Birch cottage is just as described with comfortable accommodation and fabulous views over Loch Long. The owners are very friendly and helpful and we had a wonderful week at Stronchullin. We only used the ground floor as there was just two of us.
We had a super holiday staying at Creran Reef. The house was perfect, the kitchen was extremely well equipped a really comfortable place to spend our holiday. A big bonus for us as dog owners was the attached garage, we were able to dry off the dog and ourselves before going into the house after our lovely walks. Having the cycle/walking track so close is excellent you can walk in safety to nearby Tralee/Benderloch beach. Sutherland Grove is a short car journey away with good walking and impressive waterfall.
Despite some gloomy and wet weather , our 4 day stay at the Estuary Apartment was the highlight of our 2 week trip to Scotland. Conveniently located for easy access to Ferry terminals, shops, restaurants and the Promenade, it was a true gem . The flat was spacious, impeccably clean and comfortable, and tastefully decorated. All the amenities for a home-from-home stay were available in the apartment and the outlook over the Clyde estuary was spectacular. The parking near the flat was also great . Highly recommended .
Second time we have stayed . We are a party of two adults and two teenagers and attend the Cowal gathering. This cottage is perfect for us and we are booked for same time next year.
We found Darroch Beag to be very cosy and comfortable, and in a beautifully secluded (yest accessible) location with wonderful views over Loch Fyne - just as the description specified. Mark the owner, very friendly gent, checked in with us midweek to see if everything was ok, which it was, and then left us to it. We simply can't fault this cottage, it was like a home from home (but better). Just a minor point. An information folder would have been beneficial with house rules detailing what to do with bins, towels, bedding, when leaving etc. Also with information on nearest doctors, hospital, e...more
Kin -Rey was more than we expected, the best holiday property that we have ever stayed at. Beautiful property furnished to high standards with everything required for a perfect holiday/honeymoon. Double glazed property with a great central heating. The property is 5 mins drive/15 mins walk to Dunoon,10 minutes drive to ferry at Hunters Quay. Will definitely return to this property. Regards Tony and Debbie Gaskell.
Lovely cottage, great view, clean and cosy. Loved the swing up the hill & walk in Pucks Glen. Great!
Had a super week in excellent well equipped cottage . Track down to cottage bumpy but well worth it if you want seclusion in a location with lots of great scenery and places to eat
Outstanding property with everything you could possibly need. Immaculately clean and very comfortable will definitely book again
Excellent accommodation very clean and tidy, lovely location. Good off road parking.Just what I needed.
this was a really well maintained and well finished place, although attached to a working farm, not in any way noisy and no farm smells. proximity to Benmore Botanic gardens was brilliant with wildlife everywhere you look, Red Squirrel, Red Deer , birdlife, etc. the only downside for us was that we only booked a week and had to go home on Saturday.
Beautiful cottage in perfect location for exploring Argyll. It is well equipped with everything that is needed for a comfortable self catering holiday
Kyles View is a lovely flat in a very peaceful location. The flat is spacious, very well-equipped, comfortable, and spotlessly clean, with beautiful views from all windows and a very pleasant rear garden. The wifi, heating, electrical equipment etc. all worked very well, and the kitchen is well-stocked with pots and pans, dishes etc.; the seating and beds were very comfortable; in short, we had everything we needed for a really enjoyable holiday. There are excellent walks in the immediate area and nearby. Kames has a very good, well-stocked grocery shop, as does Tighnabruaich, and there are pl...more
Great home with wonderful views on the loch, particularly from the upstairs seating arrangement and balcony. A spacious kitchen and large dinning area was ideal for family. There are a couple of pubs about 200 minutes walk away, but remember to take a torch as there is no street lighting for the majority of the pavement. Only slight negative is the pool table was on the slope with small holes in the cloth and just one cue which didn't have a tip.
We had a great stay for 24 days. House was well equipped with everything you needed, and had a lovely view. The beds were comfortable and the 2 main bedrooms were spacious. The 3rd bedroom was quirky. House was lovely and warm with the storage heaters and even had to switch them off at times. There is a nice wee garden at the front of the house with a BBQ.Owners contacted us when we booked and introduced themselves which was lovely and all instructions were received before we traveled. Never quite worked out how to work the washing machine so instructions would have been handy. Only negatives ...more
Craignethan is a gorgeous, shore front cottage. The cottage has all the amenities needed for a perfect stay. We have been many times and hope to continue staying in this lovely home. Argyll self catering holidays are very helpful and friendly.
Very nicely and tastefully renovated old stable building in beautiful surrounding. The house is perfectly equipped and the landlords were very friendly and helpful!
Lovely comfortable cottage in a stunning location. Unfortunately our stay coincided with storm Ciara but this didn’t stop us getting out & about. Lovely part of our country. Only let down was the cottage was freezing on arrival & initial lack of logs for Woodburning stove. This was soon sorted by a trip to the local store.
Lovely stay at the property. Clean, bright and modern on the inside. Beautiful views of the loch. Highly recommended.
I booked Glenbranter cottage for 2 nights, 2 weeks before my wedding to have some "me time". I could not have been more impressed. The cottage is set in such idyllic settings with the stream out the front and the hills at the back. It is quiet and serene. The views are amazing!! Inside it is very cosy and has all the essentials you would need. There are plenty of information leaflets about the surrounding area and everything you would need to know is in a folder. It was so good to get away from the everyday busy life and just take time out to relax and unwind. I brought my 2 dogs with...more
Fantastic location, beautiful views. Excellent accommodation. Thank you Eileen and to Ian at Argyll self catering holidays.
Our stay couldn’t have been more perfect. Views from windows amazing, spacious rooms, comfortable beds and great en suites. Fabulous location. Village had fireworks on Hogmanay at each end, we had benefit of both lots being in middle. Grandson loved beach combing, and bonus seeing otters in wild. Loonie dook was loonie. Food at Royal an Lochan v tasty. Lunch at the Oystercatcher amazing. Beach at Ostel Bay lovely and peaceful albeit few muddy bits to get to it. All in all a great choice for family break to see in 2020.
We had a superb stay at Shelbourne Lodge. It was well-appointed and just the right size and facility-wise (bathrooms, dining room, lounge, kitchen) to accommodate a family of 8. The location on the canal was lovely. Loved the fact that it was an older building with a history - even an album of old photos to prove it. Lovely private garden - and some of the best pillows encountered on my travels.
An idyllic setting, truly away from it all. We enjoyed being in such a beautiful place and the weather was mostly kind to us. Amazing to have the beach so close. Enjoyed meals at the Oystercatcher and explored a little further afield too. All was as advertised.
Extremely warm welcome by delightful owners, Hans and Helga. Cottage was very comfortable with its own enclosed garden (suitable for dog) overlooking the main gardens which are absolutely beautiful. Very much enjoyed my stay especially sitting down by the shore watching the beautiful sunsets.
We felt at home as soon as we arrived, very comfortable and with all the facilities and equipment we could possibly need. Wonderful ever changing views from the lounge. Slightly disappointed with the higher level and noise of traffic along a single track road than we expected.
Very cosy and warm cottage with stunning loch views. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay over Christmas, and we would have stayed longer only cottage was booked. Easy walk to the shops and pubs and a nice hotel just along the road. Lovely welcome pack from the owners, thank you! Nice log fire and great heating system.
Very clean, modern and nicely maintained accommodation. Almost everything that we needed for our holiday. Perfect for dogs, the garden is enclosed and pebbled so ideal for letting a dog out in the rain. We had a 7 month old puppy, and it was just what we needed to explore the area. On the sea front, so nice to venture outside, with supermarket a couple of hundred yards away and many places to eat or get takeaway. Whistlefield Inn was lovely to eat, and very welcoming to dogs. Further afield, the George Hotel in Inverary and the Creggans Inn in Strachur were also nice places to stop and ea...more
centrally located for our stay ,lovely ,clean accommodation with great views. would stay here again .
Beautiful location, lovely cottage; thoroughly enjoyed our holiday (34 more characters? What else can I say?)
We stayed at Dolphin Run during the tail end of Storm Dennis. The weather was wet and windy and te ground sodden. We quickly took some photographs during brief periods of sunshine. Despite these facts, we felt completely content with the views of the Clyde and the hills beyond from the lovely full length windows in our cozy holiday "home". We read books, cooked, watched films on our i-Pads, talked, rested and walked our two small dogs who, needless to say, didn't fancy braving the elements for longer than necessary. As my husband (born in Greenock) and I (with Highland ancestry) both feel so "a...more
We had a lovely stay over Christmas. Plenty space and facilities for 6 guests and our dogs. Our host was very helpful and easy to contact as required. Lovely break! Thank you!
My wife and I needed accommodation at short notice and the owner was very flexible about when we could check in and check out. Located very close to Hunters Quay ferry terminal it has an excellent location and good river views from the front garden. Good space.
Fabulous ,well equipped house .Floor to ceiling windows on 3 sides of the lounge, with amazing views onto the water+hills . Kitchen had plenty glasses, cutlery+ crockery .All the beds were very comfortable. The Kames hotel was a short walk away+ we had a lovely meal there on Hogmanay+ watched the fireworks at midnight. Would definitely return for another long weekend.
Clean, spacious and very welcoming place to stay. Good location close to some super walks (pucks Glen was our favourite) and only a short drive to the coast. The owners were lovely, accommodating us at short notice and checking if we had everything we needed. The property has a large enclosed garden and good sized rooms. We enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing stay here.
We ve been to this house with family and friends six times over the last few years. The facilities are excellent and the kitchen is well stocked for seven people. We had a slight issue with the hot water supply which was immediately sorted out by the friendly and very helpful owner. The bedrooms were set up to our requirements beforehand. The house was extremely clean and well presented. We will be back soon.
Great location next to the village hotel and across from a small church. No mobile coverage at all (unless on EE) which was fine by us. Cottage appears to be post war pre-fab style construction, and has thin walls where sound travels (in case you have noisy children like me). Oil fired central heating worked great and the cottage was very cosy, we had to turn the temp down on arrival. Bedrooms are a good size and the cottage was clean and well kept, although a little tired. The grounds are a good size and well kept too, but we had no need to use them at this time of year (other than the childr...more
Excellent accommodation - clean, spacious and warm. Shore-front location is a delight. No hesitation in recommending this place for a get-away-from-it-all break.
It took me a while to get the shower running at the right temperature on almost every day. I am 78. I almost gave up to start with. There is no info and it might not have helped anyway. I never did have a bath. The TV programmes were very few, fewer even than my own. The lighting was very poor. We are writers (historian, scholar, novelist) and ardent readers and reading was difficult. The bedside lights were totally inadequate. Those in the lounge were not much better, no matter what we tried. The carpets near the walls were not very clean but generally, I thought it was OK. The house design w...more
The apartment is part of a new build near the waterfront, and also close to the shopping streets. It was warm and comfortable, with plenty of facilities and equipment.
Relaxing, cozy, inviting, comfortable, clean and well taken care of. The location is beautiful. overlooking a loch. Lots of wildlife to watch, including red squirrels at the back of the cottage. There is a great little local shop about 6 miles away (turn right out of the drive) that stocks just about everything you need and more. Also it's a lovely drive to get to it. To really appreciate the location of Teal cottage you need to get out and walk. It's like your in another world, just spectacular. The cottage has more than everything you would ever need, including a set of binoculars, which ...more
Lovely view. Nice ocean decor. Pleasant back yard. Beautiful walks up the back to the quiet woods. Thoroughly enjoyed Inveraray and area. Traffic noise.
Lovely apartment, great views from sitting room window over the Clyde Estuary. Quiet location, friendly hosts, beautiful town.
We loved this apartment spacious, warm and great fire. Our only bug bear was there was no name on the gate to tell us which apartment it was. There was a message describing the green awnings but we struggled to see in the dark..... Thank you
This is the second time we have rented this property. We love it.Its so cosy.Unfortubately both times when we have arrived the property has been cold and musty smelling. It takes a wee while to heat up.It would make such a difference to arrive to a warm apartment. This time the fridge was really smelly and so we had to give it a thorough clean before we our food in. But we do love this property and will use it again.
Shame about the weather and the midges, but that's the west coast of Scotland! That aside, An Cala is a well-equipped and very comfortable base to enjoy the beautiful area or just to relax in a beautiful setting. Am torn between giving the property the review it deserves, and scaring everyone else away so it's available when we want to go back!
wee have stayed there the past three years and cannot fault it very peaceful great value spoke to owner nothing a problem to her very nice, would recommend it to people wanting a good place to stay out the way of everything great location could not fault it.
This was our second time at Kintore Apartment, so that speaks volumes in itself! It's a great location, extremely comfortable, spacious, clean, well-equipped - everything you might need in a holiday home. The garden is fab too, as are the views. Over many years we have stayed in about 20 various holiday lets in the Dunoon/Innellan area and Kintore is way up at the top of the list of favourites. Thank you!
Third time we have stayed in the cottage. We absolutely love it. Has everything you need and a great location, literally a stones throw from the beach. Would completely recommend.
Myrtle bank villa, is spacious. Very well thought out for families, jigsaw puzzles, games, books, etc. We love staying there, as it is so welcoming and comfortable. It's lovely to sit and have breakfast overlooking the loch. If we went to Dunoon again, this is where we would stay. Tge only drawback is one of the beds has changed since our last visit, not very comfortable to sleep in, as it bows in the middle. Apart from that we would still stay again.
what a wonderful cottage was spotless clean and every thing about it was lovely had 2 nights here with relatives from overseas . quiet wee village full of history.
Very clean everything you could ever need , extremely comfortable bed, easy to use cooker didn't watch much telly as we were happier looking out of the patio doors over the loch watching the fish jumping, the deer grazing and the buzzards soaring. Easy drive to Kames were the village store seems to have everything, short drive to Portavadie then 20 min ferry to Tarbert for a look round the shops. In all a excellent base to explore the area or just sit listen watch and relax . Would recommend this property for a wonderfull relaxing break we will be back !
The location was spectacular I could have sat there all day looking at the view and even though it was February we still sat outside with a cuppa watching the waves. The log burner was really cosy too. Downsides were it was very cold outside of the rooms that didn’t have electric heaters and this made it unpleasant being in the kitchen and the toilet was Baltic. However a certain charm to sitting on the loo with a sea view !!! I think the lack of central heating let’s it down a bit as we arrived late and we were already freezing from a hill walk so took ages to warm up. Also need to look at t...more
This is a house in a nice seafront location, handy for everything in Dunoon and surrounding villages. The host was very helpful and accommodating. Only negative is that the house does need quite a bit of attention as there are many things which don't work or are in poor condition which is a but frustrating because otherwise it would be tremendous.
We were in Hunters Quay in pretty wild February weather. The ever changing views, from all the windows sometimes of blue sky and snow covered Luss hills sometimes of dark grey sky and sea in a blur of rain and squalls were very beautiful and a treat. In the afternoons the sunny conservatory with its view of the secluded garden was a great place for a cup of tea. The cottage is very easy to get to situated 5 minutes from the pier at Hunters Quay . The ferry service from Gourock runs three times an hour, starting early in the morning and running till late at night. In the evenings with the l...more
Lovely quiet location overlooking boatyard and coast of Bute, view is ever changing with clouds, light and boats. Well appointed inside and out (though weather can be poor). Our third stay at Alderside and may well come back again.
The house was one of the best holiday homes we’ve stayed in the view was beautiful and the house it’s self was just out of this world.
Had a fantastic time in Kames over the festive period the lodge was great for our stay with stunning views and log burner to keep us warm would use it again
Lovely restful break. The only noise being the stream at the front of the cottages. Small cottages, each with its own garden.
What a lovely cottage! Val gave us a warm welcome, and showed us around Springburn Cottage, including the children's playroom. This is a very pretty location in Argyll with local facilities to suit everyday needs - and the quiet to enjoy it. The kitchen is well suited to self-catering, although there are plenty of local eating spots. The large bedrooms allowed a good night's sleep on comfy beds. We didn't need to use the washing machine and tumble drier, but for a longer stay (or for walkers in poor weather) this would be a boon. This was our second holiday in Strachur, and I am sure we will b...more
Our main reason for hiring this property was the location, having stayed in other properties in Dunoon we expected a lot from this property but we were disappointed. There was no control for the heating, we tried turning radiators down but it didn’t do anything. Although the bed in the master bedroom was ok my daughter and grandson had to sleep on the floor as their beds were really uncomfortable. The bath in the main bathroom was cracked and the shower head clip did not hold the shower head in place.
This is a beautiful lodge in a stunning location. The views are amazing, regardless of the weather. The owners are very helpful. This was our third visit but will not be our last. Highly recommended.
We enjoyed staying there both times (first with family and secondly with friends) Just two concerns are expressed 1) stone steps (going to upper level) results in a situation of half-a-step passing the bathroom door. Second half of step is on a "next-step-up" situation - for those who are older and or younger children (our grandchild was 4yrs old) can be a potential concern and since there is no handrail between bathroom and final steps to bedroom (due to a cupboard) is of potential concern - we left the bathroom light on all night with door open to ease concern 2) The mattress down s...more
Beautiful location, the cottage is in gorgeous setting. Could easily be 5 star however when we arrived the kitchen worktops had crumbs under toaster and things . The unit doors were dirty from food and needed cleaned. The table cloth was dirty. Dado rail in hall was covered in dust. The worst part was bedrooms are downstairs and the smell of damp was at times wafting up the hall , it was so off putting to sleep in. On the plus the bathroom was beautiful and clean. It just needs deep clean. It was disappointing and did affect how comfortable we felt. The owner was made aware but brushed it off...more
Great cottage and facilities close to lots of great walks, perfect for getting away from it all to relax with great views.
Take plenty of logs or buy them from the Jet Garage down the road as the one storage heater in the living area doesn’t provide enough heat to sufficiently heat this area. Even with the log fire going it was still a bit chilly over the Christmas period that I ended up putting the oven on and leaving the door open to heat the open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area.
Lovely stay .Very comfy ,specious lodge . Excellent location . Lodge has everything what we need and much more . Amaizing view through the window . Thanks Diane
Lovely views, close to Dunoon, regular bus service from site, easy access to Clyde ferry. Very comfortable accommodation.
We had a short stay here recently - but the tranquility and peace of the cottage made it a very refreshing break! The views of the top of the Loch ( especially from upstairs) are gorgeous and it is fantastic to stop and listen to the silence, only broken by the occasional Oystercatcher. At night you can hear owls calling to each other and see the stars. It's not totally remote, but in fact is situated on the roadside in a great position where you can head off in different directions to explore different parts of Argyll. The cottage is warm and comfortable - it has enough things that you need...more
Eight of us had a fantastic time in the accommodation at the Ranch. The accommodation was excellent and very clean and tidy on our arrival. The hot tub was fantastic. The under floor heating in the property meant that it was very cosy all of the time - good as the weather was wet and windy!!! Fantastic to have three bathrooms at the property too. The only thing I would have liked would have been a security light at the front of the property as it was very dark entering the property, particularly as there was a small step on the path which we could not see. Overall an excellent proper...more
Yealand is in a great location but its a bit tired and old fashioned. Too many ornaments and personal items for a holiday home. Enjoyed the table tennis and darts. The views from the house are wonderful. Shame the garden furniture is so uncomfortable. The house is fine for a weekend but a longer stay could be pushing it. There is absolutely no mobile service so makes it difficult if there are any problems. On the plus side having no signal gives you the chance to switch off and relax.
On our arrival at Craigmichael Cottage it was as pretty as the pictures we had seen and its proximity to the pretty coastline of Inellan, even closer than we imagined. The cottage was comfortable and well equipped and the bottle of wine and shortbread biscuits , a lovely touch to welcome us! A good base from which to visit the beautiful places in the nearby vicinity. 'Pucks Glen' and 'Toward Castle' to name just two. A great place to walk our high energy border collie and to see the Seals, Mergansers and Eider ducks among many other wildfowl Only want to mention that the garden, whic...more
We enjoyed our stay in Cladh-a-Mhuillin lodge. The location is good not too far from some lovely scenic places to visit such as Kilbride Bay, Loch Fyne and the Kyle of Bute. You will need a car to go most places. It is an hours walk to the beach, and 40 minutes over the hill to Kames. There are some good eating places nearby (by car) and a good small shop in Kames. The lodge is small and the living room a bit cramped. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. It was cold when we stayed and we needed to use the electric heaters provided to keep warm. The house was very nicely...more
The appartement is old but authentic and therefor ok. The surroundings are beautiful and the gardens are splendid. The Gruffalo Trail and the houses of the Elves were magical for the kids and as it was raining -duh- it was handy that we could do these trails in 'our own back yard'...Inveraray (with a supermarket) is nearby and the loch offers beautiful views. Our children watched 'Waterhorse' of course and were constantly yelling:'That's our castle, I walked on that grass...' Nice!
Lovely lodge in stunning area, very well equipped and all the comforts of home. Ideal base for exploring the area. Red squirrels and deer in the area
Cannot express gratitude and thanks enough to Iain argyle lets and owner for accommodating us at short notice Your kindness is much appreciated The cottage was so homely and location stunning It was so lovely to be able to return and relax at end each day to this restful cosy place Perfect place for us thank you so much
Having a sore ankle, the steps were were not easy on coming down. A light was very much needed to get at the key. The bath could do with a non slip mat or rubber discs. The place soon warmed, with the heating on for about an hour.
Great location to stay and see the town of Dunoon. Just two min from see. Very close to sports activities centre which we used, Morrison, restaurants,Nice and clean apartment.Feels like at home. Thank for the opportunity we had.
We had a wonderful time at the Boat House, cosy with the fireplace, beautiful view (even otters came along) and quiet. We got flowers and herbs from Richard from the garden and also tried some vegetables. :-) Just to be helpfull the following: Some things can be a bit better. The wood for the stove should be a little smaller fore the Boat House or an ax would be helpfull. The kitchen is a bit outdated but still functional. The outside of the house could use a little paint. The windows need to be cleaned at the inside to have an even better view ;-).
No separate toilet contrary to the description. The dinner table was wobbly. We had to screw it back. The WiFi is really poor. The kitchen drawers & the kitchen hood were dirty. Not enough dishes. No replacement for the toaster when it broke down. But lovely situation near the loch & nice welcoming basket
The cottage was quirky, but in need of a make-over. The kitchen needs a deep clean. Because of its location I might recommend it to others.
Great location, good for walks, cycling etc. Very dated and needs some maintenance especially bathroom. Overpriced for what you get.
