A cosy, fully equipped self-catering apartment in the heart of Jersey’s countryside, amptonne is steeped in rural history with over 45 acres to explore. The Cider Barn Apartment sleeps up to six guests and retains many original features of the building, including the original plaster work in the double bedrooms, early 19th Century graffiti and wooden beams. There are two double bedrooms and one twin bunk room with views across the courtyards and the surrounding meadows.

This is a unique opportunity to stay at a museum when everyone else has gone home. We enjoyed looking round the museum during opening hours and after everyone had left, we were able to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The flat above the cider barn is lovely and had everything you need to have a comfortable stay.

There are lovely animals in the gardens and a very lovely shop.

We were offered some cider from the 2023 barrel which was a treat.

The countryside is lovely, no problems with parking or driving around. We would recommend having a car if possible as it makes travel around much easier.

We our wedding at Hamptonne and decided to have a staycation a week after the wedding. All the Staff at Jersey Heritage were so helpful and extremely friendly and could not do enough for us during our stay. Highly recommend a stay cation and we shall certainly look to book gain in the future

We stayed for a week in July, and were so comfortable. The weather was very hot but there are fly screens on the farm-facing windows so we could ventilate the apartment well. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen well fitted out. We had a lovely time and hope to return soon!

We had a wonderful time at Hamptonne with our three children. Living at the farm was a great experience and they enjoyed so much feeding the animals every morning. The appartment was perfect, cozy and clean. You can park just next to the farm. When the place is closed in the evening, you have all the garden for yourself. Great play area for the kids ! Special thank you to the adorable people working at Hamptonne!

What a lovely place to stay. Full of character and history. It was so nice to see the animals and orchard too .

We had a lovely, relaxing weekend celebrating our daughter's birthday. It was very peaceful and the cider barn is very comfortable. We were so impressed with everything that was provided, including tea, coffee, bin bags, dishwasher tablets, soap, kitchen roll, loo roll, cooking oil, salt and pepper etc!

My friend and I stayed in the Cider Barn in early March and loved it - spacious, comfortable modern furnishings, really comfy beds and everything we needed for self-catering. We felt so cosy inside the thick granite walls on the first day when it was stormy outside. It was incredibly quiet and a great central base from which to explore the Island by car. The staff were extremely friendly - we got up early on the first day to help the warden feed the chickens (and even got fresh eggs!), piglets and calves. Would much prefer staying here to a hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Cider Barn Apartments. The staff in the booking process and on site were wonderfully helpful, the apartment itself was really cosy and it provided a wonderful staycation for us. The one improvement I would make would be getting a smart television for guests to be able to access streaming services to which they may subscribe. We were lucky in that we were able to take advantage of a staff deal for use of the site but if I was paying full price I would be disappointed that there wasn't a better television in place.

A wonderful place for a break. The cider barn was a charming place with space for 6 and all home comforts. Walking up and having the country life museum on your doorstep is an amazing experience

This is the second time we have stayed in the Cider Barn and it was fantastic. We stayed for 4 nights and all essentials for that long were provided. Our favourite thing is being able to access the site out of hours and having a chance to explore in the evening was so peaceful. A massive thank you to the site guardian Warren who was so polite and helpful whenever we saw him. He answered any questions about the site and the animals and even let us help feed the chickens their breakfast on the final morning. He is such a credit to the Heritage team. We will definitely be back!

Highly recommend staying at The Cider Barn at Hamptonne. The apartment is lovely and everything you need is provided. Even though there are modern aspects you feel you have stepped back in time and can really enjoy taking life at a slower pace. We thoroughly enjoyed walking round the grounds and feeding the chickens. The staff we met during our short stay were friendly and approachable and we are already thinking of when we can plan another stay in one of the other Heritage lets.

All good, highly recommended. Our family - aged 7 to 75 years - were very pleased with all the facilities and delighted with the museum and playground! The museum team were extremely helpful and gladly talked to the children. Just right ...

Upon arriving at the Cider Barn we were greeted by Warren, who showed us around the whole place including the historic buildings and farm animals.
You can feel the history of the place in the air and it’s lovely to see the farm animals up close.
All the staff were great and they couldn’t have been more accommodating.
I would highly recommend!

We had a great stay at cider barn. Being located within the jersey heritage site felt incredibly special. We loved all the roaming chickens and having the playground for the kids was perfect. It felt particularly unique when all the tourists were gone and we had the place to ourselves. The facilities in the apartment were good and clean. Would definitely recommend to other families looking for somewhere a bit different in jersey.

The location within the farm

We stayed at the cider barn for a week mid July. The barn itself is lovely with everything you need whilst self catering and very well equipped. The beds were comfy with plenty of towels. The farm itself is amazing my boys loved playing in the gardens after the museum closed to the public. They loved the animals and one morning even helped the staff feed them. We all had a lovely week and cannot recommend the cider barn enough! We cannot wait to come back. It was perfect! Tried to think of a negative but there really isn't one!

We loved our stay at the Cider Barn. It is big enough for 6 adults although we were all day as weather was good. Only 1 bathroom but there is an extra and separate loo which was useful. Bedrooms good size and comfy beds, even the bunks! The location is fantastic. The Hamptonne is a wonderful farm museum with old thatched buildings each from a different century of history. After 5pm you have the entire farm to yourself with chickens running free, pigs and cows. You get the complete run of the place and it was fantastic. Great outdoor seating so you can take your food and eat out in good weather. Would highly recommend but there again want to keep it a secret so we can visit again and again!!!

The Cider Barn itself was comfy, clean and fresh.
I did however feel a bit nervy staying there because the history included on the wall in the living area (of the pope hanging) and the rocking chair in the corner - this freaked me out. My own opinion of course as others may not feel like this.
I feel it was over priced and with no welcome pack whatsoever, not even a bottle of water. There was only tea and coffee but no milk available. I was a bit disappointed in that.
The surroundings are lovely and on a nice Spring/ Summer day it would be very enjoyable outside seeing the chickens and wildlife.

The Cider Barn cottage/apartment was perfect for our family of 5. The king, double and bunk rooms were all spacious and the beds were comfortable. The whole apartment seemed to be very clean. The lounge / kitchen was also very spacious with plenty of seating and two large comfy sofas. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you would need. The staff were very friendly and engaging. On the site, as well as the museum, there was a lovely cafe (perfect for the morning coffee) and a great play area for the kids. The kids had great fun feeding the chickens every morning and seeing the other animals (pigs/piglets, calves and sheep). So overall, fantastic!

Hamptonne is right in the centre of Jersey, close to a number of cycle routes, so ideally located for exploring the many green lanes and cycle routes around Jersey. We did all four corners of Jersey over 4 days, a total of around 80 miles. (We are not high speed road cyclists - we like taking in the views!)
The location in an active Museum seems a little strange at first and there are a couple of extra large barn doors that need to be locked if you come and go when the museum is closed. However, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the barn apartment is quite private, so isn't really affected by museum visitors.
Flies are a bit of a nuisance as there are farm animals in the other barns. Jersey Heritage have put fly screens on the windows and supply fly spray and fly catching lamps, but they still seem to get in!
Accommodation is quite spacious, with comfy bedrooms and a large lounge/dining/kitchen area. The bathroom and w/c are both a bit dated and could do with a revamp with a larger shower or bath. As is often the case in rental properties there was limited space for storing clothes. The main bedroom could do with a chest of drawers.

As a regular visitor to Jersey over the past 30 years to visit family resident on the island, we were delighted to use the Cider Barn for the first time. It particularly suited our needs and provided multiple interests to a family of 3 generations including 2 very active and curious French grandsons. I felt increasingly part of " Jersey Heritage" as I realized that my father was the same age as my elder grandson when they left on the last boat before the arrival of the Germans and his own father told him to take mother and younger children " back to Scotland" . His own father, James Robertson, had served in WW1, joined the militia and stayed on the island...the rest is History. My sister reminded me that when Hamptonne opened to the public, there was a photograph of my grandfather who worked for the department of Agriculture hanging in Syvret House. I was most moved to meet a member of your voluntary staff whose family had a similar story. Particular thanks to your staff in general who who made us feel very much at home.

The location of the Cider Barn is excellent for a group with children who can make use of the facilities (keys for access out of normal hours are provided), but even without children there would be great novelty value. The accommodation was very comfortable and the JH staff all went out of their way to be helpful. A call to the office to report a small issue on the first day resulted in someone driving out with the required equipment within a few hours. The on-site staff were very accommodating to our grandchildren and showed a genuine, caring interest in making their stay enjoyable - which it was. Would happily return.



Hamptonne is such a unique place to stay.

From the moment we arrived the Jersey Heritage Staff were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.
The whole site is amazing especially for myself and my party who love the countryside and farming history of Jersey.
We stayed to prepare for my daughters Wedding and were able to have some amazing photographs and filming done on the day including the arrival of the Horse and Carriage .
It was a truly amazing experience.
Couldn't fault anything.

A lovely, quirky and well-located base from which to explore Jersey. We were made to feel very welcome by friendly staff (and animals!). The apartment is well furnished and good for a group stay. It was nice to sit in the courtyard during the evenings. Providing you have a car, it’s easy to reach anywhere on the island.

My 5th or 6th stay here I think. Have to declare that we were forking for the buildings owners but if it wasn't up to scratch I'd say anyway. Its a brilliant site and we had a brilliant stay. The resident chickens are great fun (if a bit noisy early morning) and rooms and communal space just right, everything to a good standard. I knocked a point off the location as it would be a long walk to the pub!
