Our second stay here and really enjoyed the house with the beautiful sun room and views across to Calf Fell.
House has everything you need for a relaxing holiday.
Clean, good size, excellent for a dog as garden secure, and great location for walking and sight seeing.

As per other reviews, the house is very good and well equipped. There are however a few things that could be improved:
1) The internet is fast in the study and at the TV but the propogation to other rooms is poor, in particular internet is hopeless in the best sitting area - the sun lounge. Investment is needed in better whole of house wifi.
2) There are no comfortable seats to use in the garden, not even a bench with a back. (there is a bench with a back though in the car park if you want to sit there!)
3) The garden is not fully accessible because no paths have been cut through into the wood.
4) The front gate is difficult because it has a strong spring which you are always fighting against. It is not needed because there is a good gate latch anyway. There is no hook or rock to hold the gate open which makes it very difficult with luggage when arriving and leaving.
5) There were no proper arrival instructions detailing how to find the gate on the main road. The arrival instructions consisted of the description of the property.
We felt it was overpriced and should have been a few hundred pounds less for the whole week.
I have put No to "recommend to others" but that would be yes if the above points are accommodated.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry you experienced problems with the wifi during your stay. We have not historically had any issues with wifi in the house. We suspect the powerline was unplugged in the office previous to the stay which may have caused the issue. We do feel we have provided adequate seating in the garden for guests use, we have a 2 person swing egg chair with a back in the garden, facing the best view. There are 2 benches by the fire pit. There is a standard bench near the parking area & another in the adjacent field facing the view There is a part of the garden, down the bank, that is not designated as garden by YDNPA which is why it has been left wild. We are sorry you had a problem with the front gate. We do have a large log left, right by the gate if people do want to prop it open. We do provide a very comprehensive pdf with arrival details so we apologize if you have missed this. We constantly monitor our prices to make sure we are competitive to the relevant properties and market and are sad to hear you felt it was overpriced.

We enjoyed a week at the house at Foxhole Rigg with the family. Lovely area. Beautiful house with a gorgeous sun room.
We have stayed in 2 other Mill house cottages and all are of an exceptional standard. Can’t wait to try another

Storm Kathleen howled and raged around the cottage and then it rained the other days. However we were so snug and comfortable. The wood burners were just fantastic and the garden room during the day with the wood burner wonderful. We were a family group of 6 and there was plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen was set up well and the table was a great size for monopoly!
Despite the rain we went to Kirkby Lonsdale which is delightful and Booths is excellent. Farfield Mill is such an interesting place to visit with so much to see and would be a high recommendation . Cautly Spout was a good walk too. There were lots of independent shops in Sedbergh and the Dalesman was able to provide gluten free food which was greatly appreciated.
The only downside is that the freezer is in the barn opposite and so getting the ice for a gin and tonic meant getting drenched!

Situated in the charming countryside of Sedbergh, this cottage has everything you need for a relaxing weekend. Bedrooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable, the two living rooms with fireplaces provide the perfect ambiance for relaxing, reading a book, playing board games or watching a movie. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you need for cooking a nice dinner. This was one of the best vacation rentals we have had in years, and we will definitely come back again.

We stayed for a week, my husband, me and two of our children, a 13 and 15 year old boy. The House is furnished tastefully, Le Creuset pans make cooking a pleasure.
Perfect location to make trips to Harrogate or even Liverpool. We also went to see Lake Windermere enjoying the Lake District.
The sheep on the way up to the house are lovely. Sometimes they like to be asked to move away in a friendly way, so the driver has to stay patient.
We shall definitely come back. The garden around the cottage was very enjoyable as we had the luck of very good weather.

Upon arriving, we were delighted that the cottage was so remote and with no one around (apart from the Barn, but that was empty for the week).

The house is stunning and beautifully decorated.

The views from the back are breathtaking and it was the perfect place to destress and unwind away from it all.

Highly recommend this location and perfect if you like walking, the Howgills offer plenty to go at.

We had a lovely few days at this cottage. Lovely views all around, looking esp onto the forest and trees from the sun room. Very elegantly and thoughtfully designed and equiped cottage, comfortable seating areas and bed. Immaculately clean and just wonderful to be in!

We had a wonderful few days in this gorgeous cottage. We normally stay in a different mill house cottage and were slightly apprehensive that this would not be up to the same standard but we needn’t have worried as cottage was beautiful! Fully equipped, comfortable in an idyllic location!

Very well equipped house, everything a family could need, added comforts such as wood for woodburner, toiletries, coffee pods, washing powder, dishwasher tablets, small things that make a huge difference.
Clean property, very well presented. Loved the selection of games, maps and books. Good instructions.
We would happily come back.

I needed somewhere remote yet functional with full WiFi and modern living appliances wrapped in luxury and with a stunning setting to work. I found it here. As a composer and song writer inspiration is vital and Foxhole Rigg provided it in abundance.
If you want the best it has to be Mill House Cottages.
