Owl Barn (5* Gold ) is accessed at the front garden level and has three double bedrooms, all with ensuite facilities. Upstairs is a galleried sitting room with bridge to a study area. The airy modern kitchen/dining room is on the entry level, as is the master bedroom. Built in 1822, Owl Barn retains many original features, but is fully equipped with 21st Century conveniences including wifi, Smart TV, and a fully equipped kitchen.

We had a lovely stay in Owl Barn. The accommodation was faultless and the cottage was equiped with absolutely everything you could need. The welcome hamper of food items was amazing with lots of local products including coffee, milk, sausages, bacon and bread.

The hosts were extremely welcoming and gave us plenty of information of places to visit and activities to fill our days. The membership at China Fleet was a fantastic added bonus and we spent a whole day there using the facilities including the driving range, adventure golf, squash courts, swimming pool and spa area. We also visited the Adrenalin Quarry and did Go Karting and the braver amongst us did the huge Zip Wire. We also visited the Golitha Galls waterfall for a walk followed by lunch at the amazing Inkie’s BBQ Smokehouse, the food was outstanding and it was a great place for lunch. These activities combined with visits to local villages such as Polperro and Looe kept us busy and entertained both the children and the adults!
It is a beautiful area of Cornwall to explore.

The hot tub was also fantastic for relaxing in at the end of the day with gorgeous views. Highly recommend Kernock Cottages, we wish we could have stayed longer!

We arrived early at Kernock after a hefty day of travelling from Essex down to the area for our holiday, to be warmly welcomed by the owners of the property. We were shown all aspects of the grounds and given a full and detailed run through of the cottage, the facilities and the local area. The cottage was perfect for our family summer break, equipped with everything we could need. The hot tub was a particular favourite for us all, and was a perfect ending to the day watching the sunset after a day of family fun on the beach. Our dog Arlo loved the bark park, and as a young dog with lots of energy, he was able to let off steam in the fully enclosed area. The cottage is well placed close to several beaches and amenities to keep all ages entertained. Damian and Louise were so helpful and welcoming where nothing was too much trouble. Lots of additional details were included and made our stay extra special. Would highly recommend. Thank you!

Lovely cottage with amazing views. Everything humans and canines could possibly want on holiday, they loved the 6 acres of doggy heaven in Central Bark - all securely fenced. Truly dog friendly not just dog tolerant, they even had their own welcome packs! Huge hot tub, which also had views to die for and was a really relaxing experience after our busy days visiting local beaches and villages. We intend to be back soon.

We booked a week at Kernock in August. Communication prior to our trip was superb, helping us to pre-book meals and plan activities in advance. We had a lovely welcome from Damian and Louise. They personally showed us around, answered our questions, and had provided a great welcome pack, including things for our dog!

Owl barn is exactly like the pictures. It it nicely appointed, clean, and well stocked with everything you could need - a home away from home. We ate out a lot, and had a Chinese meal delivered, but it looked like there was everything you'd need to cook - I even noticed a hand-blender in the cupboard. The provided toiletries were lovely too. The hot tub was a huge hit with the teens, and there are beautiful views over the valley. We had some rainy days, but when it was clear the views were stunning, and the garden is a lovely place to sit and contemplate life to the sounds of birdsong.

Our dog very much enjoyed "Central Bark" between trips to the local beaches - it was perfect for chasing his ball and sniffing in the wooded areas. We appreciated that there were spare balls and 'wangers' which could be used, as well as plenty of poo bins on site.

Damian and Louise were responsive and helpful when we had questions about the local area, but left us to ourselves to enjoy the peace and quiet. It's clear that a great deal of thought has gone into the detail here, and to ensuring that visitors are well taken care of.

There are two things that anyone thinking of booking should take into consideration:
1. There is hardly any phone service, and poor internet. There is a smart TV, but not enough bandwidth to stream a show once people arrived in the neighbouring cottage. It was better before they arrived. (Starlink or similar would be a worthwhile investment.)
2. Some of the local lanes are VERY narrow. In a large SUV (like us) you may need to ignore satnav when it tries to send you cross country though tiny lanes, and head towards the A-roads instead. Once we figured this out, getting around was much less stressful

If you're ok with those things, and you enjoy stepping away from the pressures of modern life, this is a wonderful location with fantastic hosts. We would recommend this place wholeheartedly and hope to return in the future.

Thank you for this amazing review. We are delighted you had such a good time here. On your two observations we regret we are unable to change the width of the lanes around here - we wish we could - but yes there was an issue with the Internet provision briefly this summer. This was caused by a faulty radio link that sends the broadband connection over to Owl and Tree Barn cottages. This equipment has since been replaced with more modern equipment, providing a much more reliable service, and we regret any inconvenience caused by the previous system. We are grateful you raised this as it gave us the opportunity to conduct tests and improve the facility.

Our family of 5 (including two teens and the dog!) had a wonderful stay at Owl Barn. The property was immaculate and extremely well equipped. Damian and Louise took great care of us as our hosts but equally gave us lots of privacy to enjoy our much needed downtime. Highly recommend, and would love to go back!

As a group of friends we really enjoyed our weekend stay in Owl Barn. The facilities within the cottage were fantastic, the hot tub was fabulous and the setting couldn’t have been more perfect. Lots to do around the surrounding area if you were staying for longer. We received a lovely welcome and the welcome pack of local produce was a nice touch. I would definitely recommend.

Very hospitable stay over Xmas! Lovely spot with views and surrounding countryside. Great hot tub! I did have some reservations about the stairs but needn’t have worried as stair gates provided were very useful, safe for children and dogs. A good size house and very well appointed, and just a short stroll to a pub!

Damian and Louise were the perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Owl Barn is in a peaceful location but conveniently located near a pub, the main road and supermarkets. We were greeted with some wonderful extra touches too, including a new toy for our Frenchie, Ronson. It is rare to find holiday accommodation that’s so dog friendly but has treats for the adults too - we loved the hot tub and its views!

We chose Kernock cottages as they accepted 3 dogs ( most only accept 2)and also had chargers for electric cars.Owl Barn was comfortable . The kitchen was well kitted out but maybe a little small as a large kitchen table took up a lot of space.The welcome pack was very generous. It is the perfect place for dogs with an enclosed area for them to run free and a warm hose to wash them down. Damian could not have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. If we ever holiday in the Saltash area again and had dogs we would choose to stay there again. The highlights for us were a meal at Dan Cox Crocadan restaurant and my husband catching bass off Seaton beach and Halton Quay.

This is the second time we had stayed at Kernock Cottages and we had a great time again. The owners (Damian and Louise) were really welcoming and the welcome pack was a great touch as was the pre holiday email with suggestions of things to do along with other suggestions via What's App after we had arrived. The hot tub was great for relaxing with a superb view over the valley. If you like Cream Tea's the Engine Rooms nearby is great, there are some superb walks nearby and the enclosed fields within the grounds are great for walking the dogs. We didn't have great weather but there were a few days that were good enough for beach visits, Seaton is nice on the South Coast but Widemouth Bay (just under an hours drive) on the North Coast was well worth the drive with some great Surf. A fantastic holiday and would definitely go back again in the future.

We had a fantastic stay at Kernock, children & dogs loved it. Louise & Damien were amazing hosts, lovely welcome pack & hot tub was very much appreciated after a long day out.
Weather mixed but didn’t deter us doing anything. Visited some amazing dog friendly beaches. Louise & Damien provided so much information before we arrived it saved a lot of time trying to decide what to do.
Cottages are lovely, very peaceful & away from the busy world we live in.
It’s very difficult to find dog friendly cottages that take 3 dogs. My dogs loved it here with lots of space & a field they can just run in. That’s when they had enough energy after a day on the beach dashing around & swimming. We’d all definitely come back. Thank you for an amazing stay.

An excellent holiday in rural Cornwall!
Owner is a very friendly and helpful man, nothing is too much trouble.
Cottages are amazing, very comfortable and homely. Plenty of space to eat inside or outside. We used the BBQ several times and enjoyed the views.
Great space for dogs including a doggy welcome pack!
Owl Barn back garden is next to another cottage which was empty during our stay. No problem for us but would probably have made our anxious dog bark.
We were not disappointed in our holiday at all, thank you!

Our stay was perfect from start to finish! Nothing was ever too much to ask for. Our dogs loved the grass & woodland park & the views were beautiful, then even all had a welcome gift including treats & a squeaky toy each. The cottage was very clean & well equipped especially with 2 little ones, high chairs, cots, steriliser & even a bath toy! The recommendations from Damien & Louise prior to arrival & more when we were there were fantastic from the local festivals, dog friendly beaches, different attractions, day trips & places to dine & shop. The BBQ & private hot tub definitely had a lot of use with the stunning views & glorious weather! We would 100% recommend & would definitely return!

A five star break, from start when we were met by Damian at the gate, to the final farewell as we hit the road. Kernock Cottages provided everything and more for our getaway to celebrate a family birthday. There was plenty of space, luxury and comfort. The added touches for our pampered pooch ensured we all felt welcome.

Thank you so much for making or holiday special. All the recommendations on places to visit were perfect. There is so much to do, we will be back.

Beautiful place to visit and relax, lovely walks near by and plenty to visit. The cottage overlooks the most stunning views which can be enjoyed from the hot tub. The owners are so welcoming and humble… the little very old pub in the village, which is about a 20 min walk is snuggly and welcoming with good food…

Stay started with an excellent welcome from Damian … talked us through the cottage, area & some recommendations for visiting & eating out
Cottage was really lovely, breakfast provided for the next day & toys for the dogs all nice extra touches … hot tub was great & views were superb … really well kept & relaxing surroundings … even a warm outdoor shower for the dogs … they have thought of everything
Big area on site “central bark” for the dogs to walk & explore …. They loved it
Local area lots to explore & do …. Local pub weary friar a short walk away … golitha falls & Inkies smokehouse well worth a visit & we enjoyed Louis tea rooms & a walk on kit hill.
Lots of local beaches for the dogs to run around on … would really recommend this place as a great base to explore the lovely local area … thanks for your hospitality we’d love to come back in the future

This was our 2nd stay at Kernock Cottages and our 1st in Owl Barn. Damian and Louise are incredible hosts who genuinely can’t do enough for you as guests. Owl Barn is a fantastic property for us as a family with 2 young children. It is premium quality location, in the most amazing location. Rural and remote, but close enough to amenities and the city of Plymouth.

We [6 of us plus our dog] have just had a fantastic 7 days at Owl Barn. Information supplied by the hosts leading up to our visit was superb with detail on the website as to things to do, where to eat and where to walk being excellent.
On the day of our arrival we were met in the outstanding surroundings by the host Damian who gave us a guided tour and instruction on how various things worked. The welcoming packs for us and our dog were lovely and a great touch.
The cottage is a great size and extremely comfortable, it had everything we needed. The hot tub was a delight, used daily, with stunning views down the valley.
The cottage is in a lovely secluded area with great dog walking paddocks within the grounds. Stunning, longer dog walks weren't far away.
Location was great for exploring, with places such as Looe only 15-20 mins away.
One of the best accommodations we have stayed in.

Excellent stay at the owl barn for 1 week
Excellent service from hosts Damian and Louise all the way through from communication leading up to the holiday and loads of useful information relating to the property and surrounding area. We have been renting properties over the past 6yrs and this is the first time we have been welcomed along with a guided tour on our arrival, this promotes an excellent client facing service. The property was excellent and everything catered for even down to dishwasher tablets, bin bags and kitchen foil. The spa was ideal to relax and unwind after a long day too. Nothing was too much trouble for Damian and Louise and always on hand either text or telephone to answer any queries or questions. A truly wonderful holiday with a fabulous location and property to allow the family to enjoy the what Cornwall has to offer.

We recently enjoyed a break at Owl Barn, Kernock Cottages. We were four adults and two dogs, the house was spacious, comfortable and very clean.
On arrival (very late due to a family wedding) Damian greeted us with warm pizzas and a beer each! Very thoughtful and appreciated.
There was everything you could need in the kitchen, including coffee machine which is a must for us. We were delighted to find a welcome food pack for us (top qualify breakfast products plus a bottle of fizz) and one for our dogs (towels, brand new toy, snacks, poop bags) as well as a bbq, hot top with the best view, and a super comfy lounge. Central Bark - the enclosed dog field - meant that our two lively dogs could have a good run around morning and evening without the need to worry finding somewhere off site. Very handy for us as this meant we could wonder around the beautiful local towns and villages with them on lead as they had had their exercise for the morning. Highly recommend, the owners couldn’t do enough to make our stay perfect. We will return.

A group of 6 adults and 4 dogs stayed in Owl Barn for a long weekend in May 2022. The pre holiday information & contact from the owners was excellent. On arrival we were greeted with a fabulous pack of local produce & brand new toys for the dogs! Dog towels & a crate for our youngest dog also provided to save us bringing our own. Great touch. Accommodation superb and an issue with one of the showers was dealt with very efficiently and quickly. The extensive & secure gardens were a wonderful bonus for our dogs & we enjoyed early morning & late evening rambles around the grounds. Of course the adults had the benefit of the hot tub with those amazing views down the valley. The location of the cottages is brilliant. Half hour drive to Whitsand Bay, Rame Head & the peninsular. Easy access to Lost Gardens of Heligan & Goliath Falls and many other lovely areas. Would definitely recommend and hope to return.

We had an amazing stay at Kernock Cottages and as a family of four adults, with no four-legged friend, we found Owl Barn the perfect base for us to explore the surrounding area. We were greeted and received a very warm welcome from Damian & Louise who were the most obliging hosts. The cottage is spotlessly clean and has everything you could need from a fully equipped kitchen to the board games and everything in between - nothing was overlooked and a real home from home! The location is idyllic, quiet and peaceful with the grounds immaculately maintained and absolutely stunning views across the countryside. We had very full days out and about and returning to the hot tub at the end of the day was an added bonus and the perfect spot to watch the sunset. We loved our stay and couldn't fault it at all and would highly recommend Kernock to any future visitors!

We stayed at Kernock cottages in Owl Barn for our daughters 18th birthday celebration. It was one of the nicest breaks we have had in this country.
Damian & Louise are excellent hosts and even before we arrived we were given lots of helpful information. On arrival there was a superb welcome pack for us and for our Dog too & a fabulous bottle of Prosecco for our daughters birthday, which was so thoughtful.
The cottage was very clean and comfortable with everything you could wish for. There were 6 of us staying and we all had plenty of room. The beds were extremely comfortable & the location was so peaceful, we all slept really well.
The garden was lovely, very secure for our dog and he loved Central Bark for his daily dog walks. The hot tub was amazing with stunning views over the countryside.
We went to the local pub, The Weary Friar and received a very friendly welcome. We also visited Whitsand Bay, on Damian’s recommendation and had a lovely time walking the dog along the beach.
All in all I am so happy we found this amazing place and we will definitely be back. It is a little gem in the beautiful Cornish countryside.

After all the turmoil of the storms, we were kept informed by Damian and Louise of the situation. We arrived to a lovely cottage and care package. They were both so lovely. The cottage was beautiful and had everything you could ever need in lovely surroundings. The whole family and especially the dog had a fantastic time with beaches and walks all within half an hour. Thank you we will be back!

We had another fabulous week at Owl Barn. So peaceful and relaxing, and great for the dogs, secure gardens,etc. Central Bark is a fantastic place to take a quick walk before heading out for the day. The welcome pack is much appreciated and the dog toys (lovely touch). Not forgetting the toiletries…they smell gorgeous! The property was perfect with fantastic views from the hot tub for a relaxing dip after a busy day exploring. We have 2 boys aged 7 and 5 and access to all the outdoor space and trampoline provided endless entertainment for them both! Highly recommended

We, a family of 5, including 3 teenage girls and a young dog on her 1st holiday, had a fabulous holiday and enjoyed our stay at Owl Barn. It is a lovely cottage with lots of space and all the comforts of home in an amazing setting with views that we could not tire of. The hot tub was great and kept very clean by Beth and Hugh who were always there, very friendly and ready to answer any enquiries, while respecting our privacy. Maebelle, our dog,loved the off lead area which is less than a minutes walk from the door and we all enjoyed exploring the local area using the walks on the website blog, suggested by Beth.
We also enjoyed a couple of meals at the local pub, The Weary Friar Inn, where the staff were all welcoming and friendly and the food was great. We would definitely stay again and will recommend to our friends and family.

We were fortunate enough to stay at Owl Barn, Kernock Cottages, in October just before lockdown #2. As a party of 4 adults, a teenager, a baby and four dogs, we've always struggled to find the perfect accommodation, but I can safely say we've now found it!
The list of baby items available was extensive, saving us space in the car, and the dogs were made very at home with a super welcome pack, throws and towels, Central Bark and the enclosed garden - they really have thought of everything.
The 'human' welcome pack was generous, and tasty! And the kitchen was well-equipped, even in the world of covid-19 restrictions - if we found anything missing that we desperately needed, I'm confident Beth would have been happy to supply.
The bedding was super quality, and the towels beautifully fluffy - like a 5-star hotel. And the hot tub was in a lovely spot, with a super view over the valley.
We'd highly recommend Kernock Cottages, and I'm sure we'll be visiting again.

This our 3rd visit to Kernock cottages and 2nd time in Owl Barn. We just love it here. The cottage is so comfortable and equipped with everything you need and more. The welcome packages (human and doggie) are such a nice touch and the bathroom products are gorgeous. Fantastic views from the cottage and the hot tub, a great way to start or end your day. We we’re lucky to have some dry weather and enjoy the views and the garden even in October. We enjoyed some lovely walks in the local area albeit a bit muddy and obviously some amazing beach walks at Whitsand Bay and Seaton. Thank you Beth always a pleasure to see you, and we can’t wait to return soon.

Our stay was excellent and the cottage had everything we needed to enjoy our holiday.

The range of kitchen equipment and utensils are vast, containing everything you would for home cooking. On top of this the hot tub was a great way to relax in the evening and the view were even better!

The accommodation was extremely clean and the new Covid pack was very useful when we were out and about.

Just back from a fantastic week in Owl Cottage - what a fabulous property! The views across the fields and from the hot tub were stunning. The cottage is beautifully decorated and equipped with everything you could wish for, and more. The doggy welcome pack, with treats and toy, together with the makings of a full English breakfast (for human consumption!), and a bottle of Prosecco were delightful extra touches. The location is great, completely secluded in peaceful countryside but only a short drive to beaches, towns and all the attractions that South Cornwall has to offer. Cannot recommend this little retreat enough!

Wow what can I say! From the moment we booked to getting home the hosts were exceptional even providing bottled water for our long trip home. The cottage had everything we needed and more! The views from every window are amazing (we loved the round window and took sunset photos everyday from there) and the quiet surroundings are peaceful. We had full and half day trips from our base which were within easy reach and still had time to relax and read our books. While walking we found play areas for children (we were child free) such as the trampoline and woodland area, perfect for families. We can’t thank our hosts enough.

Our third trip to Kernock Cottages. This time for my husbands birthday and we took his parents with us as well as our two dogs.
We had not stayed in Owl Barn before but were blown away by this lovely cottage.
As ever absolutely beautifully decorated and spotless.
All amenities to hand like a home from home but better.
We cannot recommend this enough. It’s not possible to find fault with Kernock Cottages

Beth's care and attention to detail started from the moment of booking and was much appreciated. It was certainly reflected in the property and access to the country club. Making it very easy to unwind and relax.

We stayed at Owl Barn and as soon as we walked through the door it was obvious this immaculate property was not going to disappoint.
The attention to detail was apparent with the welcome pack supplied for us and our four legged friend on arrival.
Nothing was too much trouble and Beth’s knowledge of the area, lead to some amazing days out. These included thrill seeking at Adrenalin Quarry, kayaking at Talland Bay and shopping in Plymouth, all just a short drive away.
We had a lovely meal at the local pub, The Weary Friar, which was merely a ten minute walk away
The hot tub at Owl Barn was a big hit and made an already fantastic week even better.
The dog walking facilities on site were brilliant and our dog had a lovely busy week too!,
We can’t recommend Kernock Cottages highly enough. We had an amazing time.

The property looks just as it does in the photos and is very clean.
The owners are exceptionally helpful and welcoming with some lovely little touches to welcome you to the property. On hand for any advice needed.
The facilities for dogs are superb! This made the holiday very relaxing for me as I knew that a lovely off lead walk could be had before the fun adventures of the day began.
The hot tub view was incredible and kept beautifully clean with an unforgettable view. We were really lucky and had an amazing sunset one evening which was magical!
I would definitely recommend this property for anyone going away with or without a dog!

First time away with grown up family and the dog. Owl Barn was what I was everything i was looking for with three large bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms & enough parking for 3 cars. Also a hot tub in a beautiful setting looking down the valley.
When I was doing my search for a property there were not many in the area that ticked all these boxes.
The barn was lovely and clean, well equipped. Welcome gift was a nice starter, before finding the local shops, which there were plenty not far away, also the doggy welcome pack too. We had a great time and we will return x

We stayed in owl barn for my husband's 40th birthday in February. We bought our 2 children, 7 and 13, plus or 2 dogs. On arrival Beth had left us a wonderful welcome package with a full English breakfast for the morning, tea and coffee, treats and a bottle of prosecco! I was especially impressed with all of the doggy treats too including towels, poo bags, treats and even a toy. The location is stunning, set in a quiet Cornish valley. The huge hit tub looks over the valley, and you can enjoy beautiful sunsets from there. The cottage is immaculate, comfortable, and has everything you need plus much more. Beth is a wonderful hostess. She was brilliant with questions before arrival, and was always around if needed. It's set in a great part of Cornwall with lots to see and do. We also loved walking our dogs around the brilliantly named 'Central Bark' , which is set on site. We all had a wonderful time, and would love to go back again.

As the weather was not good we were able to spend time together in the comfy lounge and around the dining table, as well as of course in the hot tub. that was the only disappointment that the hot tub was not usable on our first night (Friday)

Stayed here for a week from 30 December 2018 - family of four (two boys aged 12 and 14) and dog, and had a fantastic time. We stayed in the Owl Barn cottage and everything was top notch, including the hot tub that overlooks wonderful countryside views. Location is great, with beaches, villages and country walks just a short drive away. The big plus of staying with Kernock is the superb customer service from Beth, the owner. Once you book, she provides tons of useful information about where to go, what to see and which beaches and pubs are dog friendly (answer - most of them!). Generous basic provisions are provided, including treats and a toy for the dog and what we really appreciated was being able to have the dog on the couch, as long as he was on a blanket - just like being at home! Highly recommended.

I don’t know who enjoyed it more. My Son who at 3 still says to me every morning I want to go back, my dog who spent hours rabbiting in central bark and the secure yet enormous field behind. Or us who enjoyed the beautiful countryside, the solitude of the early morning walks, the breathtaking views alongside all the home comforts of an extremely well equipped and stylish home away from home. We will definitely be back!

The house was exceptionally well equipped (even had kitchen scales, coffee maker and a mortar and pestle, and basic spices salt and pepper tea and nice coffee etc) There was a lovely welcome pack with crusty bread, milk, and sparkling wine as well as other food which went down well The beds were really comfortable and the hot tub was the best we have ever been in, and had gorgeous views. The outside space for sitting at the front door was quite small (and cramped if you wanted to use the table) but quite private (the path to adjacent cottage passes by the seating area, but no other people about.) There was a lovely gas barbecue at the front, and a clothes airer, although the washing would be on your head if trying to use the table at the same time. The upstairs lounge was cosy and comfortable. The only down side for us was that, possibly as it is an old building, or perhaps because dogs are allowed, there was a musty or damp smell particularly in the basement where two of the bedrooms are. We were also aware of there having been dogs in the property which was quite a factor for us, and may put us off returning. Of course we did know in advance that dogs are allowed, and we are super sensitive to dog smells as 2 of the party are allergic. There was a lovely big trampoline close by for guest use. The other thing to mention is that despite membership cards being on offer to borrow for a leisure club, it is about 20 minutes drive away, and cost us £27 for 3 people to use the gym and pool (once!)

We spent a week here with our grown-up kids and their partners. The facilities were absolutely top notch with every detail seemingly thought of. The layout of Owl Barn is great for feeling you're all together but at the same time have your own space. We only went to one local pub, The Weary Friar, which was relaxed with good quality and portions of food from a wide menu. We can also highly recommend the butcher at the farm shop at Tamar View Nurseries. The view of the valley from the hot tub at sunset is something very special.

We had a lovely week at Owl Barn with 2 babies and a toddler. Everything we needed was provided. We got snowed in half way through the week, but it didn't matter with a hot tub and play area and trampoline to keep the toddler busy! Beth couldn't have been more helpful, sorting the frozen pipe very quickly, and arranging for us to stay on if we hadn't have been able to leave on our departure day. I can thoroughly recommend for families with young children.

We visited in late November for 5 nights with our 3 kids and dog. The cottage was even better than the pictures! The upstairs reading nook and tv/game area were very cozy, my kids loved all the games and dvds, and the hot tub was a huge hit! The dog loved exploring the property, I think my family would have been fine if we never left the cottage! Beth was very helpful and informative - both before we arrived and during our stay. The house was very clean and spacious, and the book with local information and dog-friendly pubs was very appreciated. I would definitely recommend this place!

Disappointed to find the trampoline packed away. The 2 downstairs bedrooms are dark with no decent outlook. Kitchen very good, bathrooms okay.

I'm so sorry that you were disappointed. The trampoline is usually up until the end of the October half term, but unfortunately it was damaged just before your stay by bigger children using it inappropriately, and was not safe to leave out. We had ordered a new one, but it wasn't delivered when you were here. I can also only apologise that you appear to have found the service lacking - we do the hot tubs daily, but we do try to do them when guests are out so as not to disturb your holiday. When you requested new bedding after an accident we supplied it immediately, and also the Country Club cards when you asked for them, so I'm not quite sure what else you may have been expecting in a self-catering cottage? Regarding the bedrooms, the cottage is "upside down" so that the living areas make full advantage of the views, and the cottage is generally very light and airy, and I wouldn't personally describe the two downstairs bedrooms as dark (both have two windows). Most guests find that the 3D tours of the cottages are very useful for providing an accurate representation, as they enable you to "walk" around every room in each cottage to make sure it is suitable for your needs :)

This was our second visit Kernock Cottages - we rarely return to a cottage, and only ever when we have been charmed and have absolutely loved it. I think that probably says it all!

We could not fault the cleanliness and friendliness of the owners. Great for families (especially with a dog/s).
Hot - tub was very large and very clean. Would highly recommend Kernock Cottages.

Owl barn is a special place to stay and to completely relax. Really well equipped and an excellent place to unwind. It has amazing views (especially from the hot tub!). We always receive a warm welcome from Beth and always available for any help. The welcome pack for us and the doggies are just a lovely touch. Plenty to do with the dogs close by, our favourite beach to walk and play on is Whitsand Bay, completely unspoilt and peaceful. Kernock cottages are also a great base to explore, only an hour away from Dartmoor National Park and the east coast of Cornwall. This was our second visit to Kernock cottages and I know we will return time and time again, just perfection.

This is our third stay at Kernock Cottages but our first time in Owl Barn.
Another lovely week spent in beautiful accommodation set within beautiful grounds.
Beth was, as always, very helpful and always on hand when needed.
We had a fabulous time.

Fantastic cottage in a fabulous location with stunning views. Owl barn had everything you could possibly need and provided items for my one year old so I didn't have to like stair gates, high chair and baby monitor. Kids loved the hot tub especially in the evening watching the sunset. Would definitely recommend.

Hi Claire. I'm so glad you all enjoyed the cottage, and you certainly had some cracking weather. Hopefully you weren't short of anything while you were her - sorry if you felt the customer service was lacking - we try to liaise with our guests before they arrive to make sure they have everything they need, and give them ideas for things to do etc, so that when you are here, once we have welcomed you and shown you how things work, you can get on with enjoying your holiday. We also try where possible to do things like daily hot tub maintenance when guests are out, so as not to disturb you, but we are always on hand if needed. If all goes smoothly, then you may not see us at all between your arrival and your departure (unless you want to), which doesn't mean we aren't offering a service! :)

I had good vibes about this cottage booking from the outset with an early exchange of friendly and welcoming emails. We were a family group of three generations including a young baby and Beth immediately suggested the Mum get in touch with her direct to choose from the extensive range of baby equipment offered to be provided. This saved much car space on the way down.

On arrival we had a great welcome - personally and by the welcome pack of food. The cottage was very well equipped and furnished with many homely extras. Although there is an adjoining cottage (but not attached) we did not feel overlooked and each garden area (with hot tubs) felt private. Although staying in October the hot tub was much used (every generation other than the baby!) and the views from it down the local valley at both sunset and sunrise were stunning.

Pillaton is off the beaten track somewhat (an advantage in my view) though the Weary Friar pub is not far away and well worth a visit. Many local walks (maps and directions provided) and it is not too far to a range of popular destinations once in the car.
We had a really enjoyable long weekend and although not cheap, well worth splashing out for. We would love to come back.

Owl Barn is set in beautiful countryside and has everything you could ever want for a relaxing holiday with the bonus of a hot tub, overlooking tranquil scenes. The barn is completely private with another barn nearby but not overlooked and as is described. The facilities are probably better than you imagine. With plenty of cooking dishes, food processor (if so required) for a relaxing stay just round the barn with home from home facilities. We had a two year old and it was no trouble to put in safety gates, as there are stairs up to lounge mezzanine area and downstairs to two of the bedrooms. He was also pleased to see some lovely farm toys!

We were visiting Cornwall for a wedding so didn't benefit completely from the barn. It would have been great to have spent more time just relaxing there and just enjoying the environment.
If you haven't been to the area before, once off main roads, there are many, very small, car width roads which it might be useful to know about.
This doesn't take away from the barn, which was welcoming to get back to!
Wished we had been able to go just for a relaxing holiday.
The welcome pack was also very useful and nearby Waitrose is handy with food deliveries that can be arranged.

Can not recommend Kernock cottages highly enough!
We stayed in Owl Barn the view from the hot tub is Amazing so relaxing:)
The location is secluded and private yet you're only approx 30mins away from most local activities.
What we loved most was the hospitality towards our fur babies (doggies) who were made to feel very welcome indeed!
On arrival we loved the blankets, treats, messy bags and toy for the dogs and the welcome hamper with bread, milk, sausages,
eggs and bacon. (Would have liked a little butter for the bread but I'm being picky).
Loved the little touches like soft robes, high quality toiletries, towels and bedding.
We had a wonderful 10 night stay and we're really looking forward to returning in the future.
We're sure you'll love it as much as we did!

Our first visit to Kernock Cottages was back in 2007 (we checked the visitors' book entry!) so that tells you something. As ever we found Beth and Hugh friendly and welcoming and the surroundings were as relaxing as before. Our son had a friend with him this time and the boys loved the hot tub, especially the changing lights at night! In addition my wife's parents came too - they had been with us back in 2007 as well and they also remembered Owl Barn very fondly and had a relaxing time - just right when you're 90 and 83...
All in all, another very good stay and highly recommended.

10 / 10 Brilliant time, cottage was everything and more. Views beautiful from hot tub. Child friendly, dog friendly and will be booking up to go back.
Comfortable beds and wonderful shower rooms. Very spacious, great comfortable furnishings and well equipped. Home from home. Left alone but great customer service when needed. You appreciate how much the owners go out of their way to make your holiday special. Bearing in mind how close this is to the coasts and Devon (Tamar Bridge) it is do peaceful, quiet and tranquil. Kernock Cottages lead the way in high class cottages in Cornwall.

Kernock Cottages fully delivered on the quality of property and its facilities, and over-delivered on their communication and information for everything needed to make the most of you time there. The views from the hot tub across unspoilt countryside are fantastic, and the other cottages are spreadoutbthrough the grounds so it's almost as if you are the only one.
There's a good pub / restaurant in the village about a 10-12 minute walk away, and it's only a few miles to a Waitrose.
The Wi-Fi was good enough to use our Amazon Fire Stick and watch some good files from the sofas and bean bags - very welcome given the weather everywhere in the UK this Christmas and NewYear. From a tranquil location lots of different activities and locations are accessible from the City of Plymouth to some great coastal villages and walks.
We all felt very at home and would have no hesitating returning in the near future. Kernock provide everything needed for you to ha a great time, making the most of it is up to you!

A superb place with 5* comfort and facilities, with the additional bonus of your doggy friend being welcome! We've often struggled to find a high quality luxury place that allows dogs to stay but Ella, our Airedale Terrier, thoroughly enjoyed being able to explore the safe, fully-enclosed large grounds of this estate and was welcomed with her own doggy pack on arrival, including towel, fleece for her sit on the settee (Wow! - a real treat for Ella), a toy and a packet of goodies. The owners, Beth and Hugh, are extremely friendly and helpful and made sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. The information pack provided in the cottage was well thought out with more than enough information for us to enjoy our stay. To sit in the hot tub looking down the valley and watch a golden sunset was a piece of heaven - a stunning way to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary!

The cottage was lovely and set in a wonderful location with great views. It was well equipped, clean and comfortably sleeps 6.
It was within easy reach of the beach, we would recommend Whitsand Bay. All in all we had a great time and Kernock cottages provided the ideal accommodation.

Cottage very clean, everything you need is there, hot tub had fab views and was covered so could enjoy even in the rain. Do need a car as set in countryside so have to drive everywhere. Beth and Huge always on hand if needed anything or advise on the best places to visit. Will definitely go back!

This is a very comfortable and well equipped property in a lovely quiet rural location with very helpful and generous hosts. It's a great place to stay with reasonable access to a number of popular tourist spots.

Three generations of our family plus dog stayed in Owl Barn for 5 days in October. Fantastically well equipped including a selection of board games which kept the grandsons enthusiastically happy. The cottage had everything one could need and Beth the owner was available to answer any questions and make us all very welcome. Lovely to be able to wander around the grounds and feel safe letting the boys and dog wander off for their adventures!

We had a wonderful weekend at Owl to celebrate a 50th birthday. The accomodation was lovely and clean and the cottage was fitted and furnished to a high standard. There was everything we needed; I even cooked a celebratory meal there. The beds were comfy and each room having an ensuite was a bonus. Waitrose delivered to us which was great and saved time on our weekend.

The dogs were made to feel very welcome - with throws, towels, toys and treats left for our arrival.
Beth looked after us just the right amount whilst we were there and communication before the trip was excellent.

I would recommend Kernock Cottages for a special weekend and truly memorable stay away. Thank you Beth for helping to make a special birthday even more special.

We rented Owl Barn as we were attending a friends wedding nearby. The cottage is lovely with a properly stocked kitchen, beautiful views and is very comfortable (proper bedding and towels etc. )

There are lots of nice touches like the bacon, sausages eggs milk bread etc. provided on arrival as well as decent toiletries you can use by white company.

What made my weekend though was how helpful they were in terms of looking after my dog while I was at the wedding and taking her to play with Bou (their bull mastiff), providing a crate for me to leave her in and generally making the weekend really easy for me.

Not only that but as they knew we were attending a wedding and where is was Beth came down with a map and directions of how to get there to avoid a large accident she had heard about.

I don't have any yet but this cottage looks great if you have children as there is everything you could possibly need there (baby gates etc) which I actually used to keep the dog on the ground floor.

We will definitely be back, it is rare you find a cottage you can actually go to for the weekend where you can be as comfortable as you are at home, Beth has achieved that with their attention to detail. Thank you.

We arrived and were met by Beth who had the key. She took us in and showed us around. It was beautiful. Straight into a lovely kitchen diner with circular table and chairs. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans and Beth had very kindly bought us bacon, eggs, sausages,bread, tea, coffee and sugar. Two male members of the party were soon tucking in to a delicious meal.
One bedroom with king size bed was on the entrance level and had everything a guest could need. Downstairs were two more bedrooms, both double. My daughter and son-in law had the king size bed with a z-bed added for my grand-daughter. My husband and me had the other room with really comfortable twin-beds. All bedrooms were en-suite.
Upstairs from the kitchen diner was the lounge area. It had two really nice leather sofas, coffee table, TV and DVD player. This room was in the apex of the cottage and very quirky. A radio and CD player was also up there and this had an iPod dock
We absolutely loved our weekend and we all highly recommend it. The surrounding countryside is beautiful with rabbits galore. The children enjoyed the play facilities whenever we were back at the cottage. We hope to visit again as soon as we can.
