A beautiful Georgian house in rural Wiltshire, boasting extensive gardens, fantastic location and breathtaking walks in every direction. The Grade 11 listed property is situated in West Kennett, within the Avebury World Heritage Site of ancient standing stones. With stunning walks from the door and Marlborough’s restaurants and independent shops close by, it’s an exceptional family escape. Further afield are Stone Henge, Longleat Safari Park and Bath.

The house is very spacious with a well stocked kitchen and an amazing garden. We really enjoyed the location and the ease of walking right from the bottom of the garden.
However, it is in need of some TLC. The rooms were very dusty, there were lots of insects on the inside of windows, door handles missing off furniture, peeling paint and masking tape holding together a headboard as examples. The basement room where the large table is was too musky to want to use.

My husband grew up in this part of Wiltshire and we were looking for a place where the four of us could spread out as we visited with family in the region.

The instructions were clear and the house everything we expected from the photos.

We bought some supplies in the Waitrose and Tesco nearby in Marlborough. The house had everything we needed to prepare breakfast and dinner.

On arrival, we found the host had set out some fresh flowers and some treats (wine, cookies, and chocolates) which was a nice touch.

The bathrooms were clean and we found the beds to be comfortable and we all slept great.

We took advantage of the washer and dryer during our stay which helped us reduce the amount of luggage for our trip.

Because of the weather we didn’t get to fully enjoy the garden but for anyone that wants to walk in the downs, this house is in a great location.

The house is an authentic 18th century manor house set just off A4 (road not an issue) with an enormous garden and access to country walks including Long Barrow and Avebury henge. It is full of character and charm. The housekeeper was very accommodating, check in is easy and the welcome package most generous. My family had a wonderful time.

For a house this size we found the kitchen poorly stocked. A second chopping board was only discovered late in our stay- we were a party of nine cooking seriously . No vegetable peeler to be had , no large ladles. Bins had not been emptied on arrival so we have had to leave our rubbish on top.
Pillows very poor quality. Shower in main bedroom poor pressure. Other shower in shared bathroom quickly overflows if one is in the shower for more than 2 minutes.
Otherwise we so enjoyed the garden and walks. Also to warn garden is not dog proof- ours escaped in to neighbouring field.

The garden is described as enclosed rather than completely dog-proof, but we appreciate the additional warning may be helpful for guests bringing dogs. See above - plus some areas need renovation / attention (e.g. vinyl floor in shared bathroom fitted extremely badly and sink coming off the wall)
