The cottage is attached to the main house is the most stunning grounds with beautiful views of loch Fyne. It is very well equipped with a fabulous kitchen. The website did say there was a tumble dryer and fridge with ice. There is no longer a tumble dryer anda big freezer and new fridge is in place. The 3 bedrooms are pretty and a good size and the beds are so comfy it’s hard to get out of them. Plenty drawer space but lack of wardrobe and hangers. The living room is a mixture of furniture and quite dark - could do with a bit of a makeover. Lovey big bath and good shower with Plenty boiling hot water on tap too. The situation is ideal, good for forest walks. 20 mins to Dunoon and 40 to Inverary by car. The village of Strachur is about a 10 min walk and although small it has an inn/ pub selling lovely food and is dog friendly. I would recommend if you want a quiet away from it all break this is a fabulous dog friendly place to stay.

Quiet setting with excellent accommodation providing 3 sizeable bedrooms.
Plenty to do and see nearby and the house has a small library of books written by both the current owner and his father sir Fitzroy maclean ...all of great interest and history.

We had a wonderful stay at Rhoda's Cottage. The cottage is located on an estate and is attached to the main family home, which has a beautiful outlook onto Loch Fyne. The cottage is close to the Benmore Botanic Gardens, Loch Fyne Oyster Bar, Loch Fyne Brewary Courtyard and beautiful walks in nearby Glenbranter and Pucks Glen - great for doggies. Inside it has a good sized kitchen with modern appliances. The bed was incredibly comfy, the shower good and the linen and towels were great. The estate is owned by the author Sir Charles MacLean and there are several of his books available to read, a lovely touch and quite an experience if you are an avid reader. He even popped over to congratulate us on our marriage with a thoughtful gift. We felt like our space was really private and we often sat out in the evenings enjoying the view and peace and quiet. A few minor points of feedback, there was a smell of kerosene, probably from the Aga and something most homes with agas have, it may also be helpful to clarify if guests can access the main house garden or not in the literature. We also couldn't find a BBQ but we didn't ask to be fair and we bought some little disposable packs that did the job. A fabulous stay - wish it was two weeks instead of one. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a private, homely base from which to explore Cowal and beyond!
