . Owners were very friendly and provided an un expected welcome pack of yummy things including home baked bread and shortbread . WiFi was included which was great as phone signal is not great in Skye ! Can't fault anything there was a washer drier very handy for wet weather and heaters for if it got chilly ...more
We spent a nice week in Old School House, situated directly on the sea. a very calm and comfy place. Inside and outside you find erverything you need. Beautifully furnished. From each room (beside the kitchen) you can see the sea.
We chose this house because of its situation - not too far to get to the amenities of either Broadford or Portree - and for the views, which certainly didn't disappoint. Early morning light on the Cuillin - late evening light on the Cuiilin - always dramatic. We also hoped to spot wildlife, and while there were no eagles (viewed elsewhere on the island!) or whales, we did see seals and otters and a whole range of wild fowl on the water. Perhaps the best thing was keeping the bird feeders topped up and just sitting in the sun lounge watching goldfinches and siskins and wagtails feeding their my...more
Lovely views from the cottage, light, bright and well maintained. A little more honesty about the location of the cottage would be nice. This is, to most people, a remote location and a considerable drive to find groceries and places to eat.
We've enjoyed our one-week stay in the lovely cottage very much (2 adults, 2 kids, 1 dog)! Everything we needed was available and even more. We felt like at home, could relax from the first day on and have missed it already on the day of departure. Francis and Allan have spent a lot to make this cottage as comfortable as possible for the guests including their pets. The car can park next to the rear entrance of the house. The well-tended garden is surrounded by a fence so the dog can run free. The location allows daily trips to interesting places on Isle of Skye and to the Outer Hebrides (the...more
All was on top during our stay. This is a very useful and clean cottage with à beautiful view and well situated.
It's in the middle of nowhere. It has lovely and cosy sofa's and bedrooms. The Wifi was not expected but although was it there with ups en downs. The kitchen, sanitair and floor was very clean, but the bed and the paintingframe in the bathroom were dusty. The sheep were present.
Fantastic setting - quiet and reasonably secluded, and the shining loch in the mornings was just wonderful. Beautiful view. The house has everything one needs, including an ice cream scoop! The owners have left it as a home, and so it felt. Very comfortable. We had teenagers with us and they loved it too. It's a beautiful house, inside and out. Comfy beds. The annexe is perfect for a teenager - it has no window, but that didn't matter to him. The rental company was very helpful and informative. To sum up...recommended.
My family totally enjoyed the stay. Excellent condition and beautiful view out front. I am glad I have made the right choice.
This is a very modern, clean, well equipped lodge with everything you need while on a trip to Skye. Short walking distance to centre of Portree while in a secluded spot. Welcoming and thoughtful owners. Bit expensive but Skye seems to be getting more so every year!
Very clean and comphortable .Well equippet comphortable beds. Wonderful view from all windows. A little isolated.
I will come back of I can. I was there with 4 teenagers, it was great. I miss à dryer that cas rue only one issue.
A fine house with a great view and all comfort . The chais longe is superb. No wifi, no phone range. Excellent scenery.
This property was misrepresented. The photo is unrealistic and the overall condition un comfortable. We opted out stayed only one night of three luvkly found another place.
The bedroom is tiny, with a small and uncomfortable double bed crammed up against one wall making it difficult for one person to get on and off the bed without disturbing the other. We moved the bed away from the wall but there was barely room to walk around it (the obese or those with limited mobility would not cope). The living room furniture is extremely uncomfortable. The stereo doesn't work. Crockery is chipped and mismatched. The microwave is rusty. The sharp knives were blunt. Hot water (apart from the electric shower) is controlled by the occupants of the other half of the cottage, who...more
Beautiful located cottage. Views on the red cuillin hills. Unfortunately the cottage needs some improvement. There wasn't enough cutlery (forks) for 6 persons. Vacuum cleaner didn't work. The sofa's were old (passed through) Cleaning could be better (a lot of dust under the sofas) Although the restrictions of the cottage, we had a great week on Skye. We enjoy the island very much.
The location is great for exploring Skye, and the house looks very cute. The interior is in a bad state though and what's even worse; it was not clean at all down stairs. The bedrooms and bathrooms thankfully were fine. From the inside of the kitchen drawers to the outside of the kabinets and the chairs, everything is quite dirty. Also on arrival there was a big blue container on the driveway that was stuffed. It had clearly not been empteed the thursday before. We struggled with our waist during our stay. We even left one day early. So, it's ashame, but at this moment we would not recomm...more
