Five bedrooms all with ensuite facilties. Magnificent oak sun room with views to the coast, pizza oven, BBQ. Perfect for families and celebrations.

This house is absolutely beautiful, it’s got such a warm and cosy feel to it. We stayed in August for a week as a family of 10.

We found the attention to detail was amazing, every possible thing you could need in the kitchen. We did need a set of kitchen scales but after messaging Beth she was round straight away! Nothing was too much trouble.

We found the location really nice, it’s rural but the motor way is a 5 minute drive, and we went to some lovely little villages near by! We enjoyed the walks around the house too although very hilly. The oldies struggled a bit with the hills.

The tennis court was a great hit for us, we played every day!! Equipment is provided in a little box, which was ample for all of us, including the men who thought they were Novak Djokovic.

Bedrooms are a great size, the downstairs bedroom was perfect for my brother and his wife as they have a new born baby. All the beds are super comfy and there is ample of storage space.

Our fave room - the orangery/conservatory! Oh my god the views from this room are just gorgeous! We loved waking up in a morning and all sat round together, even the evenings were spent in there, if we wasn’t sat at the table playing games!

If you get chance, have a little walk (40mins) or drive (10 mins) to the cutest little cafe called Applestore Cafe at Wryesdale Park. What a little gem of a place. There’s also facilities for paddle boarding which looked great fun.

We loved the bbq and pizza oven, we had lovely weather for it. But I also really had a soft spot for the AGA!!! I love cooking anyway but really enjoyed making meals in this. I would recommend reading the books first and learn which oven does what, once you get the hang of it, it’s a dream! (I want one haha)

We genuinely couldn’t fault this home, or the hosts! So friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. We actually left our Alexa and my daughter left her Abbott Lyon necklace, after a couple of messages it was posted back to us within the week and they wouldn’t let me pay postage even tho I offered, I am just so grateful it was returned to us.

Thank you so much for a gorgeous week spent at the Oakhouse. We would absolutely love to return and get the family back together again!! even the pooch loved it

My friends and I had an incredible weekend at Oakhouse - the location was perfect for everyone coming from all over the country and the space was amazing. Beth and Kendall were both very helpful and on hand if we needed anything, but equally left us to our own devices. The bedrooms were comfortable, the kitchen had everything you could need and the living and outside space were perfect for us to be together. I’d 100% recommend this house and would absolutely book again!

We had a large family gathering to attend a wedding in the area. The house easily accommodates the 16 and with two very large lounges and a massive kitchen, you never feel cramped or fail to find a quite space if you need it.

Will definitely use again, seamless booking, checkin and out, great experience and highly recommend.

This was our fifth family holiday at Barnacre Cottages but our first time of staying in the Oakhouse property. We were not disappointed! As with all of our previous stays the property was meticulously clean, the bedding and towels provided were like new, all of the furniture and equipment in every room was of a very high standard, and we were treated like royalty by the business owners who could not possibly work any harder or provide a better service. The properties belonging to Barnacre Cottages are in a fantastic location for providing family days out without having to spend half the day travelling to get to them. In addition, without having to travel anywhere, there is a tennis court on site, big open fields to enjoy, a play area for children, and beautifully, well equipped gardens attached to each property (with BBQs pizza ovens etc). We love the fact that the properties cater for every generation of our family’s needs (from those in their eighties to those who have not long been here on this earth!). An incredible amount of thought, effort, and investment has gone into designing, maintaining, and equipping each property so that those who use them, no matter what age, can enjoy a really fabulous holiday and have everything to hand that they need. On this occasion there were 14 of us staying at the property (Oakhouse) and we felt like millionaires waking up every day (after the best night’s sleep we’ve ever had in the most gloriously comfy beds) and knowing that we had the day ahead of us to be together and to enjoy this massive, larger than life property. The icing on the cake is that Barnacre Cottages’ prices are highly competitive and very affordable considering the spec of the accommodation and all that is provided - fantastic value for money. We look forward to returning in the not too distant future and wish every success to the business owners. Hats off to them - they deserve to be successful!

We were 3 generations of extended family from 4 countries staying in 3 of the houses. The indoor and outdoor space, including the tennis court, is excellent, the kitchen very well equipped, the beds comfortable and the bathrooms/showers really good. A couple of points to mention, the Aga is on all the time and the kitchen was uncomfortably hot, despite it not being a very warm week. The upstairs rooms are also very warm and because of the low windows, it is difficult to open them if you have small children. Other than that we had a great week and even enjoyed a few evenings sitting round the firepit. There is a lot to do in the area, provided you have a car, and some lovely local walks.
