Gate Cottage is a lovely cosy and comfortable cottage. We loved it so much we have booked to go back. I think that says it all.
Never better. It was great..........................................................................
What can I say, the house is fantastic and absolutely massive. We comfortably stayed and enjoyed greats views from the decking off the living room as well as watching the sheep and wildlife roam from the kitchen window at the back. The location could not be better as there is plenty of shoreline and woodland walks nearby. All in all we had a great time and loved the property.
Springwell Cottage is a lovely WARM cottage with COMFY BEDS. That alone makes it a fantastic stay, but on top of that it has an amazing kitchen for cooking in (although you may want to bring some basic utensils etc) and a lovely living room with a fire. The Bath is HUGE and it's a perfect space to just while away time looking out the window seeing the ferries go by on the lock. I know I probably sound a little over enthusiastic but i've stayed in enough mediocre holiday cottages to feel genuinly excited when I come across somewhere like this. Added bonus is the owners run the show and they ...more
Second time we have stayed . We are a party of two adults and two teenagers and attend the Cowal gathering. This cottage is perfect for us and we are booked for same time next year.
This was a perfect haven to retreat too after a long day. Very central for shops and yet perfectly situated as a base for exploring. Everything was provided and more. I would most definitely stay again.
Birch cottage is just as described with comfortable accommodation and fabulous views over Loch Long. The owners are very friendly and helpful and we had a wonderful week at Stronchullin. We only used the ground floor as there was just two of us.
Had a super week in excellent well equipped cottage . Track down to cottage bumpy but well worth it if you want seclusion in a location with lots of great scenery and places to eat
Booked this as a family get away. The house was amazing, very spacious and clean. It was fully equipped with everything that we needed with us being self catering. There was also two living rooms which both had TV’s. The only down side is that when booking it advised there was outdoor furniture, which was going to work out great with the nice weather over Easter weekend. However, on arrival we found there was no outdoor furniture at all. Although we had a great time, I feel this would have made our time outdoors a bit more enjoyable. Would still recommend mmend this place and would happily sta...more
Having returned to the cottage for our fourth visit, we have had another very relaxing holiday. The location is so peaceful, with lots of lovely locations to explore through walks. Our children love to explore the woodlands. The cottage has everything you require in terms of cooking utensils, bedding, towels, washing machine, microwave and dishwasher, making things so easy. It’s a great way to bring in the New Year with the family, a real home for home. We look forward to returning next year.
A cosy place with beautiful walks nearby. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Had a lovely relaxing stay at the Kyle's View. The apartment had everything we needed to make you feel at home with excellent views out over the Kyle's Of Bute to Bute. Would recommend Kyle's View to anyone looking for a relaxing get away from it all holiday. Will definitely be back one day.
This is truly one of the most comfortable, cozy and well equipped places to have a break. A lovely welcome starts your stay and the quality of the furnishings and amenities was very high. The shower alone is wonderful. The surroundings are beautiful the farm, the loch and the peaceful atmosphere. Your hosts are on hand should you need anything and there are a myriad of activities to enjoy. Will be returning as soon as time and finances allow.
We have been to Dunoon/Strone 7 times over the last seven years. We love the area, so peaceful and plenty to see and do. Dunbheag Cottage was perfect. It was very comfortable and clean, everything you needed to make it home from home. The view was absolutely fantastic from the cottage. There was a summer house in the garden (which was huge) with chairs for you to sit in, but, the best was the glass summer house on the edge of the garden, it was most beautiful sitting there on a night time looking out to the loch. There was also the lovely surprise of chocolates and a bottle of fizz, that went...more
We had a great stay for 24 days. House was well equipped with everything you needed, and had a lovely view. The beds were comfortable and the 2 main bedrooms were spacious. The 3rd bedroom was quirky. House was lovely and warm with the storage heaters and even had to switch them off at times. There is a nice wee garden at the front of the house with a BBQ.Owners contacted us when we booked and introduced themselves which was lovely and all instructions were received before we traveled. Never quite worked out how to work the washing machine so instructions would have been handy. Only negatives ...more
A wonderful place to share time with family or friends. It was really spacious with a big kitchen and two lounges with fantastic views.
Having great weather enhanced our stay. Wildlife highlight was a seal on the seal shaped rock not far from the cottage one evening - unfazed by one of use going down close to take a photo.
I stayed at this place for 4 nights. It's in a good location, overlooking the loch, it was quiet and spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfi and I slept well, but in all honesty I wouldn't have been that comfortable if I would have had to share it with my partner; we would have found it too small. The best part are the owners, not at all pushy, like some I've come across in my many years of travelling, but I did get a welcome like I've never had before. The lady of the manor even made soup to warm me after my journey, and left me very nice treats, which made me feel really spoiled. They we...more
Heathfield Villa was very conveniently located within walking distance of shops and amenities of Dunoon. There was plenty of off street parking. The house was very spacious, comfortably furnished and well-equipped with everything we needed for our stay.
We were deeply impressed of this little treasure. We made every day a hiking tour und in the evening we fired the wood stove and enjoyed the loneliness. Only a lot of sheeps and two rabbits were our neighbours! What a pleasure! We were very pleased, that we got new towels at the half of our stay - the housekeeper came especially to bring them to us. The landlady has made a portfolio that explains everything. The wifi works most time good. There are a lot of maps of the larger surrounding, so there is everyday something to do, hike or visit. It was really hard for us to leave this little hou...more
Had a wonderful stay once again at Craignethan. The house is lovely and comfortable with the added benefit of the extra accommodation at the back of the house. View from the house is spectacular. Will certainly return for our 5th stay! Thanks to all for making our stay so nice!
Lovely stay at the property. Clean, bright and modern on the inside. Beautiful views of the loch. Highly recommended.
The Pier House is in Kames and has it name implies it is on the waterfront of the Kyles of Bute, with the excellent Kames Hotel just behind. Tighnabruaich is about a mile away with a range of shops, hotels and restaurants. This makes the property an ideal base for exploring the Cowal Peninsula and going further afield to Bute and Kintyre. The property is well supplied with furniture and other requirements and has a sensational view over to Bute.
We had a lovely time, we loved the lodge and the location was fab. great for our two young boys, with swimming and play areas on site just a 5 minute walk away and kids entertainment, this made for a wonderful break, will be back!!
5 star luxury on the secret coast of Argyll .its the second time we’ve stayed at waterside can’t wait till the next time thank you Bruce & Penny
Clean and cosy- perfect for our short break. Loved the wood burner! Would book again with no hesitation . Thank you
Knew area well and where property was situated so ideal for our needs. Wonderful relaxing stay. Property well equipped. Beds really comfortable. Hope to be back.
This is the third time we have been to the Benmore Farm accommodation and, once again, we had a fantastic stay. The accommodation is superb and well maintained. The surrounding location is great with many beautiful walks close by. Very quiet and undisturbed. Highly recommended.
We had a fantastic stay at Iverfyne. Lovely comfortable cottage with all the amenities and mod cons you need. Beautiful area with Loch fyne restaurant, garden centre coffee shop and the brewery within walking distance. Inverary is just 15 minutes away with lots to see and do. Also a great location to visit other parts of Scotland. We particularly enjoyed seeing the cattle in the fields right next to the cottage. Very cute and cheeky reaching over to eat the garden plants!!
My family and I really enjoyed our stay in the lodge, and it had everything in it that we needed. My children settled in immediately and slept very well. The relative lack of tv channels was a small disadvantage, but we weren't there for most of the time so it didn't matter much, and we even got some of the old-fashioned games out! Internet access was mostly ok, but was a little slow and sometimes intermittent. I am allergic to feathers, so the feather-filled bedding was a small problem for me! On the whole these little things did not detract from our enjoyment of our stay, and the location w...more
Beautiful cottage, including everything you could possibly need. Extremely comfortable beds. Lovely welcome gifts from owners and very receptive, helpful and accommodating.
Great opportunity for a family holiday in a semi-rural environment. Easy access to Dunoon, Pucks Glen and Benmore. If we come back to Dunoon, this is definitely a place we will be considering again!
Have stayed in this cottage for the past 5 or 6 years and found the accommodation very comfortable and of a good standard. The owner (Fiona) is. very approachable and helpful.
Friends and I enjoyed a great long weekend at the Taigh Na Mara. Located on the water with stunning views over the Loch, the house was very spacious and there was plenty to keep us occupied. The outdoor patio area and beach area was absolutely ideal, especially with the great weather we had. If I was nitpicking, the only slight downfall was the interior in some bedrooms were slightly dated. Would definitely recommend to others, fantastic value for money.
We spent 10 days at the Alt Beag House and the pictures do not the property justice. The property has everything you require and the extra touches of books, games and large selection of dvd’s available to use. The views from the property are stunning and there are lots of interesting things to do in the area. We where a group of six with age group ranging from 20 to 80 and our pet border collie, their property offered plenty of room. Would highly recommend and will be returning again.
House was beautiful and perfect for our family holiday. Lots of room for the little one to play and we loved the balcony for relaxing in the evening. The area was gorgeous and we found lots to occupy three generations of the same family. The garden was secure so we will look to bring the four legged members of the family next time, that is always a concern when properties advertise dog friendly, but this certainly was. The hosts were great, the pub is excellent and the food delicious. What's not to like? We will be back!
We were here for two nights to take part in the Royal National Mòd in Dunoon. We needed a quiet, comfortable, clean, accessible base, easily reached from the different venues. Hazelbank ticked all our boxes and more. Our hosts were so kind and welcoming, and their local knowledge was much appreciated. We wish we could have stayed longer and would love to return. This apartment is a real find, a gem!
We spent a lovely week in Upper Ashwood South. The flat is spotlessly clean, well-equipped and comfortably furnished, and we had everything we needed. The views from the front windows are stunning and that from the dining area over the gardens and towards the woods beyond is also very pleasant. This is our third visit to Ashwood, and Kames never disappoints.
What a wonderful place to go for some time out and a chance to recharge the batteries. The lodge is warm, comfortable and peaceful. The view is amazing and we spent hours watching heron and oystercatchers. Incredible sunsets too!
We really enjoyed our stay at Ash Lodge! Very clean, cosy and quick responses from the owners. It was great value for money. The surrounding area is absolutely beautiful! And we enjoyed a great dinner at the Whistleford pub just up the road. Highly recommended and thanks for our stay. To be aware, it's not completely secluded, with similar lodges neighbouring but it's at the bottom so you don't look out onto anyone.
Relaxing, cozy, inviting, comfortable, clean and well taken care of. The location is beautiful. overlooking a loch. Lots of wildlife to watch, including red squirrels at the back of the cottage. There is a great little local shop about 6 miles away (turn right out of the drive) that stocks just about everything you need and more. Also it's a lovely drive to get to it. To really appreciate the location of Teal cottage you need to get out and walk. It's like your in another world, just spectacular. The cottage has more than everything you would ever need, including a set of binoculars, which ...more
Lovely view. Nice ocean decor. Pleasant back yard. Beautiful walks up the back to the quiet woods. Thoroughly enjoyed Inveraray and area. Traffic noise.
Good location, with all equipment, very comfort. We enjoy to stay and want to stay more days. maybe next time
Fantastic little cottage in a peaceful location with great views, it was a perfect weekend getaway. Great hotel across the road too.
We had a lovely few days - together with outstanding weather - in this quirky but very comfy flat. The view across to Bute from the living room is outstanding and binoculars were available for otter and porpoise spotting (no luck!). The flat is very well equipped and brilliantly located with a nice outdoor area below.
Lodge was lovely enjoyed our stay just what we were looking for, log fire brought back memories.....
We loved our stay. We know the area, so it wasn't an issue for us, but the information folder could contain a lot more local information. The bungalows might benefit from compost bins - we live in Argyll and also have 3 weekly bin collections. A garden compost bin tucked away out of sight would hugely reduce what people have to put in the general waste bin. Glass bottle recycling would also be good - we took our glass bottles home so we could recycle them - but previous guests had put them in the general waste bin as they couldn't go in the blue recycle bin.
Very nice upper floor apartment with great view over wonderful Kyles of Bute. Great location in village of Kames, close to local amenities (well-stocked general store with helpful, friendly proprietor; pleasant waterfront not far below, local hotels, golf course and 10 mins from Portavadie spa resort). When there was small problem with electrical supply, owner and local contractor were extremely quick to tackle issue - both were very friendly and helpful. Comfortable stay (only lounge sofa bed was not the best, but were perfectly adequate). Altogether a very pleasant stay. Will certainly retur...more
wee have stayed there the past three years and cannot fault it very peaceful great value spoke to owner nothing a problem to her very nice, would recommend it to people wanting a good place to stay out the way of everything great location could not fault it.
This was the third time we have stayed here and we love it. Beautiful views beside the loch in a very peaceful setting which is also close to the amenities at Portavadie.
Trevenek cottage is certainly bigger than it looks from the outside with everything you would need for a pleasant and comfortable stay. We would definitely stop here again as it is ideally situated for us when visiting relatives nearby and accessing the beautiful scenic countryside and places of interest.
Second time we have stayed in this property and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday again. Fabulous location and everything you could wish for a chilled holiday. Excellent space inside and out and adore the spectacular views from the decking area. Will definitely be back. Owners and Ian from Argyll Self Catering Holidays are superb - thank you once again.
This is a house in a nice seafront location, handy for everything in Dunoon and surrounding villages. The host was very helpful and accommodating. Only negative is that the house does need quite a bit of attention as there are many things which don't work or are in poor condition which is a but frustrating because otherwise it would be tremendous.
Lovely quiet location overlooking boatyard and coast of Bute, view is ever changing with clouds, light and boats. Well appointed inside and out (though weather can be poor). Our third stay at Alderside and may well come back again.
We spent a wonderful week in June, 2018 at Yealand House. Very comfortable for our party of 5. Hidden down a driveway from several other houses, you’ll enjoy perfect quiet. The kitchen is well-equipped for preparing and consuming full meals (several food markets are located in nearby Lochgilphead if you’re doing the cooking). The clothes washer, dryer, and dishwasher are all in top condition, too. The family room enjoys stunning views over the water to Jura, with light past 11pm in June. There is also a sunny room at the back of the house, perfect for morning tea and coffee. There are ...more
3 generations of family enjoyed a fantastic weekend at Shelbourne Lodge. The house is just beautiful and the many original features were admired by everyone. The kids loved the working servants bell system and delighted in playing waiters for the weekend. Everyone commented on the comfort of all the beds and the fantastic sleep they got. The location of the house is prime position, close enough to lochgilphead for the amenities but far enough out to enjoy the quiet of the countryside. The canal being on your doorstep is a great asset to the house and in the brief intervals of good weather we h...more
Warm and well equipped house. Housekeeper was helpful when we couldn't find the door keys and needed to delay our departure. Nice view over Holy Loch. Convenient for the marina and local newsagent and pub a few minutes walk down the road.
Kintore is a fantastic property for a stay at Innellan. We have family who live locally and over the years we have rented many self-catering properties. This one ranks at or near the top of the list in terms of quality, comfort, cleanliness, location and value for money. Highly recommended.
A lovely little cottage, well presented and looked after. It was very cosy, and excellently situated for trips around the Loch Fyne area, as well the local village. The post office is also a shop and cafe/restaurant with very friendly staff and good food. Shop is slightly small but had all the basics we needed. A really great place to stay regardless of the season - going in December meant we could take full advantage of the open fire! Definitely recommended.
Lovely restful break. The only noise being the stream at the front of the cottages. Small cottages, each with its own garden.
lydeside Villa Outrage I am struggling to find good things to say on this stay, which is a shame as 9 members of our family had spent a long time trying to find the perfect date and accommodation with a hot tub to suit us all. We have stayed at similar accommodations which were first class, but sadly this was not one of them. First thing we noticed, the dishes and cutlery were grubby, we had to wash everything before use. We then noticed that things around the whole house were far from spotless, the bed appeared to be thrown together, and worse there were electric wires hanging loos...more
Excellent long weekend stay, the lodge was well equipped and very comfortable, the location and views were exceptional and well worth the journey. Will be back up later this summer.
Take plenty of logs or buy them from the Jet Garage down the road as the one storage heater in the living area doesn’t provide enough heat to sufficiently heat this area. Even with the log fire going it was still a bit chilly over the Christmas period that I ended up putting the oven on and leaving the door open to heat the open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area.
Nice cottage.friendly owners Comfy beds and good facilities lovely views. Quad biking fun. Beautiful area.
Loved the location of the cabin. Cabin sleeps 6 but only seating for 5 in the living area.. Cutlery, dishes and pots/pans could be doing with getting renewed Carpets needing a good clean lots of stains.. Beds and pillows very comfy Nice clean well maintained park. Had a enjoyable stay great walking through Pucks Glen . Good value for money
Had a great relaxing holiday away from it all ( the good weather was a bonus). Lots of walks to do and some great scenery. Would recommend the strone inn for food. Welcome pack was a lovely touch.
Very comfortable lodge with a "home from home" feel. Quiet location. Well equipped, including a cupboard full of games that were much appreciated on a very wet afternoon!
I just made a note for three days my wife and boy were welcomed very well the house we found clean and warm we felt good but we would have stayed more maybe next year
Everything was perfect. Beautiful and warm house. Everything was clean. Hot tub was great! Couldn’t fault it.
Perfect location for exploring the beautiful area of the Cowal Peninsular. Extremely well equipped kitchen with plenty utensils and pots and pans; great oven. It was great to have ample cleaning products and linen available too! Nice bottle of wine and shortbread as a welcome much appreciated.
This cottage was fitted out well and had the bonus of having owner nearby to assist with any problems. This is a bonus for anybody who does not know area as they are willing to answer any questions.
The apartment is clean and tidy and has everything you would need in the kitchen, but is a bit 'soulless' and feels basic. The lounge could be made more cosy with a few cushions on the sofa. There were plenty of (obviously new) towels, but I'm a bit puzzled as to why there is no-where to hang your towels in the bathroom - something that could be easily sorted with a couple of towel rings/rails. There is no welcome pack/folder and it's not obvious how to use the TV/Satellite system or the electric wall heaters (again, could be easily sorted). The wi-fi code was helpfully mounted on the wall...more
We had high hopes of this cottage. It looked good on the website, and the office responded very quickly to our query a few days before to confirm that there would be a travel cot in the house when we arrived. We arrived late at night, so the very poor and vague directions didn't help. We eventually found the right place, situated on what is a fairly busy road. There are two properties on the site, Woodend cottage is the larger one. When we arrived the house had clearly recently been vacated, was warm but smelt very unpleasant and musty. There was no sign of the travel cot, only an outer case ...more
Having a sore ankle, the steps were were not easy on coming down. A light was very much needed to get at the key. The bath could do with a non slip mat or rubber discs. The place soon warmed, with the heating on for about an hour.
Lodge was very cold when we arrived no heating on,storage heating is very ineffective because of old appliances, had to leave a day early because of the cold and uncomfortable sofa also lighting is poor because of low energy bulbs.
Comfortable house which was ideal for a family stay. Snooker room was an added bonus. Good location and a nice quiet area.
Loved our stay as always - a little extra would be maybe the provision of butter/bread/marmite. Nonetheless, we loved our stay. We have been coming here for years since we used to come when at University in Edinburgh.
We had a wonderful time at the Boat House, cosy with the fireplace, beautiful view (even otters came along) and quiet. We got flowers and herbs from Richard from the garden and also tried some vegetables. :-) Just to be helpfull the following: Some things can be a bit better. The wood for the stove should be a little smaller fore the Boat House or an ax would be helpfull. The kitchen is a bit outdated but still functional. The outside of the house could use a little paint. The windows need to be cleaned at the inside to have an even better view ;-).
