We booked a last minute short break and couldn’t believe how stunning the property is. Very large, secure garden (I have small dogs) which meant I could have them in the garden without worry about them escaping. The house itself is beautiful and huge effort has gone into making it perfect in every way. The large log fire was the icing on the cake with the chilly evenings drawing in. Many thanks for one of the best welcome packs ever which included lovely local produce. I can’t fault this property and hope to come back. First class from booking to checking out, East Ruston Cottages have got it spot on .

Another perfect stay and time spent at our favourite ECR property. Rooster Barn does not disappoint and we find that every repeat visit just makes us love the barn even more. The interior is cosy and welcoming, beautifully furnished with comfy furniture, a well-stocked kitchen and lovely details throughout the property.
The outside space is perfect for dogs and our 2 love the space and being able to run around. The coast is not far and there are plenty of footpaths near the property.
Going back again next month and we cannot wait! Our perfect holiday space ...

Rooster Barn is a gorgeous property and it was a holiday we were so looking forward to. Everything was provided that we had requested as we were bringing a dog with some mobility issues. Customer service was excellent. Loved the location of the property. Sadly after only one day one of our dogs became very poorly and we had to dash back home (6hrs away) and could only return to pack up and leave . Sue was so helpful and sympathetic, helpfully managed to rebook our second week which we were so grateful for.
If you ever need a reason to book with East Ruston Cottages then our experience tells you why. Brilliant customer service together with amazing properties.
We will be back!

You really can not fault this Barn. There is everything you need plus a few things you didn’t know you did! The welcome goody packs for both humans and dogs are so good! You can drive in, shut the gate, and your hounds are totally secure.
We found we got to the Mundersley beach quickly, but there are so many places to visit.
All dog friendly. Blickling Hall, Felbrigg Hall and Morston Quay we recommend a visit.

The best compliment I can give after we’ve said it all over the years is that we both said the same when we returned to Rooster Barn this year; ‘it feels like home’! The dogs love it & so do we! All you could want for a relaxing & truly dog-welcoming & dog-friendly stay, within easy reach of exploring all around. Love it that with East Ruston Cottages you can trust it when they say ‘secure garden’ & ’dog friendly’ & ask if not sure. After all, when taking dogs on holiday, if they’re happy & safe, we are!
The sun even shone too which was unexpected given the Summer so far!
Lovely & clean on arrival with welcome goodies for us too, & more importantly (of course), the dogs!

Lovely pubs & food nearby, the Vernon Arms & Ship Inn (booking advised). The Small Sticks Cafe too for a dog-friendly stop-off/snack (check opening times).

The loveliest & best two secure dog fields EVER at Martham Paw Ground (& we’ve used a lot over the years). Lovely owner & so well-kept. Booked in advance for second year running.
Also Seaview Dog Meadow, a smaller but lovely secure dog field near Holt/Blakeney where we booked on the same day (lucky) for an afternoon slot whilst over that way like last year.
Booking for both is easy.

A HUGE thank you to the owners of Rooster Barn, all at ERC (always fantastic service, plus much appreciated return discounts & vouchers too), & those who work hard to keep it clean for us all - not easy with all the visitors furry & not so I’m sure.

East Ruston Cottages were very easy to deal with and they are truly dog welcoming. They provided all the necessary information in the lead up to the holiday. Rooster Barn is well placed in Trunch, and there were so many good walks from the house. The barn itself was very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Liz was very communicative and left a wonderful array of human and dog treats. We had a lovely relaxing week and I would have no hesitation in recommending either Rooster Barn or East Ruston Cottages if you wish to visit North Norfolk

Rooster Barn was ideally located for access to the fabulous Norfolk beaches and some great woodland walks. Inside the accommodation was clean and comfortable with access directly onto the patio from the lounge. The property is surrounded by high hedges which makes it very secluded and our two cocker spaniels loved running around in the huge garden. We would fully recommend a walk (5 minutes up the lane) to the nearby Crown pub for a Pie and Mash. Overall we were very pleased with our stay at dog friendly Rooster Barn and would fully recommend to anyone looking for a getaway in a quiet corner of Norfolk.

The garden was very secure and the parking within the property was ideal.
When you think you have taken everything you need on holiday BUT ALSO FIND IT AT THE PROPERTY, then you realise what a well thought out, well stocked property it is! It was the perfect size and layout. It had wonderful open access to a seating area at the side and a large enclosed lawn. We found a walk locally and the lane walks were quiet and safe. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Dogs were well provided for and having all facilities made such a difference, and I mean also a hosepipe as I have mud lovers in two of my dogs. Management is only an e mail away if there is an issue and they are positive and friendly. I loved our week there.

What a gorgeous cottage! From the moment we arrived we loved it. We loved being able to park on the gravel in the garden and shut the gate - made getting the dogs out of the car SO much easier! And we knew that they would be safe in the garden - the description on the website is spot on. Inside is so charming and welcoming and easy to relax in. Loved the textured flooring - made it so much easier for our old boy to get around. The fire was wonderful - we almost wished it was colder so we could use it more! The kitchen was really, really well equipped - we even found a seafood eating kit!! Which is perfect as we discovered lots of places selling local fresh crab! When we did eat out there were so many dog friendly places nearby and we explored the beaches (loved Mundesley and Overstrand) and had two lovely walks in the grounds of Felbrigg Hall and Blickling Hall nearby.

There was a lot of really useful information in the house, the digital guide that we were sent was really helpful too. Honestly we didn't want for anything. Even the welcome pack was well above what we expected with all sorts of goodies. Definitely will be coming back to this one and this fabulous part of the country. Don't think we have ever been anywhere SO truly dog welcoming!

Christmas at Rooster Barn. ….. magical! This was our 3rd visit this year, yes we are hooked. The barn is just stunning, a beautiful conversion with loads of exposed timbers. Cosy open living/dining space with a double sided wood burner and comfortable seating arrangements. All creature comforts are provided and our dogs love the barn and garden. Short distance to the coast for seaside walks and a lovely village pub. Have already booked 3 stays for next year… can’t wait!

Our 3rd stay at Rooster Barn with our dogs, and they love the space and comfort as do we. The barn is beautifully and thoughtfully decorated, making it the most amazing cosy holiday home. The garden is a great space for essential zoomies and provides a marvellous evening environment for a glass of wine or two. Lunch/Dinner in the courtyard garden listening to birdsong ... idyllic to say the least.
Happisburgh and the coast are a 15-minute drive away, Fellbrig Hall, Sheringham Park, Hillside Animal Rescue Centers and many more sites for touring around. A special mention for The Crown (Village Pub) for their amazing array of pies and mash concoctions, the Lighthouse Inn and last but certainly not least, The Fair Maiden Fish Shop in Happpisburgh. Kirsty runs a tight ship, and you can expect the most amazing fresh seafood!
We will be back in December to celebrate Christmas at our favourite East Ruston Cottage.... can't wait.

After visiting last year for the first time (we re-booked within 2 days), it was great to return to Rooster Barn. The area is tranquil and has so much to offer, particularly as we have two young dogs who love to have off lead walks and sniffs.
Everything you could want for a home from home. Great places to visit all within 10 miles or a 15 minute journey. Highly recommend.

What an amazing find Rooster barn is just perfect from the moment you close the gate behind you and let your fur babies out of your car you can relax the garden is a lovely size and so so safe which was so important to us ….when you enter the barn is like stepping into someone’s home it smells fresh and clean which considering most customers using the barn has dogs is quite an achievement! The kitchen is so well equipped which was lovely for me as I love to cook and it’s so frustrating when there is little or no equipment to do this….. our two dogs settled straight away they always loved to go off for the day but they were just as happy to return at the end of the day they were first at the front door waiting to go in for dinner then straight on there beds we never heard a peep out of them for the whole evening
The barn is situated in a great location so close to everything so we didn’t need to travel to far national trust properties were all around 20 mins to half an hour away we used all three as the walks were just beautiful
The Alby craft place which is just down the road from the barn was lovely for a quick lunch it’s an Artisan cafe which is extremely dog friendly watch out for the peacocks if your dog is reactive to our feathered friends as one of ours is !!!! Local trunch honey which is just across the road from the barn just follow the lane up a little highly recommend beautiful honey ❤️
I could go on and on …..the bottom line is I would recommend Rooster Barn 100% you will have an amazing time there …would we go back …… absolutely

This was our first visit to Norfolk and we were not disappointed, the area, beaches, walks etc were wonderful.
As for Rooster Barn, it was second to none it is set at the end of a small unmade track, the garden is so private and extremely safe for our Houdini Border Terrier, he was able to play without us having to worry that he would escape. This was paramount to us as we could actually relax, other properties we've stayed in advertise an"enclosed garden"but more often than not there is a way out somewhere. East Ruston Cottages go to great lengths explaining in detail the real facilities available to dogs (and humans), so we knew it would be safe before we booked.
The barn itself was lovely, quiet, very private spotlessly clean and very nicely presented. We wanted for nothing from practicalities (cooking, cleaning etc) to information(lots of it) of places to visit, eat,. You name it, they supplied it.. There was a lovely welcome pack with lots of goodies for humans and doggies...
Unusually, they also supplied washing, dishwashing and cleaning products.. Brilliant

Very sad to be home and we will certainly be back sometime. I don't think we will ever find another place or agency to beat this one.... Thank you ERC for this.. We felt like a guest rather than a customer.

A charming barn conversion with lots of character. Perfect location for beach and countryside.
Good dining area and ample seating in the lounge area. Great flooring for dogs, non-slip and easy to keep clean. Excellent spacious bathroom and toilet facilities.well equipped kitchen and good choice of pots,pans and cookware.
Really could do with a larger freezer. Only just managed to get in the raw dog food for 3 dogs. Great sized fridge though.
Lots of cleaning products supplied so no need to take any.
The weather was warm and summer weight duvets would’ve been more suitable. It was very hot upstairs, so glad I was in the downstairs bedroom! The steep paddle stairs are a bit of a challenge especially if you need the loo in the night which is downstairs. The floor upstairs is very creaky as one would expect for a property of this type but it could disturb those in the bedroom underneath.
Garden was a very good size. Not overlooked at all. Some noise from neighbours dogs occasionally but that’s to be expected given the location (and the property description does highlight the possibility) The wooden 7 bar gate cannot be locked so anyone can open it and enter the garden as I found out when two people appeared at the kitchen door! After this happened I tied the gate up but a chain and lock would be ideal.
I’ve tried to be frank and honest about the property, I have booked another week here next year and would recommend it to my friends giving them the above information. I think all holiday properties realistically have good and some not so good points. It depends on personal taste and requirements.

Thank you so much for your very informative review! Very useful for anyone wanting to know another guests' take on our Rooster Barn. Whilst I don't think there are any plans at the moment to replace the fridge/freezer we can suggest that guests can always bring their own plug in cool boxes if they have them or maybe do split orders through out the week with our local supplier - The Raw Dog Food Company - as they offer free delivery to all ERC properties and a minimum £10 order level. I appreciate that wouldn't suit everyone but it is an option. I have suggested to the owners that they provide a sign on the gate to indicate that dogs are running loose and not to enter. I wonder who the 2 visitors were? Being in such an out of the way location, it is not at all normal to get casual callers. A lock on the gate would be an option but we are reluctant to do so as it could impede the access of emergency services but a sign would certainly help for the rare occasions anyone has a requirement to visit unannounced. This was our second stay at Rooster Barn and our third holiday with East Ruston Cottages.
Absolutely everything that we might need, or the dog was there, along with a delicious welcome pack for humans and dog alike.
The enclosed garden with plenty of room to park the cars is fantastic. Very private and relaxed.
The whole process from booking to departure is made easy and we were well informed. Sue is very good at answering any questions you may have.
Would thoroughly recommend both Rooster Barn and East Ruston Cottages for a truly dog welcoming holiday experience!

We have stayed in this rental before and its excellent and well furnished. Situated off road in a little village called Trunch, locals are very friendly and there is a lovely Circular walk round Trunch which our dog loved. If you want a restful holiday this is the place and of course you just have to jump in your car and visit the beaches and towns nearby. The local pub The Crown is just up the road but we wouldn't recommend eating there as they only do pies and nothing else. The Vernon Arms is quite near although we didn't eat there this time but have eaten there a few years ago, but it is popular by the number of cars in the pub car park. Needless to say East Ruston Cottages are a good company to use and I would not hesitate recommending them.

Great location for visiting local places such as beaches, towns & forest walks. Very dog friendly with everything you would need. Fantastic welcome pack included.
Garden ideal as safe for our lurchers to run in.
Found barn quite cold, especially downstairs bedroom. Had dog throws over me in evenings on sofa. We have 3 log burners at home but found this one quite difficult to keep going. Also neighbours are very close & whilst we were there they constantly opening & closing car doors.
There is no local shop now which we found out after walking around the village.
The pub has live music which you can hear easily at the barn but there is also a local band who practice close & the sessions are monotonous!
We would use East Ruston again without doubt but not this location as we love peace & quiet.

Thank you so much for your review. It is very appreciated. Some time ago we updated the website and the Touchstay guide to remove the village shop - a real shame it closed but the owners retired and nobody wanted to take it on. Thankfully the village pub remains as a venue for visitors and locals alike to enjoy. I am sorry you were disturbed by the neighbours - out of our hands I am afraid and normally not an issue that is reported to us. We have no record of a report of the house being cold during your stay - if we had then we could have very easily sent someone over to check the underfloor heating was working correctly and set up the woodburner for you. We do ask that any problems are reported to us at the time they are experienced to give us the opportunity of putting things right and avoiding negative reviews. Hopefully your next stay with us will be quieter and warmer - do please feel free to ask for our recommendations as we know the properties all very well. [email protected]

This was our second stay at Rooster Barn and we have already booked 3 more!
The barn is a glorious home from home building, atmospheric and very cosy, specially in the winter. Bad weather is no problem as staying in is as much fun as going out. Beautifully decorated and offering all creature comforts for humans and canines.
Delightful garden which is a real sun trap and a large grassy area for the dogs to go tearing around in.
The coast is only 10 minutes away and supermarkets near by for shopping, perfect!
Looking forward to our next stay…

A fabulous location which puts you in reach of all the beautiful beaches and calming country walks. The cottage is fabulously relaxing and has everything you could possibly need. The Garden is well enclosed and although it has neighbours is feels very private. Probably the most enjoyable holiday I have had with our 4 energetic and reactive dogs. Walks were much calmer and we were able to cover long distances as it was so quiet - Friday afternoon we were able to spend hours on the beach and only saw 4 people! The village of Trunch is beautiful with some gorgeous properties and very friendly people who look so happy, as would I if I lived here too! Beware of the stairs on the upstairs bedroom - they are very steep and take some getting used to. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you could need and the dishwasher and washing machine came in very handy. I would stay here again in a heartbeat but could do with an extra bedroom - I will be very hard pushed to find something so lovely but a little larger I think.

Had a great week at Roister Barn. The barn was so full of character. Beds comfy, wood burner a delight and so well equipped. The welcome pack was very much appreciated and the doggies loved their treats too. Also the bottle of wine for hubby's birthday was a nice touch, thank you. The dogs loved the outside. It was very secure. Plenty of space for the 4 dogs we took including a 72kg St Bernard. When they say pet friendly they really are. Dog throws, towels, bowls, toys and dog crates everything you need for your pooches. Will always use East Ruston Cottages in the future.

Fabulous stay, quiet and rural. incredibly dog friendly area.
Some good restaurants around, can recommend The Gunton Arms for food in particular.
The village Pub The Crown are very welcoming and offer a doggy drink and treat station.

Rooster Barn truly is like home from home. The barn itself is just beautiful and the garden - well it’s huge and secure and is a wonderful safe space for the dogs to run about in. From the moment you shut the gate behind you and open the car door you can relax. The space around the barn is amazing for a holiday cottage. Inside the barn the owners love for their property is evident throughout. The kitchen is extremely well equipped, the whole accommodation is spotlessly clean and comfortable. We have stayed here numerous times now and love, love, love it. The owner provides so many things for the dogs - throws for the furniture, dog towels, bowls, treats, poo bags - honestly these touches make packing the car so much easier. A raised feeding bowl was especially provided for our stay this time as our elderly dog struggles to bend down to a bowl on the floor. We absolutely cannot recommend Rooster Barn enough. And East Ruston Cottages who manage it? Well they are hands down the best company to go to if you want to stay in Norfolk. We don’t stay with anyone else now.

From the moment we arrived Rooster Barn felt like a home from home with all of the little extras to make our stay perfect. We had a week of walks with our dog, lazy afternoons reading in front of the log burner and eating far to much local food. A perfect escape. Thank you.

We can't remember how many times we've stayed at Rooster Barn. Each time we have a relaxing time as we don't have to worry about silly doggie rules. Just put a throw on the sofa and start your holiday. The barn is well equipped, clean and homely. The wood burner is great and heats up the whole barn. Good walks on your doorstep and beaches in close travelling time. We're booking again for next year.

What an amazing place, perfect from the moment we arrived. This was the first holiday we have taken since adding a dog to our family and I was so impressed. The barn contained everything you could need, it was literally a home from home. The barn was spotless, this was something I was particularly impressed with as I am allergic to most dogs so staying in place that would have previously had four legged residents was a risk. But I needn't have worried, it was so clean that I didn't even get a sniffle.
The weather was hot whilst there so we enjoyed not only the surrounding area but also time relaxing in the garden. There was a minor issue whilst there (a wasp nest in the courtyard) that was rectified within hours of me reporting to Sue.
Very impressed and will be returning.

We had a lovely week. The sun shone all week, and although it was December and cold, it didn’t stop us getting out and about with the dogs. Rooster Barn was so comfortable and homely. We got the fire going every night and it was lovely and toasty. Bed was very comfortable and we slept well, shower was great (it so often isn’t in holiday cottages) and the house was exceptionally well fitted out. We had every thing we needed. We do a lot of cottages holidays over a year and this was one of the best. Of course we are coming back. Who wouldn’t

From the first click the booking process is smooth and simple. Communication from George and Sue is fabulous.... speedy and nothing is too much trouble.
Having 4 rather lively dogs Rooster Barn is ideal, perfect indoor space and a super garden. The barn is stocked with all the essentials and more ..... the welcome pack has to be seen to be believed (Tavern Tasty) The bed downstairs is super comfy!
The location is great for walks on the Quiet Lanes, a short drive to the beach and supermarkets......

Just come back from a fantastic holiday here. The accomodation is lovely for both humans and doggies. Everything provided for was carefully thought through. There were plenty of walks from the door plus beach walks provided. Friendly pub down the road. ERC couldn’t of been anymore helpful throughout the process of booking to leaving. We have stayed in many Norfolk holiday homes but Rooster Barn excelled at everything. Beautiful and well-placed decor, comfortable furniture and beds, wonderful outside space. Regardless of the weather conditions, the Barn caters for all.
A great home-from-home feel, the double-sided wood burner provides a cosy environment on cold and rainy days. Well stocked kitchen with all the utensils one needs, charming themed china and above all, everything is spotlessly clean.
The well-come hamper was the most generous one yet!
Our dogs adored the outside space, which was big enough for extended zoomies at any time.
Close to all the lovely Norfolk coastal spots, Happisburgh and beyond.
We loved our time here and have already booked 3 holidays next year, including Christmas!

What a wonderful place to spend a thoroughly relaxing few days. My wife and I have spent the last few Summers holidaying in and around Norfolk, but even more so since we have been bolstered by two lively Cockapoos.
Our older dog is reactive and can be nervous, but he loved Rooster Barn. The villagers were so friendly, the shop and Pub especially welcoming. The area is beautiful and we had a fantastic time exploring, but also just relaxing.
My wife and I have very intense, demanding jobs and relaxing and switching off can be very difficult, but not here! Within a couple of days we both felt so relaxed it was fantastic.
Visits out included Felbrigg Hall; Blickling; Sheringham Country Park; Happisburgh and Cart Gap beaches; Fairhaven Water Gardens and our old favourite; Bacton Woods.
The dogs had their own break at the weekend, so we collected them on Monday, which allowed us to visit The Swan at Ingham and The Gunton Arms. Fantastic food and ambience at both.
We booked for next year by the middle of our stay. Cannot recommend highly enough. 2 humans and 2 very contented four legs.

We’ve been lucky enough to stay here 3 times now, the Barn and garden are lovely, everything you need for comfort and home from home necessities. Very dog friendly, peaceful and is our absolute place to go to for a complete relaxing recharge holiday, location is great for getting to the broads or beach with fantastic walks nearby.

We didn't have to travel far to Rooster Barn, as we live in Norfolk, but it felt as if we were in a completely different place. The barn is lovely and the garden perfect for greyhound and lurcher zoomies. Being a multi-dog family, it was just great to be in a place where our dogs are actually welcome, not just tolerated. We discovered new walks and different beaches and just generally had a fantastic time. We were pretty lucky with the weather too. Highly recommend Rooster Barn and cannot wait to be back there.

Welcoming.

Downside. We slept on sofas for the week as the mattress was so uncomfortable for us.

Not suitable for reactive dogs as reactive dog next door and village shop was closed so hope owner was okay.
People nearby were lovely.

Thank you Sophia for your review and I am very glad you had a good time. I am sorry you found the mattress uncomfortable. Unusual as we haven't had anyone else complain and there is a super thick topper on it to give it an extra level of comfort. We could have made the upstairs bed for you instead if you had let us know your weren't comfortable. Mattress comfort can be very personal and it obviously suits many of our other guests. I note we are marked down for value for money too. The cost of £531 for a week for a house that sleeps 4 and welcomes unlimited dogs for free plus all bed linen and towels, heating and fire wood supplied as well as a generous welcome pack, works out at £18/person/night for 4.

It was the little things; the welcome pack, the underfloor heating throughout, the wood fire that was brilliantly maintained and wood stocked waiting for you! The most free mirror in the bathroom and a kitchen that had ever utensil you could need for any type of cooking. No expense has been spared in this cottage and the space is expertly used to make a fantastic home away from home for us and our teenage daughter, in a remote village, where everyone is smiling and welcoming. The Crown Inn is under a management transition at the moment so wasn’t serving food but the atmosphere was beyond welcoming, so friendly and the ale and conversation flowing. That was on our first day! Trips during the day to Comer, Holt and even Norwich for some shopping are incredibly easy and the location is as remote or as busy as you want it to be. It was our first trip, we’ve found a diamond and I can guarantee we will return!

Fabulous welcome pack of bacon sausages butter shortbread eggs milk doggy treats and a different kind of scotch egg!!
Comfy beds. Hot shower. Well equipped home from home . Everything you need for dogs . Bowls towels toys snacks poo bags and dog crates in case you forget any of these.
Lovely big garden for dogs to charge about in and nice to see and hear woodpeckers and owl.
Customer service will help as much as possible within the hour and always at the end of a phone if you need something.
Will certainly consider a return although the paddle stairs were difficult for me to get down they are fine for husband.

As we walked through the front we both said we could live here, such a welcoming property, very quiet location, a lot of room for our greyhound who got some speed up running from one end to the other on the lawn, with the sun all day on the patio area and the separate lawn area, this is a must stay at Barn conversion. Open planned and very well designed

We can't speak highly enough of Rooster Barn - and when I say we, I include Cassie, our greyhound who had the most superb space to safely play.

It's the first time we've stayed away from home with our three greyhounds and they loved it!
The only down side was that the owners stipulated that dogs left alone had to be crated. I have no problem with this, but was unaware of it before the holiday and, as ours have never been crated, we were unwilling to do this. This meant that it was a little limiting of where we could go and what we could do.
However, the property was absolutely lovely and had all the facilities we needed. It was clean and welcoming and the dogs loved the garden.
The weather was amazing and we had a wonderfully relaxing week.

This was our first stay with East Ruston Cottages and at Rooster Barn. The communication from East Ruston Cottages was informative and professional all the way through, and this was particularly welcomed when the second lockdown was announced on the Saturday of our arrival. We had an email from East Ruston early on the Sunday morning informing us that they had investigated what that meant for our stay and had discovered that we were allowed to stay until the end of the week, which was very reassuring.
Rooster Barn itself is such a lovely property and is a real home from home. Situated at the end of a private road, the garden overlooking fields, it is the perfect location, in a lovely, friendly village. The property was extremely clean and comfortable and a lot of thought had gone into ensuring we had everything we could possibly need. An impressive welcome pack met us on arrival, which was really appreciated. We also managed to have a week of sunshine, which was an added bonus.
We very much hope to be able to stay at Rooster Barn again in the future.

Had a great stay at Rooster Barn, the most dog friendly holiday home we’ve ever stayed in. They supply throws for sofas, dog towels, bowls, toys, spare collars & leads & treats. Humans aren’t forgotten either we had a lovely welcome pack including bread, butter, jam, cheese, cookies, tea bags, sugar, milk & local produce. Comprehensive folders giving walks, places to visit & places to eat along with maps & books. All cleaning materials are included plus soaps at all sinks. Sue was really helpful with dog walks & pubs before we arrived. Have booked with East Ruston again for next year, can’t wait, we would have booked Rooster Barn again but it was fully booked for the week we wanted.

There were 4 adults and 3 dogs staying, annd very one had a fantastic time.. The barn is gorgeous ad even done so well and plenty of room, even for the dogs. Lovely little hamper on arrival even doggy treats . Everything you could possibly need was in one cupboard or another. Beds were comfortable. As they stress on website be aware of the paddle stairs, I found them easy but my Brother In Law has bad eyesight, and they overwhelmed him, but that was in no way the fault of the barn, and the majority of people would have no problem...
The outside areas are lovely , with 2 seating areas, the big lawn out front for playing ball or jut sniffing around and the little enclosed gravel patio where you can rest and relax after a long walk at beach with a glass of something. The doors all open so in very hot weather you can open them out onto patio.
We wont b e going to the Barn again , but we will most certainly be back with East Ruston ad they are superb. In. Fact we have booked Brians Cottage for next year. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Had a lovely week in Rooster Cottage, a fabulous garden for us and our dog. Lovely welcome treats for human and canine visitors and we visited the butcher they use to bring some goodies home. We used the local shop and the friendly local pub, both a very short walk away. Lots of great beaches nearby and no crowds. So much to do in the area, can’t wait to return.

We've just enjoyed a very comfortable and relaxing week at Rooster Barn.
The barn is comfortable, clean and cosy and has everything you could possibly need. There was a good supply of essentials such as coffee, sugar, washing powder, logs and cleaning things, and additional logs were very reasonably priced. The garden was perfect in size and security for our three dogs. Customer service was excellent and very individual. I can't really think of anything that would have improved our stay. Thank you.

Our second time staying at Rooster Barn so that says a lot. It’s a beautiful barn conversion that has been very well thought out and is soo comfortable both in terms of humans and dogs. The garden is huge, safe and totally secure as well. Everywhere was spotless when we arrived and a fab welcome pack awaited us too. Can’t think of a single criticism! We love staying there. We’ve stayed at a number of East Ruston Cottages now and totally trust that we will have an amazing holiday whenever and wherever we stay. The cottages don’t just allow dogs to come on holiday with you but actually welcome dogs with open arms. To actually cater for the canine members of the family by providing throws, towels, poo bags, food and water bowls etc makes life so much easier for the human guests and it’s all these little well thought out touches that makes East Ruston Cottages stand head and shoulders above the competition.

As soon as we opened the door the barn was warm, welcoming and beautifully designed. A delight and for a couple with teenagers or a dog or two perfect. It is not a negative at all but just to note if you have a toddler and more than two dogs maybe there are other options to consider. The top bedroom, which is lovely, has to be accessed from a steep ladder. My mum in her 70’s couldn’t manage this so I and my four year old son stayed up there. This did mean watching his every move negotiating the stairs hence why I say teenagers. They would love it! We were also unlucky with the weather and it rained most of the week sadly. As there are no immediate walk on the doorstep this meant driving to all destinations. There is a brilliant walk down by the garage which takes you over fields and woods however but no quick half hour place to just let them off the leads and run about which would have come in handy.
I reiterate these are not negatives. So many wonderful places to visit near by we just didn’t have the weather for it. What kept us going though was that beautiful fire and an amazing rare breed butcher up the road. Thanks Sue for the scotch egg and sausages in our welcome hamper. They were our introduction!
Lovely company to book with, exceptionally helpful and indeed for the right family highly recommended.

We took our 9 ,mainly rescue dogs on holiday to Trunch Rooster barn. We have had a great time the beaches are quite .Bacton woods is ideal, we managed to all go at once because of quite places we visited .The barn itself is so comfortable,with a large garden we did a lot of relaxing as well ,it was just what we needed.Plenty of places to eat and visit.

My wife and I had a really good holiday in Norfolk staying for the first the at Rooster Barn. It was so relaxing and peaceful to return to Roosters after exploring the many areas of interest in the area. Roosters is a lovely place to stay and we have booked for next year. Another lovely holiday at Rooster Barn. Not only was the Easter weather excellent - lucky us - but a great welcome pack as always with the addition of an Easter Egg and Hot Cross buns which went down a treat.

Rooster Barn is an exceptional holiday barn - log burner to keep us warm on cold evenings, a lovely garden for our two Labradors to run and play in - lovely village shop where you can shop and get everything you need on a daily basis. What more could you want. Not much!!

I have put great for dogs which it is - but have to mention that next door have a reactive dog so advised before we went not to leave our dogs unattended in the back garden which is adjacent to the neighbors property. Ours too are a bit reactive so if a dog barks they will bark back but It did not spoil our stay at all but need to mention it. In summer when you want to sit out on the patio adjacent to the neighbors may be an issue if like us you have two soppy Labradors who will bark back at anything they do not see.

East Ruston cottages provide really dog friendly accommodation. There are throws for the sofas so your dogs can cuddle up with you. It makes for a much more relaxed holiday when you don't have to worry about your dog jumping on furniture. Customer service is excellent. Rooster barn is very clean and comfortable and the enclosed garden is a real bonus.

Rooster Barn is a beautiful barn conversion in the small village of Trunch.
The barn is set back from the road and has it's own parking area with grounds all around which are totally secure for dogs. The barn has absolutely everything you could need and is either dog or rooster themed! Everything is provided including tags for the dogs, throws for the furniture, bowls, and lots of information. The bedrooms are very comfortable. The Crown pub is a short walk away and they were very dog friendly.
Many thanks to Danielle for leaving the barn spotless for our arrival and for the welcome food and drink, especially the carrot cake and bottle of wine! Thanks to Sue also for answering all our questions and giving us such personal service. All communications were very friendly, professional and efficient.
I summary, I would have no hesitation at recommending East Ruston Cottages and Rooster Barn for a lovely holiday for you and your dogs. We have never stayed anywhere so dog friendly while still maintaining an incredibly high standard of accommodation. Thank you! We will be back.

Rooster Barn has been very well converted into a comfortable and appealing holiday home. We loved it completely and our dogs loved the large and totally enclosed garden. Mostly on one level but with a second bedroom up in the eaves. The kitchen is well appointed and has plenty of crockery and cooking pans etc. The lounge and dining area are both well thought out and comfortable. The downstairs bedroom is lovely and cosy and plenty of storage is provided. There is an en-suite with a shower over the bath and there’s also a ground floor shower room - both modern and well equipped. The whole Barn has been thought out well and beautifully appointed throughout. We were lucky with the weather - who would’ve expected sunshine and warm weather in February!! Bit of a bonus is the fact that the village pub - just a very short walk away- has been recently taken over by a fabulous young couple who have revamped the place and now serve food. And they welcome dogs!

Rooster Barn provided me and my three labrador companions with absolutely perfect facilities for a fabulous February break. Everything was in excellent condition and the whole barn scrupulously clean. The addition of spare dog throws and towels is a really thoughtful touch and very much appreciated. Our second time in Rooster Barn, and our first New Year, we were a little nervous about bringing a 5 month puppy. However, the facilities of the Barn were second to none for both humans and puppy, who settled in very well. We spent the week walking around Trunch and to neighbouring villages, going to the beach and enjoying the log fire, as well as festive food and drink. The Barn was a perfect space for a puppy’s first time away from home because of the space available, and the layout - both house and garden were manageable for keeping an eye, without having to lock him in a cage when we were in.
The attention to detail was wonderful and we loved the Christmas decorations, which were multitudinous.
It really is the perfect place to get away with dogs for those who love the rolling countryside, curving beaches and unique architecture of Norfolk.

Rooster Barn is a beautiful barn conversion in a quiet location at the end of a drive.
Every effort is made to make your stay as comfortable as possible together with the lovely double sided wood burner.
The garden is ideal for holidaymakers with four legged friends and many items are available for their use, i.e. dog bowls, towels, leads, toys etc as well as a lovely area for them to run and play in. We are lucky to have found it.

It was the first time I had visited Rooster Barn and it definitely won't be the last. It really was a perfect home from home with everything for a very relaxed holiday. The dogs and I walked on a different beach everyday before returning to the comfort of Rooster Barn and the lovely log burner. Everywhere local is dog friendly which made everything very easy especially when you are on your own. The Barn had everything I could possibly need and the garden was excellent for the dogs. The location is very convenient to ensure you can be fully occupied without any major drives and the selection of dog friendly beaches are spectacular.

We had a lovely week at Rooster Barn. The welcome packs for us and the dogs were excellent. The barn provided everything you could wish for and more. The dogs loved the freedom the garden provided and it is ideally situated for all the surrounding attractions.

Rooster Barn is a great place to stay with your doggies. Sue and her team have thought of everything and provide so much local information it’s unreal.

Rooster Barn is a great place to stay, truly dog friendly in a wonderfully quiet location. This property has bags of character and a superb secure garden. The welcome pack is particularly generous, for both adults and dogs. The village of Trunch is ideally placed to visit the many dog friendly beaches, pubs and attractions in the area.

This was our first visit here, loved it so much we have already booked our return! Lovely well equipped accommodation, more like a home from home! The dogs loved the large fully enclosed garden and all the little extras left for them! As did we!! Would definitely recommend!

The barn was very comfortable and quiet. There was lots of hot water. Also there is much very useful information which added greatly to our enjoyment of the area.
