Grosvenor cottage in unspoilt Herefordshire countryside. A spacious, stylishly furnished cottage with open plan living/dining room and full kitchen. First floor enormous super-king master bedroom with sofa plus a single bedroom (snore room) and bathroom. Own private courtyard garden for dining/star gazing. Use of fabulous walled garden, furnished glasshouse and parkland with specimen trees. Tour the Wye Valley and enjoy the many activities in the Forest of Dean. Child and dog friendly. EV charger and easy level parking. Great local pubs.

What a lovely, comfortable cottage in a fabulous location with everything you could possibly need. All the team have been so welcoming, helpful and friendly and nothing has been too much trouble to ensure our stay has been comfortable. We’ve had such a lovely time and there are so many great places to visit in easy reach of the cottage…we couldn’t have asked for more! Thank you, this is definitely one to return to!

Had a relaxing stay at Grosvenor. Lovely place, great garden with loads of seating. Wonderful hosts not forgetting Breeze who loved playing with our dog, Doug.
We have recommended the cottages to some friends.
Great cycling round here with a locked shed to store my bike.
Loads of National Trust and other properties in the area.
Loved it!

Another fab stay at Wharton Lodge, a perfect place to get away from it all and just chill. The standards here are very high and the team work so hard at keeping it that way, there is absolutely nothing to worry about. A very warm welcome on arrival, our cottage was immaculate and spotlessly clean and we were lucky enough with the weather to make use of the private courtyard at the rear of the cottage. It’s always a pleasure to sit in the walled garden which looked amazing and colourful.

This occasion we had the company of our 6 year grandson and therefore viewed our stay from a different perspective.
The welcome for him was outstanding and the location was perfect for all the expectations which a 6 year old has for life

Just returned from a super week staying in Grosvenor Cottage at Wharton Lodge. The cottage is beautifully furnished, immaculately clean with lovely views over the parkland and everything you could need for a relaxing stay. The garden is beautiful, we felt we were at a National Trust Property, there’s the Orangery which is available for guests to use, perfect for the evening or if the weather is changeable. Nicky and George are very helpful and informative on local things to do! This is our 3rd visit, would highly recommend the lovely Cottages! Thank you to you both and all your staff for a very enjoyable stay!

We had a lovely stay. The cottage is excellent. Beautifully appointed. Calm and peaceful. This is our seventh stay so we keep returning. The setting is idyllic with a beautifully kept wall garden and conservatory and park land surrounding. Also Nick and George and team provide great support. Highly recommended.

I was so glad I found these 5* cottages online as, although we take our small dog on holiday with us, we try to find the best accommodation possible and that isn't always easy. Nicky and George were so welcoming and friendly and their gardens, which we had the use of, are just beautiful. Grosvenor cottage was everything we could have hoped for and of the very highest standard. We would definitely stay there again if we revisited the area.

Our third stay at Wharton Lodge, this time our first in Grosvenor, the previous two have been in Elgar, but this was already booked this time. Grosvenor is just as beautiful and comfortable. A real home from home. We had a wonderful stay, Nicky, George and the team at Wharton Lodge are wonderful hosts and have become friends! We love it there and will definitely be returning.

This was our 3rd stay in Grosvenor. It truly is one of our favourite destinations. The standard of hospitality provided by Nicky, George and the team is outstanding. The furnishings are classically comfortable. The kitchen utensils are plentiful. The shower is everything you would want and so seldom see in a holiday cottage. The welcome pack is plentiful!! Absolutely everything has been thought of to give the current Grosvenor resident an extremely comfortable stay.
Our dog Kali loved the freedom of the paddock and her occasional run around with Breeze and Haribo.
Even with the wet December weather we got out and about to Hereford, Ross on Wye and Symonds Yat. Lovely to come back to Grosvenor to warm up though.
We are already planning our return in the fairer weather

We stayed at Grosvenor for the 7th time. What more do you have to say?! It is undoubtedly the best accommodation we have ever stayed at: spotlessly clean, wonderfully cosy and welcoming with an immaculately kept garden romantically illuminated at night and a field at close hand for the dog to run in. This is more than a home from home, this is a home you would like to own yourself. Nicky and her team always go that extra mile to give you a fantastic and enjoyable holiday. We loved our stay at the cottage, thank you! The cottage was a perfect base for exploring the Forest of Dean with our toddler. The cottage itself was beautifully clean and comfortable and Nicky and George were so welcoming. It is rare to get such a personal welcome and we appreciated the ideas and recommendations for things to do nearby. We loved the walk up May Hill - absolutely stunning! Also lovely to have use of the shared gardens and to be able to walk through the field. We'd definitely recommend!

Another wonderful stay at Wharton Lodge. Everything here is top notch and kept that way, nothing shabby here, even the out buildings are lovingly cared for. The gardens are lovely at any time of year but they looked particularly beautiful and colourful on our visit last week. We stayed in Grosvenor and it was absolutely spotless, the attention to detail is second to none, everyone must work so hard to keep it so nice. We were able to eat most of our meals outside in the private courtyard which was most enjoyable.
There are lots of things to do in the Wye Valley and Wharton Lodge is just the perfect place to stay and relax. A huge thanks to Nicky, George and all the team who made our stay so special, I can’t praise this place enough, it way exceeds its 5* Gold award.

All three cottages are perfect for a relaxing holiday, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. We stayed here for 3 nights in April. We received a very warm welcome from Nicky along with a very useful hamper containing bread, butter, milk, eggs, wine etc. The accommodation is very comfortable, cosy and clean, the bed huge with quality bedding and the beautiful grounds are spacious enough to take the dogs for a walk (and can take them in the fields beyond the boundary). The electric vehicle charger is really useful to charge the car overnight without the need to hunt for one elsewhere. There's masses to do and see in the area. We would have preferred a walk-in shower (as my husband is a bit doddery) but appreciate that owing to the size of a bathroom this isn't always possible, but other than that very minor issue, a perfect stay.

A return visit to the wonderful Grosvenor at Wharton Lodge. Every last detail has been considered from the generous welcome hamper, the quality and amount of crockery, cutlery and utensils, lovely furniture, luxury bedding and towels and such a comfortable bed. The cottage is so relaxing and homely. The gardens (even in March) are beautiful and extremely well tended. Kali loved the paddock and running around with Breeze.

We cannot recommend WL Cottages enough. We travelled with our dog for my birthday and had a wonderful week. Nicky, George and the team are the perfect hosts with the perfect property in the perfect location. From the moment we arrived until we departed we felt so welcome. The app for the property is a fantastic tool too. We have stayed at many properties in the area and WL is by far our favourite. Wonderful grounds to enjoy with our dog (even in the snow!). We will certainly return.

We liked staying with Nicky and George so much we stayed twice in one month. Beautiful cottages that were equiped like your own home. Very friendly hosts with lots of local knowledge. I cannot recommend them enough. If you do book, book a day or two extra because you’ll not want to leave.

Extraordinary place to stay. We stayed in Grosvenor cottage which is dog friendly with its own courtyard, and our dog enjoyed as much as we did. The cottages are set in beautiful grounds and had an electric car charger which was amazing for us. The owners are very very helpful and friendly and are always at hand. A welcome pack is also provided on arrival which we very much appreciated. The cottages are a short drive or bus journey away from Ross on Wye and there are an abundance of walks in and around the area. We really enjoyed our stay x

All three cottages are always spotlessly cleaned by Joyce and Linda. With lovely flowers and an excellent welcome pack to start us off for a relaxing holiday, The gardens are beautifully well kept to enjoy a quiet walk around or just to sit in and relax with a good book for a few hours. This is by far the best 5 star accommodation we have stayed in.
Nicky and George are very welcoming and excellent hosts, and always make sure we have everything we need.
This has been our fifth stay at Wharton Lodge and certainly not our last visit. We have already booked for next year. Whatever time of year there is always somewhere interesting to explore in Herefordshire and the surrounding area. With plenty of excellent walks either from the cottages or further away by driving to other villages.

We haved stayed at Wharton Lodge Cottages for many years and continue to be impressed by the very high standard of accommodation, cleanliness and attention to detail in all the three cottages in which we have relaxed over the years.
Our hosts Nicky and George together with their wonderful team,have always been extremely informative, helpful and accommodating during our stays.
Whether you just want to chill or are very active , there is plenty to see and do locally or as far a field as you wish to travel in the nearby counties. Personally I'm happy with a little bit of retail therapy.
One word to describe the whole experience here is 'Impeccable '

Grosvenor was an excellent place for us to stop for a week away. We chose it as it would allow us to tour the locality in our EV with the offer of a charging point which worked really well. Wharton Lodge is a fabulous place to stay at any time of the year, the standards are very high and the owners are really lovely people who are always happy to help but are in no way intrusive.
We had a lovely warm welcome on arrival and were provided with a fantastic hamper of goodies.
Wharton Lodge is in a superb location, just on the edge of the Forest of Dean and only a couple of miles outside Ross on Wye which is a lovely place to visit & take a stroll by the river.
The cottage was spotlessly clean as always, the huge bed is super comfy and we had everything we needed for our stay. Everything here is top quality both inside and outside the cottage, the team work extremely hard to make everyone’s stay happy.
I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone and would give it way more than 5 stars.

Grosvenor Cottage is a very special place to stay - everything is absolutely first class! Nicky and George are superb hosts; very friendly and sociable and offer lots of helpful advice for visiting the local area. The cottage, gardens and parkland are all beautiful and immaculate. Our dog had a wonderful time too and was made extremely welcome. Great location from which to explore the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. We have often rented self catering holiday accommodation; Grosvenor our cottage at Wharton Lodge tops them all.Comfort, environment of the cottages ,location and Nicky and George the host and hostess were superb.We arrived a little stressed from life's activities but left fully relaxed and our personal batteries restored.

Another excellent stay. Weather perfect. No rain. The cottage (Grosvenor) is excellent and we have been several times in recent years. Beautiful location with walled garden, conservatory and parkland. Cottage is very well equipped and provision has been made for every item imaginable. Bed very comfortable and everything very clean. Hosts Nicky and George are perfect. Would recommend to anyone. Peaceful and tranquil.

Besides being in a perfect setting and lovely area with very hospitable owners on hand this cottage wins on lots of other areas. Firstly no " do not signs" everywhere, i don't need to be told not to smoke. All jars of coffee, sugar etc full. Dishwasher tabs and cleaning products in plentiful supply. it's a real pain having to purchase a load of cleaning stuff for one week. Nice touches like fresh flowers and lovely useful welcome pack much appreciated. Lovely soft towels and quality bedding. A lovely area for dog walking with plenty of good eateries close by. Will definitely visit again when in this area.

We enjoyed a very relaxing stay in Grosvenor. Nicky and George were excellent hosts - it was lovely to chat to them . We also enjoyed the company of Tilly, Bo and Breeze - beautifully behaved labradors.
The cottage was immaculate and very well furnished. We really appreciated being able to enjoy lovely walks from our doorstep. It was very pleasant having coffee in the glasshouse in the beautiful walled garden.
Wharton Lodge is also very well placed to enjoy the local area.

The outstanding reviews for WL grabbed our attention. The website and booking process were very straight forward. Nicky phoned us to confirm our booking at Grosvenor. What a lovely personal touch. The digital guide book sent in advance of our stay was very comprehensive. What a great idea - even in non Covid times.
On arrival at WL we were met by Nicky who gave us a quick guided tour. The cottage was exceptional. Everything was fresh and spotlessly clean. The welcome pack was extremely generous - thank you! The cottage was very well equipped throughout with high quality appliances. We were very cosy throughout our stay despite storms Dudley and Eunice doing their worst.
Perfect location for visiting Ross, Monmouth and Ledbury. Gardens are great and Kali loved the freedom the field gave her. She is missing her runs with Breeze. We had an excellent break and will certainly return.

... yep booked Tuesday and arrived Thursday!
Nicky was great helping with the booking process, we had vouchers that needed validating etc - we even had a phone chat at 9pm on the Tuesday evening - that's what you call customer service.
Unfortunately when we got to them it was pitch dark, so it wasn't till the next morning that we could really appreciate our surroundings, made even more spectacular with the heavy frost and freezing mist that morning. Nicky was around to run through everything, where the facilities were, including their park to walk our dogs round first thing in the morning.
One part of the stay, is that Nicky was always available, as was George, to answer any questions, or some nugget of a recommendation on what to do or where to go - always there but never ever intrusive. Ideal!
Cottage is v comfortable and cosy, and the bed was one of the biggest we have had in a rented cottage.. Great bathroom, and loads of hot water.
There was one evening where we had a bit of an issue with the WIFI and the tv, but it seemed to right itself, so I think as with this sort of issue you have to perceiver, and rebooting usual sorts - another couple of mentions in the visitors book mentioned the issue, but it is a small issue for sure.
We will be back for sure for another weekend - and we'll be staying in Grosvenor

We stayed at Grosvenor for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year, with our 6 month old and 2 year old. The cottage is beautifully presented and felt like a home away from home. A few special touches jump to mind - the wonderful housekeeper Joyce who decorated the house for Christmas; Nancy allowing us to use her perfectly trained pooches to entertain our toddler and being included in Christmas drinks. If we could, we would stay here multiple times every year! It blew us away.

We stayed in Grovesnor cottage. The stay was everything one could hope for from a holiday. We have stayed in many cottages but there is usually something which one can point to which detracts from the cottage, or the location. Here there is nothing, and what makes the stay at Wharton Lodge particularly special is the friendly and attentive hosts who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Nothing is too much trouble. The cottage was clean and comfortable. The welcome hamper was generous, and the kitchen well equipped. All the appliances worked, there were slippers and gowns, and fresh flowers in vases. Although our arrival was unavoidably delayed until late evening, Nicky was there to greet us, and during the week provided us with lots of information about the area. Both Nicky and George were very friendly and helpful. The weather was good and we spent some time in the well maintained walled garden and glasshouse.

What a beautiful place to stay. The garden and conservatory were such an amazing bonus. Nicky and George were the most lovely attentive hosts. The cottage had everything thing we needed for a lovely comfortable stay, including a bowl and towel for our dog. It was thoroughly clean and the Covid-19 adaptations were thoughtful. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area and the digital guide is really helpful. Highly recommended.

Really enjoyed our latest stay at Wharton Lodge - Nicky, George and the team always go the extra mile to make sure that everything is perfect for their guests. The cottage and the gardens were in excellent condition and the additional measures taken to safeguard guests in these difficult times were much appreciated. Long awaited return visit to this wonderful cottage and it more than lived up to our expectations. No need to worry about cleanliness here, the standards are exceptional, we felt totally safe.
Wharton Lodge is the perfect place to chill and unwind but there is plenty to do in the surrounding area and loads of interesting places to explore. The gardens here are stunning and immaculately kept and there is plenty of space to sit and relax.
The welcome hamper was far superior to any other cottage we have stayed in and the kitchen is so well equipped.
The huge bed in Grosvenor is so comfortable and the pillows are amazing. I can’t compliment the housekeepers Joyce & Linda enough, they do a fantastic job.
The owners, Nicky & George, really do go the extra mile to make everyone welcome and have an enjoyable stay. It was so good to be back in this beautiful cottage in a perfect location. Thanks to all the Team

We loved our stay at Wharton Cottages, from the warm welcome to the luxurious interiors, the friendliest of labradors and the stunning walled gardens, this was the perfect escape after a long lockdown winter. Nicky and George could not have done more to make us feel welcome and to relax with our 2 and 4 year old boys. The Grosvenor Cottage was ideal and a good quality cot bed, high-chair and stairgates were provided to make it child-friendly in a stylish, grown-up way. We spent a week exploring the area and will certainly return again in the future as there is so much to experience.

It was such an enjoyable stay at Wharton Lodge cottages. It was very much appreciated as it was our first time away since lockdown!
Everything was perfect. The hosts, the cottage, the friendly staff, and the lovely garden. Nothing was too much trouble.
Our only regret was that we were unable to stay longer. We have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.

A very comfortable 4 night stay. We were impressed with the spacious accommodation and the facilities in Grosvenor- very well equipped as well. Only issue was the WiFi where the signal was weak and dropped out on a couple of occasions.

We had a wonderful stay at Wharton Lodge Cottages. The cottage was clean and included all the home comforts we needed for our stay. Given the current pandemic we felt that every effort had been made to ensure that the cottage was covid safe which was really reassuring. We were travelling with our toddler and the cottage was well set up for him with a cot in the bedroom and a high chair for meals. Nicky and George were very welcoming and provided helpful tips on places to visit in this fantastic location. The welcome basket was also a lovely touch. We look forward to visiting again!

We have had another fantastic stay at Wharton Lodge. Nicky and George are wonderful hosts.
In the midst of the first lockdown we made a list of the places where we wanted to return and where we would feel safe. Wharton Lodge was high on the list, we knew that Nicky would put all the measures required in place, and she did. The housekeeping staff are brilliant.
Nicky knew that it was my birthday and on that day there was a card and a present waiting for me, how kind was that.
We had some of the freezer meals Nicky has on offer, they were fabulous and Joyce's apple pie was out of this world!.
We enjoyed our stay in out safe place.
Thank you all at Wharton Lodge, we'll be back.

Although we have lost count of the number of visits we have made to W.L. over the years it is always a joy to return. Due to such unsettled times we were looking forward to our stay more than ever this year. We knew Grosvenor would be as immaculate as usual because the standard is always very high and, due to Covid 19, the cottage had extra cleaning, which made us feel perfectly safe. The welcome we received from Nicky, George, the Team, and the dogs was as warm as ever, and this year we were greeted with great enthusiasm by Breeze the new puppy.
The weather was great so we were able to enjoy sitting in the beautiful garden.

Just back from another wonderful stay at Wharton Lodge, in Grosvenor cottage. The care and attention to detail provided by Nicky, George and the team are always first class but they've gone even further in these difficult times to make sure that everything is done to ensure the safety and comfort of their guests - the cottage was cleaned to a fantastic standard in accordance with new cleaning protocols and there was even dedicated seating allocated for our sole use in the beautiful gardens. We really had the most wonderful break at Grosvenor Cottage, at Wharton Lodge. The pretty cottage itself has a lovely cosy feel to it, without being small. The modern and super equipped kitchen/dining area (which Nicky has loaded with supplies and flowers!) leads onto a very comfortable living area with a lovely fire. The master bedroom is huge with a superking bed, down duvets and the best pillows ever. The single bedroom was equally lovely, we all slept sooo well! The pretty bathroom has a great power shower!
All of these rooms have great views too...
Nicky’s attention to detail was something else, she has thought of, and supplied, everything you could possibly need.
We spent quite a bit of time in the beautiful walled garden with Nicky’s three dogs - Bo, Breeze and Tilly. My daughter was in heaven, but if you prefer, Grosvenor has its own private walled courtyard.
Nicky and George are really the most wonderful hosts you could ask for. Very knowledgeable of the local area and helpful with questions you may have, but also totally unobtrusive.
Nicky has established a great system with regard to Covid-19 which instilled us with total confidence.
Another point to mention was that although the cottages are dog friendly there was absolutely no odour at all of dogs. As someone who doesn’t have one, I notice these things.
All in all I really couldn’t recommend this place more. I will definitely be planning to come back and I’ll be looking forward to seeing Nicky and George and the dogs too!

I booked Wharton Lodge as I searched for dog-friendly accommodation & my wife is high risk/vulnerable (to COVID-19) & I thought the Wye Valley would be quieter than other areas like Cornwall or the Lakes. The cottage was perfect for the 3 of us + dog & we felt really comfortable everything had been cleaned & we were as safe as possible. The walled garden is beautiful & surrounding fields are great for dog walks. The location is ideal for the Wye Valley & Forest of Dean & Nicky & George are very friendly hosts who provided lots of useful info on places to go & things to do. Hope to visit again in future.

We have visited WL a number of times now and have stayed in both of the pet friendly cottages - The Harewoood and The Grosvenor. As a matter of fact we have other stays booked this year , because we enjoy it so much. The accomodation is always spotlessly clean , well maintained and has everything you need for a SC holiday or short break. The whole package is truly fabulous with so much thought , attention to detail and hard work put into making the guests stay as charming as it can possibly be ....

Nicky and George are great hosts and are supported by a small team of outstanding people who have worked so hard to bring about a holiday enviroment that has been so affected by the Covid pandemic. That said , the requirements of the Covid restrictions have not in anyway affected our enjoyment of WL. But without the hard work and effort of everyone involved , our relaxation and enjoyment would not have been possible.

So many thanks to you all for once again making our stay such a pleasure. I can not recommend Wharton Lodge highly enough , we love it and will be returning time and time again.

A fantastic and well equipped holiday cottage set in the wonderful rural county of Herefordshire. Nikki and George are excellent hosts and welcome dogs to walk in the adjoining parkland where there is a good variety of interesting trees. The walled garden with an abundant array of bulbs etc is a good place to relax with a cup of coffee and a good book.
The Wharton Lodge Team make sure that you are well looked after and keep everything running smoothly.

We decided to have a peaceful Christmas away from home this year, for the first time in 30 years, and were absolutely delighted to have found Wharton Lodge. We stayed at Grosvenor cottage where our every need was catered for, and every detail to ensure our comfort had been carefully attended to. The cottage was spotlessly clean, and a wonderful welcome hamper was waiting for us, containing everything we needed to start a fantastic Christmas week.Nicky and George were kindness itself to us, even before we arrived they went to great trouble sourcing out out a place where we could book a table for Christmas lunch, and then also invited us in to join them for a drink on the morning of Christmas Day. Throughout our stay when we bumped into them, they checked to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed, and we certainly did!!The huge bed was so comfortable it was like sleeping on a cloud.The lovely Christmas tree and the stunning decor throughout the cottage was first class, and throughout our stay we were made to feel very welcome and very much at home.
The lovely dogs Beau and Tilley were the icing on the cake for our perfect holiday! We were so delighted to have found Wharton Lodge,and so convinced that we will never find anywhere better, that we have already booked in for next Christmas!

This must be our tenth visit to Wharton Lodge over the years.
We have always received a very warm welcome from the owners. The hamper they provide is a real "Get you Started" supply.
All rooms are very comfortable and in fact they now have a new very large bed in the master bedroom.
I think the fact that we have been back so many times speaks for itself and we particularly like the fact that the hosts always treat you like old friends and are very welcoming,

Nicky's cottage at Wharton Lodge was so gorgeous and very spacious and clean. By far the best we've ever stayed at and in a wonderful location with excellent, very helpful hosts. There were treats for both us and our dog. Everything was exceptionally clean. There are wonderful, big gardens and fields around us for walking and near to Ross on Wye. Without doubt Nicky's cottages are a place we Cooper would happily stay at again. Thank you Nicky.

We have visited, the Grosvenor 5 Times since 2009 and it gets even better everytime. Nicky is lovely, and very helpful, and also very knowledgeable. Always on hand, to answer your questions. This is a wonderful place to stay at, ideally situated to visit the local towns, such as Ross, and Monmouth. I cannot recommend the Grosvenor enough, the dogs are so friendly and the housekeepers, are very professional, and set themselves, very high standards. The Gardens, are excellent and are always well presented. We cannot wait, to return as soon, as possible.

Oud third visit to Wharton Lodge was again a fabulous one. The host (Nicky) is absolutely wonderful and welcoming. This time we stayed in Grosvenor which is a great cottage. Most wonderful feature of Wharton Lodge is the splendid garden. A great place to relax and unwind.

We arrived for a 3 week stay in July and so wish we could have stayed longer. There is nothing we can fault Wharton Lodge cottages for and can only sing its praises. Probably the most comfortable cottage we have stayed at with everything you could wish for and more. Our hosts, Nicky and George (and the team) were amazing and especially accommodating to our musical daughter with all of her comings and goings. As for Tilly and Beau, the most gorgeous labradors, we miss them the most. Beautiful surroundings in and around the cottage meant we were not only able to totally relax and enjoy our stay but also the sunsets, the walled gardens, the delights of Ross (the cocktail bar was excellent) and the Forest of Dean, not to mention the Moody Cow pub. We will definitely return as we have so many areas we didn’t get to and so many things we need to repeat. Many thanks to you all and we shall see you again.

Hosts Nicky and George could not have been more welcoming and friendly. Housekeeping is superb, everything in the cottage and outside is beautifully cared for, the gardens are immaculate. Good welcome pack, everything you could possibly need in the kitchen equipment should you wish to cook. A really lovely stay and we would recommend to anybody and everybody and we would love to return.

We stayed for 10 days in June. Superbly appointed cottage. Very tastefully decorated and kept beautifully clean and maintained. Everything has been thought about and provided by Nicki. This is our third visit and it is always a pleasure to return. The walled garden is a beautiful place to relax and read. Lots to see and explore in the area and countryside has marvellous scenery and walks. Highly recommended.

I can’t praise the team at Wharton Lodge enough & no wonder it is awarded 5* Gold year on year. It is such a special place and once there you never want to leave. Everything is top quality & nothing is too much trouble, it’s all about guest comfort and enjoyment from the minute you enter the premises. The cottages and grounds are immaculate and we were lucky enough to enjoy both the exquisite walled garden (it’s always a pleasure to chill out here) and our charming private courtyard. As always, we had a very warm welcome on arrival from the owners and on top of that we had a beautifully presented food hamper and fresh flowers in the cottage. This is self catering at its best and certainly ticks all the boxes if you want to chill out and recharge those batteries. We love the surrounding area too, Ross is a lovely town in a picturesque setting by the River Wye and The local people are always making improvements to make this a great place for visitors.
Thanks to all the team who made our stay so special.

This was our 5th or 6th stay at Wharton Lodge - our first in Grosvenor. It won’t be our last!

Grosvenor offers its guests a generous living space and the usual - now familiar - high levels of comfort, attention to detail and immaculate presentation and levels of cleanliness we know to expect of Wharton Lodge.

It has beautiful views upstairs and down, including a garden view from the bathroom - making even the mundane business of teeth brushing a delight.

The indifferent weather this time proved that, rain or shine, WL is the perfect get away.

As always, the team’s warm welcome and Nicky’s thoughtful extra touches helped us to feel at home as soon as the car engine stopped. Loved Joyce’s Easter arrangement - thank you!

Alas this visit was all too short, but it worked its magic despite its brevity.

This is the third time of staying at Grosvenor Cottage and as always we were extremely comfortable and well looked after. The cottage is well equipped and in a great location, with many dog friendly pubs in the area and great walks. Nicky and George are great at providing recommendations for places to go, and it’s a lovely area to visit. We hope to be back again!

We have stayed here many times in the past and will many times in the future. The accommodation is always spotless, is constantly being refreshed and updated and justifies the cost by the level of luxury provided. If you want to give your dog the best of all holidays this is the place to be. Fantastic walks all around together with dog friendly pubs and restaurants.

My Wife and I have stayed at Wharton Lodge Cottages about 14 times which really says it all. The welcome from Nicky and George,the owners, is always very warm and genuine and nothing is too much trouble.The cottages are superbly well equipped and spotlessly clean. The Italianate gardens are magnificent.
The location is ideal for many wonderful pubs and restaurants and for numerous places of interest. Two of the cottages are dog friendly and both have their own courtyard which is most useful in the Summer months.
We would definitely recommend these cottages to anyone looking for a relaxing or even more energetic holiday in beautiful surroundings.

Spent a wonderful long weekend at Wharton Lodge Cottages to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday.
From the warm welcome when we arrived to the wave off when we left, our stay was just perfect.
The cottage was the most warm, comfortable and luxurious haven we could wish for. The views and grounds outside were wonderful. My son just loved running around the woods and using Nickys tree swing!
The welcome hamper was fantastic, full of great quality, yummy food and drinks.
Nicky and George were so welcoming and knowledgeable about the local area.
Ian had a fab birthday. We all felt super spoilt all weekend.
We will definitely return and can't recommend a stay here enough!

Another fantastic stay at Wharton Lodge - in the past, we've had a long weekend in the run up to Christmas but, this year, we treated ourselves to a full week in Grosvenor and enjoyed every moment. As usual, the team at WL provided first class service with everything from the attention to preferences in the welcome hamper to the Christmas decorations to the freshly dug parsnips! We knew on our first visit almost twenty years ago that we had found a very special place. We have recently returned from our second visit this year, the latest of many in Grosvenor. Wharton Lodge cottages are just the place to totally relax and unwind. Everything is top quality and spotlessly clean. The cottages, gardens and grounds are immaculate and lovingly cared for. Nicky and George, the owners are just fabulous hosts and have lots of interesting facts and information about the area if you need it. They are backed up by the A TEAM, who all take pride in their work to make your stay just perfect. We had a lovely warm welcome on arrival and even the dogs Tilly and Bo (who are so well behaved) were happy to see us. I can’t praise this place enough it ticks every box & that is why we keep returning.

This was our second stay in this cottage in nine months and it was excellent. Everything is thought of in equipping the beautiful cottage and it is comfortable, beautifully appointed and we were looked after admirably. Wharton Lodge is warm and welcoming from the start. With a glass of local pear juice in hand we toured the lovely gardens.. ours to enjoy for the stay. Nicky and George Cross have created a family home that welcomes guests in their 3 well appointed cottages. Our 4th visit to this wonderful cottage and we are already counting down to the next later in the year.
On arrival we were greeted by Nicky and George (the owners) and we immediately felt at home. Grosvenor is immaculate throughout, the decor and soft furnishings are beautiful and the place is spotlessly clean. The housekeepers here do an amazing job. The gardens are immaculate and it was lovely to relax in the walled garden with an early morning cuppa, there are plenty of seating areas both in sunny spots and the shade and the orangery is simply delightful.
There are lots of lovely places nearby, and Nicky who is so knowledgeable on the local area will happily give useful tips.
We feel so lucky to have found this amazing place that ticks so many boxes, so well done Nicky, George and all the team at Wharton Lodge for the consistently high standards and the great care you take of your visitors.

We've just returned from another wonderful stay at Wharton Lodge. We love everything about the place - the warmth of the welcome, the quality of the accommodation, the beautiful gardens and grounds - Nicky and her team do everything possible to make their guests comfortable and their attention to detail and personal preferences is first class. Our next holiday in Grosvenor is already booked!

We have just had another week's stay in Grosvenor, the latest of many over the years. The minute we drive through the gates of Wharton Lodge we relax. We always get such a lovely warm welcome from Nicky, George & Joyce that we feel as though we are visiting friends. We also know that should any problems occur they will always be happy to help. The cottage is beautifully maintained & so comfortable. We love the walled courtyard, the view across the park, & being able to sit in a great garden. We loved seeing the Labradors Tilly & Beau again. We have known four generations of the dogs since our very first visit. We will be back again, you've not seen the last of us yet Nicky & George!

We stayed at Grosvenor for the New Year and it was a very relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable holiday. The cottage is great, Nicky has thought of absolutely everything: ranging from Christmas decorations to a bowl for our dog, you name it/ I can't think of anything that we missed. The cottage is furnished to a high standard and very cosy. Nicky was always there if we needed her, but she respected our privacy. She is a wonderful person who takes great care of all her guests. Our dog Barley had the best time ever, being able to run around the parkland and there are also numerous great walks nearby. There are so many other positives to mention, but the best thing to do is to go and experience it for yourself!

I booked my cottage for the Christmas week so I could keep close to my son, his wife and my grandchildren. I really did have a wonderful stay. The cottage was decorated for Christmas, so it looked really lovely. It was fantastically clean and they really had thought of everything. Nicky couldn't have been more helpful. She was there if I needed her but otherwise I felt like I had the whole estate to myself. Wonderful. I would love to book again and I have no doubt that I will, this time I hope to take my new husband with me. His birthday is in March so maybe we will head up there then. I would highly recommend and quite honestly I wished I lived there!

Another delightful stay at Wharton Lodge, enjoying the first class hospitality that Nicky, George and the team always provide. The accommodation was beautifully presented, complete with Christmas tree and decorations. Everything you need to know about Wharton Lodge Cottages is reflected in the fact that we booked two further holidays there immediately we got home from this one!

Grosvenor Cottage is a beautiful warm and well maintained cottage with a wonderful walled garden, and surrounded by parkland. The owners Nicky and George are most helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The cottage is close to the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean, but it also has easy access to the Western Cotswolds, Cheltenham, Great Malvern and the Slimbridge Wetland Centre - all of which we visited.
Although we did not bring our dog; dogs are most welcome, which is quite unusual for quality cottages. The welcome pack is excellent, the best we have ever received. Altogether an excellent holiday cottage.

Wharton Lodge is a truly special place. The standards here are so high and the cottage we stayed in (Grosvenor) was immaculate, we felt like we were the very first visitors in it. The housekeeper is amazing & all the staff go the extra mile to make sure that guests have a good experience. The owners really do care about their guests and want them to enjoy their time at Wharton Lodge. We had a lovely warm welcome from George, Nicky and the team, the garden looked beautiful and everywhere was just perfect. We were so happy to be back, this place is just perfect for relaxing and recharging the batteries, there are plenty of places to visit in the surrounding area and it is equally nice just to sit in the walled garden and chill out. Absolutely perfect

We stayed at Wharton lodge in Grosvenor cottage for our 25th wedding anniversary with our daughter and our scottie dog. The cottage was excellent and the surroundings so peaceful.
Nicky and George went above and beyond as hosts. We have stayed in several premier cottages but this was the most modern and clean with outstanding furnishings and beautiful views.
We would highly recommend a stay at Wharton Lodge cottages.

We had not visited this area before but was pleased we did. The week we were there flew by and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Grosvenor cottage was lovely, the attention to detail was very much appreciated. We especially enjoyed walking in the walled garden and using the orangery. Walking with our dog Dylan in the early morning around the extensive grounds was a great start to the day - spotting the heron and buzzard added to the pleasure. The setting is simply stunning, a beautiful place and very relaxing.

I cannot say enough good things about our stay. The warm and perfectly appointed cottage sits on beautiful, quiet grounds. The proprietor is unbelievably accommodating and wonderful. On a two month trip, this was our favorite week by far and hope to return!

The gardens are a delight and we were able to enjoy them every day in lovely weather. We've just returned from another great holiday staying at Grosvenor Cottage - you'd be struggling to find a more beautiful location with such great facilities. The cottage is luxurious and dog friendly, and was perfect for a family of 3 plus dog! The grounds and formal gardens are beautiful, with parkland beyond [perfect for pets and children]. Nicky and George always have great recommendations for places to visit and eat, and there are some lovely walks and pubs within a short distance. We definitely hope to go back for more stays!!

The cottage was an amazing find. Beautifully decorated, clean as a whistle, comfortable and warm. The welcome from George and Nicky was fantastic and they were so helpful and keen to make sure our stay was as good as it could be. Everything had been thought of from a welcome pack of lovely breakfast goods to a bowl and towel for the dog. The park the cottages sit in is huge and good for stretching your legs or exercising the dog. Thoroughly recommended for a relaxing break in a peaceful setting.

Our cottage, Grosvenor, was everything we hoped for and more. Set amidst lovely grounds with a park a short stroll away it was an ideal spot to chill out with our dog.over Christmas. Delightfully decorated and very comfortable with all mod cons. Nicky & George, the owners made us feel so welcome, even inviting us into the main lodge on Christmas morning for drinks. Lovely walks in the vicinity too, the Forest of Dean is only a short drive away. An excellent few days away, will definitely be going back.

We booked a 3 night stay with our dog Mickey.
Grosvenor is a fabulous 2 bed cottage with good sized rooms and a nice powerful shower.
The kitchen is comprehensive, clean and very well equipped
Parking is a breeze, walking the dog across the fields is handy, the gardens are beautiful and the location quite perfect.
Nicky is a very generous and kind host, we felt that even though our visit was short, we had made a friend.
Whenever we are in need of a stay in the area - we wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.

We spent a fortnight at Wharton Lodge Cottages and this was by all means one of the best holidays we have ever had. I can hardly put into words how exceptional our stay has been: Grosvenor cottage has everything your heart desires: excellent furnishings, comfortable and elegant, all rooms beautifully decorated with great thought to detail, well equipped and spotlessly clean. On our arrival we even had the bonus of a welcome hamper (very much appreciated after our long journey from Gemany)
The garden was also well kept and lovely to sit in. But the real wow factor is the people who run this place: Nicky and George are two kind, attentive and generous hosts giving us a very warm welcome, showing us round and providing us with fresh fruit and vegetables from the garden( bliss!) Also the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
We truly had a memorable time and we can't thank Nicky and George enough. Annabelle, our Vizsla bitch, who was allowed to stay with us - as Grosvenor is a dog-friendly accommodation - also enjoyed each and every minute.

The welcome was superb, Nicky was a wonderful hostess. Property is superbly appointed. Private courtyard is lovely for evening meals and morning coffee whilst the grounds themselves of Wharton Lodge are spectacular. Well kept and beautiful to look at and to relax in day or into the evening. "Dogs Welcomed" ! This was a huge part of us booking here as we want our time away with our black labrador, Stanley to be fun and luxurious rather than having to stay at home or camp in a tent to keep our dog with us. Wharton Lodge has it's own resident dogs who all made Stanley feel welcome too. Cannot mention too much how well furnished and decorated the cottages are. Location is superb for visiting local places such as Symonds Yat Rock, Hereford, Ross, The Chase-Williams Vodka Distillery (Leominster)-DO the tour!
Fabulous and recommended for those wanting and willing to pay a reasonable price for quality and luxury that is only just down the M50!

We chose Grosvenor because it said it welcomed dogs & it really did, towels & dog bowls etc.. The cottage was just like a 'home from home' with everything you could need - including a tasty welcome hamper. The grounds surrounding our cottage were pretty spectacular & we were welcome to walk & sit in them. Many nice dog friendly places to eat out & the walking was plentiful & exhausting.
