Birch cottage is just as described with comfortable accommodation and fabulous views over Loch Long. The owners are very friendly and helpful and we had a wonderful week at Stronchullin. We only used the ground floor as there was just two of us.
Second time we have stayed . We are a party of two adults and two teenagers and attend the Cowal gathering. This cottage is perfect for us and we are booked for same time next year.
I don’t think that just because it was a spectacularly warm Easter swayed our opinions. Kames is a wonderful, secluded village right on the water’s edge and Gate Cottage couldn’t be much closer to the beach and the loch. The beach was so clean, litter-free, and full of sea shells, bird life and the occasional yacht. The view from the cottage is of rural Bute, with the sun coming up over the island each morning. The cottage itself is an extended and refurbished single storey dwelling, with off road parking, and a decent sized garden. We would have spent more evenings outside but there was no...more
We have had a marvellous time at The Kenmore the house is amazing and has everything you need . It is immaculate inside and the location is amazing we will be back again .
The lodge is in a great location just down the road from the Benmore gardens - highly recommended! The walk up to Puck's glen just outside, just right for an after dinner walk when the setting sun was shining onto the trees.
We been for work in Dunoon. The property was like home from home. The Owner was very kind and helpful. The house is well equipped with all you need for a short break.
Enjoyed our stay very much. Beautifully furnished rooms. Excellent location with off-street parking. One small suggestion. Consider moving lock-box to a higher location outside front door.
Had a super week in excellent well equipped cottage . Track down to cottage bumpy but well worth it if you want seclusion in a location with lots of great scenery and places to eat
Ardfyne on Loch Fyne is a stunning house in an idyllic location. The main purpose of our stay was to have a base for our family while walking The Cowal Way which stretches from Portavadie to Inveruglas. The house is more or less half way along the route. The facilities, comfort, cleanliness were excellent with loch views to die for from the lounges and front bedrooms. A real find. I would not hesitate to recommend it to friends. The one negative about the property is the driveway. It is extremely steep, unsurfaced, uneven and not for the faint-hearted. Two members of the family got their ...more
Having returned to the cottage for our fourth visit, we have had another very relaxing holiday. The location is so peaceful, with lots of lovely locations to explore through walks. Our children love to explore the woodlands. The cottage has everything you require in terms of cooking utensils, bedding, towels, washing machine, microwave and dishwasher, making things so easy. It’s a great way to bring in the New Year with the family, a real home for home. We look forward to returning next year.
Perfectly equiped cottage with lots of space and facilities. Very comfy beds, well equiped kitchen, space and bright livingroom and dining, nice surroundings, beautiful vieuws over garden and loch. The host are super friendly and willing to help with everything, but give also privacy. We stayed for 3 weeks and this place is very recommendable even with kids, Great walks, beautiful nature and surroundings
We had a great stay for 24 days. House was well equipped with everything you needed, and had a lovely view. The beds were comfortable and the 2 main bedrooms were spacious. The 3rd bedroom was quirky. House was lovely and warm with the storage heaters and even had to switch them off at times. There is a nice wee garden at the front of the house with a BBQ.Owners contacted us when we booked and introduced themselves which was lovely and all instructions were received before we traveled. Never quite worked out how to work the washing machine so instructions would have been handy. Only negatives ...more
Just returned from a week at Craignethan. Beautifully equipped and stunning location. Everything anyone could want for a self catering holiday. Lots of local information supplied by the owners for strangers to the Kyles of Bute. Children catered for too with supplied buckets, spades and fishing nets as well as all sorts of games for the wet days! Garden is totally enclosed so great for the dog too! Cleanliness was excellent. I would recommend Craignethan and I certainly intend booking again.
This is our second visit to Ardenlee Lodge, and it certainly won’t be our last. The lodge is small, but very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Arthur and Stella are excellent hosts - providing all the little things required for a self catering break eg soap, hand wash, plenty loo rolls, tea coffee- as well as delicious sandwiches and goodies to have a meal when you arrive, especially welcome if you are carrying backpacks! Ardenlee Lodge really is a great place to recharge your batteries.
A cosy place with beautiful walks nearby. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Had a lovely relaxing stay at the Kyle's View. The apartment had everything we needed to make you feel at home with excellent views out over the Kyle's Of Bute to Bute. Would recommend Kyle's View to anyone looking for a relaxing get away from it all holiday. Will definitely be back one day.
Heathfield Villa was very conveniently located within walking distance of shops and amenities of Dunoon. There was plenty of off street parking. The house was very spacious, comfortably furnished and well-equipped with everything we needed for our stay.
Lovely stay at the property. Clean, bright and modern on the inside. Beautiful views of the loch. Highly recommended.
A lovely cottage in a spectacular setting next to the Botanical Gardens at Benmore. Fantastic wildlife with red squirrels visiting the feeders throughout the day. There is an abundance of wildlife in the area with deer, Highland cattle, farm animals and birds all around. Loch Eck is a stones throw away providing leisure facilities and a cycleway and forest walks. Keen walkers can enjoy climbing the surrounding hills. I hope to be returning in the very near future. A splendid place to stay
Tigh An Uillt had everything we needed but the location is the star. Thoroughly recommended and explore the surroundings as much as you can!
The Pier House is in Kames and has it name implies it is on the waterfront of the Kyles of Bute, with the excellent Kames Hotel just behind. Tighnabruaich is about a mile away with a range of shops, hotels and restaurants. This makes the property an ideal base for exploring the Cowal Peninsula and going further afield to Bute and Kintyre. The property is well supplied with furniture and other requirements and has a sensational view over to Bute.
Great get away, place to get away from the world , has no internet or phone reception, but the pub does if you need it just down the way , will stay there again
We have stayed in a lot of rental holiday properties over the last fifteen years and this one comes top overall. It's real test was that our week in July was not blessed with the best weather, but the airy and light spaces (and that includes the bedrooms and bathrooms) coupled with the view, the modern layout and very high quality fixtures and fittings, meant that my wife and I and four friends were able to enjoy the bonhomie and fun that only a really good break can provide.
Extremely warm welcome by delightful owners, Hans and Helga. Cottage was very comfortable with its own enclosed garden (suitable for dog) overlooking the main gardens which are absolutely beautiful. Very much enjoyed my stay especially sitting down by the shore watching the beautiful sunsets.
We had a fantastic stay at Iverfyne. Lovely comfortable cottage with all the amenities and mod cons you need. Beautiful area with Loch fyne restaurant, garden centre coffee shop and the brewery within walking distance. Inverary is just 15 minutes away with lots to see and do. Also a great location to visit other parts of Scotland. We particularly enjoyed seeing the cattle in the fields right next to the cottage. Very cute and cheeky reaching over to eat the garden plants!!
Beautiful cottage, including everything you could possibly need. Extremely comfortable beds. Lovely welcome gifts from owners and very receptive, helpful and accommodating.
We stayed on this lodge park before and really enjoy it for its location and easy access to walks and the Botanic garden. Chestnut lodge is well equipped and maintained, we would certainly recommend stating there. Only issues was we could not get the internet to work which wasn't a big deal since we were out most of the time anyways.
centrally located for our stay ,lovely ,clean accommodation with great views. would stay here again .
Great opportunity for a family holiday in a semi-rural environment. Easy access to Dunoon, Pucks Glen and Benmore. If we come back to Dunoon, this is definitely a place we will be considering again!
Have stayed in this cottage for the past 5 or 6 years and found the accommodation very comfortable and of a good standard. The owner (Fiona) is. very approachable and helpful.
I stayed here with my mother and daughter for 6 nights. The house is beautiful and comfortable and the views are fabulous. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area, even on very rainy days. I look forward to returning again soon.
Friends and I enjoyed a great long weekend at the Taigh Na Mara. Located on the water with stunning views over the Loch, the house was very spacious and there was plenty to keep us occupied. The outdoor patio area and beach area was absolutely ideal, especially with the great weather we had. If I was nitpicking, the only slight downfall was the interior in some bedrooms were slightly dated. Would definitely recommend to others, fantastic value for money.
House was beautiful and perfect for our family holiday. Lots of room for the little one to play and we loved the balcony for relaxing in the evening. The area was gorgeous and we found lots to occupy three generations of the same family. The garden was secure so we will look to bring the four legged members of the family next time, that is always a concern when properties advertise dog friendly, but this certainly was. The hosts were great, the pub is excellent and the food delicious. What's not to like? We will be back!
What a wonderful place to go for some time out and a chance to recharge the batteries. The lodge is warm, comfortable and peaceful. The view is amazing and we spent hours watching heron and oystercatchers. Incredible sunsets too!
We had four nights here. The weather was perfect every day. The apartment was lovely and we sat with the windows open every morning soaking up the view over the loch
The apartment is part of a new build near the waterfront, and also close to the shopping streets. It was warm and comfortable, with plenty of facilities and equipment.
We really enjoyed our stay at Ash Lodge! Very clean, cosy and quick responses from the owners. It was great value for money. The surrounding area is absolutely beautiful! And we enjoyed a great dinner at the Whistleford pub just up the road. Highly recommended and thanks for our stay. To be aware, it's not completely secluded, with similar lodges neighbouring but it's at the bottom so you don't look out onto anyone.
Relaxing, cozy, inviting, comfortable, clean and well taken care of. The location is beautiful. overlooking a loch. Lots of wildlife to watch, including red squirrels at the back of the cottage. There is a great little local shop about 6 miles away (turn right out of the drive) that stocks just about everything you need and more. Also it's a lovely drive to get to it. To really appreciate the location of Teal cottage you need to get out and walk. It's like your in another world, just spectacular. The cottage has more than everything you would ever need, including a set of binoculars, which ...more
Good accommodation, lots of area information available, good and approachable owners. Location great. Ideal for a break in Dunoon.
Lovely view. Nice ocean decor. Pleasant back yard. Beautiful walks up the back to the quiet woods. Thoroughly enjoyed Inveraray and area. Traffic noise.
Good location, with all equipment, very comfort. We enjoy to stay and want to stay more days. maybe next time
The house was very comfortable and suitable for a large group, with a magnificent dining room looking over the canal. The breakfasting kitchen and small pantry were spacious, although a second or larger fridge would have been useful. The two front bedrooms upstairs overlook the canal and there are comfortable seats arranged to take in the view. There was a useful covered space for cycle storage too. The location was perfect for cycling and for gentle walks along the canal tow path and with the added interest of castles and ancient monuments. A longer expedition was to the Island of Gigha, seen...more
Fabulous location and property is very neat and tidy Fabulous Food at Portavadie Marina and Loch Fyne At Cairndow and the fabulous pub at Otter Ferry where they do the best Coffee Cake Ever Ideal location to explore the Island Of Arran and Bute
We had a lovely few days - together with outstanding weather - in this quirky but very comfy flat. The view across to Bute from the living room is outstanding and binoculars were available for otter and porpoise spotting (no luck!). The flat is very well equipped and brilliantly located with a nice outdoor area below.
Very nice upper floor apartment with great view over wonderful Kyles of Bute. Great location in village of Kames, close to local amenities (well-stocked general store with helpful, friendly proprietor; pleasant waterfront not far below, local hotels, golf course and 10 mins from Portavadie spa resort). When there was small problem with electrical supply, owner and local contractor were extremely quick to tackle issue - both were very friendly and helpful. Comfortable stay (only lounge sofa bed was not the best, but were perfectly adequate). Altogether a very pleasant stay. Will certainly retur...more
wee have stayed there the past three years and cannot fault it very peaceful great value spoke to owner nothing a problem to her very nice, would recommend it to people wanting a good place to stay out the way of everything great location could not fault it.
This is a modern house in a secluded location on the banks of Ascog loch. We stayed for 3 nights with our 3 teenage sons. House is practical and warm. The only negative point is that the lounge area is small and only sits 3 people comfortably. I quite enjoyed not having WiFi and only the occasional 4G signal, the boys not so much.
Trevenek cottage is certainly bigger than it looks from the outside with everything you would need for a pleasant and comfortable stay. We would definitely stop here again as it is ideally situated for us when visiting relatives nearby and accessing the beautiful scenic countryside and places of interest.
Excellent lodge. Well equipped. Comfortable. Absolutely gorgeous view. It had everything we could need.
Myrtle bank villa, is spacious. Very well thought out for families, jigsaw puzzles, games, books, etc. We love staying there, as it is so welcoming and comfortable. It's lovely to sit and have breakfast overlooking the loch. If we went to Dunoon again, this is where we would stay. Tge only drawback is one of the beds has changed since our last visit, not very comfortable to sleep in, as it bows in the middle. Apart from that we would still stay again.
Second time we have stayed in this property and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday again. Fabulous location and everything you could wish for a chilled holiday. Excellent space inside and out and adore the spectacular views from the decking area. Will definitely be back. Owners and Ian from Argyll Self Catering Holidays are superb - thank you once again.
Springwell Cottage has undoubtedly one of the best views of the Clyde Estuary that there is. Its sunny aspect, with the garden to the rear and the decking to the front is ideal. I would not recomend the open tread stairs to families with small children but for us we had a super week. Many thanks to the owner for his friendly wellcome with good local knowledge for us.
This is a house in a nice seafront location, handy for everything in Dunoon and surrounding villages. The host was very helpful and accommodating. Only negative is that the house does need quite a bit of attention as there are many things which don't work or are in poor condition which is a but frustrating because otherwise it would be tremendous.
We enjoyed our stay at this cosy cottage. The best part of staying here was the lovely view, close proximity to the beach and the friendly locals. However, the cottage was a lot smaller than expected (probably my fault for not looking more closely at the listing) so definitely not suitable for more than 2 people. Other irritations were the fact you couldn't cover the windows to keep the light out, which meant being woken up quite early. The cottage also seems to be right next to a path that every sailing type uses to get from the beach to the Kames Hotel so you have to put up with a lot of fol...more
Lovely quiet location overlooking boatyard and coast of Bute, view is ever changing with clouds, light and boats. Well appointed inside and out (though weather can be poor). Our third stay at Alderside and may well come back again.
We spent a wonderful week in June, 2018 at Yealand House. Very comfortable for our party of 5. Hidden down a driveway from several other houses, you’ll enjoy perfect quiet. The kitchen is well-equipped for preparing and consuming full meals (several food markets are located in nearby Lochgilphead if you’re doing the cooking). The clothes washer, dryer, and dishwasher are all in top condition, too. The family room enjoys stunning views over the water to Jura, with light past 11pm in June. There is also a sunny room at the back of the house, perfect for morning tea and coffee. There are ...more
Kintore is a fantastic property for a stay at Innellan. We have family who live locally and over the years we have rented many self-catering properties. This one ranks at or near the top of the list in terms of quality, comfort, cleanliness, location and value for money. Highly recommended.
Fantastic place, went for my mum's 60th birthday last weekend, we had a great time from start to finish, the bedrooms & house is very spacious & clean, had a great time in the hot tub to, it a great location if you travel by ferri 5mins in a taxi, I would highly recommend it, we will definitely be back xx
Lovely restful break. The only noise being the stream at the front of the cottages. Small cottages, each with its own garden.
What a lovely cottage! Val gave us a warm welcome, and showed us around Springburn Cottage, including the children's playroom. This is a very pretty location in Argyll with local facilities to suit everyday needs - and the quiet to enjoy it. The kitchen is well suited to self-catering, although there are plenty of local eating spots. The large bedrooms allowed a good night's sleep on comfy beds. We didn't need to use the washing machine and tumble drier, but for a longer stay (or for walkers in poor weather) this would be a boon. This was our second holiday in Strachur, and I am sure we will b...more
Had a great stay at Lodge with family of 5 ages ranging from 5 to 56 years old. Weather was a bit mixed but didn't bother us in the slightest. Lots of walks nearby to take our dog she had a great time the only wee problem we had with lodge was the decking, it was no good for our dog walking on as her paws kept falling through the wide slats so therefore had to use the other door all the time and tie her up to prevent her trying to get up beside us when we were sitting out on the decking other than that it was the perfect holiday. Husband tried his luck at fishing and caught a crab an eel an...more
Great cottage and facilities close to lots of great walks, perfect for getting away from it all to relax with great views.
Take plenty of logs or buy them from the Jet Garage down the road as the one storage heater in the living area doesn’t provide enough heat to sufficiently heat this area. Even with the log fire going it was still a bit chilly over the Christmas period that I ended up putting the oven on and leaving the door open to heat the open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area.
Loved the location of the cabin. Cabin sleeps 6 but only seating for 5 in the living area.. Cutlery, dishes and pots/pans could be doing with getting renewed Carpets needing a good clean lots of stains.. Beds and pillows very comfy Nice clean well maintained park. Had a enjoyable stay great walking through Pucks Glen . Good value for money
Very comfortable lodge with a "home from home" feel. Quiet location. Well equipped, including a cupboard full of games that were much appreciated on a very wet afternoon!
Fantastic appartment with views over the clyde. Nice wine and cookies when we arrived. Really good food at pub 1mile away. Great places to visit locally.
I just made a note for three days my wife and boy were welcomed very well the house we found clean and warm we felt good but we would have stayed more maybe next year
Everything was perfect. Beautiful and warm house. Everything was clean. Hot tub was great! Couldn’t fault it.
This cottage was fitted out well and had the bonus of having owner nearby to assist with any problems. This is a bonus for anybody who does not know area as they are willing to answer any questions.
The apartment is clean and tidy and has everything you would need in the kitchen, but is a bit 'soulless' and feels basic. The lounge could be made more cosy with a few cushions on the sofa. There were plenty of (obviously new) towels, but I'm a bit puzzled as to why there is no-where to hang your towels in the bathroom - something that could be easily sorted with a couple of towel rings/rails. There is no welcome pack/folder and it's not obvious how to use the TV/Satellite system or the electric wall heaters (again, could be easily sorted). The wi-fi code was helpfully mounted on the wall...more
This is our second stay. The quarters are spacious and comfortable and the surroundings are beautiful. Unfortunately it rained constantly during our stay so we didn’t get round the estate and woodland gardens. However, we did explore the area and it was lovely to come back to a great log fire. Would recommend.
Nice place to stay from where we made nice trips. Arboretum. Royal botanical gardens. Old church in Kilnun and so on.
Rowan Cottage was indeed in a beautiful location and because we had good weather during our stay we were able to take full advantage of the decking area with its excellent views over Loch Long. We enjoyed the peace and quiet that this property offers. We did feel that some improvements could be made to the interior especially with regard to the kitchen and its equipment. There was a very rusty dish drainer and glass chopping board that was very badly water stained - these items were well overdue for replacement. There was very little crockery especially if there was full occupancy and th...more
Having a sore ankle, the steps were were not easy on coming down. A light was very much needed to get at the key. The bath could do with a non slip mat or rubber discs. The place soon warmed, with the heating on for about an hour.
Lodge was very cold when we arrived no heating on,storage heating is very ineffective because of old appliances, had to leave a day early because of the cold and uncomfortable sofa also lighting is poor because of low energy bulbs.
Lodge itself was of a good standard in a peaceful location. Downside for us was having to pay for swimming as there were no passes included despite me asking a couple of times to be told they were.
We had a wonderful time at the Boat House, cosy with the fireplace, beautiful view (even otters came along) and quiet. We got flowers and herbs from Richard from the garden and also tried some vegetables. :-) Just to be helpfull the following: Some things can be a bit better. The wood for the stove should be a little smaller fore the Boat House or an ax would be helpfull. The kitchen is a bit outdated but still functional. The outside of the house could use a little paint. The windows need to be cleaned at the inside to have an even better view ;-).
