Visited Dunoon and bay cottage with my dog and this was the perfect base for the week and exactly as described. Easy walk to front or into town.
Not recommended for elderly. No parking nearby car left in street. Not good for people with mobility

We were not informed that this house house was up a long cobbled lane As we are elderly we found it difficult to transport our luggage and food. In the property there were no cleaning materials at all just a sponge for dishes etc. Due to Covid pandemic this was awful. No welcome pack not even milk for tea as we travelled good bit. For money charged this was ridiculous not worth the money we have been to many houses over years this was well overpriced. We left a day early

We are very disappointed and surprised to read your review, especially when there was no contact from yourselves during your stay. It does state in the listing the cottage is accessed by a path from the street, and there is street parking at the front entrance. We appreciate all guest feedback, we have added to the listing it is a 20 metre path. We are sorry you found this difficult and it impacted the arrival of your stay. With regards to your concerns of the cleaning products, the owners of the cottage are extremely hands on and would have been more than happy to assist you with any concerns you had, contact details were in your arrival instructions. The cottage is sanitised to a high standard and use of cleaning products are used that are effective against Covid. Linens, towels and laundry are washed in accordance with local authority guidelines, and the accommodation is disinfected between stays. It is very disheartening to read your damaging review. We certainly do not agree with your low scoring review. This cottage receives extremely good reviews averaging 4.9/5 Star overall, most are 5 Star reviews since Bay Cottage opened. We also disagree with the value for money, we strongly believe less than £110 per night for a two bedroom cottage in the peak of summer is very good value for money, even without having any milk for your tea.
Falls short of the basics

Parking not easy to access cottage and a long difficult path to carry luggage etc to the property. Furniture was very limited in that nowhere to put clothes when going to bed (ie no chair to lie anything on). Bed was extremely creaky. Only one toilet roll in property. No welcome pack (something we would have expected when paying such a high rental). Shortfall in cutlery and needed more in the way of coasters to place drinks on in the different rooms. No instructions to use the jaccuzzi bath. Cold underfoot - could do with rugs especially in the bedroom. We stay in rental properties every year and this is the dearest and least welcoming as regards facilities and equipment that we have come across.

A very good quiet location and nice sunny garden to sit in on our return from exploring. A garden table would be a good addition to the garden furniture.

We had such a lovely stay at bay cottage, we are a family of 4 and the space was perfect for us.
The cottage was clean and clearly well looked after!
Our girls 4 & 1 absolutely loved the bath & our 4 year old totally obsessed with the bunk beds!
And the fairy lit path up from the car was super cute in the dark!
Thank you so much for letting us stay!

A comfortable, quiet and clean cottage with great dog friendly garden. Great shower, comfy bed, nice kitchen diner. Car parking ok - had to park up the kerb and walk short distance to cottage. Nice walk into town along the prom.
Good cottage, good service and we would definitely recommend

This well equipped cottage provided a good base for exploring Argyll and Bute. The cottage is prettily decorated. TV, WiFi and kitchen equipment worked well and were easy to use.
The lounge furniture was comfortable. Bedroom had good amount of storage for clothes and comfort wise the bed was fine for a week.
The cottage is dog friendly with an enclosed garden. There are dogs living next door who enjoyed welcoming us back to the cottage. Not unreasonably the dog cannot be left unsupervised at the property or allowed on the furniture. You will need to bring dog bowls etc. I have marked cleanliness down slightly but only as there was an initial smell of dog that faded after a day or so. The cottage is accessed by a path from the road which is slightly uneven. The path is lit after dark but we found a torch useful. The road is narrow but parking was not an issue, sometimes we used the free car park a short walk away.
The cottage was stocked with towels and consumables.
Excellent service from agent and owner in resolving a query early in our stay. The cottage was as described.

Stayed for one week in August with wife and 7yr old. Property was very quiet, clean and had everything we needed (including free wi-fi for Netflix and Prime). Private garden was enjoyed by our son for football and there was a playing area within 5 mins walk. About a mile walk into town (along promenade or road). Local Morrisons for shopping 5 mins drive.
Ate in most nights as the cottage had everything we needed to prepare and cook etc. Shower was nice and powerful and the spa bath a nice touch. We went to Blenmore Park, Pucks Glen, Ardentinny Beach and Ardkinglas Gardens all within 45 mins drive.
Enjoyed our stay in this cottage in Dunoon

The cottage wasn't straightforward to find as it is not actually on the main road but up a long path between 2 houses. Being fit & able the frequent journeys to & fro initially with luggage, bikes & food were not a problem but if my elderly Mum had been with us this would have been a problem. There is no room on the street to safely park & although there is a public car park within reasonable distance (again if you're fit & able) I prefer to be able to see my car from a window or driveway especially as we had an expensive bike rack on.
That aside the cottage was very clean & well equipped & had a great garden. The kitchen was spacious as was main bedroom. Fantastic bathroom. The livingroom was adequate but small in comparison & quite dark. No door as such on second bunk bedroom leading off from main bedroom & no sockets - might be a problem for some.
We had a great week & the weather was fantastic.
I hope this review doesn't sound too critical as Bay Cottage was fine for us as a couple but not if we had our 2 children who are in their 20's with us or my elderly mother.
Lovely cottage

Lovely cottage, extremely well furnished, warm and comfortable in a quiet location close to the Dunoon sea front. Excellent location for the Argyll Forest and Cowal Peninsula and with a pretty reservoir and woods within walking from the cottage.

We stayed for a week in Bay Cottage. We didn't realise at the time of booking, that the cottage was set behind another house somewhat in the middle of gardens. We knew there was no private parking, only on street, but it was an extremely narrow street meaning having to park on the narrow kerb to allow other cars to get past. The walkway to get to the cottage was fairly rocky and uneven so make sure to take care.
However, the cottage itself was lovely. The bathroom is very modern, the livingroom small but cosy. The kitchen was the biggest room in the house, super spacious with everything you need. The 2nd bedroom off of the main bedroom was pretty small, but the furniture fits perfectly. All very clean.
The main bed I would suggest replacing. Creaked every time we moved unfortunately, which didn't make for a great sleep all week.
The garden is really spacious, and the decking is a lovely feature for summer nights.
The location of the cottage within Dunoon is perfect! 5 minute walk to the seafront, and the town itself has lots to offer.
Would consider going back if the main bed was replaced.
