Bronte Hideaway is a stunning new property located in the popular Low Wood Development, in the small village of Casterton. Located very near to the historic town of Kirkby Lonsdale, on the former Estate of Casterton / Low Wood School which itself is steeped in history, offering a perfect location for exploring the Yorkshire Dales or the Lake District.

Pleasant stay in nice part of the country

Our first floor apartment (which cost £325k new) was spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated. We had two bedrooms, two bathrooms (one en suite) and a lounge/diner with open plan kitchen. The kitchen was well stocked & had new Neff appliances: dishwasher and oven. Chesterfield-style sofas and a dining room table & chairs featured in the lounge area. Sumptuous carpeting throughout. A balcony with table/chairs ran the length of the rear of the property. Very minor negatives: it is a flat so some noise inevitable (eg TV) from other residents. The floorboards in the property were a little creaky and the steps up to the property somewhat uneven in height. The outlook from the balcony was slightly mired by ongoing landscaping work, tiny background noise from the nursery opposite and - it is the countryside - some insect life. The presence of the latter is a consideration as the master bedroom has no window, only a door on to the balcony; a tricky dilemma on a hot night if you’re not a student of entomology (we packed a tower fan). The apartment is in a converted school with historical Emily Brontë connections. The area is very quiet and peaceful, plentiful parking space & only a short drive to nearby Kirkby Lonsdale, which is replete with nice shops & hospitality outlets. Again watch - in this part of the country, fewer places are open for meals etc on a Mon/Tue so you have to plan ahead. In short, this property is a great base to explore South Cumbria, North Lancs & the Yorkshire Dales and a sound choice if you like more space & comfort than most hotels in the area can offer. We enjoyed our stay.
