The location is great. Short walk over the dunes onto the beach. Lovely comfort in the house. Lots of throws so the dogs can sit cuddling after long beach walks.
Plenty of sofas for adults and dogs.
Great log burner which we brought wood for and kept the living room really warm.
Good entrance lobby with a fridge freezer to keep dog food in. Loved the fenced gardens to let dogs go toilets safely especially at night.
Would love to return but see the prices have gone up dramatically for 2025.

How we loved our stay! 5 Dachshunds plus 2 visiting with a friend and both adult children came for a day! 5 minutes to a wonderful beach- this naturally sheltered sunny spot allowed us to sit outside and enjoy the late summer sun .The open plan nature of Sand Drift provides a sociable space to eat and relax with friends with everything you need for a relaxing break.

Lovely comfortable holiday home. Very dog friendly, and right next to the beach. Almost everything you could need provided, dog towels, throws, bowls, toys, cleaning products etc etc. the welcome pack was full of lovely things. The sky is amazing at night as there is no light pollution, and you can sit on the porch and watch the sun go down. It is on an unmade road but that adds to its charm as there is very little traffic passing.

I had been following ERC on social media for some time before booking our stay at Sand Drift and even though we'd never been on holiday to Norfolk before I knew from Sue's blogs that it was going to be the perfect place for us to come with our active dog who sometimes needs a bit of space! Sand Drift felt like home and had everything that we needed including an amazing welcome pack and an EV charger. The communication from ERC and the owners was great and we had a wonderful sunny week enjoying sunrise and sunset runs, lots of swimming and cooling off in the sea, lovely beach walks and some much needed relaxing in the house and gardens. We can't wait to come back again and if its not as warm next time, we'll just get to explore further and do all the long walks I'd planned too!

It is not often that I return to establishments where I have sojourned unless they are of outstanding quality.
My short visit last year prompted me to book a week long stay at Sand Drift, one of the many self-catering properties available via East Ruston Cottages.

Eccles on Sea, Norfolk may not sound the most glamourous of locations but that is exactly its attraction to those, such as myself, who are looking for a quiet destination to enjoy with their four-legged companion(s).

Positioned down an unmade, but car passable, track this delightful accommodation is as close as it is possible to get to the sandy beach without actually camping on the shore!

Equipped with all mod cons there is absolutely nothing that any holidaymaker needs to bring bar themselves!

Fans for when it is hot, good wall heaters, including a heated towel rail in the bathroom, plus a wood burner when a cold spell beckons it would be impossible not to feel comfortable here.

Every conceivable amenity is here designed to make both human and canines feel at home including a handily placed paw/shoe/foot bath outside, beach paraphernalia, dog toys and beds not to mention the fantastic welcome packs for both man and beast.

The back garden is secure even for a hypervigilant, athletic large dog with no passing traffic/pedestrians and the front garden safe enough for the less athletic, reactive, smaller canines.

A busy day on the beach was when we came across 7 people and their dogs, but it felt like we were on a desert island somewhere!

If you want ice cream shops, gaming arcades etc this is not the place for y ou, although you do not have to drive far to access these plus great places to eat.

But if you want to enjoy peace, quiet, dark skies and an old-fashioned getaway this is it!

The house is absolutely immaculate and has everything you could possibly need and more. The owners have thought of everything and even provide food in the freezer and cupboard so you don’t need to worry about getting shopping on your first day. The welcome pack was amazing too and the owners went above and beyond to buy me things for my intolerances even though I told them not to worry. I received regular emails from the owner too to let me know when the house was ready for us on the day of arrival. I felt so at home and comfortable as did my dogs. I can’t wait to stay again soon.

Loved Sand Drift. The main part of the cottage was well thought out, open plan but conveniently split .kitchen, dining area and lounge. The dogs loved the toy box and my old 10 year old was the first to locate it and start emptying it, the other two soon joined in the Fun. The human and dog treats were very much appreciated. All three bedrooms are very spacious and tastefully decorated.
With both the front and back gardens secure it gave us peace of mind that the dogs were in a secure environment and of course the short walk to the beach is an added bonus.

Sand Drift was everything we needed for a relaxing seaside holiday and more. Lucy, mad spaniel, was thoroughly spoilt. Two secure gardens to run around in, a full toy box with numerous squeaky tennis balls, home made dog biscuits and a selection of dog treats and foods just in case we had forgotten something. And best of all an endless dog friendly beach just the other side of the back garden for some lovely long walks. By the end of the day she was curled up happily on one of the sofas dreaming about her exciting day.

We humans were also spoilt, comfy beds, colourful furnishings and a fantastic welcome pack including home made marmalade and free range eggs. The kitchen was filled with equipment enough to make any master chef happy. A selection of frozen ready meals were in the freezer just in case we needed them and a large selection of toiletries were supplied in the bathroom. Electric radiators are all around the property and the option of lighting the log burner was most welcome on one cold night to watch the smart tv or huge range of dvd’s.

Needless to say we will be back as soon as possible.

We really enjoyed our stay at Sand Drift cottage. We just wanted a peaceful place for r&r for us, plus some great walks for the dogs, and this ticked all the boxes. Right next to the beach, with two enclosed gardens (front and back) for the dogs to romp around in between walks. We appreciated the peace and quiet, and the house was very clean, nicely decorated, and had everything we needed. I would definitely be happy to stay here again in future.

We arrived really late on Friday night, as we had driven from West Wales and the traffic had been awful! When we arrived we found a lovely welcome basket of fruit, chocolate and biscuits for us and the dogs! There was also milk and butter in the fridge and a delicious loaf. The sofa were comfortable, the kitchen had everything we could need, including an Air Fryer that my husband is obsessed with at the moment :-D The beds were really comfy, with a lovely view over the back garden from two of them. There is log burner in the living room, which was very welcome on a couple of chilly nights.
The front and rear gardens are lovely, with 6ft fences at the rear, but lower ones at the front so if you have a dog that likes jumping a little care might be needed. Plenty of room for parking. It's just a short walk to Eccles beach, so quiet and our two greyhounds absolutely loved it. Smallsticks Cafe is also just a short walk away, and the food there is really good. This is a great area to stay with easy access to so many lovely places to visit.

What a lovely place, tucked away on such a quiet estate with the sound of the sea ever present jut behind the dunes.
The cottage is well laid out to utilise the space well, loads of equipment in the kitchen and again a good use of available space.
My dogs loved it and had the weather been more suitable for sitting outside the swing seat on the porch would have been super for them to lounge while I had coffee.
ERC from first booking and ongoing care throughout the stay are first class and this is reflected in the care the cottage owners take in trying to make properties a place to relax with furry friends.
Hopefully we will be back in the future
Thank you

Great place to stay if you love the beach (we do !!!) as the back garden backs onto it and several access points very close to the cottage, including a couple without steps, helpful for elderly/ disabled dogs.
Sandrift is very cosy and comfortable, with very dog secure gardens. front and back, with lovely sun deck at the front, for a glass or two to watch the sunsets.

This is a lovely dog friendly cottage right near to a dog friendly beach and a small cafe only 10 mins walk away. There are safe peaceful gardens at the back for the more excitable/reactive dogs and a gorgeous lawned garden to the front with lovely seating where you can sit and enjoy the peace. There are goodies to hand for you and your dogs, it is truly a perfect holiday where you and your dogs can feel at home.

Amazing location for a doggy holiday with everything you need at hand. The secure gardens and clean comfortable cottage made this such a relaxing holiday, especially as one of our rescue dogs is reactive. When thinking of advertising dog friendly breaks it is not as simple as stating that dogs are permitted into the accommodation. It is vital that owners/agents fully understand the wants and needs of the disparate dog owning holidaymaker. We all own different breeds, sizes, temperaments with individual quirks and exercise needs. We are also looking for holiday not just for ourselves but for our dogs who may be eg Working, Assistance or Pets. This destination would suit all but the most determined, athletic escapee and their owner. The back garden was secure enough for my hypervigilant, territorial Malinois as well as stocked with all human comfort and included a very handy outside tap/area for washing off sandy toes/paws, shoes, toys etc. The front garden is, in my opinion, suitable only for smaller dogs or those which are not sight reactive or jumpers due to the lower height fencing, sometimes as low as 43". However this did not impact on our enjoyment. It was very useful that I could reverse park into the gravel area so that the dog could hop straight into the garden without the need for a lead. The interior was extremely well furnished and provided with throws for dogs which are sofa surfers! Bookshelves groaned under the weight of reading material and there were plenty of DVDs (mostly for children) as well as games, puzzles etc. The shower had quality pressure and I imagine that in the winter the electric towel rail would keep the room very cosy. Dogs are not allowed in the bedrooms but that suited us fine as my dog curled up in her travelling fabric crate but two medium sized beds were in the living room. The goodies left for both human and canine were of top quality and a lovely surprise as was the "starter kit" for first day arrivals bread, butter etc. The only possible improvements would be non slip grips for the rugs and better bedside lamps. The garden shed had windbreaks, beach chairs, buckets and spades, as well as balls and throwers for our canine companions. I wanted a property on the beach and I got it, however be prepared for a steep climb/descent to it just 6 properties down, otherwise you will need to walk to Cart Gap to access from the flat. However I am 68 and managed it fine. Armed with the tide times helpfully supplied by ERC we had glorious walks along the vast, very quiet beaches as well as paddles/swims. If you want to stay somewhere quiet, peaceful, and right on the beach this is definitely IT!
