he Coach House (5* Gold) is designed as a comfortable romantic retreat for two (plus cot, if required). It has a galleried bedroom with king-size bed overlooking a double height sitting room with dining area and has a separate oak kitchen. The bathroom has an L-shaped bath with shower over, and a glass screen. The cottage roof beams and lintels are exposed, and the flooring is Rhodesian teak downstairs, with rugs, and carpets in the bedroom area. Outside the Coach House has a private garden with barbeque and hardwood outside furniture. There is exterior lighting in the garden for sitting outside on warm evenings. The Coach House has ample parking for 2 cars a short distance from its garden. -

We booked a stay at the Coach House because we wanted a relaxing holiday with our dog. When we saw how dog friendly the accomodation was we couldn't say no, and I'm so glad we didn't! It's quite often you'll book somewhere 'dog friendly' only to arrive and find out there are a long list of rules to follow. Kernock cottages are the definition of dog friendly, even providing a secure walking location on site. It's the perfect getaway for pooches and people!

We had a wonderful three night stay at the Coach house. The facilities, including secure dog walking field, hot tub (used every night!) and the accomodation itself were all top notch. Damian is a very attentive, affable and informative host and provides details on a plethora of walks and other things to do locally.
The welcome pack was great too and much appreciated by humans and canines alike.
In a nutshell, they love dogs, there is a hot tub and you and your doggy friend will love staying here! We will certainly be back!

A wonderful little cottage for 2 of us and our dog for a 2 night stay. The setting was lovely, peaceful and overlooked a beautiful valley and the cottage was very well kitted out. There was a generous food and drink hamper as well as a few bits for our dog waiting for us. Our hosts were so helpful and friendly and provided the most comprehensive set of information about things to do and see we've ever had and talked us through everything, which was really useful. The hot tub was so relaxing after long walks along the coast and rivers. There are so many beautiful walks and places to visit, we all loved it. Crocadon cafe and restaurant were definitely worth a visit - the pastries and coffee in the cafe were delicious and the dinner at the restaurant was one of the best and most unusual meals we've ever eaten - and in such a special setting. We would definitely make a return visit

A treat for two.

Nice to get a personal meet on arrival, rare these days, with a detailed introduction to the property and facilities.
Well maintained and very nicely presented, we felt it was a good size for two (and their dog) with the rooms suitably proportioned throughout.
The welcome pack, kitchen starters!, was probably the best we've had and the bathroom toiletries were a nice touch too.
We found no issues, either with the house or with the pre-booking information - the level of detail was very good, better than a lot we've experienced and was accurate.
Our break was very short, but coupled with the great weather it was a really lovely stay.
We would certainly check availability for our next southern/eastern Cornwall visit, without hesitation.
The location, quiet, secluded and "slightly remote", suited us admirably.
Highly recommend The Coach House.

We had a wonderful stay at Kernock Cottages. As the first guests that had ever arrived by foot, our hosts were incredibly generous and really went the extra mile to ensure we had a lovely stay, including dropping us at the station on our last day. Damien and Louise were incredibly attentive, caring and kind and really made the stay memorable. The cottages themselves are fantastic and the hot tub is a great bonus too, we’d love to return again!

The Coach House is in a lovely secluded setting with excellent facilities. The accommodation was very clean, comfortable and well appointed. The whole site is well attended and provides walks with lovely views across the local countryside. The information provided for local attractions and walks was much appreciated giving plenty of options for exploring the area. We really enjoyed our stay.

We have stayed In many rental properties for summer holidays, since 2014, and always with dogs.
The Coach House was comfortable, well equipped and pristinely clean. The property is private and secluded, within beautiful grounds, overlooking a small valley. It is a peaceful and relaxing place to stay.
It is very safe for dogs and small children as you are a long way from any roads. There is a glade secured by a fence where dogs can run and explore of the lead.
Dog friendly pub is 15 minutes walk.
Excellent dog friendly beaches are a short drive. We recommend Seaton.
The owners live close by and are always available for assistance if required.
It is rare for rentals to live up to expectations but Kernock Cottages smashed it.
We had the best holiday for many years.
Highly recommended!

We spent a week in August at Kernock Cottages renting the Coach House. We were greeted by the owners when we arrived and were escorted down to the the Coach House. Blown away!! Fantastic place, well kept gardens and grounds, beautiful part of the countryside, the white washed stone walls, the hot tub, the list goes on.

The owners (Damian and Louise) are lovely hosts and we couldn't thought them. Really helpful with anything you need and provide you with plenty of information for your time in Cornwall. Theres food, tea and coffee for when you arrive so you don't need to rush around and grab something. Scones, jam and clotted cream, bacon, sausages, eggs, milk etc. There's even toys and treats for your dog, which our dog loved! The cottage has everything you need, comfy beds, full kitchen, great bathroom and is totally set up for a perfect stay.

Great location. About 30 minutes away from your nearest dog friendly beach and the trip through the Cornish countryside never ceases to amaze. Walking distance to the nearest pub and a short drive to the local shops and superstore.

Everything was perfect! We stayed in the Coach House which was ideal for us - 2 adults and 2 dogs. All the important basics are there - comfortable bed; good shower; spacious living area; well-equipped kitchen. Even better, are the details you miss from home, like a properly sharp kitchen knife (there were several!); good coffee; big bath towels; a big sofa; underfloor heating (essential for a UK August!). Louise and Damien are excellent hosts, who really have thought of everything and made us feel so welcome . Their knowledge of the area and recommendations for things to do was invaluable. The secure dog field was ideal as we didn’t let the dogs off lead much on our walks in unfamiliar locations (nobody needs their dog chasing a seagull on a coast path along high cliffs!) It’s also great that the cottage has a secure garden surrounding it so we could just open the front door and let them out without any worries. Dog towels, toys, pupcakes, a crate and water bowl all added to the sense that dogs are more than welcome :-)
The local pub does a very nice pint; also recommend the Sardine Factory in Looe for an excellent menu and great service; a sunny afternoon walking round the historic Plymouth waterfront was unexpectedly enjoyable; blustery walks around the Rame peninsula were also a must do, with a lunch stop at the Devonshire Arms in Kingsand or the Canteen at Maker Heights both being excellent.

Suffice to say, we’ll be back!

Peace and tranquility.

My wife and I along with our German Shepherd dog stayed in the Coach House for 5 nights in August.

From start to finish communication with Damian and Louise was fantastic. The information that is available upon arrival and provided via text / email from them about the nearby facilities goes over and above and leaves you doing very little if anything in realms of having to research the local area. They truly have done everything to make your stay as best as they can and they are exceptional at doing just that.

The cottage was over and above our expectations and was truly a joy to stay in. It was so peaceful! Not only was the garden secure but also nearby fields all secure to allow your dog to run around without worry.

Highly recommended.

We stayed for 3 nights in July 2024 in The Coach House. Damien and Louise are wonderful hosts - providing lots of information about the cottage before you come so you know what to bring and what’s provided, plus information about the area and super clear instructions for finding them. They gave us a quick tour on arrival and were friendly and welcoming - a lovely start to a much needed break. The cottage was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Towels were large and fluffy and the toiletries were high quality. The bed was very comfortable which helped my husband who struggles with a bad back. It was extra dog friendly with treats, a toy and dog blanket for those dogs who like to go on the sofa. A dog shower outside and towel was also provided. Such a thoughtful touch. The kitchen was clean and had everything you could possibly need, plus again some lovely treats for guests from the local community shop. The fully enclosed private garden was pretty and well maintained. There was more information about the area which we used to make the most of our stay. Polperro was very pretty but I would probably avoid going on a weekend in the summer as it must get incredibly busy. We enjoyed some walks recommended by them along the river which was perfect on a hot day. Inkies Smokehouse was also a great recommendation as the food was simply delicious. The cottage was wonderfully quiet and peaceful. We had a lovely wander around the estate on the first night after our return from the the very friendly local pub which is just 15 minutes along the road. Thank you Damien and Louise for such a lovely stay. It was just what we needed and all your hard work and thoughtful touches were really appreciated. If you hadn’t guessed, I would highly recommend and we are hoping to come and stay again in the future.

Our second time at this beautiful peaceful location. We stopped in the Coachhouse this time, perfect property for 2 people , lovely secure and private garden for our 2 dogs, and a hot tub. A very generous welcome pack is included including a gift for the dogs ! The property was immaculately presented and well equipped. The hosts go out of their way to make sure you have a great stay and provide lots of useful info and recommendations on places to visit. Lots of great local places to take the dogs, including Seaton beach,Edgcumbe park,Golitha falls(with lunch at Inkies),Siblyback lake, Cardinham woods.
Thankyou Damian and Louise,
We hope to see you again soon

We were most impressed during our stay at the Coach House. The location is idyllic and could not be beaten if you want a quiet stay in beautiful countryside. The accommodation was very comfortable and of a really high standard. The administration from the moment of booking, to the email thanking us for staying after we had left, was faultless. Our dog also loved it! Well done to Damian and Louise and their team.

Stayed for three nights in the Coach House. Everything has been thought about. The personal touches and consideration for people and their pooches were above and beyond. Damian did an amazing job at making us feel welcome, and the advice and local knowledge information was brilliant. There were people in at least two of the three other cottages and we still felt like we had the place to ourselves! Very private. Can’t recommend Kernock Cottages highly enough. We’re already planning our next visit!

Kernow cottages is set in a peaceful location with good views and ideal for those seeking an "away from it" location.

The Coach House was very well equipped with many extra thoughtful touches including for the dogs. Having an enclosed garden around the Coach House was ideal when you have dogs, who enjoyed exploring the central bark safely off lead. Host Damian was on hand when we arrived to explain the facilities and offer any local knowledge.

It Isn't the cheapest place to stay, but if you have dogs and want to stay in comfortable clean surroundings in spacious grounds away from the crowds, then Kernow Cottages is well worth paying that bit extra for. Delightful. It's certainly about the best dog safe place we've stayed.

It was such a treat to stay at the Coach House. The welcome pack was delicious with local sausages, bacon, butter, and juice, there were even treats and toys for our 2 dogs. The garden was enclosed and is dog friendly, although if you have an inquisitive large dog like we do, just keep and extra eye on the gate (ours managed to jump it and went exploring!) It had everything you could ask for and more. The sample shampoo, condition and lotions were a lovely little extra, as were the toweling robes for the hot tub. Damian, the host, was a fountain of local knowledge and was always on hand with advice or information when required. He told us about lots of walks and places to eat which are also in the very comprehensive welcome guide. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to have a luxury cottage but still wants to bring the dogs.

Nothing was any trouble at all for Damien and Louise for our stay at the Coach house. The place is welcoming, clean and tidy. Stunning views in a quiet location. I thought the other cottages would be more close together but was pleasantly surprised at how secluded we felt. Our girls all loved Central Bark, with plenty of wildlife to see on our doorstep, even a Roe Deer!
The suggested walks were brilliant and provided alternatives that would still be suitable depending on what the weather was doing. Being so close to the SW coastal path was also a win.
We would not hesitate to stay again.

The welcome pack of local produce was lovely and a very tasty touch. The hot tub gave a welcoming and relaxing way to end the evening. We definitely will be back, hopefully with our new dog to take advantage of the walks around the site.

This was our 3rd stay at Kernock Cottages and it did not disappoint.
The cottage was spotlessly clean and perfectly presented as always.
Damian, the owner sent us lots of places to visit and following his recommendations we went to Golitha Falls and visited Inkies smokehouse - the pancakes were the best ever. We also went to The Canteen at Maker Heights, what a gem of a place. We walked down into Kingsand from there which is a lovely place.
It was really good to get back to the cottage after a day out and relax in the hot tub with a drink and watch the sunset.
A perfect break for us and the dog

Myself, my partner and dog stayed at The Coach House for a long weekend over New years eve. Damian & Louise are very friendly and informative. Their customer service is 5* and they really care about how you find your stay and want to make it a great stay for you. They send all information when you book and also greet you when you arrive to run through everything. We had quite wet weather and Damian suggested walks through woods where we wouldn't get so wet which was very helpful as we were still able to get out and explore. We were able to contact them with any questions/suggestions whilst we were there too which was really handy. The coach house itself is beautiful. It has everything you need, is clean and you are welcomed with local bacon/sausages/eggs which is a really nice touch. Treats & a toy were also left for Frank (our frenchie) which is a lovely extra touch. The coach house has a garden and hot tub which we used with ease and really enjoyed. The grounds the cottages are set on are beautiful. We walked Frank in the dog park most days as it is secure and he can be off the lead. The sunsets from the dog park and our cottage were also amazing to watch. There is so much to do locally from walks, beaches, visiting nearby places. We also had lovely meals out as well as take aways to the cottages. They get Indian and Chinese deliveries which is really handy. We will definitely be back to stay again and recommend to family and friends.

We selected this 'dog friendly cottage' on-line from a number of options and were delighted with our choice. It was exactly as described, with everything we needed already provided. The cottage itself was clean, comfortable and well-equipped, even with a towel to wipe the dog's feet! The welcome pack contained fresh local products that obviated the need to dash out for supplies early on. Having a 6-acre dog walking field on-site, plus a secure garden, plus a hot-tub ensured a stress free and relaxing break. We were given loads of local information and ideas of places to visit, and were not disappointed with those we chose to venture to. The hosts were very friendly and keen to ensure our holiday at their site was a good one. We would definitely recommend this venue to others if an east Cornwall break suits their needs.

We visited Kernock due to a recommendation from a friend. He is no longer a friend (just joking). It suited our needs perfectly, mainly because we wanted somewhere that we could take our 11 month old puppy and feel relaxed that she would be safe and welcomed. It didn't disappoint - she absolutely loved it. As Damian said, they aren't the cheapest but we knew that when we booked. The attention to detail, information provided, friendliness of the owner, environment, proximity to beaches and and lovely local walks made paying that bit extra well worth it. That's it really - couldn't fault anything and would highly recommend it.

Cannot recommend this holiday location enough. The thought that has gone into the entire experience is unlike anywhere else I’ve stayed.
Damian, was there to welcome us, having provided excellent detailed directions to find them. He provided local information and recommendations which were first rate.
The Coach house was exceptional, every possible kitchen appliance and utensil provided. Toiletry samples provided were divine. The hot tub was a welcome addition to the private garden, which was used daily! And complimentary Prosecco was enjoyed in there! The 6acre fully enclosed dog walking area, Central Bark, is a fantastic addition which our 2 loved!
Welcome packs are provided for both you and your dogs. Locally sourced produce for you, a dog toy, dog towels, treats and poo bags for your dogs. With throws for the sofa, so cuddles in the evenings are expected.
The Weary Friar pub 2 mins up the lane has great ales, delicious food, lovely locals, is very dog friendly. Definitely worth a visit or 3!
All in all a fantastic place to holiday.

My husband, myself and our two dogs stayed in The Coach House for five nights and had the most wonderfully relaxing stay. We were greeted by Damian who was super friendly and very helpful. The Coach House itself was stunning, the perfect size for a couple, well equipped, luxurious and immaculately clean throughout. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need and the welcome pack that awaited us was fantastic (bread, butter, eggs, sausages, bacon, orange juice, milk, tomatoes and a bottle of prosecco ready chilled). Even the dogs were well catered for. Each received a toy, a bag of treats and a roll of poo bags. They really had thought of everything! There is also an enclosed area on site where the dogs are free to roam and explore and even balls are provided. The Coach House itself had an enclosed garden which was great as we could relax while the dogs could come and go at their leisure, The hot tub was a welcome addition after a day of Cornish sightseeing. The bathroom was spacious, toiletries were provided and the shower was very powerful. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kernock Cottages to friends and family.

The Coach House, in a beautiful and peaceful Cornish spot, proved to be a perfect cottage for the two of us and our two dogs. It is very well appointed, beautifully clean and everything that we could possibly need had been provided. Damian is a very welcoming and attentive host (without being intrusive) and gave us really useful information, both before and during our stay, about the cottage itself, places to visit, pubs, farm shops, etc. We had a lovely stay, relaxing in the hot tub and making good use of the BBQ, knowing that the dogs could potter about safely in the garden, which is pretty, well maintained and a real sun trap. Our dogs loved the freedom to explore Central Bark and very much appreciated the doggy welcome pack - we loved our welcome pack too (plenty of tasty local goodies). Thanks Damian and Louise for such a fantastic stay x

This was our third visit to Kernock Cottages in eighteen months, and we are already planning the next one. We stayed in the beautiful Coach House where we were met by Damian and Louise, who pointed out the improvements they had made since our last visit. We thought it was perfect then, but the little extra touches were wonderful. It's remarkable that they continue to improve what they have to offer, a sign of a couple who are not content to settle for mere perfection and really care about making sure their guests have every comfort.

The welcome pack was fantastic, from the locally sourced sausages, bacon, bread and butter, to the bottle of Prosecco already chilling in the fridge. Even Solo our dog was remembered, with a wonderful welcome pack of his own. He brought the toy he was given on our last visit, so we were delighted when he was given another one!

Every thought has been given to providing information about local walks as well as attractions further afield. We tried a number of suggested walks and explored a few finds of our own. Kernock Cottages really is the perfect getaway in the most perfect part of Cornwall. Don't bother looking elsewhere. This place has it all, and Damian and Louise are the perfect hosts.

Firstly, I’ve already booked to visit again next year. I loved every minute of my stay in the beautiful Coach House with my two dogs.
On arrival I was welcomed by Damian and Louise who made sure I had everything I needed from the delicious breakfast welcome pack to the operation of the hot tub.
Everything you could possibly need is there. The accommodation was extremely comfortable, clean and very well equipped. Robes for the hot tub and the doggy welcome treats and toys were such a lovely touch. The enclosed garden was perfect for the dogs to go out and play whilst relaxing in the hot tub.
On-site there is ‘Central Bark’ a wonderful mix of woods, grass and valley just for the dogs to enjoy true off lead freedom with plenty of places for me to sit and enjoy the views or watch them play.
I didn’t explore the surrounding area on this visit but I know there is lots to do, see and explore. This trip was about true rest and relaxation which I managed in a gorgeous setting.

We had a fantastic stay in the Coach House with our two huskies. Damian and Louise were very welcoming and helpful and provided some really useful information on the local area as well as a great inventory that meant we didn't need to think about what to bring 'just in case' and could focus on simply relaxing. The grounds are beautiful and we could happily chill out at the cottage as well as enjoying some day trips. We really appreciated how dog friendly the cottages are and the understanding towards our two huskies. We will definitely be going back!

It is often difficult to find dog friendly properties that will accept 3 dogs but here we were welcomed. Dog wise they have thought of everything to make the holiday easier for owners. We used central bark every day where the dogs could run free and safely. The cottage was clean throughout, really well equipped for cooking and the gas bbq was an added bonus. We used the hot tub everyday too, which was so relaxing and the dogs could be with us in the secure garden. Damien provided great information about all there was to do locally which was brilliant, so we were able to pack our days with long beach walks and seeing local coastal towns. We will be returning next year!

We booked our stay at The Coach House last year as we had seen so many good reviews on Facebook and wanted a safe nearby space to exercise our year old border collie. However, the reviews didn't do it justice. I have personally managed a number of holiday homes in the UK and abroad and, along with a healthy dose of OCD, have very high expectations of 5 star properties. The Coach House exceeded even those.
The personal welcome, the well equipped clean property (complete with gorgeous spa toiletries), the comfortable beds, the attention to detail and the peaceful location were all exceptional. During our journey down, Damian kept us up to date with local information and events which enabled us to fully relax and plan our stay without any assistance from Google! As the weather was so hot during our stay, we made full use of the recommended river walks and dog friendly pubs in the area.
The other properties were all occupied during our stay, but they are so well spaced out that you can sit in the garden and hear nothing but the sound of the birdsong or the sheep in the nearby field.
The crowning glory for us was the thought that had gone into Central Bark...a huge safely enclosed area to exercise your dog at the end of a long day with ball throwers and balls provided. Bailey loved running around chasing the rabbits and birds, whilst we sat on the bench in the meadow watching the sun go down. Their own pet welcome pack, dog bowls and their own towel was just the cherry on the cake.
If you are considering a holiday at The Coach House, I would say don't hesitate....book it now, before someone else. The years of experience and hard work at Kernock Cottages has truly paid off and you will be hard pushed to find a more relaxing holiday in such beautiful surroundings.

This was our second stay at The Coach House at Kernock Cottages, and from the moment we turned into the drive, I can honestly say it felt like we were coming home.
Damian was there to greet us as before, but this time it was like we had never been away. He remembered everything about us, our family and what mattered in our lives. Even Solo our dog, who we brought for the first time, took to him straightaway!
The welcome pack was fantastic, with food and drink to last all weekend. We especially enjoyed the bottle of bubbly the first night as it was my wife's birthday.
Although we never doubted it, it was wonderful to see Solo take to Central Bark and run like a mad thing all over the glorious secure six acres that it provides.
We walked forever each day, enjoying places that Damian recommended as well as returning to a few of our favourites. The hot tub was fantastic to slip into after a long day on our feet.
Everything about the weekend was perfect, and we will certainly be coming back again. So let's continue to keep this just between ourselves, so we can be sure to be able to book again without the place being full up!

I stayed in the Coach House which has all you might need for a break away. It is really comfortable and in a beautiful quiet location. The welcome pack is outstanding, full of local produce. Even my dog was made welcome with a gift. The garden is genuinely secure and the enclosed dog park heaven for rabbit chasers. Damian is very welcoming and helpful. An excellent place to stay if you want a base to see the local area or just a quiet place to get away.

We have stayed twice at The Coach House and we will keep returning. Damian and Louise are very thoughtful hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. The cottage is very clean and full of quality items which make the stay so nice, the kitchen has all the things you need and more, so eating in is very easy to do. The welcome pack is above and beyond, the local produce is a very nice touch and we wanted to buy the same bread to go home.
They don't forget the dogs and they have treats, towels and toys as well as a water bowl and doggy bags. The dogs love running and sniffing in Central Bark and its a lovely place for us to sit and take in the beautiful and very quiet view. Sitting in the hot tub in the evening you can also appreciate the lack of light pollution and the peace of this location.
We don't want too many people to know about it as we like to think of it as our secret escape.

We had the most wonderful stay at the Coach House-I honestly cannot think of any way in which it could have been better. The level of customer care was just right-lovely to be greeted by Damian who also gave lots of great walk and eating suggestions. Our dog loved his welcome pack and exploring central bark. We are already planning our return!

This was the first time we've taken our dog away with us and we will most certainly be doing it again! The Coach House was luxurious and the generous attention to detail made all the difference. Treats and toys for the dog, a fridge full of food and drink for us, lovely toiletries as well. We loved the stay and so did our dog. The off lead walks were lovely, Central Bark was a great area for him to explore as he is never allowed off the lead, he thought doggy heaven.
Hot tub was lovely and clean. Views were spectacular.
Hosts were very friendly and went the extra mile to help us on our way home after a very cold icy snap.
We will be back!

Sometimes you just find a place you want to shout to the world about and Kernock cottages is it! Although I don’t want too many people to know so it gets too booked for us!

Damian and Louise were excellent hosts, from initial contact before booking answering my million questions to updates on local events throughout our stay.

The cleanliness of the cottage was unbelievable, quite literally pristine, all equipment such as kettle, toaster, coffee machine etc was to such a highs standard. All the furnishings were comfy, and the small touches such as the dog toys and treats and the spa standard toiletries were wonderful.

The coach house had a secure garden and even our reactive dogs didn’t once show an interest of getting over the gate. The hot tub was just the icing on the cake.

A seriously 5* stay.

Thank you!

We really enjoyed our stay at Kernock Cottages. Damian & Louise have put a lot of thought into the cottages & kept us informed at all times. It’s lovely to have the little extras - the list of condiments & kitchen equipment mean you don’t have to bring everything with you. Having the basics provided as a welcome pack enables you to enjoy the start of your stay (tea, coffee, milk, butter, bread bacon, eggs and sausages) whilst finding your way around the local area - there are some shops nearby where you can top up groceries.
Damian & Louise have thought of everything - presents for the guests ( both 2 &4 legged) postcodes to dog friendly beaches , local shops , Golitha Falls & leaflets for local take aways ( some deliver too! but we didn’t use them).
It was a lovely stay and the hot tub was warm & relaxing where we could watch the sunset. The enclosed garden meant our dog, Bonnie, was able to “share” our time in the hot tub after wearing her out in Central Bark first …what more could a dog want?
The cottage is all you could want or need and is well equipped.
Thank you for being lovely hosts and letting us share your beautiful cottage….

My husband and I and our two large dogs stayed here for 5 days in October. Idillic countryside location, breathtaking views, garden birds, owls and honey for sale. Ourselves and our dogs were made extremely welcome on arrival and the secure garden meant we could relax. Wonderfully equipped cottage including sofa throws, dog towels, treats, water bowl and new toys and the best welcome pack we have ever had. It is located within easy distance of a very dog friendly pub that is good home cooking.
We loved our stay and would love to return.

From the welcome pack for both ourselves and our dog to the information from our hosts Damian and Louise about places to visit nothing was too much trouble.
Sitting in the hot tub with a glass of fizz after a full day out, watching the sunset safe in the knowledge that our four legged friend was completely safe was so reassuring.
We cannot wait to return to this beautiful corner of Cornwall

The cottage was in a very peaceful location with a fully enclosed garden for our dogs. Set in acres of beautiful grounds meant lots of lovely walks on site for our dogs too. Inside the cottage it was just wonderful! All kitted out to a very high standard with quality items. Damien and Louise had left us a gorgeous selection of goodies but hadn't forgotten our pooches as they had treats and toys too! Both Damian and Louise were perfect hosts and could not do enough to help us. Highly recommended as a peaceful relaxing stay. Oh nearly forgot the hot tub, which added extra luxury to our fantastic stay at Kernock Cottages.

Without hesitation, I would recommend Kernock Cottages to friends and family, particularly for those with a dog (more on that later), but also for those without a furry friend! Peaceful luxury in the English countryside - what’s not to like!

My wife and I stayed in the Coach House for 10 days. We were lucky with the weather and Kernock was a great base for exploring south east and central Cornwall. Several things to note in particular:

Firstly, I have to say that the welcome from the owner and their customer service throughout our stay was exemplary. On arrival we received helpful advice to aid us settling in and getting the most out of our stay. Hints and tips for local walks and beaches were provided proactively, and there was a useful package of information in the accommodation with plenty of other ideas. We received a generous welcome pack of food essentials on arrival, which was a lovely touch. There was a doggy welcome pack and gift too! A couple of queries we had during our stay were responded to quickly and we were reminded that we were on holiday - nothing was too much trouble.

The room was very comfortable, with plenty of space for the two of us and our dog. ‘Central Bark’ was a big draw when booking (ensuring a convenient place to walk the little one), and it didn’t disappoint. So convenient to have a dedicated and safe space to walk the dog, literally on your doorstep. Great views across the countryside too.

We made use of the hot tub several times during our stay, as well as the bbq. Both are great additions to the accommodation. Can’t beat sitting in the hot tub watching the sun go down!

Location-wise, there’s plenty to do within a relatively short drive. Picturesque beaches and coves, scenic woodland walks and several National Trust properties, plus loads more. The local pub, The Weary Friar, was a short walk away and was very welcoming. Our dog was given a treat and water almost immediately each time we went in, and their Sunday lunch was excellent.

The best compliment I can give is that my wife and I don’t tend to go back to too many places, instead preferring to try new locations when we go away. However, we absolutely plan on returning to Kernock. For couples or families with a dog in tow, it’s perfect.

We're thrilled that you felt our service to be exemplary, that means a lot to us. It's great to hear that you enjoyed peaceful luxury, and 10 relaxing days in the Cornish countryside. If you don't usually go somewhere twice, it's a great compliment that you say you will be coming back. There are many places to venture to from Kernock, and your itinerary made the most of what this part of Cornwall has to offer. Thank you for your generous words.

We have just returned from a few days at The Coach House for a relaxing break. The owners go above and beyond to ensure you have an amazing stay and the dogs are thoroughly spoilt too. We ate at Louis tea rooms most of the time , the food was amazing and freshly prepared. The only issue we had was the bed as I struggle with back problems and it was too soft for me to get a decent nights sleep. We will definitely be going back but probably to a different cottage.

Right from booking Damian could not do enough to assist. Even when our plans changed slightly due to the sudden death of my dog on the day we were due to check in, Damian was so accommodating and kind, removing the dog welcome basket etc before our very late arrival in the evening.
The extra touches were exceptional from the welcome basket (bread, milk, eggs, bacon, sausages, orange juice, Prosecco, tea and coffee) to the membership cards for China Fleet. Everything we needed was provided including the bathrobes and toiletries.
The hot tub was a fantastic addition and as soon as the weather allowed Damian even mowed the lawn!
When we left Damian very kindly brought us 2 bottles of chilled water for our long journey - such touches really make a difference and are what set Kernock above the competition.
My only suggestion would have been it would be nice if the hot tub was situated 90 degrees round to allow you to enjoy the views without turning your head (very minor suggestion!!).

Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful but luxurious break where you want for nothing!
Many thanks to Damian for everything, will no doubt return.

We found Kernock Cottages after much searching for dog-friendly stays in Cornwall. The description on the website sounded perfect, and the reality was even better. Whilst absolutely perfect for dogs (fantastic welcome pack, the enclosed garden, central exercise facility etc ) there was zero compromise on the humans’ accommodation - all the luxury of a quality self catering cottage with its own private garden, hot-tub and welcome hamper. We couldn’t have asked for more for our hideaway week to rest and recharge our batteries.

But what really sets this place apart is the personal touch from the owners, Damian and Louise. From their patience and understanding before we arrived, to the arrival meeting, to the local “in the know” recommendations, and checking up on us during the hottest week of the year, we were made to feel not just welcome, but special and looked after. Honestly it was great, nothing seemed like too much trouble.

Since returning home, we have recommended this place to everyone we know and have absolutely no qualms about recommending it whole-heartedly.

Thank you, Damian and Louise. We will be back.

Our stay here was fantastic. We spent 7 nights at Kernock with our young son and dog. Damian and Louise brilliantly helpful, around if you need anything before or during your stay, without at all being intrusive. The cottage is fantastically well equipped and located for either a peaceful retreat or a hub to go and explore. The best break I’ve had in a very long time.

We stayed at The Coach House for 3 nights in early June for our mini-moon and it was everything we wanted (and more!). Damian and Louise were excellent in communicating with us prior to our stay; The Coach House was clean, cared for and equipped with everything we needed; and the whole stay was exactly what we needed after a busy few weeks and an amazing wedding! A particular thanks for being so welcoming to our dog - she loved the 'doggy treat pack' and was thoroughly spoilt!
Cannot recommend it highly enough; thank you, Damian and Louise.

We have been lucky enough to spend 10 days at Kernock Cottages…what a fabulous place to stay.
We were greeted by the owners on arrival & they explained how everything worked & gave us lots on information on places to eat & visit.
The cottage was immaculate spotlessly clean… the welcome pack was the best we have ever had containing everything you need for your first couple of days. The kitchen is really well equipped & there’s a fantastic barbecue that we made good use of.
We took our dog & the 6 acre field made life really easy with him…oh there’s also a welcome pack for the dog too!
We’d highly recommend visiting Kernock Cottages you won’t be disappointed.

We had a wonderful 5 night stay in the Coach House at Kernock Cottages. The accommodation was well equipped with everything you needed. Lovely bed linen, white fluffy towels and bath robes. A very generous welcome hamper on arrival and there were even toys and treats for the dogs. The hot tub in the enclosed garden was the perfect way to relax in the evenings. Very dog friendly with beautiful walks and a safe enclosed area to let them off lead. Lots of places to visit nearby. Damian and Louise couldn’t have been more helpful and emailed a very detailed list of information prior to arrival. Kernock Cottages and it’s grounds are so relaxing and peaceful. Really great to find a 5 star cottage that welcomes more than one dog. We will return.

We're pleased that you had such a wonderful stay in the Coach House. As you say we are happy to welcome more than one dog (up to 4 in fact), and love seeing them enjoy the ground and the secure dog area. We're glad you found the hot tub the perfect way to relax in the evenings, and we are taking action to improve the views as per your suggestion while you were here. Damian & Louise

We had a fantastic holiday here, the fact that our dog was welcomed as much as us made it that much more relaxing, and the location was superb.
Damien was a very helpful friendly host and had plenty of tips on great places to visit during our stay, and provided us and our dog Charlie with fantastic welcome gifts.
Would highly recommend to everyone :)

I cannot praise this place enough. The tranquillity, location, scenery were all amazing. I had high hopes after following Kernock Cottages for a while on Facebook, and to say we were not disappointed is an understatement. The cottage was perfect. The hosts were amazing. The welcome package for us and our dog was thoroughly appreciated. Perfect location to go out exploring Cornwall as well. We will definitely be back, to be honest we didn't want to leave! I have already recommended this place to 3 other people!

We had a fantastic stay at the Coach House. A truly dog friendly set up (unlike many others advertised as dog friendly). Doggie welcome pack, snacks, towels and toys! The on site ‘central bark’ dog exercise area was brilliant, so convenient for an ‘on the doorstep’ run around. The location of the cottage is perfect for exploring the local area, lots of walks from the cottage, quiet lanes and trail routes. The local pub (Weary Friar) is a nice pub just 10 minutes walk. We visited Goliath Falls and Seaton Beach, both about 20 minutes away. The cottage was truly luxurious, everything catered for, to a high standard and the owners Damian & Louise were very helpful in advising local walks, restaurants and generally pleasant and perfect hosts. In summary….. highly recommended.

To be honest, I really didn't want to give this review. The Coach House at Kernock Cottages was so perfect, I thought about trying to keep it all to myself! We had the best holiday I can remember having in a long time. The cottage itself was perfect. It had everything you could want, from a top end 5 star finish to a wonderful hot tub tucked away in the secure garden.

We didn't take our dog this time. We managed to convince the family we had to come and check out the facilities before booking it as a family holiday! Safe to say, we will be back, this time with all the family. I know our dog will absolutely love Central Bark.

Damian and Louise were the perfect hosts. Even though the other cottages were full, and people came and went while we were staying, they made us feel like we were their only guests. That is a rare quality. We were delighted by everything they did for us, including the fabulous welcome pack that awaited us on arrival, complete with a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge.

If I could score Kernock Cottages higher I would, but remember - this is our little secret!

Well, what a generous review. Thank you so much. We weren't sure where you were going with the opening phrase (!), but we very much appreciate your comments about our hosting and that you were made to feel special. If this was the best holiday you'd had in a long time, then we are truly delighted. We hope the report back to the family was well received and that you'll all be back with us soon - albeit in greater numbers next time.

We stayed here for our honeymoon. From the moment Damian and Louise contacted us a few weeks before our stay they where super helpful, they suggest a lovely restaurant for us to eat in and gave very detailed instructions on how to get to the property. When we arrived they greeted us at the gate then showed us around the cottage, we feel in love with the cottage as soon as we set eyes on it. It’s set in such a beautiful part of the country very amazing views, especially from the hot tub. There was a lovely welcome pack in the cottage, the cottage is so well kitted out with everything you could need for your stay. We look forward to staying here again.

We had a lovely week at the Coach House, beautiful scenery and very relaxing.
The cottage is very well equipped and we received a great welcome hamper of food and drink, even our dog had treats and a toy.
The owners Damian and Louise are the perfect hosts, their customer service was fabulous, something very rare it seems these days. We had a great time and highly recommend Kernock Cottages, we will definitely be returning.

The local pub the Weary Friar is a 15 minute walk, dog friendly, great food reasonably priced with generous portions. Very friendly staff that made us feel very welcome.

Thank you Damian and Louise, we wish you every success.

We had a fantastic short stay at the Coach House at Kernock cottages. We were warmly welcomed on our arrival by Damian and Louise, the new owners. The accommodation was immaculately clean and we had everything we could possible need during our stay. The kitchen was amazingly well equipped, so much so that we tended to cook for ourselves and just enjoy our tranquil surroundings. We hugely enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub and relished every item from our welcome pack, as did our dog from his. The grounds were beautifully kept and we were frequent users of Central Bark as our dog loved the freedom to run off lead until he tired himself out. Would love to return for a longer stay in the near future to enjoy more of the sights and the hot tub. Fidelma & Neil

Kernock Cottages totally lived up to the website description and more. Although we do not have a four legged friend, we appreciated the grounds and provision of secluded gardens and quietude of our accommodation. Thankyou for the excellent welcome pack provided in the cottage and the wonderful prospect of a soak in the hot tub after a strenuous day out walking the beautiful moors and exploring the stunning villages surrounding us. The quality of bathtowels, linens and kitchen equipment was first class. There was plenty of hot water and the heating of the cottage was very cosy.
The local folk are so friendly and within easy reach we were able to visit Kit Hill, Siblyback lake, Cheesewring at Minions, Cothele and Tamar valley garden centre at Carkeel. Damian was at hand if needed and gave us a friendly welcome. We were very sorry to leave at the end of our week but will have happy memories.

We stayed here for a week with our 2 dogs and 6 months old son. The place is extremely dog friendly, one of the best we've been to. It's a very quiet place too, so perfect to relax. The cottage was beautiful and clean with excellent facilities. It was very well equipped, especially the kitchen. The hot tub was cleaned daily. Only a 10 minute walk from the local pub which had excellent food and was also dog friendly, and with a half hour drive, you could visit any number of places! The host, Damien was extremely friendly and helpful. Any issues, he was only a text away. Welcome packs were left for us, including the dogs and the baby! These were a really lovely touch. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone.

We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing holiday in The Coach House. The accommodation was perfect, very comfortable, plenty of space for two. The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped, and it was easy to prepare meals, every detail catered for, including cleaning products, spices, foil, oil etc, plus a great welcome pack of food, and celebratory bottle of bubbly to toast the start of our holiday.
Great for guests bringing dogs, with towels, throws, toys and treats, and the piece de resistance was the secure field for dog walking. A bonus for us with two hounds who are very scent driven, we could let the, off the lead in safety.
The estate is peaceful, and the properties are spaced out, making them secluded. The hot tub was great, and a perfect way to relax after a long walk. Good food shopping within a few miles, and short drives to stunning beaches and country parks.
We definitely intend to return, and Damian the owner genuinely cares that everything is just right.

A valentines break where we could take our dog with us. Lovely location, short walk I to the village with a lovely local pub. Considering Damian had literally only taken over 2days before we arrived, he did a fantastic job which wasn't helped by the weather. We found d it relaxing, peaceful and very safe for our RR puppy....we will be going back. Xx

What can i say about Kernock cottages (the couch house).... What a beautiful place to stay. We were only lucky enough to have 3 nights here and i wish we could have stayed for longer. We walked through the door, took a deep breath and instantly felt at home. All the small touches had been thought about from the delicious treats for a fried breakfast to the treats and toy for our furry baby (dog). Both my partner and I wished we could have stayed forever. Thank you again to Beth for giving us our much needed holiday haven. We cant wait to visit again

Right from booking to the end of our stay the service we received was brilliant. So helpful when we realised we’d left our baby carrier behind, incredibly welcoming when we arrived. The cottage itself is beautiful, cosy but still spacious, the hot tub was lovely. And the welcome pack (for both us and our Labrador) was perfect. We’d love to stay again in the future.

Spacious property though kitchen a bit small but the oven is modern and easy to use. Plenty of cookbooks on hand and loads of cooking implements are available. Underfloor heating is effective in the large sitting room and the stairgate is a good idea to prevent little people and dogs from accessing the stairs. The bathroom is large, light and airy. It was handy having a small garden for our dog to snuffle around in without supervision. The 2 dogwalking fields are splendid, providing panoramic views. The extensive grounds are immaculate. The nearby hotel restaurant is ideal for lunch or an evening meal but a torch is a must if you walk there/back in the Winter darkness. Beth and Hugh are friendly and approachable. Our standoffish dog took to Beth straightaway.

Myself and my daughter came to stay at the Coach House for a 4 night break at the start of October 2021.
Due to covid, our check in time was 5pm but Beth kindly let us know we could arrive early due to the previous guests leaving earlier and the place deep cleaned already.
When we arrived we were so happy with the cottage. Beth had left us a welcome pack and also a lovely bottle of Prosecco, which was such a lovely touch. The cottage decor was to a high standard and there were lots of little decadent items to use including the Temple Spa bath creams which added an extra touch of luxury.
Beth came to say hello and check we were okay, giving us some tips on local walks etc.
There was a lot of rain during our stay but this didn't dampen our stay and we went out each day exploring Cornwall, but we're very happy to be coming back to the cottage each evening, spending most evenings in relaxing.
The hot tub was absolutely gorgeous, and so relaxing, beautiful to look out at the gorgeous view.
I really enjoyed reading the signed visitors book in the cottage and learning of past experiences of people who have stayed there, and we left our own little review in there.
Although we kept busy during our stay we both came away from the cottage totally relaxed, and would highly recommend a stay here, it is absolutely gorgeous, and would definitely stay here again if I get the chance.

Stayed at the coach house recently and really did have a perfect time, we had been really looking forward to taking our 2 dogs on holiday and we wasn’t disappointed, the cottage has everything you could wish for and Beth the owner is always on hand to ask any questions you may have without being intrusive to your holiday, we found it a great base to explore places in Cornwall, the dog park was brilliant to exercise the dogs before setting of somewhere for the day, it was lovely to see them having such a good time, I think they were both disappointed to discover we hadn’t moved there permanently! We have recommended it to friends who have booked the coach house next year and we have booked to stay in The Barn with other friends as well, really can’t wait, the dogs get a present on arrival and it was lovely to have a welcome pack for us too with Bacon, sausage eggs and milk, orange juice, tea and coffee, and a lovely bottle of wine which was really appreciated, they really do make you feel welcome and think of everything to make your stay perfect! Can’t wait to return.

The coach house is a fantastic cottage and the thoughtful little touches just made everything super special, from the doggy welcome pack to everything we needed for a wonderful breakfast. It has everything you could wish for and more and is extremely comfortable.
The garden was perfect for our dog and Central Bark is fantastic with so much for him to do and explore. The views are stunning.
Beth was super helpful and on hand to answer any questions we had about walks in the local area or anything else we needed.
We had the most wonderful time and can’t wait to head back.

We had the best 2 week stay at the Coach House. The cottage itself was pristine, well equipped and just perfect for our needs as well as being super comfortable. Beth is the most welcoming of hosts and nothing is ever too much trouble. Her knowledge of the area and advice on where we could test out our new paddle board at dog friendly locations was more than appreciated. The location is so peaceful and well kept. Central Bark was great for the dogs (sadly not so much for the rabbits they chased ), and our little Boston Terrier became rather fond of Beth.
The local pub 'The Weary Friar' offers good pub grub and very generous portions, with the staff being welcoming, warm and friendly.
We can't wait to return to Kernock Cottages at Christmas with our friends and so look forward to seeing Beth (and Hugh) again.

We had a fabulous holiday in The Coach House at Kernock Cottages. The cottage was very comfortable with a good sized private garden and hot tub. Beth and Hugh had thought of everything both in the cottage and the extensive info and recommendations on their website and nothing was too much trouble during our stay. Central Bark is a great space for dogs to run freely and the grounds and scenery were spectacular. It was so peaceful and relaxing and I would highly recommend a stay at Kernock cottages.

Booked the cottage for Christmas but unfortunately due to restrictions we had to change date so decided to go for April and celebrate our wedding anniversary instead ..it was the first week after lockdown ended....first holiday for a year...weather was lovely and the cottage just perfect.
From the time we arrived we just chilled out. Cottage has all you need and photos do not do it justice. Hot tub looking out at an amazing view is great what ever time of day you jump in....with a cuppa in the morning or glass of fizz in the evening
Dogs had secure garden to chill in and then central bark to run around like crazy trying to find the rabbits in.
The cottage is in a great location and has some lovely pubs/restaurants locally and also not far to visit other places such as Polperro, Looe, Fowey and Whitsand bay.
Definitely will be back.

A return to what has become our second home - everything was as good as always, excellent communication, good price. When we arrived there were a few covid changes - no direct in person welcome by Beth and the addition of a covid pack inside - this included wipes, gloves and hand gel in case we had forgotten any. We were also asked to strip the bed at the end of our stay. Oh and there was a lovely festive Christmas tree. Otherwise everything was as before, lovely well maintained cottage, comfortable bed, welcome pack with food and Prosecco, and a well stocked kitchen - this includes the usual kitchen tablewear, pots and pans, as well as a upgraded coffee machine this time, and supplies of herbs, condiments, dishwasher and washing machine tablets and a towel and stair gate and toy/treats/poo bags for our dog.you really only need to bring yourselves.
We made full use of the facilities including the hot tub and our dog enjoyed the exercise fields (Centre Barks) and when we weren’t on site we had some great local walks and pub lunches where our dog was welcomed.
We were fortunate to get in for our one break of the year between lockdowns and hope to return again next year. Wishing all of Kernock’s guests and Beth and Hugh a better 2021.

We had a lovely relaxing stay at The Coach House. The location is stunning with views across the valley from the hot-tub. Lots of goodies provided for arrival (bacon, eggs, milk, bread, etc) and the kitchen is very well equipped. Finn our 8 month Labrador was delighted to find a pheasant toy for him when he arrived and the on-site dog walking fields were great for him too.

Excellent accommodation had everything there you could think of for us and the dog, the fenced in field for the dogs was fantastic with our 6 month old Labrador let us relax and do some off lead training, and after that a relax in the hot tub, the owners were more than welcoming and we will go back again.

We had a lovely 5 day stay at Kernock Cottages in the Coach House. The Cottage was exceptionally clean and tidy and extremely well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The welcome pack was very generous and contained items for both us and our dog. There was also a secure garden, so we had no worries with our dog when we were in the garden or hot tub.

The customer service was outstanding. We received very informative emails prior to our stay and a very warm welcome on arrival. The owners also provided their mobile phone number, so we were able to contact them if we had any questions.

The location of the cottage is absolutely idyllic with outstanding views. There was plenty to do in the local area and the pubs were excellent and were very dog friendly.

We had a very enjoyable holiday and I am sure we will be returning in the future. We definitely would not hesitate in recommending these cottages.

What an amazing place! Set in beautiful countryside. The Coach house was extremely well equipped and extremely clean. Beth and Hugh (the owners) were very friendly and accommodating. We had a lovely welcome pack when we arrived and so to did our dog!! The doggie walks that were recommended on Kernock website were perfect! Relaxing in the hot tub after long walks was perfect too!
I would definitely recommend Kernock!!

We had the most fantastic week. The cottage was lovely and well equipped. And after a day out and about we spent every evening in the hot tub with a few drinks. The setting is stunning and we were lucky to have brilliant weather. Couldn't fault it. Would highly recommend.

Me and my husband travel fairly regularly in the UK and abroad, for both short breaks and fuller holidays.
We had cancelled a number of trips because of lock-down earlier in the year and were cautious of going anywhere that would normally be busy in either a city, town or even a village and started to look for more rural cottages and lodges.
We'd initially dismissed travelling to Cornwall - it's a 404 mile drive for us to get there but The Coach House looked so inviting, we decided to book for week (a wee bit too far for us to travel for a short break).
Before we did, we asked a couple of questions about the cottage and more specifically about what measures were being taken with regard to change over of bedding etc.
Almost immediately we got a response from Beth, one of the owners, who sent us the details of how they go about cleaning and sanitising their properties after every visit - it's a belt 'n 'braces job to say the least!
Beth called us to let us know the cottage was ready a little earlier than 5pm, although we were running late anyway.
We arrived and it was better than we could imagine - the pics on the website don't do it justice at all.
The welcome pack included, sausages, bacon, eggs, bread, milk, tea, coffee, sugar, orange juice, biscuits, butter and Prosecco!!
Ample supplies of dishwasher tablets and cleaning products as well has personal sanitizer wipes and bottle, although we did take our own.
The bed is very comfortable with top class bedding and linen.
Towels and robes are fluffy soft and white and their are some toiletries also provided.
The Kernock Estate has a few cottages on it but each is very private and the grounds are impeccably kept and very peaceful.
I have to mention this because I've told so many people about it - it seems we were one of the very privileged people to catch a rare glimpse of what is known as 'The Beast of Bodmin Moor'!!
Having researched it since then, we gather that Mary Chipperfield released an adult male and female, along with a young male puma into the area in the late 70's.
What we saw must have been a descendant and it's highly probably that there is more than one - believed to be living in a quarry not far away.
It was probably no more than 200 yards or so away from where we were sitting in the cottage garden, as it slowly walked across a paddock. Sadly we weren't quick enough to get a picture of it but my husband saw it very clearly as we had the binoculars (belonging to the cottage) on the table beside us.
We had regular trips out - Tintagel Castle, Rame Head, Lands End, Looe and the Eden Project.
The weather was lovely for most of the week and each night we enjoyed a glass of wine while sitting in the hot tub.
Absolute Bliss!
Would we go again - absolutely!!

It was very lucky that our holiday started as Lockdown restrictions eased. It was a wonderful place to stay and a perfect location after months of not being able to travel anywhere. The Coach House was like a home from home with everything you need for a great stay, plus added extras. Our dog thoroughly enjoyed running around Central Bark off the lead. I can wholeheartedly recommend staying here. Even though social distancing meant that the owner Beth couldn't welcome us herself; the welcome pack, including something nice for the dog, was a lovely gesture and a great start to the holiday. We had a wonderful week and I can highly recommend a stay. Sitting in the hot tup, admiring the view and enjoying a small glass of prosecco certainly helps to relax and unwind.

Excellent place to bring the dog - even had his own welcome package including toy which he still plays with!!
Plenty of surrounding area to walk dogs.
Cottage well specified and furnished - pleasant to hang around and eat in.
Secluded location off the beaten track.
Need car during the day to reach local attractions and coast.

Hi Lynne and Paul. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, and I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay. I'm a bit sad that you didn't find us good value... £120 a night for a 5* Gold top end property with a private hot tub and private parking is pretty competitive compared to B&B rates without the private facilities, and your 5s for customer service, condition and cleanliness suggest that you were happy with those. You are correct that you need a car really - we are 9 miles from the beach, the moors and Plymouth, and it is our quiet rural location - but with easy access to everything Cornwall has to offer - that is beloved of our regular guests. :)

Brilliant!

We stayed for 4 nights in The Coach House during half term with our dogs.

There were lots of things in the welcome pack including tea, coffee, sugar, butter, fresh bread, bacon, sausages, eggs, butter, milk, orange juice and a bottle of fizz! A really nice start to the holiday and more than we've ever had in any welcome pack. The dogs weren't forgotten either with a toy each, dog treats and poo bags! The cottage was really clean and comfortable and very welcoming for dogs with throws provided to put on the sofa if you wanted to have a cuddle in the evening! The kitchen was very well equipped with everything you could think of. Great to find a slow cooker to put a curry in while we were out walking and to come home to an evening meal cooked. The cottages are all nicely spaced out so you really feel like you have your own space. The location is great as well and we had some lovely walks in Cardinham Woods and Bodmin Moor. The hot tub was an added bonus. I would highly recommend staying here and we would definitely return.

The cottage and facilities are absolutely amazing......beautiful setting and despite storm Dennis doing his best we had an amazing stay at The Coach House. Scrumpy our Sprocker loved the Central Bark area. Beth was very welcoming and the welcome pack for us and the dog were fantastic!!! Will definitely be returning.....hopefully in better weather so we can make the most of the hot tub

What a wonderful short break. Beth was extremely accommodating with our booking, which I had to amend to 2 nights. The cottage was even better in the flesh than the wonderful pictures online. The welcome pack is an extremely nice touch to an arrival when you have had a long drive. The hot tub is an added bonus and made the stay even more enjoyable. The kitchen is more than fully equipped, caffettiere, coffee machine and even a slow cooker. The slow cooker meant we changed our plans to eat at the local pub, instead we found the local supermarket and cooked a stew. Other nice thoughtful touches, robes for the hot tub, toiletries, washing up liquid, washing detergent for the washing machine. Definitely 5 star accommodation and service.

Another stay at Kernock, where else would we stay ? Perfect location, brilliant hosting from Beth and Hugh, comfortable well equipped regular refreshed cottage , hot tub and large estate with dog walking fields - our Labrador knows her way around the estate (and the rabbit holes) and she enjoys her stay as much as the rest of us.
Amazing dark skys with a great view of the stars - not something we see in Southampton.
Well equipped cottage, underfloor heating and those things to forget are supplied - starting pack groceries, dishwasher and laundry tablets, cling film and foil etc

Great local area - friendly pubs and great walking around the Tamar valley - ideas for really good local walks are included on the website. Lovely time of year - great walk along the tamar at Gunnislake with the dramatic autumnal colours in the trees alongside the river before warming up by the fire at the white hart at Chilsworthy

Now to book our next stay

This was the first time we have been to Cornwall, we took our two dogs and the coach house was just perfect, fully enclosed garden for them and a beautiful cosy place for me and my daughter to enjoy. The 6 acre walking space was perfect for walking the dogs. Beth was very hospitable and the place was immaculate. Very peaceful and I loved Cornwall. The local pubs were really nice and friendly, will definitely be back!

Cottage located on a wonderful setting. Private and tranquil. Great location near to main artery roads. Close to Tamar Bridge and Devon. Beth is very helpful and buys into your experience and goes the extra mile to accommodate you. Cottage is beautiful with fantastic views across a valley. Grounds and garden are well maintained. Lovely jewel that is quiet and surrounded by wildlife.

Kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and lounge are well presented and worthy of a 5 star rating.

Hot tub is the icing on top.

My wife, dog and I had a wonderful stay.

We booked because we were looking for a baby friendly cottage with a hot tub. Cottage was clean and well furnished. The cot worked just with a 12 month old but was difficult lifting him in and out as it was right under the eves. An extra stair gate at the top of the stairs would have been useful rather than just at the bottom. As would some more baby feeding equipment and a harness on the high chair. It was really helpful having night light/baby monitors etc provided. Kitchen was well stocked and new, the addition of a breakfast hamper was very nice. I asked when booking if there was a view from the hot tub as this was important for me, unfortunately despite being told there was the view was of the hedge. Overall a really nice holiday, most of the things we did were around an hour away which suited us as it meant our son could nap in the car. Peaceful location. Small thing but the welcome folder could do with a update as not in keeping with the feel of the cottage.
On leaving we did feel unpleasantly hurried, check out is 10am at which time we were completely packed but still loading the car. Not an easy job with a 12 month old and no play pen, we were out by 10.20am but we were still being hurried by the owners. A small thing but it didnt leave us with the best feeling when leaving our first family holiday.

Beth replied more than 1 year ago
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, and I’m glad that in the main you enjoyed your holiday. I’m a bit surprised that you scored us so low, especially on customer service, as I saw you most days when I was cleaning your hot tub, gave you suggestions for things to do for your son’s birthday, had very pleasant exchanges with you, and you never mentioned anything was amiss. I suspect that your scores are coloured by your late departure on your final day. We totally understand that it can be more time consuming with an infant, which is why we offered you early check in on your arrival day, and we generally bend over backwards to be helpful, as attested in our mostly 5* reviews. Often, we are able to be a bit flexible on departure days, but I came to see you at 9.00 on the day of your departure to bring you some water for your journey, spoke to your husband, and politely explained that we were attending a family funeral that day, and so I had four of us coming in at the usual departure time of 10.00 to do the changeover so we could attend the funeral on time. We didn’t ask you to leave early, just to leave on time. As you hadn’t left by 10.00, I came into the garden and started emptying the hot tub and dismantling the barbecue for cleaning, as you had not cleaned it. You left at 10.30. While it may seem that half an hour overrun isn’t much, when you have four people waiting to clean, that is equivalent to 2 full man hours of cleaning time, so yes, I did come into the garden (not the cottage) and started emptying the hot tub and doing the barbecue. I apologise if you felt “unpleasantly hurried”, but otherwise we would have been left with the option of either not attending the funeral, or not having the cottage ready for the incoming guests. I’m sorry if you felt rushed, but the departure time was clearly outlined in every email exchange, and reiterated at 9.00 on that morning, when I was told that you were pretty much ready to leave. I provided new baby feeding dishes and cutlery as soon as you asked for them, and you didn’t request a harness (which we do have on site, so could easily have rectified). We get many babies staying in The Coach House, and find that the 3D tours of the cottage are very useful for assessing whether the cottage will suit your requirements, as you are able to walk around every bit of the cottage. We have never in 16 years of operating had guests have a problem before with the cot (a full-size wooden one), and have a comprehensive list of baby kit available on request, which is very clear on the Baby-friendly tab of our website. The view from the hot tub is clearly shown on the photographs on the cottage page, but again, I can only apologise if it wasn’t enough of a view for you. You may have noticed from our website that we are very dog-friendly, so we do have hedges around the perimeter of the garden, which are clearly shown in the exterior photographs. I have taken on board your comments about the information folder, and assume you are talking about the cover, which has Marvel cartoon characters on it? The contents are a paper version of the very comprehensive information on our website, but I will certainly look at getting a more sophisticated folder to house it :) Kind regards, Beth

We had a wonderful long weekend (not long enough!) at the Coach House. Although Kernock Cottages strongly advertise dog friendly we don't have a dog, just the 2 of us and I have to say you wouldn't know that dogs had been in the place it is immaculatly presented and very contemporary whilst keeping the cottage charm. If I was being really really picky the one thing it was missing was a log fire to complete its coziness. The hot tub was fab and ready to use. Kitchen wise there is everything you need if you want to self cater and all appliances are top spec. The welcome pack is smashing, we had milk, bread, bacon, eggs, mushrooms, lovely cornish butter, fresh orange juice and tea sugar and coffee. Beth the owner even gave us bottles of water for our journey home. Beth provided ideas for places to visit (Fowey and Polperro) and we were so glad we took her advice as both were lovely quaint fishing villages. We also visited Port Isaac where Doc Martin is filmed again a lovely place. We would definitely come back again.

We had a wonderful stay in The Coach House at Kernock Cottages. The attention to detail was absolutely fabulous with a whole host of treats waiting for us on arrival, both for ourselves and our dog.

Beth was incredibly kind and helpful and had the place perfectly set-up for our arrival, while also being on hand to answer questions during our stay.

Excellent location for country walks, above all we thoroughly enjoyed the relaxation and tranquility of the outdoor hot tub and made good use of it every evening.

Highly recommended.

We found the Coach House at Kernock Cottages a really nice little place on a farm that was peaceful and tranquil with a relaxing atmosphere especially when "chilling " out in the Hot tub. The location was within stricking distance of a shopping complex on the outskirts of Saltash (10min) drive. There is a lovely walk along the country lane into Pillaton where the local pub "the Wiery Friar " serves up some really good food and is dog friendly. We found the whole area to be clean and well presented very visitor friendly. Beth and Hugh are very friendly and helpful hosts. Looking forward to planning another visit. Felt so refreshed at the end of the stay. Sophie enjoyed the company of more rabbits than Watership down.

The Coach House is a lovely place to stay, just been refurbished when we'd arrived to an even higher standard than previously when we'd booked. Everything you could need in place. The kitchen has everything you'd need for preparing a simple meal to putting on a banquet for several. The welcome pack on arrival for us was very much appreciated as the last thing you want to do is go shopping for milk, bread etc. after driving 3 1/2 hrs.; even our dogs had a welcome pack of toys/blankets/treats! The hot tub was lovely and just to sit in the garden and listed to the sound of the birds was a pleasure. The Weary Fryer; a short, but dark walk down the road so make sure you have a torch, do lovely honest food and a nice pint. All in all really enjoyed our visit and will most definitely be back next year. Thanks again guys for such a lovely stay

We, 2 adults & 2 dogs, spent a week over Christmas in the Coach House at Kernock cottages. Our experience from booking, to pre arrival information, arrival, our stay and departure was excellent! The information provided regarding directions, local services and activities, equipment provided in the cottage and welcome provisions for both 2 and 4 legged guests was thorough. Beth greeted us on arrival to show us around the cottage and run through using the hot tub (bliss after a cold day walking). A Christmas tree and crackers were provided for us, the kitchen was fully equipped with every utensil you could hope for, a good amount of sugar, milk, tea and coffee, spices, oil, a breakfast pack and an espresso machine! The linen was lovely and the bath towels huge! I could go on and on about how great everything was. We would be more than happy to return and recommend Kernock cottages to others.

This was our second stay here this year.
The property was as good as before and while not looking tired it was good to hear it was going to have a refresh early next year.
We were not lucky with the weather but got out every day and tried several of the walks suggested on the owners blog. We also tried many of the recommended dog friendly pubs and cafe’s including the excellent “Springer Spaniel” and the ‘Weary Friar” a short walk up the road together with the cafe at Cotehele (who did a nice frozen doggy treat)
We made daily use of the hot tub and made full use of the welcome pack of food for us and gifts for our dog. The included towel and blanket for our dog were welcome and it was useful to have the enclosed area at centre barks that our dog remembered the way to from our previous visit. Lots of rabbit and ball chasing was enjoyed
Unusually for a property in my experience the bed was very comfortable and certainly the best I have used when away from home.
Beth was available when needed without being intrusive and a minor niggle with a cupboard door was rapidly sorted
Looking forward to our next visit

Fantastic cottage, it’s sometimes difficult finding a place that takes dogs larger than cats but big breeds welcome! Brilliant location with loads to do ( we didn’t eat out once on our own dogs were welcome everywhere!)
Amazing welcome packs one for dogs, us and baby!
Would definitely return!

The main reason I booked to stay at Kernock Cottages is because it had won the SouthWest Awards for being the Dog Friendly Business of the Year and I wanted to take my beloved rescue dogs away with me. I am very pleased to say that it was the perfect holiday for my husband and I too!

We stayed at The Coach House from 1st to 8th Sept 2018 and I can highly recommend staying in this cosy little hideaway. On arrival, we were welcomed by Beth who had kindly provided the essentials such as tea, coffee, milk, bread and some other local produce which was very welcome after our six hour journey down, particularly the bottle of Prosecco. The kitchen is adequately stocked for a self catering holiday. The dogs also had toys, treats and a bowl of water waiting for them, plus a doggie blanket so they could cuddle up with us on the sofa.

The views and surrounding area is picturesque and we spent every day walking either in the hills, the beaches or around the lakes. Evenings were so peaceful spent barbecuing and relaxing in the hot tub or popping out to the local pub with the dogs. We did meet some of the other guests but the buildings are spread out and all have private gardens so we didn't really notice them there. Our dogs absolutely loved checking out all the rabbit holes in the huge, perfectly secure dog walking fields and were in fact absolutely shattered for most of our stay!

Hugh and Beth are really lovely hosts who are available if you have any problems (we didn't), otherwise we just saw them for a friendly chat as they were going about their business or maintaining the well kept grounds. The whole place has a friendly laid back feel and I did notice the absence of a long list of rules! We are already planning our return, probably in a larger cottage so we can bring more of the family.

Perfect holiday with our 2 dogs, lovely peaceful place & Central bark is great for letting the dogs stretch their legs, Beth is lovely & helpful, her blog & website show great walks & places to go including some great pubs for food, you must try the local pub the weary friar, would definitely go again & recommend it to everyone.
Wish we'd booked for 2 weeks as didn't want to come home.

We had a wonderful relaxing week staying at Kernock cottages. Fantastic communication from Beth from the moment we booked, loads of ideas to help us plan our stay and info about the area. We arrived later than we planned and were delighted to find a wonderful array of items in our fridge and cupboards including bread, milk, eggs, sausages, bacon and even better...... a chilled bottle of Procecco! Our little Cocker spaniel had a lovely present and snacks waiting too. The Coach house itself was lovely and cosy, beautiful bathroom and high end kitchen appliances. The mezzanine bedroom was lovely but you need to watch your head on the beams in the middle of the night! It was very warm upstairs so if I was to stay in summer again I would take a fan. It was wonderful to come back for a soak in the hot tub after a busy day exploring, it was cleaned regularly during our stay. All in all a wonderful stay where the owners have thought of everything to try and make the cottages a real home from home. I would definitely recommend the cottages to anyone looking for a comfortable stay, with or without their four legged friends.

The Coach House was perfect for our one week stay in Cornwall. The garden was fully enclosed so we had peace of mind our dog was safe and secure at all times. The onsite dog walking area was great for allowing our dog to use up lots of energy without us having to worry about finding suitable, livestock-free locations for off-lead dogwalks each day. Beth was very friendly and helpful in attending to any questions we had during our stay and recommended lots of breathtakingly beautiful dog-suitable walks for us. Our dog loved the toy in his doggy welcome pack.

The Coach House had all the facilities we needed and the location was blissfully peaceful and quiet.

We spent a sunny bank holiday week in the coach house - 2 of us with a 18 month old Labrador
We had excellent communication with Beth before our stay including a phone call on the morning of the day we were due to arrive
Directions to find the cottage were accurate and we arrived to find Beth waiting who then showed us the facilities and answered any questions.
The bed was comfortable and we had a crate provided for our dog although she preferred the sofa using the blanket supplied to us
Full facilities were everything we needed and the only issue we had was the power supply to the washing machine - fixed within a day and an offer from Beth to do any washing for us in the meantime
Highlights
Central bark - lovely 2 fields with mown paths and lovely views and plenty of rabbits for our dog to stretch her legs
Excellent pub up the lane - good portions of quality pub style food where we and our dog were welcomed with no concerns about who was going to drive home
Lovely hot tub which we used almost every evening whether with a glass of prosecco from our welcome back or a cup of tea
Lovely local attractions and walks including Tamar Trails, Cothele, and other coastal walks
Will look forward to booking another trip

First off had a lovely warm welcome from owner. We are a couple who were travelling with two dogs who also received a warm welcome. Cottage is very nicely done with all you need for a great stay. Hot tub is a added bonus to sooth and relax after busy day sight seeing, walking or whatever you want to do as the location is brilliant with plenty to do within a short drive. Local pub is friendly with good food and a nice fire to relax by. Can't thank Beth enough had a lovely time and can't wait to go back.

My husband and I, along with our dog, stayed in the Coach House for one week over Christmas. From the moment of booking, we felt welcomed and were provided all the information we needed. Beth is an excellent communicator and efficiently answered my questions prior to arrival. Directions to the cottage were easy to follow. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Beth and given a brief introduction to the cottage. The cottage itself was clean and included everything we would need for our stay, including a fully equipped kitchen that allowed us to prepare a wonderful Christmas meal and save time by washing it all up in the dishwasher. After some rainy days, we also made good use of the washing machine in the kitchen (a sturdy drying rack is provided in the cottage). A welcome pack included bakery bread, eggs, bacon, sausages, tea, coffee, milk, butter, sweets, champagne and orange juice as an alternative to alcohol at my request. Our dog also had some wonderful surprises: treats, a toy and a travel water bottle, all of which he loved. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets were lovely to sleep in. The jacuzzi was simply amazing, particularly at night as it is placed under a gazebo with additional lighting. Our dog very much enjoyed running in the large, fenced in dog park, Central Bark. The cottage's location is excellent, far enough in the countryside to not hear any traffic but close enough to things to do. We visited Kit Hill, Plymouth Hoe (I highly recommend eating at The Boston Teaparty) and Whitsand Bay (perfect for dog walking along a beach). Shopping for fruit, vegetables and meat shopping can be done at a local market called Tamar View Nurseries, just 5 minutes away. They have an excellent selection of produce and had I known how good they are I would not have completed a Tesco online shop prior to arrival. We used to butchers at Tamar View Nurseries and their meat was a very good quality. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay and Beth certainly puts the customer first and provides an excellent service that is likely difficult to find elsewhere. I very much hope we will have the chance to stay again.

A lovely place to stay.

Absolutely brilliant!

Beth has been very welcoming and helpful both face to face and via email. The welcome pack went down a treat.
The Coach House has been wonderful and the views are absolutely stunning. It's lovely to have hosts on site if you need them, yet know you have your own space and privacy.

The hot tub has been a delight and the weather has also been surprisingly nice for November. Definitely recommend staying here and would love to come back here again.

There are various supermarkets and pubs within a fair distance so you are not too far away in case you need anything.

A half hour journey away from Plymouth, which Is also great for shopping trips and has stunning coastal views. There are a few lovely places to stop and have fish and chips too.

We spent a very nice holiday in this cozy cottage. There is everything you need and it is surrounded by a beautiful landscape. Unfortunately the cleanliness left something to be desired ... (floor and kitchen).
But the own small garden with its own hot tub is also a highlight and Beth and Hugh are very nice and helpful hosts!
Thank you!

Hi Ann. I'm so glad you had a lovely time and enjoyed your stay. I am SO sorry that you found the cleaning wasn't up to scratch. We did have some new cleaners who we found weren't doing a thorough job, so they have now been let go, and the new team are up to our usual high standards. Not an excuse, and I am mortified, but we have addressed the problem. :)

A lovely, peaceful cottage perfect for two (+ dog.) The owners were friendly and helpful, pointing out places of interest and especially dog friendly walks, beaches and pubs in the area. Kernock cottages is in a wonderful, peaceful spot but close to Plymouth, we had a great week and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the cottages to others. I'm sure we'll be back.

Aug 2017. We have just returned from a weeks break at Kernock Cottage having stayed in the Coach House. The Coach House is extremely charming in its character and offers lots of privacy. So impressed with how clean and tidy the cottage was. It was amazing what one little cottage could hold. The kitchen was so well equipped that we only eat out once. We had a very secure garden for our 2 dogs and despite Beth's dogs being only at the other side of the fence, Beth took time to ensure our dogs were not distressed by her dogs as he has previously been attacked by another dog and therefore does not greet other dogs well, despite the lovely gentle nature Beth's dogs had. There is an enclosed dog field which was really good to allow our dogs to have a good run off lead. Beth was so helpful from the moment we booked the cottage to the day we left, she really has a wonderful ability to be there when we needed her but so respected our privacy. So much helpful information about what to do and where to go we were spoilt for choice. The hot tub was amazing to relax in after a long day of exploring and there is a wonderful little pub down the lane, just 15 min walk. It is so refreshing to be able to stay in a cottage where dogs are not just simply tolerated but very much welcomed with hosts that really understand dogs. Hopefully, we will be returning next year.

We had wonderful week at the Coach House. It is a lovely little cottage that is very well furnished. Our party of four, which included our 1 year daughter and a Westie, found that we had more than enough room throughout our stay. The garden is beautiful with amazing views of the valley and surrounding countryside. The kitchen is very well equipped with good appliances and the BBQ is great! Our Westie loved exploring the Central Bark dog walk, both day and night. The hot tube was excellent, immaculately clean! I would recommend Kernock Cottages to anyone thinking of visiting Cornwall. We can't wait to visit again!!

Was peaceful which is what we wanted to relax , didn't find the owners very friendly . One of our dogs gotten bitten by theres as we walked in a paddock which didn't have a sign on saying no entry so assumed we were able to go in there. It s not somewhere I would go back to

Beth replied more than 1 year ago
Dear Martin I’m glad you enjoyed the peace and quiet at Kernock. We certainly didn’t mean to be unfriendly, and if you read the more than 200 other verified reviews of Kernock on UpfrontReviews then you’ll see that most of them comment on how friendly we are. When you arrived, I spent about half an hour showing you around. During this time, I also told you that our youngest dog had been bitten last summer by a guest dog, since when she has been very nervous of other dogs, and for that reason we had fenced our garden (previously our Facebook pages were full of her playing with many of the guest dogs we get visiting the cottages every year). It is very clear that, as our house is adjacent to the cottage you were in, the fenced area is our garden. We have quite a number of paddocks on site, and I told you which ones were fine for off-lead dogs, including “Central Bark”, our purpose-build dog walking field with mown paths, poo bins, etc. I make no great claims to rival Gertude Jekyll in the garden design stakes, but most assuredly, our garden does not look remotely like a paddock. If you did think it was a paddock, then I should advise you that in the country, it is also somewhat foolhardy to enter a “paddock” or a field where you do not have a clear line of sight (which you do not at the point of the gate where you came into the garden), with your dogs off the lead. Had the “paddock” been full of young bullocks, for example, it could result in a nasty accident. You came into our garden with your dogs off the lead (despite our doggy rules requesting dogs are kept on the lead around the site), and they rushed at our dog barking, which was why I asked you to leave. This wasn’t remotely being rude. I was concerned because your dogs are small, and ours is large, and from our dog’s perspective, they were coming at her on her own territory, so the most sensible thing to do was to ask you to leave our garden. They did have a bit of a Mexican standoff, and were all barking at each other, but she certainly did not bite your dog, so please do not make more of it than it is. We work very hard to provide a welcoming and peaceful space for our guests, and their dogs, which is appreciated by the great majority of our guests, and evidenced by the awards that we win. I am truly sorry if you mistook concern for the safety of your dogs and ours for unfriendliness. Our primary concern is always for the well-being of our guests, of their dogs, and of our own, and you did not mention any concerns subsequently, despite the fact that I saw you daily post this event, when I was maintaining your hot tub. Kind regards, Beth

The was an excellent cottage chosen for its location in this overlooked part of East Cornwall. On arrival we were greeted by the owner who introduced us to the cottage. A very welcome pack had been provided.

Furnishings were up to date and décor modern. We were particularly pleased with the spacious bathroom complete with large fluffy towels and bath robes. The shower was large and produced the right temperature by adjusting the simple control taps.

The up to date TV was suitably placed and easy to operate after discovering something called "Energy Saver" ( its an age thing! ).

The Kitchen had all the right things although we would by preference have preferred a separate micro wave rather then an integral oven / micro wave unit. Good to have a dish washer.

The mezzanine floor was light and airy and the bed comfortable allowing for a good nights sleep.

An excellent cottage, the only down side being the wet weather which did not allow us to fully enjoy the surrounding gardens and wildlife.

Booked for 3 nights for a birthday celebration and having stayed in premier cottages before knew they are of a certain standard.
We arrived a night & followed the directions we were given which worked well. It is very dark when you arrive in January so take a good light. The owner had left the lights on outside which helped.
We stayed in the coach house that had the wow factor when we walked in the big door. We received a welcome pack with local produce which was lovely.
The cottage was well equipped and dog friendly and even a toy & poo bags provided and doggie towels and sofa protector.
It was great to have our own fenced in garden with hot tub (which we used daily) and fenced in garden but also being in a large private estate with excellent dog walks on site. The silence & views were amazing and as in Cornwall nowhere is too far to get to.
There is a good comprehensive information folder and we enjoyed an excellent meal at the springer spaniel.
The kitchen was well equipped and although bijou had everything you could need except for a microwave.
The heating was great too not too hot or too cold. The bed was ok although not as comfortable as we are used to.
We did have a few issues with the technology and were without wifi for some of our stay although Beth managed to get someone in to resolve the issue and then our TV wouldn't work for the last night so we ended up watching a programme we wanted to see on our mobile phone! Apparently they had had issues with a few TVs .
That said we really enjoyed our break and the location and would recommend this place and return again.

Hi Issy. Thank you for reviewing the Coach House. Sorry about the internet and TV problems... the cottage was a bit of a technology Bermuda Triangle when you were here, wasn't it! Luckily our WiFi man was able to come out on Sunday morning to fix the internet. The TV was a brand new one, and the problem was apparently with the link to the aerial went down - the chap came out today and has installed a dedicated aerial to the Coach House, which has resolved the issue. For next time, there actually is a microwave in the Coach House - the Neff oven is one of those clever ones that does both fan oven and microwaves as well, which works brilliantly in a kitchen where space is at a premium. Sorry you didn't find the instructions in the drawer below the oven. I'm glad you both enjoyed your stay, and we look forward to seeing you again in the future :) Kind regards Beth

New Year break away.

We booked the Coach House for a quiet relaxing break. We wanted 5 star dog friendly accommodation which is not always easy to find but we definitely found it here. We arrived a bit earlier than scheduled but it was fine as the Coach House was ready. Beth personally greeted us and even made time for our dog. Beth was very friendly and made us feel welcome and comfortable. The Coach House itself was lovely, nicely decorated with good quality fixtures and fittings. The kitchen is superbly kitted out which we appreciated as we like to cook. The hot tub is situated in a quaint private garden with stunning views. Best of all is the doggy play area which we used frequently during our stay and is a fantastic touch. The food welcome pack is very useful and our dog loved his goodie pack and adores his new toy reindeer!

The coach house was a lovely cottage with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Exceedingly dog friendly and the enclosed garden meant we could relax while the terrier played! Hugh and Beth couldnt be more helpful and provide so much information to make visiting the area easy.

We spent 9 nights at the coach house on our mini moon, weather left a lot to be desired but the coach house was very clean and polished, friendly and prompt service, hot tub broke twice and they had it fixed quicky so only 2 days without it. Beautiful views lovely and quiet excellent condition of amenities brand new bbq all top of the range. Dog friendly we got a hamper and a bottle of champagne and the dogs got lots of lovely treats and toys. They really have thought of everything to ensure your stay is all that you want it to be. Good time had by all.

We had a wonderful stay at the Coach House. We had a very warm welcome and found Beth and Hugh extremely friendly and helpful. The cottages was beautifully furnished, well-equipped and our 16-month old son was very well accommodated for. The location was perfect; we had unspoilt views of rolling hills from our garden, and yet it was conveniently close to amenities and lots of attractions. All in all a wonderfully relaxing, very memorable break- I would confidently recommend.

We had the most wonderful time. Hugh and Beth were the perfect hosts and not only included their usual luxury food pack of local produce, but also a much enjoyed bottle of Champagne to help us celebrate!
The cottage met all expectations from location to cleanliness and comfort, there was nothing missing, not even the sun!
There was also more than enough information on 'things to do' in and around the area.
Wi-if was excellent as was the phone signal.
The views from the hot tub were beautiful .......... what a wonderful way to relax after a day out and about.
Although there were other families at Kernock, our privacy was well maintained within our little garden. The way in which they have set out each individual property allows for space and privacy in all properties.
It was a wonderful holiday, thank you Hugh and Beth.

We had a very enjoyable weeks holiday staying in the Coach House. Booking was easy and the cottage was just as described on the web site. We were welcomed by Beth who explained how everything worked. The cottage was spotless very well presented with great views. The Hot tub was maintained very well (we have one at home so know how important it is) and is great after all the walking we did. The Cottage has a private garden with a hedge and gate which helped keep our two Westies Ronnie and Reggie in which was great as they were always chasing the numerous Rabbits that were about. We can thoroughly recommend the cottages and the quiet location they are set in, we will definitely return.

The Coach House is in a great location for exploring both Cornwall and Devon. The surrounding area is beautiful and you are near to the coast and inland areas including Dartmoor. The cottages are beautifully decorated and well appointed with everything you could need. There are great views and plenty of grounds to explore. The host Beth was really friendly and available without being overbearing. There was lots of information provided for things to do in the area. The best thing for us was how dog friendly it was - even getting treats and toys on arrival. The Coach House has its own enclosed garden which is ideal for the dogs. The hot tub was a bonus!

We have just come back from another wonderful stay at this lovely cottage. The last time we stopped was March, but June was absolutely perfect, the weather was lovely, long hot days and warm evenings, made it so enjoyable to go out and about, then come back, have a walk up the lane to look at the beautiful gardens then back to spend a little time bubbling in the hot tub, before just sitting and watching the sun go down in the valley. Leading to amazing stars coming out. The piece and quiet makes the place so relaxing.
The place is lovely and clean, everything you need and more in the way of kitchen utensils to make eating in easy. Welcome food pack is great as we travelled quite away.
Dogs are very welcome with a doggy pack, our Dog Alfie just loves it here.
Would recommend this Cottage to anyone, who wants a lovely place to escape.

The Coach House had everything and more one needs for a great holiday. 5* luxury.

We stayed in the coach house for a week with our 6 month old. It was beautiful. The views are stunning out from the hot tub

It made all the difference for space in our car that various baby items including the cot and steriliser were supplied for us

We ate at the local pub the weary friar a few times and the food was lovely albeit the cottage is well equipped to eat at home too.

Highly recommend

Had a lovely stay in the Coach House. We didn't have a car but there are walks from the door, and a pub about 10-15 mins walk which serves food, and that was all we needed! The welcome pack with sausages, bacon, eggs, milk and bread was a lovely touch. Special mention for the wonderful shower (I didn't want to get out) and the cosy bathrobes. I really can't think of anything that could be improved on!

Lovely cottage, had a lovely weekend at Kernock. Hot tub was amazing. Only fault was the hard bed and would of preferred a gate on the property as owners dogs kept coming into the garden and our dog is not good with other dogs but apart from that would recommend.

Beth replied more than 1 year ago
Hi Paula. I'm glad you enjoyed your weekend at Kernock. Sorry you didn't find the bed comfortable - most people say how comfy it is, but I'm aware that some people prefer soft beds and some hard, so it is difficult to get one that will suit everybody. We are aware of the fact that Biba and Bou (our dogs) come to visit the Coach House - unforfortunately many guests find them irresistible and encourage them to visit, which is a problem if the next guests don't like dogs, or have a dog that is a bit timid, so we are planning to put a gate on, and make the hedge more secure for small dogs, so it will be completely enclosed soon.

Enjoyed our stay at Kernock Cottages - the hot tub was bliss - for us as owners of a small dog the only improvement would have been a fully fenced in garden. He could smell the rabbits!

So glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. The hot tub is certainly proving very popular! We are planning on fully fencing the Coach House garden and putting in a gate over the winter, which should solve the problem (not that we're short of rabbits!! :))

The Coach House is equipped and furnished to a very high standard, and is ideal for a couple (whether they are on their own, or as in our case, part of a larger group staying at another cottage). Like all the cottages, it is situated in a large and attractive site, and there is no feeling of being overlooked by other properties. The site is tucked away in the countryside, and has a air of tranquillity.

For children, there is an outdoor play area, and the proprieter was very generous and helpful in lending buckets, spades fishing nets etc for visits to the beach. There is no swimming pool on site (though each cottage has a hot tub); but the cottages have access to a splendid pool at a local leisure facility on a pay-as-you-go basis. This involves a short car journey, so is not suitable for a quick dip, but makes a very enjoyable half day excursion, particularly on a rainy day. However, the relaxed and welcoming feel of Kernock is best illustrated by saying that for our children, the highlight of each day was spending time with the proprieter's two large and friendly dogs!

Arrived at one o clock which was three hours earlier than arrival time, We were greeted by Beth who advised cottage was ready all but the welcome pack & the hot tub which needed the Ph tested, Which obviously was no problem as we had arrived early, Beth gave us a run down of the cottage and advised us of the local pub up the lane and where everything was and that they were only next door if needed her or Hugh for anything,
The cottage was spotless basically home from everything you could possibly think of was there, Lovely touches like the bath robes, We unpacked and located the Weiry friar pub which was very welcoming and cosy, On our return Beth was bringing the welcome pack which included fresh bread, bacon, sausage and eggs, Already in the cottage was a supply of Tea bags, Coffee, sugar, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, washing machine liquid tablets, dishcloths, sponges etc...
The location is very peaceful and relaxing, The cottage was first class and the hot tub made it a very relaxing way to spend your evening.

Lived in the hot tub! - This being the main feature that prompted my booking.
As we only stayed for the weekend we didn't go to far, so didn't see that much of Cornwall.
Went to the Springer Spaniel Pub and was disappointed.
2 terrier dogs made to feel very welcome and even better they didn't make themselves unwelcome!.
I would suggest that some modernisation could be made to the interior to give that up-to-date luxury feeling (mostly sitting room). Would stay again and next time for longer!

Fabulous accommodation for a romantic short break, really felt like we got away from it all. Perfect for a couple. Loved the hot tub (we were initially disappointed that the gazebo hadn't been fitted but on a clear night being able to see the moon and the stars was stunning). Very well equipped, character-packed accommodation. The only negative I can think of is that a larger warmer sofa would've been lovely to be able to snuggle up on rather than a fairly small leather sofa.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I'm delighted you enjoyed your holiday, and the brand new hot tub. You'll be glad to hear that all 5 gazebos are now up over the hot tubs! As we had 5 hot tubs put in, and had to put gazebos up for all of them, it has taken a few weeks to get them all sorted, but they are now all in place (and you can still see the stars down the valley!).

Lovely relaxing stay.

We had a lovely stay with our dog in the Coach house cottage, for a week in March.
From the moment of booking everything went through smoothly. The owners have done a lot of work, to keep people informed of places of interest with an online Pinboard, this we found a great help. There is also information in the cottages.
We were greeted at the property by Beth, very friendly, and approachable.
Very impressed with the welcome food pack which helped as we arrived late on. Also our dog loved the doggy welcome pack, with a toy n treats.
The property was lovely and clean, always nice and warm. and although the owners allow dogs there are no traces or smells that dogs have been there before. Toiletries and bathrobes are a nice touch
The Kitchen had everything you needed and extras .
Internet access was good had no problems at all.
The newly installed hot tubs are amazing, sat in the bubbles, over looking the valley, or in the evening star watching. lovely and relaxing after a days walking.
The grounds are lovely, childrens, area with climbing frame n swings which looked well looked after, Rabbits and Squirrels running around, which is nice to see, especially for children.
So many places and lovely clean beaches close by to visit.
Dogs are welcome at loads of cafes and bars, which is great.

We stayed for 3 nights at Kernock Cottages. We had excellent instructions from the owners on how to find them and were met by a very friendly and helpful owner. The location was great for what we wanted which was peace and quiet, yet easy to access to local shops and country pubs.It was difficult at times to get a good mobile phone reception in the cottage though.
The cottage itself was excellent, extremely well equipped and the bed was so comfortable we didn't want to get up! We were provided with some lovely eggs, sausage and bacon on arrival plus the usual tea and coffee which was a plus. The hot water was plentiful with a great power shower and lovely extras from the White Company which made our stay even nicer. I would not hesitate to recommend the Coach house to a couple to relax and enjoy, and you could not wish for a nicer owner who was always on hand yet not at all intrusive.

Late booking for Kernock Cottages through their website for the the beginning of the October half-term break. Booking process was seamless and the owners made us very welcome when we arrived. Very pretty setting, off of a leafy lane. The conversion to a holiday let for the Coach House has been done very well. The property deserves its 5* Gold rating by Visit Britain, as you couldn't want for anything extra. Within striking distance of some great places to visit in North Cornwall and Devon. We had a smashing time, so thank you for your hospitality.

I'm glad you enjoyed your escape - it's a great time of year to visit, as you get all the beaches and walks to yourself! I hope you enjoyed your spa day on Sunday.

The cottage was perfect for our 2 nights down in Cornwall. Beth put milk, sausages, bacon, eggs and bread in the fridge which started the weekend nicely. Access to China Fleet was an added bonus, a spa session on the Sunday morning finished off the stay!

Great stay, wished we could of stayed longer.

Myself and my partner stayed here for three nights and all in all it was excellent. The Coach House was furnished to a high standard and the setting was lovely, each morning upon awakening you're met with a beautiful view and the peace and quiet of the Cornish countryside. What more could you want? Beth recommended The Springer Spaniel pub in Treburley for some fine dining and that made our stay complete. 5 stars all round!

I'm so glad you had a lovely stay. We had lunch this Sunday at the Springer Spaniel for our wedding anniversary and the food was fab (now having to adjust my waistband!) x

The cottage is in a lovely location. It was very peaceful and comfortable and had everything we wanted. We found it to be a great base for exploring both Devon and Cornwall.

We loved our stay in the Coach House in Pillaton. We felt we were really on holiday and could forget the rat race in normal life. The free view over the hills is wonderful. We made beautiful walks in the neighbourhoodand and in Dartmoor. We have visited the castle in St. German and have driven to Lands End. We have eaten in the local pub The Weary Friar. Very fine.
Inside the Coach House everything was available. Even for our 6 months old son.

Great location
Great accommodation
Great hosts

Nothing seems to be too much trouble.

We have stayed at Kernock 4 times I don't think that anything more needs to be added.
