This is our second stay at The Grove and we’ve already booked for next year and 2026.
A beautifully clean property with a large well kept, secure garden. Quiet walks from the door and a short drive to the coast but I actually walked the distance on two occasions.
There’s everything we needed at the property along with plenty of supplies of doggy toys, leads, all manner of essentials incase you forget anything.
EV charging in the immediate area is poor for rapid charging but we used a local one which is a 50kw charger but there’s only one, listed in the information from East Rushton Cottages once booking is complete. The next nearest is at Aylsham and there are four 150kw chargers but it’s a fifteen mile round trip from The Grove.
We highly recommend the property, lovely hosts who are on hand but leave you to your seclusion and East Rushton cottages are a really helpful and responsive letting agent. Simply can’t fault.

It’s taken 2 and a half years for our lovely rescue lurcher Jeff to be medically stable enough for us to go on holiday with him. So it was also several years since our last holiday! The property was wonderful as was the location - Jeff can’t cope / becomes reactive to off lead dogs. Such a rural setting but only a couple of miles from the coast. The owners were so helpful and patient with a number of questions I had in the week before our booking - my anxiety levels were a little high! The owners have provided everything you could possibly need, both for humans and, more importantly of course! for dogs. Their recommendations for places to eat which are very dog friendly and have great food were spot on. My only selfish“ regret” is that so many other people have already discovered this “ paradise” - so we’ve already booked our next stay but it’s not until November 2025. There is some availability before then but not dates that we can do. We’ll be keeping an eye on the cancellation emails which East Ruston Cottages send out - just in case!

We have stayed in many 'dog friendly' cottages before. This one was head and shoulders above the rest. We had requested a crate which was fully set up with bedding for our arrival. This was very much appreciated as our dog likes to find a quiet place to settle in a new environment so it was brilliant to have this waiting.
Everything about the cottage made us and our dog feel welcome. Everything you could possibly need and more was made available, from spare leads, collars and dog bowls to plenty of dog towels.
The welcome pack was a lovely touch and was enjoyed by us all, especially the dog biscuits!
The secure garden was great for our dog. As she can be quite anxious, having the freedom to explore the garden without needing a lead was just perfect for her.
This is the first time we have ever stayed somewhere that ticks all the boxes for us and our anxious dog. The only reason we haven't immediately booked to come back is the journey time is just a little too long for our dog. However we are considering it as the property was just perfect.

Tha Grove was very good for dogs and has the best equipped kitchen of any property we have stayed in. It was very clean throughout, which is very welcome especially for the kitchen and bathroom.

We’ve just enjoyed a week at the Grove, peaceful and very quiet. The hosts went the extra mile to accommodate us regarding one of my dogs recovering from surgery by providing crates. The quiet country lane leading two public footpaths at the end with very little traffic was perfect for us. We have booked again and will continue to do so as the garden is beautiful and big enough for our dogs to play plus very secure. The bungalow has everything we needed and more. Highly recommend. NOTE : if you have an EV there is only one fast charger in the area about ten to fifteen mins away on an industrial estate. No complaints at all.

We spent a lovely week at the Grove with our 2 dogs, our 2nd visit. Bungalow was very well equipped, couldn't think of anything else that could have been added. Beautiful large garden which the dogs enjoyed when the weather permitted. Just a few minutes drive from Bacton Woods, our favourite place to walk the dogs, and very close to Bacton beach. Very generous welcome pack for us and the dogs. Will definitely book again next year.

This Grove is the perfect holiday hideaway. To be honest, I did not want to give a review because I wanted to keep this place a secret but I can’t keep secrets! The best bits include the big secure back garden with lots of seating and the dogs appreciated the shade of the trees as it was really hot and sunny for our stay. You can leave the back door open and dogs can enjoy the house and garden so you don’t have leave your seat to let them in/out. We enjoyed relaxing walks from the door on the Quiet Lanes and watching the sunset and birds from the seat in the front garden. The Grove had everything we wanted for a relaxing break. It was a chocolate box style arrival….As soon as we opened the door we saw an immaculate hallway and the immaculate theme was everywhere and in all rooms. It really is perfect as it’s a few mins drive along the lane to Bacton Woods and easy 10 mins drive to the beach, shops… all from the quiet hamlet of Edingthorpe. Top marks to the owners of this property- they know how to provide for dogs and humans on holiday. We not want to leave and we are 100% re-booking.

The Grove is a comfortable homely cottage, well equipped for dogs and humans. Lovely and clean and fresh on arrival. Country walks from the door and a short drive to the beach. Shops, pubs, cafes all in easy reach. If you want peace and quiet with everything else on your doorstep it is perfect!

Our first visit to The Grove. We had a wonderful relaxing stay, a real home from home, so quiet and peaceful, with a large garden - excellent for the dogs. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t very kind to us but we still had walks in the woods and to the beach (which was almost deserted) every day.

The bungalow is equipped with everything you could possibly want, lots of games, puzzles and books to keep you occupied, plus a very generous welcome pack and a present for our dog’s birthday. We had a lovely chat with Peter (after arriving a little bit early) and he was really welcoming.

There are lots of walks down quiet lanes and only a short drive to North Walsham and to all the beaches and very dog welcoming.

This was our first visit to The Grove.
The bungalow is equipped with everything you could possibly need for people and dogs. It is very comfortable with amazing views over open countryside at the front.
The dogs loved the large garden and the nearby walks.
We all really enjoyed our stay and would definitely have another holiday at The Grove.

The location is idyllic, very quiet with walks from the front door.
The cottage was well laid out, very clean and tidy with everything you would need. The garden is a great size and fully enclosed, perfect for sighthound 'zoomies'.
A great area to holiday in with plenty to do, places to visit and dog friendly cafes, pubs & restaurants in the area.

Really enjoyed our stay. The place was clean and the facilities were good, although I was unable to log onto Netflix, but it didn’t bother us. The large enclosed garden was a bonus our cocker spaniel, Milo really liked it, there was no chance of him escaping. The PDF guide book, very useful. Liked the morning walk to the Saxon Church, before going out and exploring the area. And it is a good circular walk to Bacton. The welcome pack was excellent. Would book again if wanting to stay in the area.

The Grove is tucked away down a designated "Quiet Lane" in sleepy East Norfolk. The bungalow itself was lovely and clean, comfortable, well appointed and had a gorgeous, fully enclosed back garden.
The dogs were made just as welcome as the humans, which for us is most important. There were throws on the sofas, dog bowls, dog toys and even lovely hand made dog treats in the welcome pack.
The area is very quiet and there were lovely walks right from the front door. The beaches nearby are all dog friendly, clean and sandy too, so The Grove is in a perfect area for Doggy Holidays.
I'd not hesitate to recommend The Grove to anyone wanting a perfectly peaceful holiday with their four legged family members.

Lovely bungalow with a very big garden. Well thought out for humans and dogs. Comfortable bed and well equipped kitchen. Our dogs enjoyed the toy box and loved playing with the different toys. The attention to detail in the bungalow is truly wonderful. A new sofa since last year ( the old one was very squishy) , an excellent tower fan is now provided and night lights too. The kitchen is as well equipped as home and I love it. The bungalow is on such a lovely quiet lane with great walks from the bungalow. We had lunch at The Lighthouse Inn twice and would highly recommend it. The only downside this year was the intense unseasonal hot weather (30 degrees plus for three days at the beginning of our stay) which stopped us going out. The garden is great to sit out and for our greyhound to wander around with plenty of shady areas.

The two best things about our recent holiday are The Grove and ERC. The Grove is tucked away down a tiny lane which has five or six houses in it and is a dead end. At the end of the lane there is a small track which leads you up a hill to a beautiful part Saxon and part Norman church. There is also a footpath heading towards Bacton. The Grove was spotless, well-equipped and very comfortable. The garden is lovely, and it has high fences, so dogs can roam around safely. ERC are the bee’s knees, They are efficient, and friendly, Customer support is excellent, Sue Allen, the owner of ERC, sets the pace, and her team are terrific, Sue really understands how to please her customers. As a result, many of them, (including my wife and me), have returned to Norfolk lots of times, for enjoyable stays at cottages managed by ERC.

The Grove is a home from home for us. We’ve stayed before and rebooked because we knew what we were getting, lovely size hike for the week, massive garden for the pups to play in, gorgeous kitchen to cook in, lovely quiet walks from the front door for our fearful little dog, and just a 5-6 minute drive to Walcott or Bacton beach.
Was nice to see the new comfy sofa in the lounge and the lavender colour them throughout the accessories, towels etc was a nice touch.
Just a really cosy place to be, and the dogs settled straight away on both our visits.. we’re booked up in some other ERC properties next year but would love to squeeze a week in at The Grove, hopefully with our 4th pup in tow!

The Grove was in an excellent location, on a quiet lane with views over fields, but also close to woods and the beach.

It was lovely and clean and had everything you needed. The garden was generous in size and also very secure.

I would definitely recommend the cottage and look forward to my return visit later on this year.

Beautiful bungalow, impeccably clean and excellently equipped with a wonderful dog safe garden. The owners could not have been more helpful (they definitely deserved 1/5!). This, like the other ERC cottages we've stayed in, was a real home from home. Lots of quiet walks direct from the cottage through lovely countryside and quick easy access to beaches and woods.

Love the bungalow and its location. Welcome pack was great, all you would need to get the week started! We have been coming to ERC for 6/7 years now and we located some walks for the dogs that we hadn’t found before and they were more than delighted! The bungalow was very well equipped and we all loved the garden, which our escapologist terrier couldn’t find a way out of, he tried very hard!!! A thoroughly wonderful week (as usual) and we will be back to the area again.

Excellent accommodation. Perfect rural location so quiet and peaceful but only a ten minute drive to either Walcott or Bacton Beach. Ideal for Bacton woods also for walkies. This bungalow is immaculate. Fantastic bathroom which felt like a spa and great well equipped kitchen. Spacious garden as well if your dogs have any zombies left after their beach walks. I would highly recommend this property and to be honest it’s one of East Ruston Cottages best.

With 2 of our 3 dogs terrified of fireworks we wanted somewhere to escape the worst of firework season, and The Grove was perfect. We all loved the peace and quiet, the walks from the door, Bacton Wood and and of course the beaches. The large garden was a big plus too, the dogs loved it. The only sound disturbing nighttime visits was of tawny owls calling.
Dogs and humans all found the bungalow to be very comfortable and exceptionally well equipped - using the kitchen was a pleasure. The welcome pack was very generous, with plenty of tasty treats plus flowers. Thanks Pete and Ali for making The Grove such a welcoming place!

The Grove is a lovely bungalow with a superb large secure garden for the dogs, with Fantastic views across the fields, a very well equipped kitchen and provisions for the dogs.
We had a splendid week, the first holiday with my sister’s baby girl, weather was fantastic, but sadly my last visit to Norfolk as moving to France.

The Grove is a in a beautiful quiet location within a short drive of Walcott and Mundesley beaches.
Many country walks in surrounding areas.
Beautiful bungalow equipped with everything you need for your holiday.
Fabulous welcome hamper. Massive lush garden and a hooting owl included in the vicinity who we heard every night but never seen . We will deffo be back 1 day. Thank you. ❤️

The Grove is a delightful bungalow located on a quiet lane,with easy access to the market town of North Walsham. There are walks straight from the front door, and a large garden completely dog proof with areas to sit and relax. The property is very well equipped, is spotlessly clean and is an ideal home from home base to explore the delights of Norfolk.
The thoughtful welcome pack provided by the owners was a real treat, human goodies and the dogs had their own treats too.

We had a wonderful week at The Grove. Beautifully equipped bungalow in a lovely quiet spot with lovely walks. The garden was perfect for our greyhound to wander around safely . The only negative was the sofa in the living room - it was so soft and squishy we couldn’t get up easily .
We loved it so much we have already booked for next September .

First time taking our 3 dogs away (1 being an anxious and reactive pup) we were a little nervous, but our worries were put to ease right from booking through fantastic communication from the owners and Sue at ERC. The Grove is kitted out with everything you could possibly need, as well as special little touches such as welcome nibbles, drinks and doggie biscuits. Large, secure garden to allow for off the lead zoomies and quiet country walks right on the doorstep. Within very short driving distance of lots of local dog friendly beaches and coastal walks. Looking forward to our next visit already!

With 1 reactive pup (3 in total) it is extremely difficult to find good accommodation in a great area but The Grove is testament that it exists…
Apart from the odd horse strutting along and the 4 or 5 local house owners going to work, the lane upon which the house sits is quiet and peaceful. It is on a dead end so there is no passing traffic.
The walks start right at the front door, hang a left at the end of the dead end lane and you can walk up to the pretty church, hang a right and you walk up the hill, past the horse paddock into a small woodland.
Walcott beach is 5-6 minutes drive from the house. The dog friendly part of the beach starts just 1 groin to the right of the main ramp to the beach so only a short walk (although can feel like being pulled by a pack of huskies) ☺️ to where the dogs can be let free! And boy is there lots of room during low tides.
The beach is a mix of sand and pebble but very comfortable to walk on and the dogs absolutely love it. An hour a day and they were out for the rest of the day!
The accommodation is done out nice. 2 double bedrooms, a cute little dining room and what looks like a fairly new kitchen and bathroom. The rain shower is a great start to the day!
The views from the lounge window are just mesmerising especially watching the sun set over the fields in front.
The garden is huge, the dogs have so much space and mine really took to running in and out of the huge willow tree that is bent over and creates a willow waterfall effect, it also provides a large shaded area which is a god-send given the rest of the garden in a sun trap! We often put the blanket on the grass to lay around or played with the dogs..

The Grove is not one to be overlooked, it is a very comfortable base with superb views and location gets a 10/10. So peaceful and lots of wildlife around to see (if you’re up early enough)!
The booking process and information before our stay was excellent, Sue and team were extremely helpful and with their private Facebook chat room for visitors we were able to ask questions at any time and share pictures of our holiday.
They even recommend a fabulous dog sitter, which we could advantage off for a day, Shannon’s dog sitting service came over and within just minutes, my reactive dog was calm and sitting on her feet waiting for a fuss. Oodles of confidence around unsure dogs and a great play mate (they tiredness when we returned was testament to that)..

All in all, this is a superbly relaxing holiday with our dogs and my elderly mother in law.
We are booked up in a different property for next year and have no doubt it will be just aa fabulous!

Just returned from a lovely week at The grove. The bungalow was lovely with a large garden for our 3 dogs to explore. The bungalow was very well equipped, everything had been thought of. Lots of really quiet walks straight from the door step.

We arrived at The Grove at the appointed time and were pleasantly surprised. A very generous welcomed us including our German Shepherd dog. The cottage was clean and well appointed. The owners had left detailed instructions for all the appliances and advice on where to eat. We visited some of the recommended local pubs and enjoyed nice meals and a friendly welcome. The cottage was in a quiet village and the views of the local countryside were really good. Our dog enjoyed playing in the large garden and there were lots of pleasant local walks which did not necessitate driving. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the Grove.

We were very nervous about our first break away with our 17 month Airedale.
But we all had a super time in the accommodation that was home from home.
The location was perfect and we had some beautiful walks in the local woods and surrounding area. We are looking forward to planning our next visit to The Grove in the coming months.

The welcome pack and finer touches were really lovely and greatly appreciated, and the provision for dogs was really good in all respects. The standard of the cottage and garden was excellent, and being situated on a no-through lane meant peace and quiet. Lovely walks right on the doorstep, and only a couple of miles from the sea at Bacton was really excellent. Fish and chips, also an excellent cafe (Watsons) in Bacton couldn't be better. Our only problem was the soft and very soggy beds and the very low and soggy sofas and armchair. These provided no support for the back, and required a struggle to get up again (but our greyhound Rocky found the sofa was great). For us, the only comfortable seating was in the dining room. Firmer mattresses and lounge furniture would have made the the whole experience really great.

The Grove is a delightful bungalow in a very pretty hamlet, yet within a few miles of major supermarkets, restaurants and of course the wonderful beaches of Norfolk. The owners have given careful thought to everything that was needed for a relaxing holiday. On arrival the property was well suited to our elderly whippet by having slip mats over the wooden flooring. It was spotless, cosy and my goodness what a lovely welcome pack. The spacious garden was gorgeous, and we were able, due to the weather, to eat ‘al fresco’. We met some lovely people in the hamlet during our stay, friendly and welcoming. A truly relaxing holiday.

We loved this bungalow because it felt welcoming when we walked in. It was clean, beautifully presented and great for the dogs. It took us a little while to find the grove…mainly as I hadn’t read the direction details in the new digital welcome pack. We found it fine once i had. And what a lovely place it is. Super dog friendly anti slop mats through out. Throws for them - dog beds id asked to be available- dogs loved them. Underfloor heating/log burner/heating was needed on the last few days of our trip as was a little cold but it certainly heated up the bungalow quickly when used. It certainly is down a quiet lane. Saw only a handful of people go past. The bungalow had everything we needed. The welcome pack was lovely, for us and the dogs. Yhe garden was huge and the dogs loved it. If we had had warmer weather we would have sat outside for dinner etc but was a little nippy for that. Extremely close to bacton woods and near several beaches. We had an amazing week that went too quickly. And it was my cousin’s first time visiting Norfolk and she loved it. We visited almost every cafe - and had a takeaway and even had fish and chips several times - oops! Lovely place. It did take us a few minutes to fond the hidden cutlery draw, as it didn’t say in then digital welcome pack it was hidden but we found it. And was mentioned in the book in the cottage. Shall be back to stay again a lovely addition to the erc list of accommodation!

We has a fabulous time at The Grove. The house was excellently presented both in an out and the owners really made it easy for us to stay there with a beautiful welcoming package - eggs, milk, bread and a fabulous fruit bowl and plenty of dish washer tablets, towels, cloths and so on. These small details just make things so much easier after a long and tiring journey.

There was a crate and plenty of dog towels and throws, dog bowls and so on too. We knew about all this beforehand which made it easier to decide what to bring and what could remain at home.

Communication from the owners and East Ruston Cottages was excellent, really thorough and everything ran really smoothly. Sue even dog sat for us for the day, absolutely brilliant and so kind of her!

All the information left in the house about local pubs and cafes was great to have at hand as we planned our visit from day to day.

The Grove is situated in a really quiet and peaceful hamlet, a really relaxing place to stay with a super incredibly dog friendly garden.

The property included more items and goods than we could’ve ever hoped for, such as milk in the fridge, every kitchen utensil you can think of, doggy poo bags, torches.

The beautiful garden was amazing for our little Jack Russell, who found a couple of sticks on arrival and was in heaven. A generously sized dog crate was provided as requested along with pillow/mattress.

Nothing’s within walking distance so a car is definitely needed. The property included a comprehensive folder containing recommended local pubs and restaurants which we ended up going to.

Thank you so much, we all had a great time in this cottage.

Five paw rating totally dog friendly, it has a great secure garden with lots of seating area’s. The view from the lounge is fantastic it’s just a view of open fields which has wonderful sunsets. The bungalow itself is on a quiet lane with very little traffic perfect for walking dogs off lead. Inside the bungalow is finished off to such a high standard & as much as we tried we couldn’t find anything wrong with the place. The owners have put so much love into this lovely holiday home it gives you a hug as soon as you walk in. We will definitely return & would definitely recommend.
