This delightful three-storey Cotswold stone cottage sits on a hillside in Rodborough, on the edge of Stroud, overlooking Selsley common. Beautifully decorated and in keeping with the period of the house with original features on show, Rose Cottage is the perfect choice for a picturesque Cotswold stay. A wood burning stove in the open-plan living/dining area creates a cosy atmosphere and warms your toes after country walks. The traditional kitchen, three bedrooms spread across the first and second floor, and family bathroom complete this country cottage in a fabulous location.

My siblings and I had a lovely weekend in Rose Cottage on our annual get together. It's super clean and has some of the most comfortable beds we have slept in. The cottage is very tastefully furnished and well appointed with everything you need. The log burner (and basket of logs -thanks) made it all very cosy too. There is ample parking below the cottage or on the main road. Highlights nearby were the Saturday Market in Stroud (foodie heaven) and food at the nearby Old Fleece pub was exceptionally good. The church that is adjacent to the cottage is well worth a visit too. Great spot and we all thoroughly recommend it. Thanks!

Could have been a lovely stay but must reiterate previous reviews regarding cleanliness, it needs improving.

Main issue though is the prevalent damp in the property - do not stay here if you suffer with respiratory issues. Most unfortunate that both the owners and bolthole retreats have seen fit to omit this glaring issue from the property description - despite being well aware of it.

Attempts to engage privately about this issue have been fruitless.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your recent stay at Rose Cottage. We are very disappointed to read the points that you have raised. We have spoken to the owner who is aware of the damp problem and they have put dehumidifiers into the cottage. They are doing their best to counter this whilst being mindful that the nature of this old property is to suffer from damp conditions. The dehumidifiers in use are top of the range and work to improve moisture levels as well as acting as air purifiers.

The cottage is beautiful they even left a gift for our doggy! The garden is at the front of the property with beautiful views and a lovely church behind.
Unfortunately the garden is not dog friendly, there is a 6 foot drop to the pavement below with no high wall. The dog can also enter the graveyard which meant she could go for other dogs passing, it was difficult to have kept her on the lead the whole stay. We also had 2 toddlers and the garden wall is very unsafe for them. Not the owners fault I should have thought to check. Lovely garden to sit in and a super Webber BBQ to use. Cottage has everything you could possibly need.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your recent stay at Rose Cottage. We are very glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay, however disappointed to read the points that you have raised. On our website listing we state in our full description under the outside section "Well-maintained hedging and gravelled front area complete the garden which is surrounded by a low perimeter wall". Also under the points of note, "There is a low perimeter wall to the front of the cottage with a high drop beyond, dogs and children must be supervised at all times and not left unattended".

Exceeded our expectations.

Exceeded our expectations. Rose Cottage was just a home away from home. Loved the added touches like the old style radios and the Denby pottery. Everything was pristine. The beds were so comfy and the kitchen had everything you could wish for. Even had baby bowls, beakers and cutlery plus the boxes of lego went down a treat. We loved coming home every evening. Thank you to Ruth for the welcome basket and milk in the fridge...that was just the icing on the cake. Had a wonderful 7 Days and would give 10 stars if possible. Thank you all again .

This is without doubt one of the nicest cottages we have ever stayed in. Plenty of room for 6 adults and our dog. Particularly impressed with how well equipped it was. Great pub, The Prince Albert, just up road and Stroud is just a 20 minute walk away and well worth a visit. Rose Cottage is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated and furnished. Not a single thing to criticise and I am sure we will be back one day.

We were really delighted with our choice of cottage for a family reunion nearby

We stayed for a couple of nights over the Easter holidays with two children (12&11) and had a wonderful time. The cottage is very pretty with a lovely little outside space. If the weather was a little warmer it would have been the perfect spot for a BBQ (provided) with a stunning view over the valley. The church sits just behind the cottage which makes for a a stunning backdrop.

Inside the cottage is very clean and freshly decorated. The kitchen is extremely well equipped (even has a cake stand!!) which made things so much easier.

There is a lovely wood burning stove which would have been a treat to enjoy on colder days.

The common is very close and offers a great place to walk with beautiful views. We did a bit of kayaking while we stayed which was great fun.

All in all a wonderful trip :)

Set in the quaint area of Rodborough, this is the most idyllic cottage. From the moment you step inside the front door you can feel the warmth of love and attention that has gone into making this the most comfortable stay you could wish for. Rose cottage is finished to the highest standard. All modern fixtures and fittings that are in-keeping with the look and period of the place. The cleanliness is exceptional. I had the most peaceful sleep in the most comfortable bed. What was an added bonus was waking up to the sound of wildlife. I would recommend staying here and I would return in a heartbeat, given the chance I would move in. :) Thank you Rose cottage for an amazing stay.

A lovely cottage well located between Stroud and Rodborough Common. Would certainly recommend it for a Cotswold break with lovely views.

Lovely cottage but not big enough for six adults, cleaning needs to be improved

Lovely cottage but as a group of five adults we found the lounge area too small for us. Four adults would be maximum. The postcode was wrong on the directions, so we were taken to the wrong place before we realised which was annoying. I did email to report this but did not receive a reply. I also emailed the housekeeping email we were given but this was incorrect and bounced.
We were very disappointed with the state of the utensils in the kitchen. There was a baking tray in the oven which was swimming with oil. We had to wash all the crockery and cutlery before we used them, they all had a greasy film on it. All the utensils really need a good clean. Again I did email bolthole retreats about this when we arrived but have not received a reply. As we were charged £100 cleaning fee we would not expect to have to wash the dishes before we could eat. Also, the info sent said there would be enough wood for the first fire, two logs and a bit were left. This seemed a bit mean as they didn’t last very long. We enjoyed elaborating new year with family but we were disappointed with the cottage and with communication.
