Great location, great accommodation, great amenities… hard to beat this if you’re looking for an easily-reached middle-of-the-country option for a large group. We had 16 adults and 5 small children and we were fully accommodated by the wonderful hosts. When you’re this close to a pub, farm play park, walks literally out of your door, Oxenholme station and the M6 there’s little more you could ask for.
A fantastic cottage in a private location in the heart of Kirkby Lonsdale. Great access to both the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District and with the added benefit of staying in a lively town with excellent facilities, pubs, restaurants etc. all within walking distance. We were made to feel very welcome by the owners during our stay and were impressed by the high quality welcome pack and immaculately clean accommodation. Would highly recommend for a Dales/District holiday location and we would definitely be happy to stay again.
Box Tree is one of a few cottages that ticks all the boxes. It was stunning and in a fabulous location. The furnishings was to a very high standard and was beautifully laid out. Front garden and paddock to the rear was absolutely perfect for the dog, in addition to the owners having two black labs. Close to Kirkby Lonsdale was a great attraction, walks along the river and the park. Could have stayed longer as it was such a fabulous cottage which I would highly recommend.
House as always was immaculate, so clean and inviting. Can never get over the views from this property, constantly changing. We had an owl visit on Thursday, amazing. The garden is wonderful. Never tire of coming back here, 3 times this year and already booked 2 for next year. Laura is very helpful and such a nice person. Area is so clean and tidy so different to where we come from. What more is there to say!!!!
Fantastic, luxurious, met all are expectations. We look forward to going again in the near future. Best place we have stayed.
My wife and I spent 4 nights at Grouse Hall mid August and even though the weather was wet at times the location and coziness of the house made it a great break. The house has been renovated to a very high standard and is immaculate with loads of space. I’d recommend catching the train from Garsdale to Ribblehead to see the viaduct. Short drive or walk to Garsdale station from the house. Some good cycling from the door (if you like hills!). If you fancy a bit of adventure try scrambling down Hell Gill and having a swim in the plunge pool of Hellgill Force (short drive from the house),...more
Lovely cottage with great facilities and beautifully presented. Kitchen diner area was fantastic with amazing large windows with views onto the Fells. Lovely for weather watching. House was ideally located for great walks on your doorstep and great for visiting Kirby Lonsdale and Hawes
We are seasoned self caterers which in our view, provides much better value for money than hotels. We chose carefully the location and quality of the accommodation. ‘The Cow Shed’ more than exceeded our expectations. The location was perfect for an away from it all mini break and the quality excellent. We will be back. Next time it will be ‘The Dog Hose’. Alan and Rose.
We recently stayed at Howgills Barn (Mill House Cottage), and it was absolutely pristine and exceptionally well-maintained. Everything described on their website was spot on. The location is wonderfully isolated, offering all the peace and quiet you could possibly want. The classic Lake District rain kept us from going on walks, but we genuinely didn’t mind staying indoors. The cottage is incredibly spacious, the beds have wonderfully cozy sheets, and the kitchen is fully equipped with plenty of cutlery, making it a joy to cook our own meals. We also tried a few of the hosts' restaurant recomm...more
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Dog House. The location was fantastic - really easy to get to - and absolutely stunning. Sitting in the hot tub surrounded by sheep was incredible!! A truly lovely experience.
The lodge is situated in a lovely location overlooking the lake. It was immaculately clean with everything required for a few days stay. Beds are really comfortable and the bathrooms are excellent. A very roomy place for 4 adults to occupy. We loved eating out on the decking and watching the lake activities and wildlife. An umbrella for the outside table would have been nice as the temperatures were in the high 20's when we stayed and the sun is shining directly on the lodge most of the day. It might also be worth considering getting some form of coverage for the large windows, again as the s...more
The stables were lovely we had a great time with our two children for a few days in lancashire. The stables were clean comfortable warm And bright and exceeded our expectations. The hot tub was a fun addition!
We had an exceptional experience at the Barn. It’s a lovely property and has a very high standard of fixtures and fittings as well as being superbly cleaned and prepared for our visit. The boys were very happy in their bedroom and we also loved ours - the bath is a lovely slice of luxury! The location is great to explore the Dales (Cautley Spout is very near and we had a wonderful walk up to the top) with a number of places to visit being an hour or less away. Overall, I’m very happy with the value for money and we had a comfortable and really pleasurable time at the Barn. I would withou...more
This is a great property to rent in a lovely quiet location. The garden large and fully enclosed (small dogs may find a way out) so was ideal for our springer spaniel to explore the different smells. The layout of the property has been very well thought out and the attention to quality is clear that it was a very important factor in the renovation. The hot tub is a fabulous extra feature and the views of the moody skies during our visit was a spectacle to witness.
We have just returned from our third stay at Park House Cottage in so many years, and thoroughly enjoyed it as usual - despite poor weather. The cottage was warm, cosy and comfortable and well equipped for all the catering we wanted to do. The situation of the cottage is delightful, so many wonderful trees and well-kept grassy areas, and plants in pots. The 'wild' area across the road was a so pretty at this time of year. There are several lovely walks to do right on the doorstep. Kirkby Lonsdale, just a few miles away, has some nice cafes etc.and a good supermarket for provisions. Altoget...more
We stayed for a 3 night stop heading up to the Highlands from London, and wish we stayed here for longer! The cottage was perfect and the views out the garden were amazing, even the rain couldn't affect it! We will be back!
Regular visitors to the area. Brought the whole family including Mum in Law who’s 88. Loads of space . Great family areas twin lounges to separate the kids!! Great banisters for mum in law up and down stairs and downstairs loo for all daytime . Hot Tub was great for evenings . Great peaceful location wonderful walks straight out great for the dog early morning . Only challenges Aga Cooker a first for us and Parking in single drive needs reversing into and cars stacked in a line so a bit of shuffling vehicles in and out . 4* from us overall
We love visiting North Lancashire / South Cumbria and Barbon is the the perfect base to do it . Near , but not in busy K.L. . great walks from a tiny village with a peaceful friendly community on your doorstep . The cottage has everything you need and within easy reach of local services - if you need them . We stayed for what so far has been the hottest few days of the year , so we took advantage of the small courtyard garden at the rear . Other than the bathroom shower / seal , which perhaps needs some urgent attention , everything was perfect.
We had a fab few days at the barn. Modern new, clean holiday let. The bedrooms are very small with very little storage / hangers and a lack of coat/ towel hooks! The Owner could not have been nicer and more willing to make our stay more enjoyable - overall a very pleasant stay.
We always enjoy our time coming up to Kirkby Lonsdale & this is our second time in Brontë House which is comfortable & well presented. The one thing that disappoints us is the small things of not even a bottle of water or any milk just to make a drink after your journey. Sometimes it’s the little things you appreciate but it didn’t spoil our time there.
