We had a wonderful time staying at the Old Stables. We have stayed in this property before and once again it was perfect. Alongside the lovely property are the amazing family owners whose customer service is outstanding. They really care about giving their customers the best experience. We have been very blessed to have stayed in these beautiful surroundings and relax knowing there is a dedicated team of support if needed. We are so happy that we found Barnacre Cottages!

This is the second time we visited The Old Stables and liked it even better this time round. We had a family group ranging in age from 19months to 73 years. The outside kitchen was excellent and we sat outside with the firepit. We used both the Pizza Oven and the Barbeque. There was plenty of space for the children to run around in the garden, the tennis court and the green with the added bonus of football net for the soccer mad boys. The house is very comfortable with a lovely social space so those on meal duty were still part of the group. The cupboards are well stocked. We had a problem with an electric appliance and the hosts could not have been more helpful. We definitely want to return. A BIG thank you to the hosts.

This was a family holiday with the age of people ranging from 6 months to 77. The cottage was clean when we arrived and very well equipped, especially in the kitchen. Having tea, coffee, condiments, hand soap, tin foil, cling film, towels, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets was such a great help.
The outdoor area and facilities were fantastic, the tennis court was a real hit as was the bbq and pizza oven. The garden space was brilliant for outdoor games and relaxation.
We had a slight issue with the water temperature but this was quickly sorted out by Kendall.
If we were to make a suggestion, it would be to put a handrail on the outdoor steps as my mum found it difficult getting up and down. The couches in the lounge were also a bit tired but none of this detracted from us having a wonderful time.

The Old Stables is very well equipped and perfect for our annual family gathering. With the kitchen at the heart of the ground floor, there is room for everyone to do their thing while being in one space. Our celebration for 25 people ranging from 3 to 90 worked perfectly. Beth is very prompt in handling queries and requests which makes the booking process very straightforward. Highly recommend.

I was looking for group accommodation to celebrate my ‘big’ birthday with friends. I couldn’t have chosen anywhere better than The Old Stables. From the moment we arrived it was so relaxing. The owner popped by to say hello and offer any advice we needed which was nice. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and well maintained both indoors and out in the garden. There was a great fire pit with enough seating for all guests, along with a wood fired pizza oven and barbecue. The location is peaceful without being too remote. I like to offer an honest review of any place that we have stayed and have been thinking of any negatives of our stay but honestly there were none! Thank you for a wonderful stay and we will definitely be back.

They loved it!

It was such a brilliant place to spend our family weekend with so much to occupy the children. Owners were responsive to problem with dishwasher doing everything possible to resolve the issue. Generously allowed us to leave at a later time on the Sunday.

As always the accommodation was first class and we just love the pizza oven and outside space even if on this visit the weather was not kind.
We certainly plan on returning and would also recommend a visit to the Barn at Scorton and wallimgs Ice Cream both of which are within easy reach of Barnacre

A fantastic property and wonderful location for a group gathering. Even when we were at full capacity there still felt like there was plenty of space. A smashing time was had by all particularly in the communal areas. We particularly liked there roosters!

The Old Stables is well equipped and extremely comfortable particularly for families as there is a tennis court and a big garden - the dogs loved it! Good central base for Blackpool and the Fylde coast and we also headed the other direction to Clitheroe Castle. Highly recommended for families and dogs we really enjoyed our stay.

A lovely laid out cottage with some great facilities, Easily accommodated 12 adults and a toddler both inside and out for a weekend of celebrating! The cottage is dog friendly, which was a little noticeable on arrival as we’re not dog owners and some of the beds are a tad squeaky but other than that a great time was had by all! Check out the location before embarking on your journey, as warned by the owners, Sat Nav is very hit & miss!

We had a large family party in Old Stables along with Partridge Cottage. The living space downstairs was ideal for a large group with the living area, kitchen area, dining area and conservatory. It never felt crowded. Christmas decorations and lights were up and with the log burner they made a cosy atmosphere on a damp December day. We didn't use the outside area but could imagine everyone sitting round the firepit, cooking on BBQ and pizza oven on a lovely summer's evening.The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, glasses and cutlery. 3 bathrooms to 6 bedrooms meant there was no squabbling for use of the bathroom.

The Old Stables cottage is very well set up for large numbers: space, crockery, seating. The garden is huge and would be a real asset in good weather. The outdoor kitchen space and fire pit offers a fun, informal space to combine eating and playing. The only downside could be the bathroom capacity: with only two showers, there is potential for a traffic jam at peak times. Lovely location and very helpful owners. Highly recommend.

This was our third visit to Barnacre and we had an amazing time. It's the perfect location for a family get together (or any short break!) and the improvements made over lockdown have made it even more perfect. Pizza ovens, fire pits, tennis courts, playgrounds, lots of space to runaround inside and out... the list could go on. Don't hesitate to book a break here, you won't regret it.

The old stables at Barnacre was perfect for our extended family to holiday together.
With the large garden, tennis court and open spaces the children were able to play safely and freely.
We used it as a base to explore the surrounding areas.

Had a fantastic stay, could not have chosen a better week weather wise. Viewed some great sunsets from the field next to tennis court. Unfortunately, with the high summer temperatures, we requested that the Aga be switched off as it was so hot at night, which only left us with a single microwave oven to cook with & gas. BBQ, pizza oven and fire pit area was well utilised every night, although our young children had a few scratches and nettle stings from the border areas of the garden. A few items and areas in and around the property looking tired and need refreshed or cleaned.
Hosts very accommodating and a lovely surprise of a very large, delicious Victoria sponge cake was most welcome on our arrival.
Great central location for touring the Lancashire area and lots of great eateries around.

We all really enjoyed our stay in the Old Stables, the accommodation had everything we could possibly need. As a family we particularly enjoyed playing tennis, the grounds are well set out and it’s a really lovely place to be.

We has the perfect family getaway at Barnacre Cottages (again!). The garden attached to the house is beautiful and my 5year old daughter described the firepit area (with new pizza oven and overhead lights) as a "magical surprise". We love it here and can't wait to be back!

We stayed in the summer for my daughters birthday! There was lots of space inside and out. We couldn’t have asked for more, in every regard. The place was spotless which was reassuring in the midst of Covid. We felt happy, relaxed and Covid secure. We will definitely be staying again.

We are a family of six from Argentina, we stayed at old stables and we had an amazing time. The cottage was really comfortable, and very clean. The hosts were very welcoming and ready to help or give advice. I fully recommend it and we will definitely come back.

The owners were extremely helpful and any little issue was sorted immediately.
Lovely location and grounds. Very roomy and well equipped house ...maybe need a few clothes pegs!

Our extended family of 10 ranged from 7 years old to 75 and everyone loved it. The cottage has everything you would expect and more. The Aga was a lovely new experience for us and kept the kitchen area toasty warm (it was a chilly August week). The attention to detail on all the kitchen utensils and crockery/glassware was exceptional. There was plenty of space for us all with the bedrooms and bathrooms, and we loved spending time in the conservatory when it was too rainy to be in the private garden. The children loved the freedom of the tennis court, play area and field, all safely within the huge gated grounds - we didn't see much of them as they made new friends! They fed the resident pony and sheep which caused much excitement. Nothing was too much trouble for Terry and his family, including when we had an issue with a broken key which was immediately resolved by Terry's daughter. The cake on arrival was a lovely and welcome touch. We had Tesco deliveries to make things more convenient and that was easy to arrange although the driver needed some directions! The surrounding countryside was beautiful - perfect for walks with the kids, fishing in streams and also an early morning run (keeping a lookout for tractors and horses!). We had day trips to Kendal, Lake Windermere, Lancaster, Blackpool and Lytham St Annes so plenty nearby. There is also a great independent garden centre and farm shop nearby which we liked. We will be back!

My friends and I had a fabulous time staying in The Old Stables for my 30th birthday. The owners were super helpful, thoughtful and courteous. They'd even baked a massive Victoria Sponge for our arrival! They suggested a lovely walking route for us, which led right from the front door. Highly recommended place to stay.

We had a great stay in the Old Stables mid December 2019 for a family birthday celebration. It was perfect for young and old alike. There were 12 of us in this house and we had everything we needed at hand. We would certainly consider a return visit at some stage.

I have to say the Cottage was exactly what we wanted, spacious, comfortable, clean and all the appliances you would want. There was plenty of parking and lovely garden for the children to play. Ours was a party of 12 and everyone has said they want to come back. There was nothing to find fault with definitely a 5 star place to stay

This was our second family holiday at the Old Stables at Barnacre Cottages and it was every bit as good as the first time we stayed. We received a warm welcome from Terry and a delicious home baked cake from Sue on arrival.

During our stay we had a couple of issues that we needed help with - the television wasn’t working properly which Terry and Kendall came and sorted immediately on being notified. Then the gas cylinder supply to the cooker ran out which was immediately fixed.

This is a family run business and the whole family works hard to provide a first class service to visitors, but without being intrusive. They are warm and welcoming and honest people who make you feel at home. The property and gardens are stunning and you feel like you are somewhere really special. On both occasions the property has been cleaned to a very high standard.

We would gladly return in the future.

A great place for a large family gathering. We had The Old Stables, Mole End and Partridge cottage which provided plenty of space as well as privacy. The well appointed kitchen with the aga made it feel very cosy and homely.
The children loved the outside space and freedom and the tennis court was a great bonus.
The owners went out of there way to be helpful to provide what we needed and also information and suggestions for activities in the area which was very attractive - good for walks, picnics and messing around beside rivers.

We had a lovely week at Barnacre The Old Stables with all the family 11 of us in total.
The downstairs living areas were very large and had plenty of room for us all.
The garden was large and the children particularly enjoyed playing tennis on the tennis court in front of the cottage and the swing set. I would highly recommend this cottage for any large family looking for a country get away together.

Just stayed at Old stables and The Woodpecker cottages for a fabulous family weekend! They are both beautiful cottages and we loved everything about them! It was a real treat for us cooking on the Aga too! We had everything we needed and the home made cake on arrival was a big hit too! Would definitely recommend these cottages!

The cottage was perfect for all our needs. The kitchen was simply beautiful and the layout of downstairs was fantastic for a large family especially with little children as well. There was a beautiful cake on arrival and plenty of games for adult and children to keep you entertained.

The rooms were all a great size and accommodated a large family. The setting was very pretty. We found lots of activities nearby for us all including crazy golf!

We stayed at the Old Stables for a family birthday celebration. Everything was excellent. A lovely comfortable house equipped with everything you need. Lovely garden with a fire pit and tennis court. We had a great time and the hosts were great and very quick to help out with any minor problem. Sue also made a delicious cake for the Birthday couple too!
