This flat provides a cosy retreat due to its position under the eaves on the top floor of the house. The window seat in the sitting room commands majestic views over the Loch.

The perfect venue, in combination with 3 other flats at Ardtornish, for a 60th Birthday celebration with 4 generations. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Amazing castle to stay in. We were in the lovely cozy nursery flat with views of the Loch. Our family were staying downstairs and it was wonderful to have use of all the amazing facilities in the castle garden and estate

Having been visiting Ardtornish for over 25 years, what more can you say.

If you've not been, go, you won't regret it.

We love Ardtornish - the flat, and the estate. The flat is very comfortable, warm and well equipped (if there were 6 in the flat it might want another big saucepan, but everything else is there). Bath big enough to swim in, and endless hot water. And the estate staff always kind and helpful. We'll be back!

We’ve stayed on the estate for more years than we care to remember but only our second stay in the Nursery flat. What a delight. Cosy, homely, peaceful and well equipped with everything you could ever need. Tucked away at the top of the big house, it is the perfect retreat for the most relaxing time and the view from the window seat is lovely.

It's getting harder to find holiday lets that haven't had the bland modern treatment - even stately homes are having their interiors and original fittings ripped out and being given the boutique hotel look. Thank goodness there are still places like Ardtornish, which still has very much the feel of a grand Victorian country house. We loved details like the massive old taps and characterful wood in the bathroom, the lovely fireplace with its open fire, and the original windows, cupboards and old doors with their Victorian fittings. The old prints in the corridor added to the period feel, as did the beautiful antique furniture.

The flat was very cosy and comfortable, and we slept well.

The modern convenience of a lift was also appreciated!

The setting of the house is spectacular, and we enjoyed a lovely walk to Ardtornish Castle, which has amazing and varied views throughout. We saw two sea eagles flying together, and then a golden eagle, plus geese, curlew and other birds.

The only real disappointment was that the kitchen garden was closed on both occasions on which we tried to visit.

We would love to return to Ardtornish soon.

Very enjoyable weekend spent in the Nursery Flat in the magnificent Ardtornish House and its stunning grounds. Kitchen well equipped, lots of books to read, exceedingly comfortable beds, a fine sitting room - and lashings of hot water for a deep bath.

A very nice flat, more roomy than I had expected from the "under the eaves" description. Good that there's a lift. Well equipped kitchen - maybe another big pan would be good, since we're cooking for 6.

We keep coming back year after year to the estate. We were married here 10 years ago and regular visitors long before that. There is a comfortable informality about the place that we love and the location is perfect for walking and exploring and being, what feels like, a million miles away from the humdrum of everyday life.
There’s always a friendly welcome from the estate staff on our arrival and this was no exception.
The Nursery flat was just perfect - cosy and comfortable and well equipped. Even though the weather was wild and windy for a time while we were there, there was a plentiful supply of wood to keep the fire roaring. If we were to make any suggestion, it would be to install a better shower and - oh - some whisky glasses please!!!

I with four other family members had the opportunity to stay in the Nursery Flat while attending my niece's wedding. After the.service at Kiel church we returned to the Big House for a drinks reception and the Wedding Breakfast.
On arrival we found the accommodation had been prepared to be warm welcoming and very well equipped for a self catering venue. The hamper of food which included a bottle of wine was one of the best hampers I have come across in many stays in self catering accommodation. The sense of history attached to Ardtornish is very evident throughout the accommodation. An open fire in the main living room was very welcome and added to the sense of homeliness we experienced. Many activities are offered at Ardtornish which we did not on this occasion make use of.
I have no hesitation in recommending Ardtornish as an excellent venue for a wedding or a break away from the normal stress and.strains of everyday life
There are also cottages in the grounds which provide self catering as well.

Ardtornish never disappoints. Looking forward to my next visit. This time we enjoyed good weather which made the stay even more enjoyable. It would be nice if the lift was operating so we didn't have to carry all the luggage up two flights of stairs.

Spent a fantastic time with fellow Divers at Ardtornish House, the apartments were warm, welcoming, pretty and a very nice change for our group. We love the giant bath and cozy fire. Beds were fresh and comfortable. Will definitely be booking again. Facilities were great plenty of lovely walks in area and beautiful views.

Thank you for another great stay at Ardtornish. We love every detail of the Nursery (an eclectic collection of books, comfortable beds, a vey well equipped kitchen, a fireplace, among the many appreciated details), and love the feeling of being at home on the Sound of Mull. Thank you for making out stay so special!

We love staying in the Nursery flat! Clean and welcoming. The flaking paint in the bedroom didn’t bother us at all and the meat that we got with the voucher you kindly offered for compensation was wonderful. The only negative was the lift not working. One other thing to mention is the very squeaky bed in the master room- not sure anything can be done but I woke myself up a few times!

We had a lovely week but, for a very expensive rent, there were some issues.

The lift doesn’t work so it’s a loooong way upstairs with bags etc. There is also no presence at all from Estate staff, so we weren’t sure if we had to check in etc.

We didn’t receive any joining instructions prior to arrival. So, when we read the instructions left in the flat we were somewhat dismayed to learn that we had to be out at 0800 on departure day; pretty antisocial!

Always lovely to stay at Ardtornish. We had great weather and always fantastic to see the gardens at their best. The Nursery Flat is really cozy and has a warm feel for groups and families, the kitchen and lounge areas are great to get together, chat and relax. With such an old house there are always tweaks needed but generally a really comfortable stay in an excellent location away from it all.

We loved the apartment and the stairs kept us fit. It felt like a home from home, eveything we needed and lovely walks and places to visit within a short drive. The apartment was spotless and the kitchen well equipped. We worked out how to control the taps to ensure we got hot showers. We will definitely come back to the Estate. The apartment is however not for someone who has any mobility issues unless the lift becomes operational.

Have been to ardtornish house on a few occasions and stopped in the nursery flat having seen some modernisation for the accomodation .the kitchen has had a re vamp with an isleland with electric oven and top appliance the fridge and freezer and dishwasher and washing machine are all none showing in the kitchen units .only down points are the wifi which is a bit hit and miss also the lift which was replaced with a more modern unit unfortunately was out of action this was a problem as all the luggage and food and drinks have to be taken by hand up flights of stairs

Returning after many years, we were happy to find that Ardtornish has kept its character as a lovely place to unwind and enjoy the beautiful surrounding area.
Warmer than we remember it and with modernised kitchen, the flat was exactly what we wanted.

Only issue is the non-functional lift, which wasn’t a big problem with our small amount of luggage, but might be if carrying heavier loads.

We booked this accommodation as part of the our daughter’s wedding package. All our guests had nothing but the highest praise for all the accommodations. Words used to describe the cottages were cosy, inviting, clean and comfortable, many with breathtaking views. The apartments in the house were absolutely fabulous. They were filled with Victorian charm and grandeur but at the same time were inviting and comfortable, we couldn’t have asked for anything better. Everyone had one of the most memorable and enjoyable weekends ever, from the beautiful walks on the estate to the sumptuous wedding festivities that took place in the hall of Ardtornish House. It was perfection!

Always sad to leave this beautiful place of such peace and tranquillity, interlaced with the wonderful warmth of the estate staff. Nothing is too much trouble and again we enjoyed a wonderful holiday with pretty good weather, stunning scenery and fantastic wildlife. We stayed in the Nursery flat for a week, 4 adults and 1 infant. Well aware of what to expect from Scottish West Coast weather, we wanted a comfortable, clean space with room for all of our needs, i.e. a crawling infant and to be able to retreat to a quiet space whilst she slept. The Nursery flat provided all that we needed. It is spacious and very well looked after, very clean . It maintains loads of the old character. When we first walked in we were delighted that it felt warm and smelt clean. The radiators are set to maintain heat throughout the whole flat. On top of that we were provided with a generous amount of firewood and kindling. The view from the window was appreciated, looking down the loch. We enjoyed exploring the areas of the house available to us and walking around the estate. Many paths and roads to explore and all very easy walking. Visit the organic garden where you can buy produce. The estate shop sells its own meat and other goodies, as well as local crafts . Also the local shop in Lochaline is pretty good. A must visit would be the the art gallery and studio of Alan B Hayman, on the Drimnin estate. Its a nice drive up the road and so very worth it. Kids would love it too as the studio has a collection of loads of natural finds. birds, stone, driftwood. He is a sculpture as well and if you have kids interested at all in art, making, collecting, finding, i'm guessing they would find something of interest here! Alan and Helen are gorgeous folk. I intend to return.
We enjoyed, walking Fishing, watching sea eagles and otters, relaxing and talking to the folk on the estate.. all very helpful and friendly. I Highly recommend Ardtornish as a place to stay.

Easter at Ardtornish could not have been more glorious. No wonder we have not tired of this unspoiled ‘secret’ over the last four decades... and still there are treasures to discover! We were blessed with superb weather, picnics on the beach, wild walks and deserted lochs. Wonderful wildlife, snow capped mountains, the outstanding Whitehouse restaurant, magnificent gardens full of daffodils and another chance to taste what life must have been like on a grand sporting estate in the early 1900’s! As ever, we received the warmest of welcomes, swift resolution to any difficulties and a feeling that nothing was too much trouble. These passing decades have not changed the spirit of Ardtornish, but comfort has been enhanced and just enough technology enabled us to keep linked in to that other world. This surely is as close to ‘God’s Own Country’ as it gets.

Being a family holiday with grandchilden, we appreciated the spaciousness of the flats and also the cosiness given the cold weather.
We also enjoyed the wonderful gardens which were really amazing and a great opportunity for children to explore.
All in all we found Ardtornish house and the estate a fascinating place and the views over the loch were spectacular and unforgettable.

The house, grounds and location are all great. We stayed in the Nursery Flat, which has ample room for six and was clean and tidy. The view is also great. Our stay was let down by the beds, which are very firm and sadly very uncomfortable. Together with the shower, these two areas are behind the times in terms of quality.

We are so pleased we decided to stay in the Nursery Flat in Ardtornish house. It is a delightful, comfortable and well equipped apartment with outstanding views of Loch Aline. Our welcome from Kat was very warm and she has been incredibly helpful throughout our stay, without ever being interfering. To achieve that balance is something few manage to achieve.
The weather has been great for early April so we have enjoyed exploring this stunning area in addition to loving our base and the garden.

This was our home away from home. We were welcomed from the moment we arrived at the ferry and every step along the way. Ardtornish is truly a place of welcome and of feeling completely at home.
