The customer service we received has been amazing. The property was fantastic and the lads were definitely comfortable.
I am a country girl from the Wye Valley - I loved it

I have read some of the reviews regarding this Cottage but I do not agree. You will be booking for a secluded cottage steeped in history on the Strachur Estate of Sir Charles Maclean - take a time if you wish to explore its ancestry. The Cottage has been modernized to current standards - kitchen room with all appliances. Some people wish for a microwave on the reviews, maybe that would be the click and ping generation, there is an oven to heat food and, as we found, never needed as there are so many excellent places to eat in the area - Creggans Inn, the Ivner (must book), Otter Ferry Inn, again book, plus many other local cafes etc. My husband is disabled and so the downstairs bedroom and bathroom with shower which was convenient for his needs. A cosy living room with freeview TV and, if it is chilly a lovely fire with wood available in one of the sheds. At last I had the whole of the first floor to myself having a bathroom and a bath plus a second bedroom with excellent hanging places and drawers and allowed occasional visits from our Bengal cat! Fortunately the weather was superb, there was a barbeque that I didn't need but I used the garden furniture - so peaceful - waking up and saying hello to the locals walking through the Estate plus them waking me up as I sunbathed in the garden.
j I thoroughly enjoyed this Cottage - I am a country girl from Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire, never a town person - I have a history in travelling to old Yugoslavia before it was divided so I found the history of Sir Charles mother fascinating (I will be researching further).
ln retrospect - I loved this Cottage, I explored some of the grounds, not enough. As I left the Cottage I felt I left part of my heart there, I say to others, don't disrespect the history of where you are staying, embrace it. And to Sir Charles, (Charles) thank you for sorting our little problems - I may well be in touch with your Estate in the future.
Could be so much better.

The cottage is in a relatively good location, a quiet corner of a sheep farm but within walking distance to amenities including a great pub and restaurant.
The cottage was not very clean and smelt damp, there were crumbs and ants in some kitchen drawers, rubbish under a couch, many utensils were dirty, the kitchen floor had mucky foot prints.... however the sheets and towels were clean which was the main thing.
The whole cottage inside and out needed painting, the perimeter fence was falling apart which meant sheep were often in the garden and their poo was everywhere, therefore dangerous for children and dogs.
There was no microwave as advertised and the shower is uncomfortably small.
A step back in time

The cottage was lovely. Quaint and quirky but still very comfortable with a modern convenient kitchen to cook and eat in and comfy beds. Very rural and secluded setting but still within walking distance of the pub and restaurant.
It felt like stepping back in time to a simpler life, surrounded by countryside, beautiful trees and sheep with lots to do nearby.
