What a lovely cottage and everything was perfect for dogs Buster 1yr old springer spaniel,Barney 9 month old Labrador and us two humans, a short walk and you are on the beach, coffee and bacon rolls from Scratby Bakery are just the best and so are their cakes, lots of great places locally to visit and very dog friendly.

Lovely cottage - quirky and characterful, but spacious too, clean and welcoming (thank you for the welcome goodies, much appreciated). Particularly enjoyed relaxing in the sunny conservatory with a good book and a cuppa.

On arrival I was initially apprehensive as the road was busier than I had anticipated, but this did not turn out to be any issue at all.

Amazing to be so close to such a gorgeous beach, we walked for miles. Useful shops, tearoom and fab bakery all within walking distance, lots of beautiful places to explore just a short drive away.

Excellent communication and service from East Ruston Cottages too.

Our first holiday in Norfolk and won’t be our last! A big thank you to all.

Initially you could be forgiven for thinking that the location of Brigg Cottage is not ideal. It's close to holiday parks and chalets which during high season gets busy. However I quickly fell in love with everything about Scratby and California.
The beaches are stunning and walks can be tailored to dogs and people of all abilities. We walked for miles in either direction. Once you get past the beach entry points where families congregate you generally have the beach to yourself
Brigg Cottage is set away from the caravan parks but close enough to enjoy the amenities and the bus service is good.
A great base for your doggy holiday

Great cottage but could do with bath mat ,plug on landing near dressing table, and a television with a bigger screen

Thank you for leaving your review Kelly. We are little puzzled by the bath mat comment as these are supplied for both the upstairs and downstairs bathrooms. There is an extension cable for the dressing table. TV screens are a little like duvet thickness, a very personal preference. At just over £100/night for 4 people we do consider that Brig Cottage was very reasonable value.

We really enjoyed our stay at Brig Cottage. The cottage is spacious and dog friendly, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. It is close to the beach, which is about 10 mins walk (the beach is year-round dog friendly) and to a bakery and a nice pub. A farm shop is not far away. The cottage stairs are very steep, and would be difficult for someone with mobility problems. We recommend this for people who want a quiet, dog friendly stay.

Brig Cottage is super cute! Parking right outside for ease of loading/unloading all the dogs’ and their luggage. It has the most fabulous sunny conservatory (dogs loved their sunny snoozes…). Completely enclosed garden with decking - superb for dogs. Jane, the owner, is very welcoming and the cleanliness is off the scale- even the inside of wheelie bins are kept clean. ERC’s impeccable standards just keep us coming back to Norfolk - when asked why we always go to Norfolk for our holidays….we have a mantra…. “with ERC our four legged friends get the best holiday experience for no extra charge or silly rules. Try it and Norfolk will forever be your destination.” I think we are a little bit in love with ERC and Norfolk.

Comfortable, well equipped cottage in a good location for some lovely beaches. The property is tastefully decorated and furnished. We found it very comfortable. The conservatory was a lovely place to have a cuppa and read when the weather didn't allow us to use the lovely court yard garden.

Another superb stay, The team were really helpful in finding us somewhere to stay within 3 weeks!

This time at Brig Cottage in Scratby, a gorgeous cottage close to the beach with everything we needed for us and our 7 rescue pugs.

Tastefully decorated, clean and spacious and with everything we needed, lovely welcome pack on arrival with treats for our fur babies.
I cannot recommend this cottage enough for location and Jane for being so doggy friendly everything inside and out is tailored for the dogs safety and comfort!
Brig Cottage is in a great location with a bakery, convenience stores and places to eat nearby or not far down in California more great places to eat.

The beach is huge, clean and only minutes walk from this delightful cottage.
Jane thank you so much for hosting us we have had a great week and our babies are all exhausted and happy. xxx

First impression was how clean the cottage was. Lovely welcoming touches such as heating on, fresh flowers and goody baskets for us and the dogs. Fully equipped with everything you could want or need.
Cottage was lovely and warm and very cosy.
Only down side was the staircase it was a little steep and twisting which was a challenge but do able and didn't spoil our stay at all.
Had a fantastic week away, would definitely recommend.

We had a great time at brigg cottage. All the local places that are recommended are lovely especially the bakery! The beach down the road was so lovely and beautiful! Most importantly the dogs absolutely loved it! Never seen them so tired!!

What a clean cozy comfortable cottage. The position was great , only a ten minute walk to miles and miles of glorious beach. Jane the owner has made lots of thoughtful touches for the dogs and the humans. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to stay in this area. The only downside was the dishwasher wasn’t working so we were asked not to use it which meant a lot of time spent washing up!

Brig Cottage is warm, comfortable and very dog friendly. It is a 10 minute walk to a beautiful sandy beach which was great for the dogs. The beds were comfortable, kitchen well appointed and powerful shower with plenty of hot water. No complaints from us at all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Brig Cottage.

We had a fabulous time at Brig Cottage. The location is fantastic for beach walks with the hounds. There’s a friendly bakery at the end of the road which is handy for picnics and a walk along the beach to The California Tavern is ideal for a dog friendly meal out.
The communication throughout from East Ruston Cottages could not have been better and there is a strong sense of them wanting you and your canine friends to have the best time. Well done Jane. We will certainly book again.

Brig Cottage is really lovely and situated a very short walk to the beach. The property was spotless and had everything we needed and we enjoyed our short break. The village has great takeaways, a bakery, garden centre, farm shop and plenty of other eating spots a walk or short drive away. The beach is sandy and wide enough to get space if you have reactive dogs like mine.
The only very minor thing is that my dogs found the gravely garden uncomfortable to walk on and the small section of 5ft boundary could be topped up with some trellis maybe so you could let the dogs sit out without constant supervision.
Thanks for a great break, hopefully we’ll be back next year!

What a fab place Brig Cottage is. Perfectly located, quiet and lovely sunny garden. Cottage was spotless and goodies were an added bonus. Dogs loved the long walks (12 miles on one adventure) and my mum could wander to the shops. Didn't need to drive anywhere as everything was close by. Just what we wanted from a holiday. Thank you

Really pleasantly surprised by our whole experience from the excellent communication by East Rushton Cottages through to the gorgeous location and very dog friendly cottage.
We have been to dog friendly cottages before - but this was above and beyond. From the provision of crates, bowls, dog towels, treats etc. through to the fully enclosed back garden and the information on local dog friendly places; we really appreciated the effort to keep our dogs happy...and they were so happy! We have never seen our foreign rescue (1 of our 3 dogs) so chilled - she is a nervous dog and can be quite reactive. The welcome treats for the humans were also fabulous and a lovely touch. We honestly couldnt have wanted for any more from our holiday.

Virtually everything you could possibly need and beautifully clean, we had a glorious week in Brig Cottage. Lovely walks on Scratby beach, Happisburgh Beach and in Bacton Woods followed by lunch in various pubs (including The lighthouse, The Hill House and The Star at Lessingham) Late afternoons sitting in the sun trap garden. Just lovely although could do with an extension lead so you can dry your hair on the landing without having to move everything.

Great location for beach walks and days out. Lovely bakery at end of road and lots of options for eating out and day visits. Recommend Broads boat hire as a day out. Smoke house and whites are good for dining.Lovely clean property full of character , with lovely welcome pack.Great for dog owners. Bumped into the owners when collecting the car, lovely people.

We checked the price paid and just over £700 for a sleeps 4 property at a peak time of year in a village where you can walk to the beach as well as enjoy the dog friendly pub, cafe and shops would normally be considered pretty good value for money but I do appreciate that this can be subjective.

We appreciated having a properly secure garden as even though we keep a close eye on dog he did manage to get through a hedge once on holiday. Cottage has everything you would expect. Loved the treats for the dog and the chocolate brownies for us. Also thanks for taking in Sainsburys delivery this made our first night so much easier.

Even better than the first two visits as the bed and sofas had been upgraded. Brig is a real home from home, a lovely comfortable cottage to spend a week. Walking distance to lovely beach as well as a few eateries. Thanks Jane for another super stay.

The best dog friendly accommodation we have ever stayed in. Spotlessly clean with a well equipped kitchen. Throws and crate provided and my four dogs loved the garden and I knew even my beagles could not escape. Beds and linen high quality I have nothing but praise.

We visited Brig Cottage for a 4 night stay. This was the first time we’ve stayed in a dog friendly cottage and we were so impressed. The welcome pack was such a lovely touch and we were immediately impressed at how well kept the cottage is. You’d never know dogs had been in there! The beds were super comfortable and we all had great sleep. The location was perfect as it was just a short walk to local cafes/shops and lots of other lovely places were only a short drive away. The staircase was very twisty so probably best avoided if there are mobility issues, but we all loved the quirkiness of it. We’d love to come back if our holiday entitlement allows it!

We have just spent a week at brig cottage, and may I say it is a lovely little character cottage, in the lovely little village of Scratby.
It has everything you need both in the cottage and village, beautiful bakery, cafe, fish&chippy, as well as an amazing beach, which our two doggies loved.
We shall be returning as everyone is so friendly and always up for a chat, specially the locals.
Would definitely recommend, and as a lovely back garden (sun trap) if your weather is good.
Well done to ERC, sue for your help as always and your team, and the lovely owner Jane.

Beautiful cottage in absolutely gorgeous area.
Extremely well organised and dog friendly.
Thoughtfully decorated, maintained, furnished and really clean.

Would highly recommend to anyone.

Low ceilings, as you would expect in a cottage, but if your 6ft plus and not alert it can be a peril.
Two petty moans downstairs bathroom really cold (early April visit).
Use of feathered cushions etc a cruel filling which upset me.

We enjoyed our stay at Brig cottage, it is a quaint and quirky cottage with a space for parking so close by. The beds are so comfy (being vegan was disappointed that duvets and pillows are feather though). The upstairs bathroom is really lovely, great shower! Also really useful to have a bathroom downstairs. The cottage was exceptionally clean and well maintained, very well equipped with lots of extras, such as the dog cupboard with towels for the dogs, poo bags, spare leads, etc. Lovely welcome pack which was much appreciated. Great location as just a short walk to the fabulous sandy beach and local bakery which we made good use of! Stairs are a bit awkward and steep but carpeted and hand rails to help.

A very last minute, spur of the moment break, booked the day before we arrived, the booking was handled professionally and immediately.
Brig Cottage is perfect if you want leave the car, and walk to miles of beach with the dogs. An extremely well maintained cottage with everything you could need. The stairs are not for less agile or people with mobility difficulties but that’s stated on the advert.
A lovely welcome pack of bread, fresh coffee, milk, cookies and treats for the dogs just added to its charm.
The dogs loved the garden/patio which although compact is nice and secure.

We would definitely recommend and stay again.

Took advantage of a 3-night December deal, having used East Ruston on many occasions once again we were not disappointed!
The cottage itself is beautiful and the owner has added some thoughtful details to make it very homely. There was a brilliant welcome pack awaiting and a stunning Christmas tree to add that festive feel. The heating was more than adequate for the sub-zero temperatures outside thankfully! Would love to return in warmer weather to take advantage of the pretty courtyard garden. We had 4 dogs with us and they settled in straight away and enjoyed the walk from Scratby to Winterton, mixing beach/dunes routes. Most local shops were understandably shut but Hirst’s farm shop/cafe was great.
A brilliant base for exploring the area, be aware the stairs are very steep and winding and the outside decking extremely slippery in the frosty weather ( a note was left to warn us!) but definitely a great dog friendly place to stay .

Lovely cottage, very comfortable - everything we needed for a relaxing few days away - 2 friends with 4 dogs.
Downstairs is open plan and would have benefitted from a stairgate to contain damp dogs.
Many shops closed locally but Scratby bakery was open 6 days a week, Angelos Cafe is open 9-2, great lunches and breakfasts and very dog friendly. There is also a good convenience store at the garden centre. Beach was very empty and huge...about 10 mins walk from the house. Had a lovely walk up to Winterton for a pub lunch. Also walked down to Caister but not many places open there for lunch.

This was actually our second stay, having stayed in May. The cottage is a short walk away from the beach, but even though we'd booked in half term/Jubilee weekend there was still plenty of space to enjoy the fantastic beach. The cottage ticks all the boxes - enclosed garden, offstreet parking, bath & shower, washing machine etc. Enjoyed the cafes & pubs within walking distance and also within a short drive. The owners are lovely (as is the owner of East Ruston Cottages) and we felt very welcome during our two stays.

Brigg Cottage was a perfect base from which to explore the local area. Yummy treats provided on arrival for both humans and dogs, and lots of dog ‘stuff’ should you need it such as crates, extra bowls etc. We spent our time around the Winterton/ Horsey coastline and walking at the National Trust Horsey Wind Pump site.

Brig cottage is a cosy little place which is really set up for dog owners. It's in a great location within reach of wonderful dog friendly beaches and your dog is well catered for. No question is too silly and customer service is excellent. There's a small secure back garden and dogs are allowed upstairs (bring your own bedding if they will be sleeping on the beds). Great showers!
There are some very steep stairs which would be difficult for someone with poor mobility but I have two knee replacements and managed surprisingly well despite my heart sinking when I saw them. I'd have no hesitation in recommending Brig Cottage to friends.

This was our second stay in an East Ruston Cottages property and it really lived up to our expectations. Everything was beautifully clean - a priority for me. There was a lovely welcome pack for the humans, thank you so much, and doggie treats, crates, bowls etc for Monty. Brig felt like home from home from the moment we walked in. The location is perfect, with the beach minutes away at the end of the road, plus a fabulous bakery, a convenience store and places to eat. We didn't want to leave.

We stayed at Brig cottage in July, the cottage was lovely and clean on arrival with a much appreciated welcome basket. Kitchen is small but we weren’t planning to cook anything elaborate and it was well equipped. Both bathrooms were clean and the showers were nice and powerful. Beds were comfortable.
We had a lovely Sunday roast at Whites lounge, good fish & chips from Trisha’s Chippy, stopped for a cream tea at Tastebuds cafe (scones were delicious).
Had a nice meal at Fisherman’s Return and also The Bridge pub at Acles with nice views of the boats on the Broads.
We took a lovely boat ride with Broads Tours in Wroxham (I wanted to hire a boat but my daughter did trust my boating skills!) good pet shop across the road from the tours office and then went to Wroxham Barns to look around the craft shops - Lady B Loves vintage fashion is a lovely shop could of spent hours in there.
Bacton Woods was lovely for the pooch and nice and shaded.
The Clipper bus in Great Yarmouth was nice and easy from the bus stop across the road, we had a lovely walk along the seafront.
Would recommend and definitely come again. Only slight issue was how bright it was in the front bedroom in the mornings, curtains along with the blind would make a big difference.

Beautiful Cottage, very comfortable, totally dog friendly, ideally located within walking distance to the beach, also short drive to many other beaches, local bakery across the road was amazing, different choices to eat out, a great area to visit if you have dogs as everywhere is dog friendly, good for reactive dogs also as there are so many beaches and sand dunes, you can do as much or as little as you like totally relaxing. A great place for a holiday and East Ruston Cottages have so many to choose from.

We spent a fabulous long weekend with our dogs. The cottage is in great condition; really comfortable with a safe enclosed garden. The beach is a short distance and you can walk for miles along the beach or coastal path to nearby villages with decent pubs.
The welcome pack for both us and the dogs was unexpected and greatly appreciated. We will definitely be back.

The cottage looks small but is surprisingly spacious inside, especially upstairs. Very steep staircase - so not really suitable for people with mobility issues. The garden has raised decking which our old dog found difficult to get onto. The cottage is light and airy, well equipped and clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 days there. Especially loved the huge fireplace which our dog declared her den.

Brig cottage is in a fabulous location. A short, easy walk to a lovely sandy beach which takes you past an excellent bakery, and a couple of shops. The tea rooms and Whites serve delicious food and snacks so you are spoiled for choice within metres of the front door. The cottage is equipped with everything you need to make your stay a truly relaxing experience. Dog bowls, treats, spare collars, towels and leads are also available should you need them. There are leaflets with suggestions of where to visit and the owner is easily contactable if you have any questions. If you don’t fancy taking the car out then the bus stop is 100 yards from the front door. The welcoming pack and flowers discovered in the kitchen was a lovely touch and made for a great start to a brilliant week away. Thank you.

Absolutely everything had been catered for. The cottage was lovely, so for humans gave a comfortable relaxing break, but the way they catered for you taking you dogs was something I’ve never experienced before. They had thought of everything, just in case you hadn’t. Dog towels, bowls, spare leads and the best thing for me was the freezer for raw feed and the ability to have it delivered to the cottage, I had a nasty experience with thawing raw feed before now.

A lovely well thought out cottage with all we could of needed for a relaxing weekend away.
Fully dog friendly our two lurchers soon settled in , having spare dog bowls towels and leads available as you never know what you may forget .welcome pack was a nice touch thank you.

We loved our stay at Brig Cottage. It was very cosy and comfortable and had everything we needed. The garden was especially dog friendly as no grass and therefore no mud! As our February break was out of season for the area, there wasn't anything open in Scratby itself, but we found nearby shops and cafes ok. The proximity of the cottage to the wonderful sandy beach is great.. wake up.. see start of sunrise.. get to beach with your dog in time for wonderful skies! We loved the beach and being able to walk for miles in each direction. Thanks for a lovely week!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Brig Cottage. Being able to take a short walk to the beach was a real treat. Our every need was provided for as we have come to expect from ERC. Although they didn't bother us, the only slight downsides were that the dog wasn't allowed upstairs and getting ourselves up the stairs was a bit of a challenge.

My family and I had a great week at Brig Cottage. Everything we needed and more was waiting for us upon arrival. The cottage was spotless and well equipped. We had a lovely welcome note and goodies from the owners on arrival. Very clean and fresh cottage in a great location for beaches and exploring the coast. We had great weather for September and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this well equipped property.
