We're just back from another fabulous stay at Barnacre Cottages. We stay in a Mole End Cottage. It's a great spacious cottage and perfectly equipped for someone with accessibility needs. Ground floor bedrooms, wet room and lots of well placed rails and bars to support mobility.
The cottage are very well equipped with lots of kitchen utensils, crockery etc, no need to bring anything.
The family team at the cottage are always available to address your needs and resolve any issues, although we didn't have any at all.
I must also recommend the view. You can see all the way to Blackpool on a clear day and the tower looks fabulous at night.
We'll be back again and is highly recommend to anyone, especially if you have accessibility needs.

We have just returned from our third stay at Barnacre cottages, and always love staying here. The accommodation is excellent and always very clean, and there’s plenty of green space for the kids to play. We always enjoy relaxing by the fire pit area in the evenings, and the location in the Lancashire countryside is perfect.

This was our family’s 5th time of staying at Barnacre Cottages - our first time of staying in Mole End Cottage. We experienced the same standard of excellence in this property as all of the others.

The reason we keep returning? The properties are pristinely clean, the devices, furniture, bedding, mattresses, kitchen appliances etc are all high spec, providing a luxurious stay. The cottages we have stayed in so far (including Mole End) have catered well for my disabled Father’s needs, including disabled access, wet rooms, low sink (at wheelchair level) in the bathroom, ground floor bedrooms etc.

In addition to the above each of the properties that we have stayed in have had a lovely, enclosed, garden to sit in, along with an open field/tennis court/ play area for children (on site).

The properties are also competitively priced and fantastic value for money.

This family owned business is run by the hardest working, kindest, family that you could ever wish to meet. They are not intrusive and will allow you to enjoy your stay without their involvement unless it is required - but they are on hand all of the time and respond to any queries very quickly. It is also obvious from the excellent condition of the properties and the well maintained gardens/grounds that they must work very hard behind the scenes.

We love the location of the properties - lots of things to do and see nearby without having to travel for miles.

I had no hesitation in recommending Barnacre Cottages to a friend earlier in the year and was pleased to learn that she had exactly the same experience as me (and my family) during her stay in April. We are grateful to have found this little jewel!

From start to finish our stay at Mole End, Barnacre Cottages was simply wonderful. With an 18 month old and 4 month old it was our first holiday away as a family and to begin with I was apprehensive. But our every need was met and more, the cottage was a perfect fit for our family with lots of space for playing and easy cleaning, children beds and plates/cutlery provided. It was like home from home. I could not recommend them highly enough and will definitely be making a return visit.

I booked 4 of the 5 cottages at Barnacre for my family. Mole End was perfect for a member of our family with a disability. Comfortable, beautiful views in a quiet location. It has a really special feel to it, everything from the fitted kitchen, the beautiful warm Aga, to the comfortable sofas was absolutely perfect. Cleanliness and decor of the highest quality.
I have stayed in many places and very few match the quality of Mole End. Host Beth couldn’t be more helpful or quick to respond to my questions.

What an amazing place, it came highly recommended and certainly didn't disappoint. Plenty of places for the children to run around - the tennis court even got a look in. So many books - bedtime stories were easy and the war books kept the fellahs entertained!
Never cooked on an Aga before but it was easy enough and would imagine in winter it will keep the lounge cosy and warm too!
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend-thank you!

We booked for a couple of nights and it was brilliant. Advice and flexibility on arrival and departure was great given there had been a change in my family situation ahead of the trip. The disability friendly facilitie were great and the views of the coastline were very soothing from the front of the cottage. Kids loved it and fire pits were throughly enjoyed. It’s probably the best domestic short cottage break we have been on in the last 10 years. We “warmed” to the amazing AGA oven too once we knew how to work it! It really did feel like a home from home. Would recommend as location allowed us to trek into Lancaster and enjoy this lively city and it’s history. Very convenient located to travel to different parts of the county within 30/45 mins drive. If there is a next time - would probably want to stay a week

Mole End is spacious, comfortable and clean. It has everything you need for a relaxing break and is very well resourced with kitchen essentials. The layout was perfect for my elderly parents as they did not have to climb any stairs and the wet room shower was very welcomed too. An added bonus was a visit from the owner on our second evening- armed with a delicious home baked cake!
The cottage is an excellent base for exploring the local area; we enjoyed lots of lovely walks with the dog - visits to Scorton and The Apple Store are a must for refreshments!

We have been lucky, we have stayed in Mole End twice a year, for the last few years. Nothing is too much trouble to the family that own the property. One room has a beautiful bathroom with grab bars everywhere necessary for an elderly or disabled person. The cottage sleeps 7 but the 2 of us just use the ground floor.and a wheelchair can move around very easily.We love it.

We had an amazing stay at Barnacre Cottages. We needed an accessible cottage and got just that. Mole End has been adapted downstairs with 2 wet rooms, accessible throughout and very well equipped. Terry kindly brought the tramper for us, how've we found ourselves too busy to get out on it.
The cottage was clean, well equipped, spacious with super views as far as Blackpool.
On arrival, there was a delicious, home made Victoria sponge cake which made for a welcome treat.
We would highly recommend and look forward to returning soon.

Our family were coming together after a long hard time with covid. The cottage was ideal and well situated for all to get to we were also able to take the dog. This area was great for both country walks and walks by the sea. The location was great. The cottage had everything you could wish for including an aga. I definitely would come again when meeting up with all the family

We really enjoyed staying at Barnacre Cottages - situated in beautiful countryside with views out to sea. Mole End was perfect for our stay and the hosts were friendly and welcoming. The Victoria sponge and welcome basket we were given were a real treat - fabulous sponge! We loved the open space outside the cottage, the amazing view and enjoyed sitting around the fire pit in the evening.
Definitely will consider another visit at some point.

Mole End was perfect for my dad’s mobility needs. We were looked after wonderfully; the owner noticed my dad walking with a stick and so lent us a tramper. This was a godsend as it allowed us to get out and about and explore the local area. The views from the cottage are wonderful and the children enjoyed the garden and tennis court. The cottage was beautiful and had everything we needed.

We took a last minute break looking for somewhere rural away from lots of crowds. We certainly found it at Mole End a Very clean, well turned out cottage with lovely views of the distant Fylde coast. You can hear the M6 when you are outside of the cottage but you can’t see it and the views and quality of the facilities more than compensate. We had very welcoming hosts and the Forest of Bowland and local river walks are lovely - a top trip and well worth a visit

We felt at home in Mole End as soon as we arrived, somewhat helped by the lovely freshly baked Victoria Sponge delivered to our door! The décor is modern and tasteful yet homely and included everything we needed. The kitchen was very well equipped. Our only slight stumbling block was having absolutely no idea how to use an AGA! On this occasion we did take advantage of some very good local takeaways so only needed it to keep our food warm but actual cooking may have been a challenge!

There is plenty to do in the local area and we visited the amazing sandy beach at St Anne's and did some fell walking. We also had a very wet walk to Scorton where there are several nice cafes and a useful local shop. The hum of the motorway is a shame but the lovely outdoor space and views from the cottage more than compensate.

We were greeted with a delicious home-made Victoria sponge cake. We loved the underfloor heating and Agar cooker. These gave a very cosy feel to the cottage, even though the weather was not very welcoming. The cottage was very spacious and well designed. The beds were really comfortable. The owners were very friendly and attentive to our requests and concerns. This was an ideal spot for our family reunion.

Our family spent Christmas at Mole End Cottage. This is the first time we have ever been away and choosing to stay at Mole End Cottage was definitely the right decision. The cottage was decorated beautifully both inside with Christmas tree and decorations and outside too - and as we had our granddaughter who is 9, with us, it seemed even more magical, she loved it. Terry and Sue always go out of their way to make us welcome ( we have stayed previously at Woodpecker and the Piggeries) nothing is too much trouble. The cottage was immaculate, very clean and warm and cosy, and we would not hesitate to recommend staying at Barnacre to friends. We will certainly be making more visits to Barnacre.

We had a great stay and the location met our needs. Views were fab.
Just a couple of small issues. Having a shower in the eaves stood up even for small in height people was not practicable. Toilet brushes need changing and showers would benefit from a glass panel rather than shower curtains, however a great place to stay.

We have gone to this cottage twice a year for 3 or 4 years, and hope to return next year. It is quiet and has all the necessities in the adapted bathroom . We love it. 2 bedrooms downstairs which is handy for a carer, LOVE IT.

We stayed in Mike End cottage for our break consisting of 4 adults , 2 children and 3 dogs - cottage was beautiful and spacious with plenty of room for us all. The cottage was clean and of a high standard and contained everything you would need to enjoy a relaxing break. The children loved the tennis court and the home made cake on our arrival was a bonus. Hosts were very welcoming, friendly and informative, would highly recommended.

I stayed here with family. We chose the cottage as my mum has recently suffered health problems and has mobility restrictions. Mole End is a lovely place in a quiet spot with lovely views over Lancashire right out to the coast. The layout of the property enabled the manouvering mum's chair, hoist etc to be done easily. We had a very relaxing break and we will certainly be back.

Exceeded expectations .Pre holiday arrangements good booking high chair , cot etc
Clear directions and warm welcome from Sue , Terry and all the family ( including the dog )

Accommodation lavishly equipped and delicious home made cake on arrival a lovely touch .
We enjoyed cooking with an AGA for the first time ( just remember everything takes longer but worth the wait ! ).
Outside facilities great for families . Our toddler grandson played outside so much he slept like a log .
Lovely location in unspoilt countryside seeing hedgehog , hares and deer on our doorstep .
Well placed for country walks , farm parks , Blackpool etc .

We would not go each year if it wasn't good. Disabled facilities which have had A LOT of thought behind them. If we have a query a member of the family comes and helps. It is quiet, in the hills, with a great view. Cannot fault it.

This cottage enabled a family to be housed together away from the main group in Woodoecker Cottage. They rated their facilities as excellent and particularly enjoyed their chance to be together as a family. As with the other cottages, they thought their accommodation and facilities were excellent. We have now been to Mole End on four occasion's. One of the bathrooms is perfect for any disability. It is so quiet I can sleep, something I don't do at home very often. The cottage sleeps 7, 4 downstairs, 3 upstairs, but we are only 2, so plenty of room for a wheelchair to move around . Very important to us. The owners are very attentive if there should be any problem, nothing is too much trouble. We are hoping to return again soon. Perhaps we will be able to sit outside next time!!!
