Unfortunately we stayed at the barn before it was finished but for the money paid I would have expected a higher standard or to have been notified in advance. What has been finished is done to an exceptional standard although with such small bedrooms this would have worked better as a 2 bedroom than a 3 bedroom. A couple of times in the stay I tried to contact the owners as directed but got no reply which didn’t help. However the sun shone and views are to die for. This is not for children due to upstairs windows.

We had the most amazing week at the barn. The property is in a beautiful location with views across fields, fells and open countryside. It is furnished to a very high standard with a very luxurious feel in every room. We explored many local footpaths and walked in to Kirkby Lonsdale through high Casterton. The property is perfectly situated for visits to the Lake District and the dales. Unfortunately the weather was cool and cloudy but the hot tub was a perfect end to the day and enabled us to be outside and relax with amazing views of the surroundings. Very relaxing staycation and we will book through mill house cottages again .

We had the most amazing family holiday here and absolutely loved our stay at The Barn. This is our second stay through Mill House Cottages, and this property was exactly what we expected and more! Presented to such a high standard. We felt very lucky to be staying here. This was also such a special place to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary! This stunning conversion really does have the wow factor. It is situated at the end of your own private driveway, in an extremely peaceful countryside setting in the village of Casterton. We were greeted by the owner Anneka, and she was always easy to contact if we needed her during our stay. She even gave us a quick tour of the grounds at Casterton Grange. We were so pleased with our welcome goodies, which included milk, fresh bread, butter, coffee, cookies, prosecco and fresh flowers. The house was so comfortable, luxurious, light, bright and airy. We loved the amazing furnishings and decor, big comfortable beds, fluffy towels, and outdoor seating area but the icing on the cake was the hot tub! It was wonderful to spend our evenings in the hot tub, stargazing, and enjoying the sunsets and wildlife! So relaxing. There are still a few finishing touches needed here and there, such as some pictures on the walls, but this does not affect your stay. Should you need it, there is also a utility room with a washer/dryer. This is such a fabulous area being only a short drive from the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District. We did some amazing walks, including reaching the top of The Calf near Sedbergh! A visit to the nearest town of Kirkby Lonsdale is a must to browse round all the lovely independent shops, enjoy a picturesque walk along the river, and treat yourself to a homemade ice cream from The Milking Parlour. A pub we highly recommend for amazing food is The Lundesdale Arms in Tunstall. Simply fabulous! If you stay here, you will not be disappointed. We will be back! Thank you.
