The elegant interiors make use of one-of-a-kind materials, giving the space both character and undeniable charm. Enjoy an evening together by the fire before retiring to your cosy bedroom, or savour a morning coffee in the front terrace, surrounded by the soothing sound of flowing water. South Cerney is a picturesque village set beside the River Churn. With peaceful riverside scenery and easy access to the surrounding Cotswold Water Park, South Cerney is the perfect base for walking and exploring. Just a few miles away, Cirencester offers a wider selection of shops, attractions and cultural experiences in the ‘Capital of the Cotswolds’.

Relaxing and peaceful stay here in the village of South Cerney that seems to have everything that you need - pubs (although these are all a bit hit or miss), great little coffee shop, fish & chip shop, Chinese takeaway and so on.

The property itself is great, clean and well equipped and we loved the reclaimed feel to everything.
If we had a couple of comments to make, the 'lounge' area seating is remarkably uncomfortable to spend any time sat in and compared to almost every other property that we have stayed in of this nature and at this price point, there was a lack of a welcome basket of goodies (first world problem I know!), but it's the little things that make a lot of difference when you are choosing this kind of property to visit as we often do.

It was warm and there were some fun touches which I willnot spoil for future visitors here. I'm sure we would happily return in the future if looking to stay in the area again.

We had the most perfect stay at Filly Island. It’s such a beautiful and special place. Peaceful, private and the perfect little escape from everyday life. The setting is absolutely stunning and it really does feel like you’re tucked away in your own little world.

Everything was just as we’d hoped and it was the ideal place for a romantic break, to completely switch off, relax and enjoy some quality time together. We genuinely didn’t want to leave!

A really memorable stay and somewhere we’d absolutely love to return to. Couldn’t recommend it enough.

Ideal location for a break 2 pubs & a cafe within walking distance. Lovely area to explore, Cirencester is a lovely town with an excellent museum.

Nice sized place and all as described and well equipped for what needed.
It’s more overlooked by surrounding properties than it suggests on the photos and we had to do some extra cleaning on the bathroom around the shower screen.

We spent just under a week at Filly Island in one of the hottest weeks of 2026. It was idyllic. The village has a lot to offer within walking distance and just a short drive away in are attractions like Kemble airfield, Cirencester and Fairford. Really lovely, we'll be back next year.

I can also thoroughly recommendation Bolthole Retreats for their Customer Service. They have been excellent.

Very picturesque, quiet and unique place to stay. Personal touches were everywhere and it felt very homely. The bed was the comfiest I've experienced in an accommodation in a long time, slept really well! The shower, hot water, appliances everything worked as they should and didn't have to worry about any of it. Would stay there again and would recommend!
