Accomadation was very good.
We had one person who was wheelchair bound eith very limited walking ability and he managed the access with our assistance.
Location was great and wonderful views of the valley.

The pictures dont do it justice, open the front door and enter the lounge to a wow moment. What a beautiful cottage throughout. The facilities in the cottage were great too. It was expensive but you get what you pay for , and worth every penny too. Molly was brilliant too.. just an all round high end great set up. Would easily return

Stunning accommodation with amazing views. We have been many times to The Piggery and it is always beautifully presented with a welcome hamper an additional bonus. Very close to Whitby and other lovely places are within easy reach or enjoy the peaceful location relaxing on the balcony.

We have just returned from a 2 week stay in the Piggery with family and friends. What a gem of a place the Piggery is..... . Firstly, the location and the views are nothing but spectacular no matter what the weather. Secondly, the property itself is beautifully furnished and decorated. It is very well equipped and the welcome hamper is the best we have every had........thank you. The doggy hamper was very well thought out and a lovely touch.

You want for nothing at Piggery..........
The owners are very friendly ,helpful , accommodating and take great pride in their properties.
The only comment we would make is the upstairs bedrooms and shower rooms are very tight for space. The downstairs facilities are excellent.
We would highly recommend the Piggery for a most relaxing comfortable home from home holiday.

Lovely house,views from the balcony amazing.Saw a deer and a barn owl as well as lots of other birds and nature.
House very comfortable and well equipped.spotlessly clean .
Good location for visiting north Yorkshire .we went to the sea life centre Scarborough,go ape at dalby forest,had gluten free fish and chips at quayside in whitby and enjoyed coffee at the falling foss waterfall .
We have an old dog and he did struggle with the sloping garden and steps but I didn't realise this before we came and it would not bother most .

We had a wonderful time in the Piggery despite the poor weather the cottage provided everything we could want and everything worked. we especially liked the good lighting and comfortable beds.
The only slight criticism we had was the very tight parking space but since parking was possible on the road we managed.
The patio outside the lounge was absolutely brilliant such a show stopper of a view.

As soon as I spotted The Piggery online I knew it would be perfect for a short stay in Nth Yorkshire, and I was not wrong. The cottage is beautifully furnished, the view from the terrace magnificent and the welcome (including warm fresh bread) from Molly enabled our party of four adults and two dogs to settle in immediately. A lot of thought has gone into creating this cottage. I loved the welcome hamper for us and the dogs. The kitchen is really well stocked with equipment and the large fridge freezer gave us plenty of room for the wine! The beds are extremely comfortable and one bedroom has wonderful views across the valley. It was lovely to watch the spring lambs in the field and observe the occasional steam train in the distance. We were grateful not to have to look for a space on the road at the end of a day walking on Runswick Bay beech, or exploring Robins Hood Bay, as the cottage has parking for two cars. We would definitely recommend this cottage and will certainly return here in the future.

Yet another lovely stay at this fantastic cottage. Molly and Lewis are very attentive hosts who kept in regular contact throughout our stay without being intrusive. The cottage is well presented and appointed with an extremely well equipped kitchen. One small point (not really a criticism) but as we age we are now finding the sofas in the sitting room are a little low. If there’s a holiday cottage in a nicer location with better views I’d be extremely surprised.

We have stayed in the Unique Retreat Cottages many times in Sleights. This was the first time we have used the piggery. The downstairs space is bigger for 6 of us.
The only problem we always found in the cottages is the TV internet reception drops out often so unable to connect several times to Netflix etc. However they do provide a selection of books and DVDs.
Beautiful views and all the mod cons and wonderful hamper and baked bread when you arrive. Hopefully the village pub will reopen soon as that used to be a 8 minute walk away which was useful.

This has been our third holiday at the Piggery and it has never disappointed us.The rooms are beautifully decorated and furniture very comfortable. We have stayed at the Piggery on a number of occasions and every time is as good as the last. We love Whitby and when you can stay in accommodation as good as this it’s makes it even more enjoyable. The Piggery is situated far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Whitby this time of year, but close enough to back in amongst it when required. The cottage want for nothing and the quality of fixtures and fittings in first class. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending any of the Unique Retreat properties.

We love the Piggery,I’m not sure how many times we have stayed at the Piggery now, we just love the location of it & the views from the cottage. You have lots of walks in the area for the dogs & local Bakers & shops 5 minutes away. For us it can’t be beaten. This was our second visit having previously stayed in the cowshed. The cottage is located in the most idyllic setting with spectacular views over the surrounding countryside. What a wonderful, homely cottage for a family break. The ground floor surpassed itself with facilities, comfort and views. We were so fortunate as to have amazing weather throughout our week and this made eating outside on the balcony a pleasure each evening.

The upstairs bedrooms were very comfortable if somewhat squidgy in the mattress department, but that is of course down to personal preference. Unfortunately the en-suites were a challenge for older and fuller figured persons! Thank goodness for the downstairs cloakroom, allowing my husband to get a wet shave.

However, the downstairs bedroom and en-suite were more than suitable for my disabled brother and his wife, and I know that they appreciated that fact.

Overall an exceptionally good holiday let which we would have at the forefront of our list if we were returning to the area.

The location is lovely, with stunning views.

However, we did encounter quite a few issues:-

1. Central heating - the temperature was set so low as to be non existent, as per the guide we used the thermostat on the stairs, this didn’t make a difference, this was in respect of the main rooms. The bedrooms had their own thermostats.
2. Dishwasher - was very erratic and seemed to switch itself off a few minutes after starting on many occasions. Quite a bit of time was spent trying to get it to work - again guide was checked in this respect.
3. Fire - unfortunately a great deal of kindling was needed to stoke the fire in order that it remained lit for any period of time. Due to issues with the central heating not being very warm, this rapidly ran out Even then it didn’t generate a huge amount of heat. We would have expected more to be provided due to the time of the year.
4. Slight plumbing issue in downstairs en suite bathroom. The tray over spilled and also the toilet needed unblocking due to some strange blocked drainage sounds.
5. The lights in the kitchen tripped out on Saturday night, it would have been beneficial if the guide provided the whereabouts of the fuse box.

Little niggles - paid for extra towels which were just bog standard and not fluffy as described. Broadband also very slow.

As mentioned, the cottage is in a lovely location but we felt that these issues spoilt our stay somewhat. The price paid for this short stay was not cheap and we didn’t expect to encounter so many problems. It’s definitely not five star accommodation. Indeed we have stayed in far better 3 star accommodation with no issues at all.

I’m sorry to stay we were quite disappointed overall especially as the trip was booked for a special Birthday.

Enjoyed a lovely, relaxing break in The Piggery and am pleased to highly recommend the cottage and the owners.

Molly and Lewis were really helpful before, during and after our stay. Their recommendations for places to visit, walk and eat out were ideal. The lovely personal touches and thoughtfulness were also very much appreciated and enjoyed by our group of five and our two pups!

The cottage is very well-appointed, really comfortable and full of character. It provides an excellent base for exploring Whitby, the coastline and the North Yorkshire Moors. With lots of good local information made available for our convenience, we were never short of places to visit and enjoy. The views from the cottage are lovely, and we enjoyed sitting out on the raised decking area and around the open fireplace in the evening. We look forward to the opportunity of returning!

We have stayed in all the unique retreats properties but enjoyed a stay at the Piggery this time. Home from home as usual. Lots of little changes to decor to add to the experience. Perfect base for enjoying the lovely North York moors and coast. Wished it could have been longer. The little extra touches are wonderful such as a freshly made loaf in the bread maker, a welcome hamper and even a welcome hamper for dogs should you visit with your four legged friends! We had a great Christmas at the Piggery. We were greeted by Molly which was a nice touch. The cottage is wonderful and was made even better by the Christmas tree and trimmings. What a beautifully appointed cottage, where every detail has been thought about to make this a comfortable and inviting retreat. The views are stunning from the balcony and kitchen, and nice to have a choice of where to sit to relax. Lovely touches throughout, with some tasteful bits of Halloween decor, the honesty bar and tasty goodies in the welcome hamper. The beds are really comfy, and the location is so quiet. We only had one wet day but the sloping garden was very muddy so that was the only slight negative, as it meant letting the dog out was tricky unless we wanted to risk sliding down the banking to retrieve any mess (plus the muddy paws). Great to have an enclosed space to let the dog out, and hopefully in drier months would be easier. This was one of the loveliest cottages we have stayed in, with everything you need to make it a comfortable and special stay - we have booked a return visit. Thank you.

We booked for a weeks stay at The Piggery at the end of October 2022. When we arrived and walked in through to the kitchen area with the balcony, it took our breath away. We met the owners Molly and Lewis, who were absolutely lovely and so helpful, clearly very committed to providing a top class service - even to the extent to of sending on some clothing we accidentally left behind! We couldn’t think of a single thing that was missing from this cottage and were very happy to have found it. We do know the area and the location is ideal for lots of North Yorks Moors adventuring and exploring and, a particularly thoughtful touch is the provision of parking permits for use in Whitby; little details like that put this cottage up into the high end of holiday rental. As dog owners, it’s always refreshing to find somewhere with a truly enclosed and secure garden too. Lots of choice, lots of comfort, lots of luxury touches, lots of all things good! You won’t be disappointed if you stay here.

The Piggery was the perfect property in the perfect location for my mother's 80th Birthday treat.
The cottage could not be faulted! Amazing facilities and the views from the balcony and upstairs bedroom were incredible, photos do not do them justice!
We have never stayed in Sleights before but have travelled through many times. Although a busy village on the main road, the cottage is tucked away in a incredibly peaceful location, with the convenience of the village facilities a few minutes walk away.
Barli our dog also loved his break and loved relaxing on the balcony watching all the wildlife.
We will definitely be back!

This is our 3rd stay at the Piggery & we have booked already for July 2023. The location of the cottage is perfect with the scenery & Radfords Butchers, Bothams Bakers a fifteen minute walk away. Lots of walks close by for the dog, what more could you need.

We had a 7 night holiday in the Piggery. Our party was 4 adults and 2 children. The online photos made the house look bigger than it actually is and we found space to be very tight this was especially a problem in the bedrooms. The downstairs bedroom was a reasonable size and the en-suite was fine but the there was very little space to put clothes. The upstairs bedrooms were small with just enough space to walk around the beds. Both en suites were tiny and had nowhere to put toiletries. The plug sockets were in awkward places so difficult to use hair dryers comfortably .
The deck area had an amazing view and the furniture was ok however we had some very sunny weather and there was no shade provided on the deck.
Generally the house could do with an update. The sofas were not comfortable and the downstairs mattress needs replacing. We’ve stayed in many rentals over the years and feel that the house was over priced .

Our third stay this year at a Unique Retreats property and again faultless. Molly and Lewis welcomed us and made sure we had everything we need including the bread baking in the bread maker! The views from all the properties are fantastic, and the location is brilliant, everything you need is close at hand.

We’ve stayed at The Piggery several times and will continue to return because it is a first class holiday accommodation. The owners Geoff and Joe obviously put a lot of sweat, love and toil into this place and it really shows. From the moment you enter the door you can see so much thought and effort has been put into creating a luxurious accommodation of the highest standard to call home for a week. From top to bottom it’s comfortable and relaxing with everything you could need for great week on the stunning Yorkshire coast. Sitting on the balcony after a day out exploring is a great way to relax and watch the sun go down over the beautiful view. The beds are incredibly comfortable as are the sofas, and we love the kitchen dining area where you can cook, chat and relax together. Sleights is a lovely village with friendly locals and a fantastic butchers and bakery! The Piggery is definitely on my ‘happy place’ list and I always look forward to returning time after time.

The location of the Piggery is amazing, with panoramic views that draw you out on to the veranda to enjoy the animals in the fields and the wonderful steam train passing along the valley. This was our second visit and it did not disappoint as it was every bit as warm, cosy and welcoming as the first. We will make it a hart trick and make a third visit in the future.

Lovely house, very well equipped and a great location. Lovely well maintained gardens too. Loved everything about it. Only minor point was the bathrooms, whilst generally clean they could benefit from a deeper clean, skirting, minor sealant mould etc.

We stayed for 4 nights in March in this beautiful cottage. The location was ideal for touring the area and the views from the cottage were stunning, and we were lucky enough to see a barn owl on our first night from the balcony and a roe deer on our last morning, aswell as pheasants and rabbits. The cottage itself has everything you could possibly want and it is so cosy and also quirky in a lovely way.There were only 2 of us so we only used the downstairs bedroom and bathroom. The shower was very good with lots of room in the shower and bathroom and the bedroom also had plenty of room too with a good storage area. The garden was also completely escape proof for our cocker spaniel. The local pub, a 5 min walk, was very dog friendly and the local fish and chips were excellent. It would be lovely to come back when the steam trains are running as you would get a great view of them from the cottage. Would we come back? Definately, one of the best cottages we've stayed in.

2nd visit to this fabulous cottage with our daughter and husband son and girlfriend. Homely, welcoming place, fresh bread baking on our arrival, wonderful hamper plus a hamper for the dog. The table looks great set ready for a meal. These little touches do make all the difference. Practical, functional kitchen with everything you need to do your own cooking which we love to do all together. Great places to sit and relax in the kitchen and lounge. Comfortable bedrooms with ensuite. Views amazing. The cottage is conveniently located to visit both the Yorkshire Coast (Whitby, Sandsend Scarborough) and Moors. Great walks locally. The cottage was absolutely lovely. A high standard of furnishings and decor, including all appliances, meant that it felt like we were staying in a boutique hotel - couldn't have asked for more. It felt like the house had just been decorated it was so clean and spotless. The welcome hampers for ourselves and our doggie companion were a delicious surprise, as was the freshly baked bread left in the oven for us. The view from the back of the house is breath-taking, I could have sat there all day watching the light changing over the hills.
The location was really convenient for either visiting the coast or venturing off into the moors, so just perfect really.

It felt like the owners really cared about the holiday you experienced staying in their cottage, we wouldn't hesitate to book again.

Another amazing stay at the Piggery, the week before Xmas. Of course all the trimmings and tree were up and it looked fantastic. Everything again was spotless and to your high standards.
We managed a meal in the Plough at the end of the lane and that was great. Visited both Whitby and Goathlands whilst there, which everyone enjoyed even the dog !
Can not recommend this cottage enough, nothing is too much trouble. From the welcome hamper for us and the dog, to the smell of fresh bread as you walk in.

We were a group of 3 couples and the Piggery worked perfectly for our stay. The accommodation is beautiful whilst maintaining a warm and homely feel. The lounge/kitchen area is perfect for relaxing in the evening, and the cottage is exceptionally well equipped with everything you could possibly need for an enjoyable holiday. The bedrooms are comfortable, and whilst the two upstairs rooms are a little tight for space, we did not find this a problem.
There were so many thoughtful extras, a lovely welcome pack and a fresh loaf baking in the breadmaker, fantastic Elemis toiletries (the girls loved these!!) and lots of useful cleaning products. There was even an ipad provided for guests use.
The cottage is located in an ideal spot for visiting Whitby and the surrounding area, we got the local bus in which is easy and a bit of godsend given parking in Whitby. Of course you may not want to leave the cottage when you see the views from the decked area, just stunning. All in all a wonderful stay and we would most definitely return.

We have stayed in two of the Unique Retreats properties over the last 4 years and have just booked again for next year.
The properties are stunning and every effort is always made to provide Covid safe and supremely comfortable accommodation for guests. So many extras provided which far exceed any other cottages we have stayed in.
It is a lovely area but if simply relaxing is what you want to do, the views from the balcony are beautiful. You will not be disappointed. Highly recommended.

We booked The Piggery as we wanted a cottage for 5 adults for a weekend away. We wanted to stay in Whitby and found this place in Sleights, which proved to be an ideal base to explore. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and all the comfort of a home from home. The outside seating area was lovely and very pleasant to sit there and admire the view. The directions meant we found the cottage first time - thank you. That doesn't happen often! The downstairs of the cottage is simply amazing, we loved the spaciousness, lightness and airiness of it. Being able to combine the old parts with a modern kitchen diner has worked so well. The kitchen is well stocked, with space for our own stuff and the table is a good size for the cottage. So much better than ones where the table is scrunched into a corner and you can't sit round it. We enjoyed sitting on the settee looking out onto the decking (well it did rain quite a lot) and the table on the decking is great as it catches the morning and evening sun. We became avid followers of the train going through in the valley!!! We enjoyed netflix in the evening sitting in the comfy lounge (we loved the decor and bought our own Tiffany light to come home with) This is simply one of the best cottages we have stayed in. A couple of downsides - I personally found the bed a little uncomfortable and the upstairs bed was more comfortable. Although the bedrooms upstairs are compact they have all you need - especially if you spend all your time out or downstairs. It is a fantastic location to see so many villages and seaside places, we went somewhere different every day. The dog hamper was a really thoughtful touch. If you want to visit this part of Yorkshire, stay here!

We had a fantastic stay in the piggery. The attention to detail was out of this world and the view was breathtaking.
The whole property was spotless and with every creature comfort you could imagine.
Joe and Geoff have been a pleasure to deal with and the welcoming touches they provided (warm bread, wine and more!) were heart warming.
We will definitely be returning.

We had a wonderful time in this lovely cottage. Every detail was perfect - from the welcome by Geoff, the homemade bread, goodies in the hamper to the ease of leaving and saying goodbye to the view! It's a beautiful cottage with so many thoughtful and imaginative touches - the children loved all the "pig" ornaments - and the tvs in the bedrooms! We enjoyed the stunning view and a glass of fizz on the amazing balcony. Plenty to do locally and the beaches are amazing. We ate out at the fish and chip restaurant and at The Plough pub - both are highly recommended. We can't wait to come back to this lovely cottage!

We were provided car parking at the property and nicely met on arrival and introduced to the facilities within the cottage. The location of 'The Piggery' is in a very quiet area of Sleights and has views of the countryside at its rear, which included the steam train operating in the valley. These views were absolutely wonderful and it only needed good weather to enable us to fully enjoy the use of the balcony. The area provides numerous locations to both visit and enjoy, and the only disappointment that we experienced was the restaurants, etc being closed due to the Covid19 restrictions.

An absolutely wonderful cottage with stunning views over the Esk Valley. The cottage had everything and was fully equipped to cater for all aspects of living, totally home from home. The quality of the decor was excellent and the lighting and furniture gave it a really cosy feel. It’s ideally placed to get to both the coast line or for visits to the North Yorkshire Moors. I would thoroughly recommend the Piggery.

Due to the situation had to cancel our original date in June and finally got to celebrate Andrews 60th Birthday in October. What a welcome with the fresh bread and treats not to mention the doggie treats for Missey. The cottage was amazing stay with fabulous views, we loved watching the steam train go by. Just had a fantastic week at The Piggery. We have been twice before but not since the owners carried out their refurbishment a couple of years ago. We enjoyed staying there in the past but the cottage is now even better. Add to this the location in Sleights - no more than a short drive to Whitby, together with those fantastic views from the balcony over the Esk Valley and it takes some beating. The freshly baked loaf waiting for us in the bread maker was a nice touch.
We have been to a good few holiday cottages throughout the UK over the years but this is easily our favourite and even though we only live about 70 miles away it's like being in another world.
Can't really think of a single minus point. I suppose you could argue it's not cheap by Whitby standards but we think it's worth every penny. Definitely be going again.
Certainly beats driving all the way to Cornwall, paying even more, and getting something half as good.

This was our second visit to The Piggery and l’ve already booked for next year. It is beautiful accommodation in a stunning location with every home comfort you could wish for. The owners ensure that the cottage is immaculate and take every measure possible to protect visitors at these times.

Even in these weird times, it was good to know that Joe and Geoff had gone the extra mile to make everyone safe. The reduced amount of ornaments in the house worked in our favour with a one year old!!

Absolutely love the new balcony - just a shame the weather didn’t allow us to use it as much as we would have liked.

Excellent property - great location - super views!
The cottage has everything you could wish for.
Admittedly the bedrooms upstairs are on the small side but the quality of the home is so worth it.
We have visited during the winter both times and couldn't wish for somewhere more comfortable and cosy.
We would definitely return and cannot recommend highly enough.

We had a another New Year stay in this very well appointed and welcoming property. The attention to detail with the furnishings makes The Piggery very comfortable. The kitchen has all the utensils you might ever need, and the freshly baked loaf of bread waiting on arrival is a lovely touch. The Piggery has a fantastic balcony and the view from the cottage is to die for. The location is brilliant with it only being a short walk to the village shops and the pub. The car parking is a little tight depending on your vehicle(s) and the waste bins can get a little over-full as they are shared with at least two other rental properties. However that said, you’d go along way to beat The Piggery, and the owners are very approachable and friendly. We love The Piggery!

We have widened the drive and put on new wider gates so parking should be much better for all our guests no matter how big their cars are. The commercial waste bins weren't emptied by the waste management company over our busy period of Christmas and New Year, which was an error on their part, but Geoff did go to the tip on several occasions over Christmas and New Year to try to alleviate this. Wow! One of the best cottages we have ever stayed in, attention to detail is superb and the cottage is beautiful with everything you need and views that are just magic. Great location near lovely beaches, dog friendly and lovely little touches like fresh bread, welcome hampers and even a lovely Xmas tree and decorations. This is how we would sort a cottage out to let, home from home and we will return, not the cheapest but worth it for the luxurious feel and quality! Thank you.

Four of us stayed with 2 dogs at the beginning of October, the house is absolutely beautiful a real home from home with everything you need and more!! Ideal location for exploring North Yorks, beautiful beaches, Moors and cliff walks. Great places to eat all over the area we particularly liked The Fishermans Wife, the local pub the Plough is also lovely and has just been renovated and under new management who are very friendly and welcoming and only a few minutes walk from the house.

The Stables is also very good, clean and friendly with lovely food, we bought our eggs and potatoes from them and brought some home along with some meat from the local butchers in Sleights.

All in all a lovely week away made extra special by Joe and Geoff, thank you!!

Our second stay in Sleights but our first stay at The Piggery. The cottage is beautifully appointed and the downstairs is spacious and extremely well equipped. The upstairs accommodation is luxurious and comfortable but not so spacious.
The views from the balcony are stunning and every level of comfort has been provided there too along with goodie welcome baskets for both visitors and their dogs.
Just booked again for next year and would thoroughly recommend The Piggery.

What an excellent week we had at the Piggery, a luxury cottage owned by Joe & Geoff. We were greeted by Geoff who gave us a quick handover and left us to settle it, while the smell of freshly baking bread filled the cottage, what more could you ask for.

The views and facilities are second to none, a hamper was provided for our everyday needs, even the dogs had their own little goody box.

We cannot recommend this property highly enough a perfect location to explore the surrounding coast and countryside and a perfect place to have a family holiday

We have had several holidays at The Piggery and keep returning for the home from home level of comfort and amenities plus the fabulous location between the Yorkshire Moors and the sea. The addition of a large and private sunny balcony at the rear of the cottage has been an added bonus this year. The view of the Eskdale valley with the steam train running by is stunning.

This is an excellent cottage with both humans and dogs being made very welcome - nowhere else we have stayed, and that is quite a few cottages now, have given your dog their own hamper. The quality of furnishings and decor is very high and the whole place has a feeling of being very well looked after- not always so in a holiday let and the views are outstanding.

The only slight issue is the size of the two upstairs bedrooms and particularly the en-suites, very small for adults. That said it would definitely not stop us going back.

What a delight to meet Joe and Geoff on arrival for a warm welcome and their help in getting our bearings in the Piggery. We were soon enjoying the marvellous view and the warm, just baked bread which with superb timing was just ready for our arrival. Sammy and Molly our 4 legged friends were quickly sniffing out the goodies in their doggy hamper - the human hamper was equally thoughtful and generous.
The attention to detail was brilliant from the well equipped kitchen, fabulous entertainment system, picnic equipment to the books, DVDs and spare wellies! The Piggery is gorgeous - very comfortable, beautifully stylish and spotlessly clean.
The view from the balcony is outstanding - the best view we have seen.
The location is convenient for the coast - especially Whitby and Sandsend - and the North Yorkshire Moors with the nostalgia of the steam railway.
We loved every minute of our stay - huge thanks to Joe and a Geoff for making it so special.

A beautiful property with a picturesque view. Loved my early morning cuppa on the balcony overlooking the fields watching the lambs. Also booked Cowslip Cottage and Ewelands House at the same time for family who are already saying lts the best properties we have stayed in and would love to stay there again. A lovely welcoming hamper and a doggie hamper. All were well equipped, even with the little things that you always forget and spotlessly clean. Would definitely recommend and already have to friends.

First holiday for me after my husband passed away so it was important to me to stay somewhere that was close to us both and I had spent lots of time at our family home in Goathland many years ago. We visited lots of places each day even Flambough Head which was rather nice.
The cottage was lovely as we did not want to eat out as we normally do just drinks on the patio lovey only missed one evening the downstairs sells the property the upstairs is a little small but we did know that on booking beds too big for the rooms as a piece has been taken for shower rooms. The upstairs would be better as one large bedroom and bathroom.

My husband, our dog and I so enjoyed our stay at The Piggery. It is a wonderful cottage with very much thought put into it and just a lovely place to be. The views are stunning and especially from the incredible balcony - magnificent! The owners are helpful and clearly work hard to make The Piggery very special. The welcome hamper, freshly baked bread and Elemis toiletries are all a lovely extra touch. Even a delightful dog ‘hamper’ was provided for our Alfie with essentials, treats and a great rope ball toy which he enjoyed very much. The cottage has wonderful walks from the door and the North Yorkshire beaches and coast paths are just a short drive away. There are many varied and great places to eat nearby. Thank you to Joe and Geoff for making our stay so special. This is a cottage one would want to return to year after year and we have already booked again. We had a wonderful week staying at the piggery. A truly beautiful property with the most stunning views from the lovely balcony. Great kitchen/diner with everything you could possibly need. Very comfortable lounge with beautiful decor and lighting, great for relaxing after a day out. Yes the upstairs bedrooms are on the small side but again furnished to a very high standard and the downstairs bedroom and ensuite are a great size. Location is fantastic, great chip shop, deli, butchers and bakery a stones throw. Highly recommend this beautiful cottage, we didn't want to leave!.

What can I say that probably already hasn’t been said? The Piggery is top notch and a real home from home. Nothing is overlooked by the owners with a welcome hamper, the fire lit and a fresh, warm loaf in the bread maker. What a glorious smell to walk into. A new balcony has been added this year which is a real enhancement and certainly has the wow factor. The cottage is well appointed, warm and cosy, clean, well equipped with views to die for! The Elemis toiletries are a really lovely touch. We’ve been visiting The Piggery for about 15 years and why would we if it wasn’t just a little piece of heaven on earth?

As travellers we are very difficult to please and seldom go back to an area once visited .... but we have just booked the Piggery for what will be our 4th visit and the fact we return is testament to Joe and Geoff's continued efforts at making this accommodation superb. From the warm loaf of bread that awaits your arrival, the hamper of local produce, the quality of the fixtures and fittings, the fabulous new balcony from which to enjoy the stunning views, the wonderful walks/coastline .... what is there not to like. I really cannot praise The Piggery enough, it is fabulous.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The weather was exceptional, the cottage of a very high standard and the village was so nice. The butchers/deli and fish and chip shop were both high quality (I wish we had shops of this quality at home). During our stay we had the World Cup and Wimbledon constantly on tv so having smart TVs came in very useful as well as a choice of movies on Amazon Prime and Netflix. The views were spectacular and we enjoyed seeing the steam train pass by. We took our own binoculars and on cloudless days we had a good view of Whitby Abbey and the sea. There are a couple of downsides - the small step down to the ground floor ensuite which my elderly mother tripped on and the small cloakroom sized wash hand basins in the first floor ensuites which my husband tells me made wet shaving very awkward. I would certainly return.

The Piggery is a truly beautiful cottage. Everything about it is stunning; it is so well-equipped and comfortable, and the ground floor bedroom was perfect for my mother. The views are amazing, overlooking open fields and the passing steam trains from the North York Moors Railway.The location is fabulous, nestled between the North Yorkshire coast and Moors - the best of both worlds. Sleights is a lovely village, and has everything we needed - including the brilliant bakery, the well-stocked shop, and the friendly, welcoming local pub where we enjoyed a lovely meal on the last night of our holiday. The locals we met were a friendly, making us feel very welcome. Joe and Geoff certainly go the extra mile too, leaving a hamper full of local goodies for us - this, and the warm, freshly baked bread, provided a warm welcome to the cottage. We have no hesitation in recommending The Piggery as a great place to spend a relaxing week or two. In short:- Perfect cottage - Perfect views - Perfect village location.

The piggery provides a very comfortable saty, very clean and with quality furnishings. Geoff is very attentive and available if required. The views from the balcony are great especially if you are looking for peace and quiet. The only little thing that was not perfect is the upper two bedrooms are very tight for space with each having a very small functions bathroom. Other than that great base to stay to visit the east coast close to Whitby.

We stayed at The Piggery for 4 nights at the end of January. The house is beautifully furnished and impeccably clean. Joe and Geoff were very responsive and accommodating. The welcome basket was very generous and after a long drive, very welcome. The view down to the valley is spectacular - even in January - and there were lambs in the field by the house. With so much to do in the area (we were both tourists and visiting family) and a wonderful “home from home” to return to, I am sure we’ll be back soon!

We had yet another lovely stay in this stunning property. The Piggery is so welcoming and cosy. There is a roaring fire in the grate, homemade bread and fresh coffee waiting and lovely squidgy sofas to sink into to drink in both the coffee and the view! The cottage is sympathetically and tastefully decorated and furnished with many fantastic touches such as picnic-ware, wellies and even a drinks cabinet with an honesty box. We have been going to The Piggery for many years (probably about 15 years) and it really is like going home. Thank you Joe and Geoff!

Enjoyed a lovely short break at The Piggery with my mum Judith & my two Schnoodles (Willow & Woody) The cottage is beautiful - decorated & furnished immaculately. It was fascinating just to take in all the detail that’s gone into this gorgeous cottage. Everything is provided for from an extensive welcome hamper which included basics like milk, tea bags, butter to biscuits, chutney, wine, crisps etc, a dog goody basket with basic essentials plus treats & toys for the dogs to little extras such as cotton wool balls & buds in the en suites - very useful. The information provided is also amazing & with 2 dogs to entertain the list of dog-friendly pubs, cafes & suggestions for local walks was great. Upstairs, the beds are beyond comfy, they are delightfully soft & luxurious & despite the small amount of room upstairs, everything has been fitted in neatly & compactly with everything you could want to hand. Really I could just go on & on about how much I love the cottage - and I’d especially like to mention the owners Joe & Geoff who have obviously put so much hard work, time & love into renovating this cottage. We felt welcomed & reassured that if we had any problems they would be on hand to help. Many thanks to them both for letting us stay in their fabulous cottage. Oh & by the way, the position & views from the cottage are just amazing - Sleights is a lovely little place with a yummy bakery, a great butchers & tasty fish & chip shop (Eskdale Fisheries). We definitely hope to return soon.

Wonderful cottage everything you could possibly need, the smell of fresh bread on our arrival was divine. The hamper with lots of goodies was also a nice thought as was the personal letter in the guide book. We met Geoff on arrival and he showed us around the property and how to use T.V. etc. The outside was very clean and tidy and the Grandchildren had fun rolling down the grass which had a lovely slope. The weather was OK with rain on the Wednesday so we spent a day playing board games with the Grandchildren nice and cosy. We did manage to use the veranda when the weather allowed it, the views are wonderful. We would definitely recommend this cottage and it certainly deserves its 5 stars.

The Piggery is luxurious but homely. The owners have carefully thought about and provided everything you might need for a comfortable stay. The cottage has stunning views of the Eskdale valley, which you can enjoy from the rear balcony which has ample seating for a table and six chairs. It is ideally situated for the Moors and the Coast. We have Coco, our beloved chocolate labrador, and there are many many walks direct from the doorstep of the Piggery. A detailed guide of walks are given in the cottage and well as detailed on the iPad for your enjoyment. A 5 minute walk away and you can you can be on the North Yorkshire Moors and walk as far as Grosmont, Goathland, or just amble on the Moors for 1/2 hour and walk back to the cottage. From Sleights you can walk through the Esk Valley following the pathways to Grosmont station and then if you wish come back on the train into Sleights itself. There are lovely walks by the River and the local Becks and you can walk to Falling Foss, the waterfall and enjoy a coffee and cake in their hidden cafe at the top of the falls. You can also follow paths into Whitby itself and along the cinder track down as far as Scarborough if you wish walking or cycling. All these are detailed in our guides, and so I have to say we are very sorry and indeed surprised if you thought there was a lack of dog walking !!

Just spent a fabulous week in this stunning property. Joe and Geoff really have thought of every possible little thing to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. Loved the decor and furnishings, very smart and elegant. Had the best, most comfortable sleep ever on the bed in downstairs bedroom. Felt like we were being cradled on a cloud (so much so that we made a note of the bed topper make and have today ordered two for our own bedroom and guest room!). Gill also said her bed upstairs was so comfortable that she too was going to order a topper for herself at home. The views from the balcony are gorgeous, a real bonus to have if the weather's kind to you whilst at The Piggery. Can't recommend this holiday house highly enough. I loved this place it was beautiful , extremely well equipped and the views were stunning - particularly the sunsets . My dad also loved watching the steam train going through on a regular basis . We do not have dogs and I can say it was cleaned so well you would have no idea that the previous holiday makers had dogs . We loved having the three bedrooms ensuite but they were very small in the upstairs rooms , this is my only very minor negative ( if you could call it that ) . The owners have thought of everything you could possibly want . The village is great with a great butchers and a good local pub . Yet Whitby is really on your door step .

Wonderful house in an excellent setting overlooking the beautiful fields of the Esk valley, at the edge of the village with good shops and pub. Excellent for the dog, too. Super holiday had by all.

We all really enjoyed our stay last week - the house was perfect, the view spectacular, location was amazing. And so many thoughtful touches for when we arrived - from the bread baking in the bread maker - to the hamper for us and a hamper specially for Archie the dog. Every need was catered for and all was fantastically and conveniently set up for us. Without exception we all said we slept brilliantly - I had the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in (I made a note of the mattress, mattress topper and bedlinen!). The only minor negative (and I hate to even use that word here!) observation we could make was that the bedrooms were a little small for the size of the beds - but thats the compromise you have to make for dining comfort - theres no way to make the rooms any bigger! I hope to be back nd am recommending the Piggery (and any of the other cottages) to friends and family. Thank you to Geoff and Joe for your attention to detail and perfection and sharing your beautiful house with us!

Excellent week relaxing in the Piggery, there were only 2 adults and 2 dogs and it was fantastic when it rained because we all wanted to stay in and relax in the wonderfully thought out home from home. Excellent butchers / deli / bakery with a very welcoming Pub all near to hand. We ate in every evening after shopping for our provisions and then all relaxed in front of the open fire. Try it ... you know you want to ...

We stayed in Cowslip 2 years ago and have been looking forward to our next visit. We loved The Piggery! It was very comfortable and the added touches really made it a home from home. The living space was spacious, light and airy, with plenty of room to socialise as a group either in the lounge or kitchen. I would definitely rate the accommodation as 5* and impeccably clean. The views are amazing and our woofer (Cocker Spaniel) will miss looking out of the doors! Thank you and we will see you again for our next visit to Whitby.

We have stay at a lot of cottages in North Yorkshire and this was by far the best. The place is gorgeous, the owners have thought of everything and the quality is fantastic. The view is amazing and the location is very convenient. We went to Grosmonth and Egton by taxi for nights out and used the bus service to travel into Whitby.
We would definitely recommend this place and we have already booked to stay at one of their other properties we were so impressed.

What a wonderful cottage this is.!!! Set in beautiful countryside we had the most amazing weekend. Lots to see and do in the surrounding areas, you can have a busy time or relaxing time. We loved it!!

This was fabulous accommodation with every attention to detail and thoughtful extra touches. The location was delightful and we could ha v happily spent all day,admiring the stunning view from the view from the cottage stunning. We would have been happy to spend all day admiring the stunning view from the the balcony or the cosy living room. Excellent in every way!
