This is one of our semi-detatched stone built cottages which was traditionally home to one of the estate's workforce. A tranquil haven beside the River Aline.

This gorgeous cottage was set in a stunning tucked away location on the Ardtornish estate, with waterfalls, forests and stunning autumn colour. Extremely comfortable bed in which I slumbered peacefully, modern fully equipped kitchen and a beautiful bathroom. Team at Ardtornish were extremely friendly and helpful both before and during my stay. I loved it and will be back.

We (family of four) stayed in the Ardtornish Craigendarroch-2 property in July and had a wonderful time. At the time of our booking, the Ardtornish website reported an error, but staff was so helpful and nice in assuring us by email that all was OK. It was our first stay at Ardtornish (having found the property by coincidence on the VisitScotland website), and already before arriving, we were in love with the story of the estate and its outstanding work in preserving the natural beauty of the area, the castle gardens etc. On arrival, we marvelled at the wonderfully cozy ambience of the cottage and the obvious love and care that had gone into its modernization. This really is a place with the perfect mix of modern convenience and traditional charm, with the spirit of the original cottage fully intact. There was a cozy, babbling stream right outside the window, a pine marten came to visit on the windowsill in the evening (gobbling down peanut butter that we were advised by the charming Farm Shop staff to leave there), and 50 yards from the front door, the forest was full of tasty chanterelles. We will certainly return, and highly recommend this property (and the Ready Meals available from the Farm Shop, btw).

Ardtornish will always be a special place for my family. A friend joined us this time, they were taken aback by the unspoilt beauty as well as the Lochaline community. They have a big family so they were talking about going with all their family.

We were so lucky to find Ardtornish at the last minute. Kenny went the extra mile to help us and made our stay very enjoyable. The unbroken sunshine helped to make it even better but the cottage would have been comfortable in any weather. Thanks to all.

I'd advised my dog was coming with me and some doggie biscuits were waiting on our arrival, along with a bowl of water which my dog needed! Couldn't find any info re WIFI so phoned the estate office, took a few times to get an answer but I was advised the info was in the welcome book, which was nowhere to be found. Someone was sent round to help with WIFI but I did manage to sort it (welcome book was on a shelf behind the TV, somewhere I'd never have looked). Cottage had everything i needed, very comfortable and a lovely location. The road to the cottage is quite uneven so be advised to drive very slowly. Found info in the visitor book that Pine Martins visit and what food to put out for them, which I did. They ate the food but I've still to see one!!! Maybe a brief instruction sheet on how to use the hob/cooker would be helpful, took a bit of time to work that out, just as a suggestion.

I have stayed at Ardtornish many times since I was a teenager. This was the first visit in 12 years though. I have always loved it but there have been considerable renovations and updates since the last time and it's much more comfortable, convenient and well appointed. The WiFi works well and the TV can accommodate a travel Roku. Also plenty of heat and hot water - I guess because Ardtornish has its own hydroelectric system now.

I hadn't stayed in Craigandarroch 2 before but my Mum has and she can attest, from my photos, that it is much updated, while retaining its unique charm.

The cottage is picturesque and perfect for a couple but would work for 4. Even though it is semi-detached, with the thick walls we heard nothing from next door.

The estate is huge, with beautiful gardens and many walks by the Loch and in the hills.
You can walk up and see the dam and the various turbine stations, which is very interesting. It's close to the Mull ferry, a distillery and some restaurants. We like The Whitehouse.

We hope to be back for a longer stay and try The Keeper's Cottage, which has a wonderful view of Loch Aline.

During the drive up to Scotland I was reflecting on the many previous and happy visits that I'd had to Ardtornish with my late father and came to the realisation that it had been 28 years since my last visit!
Given this significant passage of time I was then suddenly overcome with a sense of apprehension at what we might find - would the tranquility and beauty that I remembered have been spoilt with modern embellishments, would there be modern developments spoiling the vistas, would the Estate have developed in to a modern money grabbing hard nosed business........?
All of these things and many more raced around my head as we got ever closer and anticipation levels rose.
Finally, turning on to the estate driveway a sense of calm washed over me, the views were the same, the river was the same, the lush green spaces were the same, EVEN the rain was the same!
Yes there had understandably been some tweeks but these were all subtle and most definitely could be considered improvements. The Estate yard looks very smart now compared to how I remembered it and the track up to Loch Tearnait makes for easy passage on foot and would allow access a motorised off-road type buggy.
All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it was lovely to be back. The accommodation was great, the peace and quiet was fab and we even made friend with the Pine Martins - a highlight of our holiday seeing one or more each evening.
I'll not be leaving it another 28 year before revisiting that's for sure!

We had a wonderful stay in Ardtornish. Particular highlights were:
- Peacefulness of the location
- Short walk along the loch into Lochaline for fish and chips
- Watching the pine marten come and visit the bird feeder outside our cottage
- Warm welcome from Cat with great recommendations

Cottage is warm and comfortable and set in a very peaceful location. Fantastic dog walks from the front door of the cottage. We have spotted a golden eagle, deer, migrating geese and a pine marten during the week.
Guidance sheet left in cottage needs updating with respect to gift shop and local stores in Lochaline opening hours, as we thought both were available by appointment or phoning in an order respectively and both were open with COVID guidelines in place.

We booked this accommodation as part of the our daughter’s wedding package. All our guests had nothing but the highest praise for all the accommodations. Words used to describe the cottages were cosy, inviting, clean and comfortable, many with breathtaking views. The apartments in the house were absolutely fabulous. They were filled with Victorian charm and grandeur but at the same time were inviting and comfortable, we couldn’t have asked for anything better. Everyone had one of the most memorable and enjoyable weekends ever, from the beautiful walks on the estate to the sumptuous wedding festivities that took place in the hall of Ardtornish House. It was perfection!

Craigendarroch 2 has pretty much everything that you need - and want - for a stay in a lovely cottage. It feels like you're in Kate Winslet's Rosehill Cottage from the film The Holiday! The fireplace is cosy, and even though there aren't any pictures of the kitchen on Ardtornish Estate's website, it would certainly be worthwhile to put some up! Especially because it is well equipped with all the kitchen tools you need for preparing your favorite dishes. To top it off, the fruit and vegetables from the Kitchen Gardens were delicious!

Some points for improvement: provide written instructions about the heating (for it takes a few hours to get going) and for litting the fireplace.

We enjoyed our stay and will look back upon it with a warm feeling!

Thanks for a wonderful 10 days! The Estate is gorgeous, with a fantastic location, amazing views and wild life round every corner and extremely helpful staff. The cottage is basic but homely, right next to a stunning river and a little stream. There was even a rope swing which our boys loved. The kitchen garden is well worth a visit (or several!). Richard is very friendly and really knows his stuff. We enjoyed picking our own new potatoes, strawberries, onions, peas and tomatoes - all delicious! We will definitely be back to Ardtornish soon.

Loved the location had heard about Ardtonish quite a few years ago and had intended to bring my dog who was bred in the Highlands twelve years ago. ~Sadly he died in january but I thought as there was a vacant cottage last week in march and I could get away it would be a good opportunity to experience the area which is a part of Scotland I had not visited. Truly lovely and not difficult to access. The FT this weekend contained a very interesting article on rewilding and promoting new places to stay in Scotland. With brexit Scotland should be in a very good position to move on even further in the holiday business. It was interesting to me to stay in a holiday cottage and such a lovely one, the burn outside one window and the mountains of Mull from the front, as I own an ancient cottage in Cornwall which I restored a few years ago. It has not been let but I may do this in the future. My area of Cornwall, the Roseland, is also a peninsular and shares some characteristics with Morven. Great place.

Having stayed in the main house a number of times, this was our first time in one of the cottages as we brought the dog along.
A wonderful location. Red Deer in the fields at sunrise, Eagles during the day and total silence at night.
The estate staff couldn't me more welcoming and helpful. A credit to the business.

The location was perfect for us as it was ideal for the outdoor activities that we wanted to do and the weather was fantastic.
For me the cottage met our needs but it is an old cottage and some work required to further bring it upto date. Wifi worked fine but tv freeview not getting all channels consistently. Kitchen had all we needed, living room seats good.

Love coming to the area for visits to Ardnamurchan peninsular and Mull. The amount and variety of wildlife is fantastic. Ardtornish Estate is stunning and perfect for its location and the staff so helpful and friendly well worth a visit or re-visit. Some investment needs putting into the cottages which have good and poor points. A cheaper letting price may encourage 'full bookings' for the season and provide revenue for improvement.

Ardtornish was a good location to do some exploring. The estate has lavish gardens and walks along both side of the lochaline.
The ferry from Lochaline to Mull was v easy and comvenient and Mull is a lovely island. The cottage Craigendarroch was perfect for a family, facilities were good and we had everything we needed.

The cottage was perfect if you enjoy seeing wildlife, sometimes very up-close, in a beautiful environment. Pine martins, red deer, sea otters, bats, frogs and a vast quantity and range of birdlife, including eagles, all seen frequently, usually on a daily basis. The many walks available from the cottage doorstep were thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated. Cottage was a warm & cosy haven to return to each day. The beautiful far side of Mull was easily accessible via the ferry and the narrow isthmus at Salen. We'd love to stay at Ardtornish again and would probably pick the same cottage due to it's peaceful location and nearness to wildlife. How can you beat a pine martin on your window sill every evening?!

What a wonderful place to relax! The cottage offers all you need. A well equipt kitchen with washing mashine, a terasse, a fire place in the living room,... And a great staff, who always comes and helps if you need something.
A great place!

We absolutely loved our stay on the Ardtornish Estate. A nicely chilled bottle of wine was an unexpected surprise along with filter coffee and milk (& posh biscuits) on our arrival. The kitchen had all mod cons and there was even a washer/dryer. All the rooms were clean and fresh and the layout sympathetic although we did move the dining table in front of the window to enjoy the amazing view. Our only gripe regarding accommodation was the bathroom. We felt it had been neglected - poor floor, no cupboard space and drafty windows and we stayed in May (must be freezing over winter). Bathroom aside, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. PS. Don't expect wifi despite advertised connection. It hasn't quite made it to the cottage!

Dear Horgan party, Progress indeed since your visit in May. The WIFI is working in the cottage and whilst currently working off a wireless signal, a hard-wired solution is imminent for all cottages. We plan to upgrade the bathrooms in both Craigendarroch 1 and 2 over the 2015 winter period. We look forward to welcoming you back in 2016
