Located on the renowned Island attraction, The Garlic Farm, The Milking Parlour was first built as a threshing barn and then used for milking cows. It is an attractive barn conversion on one floor with a comfortable and spacious sitting room and kitchen with vaulted ceiling. It has one double room with ensuite, one double room and one bunk bedded room and a shared bathroom.

Very much enjoyed our stay. Well equipped cottage but could do with a shelf for toiletries in en-suite and a mirror in 2nd bedroom. Very helpful owners - en-suite door stuck a bit and they solved the problem immediately. Very helpful visitor information was sent in advance to us and repeated as a book in the cottage- really good recommendations, especially Harvey Brown’s farm shop which we used each day. The on-site restaurant is good and very handy for lunch on arrival prior to check in. The on-site shop is good too - good for presents. Really nice walks around the farm - ideal for stretching the legs at the end of a day exploring the island in a car. The location is very peaceful and reasonably central so well placed for exploring the island.
All in all we would definitely recommend this cottage and would definitely return on another visit to the island.

Have wanted to stay here for some years. Came for an anniversary. Was a few minor issues which we left private feedback for, hopefully they were addressed, If I hadn’t t had to mention these it would have had more 5 stars.
I would stay here again.

Almost perfect as usual. Missed our discount for breakfast. Loved the peacocks coming for breakfast..didnt care for the children hitting chickens with big sticks and chasing them! Cockerell looked worried for his hens and tried rounding them up! Showers were a bit extreme from hot to cold quickly...probably me though! Kitchen area could do with a little spruce up and short on different culinary tools. But as usual had a great time in your enviable location!

A very big thank you.

We had the perfect stay at the Milking Parlour at the Garlic Farm. The setting is impossible to beat being surrounded by the most beautiful countryside. The location is excellent for getting to different attractions on the island. The garlic farm restaurant on site serves absolutely delicious food but because the farm closes to the public at 5pm it is very quiet at night, including the road. You’re more likely to be woken by sound of birds than you are people or cars.

The cottage itself was well appointed with everything we needed for our stay. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. You get your own private garden with seating and a bbq, perfect for the sunny evenings we had when we there.

The check-in instructions sent in advance were clear and easy to follow. If you’re coming from the mainland be sure to get the garlic farm to book your ferry for you as this saved us nearly £100.

Excellent accommodation that I would highly recommend.

We have stayed in many Air bnb/cottages and I can honestly say this has been one of the best equipped, informed and comfortable. Plenty of info given locally and around the island, nothing lacking in the kitchen or bathrooms, and even free gifts from the farm! Beds extremely comfortable. Any questions or issues dealt with very swiftly. Located in a stunning setting, beautifully maintained, with easy access to many beaches, and dog friendly - couldn’t ask for more and definitely will return - thank you team!

The accommodation was a great fit to our needs, was clean, easy to check-in and check out. There were a few Garlic Farm products on the dining table for us and some milk and basic bits to get going. The location was great and we had a great base. The Games Room was good and my 5 yr old loved it, there was less to entertain my 2 yr old and the playground could do with a slide and traditional type swing. We didn't get to meet our hosts - it would be lovely if they could pop by and say hi, although I do understand the benefit of being self-sufficient and enjoying family time just together. Thanks for a great stay and we'd certainly look to stay again with you on a visit to the Isle of Wight! Thanks.

We visited the Garlic Farm for a family wedding. I was a bit optimistic as I'd never been to the garlic farm before but I must admit I was wrong. It was incredible. Onsite facilities were amazing! The Milking Parlour itself was basic but at such a high standard. The beds were ridiculously comfortable, the showers were to die for. It had everything you could need when staying away from home. I loved that the parking was out the back as if we didn't want to see anyone we didn't have to use the "front door" which over looks the restaurant. We stayed here with our daughter (2 adults and 1 child) and we didn't feel like we were on top of eachother.

Our only downside is the kids play area could do with a few extra bits - our 6 year old was a bit bored after 2 goes on it. But we did the Halloween trail which was fun!

We'll be back next year to try the yurts!

We really enjoyed our stay at the garlic farm. We stayed in Milking Parlour, plenty of parking space, nice sitting area outside, peaceful at night ( except peacocks & goats making noise at 5am but we didn’t mind it ) very comfy beds, plenty of space in bedrooms, dishwasher was useful, everything was well thought out and we had everything we needed. The only thing was, we were confused by the restaurant opening times, on the main sign on the road it says 9am - 5pm but last orders are strictly by 3:30pm. Considering there is no shop nearby and only 1 pub down in the village it would be nice if guests would be able to dine in the restaurant at later times or perhaps preorder some kind of food. Also, after we mentioned we are staying at the farm and are entitle to 10% off the food bill, twice we were not given this discount, I had to go and sort it out, apparently it was difficult to make a refund and we wouldn’t get it for 3-4 days ( even we payed with cash! ) we had to wait until next day so we got our £10 off but they didn’t give us the discount from the new bill… it was little confusing and I felt it was unprofessional. It didn’t ruin our holiday, just watch out for the restaurant times and bill. Overall I would definitely recommend to stay at garlic farm and we would like to return one day. Thank you.

I have visited the Garlic Farm and the restaurant on many occasions and absolutely love it there. I come home and rave about the quality of the food and the amazing atmosphere there and after seeing the Christmas menu on FB decided to book the Milking Parlour for a weekend stay with some girl friends.
The accommodation was fabulous, spacious and comfortable with everything in it that you would need for a break or self catering holiday. I have learned from experience to book the garlic farm restaurant and so we had a lunch booking for afternoon tea, an evening booking for the Christmas mezze and a breakfast booking for the Sunday before we left.
We pre-booked the hampers for the accommodation which were well thought out, good quality produce and provided us with a lovely lazy breakfast and snacks through the day. The morning visits from the Peacock and hens made our day and the ease of getting to the restaurant made for a lovely weekend which was thoroughly enjoyed by us all.
The food and service as usual in the restaurant was fabulous and I can highly rate the Christmas Mezze.
If I had to find fault I would say that I would have liked some more savoury and more typical 'garlic farm' items included in the afternoon tea (maybe the garlic fries, garlic bulb, garlic bread, scotch egg etc) and less sweet items, however I am aware that afternoon tea is generally made up of sweet rather than savoury and therefore am scaping the bottom of the barrel for a fault.
As usual we had an amazingly relaxing and enjoyable weekend.
Thank you Garlic Farm

We spent a beautiful, relaxing (& scorching!) week staying in the Milking Parlour at the Garlic Farm. The Milking Parlour is spacious, clean, well equipped and very comfortable. The enclosed garden is wonderful for our little dog and we enjoyed the walks that surround the Farm in the early evening.

It is especially quiet in the evenings and we enjoyed sitting with the binocs watching the wildlife in the fields opposite. The Garlic Farm's resident Pea Hen was brooding an egg on the butress right outside the bedroom window - and the little Pea Chick hatched while we were there

The Isle of Wight is beautiful and we will be returning to the Garlic Farm as our accommodation for future visits.

So we pulled up and the view blew us away straight away.
We had plenty of space for out cars and it was private to us.
We went inside and again, it was beautiful, the high ceilings and beams.
The bedrooms are either end of the accommodation, which is great as made it more private and with 2 couples stopping , we had our own end’s effectively and bathrooms, perfect.
Coffee, tea, sugar etc left and a nice fresh pint of milk in the fridge for us, great after a long journey as a cuppa was well needed.
Slept like a log, a little wake up call from the Peahen which was great to see them wondering around.
The walks were lovely around the farm and the restaurant food is delicious, well worth a visit, the full English is yummy.
We have all said that if we return next year, we will be booking again.
Thank you for the nice welcome and the treats on the table.

Our resent stay on the garlic farm was both relaxing and treasured family time. The garlic farm offers something for everyone to participate in, from walks around the farm, tennis, games room and football match fun. We enjoyed a gorgeous week in July staying in the Milking Parlour at The Garlic Farm.

The Milking Parlour was wonderful – clean and spacious (with a great walk-in wardrobe to hide the cases away!). The garden was lovely, and the large table with seating and parasol were great for outside dining and, being fully enclosed, it was perfect for our little dog. The additional items we did not expect were icing on the cake – a large fan (it was a very hot week!), deckchairs, BBQ (clean and good to go) etc. We enjoyed some delicious local produce from the hamper we booked. We contacted Hugo regarding a small matter which he immediately resolved.

The Garlic Farm is wonderfully placed to enjoy the gorgeous Isle of Wight.

The whole site is lovely, with a games room and tennis courts tucked out of the way, and the walks around the farm in the early evening sunshine were beautiful. We have already booked for next year.

We had a lovely week at the Milking parlour. The house was clean, well equipped and practical. The location is absolutely gorgeous and the surroundings of animals (red squirrels, peacocks, sheep, cows etc) was charming. Games room has a good selection of stuff to keep the kids occupied. Tractor ride was informative and fun. Excellent customer service. We had an outdoor drains issue and though not ideal, they were very attentive to it.

Party of 4 - 2 adults and to children. It is a beautiful location and the kids loved seeing the peacocks and other farm animals. Accommodation was very comfortable and practical and it was handy having a bbq in the garden. We look forward to visiting again.

In a great location, peaceful with lovely countryside. The farm has various animals roaming around, peacocks, chickens cats. the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent. (breakfast, lunchtime specials, afternoon teas not to be missed!) The living areas are lovely. clean with everything you need . We love staying at the Garlic farm and now we have introduced our grand daughter to it it looks like a very long term relationship will be happening.

I love location .. lovely cottage just felt it could do with an extra cottage feel .. maybe dress curtains in bedrooms .. show pieces above on ceiling were there is space .. bedrooms bare .. maybe cushions and throws on beds .. just to give it more a cottage and cozy feeling .

Dear Ria, thank you for your review and comments. I would just like to point out that we had removed much of the soft furnishings as was explained in our covid precautions pre arrival letter. All cushions, throws and blankets had been removed so yes it would have felt a bit more bare than usual.

We loved staying at the Garlic Farm! Excellent communication with the team and instructions ahead of our stay, especially with multiple changes necessary due to imminent lockdown. Appreciated all the recommendations of places to eat, all the pubs we went to were excellent. Easy check in, beautiful cottage, comfortable stay. Friendly staff in shop and restaurant, amazing food! Would highly recommend.

Stayed for a week and it was my first visit to Isle of Wight. Loved the Garlic Farm, especially all the animals. The peahen with her two chicks was just lovely. Every evening this beautiful white bird roosted in the tree outside the cottage with her two chicks tucked under her wing to keep them warm. Goats, doves, highland cattle, horses and sheep added to the fun.
Cottage was warm, comfortable and well equipped.

Our welcome to the Garlic Farm was very warm and helpful and the organisation and information flow beforehand, as the Covid 19 restrictions were lifted, were very reassuring. We had notified Hugo and Michelle that we would be bringing our own bedding and our rooms were prepared as requested.

The cottage itself was a little ‘tired’ with one shower taped together and the entrance to the other bathroom being partially blocked by an old large sink placed opposite the bath. The windows were difficult to open and lock throughout because of the unusually high and old worn latches. This made it quite difficult to ventilate the rooms in the heatwave. Indeed, and we needed to climb on something to reach the latches. The fan was very helpful.

We spent a week in the Milking Parlour in the heat wave of August and we found the two fridges essential. The kitchen was very well equipped but the fridge door stuck and we had to double check that it was closed each time. It would also benefit from having its power supply labelled as this was accidentally turned off one evening.

No doubt this cottage is on the schedule to be upgraded. Certainly the photo on the website of the Milking parlour was out of date as a set of steps and ramp had recently been built, improving access. The power safety needs to be inspected as there were numerous extension cables bringing the power supply from less accessible parts of the rooms to where it would be needed.

Those rooms with blinds felt as though they could be kept cleaner than those with the velour curtains, although this might be being considered as the cottage is upgraded. The spider webs in the older room attributed to the difficulty of keeping the place comfortable in these times of Covid 19 when the cleaning schedule is so much more rigorous.

It was ‘interesting’ to hear wild life outside during the night. Certainly a change from our usual gulls and waves background where we live.
We would certainly return to The Garlic Farm with its excellent location and helpful owners but perhaps chose a cottage which has been finished to a more up to date specification as others on the site had been.

Had such a lovely time staying at the Garlic Farm for our family holiday this summer. Excellent facilities with the tennis court, football area, play field and games room and all felt very safe and very clean.
Even though the garlic farm as a tourist attraction was steadily busy, the holiday house itself felt very calm and peaceful.
House was in great condition with everything that we needed. Couple of minor issues that we experienced were dealt with without fuss and very swiftly which is a measure of great service.
Very much enjoyed the walks around the farm too especially once they were quieter once the farm closed to visitors from 5pm.
Cant wait to come back and would highly recommend.

Just arrived home from an amazing two weeks staying in the Milking Parlour cottage at The Garlic Farm.
We have all loved staying there so much I think we will be looking at the availability of another stay, long before we have done all the washing from this holiday!
Thanks to Melanie and Colin and all the very friendly and helpful staff at the Garlic Farm for making it such a wonderful place.
We’ve really enjoyed all the dog walks around the farm and seeing the beautiful sunflowers and so much wildlife - the red squirrels, even an owl and the many sightings of the kingfishers down at the lake!
The restaurant was very nice too for sampling the garlicy dishes on offer and the great garlic beer!!
Right, where’s the bottle opener for another delicious garlic beer, and the iPad to check the availability!!!
See you all again soon!

As a north east family we need a base to offer 13 relations some space to eat drink and catch up. The Milking Parlour has yet again proved perfect for the 2nd consequentive year. The farm shop/cafe offers an alternative coffee or a meal but when you dare based so centrally in the Island everything is only 10-15 mins drive away. Thoroughly recommended

Ideal for families of all ages. Flexible accommodation with an ensuite double room and a separate bathroom at the other end of the building serving two further bedrooms. Well equipped kitchen and a useful back entrance - ideal for muddy boots, coats.... and cleaning muddy paws! Games room on the farm which seemed to have a range of activities for all guests. Walks around the farm and surrounding area to keep the dog happy. Location close to port and clear directions with the booking confirmation. The Garlic Farm was interesting and well visited - but visitors did not impact on our stay at the farm as entrances and parking are not really shared. Would be happy to return if the opportunity arose.

We have just returned from a stay at the Garlic Farm and it was really lovely! We have two young children (5 and 2) and they absolutely loved the play area and seeing the animals (horses, peacocks, guinea pigs, Highland cows). The accommodation was lovely and the living space was great. The Garlic Farm is fantastic with a great restaurant onsite serving delicious food. I wouldn't hesitate to go back!

A lovely cottage on a beautiful farm set in amazing countryside. The cottage is very well equipped, there is a tennis court and raquets available, a childrens play room in very good condition and a nice restaurant if you do not feel like cooking. Great for walks, seaside, surfing, exploring the isle. Great for families.

This is a lovely location with the Garlic Farm on site for breakfast and lunches if you so desire. We went out most of the time to visit various attractions with the children and found this to be an excellent location being fairly central to get to everything quickly and easily.

The staff in the shop/cafe where friendly and helpful and the children were allowed to feed the 4 baby guinea pigs that they have! Out of hours when there was no staff around, we found ourselves helping new guests on where to go to so would advise that some signs would be helpful to direct new guests in.

The accommodation was well equipped with microwave, oven and BBQ (we used the BBQ!). Some little niggling things like the utensils could probably do with replacement now (the peeler was so blunt I could hardly peel a cucumber) and the built in fridge, the door would stick so you have to give it some welly to make sure it closed properly.

The only main comment I would make is that the property needed a good dust and clean, spiders/cobwebs everywhere and the general smell of dust in the air.

The Milking Parlour (together with the Little Mersley Farmhouse) was perfect accommodation for part of our group. The Boswell family were very helpful and supportive. Jenny's frozen dishes were delicious and generous! The cottage was well-equipped and clean. Set in a quiet valley, the Garlic Farm offers a range of activities as well as its own cafe, and makes a good base for exploring more of the Isle of Wight.

This was our third holiday at the Garlic Farm and the only down side was that our stay had to be so very short. We choose the Garlic Farm, because it gives us everything we want from a holiday - peace and quiet in lovely countryside, no stress or pressure to do anything except roam around the Island and "sit and stare". The Garlic Farm always makes us feel welcome and it takes no time before we feel really at home. Thank you to everyone involved in making our holiday perfect.

The communication between myself and Melanie & Hugo (the owners) was very good, they were very helpful with quick feedback. The Milking Parlout was superb a wonderful clean cottage with all the equipment you would require for a short break.I did most of the cooking whilst we were there as it was convenient. My grandchildren absolutly loved it there not only because there was many things provided for them to do and the location was near Sandown.
I would advise anyone to go there if they want the perfect break, we will definitely go abain.

A lovely setting and location. Easy enough to get to if you don't mind negotiating the odd country lane. Facilities were fantastic, just didn't get enough time to make the most of them AND see the island for the few days we were staying. Lots of safe outdoor space for children which was very well maintained. We did the tractor tour on our last day and didn't realise the extent of the farm, our fault! Accommodation was lovely. Loads of space and well set out. Would and have recommended 100% and we can see ourselves coming back soon. (and we are still enjoying our purchases made from the farm shop!)

Great nights stay in the Milking Parlour. Our hosts could not have been more accommodating. We had to be off before the cook was on duty for breakfast so the owners provided cereals and toast etc for our early departure. Great service.

Lovely comfortable stay. Good location, 20 minutes from ports, 10 minutes from beaches. Unfortunately crockery and cutlery dirty and all needed washing before use.

A perfect location especially if you like walking. Local pubs with excellent food within half an hours walk.
The Garlic farm has great facilities including great cooked breakfasts.
The cottage was excellent with everything you would need.
2nd stay would come again.
