We had a fantastic stay and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The location was wonderful and we enjoyed the dramatic weather. Chris was very helpful and efficient. He was also very knowledgeable about the castle. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed watching a few episodes of Bergerac. The place was clean and tidy however there was a leak from the storm which hadn’t been fixed. Recommendations A plug/sink strainer for the kitchen sink Oil/ welcome hamper Toiletries for the bathroom. Bigger bed…. ESP for people who are over 6ft……. This is the second time we have stayed in the Cider Barn and it was fantastic. We stayed for 4 nights and all essentials for that long were provided. Our favourite thing is being able to access the site out of hours and having a chance to explore in the evening was so peaceful. A massive thank you to the site guardian Warren who was so polite and helpful whenever we saw him. He answered any questions about the site and the animals and even let us help feed the chickens their breakfast on the final morning. He is such a credit to the Heritage team. We will definitely be back!
Kerouac Adventures hosts adventure retreats focused on mental health. Kempt Tower provided us with an amazing space to run a board games night, film night and a series of art therapy sessions led by a trained psychotherapist and retreat leader. The location also aloud for reflective walks up to Grontez Dolmen, cold water swimming, star gazing and power kiting on the beach. The lounge, kitchen and shower room facilities perfectly catered for a winter retreat. Thank you for a great all round venue!
Stayed at the end of January for 4 nights. We were blessed with pretty decent weather for time of year so got to enjoy the seating on the balcony-type area as well as the rooftop viewing platform. Great layout, super-spacious rooms. Stairs are narrow and steep but manageable otherwise. The ground floor kitchen and bathroom, very clean and with everything we needed. Nice large dining table; Underfloor heating in kitchen and bathroom was a nice perk. First floor bedroom was ideal, leading onto terrace through the wartime-era entryway (with historic graffiti still intact!). Sat here f...more
We had a cold but wonderful experience at the fort. Was super Be prepared for the cold weather and bring more logs for the fire.
We stayed at the cottage for a couple of nights, which was exactly what we were looking for - romantic, quite and scenic spot with all the essentials at hand.It had board games provided, which was useful on rainy days. We had plenty of wood for the wood burner, which made it super cosy in the evenings. All the cleaning products and towels were included, which was very convenient. .
What a fabulous stay at La Crete Fort. It was blowing a gale in the bay but it felt so warm and snug in the fort. It’s fantastically well equipped and stylishly decorated. The sea views, out to Giffard Bay on one side and Bonne Nuit Bay on the other, are absolutely stunning.
We had a 3 nights stay at the Radio Tower and had an amazing time. We had seen the radio tower on a previous trip and promised ourselves we would come back and stay in the tower, it didn't disappoint, we also meet some of the jersey heritage team and they was very friendly and helpful. Hopefully we will be back again in the future.
We really enjoyed our stay. It was lovely waking up in the morning and being able to walk round the farm and see the animals. Be warned the cocks start crowing very early in the morning so if you are a very light sleeper you might want earplugs but it was no problem for us. The apartment is very clean and well laid out.
Really lucky with the weather and the wood stove kept us warm at night. Always great to stay here and watch the tide rise until we are on a tiny island. Basic comforts but a unique stay.
We had an amazing family trip in the unique location of La Rocco tower - waking up completely surrounded by water with some stunning sunset and sunrise views. We enjoyed swimming at low tide and fishing off the rocks. We were lucky enough to have a fantastic guide Peter, who kept us safe and was very well informed. Favourite heritage site so far!
A stunning little property with an interesting history. It's small and cosy, but really well equipped. You cannot help but stare out at the view the whole time. A perfect find if you like surfing, as it is simply a roly poly into the waves from the house, and then back to a hot shower. We loved our two nights there as a family of five. It was very special being able to bring our dog too.
Another inspirational weekend at Le Tacqueral Fort. 14 people braved the elements for our 5th installment of 'Journey into the Wild'. It is a beautiful location with just the right balance of leisure and 'roughing it' as we connected to nature. The sessions worked really well, and eating and swimming together were a joy. The weather meant that we could actually sleep outside in the fresh air which added to the whole experience.
I hired for my weekend of leaving dos and what a perfect location for it. The facilities themselves are basic and Heritage warn you of this. Just an added warning that you also share with some local wildlife! Food hygiene is a must - make sure you have boxes you can seal items like bread in. I was blown away by the surprise room in the tower. Perfect for when it gets a bit chilly or wet outside. In all, I'm leaving with the best memories from a perfect weekend stay at Lewis' Tower.
