Swallows Barn is a luxury, timber clad, semi-detached cottage with quick access to our private lake.

On the ground floor, there is an open plan living/kitchen/dining area with double sofa bed, Freeview TV, DVD player and boards games. The dining area has seating for 6 guests and the fully equipped kitchen has an oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The entrance lobby has a water closet and plenty of space for storing coats and shoes.

The first floor has a master bedroom with a king bed, en suite bathroom and spectacular lake views. There is also another king bedroom with an en suite shower room.

Outside there is a garden area with a table, chairs and a BBQ, which comes with a pack of charcoal. There are designated parking spaces.

Dogs are welcome in Swallows Barn for £35 each. Please make sure that you request dogs and BBQ at time of booking, so we can be prepared for your stay.

Swallows Barn has an air source heat pump heating and cooling system.

Swallows Barn has a maximum occupancy of 6 guests, which includes two guests on the sofa bed.

nice place to stay fishing ok just need more fish to make it a great place to stay if you like fishing needs may be some f1 or crucia carp we only went here to fish it was to lots of very smell fish some nice tench but not a fishing lake , for anglers .
the place it self was great will love to come back if the fishing is addressed ,,,
love this place but not for angling.

We loved everything here. The lodge was warm and cozy and the grounds and surrounding area were absolutely stunning.

Everyone made our stay here so easy, relaxing and were so attentive and kind.

My husband enjoyed the on site fishing and we all loved the hot tub!!
We are already planning a trip back to Mill Meadow :)

We enjoyed our stay for a week in swallow barn. There was an issue with the television and rang Helen the Housekeeper. She was extremely efficient and had an engineer out the next day.
There are 2 thing we would recommend to do outside ...solar spot light ..we couldn't sit out in the evening when getting dusk or see properly if we needed to get up the path to our car, also there is no extra step into the hot tub. It was very high and we struggled to get up on the platform to get in or out but apart from those thing everything else inside was immaculate and very well equipped for our stay Thank You

We had a very hectic weekend at our nephews wedding. First impressions were good however we all walked into cobwebs. The sofa bed was Very uncomfortable. The hot tub was good & was checked twice a day. There was a bbq, we understood fuel & starting lighters would be provided but nothing so we couldn’t have the planned bbq on the Sunday lunch. The general layout was good & kitchen in particular was good - nice touch to put a welcome pack in place - all in all it was an enjoyable long weekend.

We usually leave the BBQ items in the small shed but once again sorry we didn’t make this clear before your arrival. We could not thank Chris and his team enough for the absolutely amazing stay we experienced at Mill meadows.
From booking the accommodation the communication was seamless - we were given plenty of information about places to visit with our children which was a great advantage when organise our week. The welcome we experienced was so lovely and our children were thrilled with Chris and his enthusiasm he greeted us with.

The accommodation was everything we could wish for - extremely clean, well equipped, comfortable and so inviting with extra welcoming gestures such a homemade flapjack and local apple juice (yummy).

The surrounding were so relaxing and quiet - I worried we were the family making the noise but the space between accommodations and the lay out of hot tubs seemed to make this work for all.

The setting is beautiful and so much nature to absorb, I have never stayed anywhere before where my children don't actually want to go out for the day - they were content walking to the local park, spotting big fish in the lake or chilling in the hot tub!

The entire setting up is so well thought of that I have already recommended it to friends and would definitely book again for future breaks. We were all sorry to have to leave.

We had a lovely relaxing week away at Mill Meadow. We had everything we needed in Swallows Barn. It was like home from home. From booking our stay to our departure day Chris, Helen and Suzanne were fantastic. Any problems or queries we had were sorted straight away. They all work so hard. Mill meadow is a beatiful holiday retreat, we had a great customer service with advice for where to go and what to do. The hot tub is a fabulous addition and the lake so relaxing. Strategically located so that we could enjoy sightseeing in Somerset, Devon or Dorset. Fantastic place, thank you and we will be back!

What an amazing place to stay! We booked 5 of the lodges at Mill Meadow for our friends and family over our wedding weekend.
From booking through to check out Suzanne and Chris went over and above and exceeded all our expectations. Mill Meadow truly is a special place for any occasion. The welcome to the lodges was amazing and each one finished to a high standard with everything you could possibly need. Brilliant stay, would definitely recommend. Especially those with dogs. Stayed with a family of 4 adults and a 6 year old along with our puppy.

Although we were down in Somerset on business, we managed to spend quality time at our eco lodge (Swallows Barn). Unfortunately the weather wasn't great, so we didn't get to experience the Hot Tub or the BBQ, but inside we had everything we needed by way of a fully functional kitchen, so we were able to self cater very comfortably. There are 2 very cozy sofas and a great size TV, and I believe one of these sofas is a sofa bed, so up to 6 can stay here. The 2 bedroom are very spacious and comfortable, both with en-suites. At the end of a long and wet day, it was lovely to return to the lodge and have a pipping hot bath. We both slept very well and found the location very peaceful. Overall, I would thoroughly recommend Mill Meadow, especially if a group of friends or extended family wish to get together. The owners are always on sight, and always very approachable and helpful.

The lodges are set in a lovely location and are of a high standard. It is so relaxing you are only a short distance from Taunton and other places of interest but you could be anywhere. We would certainly look to come back to Mill Meadows again .

The cabins have been decorated to a high standard and everything you could possibly need has been provided. We even had a decorated tree waiting for us and our host brought us mince pies during our stay. It is a lovely and convenient location. Our boys enjoyed fishing on the lake and we just have to decide which cabin we will have next time.

We found ourselves needing somewhere to stay at short notice before moving to a new home, had heard about Mill Meadow from a friend, managed to book in for 2 weeks then extended it further. It was lovely living in a peaceful location so close to a pretty lake, saw the kingfisher a couple of times. I enjoyed sitting in the Summer house with a cup of tea and a magazine, enjoying the peace and quiet. Very comfy bed, nice bedding and everything you needed was supplied.

Our daughter was getting married at Hestercombe,so a large group of us stayed at Mill Meadow,which was perfect.There was 5 of us staying in Swallows Barn which was very comfortable and well equipped.Lovely location with a lake nearby although we were unable to explore due to horrible weather! Would definitely recommend to anyone having a wedding at Hestercombe as so convenient and a great place to celebrate such a lovely occasion

Swallows Barn at Mill Meadow provided us with the perfect accommodation for our stay in Taunton when we attended our grand daughter's wedding at All Saints church,Trull followed by the reception at Hestercombe. Situated in beautiful and peaceful grounds, close to the centre of Taunton, Swallows Barn had everything we needed for a comfortable, relaxing retreat, between the the lively activity of the wedding celebrations spread over the three days of our stay.

We recently stayed at the lodge whilst visiting Taunton for a friends wedding. The lodge was in the perfect location for us as the wedding venue was a 5 minute drive away.

The lodge had everything we needed, both rooms were of a good size & both ensuite which was great.

Would recommend to anyone. Only comment would be that there isn’t a hot tub & there was no private area when sitting outside.



Fabulous for some peace and some interesting things to do nearby.

It was my second time at Mill Meadow (Swallows Barn) for weddings at Hestercombe Gardens. I can' t praise the owners enough particularly Helen. A family run business at their best. Such a relaxing place where you can get on with life without people faffing around. I Love it and hope i have an excuse to visit again?

I booked this lodge for a few friends who were coming to my hen weekend. They loved it. Had everything there they needed. Would recommend a lodge at mill meadow to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing break. We will be back again.

The proprietors of Mill Meadow have a hands on approach to hospitality. The lodges were clean, well-appointed, seemingly new. Each one we visited (we part of a larger group) was likewise and each very private as well. Great experience, and highly recommended.

We stayed here to celebrate the wedding of special friends. Our group stayed in other lodges too. Swallows barn and the whole set up was lovely, so comfortable & clean with everything we would need. In beautiful surroundings it was the perfect backdrop for an extra special occasion. The team there were so professional, helpful & made sure our weekend was exactly as we wanted it. We look forward to returning again as a couple

I lost my husband in July, we had previously had holidays at Mill Meadow. On my return I felt a calm peace and began to remember all the happy times. Everything at Swallows Barn was perfect and helped sort the upsets.

The omens were not good. After making the booking we were told we must give not only the names of all staying in the house but also any visitors during our weekend. The "Welcome" e-mail was not so much welcoming as a list of rules and regulations - it outlined "fines" which would be inflicted for make-up on towels/sheets (£25 minimum), not sorting rubbish in accordance with their recycling rules and other regulations such as "no shoes upstairs". No access on arrival until 4pm! It all sounded as though we were going to be staying in a boot camp rather than having a relaxing, enjoyable few days - especially irritating as the rent was not cheap and extras such as hot tubs, taking a dog and use of a barbecue attracted additional charges.

We have stayed in many self-catering places in the past and perfectly understand the need for owners to protect their properties with some rules but the Mill Meadow approach - including the rather unhelpfully late check-in time - does tend to seem a bit OCD.

Fortunately, when we actually spent the weekend there, the cottage was excellent; clean, comfortable, spacious and well supplied with everything we needed. There was a plentiful supply of local information including maps and books of walks as well as efficient Wifi access. The surrounding garden/lake area was lovely and there was a useful sitting area outside.

A very friendly welcome on arrival. With freshly made flapjacks, delicious Somerset apple juice and milk in the lodge for us to enjoy. A beautifully well maintained, clean and light lodge amongst thoughtfully arranged mature landscaping. We fished the small but pretty lake and caught between 5lb and 8lb fish. Location was good and not far for us to get to the Cricket Festival at Kings College in Taunton every day. The lodge was well equipped with everything we might need to cook in the kitchen, games for the children to play (Uno was especially popular), hair driers, ironing board and books on local attractions and walks. We valued the information file and went to the local pub and some of the restaurants listed in there. We valued the extra touches which made our stay even more enjoyable. Excellent in all areas!

We really enjoyed our short break we stayed for the weekend for a friends party. The lodge was great exactly what we needed but wish it had a hot tub. We had baby twins and Mill Meadows was able to supply 2 cots and 2 high chairs. We really want to return.

Very comfortable two bedroom house situated in beautiful area and great as a walking centre. Also not far from the coast and several National Trust properties. Driving takes a little time as all the surrounding roads are narrow with blind bends.
The development has an eco theme and takes recycling very seriously - we were very happy to oblige as we have the same view at home. There are some great pubs around and about as well.

A very comfortable and relaxing place to stay. We used three lodges and had a brilliant Christmas celebration. Well equipped with the luxury of hot tubs, the attention to detail was first class.

We stayed here with family for two nights. It was a very pleasant stay excellent accomadation. The beds were extremely comfortable and we enjoyed the shower in our room. The kitchen was very well equipped and the dining and living spaces had ample room. Parking right outside. Lovely area for sitting outside when the weather is good.Also was able to bring our well behaved dog.

We really enjoyed our stay at Swallows Barn, the owners were very helpful .
Swallows Barn was really clean, comfortable and warm.
Mill Meadow looked beautiful this time of year with all the Autumn Colour.

vIRTUALLY ALL OF OUR FAMILY AND SOME FRIENDS STAYED AT MILL MEADOW FOR 3 DAYS FOR THE OCCASION ,TAKING ALL OF THE ACCOMODATION, SUCH A PLEASANT COMFORTABLE AND SAFE PLACE. THE CHILDREN LOVED IT..

You will want for nothing.

I would certainly recommend Mill Meadow to anyone. Great place. Suzanne and the staff really went out of their way to help us out during a very difficult time for us. A fabulous weekend. Couldn't have asked for more. Cottage beautiful, everything you required was available. Lovely walk round the pond. Spent time at the beach. The dog had a whale of a time. We all enjoyed watching.

Swallows Barn is one of a small complex of holiday lodges situated in beautiful landscaped grounds. The lodge itself was well presented and probably the cleanest our family has come across in 30 years of renting holiday accommodation. The owners obviously care about their properties and couldn't have been more helpful with anything we needed. Taunton is a great centre for visiting Cheddar Gorge and Caves, Glastonbury and Wells, the Jurassic Coast, North Devon Coast etc. etc.
A week wasn't nearly long enough................
