The Badminton Estate's extraordinary and unique hunting lodge lies on the edge of the Beaufort family's historic estate. This wonderful, architectural folly was built in the early 1700s from local Cotswold stone, incorporating gables, distinctive roof castellations and pepper pots. Swangrove House rises over three floors, connected by an original, dark oak staircase with two reception rooms - one a breathtakingly beautiful drawing room - and two sumptuous bedrooms with distinctive beds. At the top of the house sits the belvedere, with a superbly commanding view of the Badminton Estate and countryside beyond. The house's 300-year-old history is perfectly complemented by a contemporary kitchen and bathrooms. A pretty garden with a lawn and clipped hedges sits to the front while parking for up to four cars is at the rear on a sweeping gravel drive.

** Please note that there is tree surgery work taking place in the woods behind Swangrove until March 2024. The work will take place Monday to Friday during normal working hours **

We had a brilliant Christmas stay at Swangrove House. The property and surrounding grounds are truly magnificent, and the beautifully decorated Christmas tree awaiting our arrival made for a magical welcome! The main drawing room is very grand indeed, with soaring ceiling and abundant period windows and features, an effort for pictures to do it justice really. We loved reading in front of the large fireplaces while the winds howled outside (there are large open hearth fireplaces on two floors). The beds were plush and comfortable, dressed in crisp white linens. The kitchen had everything we needed to prep holiday meals, including a large full size fridge/freezer(bonus!) Waitrose and country pubs just a short drive away. Lovely walks in all directions. Just as described and pictured on the site. Management team were lovely and quick to respond. We would definitely stay again. Thank you Bolthole and Badminton Estate for a lovely stay!

p.s. Mind there are alot of steps inside (some rather steep) if this might pose an issue for your group.

Amazing property to stay at. The open fires were great on the wettest windiest days. Would happily stay here again given it's such a perfect place to explore the Cotswolds from.

Second visit and hoping to book our third!

This was a really special experience. Location and estate are stunning.
Great kitchen -which we hardly used- , very comfortable beds. Interior design outstanding though a bit used.
The whole family loved it

We spent five days in Swangrove House ( four adults). The house is so special, very spacious and extremely comfortable, ( the beds and pillows excellent quality) and the views wonderful. It is secluded, with an enclosed garden, but not remote. There are many delightful villages in the vicinity, the situation is very convenient for exploring the Cotswolds.
The weather was freezing cold, snow on the ground for the whole duration of our stay,, so truly a winter wonderland. The Christmas decorations, tree lights etc, in the area were so pretty, we all really appreciated being here in unusually cold weather, as the snow and sunsets were almost other worldly.
The house’s drawing room is a delight We lit fires in the dining area and drawing room every night, so it was very cosy inside. Thanks to the lovely gentleman who arranged for us to have additional logs from the estate.
The house is very well equipped, the kitchen has all the utensils you could possibly need, a large fridge and double oven. There are so many special touches with the decor, it seems more like a friend’s house than a holiday rental. The plates too are special.
We have rebooked for the summer.
Can thoroughly recommend Swangrove House.
