Another wonderful stay at the Lodge, just don’t tell anyone how fantabulous it is!
ERC are amazing, every property is firstly dog friendly & humans are secondary.. the Lodge is clean, cosy & has almost everything you would need.. Oir dogs love their holibobs at the Lodge..

what can i say. We stayed only three nights but the accommodation was as stated.
We were able to relax with the dogs, as the garden was well fenced and that meanta lot to us, as we knew our dogs was safe.
It was excellent for the humans to.

The Lodge is a cosy, dog friendly place to stay with lovely walks on the doorstep and lots of thoughtful touches like an outside warm/cold shower for dirty paws, dog towels, beds and bowls. We had a wonderful few days there and I can think of nothing that could be improved.

This was our second visit to the Lodge. We absolutely love it. The dogs walked in like they’ve been there all the time they’re so settled and contented welcome pack for dog and humans. We feel so at home in the lodge is a lovely weekend and we were blessed with the weather, several miles each day we are going to be returning but we’re going to go to a different cottage as much as we love the lodge. A change will be nice too kept a very high standard and Office East Ruston cottages are so friendly and helpful.

This is a very well equipped lodge & very dog friendly. (Even the toilet paper had doggy imprints ). We were provided with dog bowls, dog beds, dog towels & doggy treats as well as a lovely welcome pack for us humans. The garden is a good size & secure. The lodge is set located within a very rural area & has some lovely walks. Plenty of good beaches to choose from with a short drive. We did have a couple of issues with the kitchen tap & internet but the owner was very responsive to try & resolve. Highly recommended

This was the second time we have visited The Lodge. The garden is really secure and private for our dog, who loved running around in the big space. The cottage is very well-equipped and the bed is extremely comfortable. We had a slight issue with the wifi that the owner dealt with really promptly, which was very much appreciated. The location is very peaceful but a short distance to wonderful beaches; Cart Gap is our favourite as you can walk from there for miles along the coast. The cottage is spotlessly clean unlike some other 'dog friendly' accommodation we have used in the past. There is a difference between holiday lets that simply tolerate dogs and those that actually provide a holiday destination that is focused on making sure your dogs are safe and comfortable, and East Ruston Cottages definitely come into the latter category. Thank you so much to Sue and the team as always for a pleasant and relaxing break.

This was our 2nd stay at The Lodge and we loved it as much as the first time we stayed, the property is spotlessly clean, the garden is just beautiful and my 3 cocker spaniels loved it, we were lucky enough to have sun all week so made good use of the garden in the evenings, the bed is amazingly comfy, we loved the doggy shower outside it's a great addition to wash off sandy/muddy paws after a walk, the property is perfectly situated to explore Norfolk, Weavers way is just down the road which we loved, Happisburgh to Walkcott, Bacton woods, Durham canal, Cromer, overstrand, Mundesley, we ate out at The Lessingham star which is super dog friendly and food is lovely, and The Ship at Mundesley which does amazing food and has the best views and again very dog friendly, we would highly recommend The Lodge and would definitely return again.

Another wonderful week . We love this cottage so much and have already booked again for next year. Perfect for our reactive rescue, with Weavers Way just up the road , the lovely,And everything you need for a relaxing holiday, Even though the weather was not perfect we sat in the lovely garden and enjoyed peace and quiet . What a superb, dog-friendly cottage for two adults and their dogs. Everything was as we had expected. The cottage was compact but well equipped and well thought out. We didn’t make much use of the outdoor space, choosing to explore the local beaches and NT properties, however, we always knew the dogs were safe and contained in the garden when we were at the cottage.
All the appliances worked well though we didn’t use the television nor the coffee maker. The refrigerator and separate freezer were adequate for two for the week.
Fortunately, the super-king size bed was very comfortable. The sofa was not as comfortable as the arm chair so we took it in turns to benefit from the arm chair. The wet room facilities were good and, we noted, were equipped for someone with additional needs.

The Lodge is the 6th property we have stayed at through ERC and once again it certainly did not disappoint.
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome, with the lovely goodies that had been left for us.
Everything had been catered for with regards humans and dogs.
The garden was lovely and so dog friendly, the weather was not brilliant but that did not stop us having a great time.
The patio furniture was lovely, and would definitely have used the barbeque if weather had been better .
There was an outside hose that was not working which was a shame as that could have been very useful for washing down our puppy after coming back from muddy walks .
I can highly recommend the Lodge and once again ERC have proved they are the best company for providing everything you need when it comes to a perfect holiday.
Just going on line to see availability for next year.

The Lodge was extremely well equipped and the most dog friendly accommodation we have ever stayed in. A selection of dog beds, fleeces for the seating, dog treats, towels and bowls. There was a lovely welcome pack for us on the table and in the fridge. Tissues, toilets rolls, towels, tea towels, flannels, hand soap, washing up liquid, cleaning items. A decent sized little freezer & good sized fridge. Quiet location overlooking fields with Hare and deer roaming, Tawny owl heard at night. Warm and cosy.

We have stayed at The Lodge a few times and always found it warm and very comfortable. It is in an ideal position for dog walking from the door and yet only about 20 minute drive to Supermarkets, Garden Centres, the coast and numerous eating places. The owners had left us a lovely welcome pack including gluten free Promise bread, oatcakes and scones, as well as milk, cheese, butter, and eggs - all of which was much appreciated.

Went for a long weekend with my dogs and mum and her dog
Had a fantastic time even thou weather was hit and miss but it did not stop us
All 3 of my mini dachshunds loved it and settled so quickly mum brough her very nervous rescue who blossomed while away and really enjoyed it
The lodge was a delight every thing u need and so nicely presented dog beds and towels all provided and a lovley hamper on arrival for the humans
I’ve even booked to go back again in October absolutely love it did not want to come home my dogs are absolutely shattered and need a duvet day to recover

I booked this very last minute (the night before!) to extend a week already spent in the area. I was absolutely delighted to find the Lodge in a beautiful location in which to unwind and to explore the surrounding countryside. The accommodation was immaculate and provided real luxury for both me and my Westie XX

Another fabulous cottage from the ERC stable… really lovely ‘cottage’ everything you could need for a cosy stay. Garden was secure & worry free, as someone who struggles to find comfortable cottage furniture I have a degenerative spine; so sitting or sleeping is dependant on the beds etc. The Lodge had an enormous bed, which was so comfortable , I haven’t slept that well for so long… a short drive to amazing beaches that stretch on along the whole coast… have already booked again for October , which is a pretty good recommendation

We had another wonderful holiday. Our new rescue loved it and was perfect, for him as it’s his first holiday, first time on a beach, first time in a pub . Everything you could ever want is on the doorstep. Weavers Way is just minutes away . We have already booked for next year and we are counting the days . Had a lovely stay despite the bad weather. The Lodge was perfect, with everything you could possibly need or wish for, and a lovely basket of goodies on arrival. The location was perfect with all the beaches within a very short drive, which was why we visited as we wanted to take our dogs to the beach. They also had a couple of great walks at Happisburgh, up to the lighthouse! The only downside was that we felt a bit cramped, having four Labradors with us, and would have preferred a bit larger living room. That does not reflect at all on the great stay that we had, everything that was provided, and we would highly recommend to anyone looking for a dog-friendly holiday!

We had a lovely week staying at the lodge with our 2 labradors, the accommodation is compact but had everything we needed
Lovely touches leaving goodies for the adults and dogs. The garden was perfect with two sections for the dogs to explore with high fences which made it very secure, a door from the bedroom and lounge to the garden which was good especially early morning for the dogs.
The bed was extremely comfortable giving us a good nights sleep, with plenty of room for the dog beds.
The surrounding area was great with walks from weavers way for a local walk, we also found a amazing beach at Winterton on sea which we went to every day, even a couple of rainy days didn’t stop us, the village is lovely with Poppy’s tea rooms which serves breakfast and lunch. There is also a brilliant pub in the village called Fishermans return, lovely food
Our week went very quickly definitely return to one of East Ruston cottages

3rd time staying at the lodge, it really has everything you need to feel like home from home. It’s very well equipped for both the humans and the dogs - it also has a very high standard of cleanliness. The garden is a great size and is all enclosed. I love the location 7 minutes in the car to the nearest beach & also lots of National Trust places to visit. Thank you again for letting us stay.

We have had a very peaceful and relaxing break at The Lodge. We had a very hot week and unfortunately our Jake hates heat but the lodge is perfectly located for lovely shaded walks on Weavers Way and cooling dips in the sea on Cart gap beach.
The lodge is very comfortable especially the bed and has a wonderful wet room. The welcome pack was delicious. The garden and patio are lovely and well equipped with seats, tables and a welcome sunshade. This is the first holiday where Jake has truly relaxed in the garden, sleeping soundly on the lawn shaded by the high fencing. We will definitely look to return.

The Lodge is an amazing holiday accommodation. There is honestly nothing I can fault with it. We have been holidaying In Norfolk with ERC for nearly ten years and we’ve stayed at The Lodge for 6 years. It’s ideal for a couple on their own or with children. The garden is an amazing size especially as it has been expanded. Perfect for dogs to run around and play while we sit and/or lounge. It honestly feels like home from home and we always book for the next year before our current holiday is over.

Our second visit to the Lodge. Fabulous welcome pack. Very clean, modern and well equipped. Never had such a comfy bed in a holiday cottage!. The fully secure large garden is just wonderful for our 2 dogs, especially the dog shower which is great after visits to the beach. Only a few minutes drive to the beach or into Stalham for the supermarket. Very quiet spot on a private road so perfect for reactive dogs. Can't recommend enough. Definitely 5* for humans and dogs.

Had a fantastic stay at the Lodge , had everything you could possibly need and more .100% dog friendly, perfect quiet secluded enclosed garden that they loved, especially as one of my dogs is very reactive, and there was no passing traffic/people.Thank you so much for the lovely welcome pack , nice touch . Only 10 mins drive to lovely beaches , beautiful and quiet first thing on the morning. Only 30 mins drive to Great Yarmouth also.

We stayed at The Lodge 4 years ago and loved it then. So decided to go back. The Lodge is lovely and it is so relaxing as no traffic noise, just peace and quiet. The garden had been extended since our last visit and it is splendid - Molly our Labrador was over the moon to have two lawns to play on. Too cold and windy for us to make good use of the patio and summerhouse, but it was also nice to have the decking which was a bit sheltered. Can’t praise the super king bed enough - we both slept like tops every night. Molly sleeps on the bed with us so we took our own bedding as requested. The week was over too soon and we both wished we had booked for 2 weeks. We will be back again I’m sure.

Set on the edge of a village with views to the front over open fields yet only a short drive to local beaches.

Our first visit to a ERC. Beautifully clean, really comfy bed and loads of kitchen equipment.
Our 2 rescue dogs loved the enclosed grassy garden.
The welcome pack was a lovely surprise.
The dog shower made life so easy on returning from the local beach, Cart Gap, which was great for the boys.
Would definitely recommend!.

Our 2nd visit to The Lodge & certainly not our last. The property is fantastic for 2 adults + dogs & we love it that much we could claim squatters rights! A perfect location if you have a reactive dog, peaceful & quiet with great walks from the door. If you prefer the beaches (which were virtually empty over Easter) they're only a few mins drive away. The Lodge has a great garden & all mod cons, a real home from home.

The Lodge is small but has everything you need. It was exceptionally clean and warm and cosy. We enjoyed our stay as did our 2 Border Terriers one of which is very dog reactive. The Lodge was the ideal place for him. Very peaceful. The Lodge provides dog beds, towels and treats for your dog. If your dog normally sleeps on your bed as ours do, you can take your own bedding and it is home from home. Excellent.

Many thanks ERC for a lovely few days at The Lodge. Everything we could have needed was supplied, especially for the dogs. We really appreciated the dog beds, as these are a nightmare to take away with you. Fenn and Baldrick appreciated them too, spending many an hour peacefully slumbering after a bracing walk along the Weavers Way or by the sea at Cart Gap. Both of us working in the kitchen area was a bit or a challenge, so next time it will be to somewhere slightly bigger. Once again, many thanks.

Lovely property, very clean and well thought out with good appliances. Kitchen doesn't have a lot of prep space but everything was available. Welcome basket had lots of lovely goodies including local eggs, bread and scones. We loved the gift voucher and made good use of it at Dunes cafe where the dogs were very welcome and the food there was delicious.

We’ve stayed at The Lodge several times and keep coming back as it’s just so wonderful!

We don’t stray far, walks with the dogs at local beaches and the Weavers Way, then relaxing on the sofa and enjoying the peaceful location.

The Lodge is warm, clean, comfy, well equipped and everything works as it should. Looking forward to our next visit in a few weeks time.

A lovely welcoming accommodation with an excellent goodie pack waiting for our furbabies and ourselves. Everything was clean and facilities well provided. A couple of small enhancements would improve the cottage even further, with possibly chicken wire also put up at the main gate as our small dog attempted to squeeze through the gap, and investment in a power shower. However, overall a lovely quiet and relaxing place to stay.

We stayed here in an effort to get away from the fireworks as much as possible.
It was more than manageable for us this year so we have booked to return next November.
Very dog friendly area, lots of walks from the doorstep.
The Lodge was very clean and warm. Lovely super king sized bed. Good, secure garden for our girlies

We've stayed at quite a few East Ruston Cottages now and the standard doesn't drop. The Lodge is small and compact but very cosy and comfy. The bed is one of the best we've encountered. The weather wasn't the best so we didn't really enjoy the garden as much as we'd like but the decking area is lovely and the grass area split into two areas so plenty of space for dogs to play. It looks like a new patio area has been added and some new grass sown in. This got a bit muddy with the rain but once it's taken it'll be a superb little private alfresco dining space ideal for warm summer days. The washing line very useful for hanging the towels after using the wonderful external dog shower.
The welcome pack was lovely and the nespresso coffee machine was a fabulous extra touch.
One piece of advice I would give potential guests would be pack as light as you can. Not that much storage space inside and if you raw feed be advised the freezer is a small one so you may not have space for anything other than you dogs food.

This was our 2nd stay at The Lodge - again it was lovely & clean with everything you could possibly need for both the humans & dogs. Lots of extra little touches like the welcome basket & biscuits for the dogs ❤️. Norfolk is great for dogs lots of walks & places to visit that were all very dog friendly. We arrived to find a wonderful lodge with all the amenities you would need. We have a reactive dog (rescue) so had to find somewhere we could relax and enjoy a weeks break. This was an excellent location and space for the two of us and out two dogs. Excellent provision for dogs including 2 very good large dog beds. Our bed was very comfortable too. The dogs loved having an enclosed garden and the walks from the door along Weavers Way were great. Responsiveness was excellent when we had a problem (of our own making!) and someone was there to help within 10 minutes. Overall just what we had needed after a long and difficult year. Thank you.

Firstly, I loved the app explaining everything we needed to know about about the lodge and local amenities, an excellent idea which most definitely improved our experience. It was very well equipped and the ramp and wet room excellent as my husband is disabled. I was particularly impressed by the amount of thought gone in to provide everything we needed four our four legged friend !! Dog beds , bowls, shampoo, outside mixer shower and most importantly an enclosed garden.The lodge was cosy and the welcome pack of fruit drink , cake, marmalade,cheese, eggs and biscuits was fabulous.

We had a lovely time at The Lodge run by East Ruston Cottages, on arriving we had a lovely welcome basket for humans full of scones, bread, butter, cheese and a bottle of Pomegranate juice , the accommodation was very cosy and comfortable especially the superking bed , the walk in shower was also great, & if you had forgotten anything for your furbaby it was there even down to a lead very impressive
Although the location was peaceful and isolated you was only 10 minutes from beaches and shops & our favourite cafe at Happisburgh Smallsticks right near Carp Gap beach as well
We would definitely recommend and hope to return one day

Well situated for amazing walks, and only three miles from great dog friendly beaches. Sadly the local village pub was closed, ? Not recovered from results of Covid … Certainly the Lodge is a relaxing quiet space, the decking offers a nice sun trap space to eat and watch the dogs enjoy the garden. The welcome pack was a lovely personal touch. If you want a relaxed stress free space with two lively dogs this Lodge ticks the boxes.

We arrived on the 18th March 2022 for a weeks stay at The Lodge, from our first impressions it was perfect for us and our greyhound, Ellie. We were delighted with the welcome pack which included home made cake and bread! There were also locally made treats for Ellie, that she absolutely loved! The Lodge is in a perfect location for exploring the area. We went to see the seals at Horsey Gap, had a stroll around Cromer and Great Yarmouth, visited the glorious beaches at Walcott and Cart Gap, where we let our Ellie run off lead for the first time - there was no one else there! There is a wonderful walk called the Weavers Way just a short distance from the Lodge. Ellie and I walked it every day, and you can make it as long or as short a walk as you like. We saw deer, hares, foxes, pheasants and even a snake along there! We can recommend the fish and chips at the Kingfisher Restaurant in Walcott, and also No. 1 in Cromer. We also had a fantastic Chinese food delivery from the New Hong Kong takeaway in Stalham (be aware they only take cash) The food was delicious and delivery very quick! All in all, we loved it here. So much so, we looked at the end of our stay to see if we could extend it, but unfortunately it was already booked up. Not surprising really. We definitely will be back!

This was a last minute lets get away and this turned out to be a good move as the weather was fine with plenty of sunshine no rain and a very nice location. The lodge had every thing you could wish for and one of the best dog friendly cottages I've been in, all credit to the owners. The lodge is also very wheel chair friendly with every thing being on one level. The dogs lived in luxury with all sorts of treats left for them and the garden was ideal to let them loose in. A warm water dog shower now that is OTT.

My husband passed away suddenly last year so this was my first holiday for 4 years. My dogs and I were delayed by storm Eustus and then we had storm Franklin after we arrived, fortunately we had a few sunny spells and managed to see various places of interest. The Lodge was comfortable and warm with a welcome basket. The outdoor shower for the dogs was very welcome especially as it had warm water as it was exceptionally wet every where.

A short walk and minutes drives from beaches and woods. Happisburgh beach. Horsey gap. Cart gap. Bacton woods. Weavers way. The dogs had such great walks and I got out for some great cycling, on the quiet flat lanes with no roundabouts or traffic lights for miles ( from the chilterns so It’s a treat to not have a hill every few miles )
The lodge was clean cosy warm and smelt great. The welcome pack was a lovely addition as were the cards.

Myself, two children and two dogs spent a weekend at The Lodge in East Ruston at the end of November this year. The online chat function and booking process were quick and easy to use. Communication was fantastic leading up to our stay, during and then after leaving.

We arrived in the evening, pitch black all around except the pretty lights on the ramp to the front door. We took a torch with us which was handy for getting into the key safe. When we walked into the lodge it was beautifully lit and straight away I got a warm and welcoming feeling. We unloaded the car and I made myself a hot drink while feeding the dogs and noticing the little gestures left for us - homemade dog biscuits and the most fabulous food hamper! The lodge was a gorgeous little place with more than everything we needed - honestly couldn't think of anything that could be offered! The personalised plates were a sweet touch :)

The weekend we stayed at the lodge was possibly the wettest and windiest of the year(!) so we didn't get to spend any time in the garden which was a shame, but when inside it felt like we were completely alone and at peace, the perfect getaway from all the hustle and bustle of normal daily life. My dogs loved mostly lounging about over the weekend. We did go for a very blustery walk along Walcott seafront one morning and a great evening meal at The Lighthouse Inn but otherwise we holed up and kept warm. Would absolutely book through ERC again.

A second short stay at The Lodge for me and Milly, and we enjoyed it even more than the first. Though there's so much to enjoy in the surrounding area, we stuck to walks from the door this time, using the Weavers Way and local footpaths and not getting back in the car till we left. The Lodge is very comfortable and well equipped for both humans and dogs with the outdoor dog shower being particularly useful when we got back with muddy boots and paws!
Thanks for the excellent welcome pack, to the owners, to Sue and all at ERC, I think you do a brilliant job.

We spent a very relaxing two weeks at The Lodge in October. It is located in very quiet countryside with a very dog-friendly garden. The views from the Lodge are across fields and there are plenty of good dog walks in the vicinity.
The Lodge is well equipped and has excellent facilities. It's all on one level with ramped access at the front (ideal for our arthritic older dog!) and there is also an outside dog shower which is useful for washing off mud or sand from the beach.
It is well located for beach or countryside walks and there are also good dog-friendly pubs in the area; also lots of local food producers around.

Nice place for a stay only a short distance to excellent walks on the Weavers way, Bacton woods and many beaches.

Lovely garden with ample seating to enjoy the lovely weather we were lucky enough to have.

Although the lodge was well equipped the kitchen area was a little small to cook in and the smoke dector was very sensitive and it went off a few times that our dog did not like

This was our 1st time visiting Norfolk & staying at the Lodge. The Lodge itself was lovely, very clean & had everything you could possibly need - also the Super King Size Bed was amazing. The welcome hampers for the humans & the dogs were fab. Lots to see & loads of dog friendly places to visit & the beaches are great!! We have already booked for next year as still lots more to see & places I want to go to again.

We booked here as our friends were staying at sea glass barns (a minutes walk away). The lodge is very well equipped and exceeded our expectations. The amount of things for the dog was great & she settled easily (bowls, beds, dog towels, throws for sofa, treats). The lodge was immaculately clean and very cosy. If you have a dog(s), I would highly recommend this place as a base. It has everything you need and more including dishwasher, washer, fridge & freezer.
The only things missing for us, was a headboard on the bed & a fan as it was so hot as The Lodge retained the heat (will be great in winter!) as we were fortunate to have amazing weather.
Couple of other minor points: bedroom doors to the decking were a pain to lock and stuck. Bedroom blind needs replacement & blind in kitchen was broken, so we fastened a dog towel in the window to create a make shift blind as it was right by the loo & you can see in from the drive.
Our friends in their accommodation had a less clean & less well equipped space and all loved the lodge. We easily hosted a bbq for all 7 of us in the lodge garden.
The local area was wonderful & highly recommend Sea Palling beach. Seals can be seen at Horsey Beach & you need to book tables at the nearer popular pubs as it was difficult to get in. The nearest village Stalham has all you need: a boots, a Tesco, great butchers & plenty of take aways all within a few minutes drive. I would also recommend having cash on you as a lot of places were accepting cash only, particularly take aways & fish & chip shops amongst others.
All in all a great little find.

We have stayed in quite a few of ERC’s cottages since 2009. All of them have been comfortable and well very equipped. They are also perfect for dog owners. Our canine pals love those long sandy beaches and being welcomed into local pubs. The Lodge is modern and beautifully decorated. You should try it. Finally, if you ever need to ask Sue, the proprietor of ERC, to check anything or to sort a minor problem she always fixes things quickly and cheerfully. First class customer service!

We had a fabulous stay at The Lodge with our reactive rescue, Ruby. The location was perfect as it was very quiet (although Ruby did bark at the neighbours whenever they were in their gardens, but thankfully we didn't receive any complaints)

The bed was so comfortable that I didn't want to get up in the mornings, and the deck caught all the afternoon sun - great for relaxing with a glass of wine after a long walk.

We would love to come back again, but we are relocating overseas later this year and this was our last British holiday

After having our booking for last year curtailed due to the pandemic, we returned this year. We have always been made to feel welcome and looked after by the friendly owners John and Jo.This year there are new owners who live away, and the usual non intrusive friendly interaction has sadly gone. The reason we have stayed at The Lodge on many previous occasions is that it is so private and quiet. We were unable to use the new garden extension, because of the proximity of the new adjacent holiday let garden which meant conversations could be clearly heard. Of course this would be a plus for both properties to be let to friends wishing to holiday together.
The feather duvet bedding, we found to be heavy, hot, and uncomfortable. Clients with allergic reaction to feathers need to be aware.

I am so sorry your stay wasn't as good as you would have liked. The owners moving was rather out of our control I am afraid. We would have been only too happy to provide you with lighter bedding if you had asked. The cost of your booking was just £50 more than 2 years ago so I do hope you consider that to be fair. Any cleaning issues we would have attended to immediately had they been brought to our attention and any service issues too. I am so sorry that your visit this time has resulted in such a low score for us and we really would have been only too happy to improve anything we could to make it better. Sue

Wow a lovely calm quiet and comfy place to stay. The lodge has everything you need for a lovely holiday in Norfolk. A lovely welcome basket of goodies for adults and dogs too. The bed is very comfortable and you sleep well every night. The garden is very secure and private a lovely place to sit and relax knowing your dog cannot escape, the dog shower is a great addition when you have been to the beach to wash all the sand off those little paws. I booked a stay for my parents who had to shield for part of the year due to my Fathers health.
This cottage is absolutely ideal because it provides gentle, easy access throughout from the front access ramp to the well thought out wet room.
The outlook at the front is over fields and the bedroom and lounge open onto a lovely decked area and the garden beyond. Inside it is very well designed and beautifully decorated,

We can not recommend our holiday cottage enough. It’s all about the dogs, everything you can think of they have done it, the location is perfect, parking, dog shower , extra garden. This is a lovely little wooden cottage. It has everything you need for a week stay. I would probably like to have working internet if we were to stay longer, but that is just me not being very good at relaxing and switching off!
It was warm, it was cosy, it was exactly as described. What else can you expect? We had a little fault with a light during our stay which was fixed promptly.
The outside hot shower for the dogs was a God send as it was cold and wet whilst we were there and the dogs would not have been happy with a cold clean up!
I would absolutely recommend this accommodation to someone.

A spotlessly clean, comfortable well laid out Lodge with a fully enclosed garden.

We felt at home straight away, and the dogs loved the garden. The Lodge was light bright with patio doors from the bedroom and living room. Also two roof windows that let in light and you can open if it is hot. Wet room bathroom was great.

You have a supermarket and chippie about 2-3 miles away in Stalham. Easy to get to the coast and to the broads. A quiet village with no amenities but so relaxing and quiet. Will very happily go back.

Only small problem was there was no kitchen towel or much hand-wash, but apart from that everything was supplied. Loved it.

Lovely place to stay, clean and comfortable, very safe for the dogs, parking outside, the dog shower was a godsend to cool them down and wash off the sand. We loved sleeping with the doors open and seeing the night sky with the meteor showers. The local area is lovely, close to the beaches and Bacton woods, everyone is so friendly. We have stayed here twice now and would love to return.

I've stayed in countless cottages in Norfolk over the past ten years with my lovely spaniel and The Lodge at East Ruston has certainly been the most dog friendly. The garden is secure and private with wire fencing underneath tall laurels. There is a hot and cold dog shower outside too. The flooring inside was nice and cool and easy to keep clean. There were spare poo bags,water bowls, towels and a dog bed.
The welcome hamper was fantastically generous and included some dog treats.
The Lodge is well located for trips to the seaside and equally convenient for the Broads.
Highly recommended.

We have stayed at The Lodge on three occasions. It has always been warm, comfortable and clean. We were a little nervous of venturing out this year after lockdown but felt comfortable in all of the local eateries. The Lodge is dog friendly but the garden gate is not very high so not good for jumpers. There is ramp access and a wet room. A shower stool is provided on request but there are no fixed rails in the shower or round the toilet. There is room around the toilet bring yr own toilet surround.

A return visit to The lodge for a short break to recharge my batteries. The accommodation is clean, well thought out, very comfortable and cosy. The location is handily close to the Weavers Way. beaches are 15 minutes drive away.

Just a fab place to stay!

After a long and difficult drive in the aftermath of Storm Ciara and the onset of Storm Dennis, we were delighted to finally get into the warmth and comfort of The Lodge. It’s a well designed, well equipped and beautifully decorated cabin with everything you could possibly need, and plenty of space for the two of us and our staffie, Jackson. The inclusion of the sofa bed also meant a friend could join us for a couple of days with her pupper, Roxy.
The village of East Ruston is quaint but provides nothing but a pub (The Butchers Arms - dog friendly, decent food, massive portions) and a couple of honesty boxes, but the closest town, Stalham, a few minutes drive, has a fabulous butchers and a good sized Tesco for any provisions.
There’s a basket full of leaflets with info on everything that you can do in the area but, sadly for us, the weather was not kind so exploring opportunities were limited. That said, we visited four beaches, all of which were fabulous. Happisburgh is the closest at around 10 minutes drive but would be walkable in better weather; a half hour drive away is Overstrand where you can walk up to Cromer and beyond, then come back along the Norfolk Coastal path; in the other direction, Winterton and Horsey have a large seal colony but they weren’t around when we visited.
After our wet and windy walks it was lovely to come back to the Lodge and just relax in the peace and quiet. The clear skies at night provided amazing star gazing opportunities, if that’s your thing.
Whilst I would highly recommend this property, it’s unlikely we would return purely because of the distance from our home in Lancashire - over 6 hours to get there and 7 to get home!

Me, my husband, my dog and cat booked a 4 night stay at the lodge for my birthday. The booking was simple to do and sue stayed in contact throughout the process.
The lodge itself was clean and comfortable with brilliant bed. It had everything we needed. We all enjoyed our relaxing stay.

I have a rescue GSD x who, although a big boy, is very frightened of fireworks! I have previously stayed at an East Ruston cottage in the summer and so discussed where best to go in November and they suggested The Lodge. The Lodge is indeed quiet. We heard some fireworks but they were too far away to cause distress. I'm afraid that this review won't help anyone looking for a firework free 2020..... cos I have already booked for next year! I am so looking forward to repeating the long walks on the beach and along the Weavers Way footpath and just chilling out x

Thoroughly enjoyed the holiday. Made all the better having a base such as the lodge which we found to be excellent. Very clean, spacious, everything you were likely to need was there. The flowers were lovely, the food welcoming pack was excellent. And the wine washed it down nicely.
The location was ideal with plenty of places to visit within easy reach. The weavers way was 5 minutes walk away, Bacton woods was about 15 mins away. Large woods where dogs could run all day in safety chasing squirrels, rabbits, and muntjac.
The beaches were good, clean sand and plenty of room. Winterton on sea was particularly good with the option of being able to walk for miles in the sand dunes.
Everywhere we went was accessible with the two dogs, all the restaraunts ,cafes, which we visited daily to re-fuel with all the walking we did. We have to active collies but come the end of the day they soon settled down on their beds.

For us, a successful holiday, will do it again.

We had a lovely week staying at The Lodge. Fab location for The Broads, lots of beaches and various walks as well as handy for supermarket etc. The Lodge itself was comfortable and clean and in a very quiet location. We loved the welcome pack we received when we arrived and ended up buying some more treats for our dog as she loved them so much. We also received lots of useful information on walks and best local chippy before we went which was equally really helpful

This is our second stay at the lodge, suits us very well, clean, quiet and homely. Only thing that would improve is to be able to have a blind on the skylight in the bedroom, bright sunshine woke us up most mornings far earlier than required!

I personally have had a stroke and although it was very comfortable there were things that would have made it easier for
me. eg things were to high up and although the bed was very comfortable, for me personally it was difficult.

We had a fantastic week at The Lodge. It’s perfect for just the two of us and the dog and had everything we needed for a great holiday. The welcome gifts were lovely and the dog particularly enjoyed the biscuits! It’s only about 10 minutes drive to fantastic beaches and yet so quiet and peaceful for just sitting on the decking and relaxing.

Our third time at the Lodge and it felt like coming home! The booking process was as efficient as ever and we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The level of cleanliness was impressive, given this is a popular ‘doggy’ holiday venue and we really appreciated the little extras (flowers, bread, milk, etc and treats for the dog). The Lodge is such a calm and peaceful retreat - we hope to be able to stay again soon!

The Lodge is perfectly located for a quiet getaway. Beautiful beaches nearby for a stroll with the dogs. For me the dog friendly Lodge is ideal as I feel my dogs are welcome and they are my family. The Lodge is a beautiful place to stay, modern, clean and well equipped, that's why I'm going for a 3rd year.

Always love coming back to The Lodge after staying here over the past few years, however as the hedging has grown around the small garden, although providing privacy, has now become quite claustrophobic.
This bathroom cabinet has been removed, and there is now nowhere to store personal things in the shower room.
Safe and secure small garden, and so near to lovely walks, it still remains a homely place to return to.

This is the second time staying at the lodge and we have had a fantastic time, everything we needed was there, like home from home, the standard was excellent, lovely and peaceful and the garden very secure for our dogs. It was a good base to explore Norfolk, would highly recomend this property.

We have had a wonderful week at The Lodge and visiting North Norfolk. Having a bad knee I wanted a place that accommodated that and I wasn’t disappointed. The two dogs were in their element and enjoyed being able to wander into the grassed garden when they wanted. We did learn that our 9 month old lab puppy could jump the decking gate though, which was a surprise! Luckily she did not run off but we had to keep an eye on her. Lovely welcome gift from the owners and flowers which brightened our arrival. We were so impressed with the super king size bed that we have been inspired to get our own, the mattress was so comfortable! No backache for a week! The Lodge has everything you could want or need for a stay and we would certainly recommend. The addition of the dog shower was a brilliant idea.

This was our 4th visit to The Lodge and once again we were not disappointed. It is very comfortable, modern and convenient for walks, beaches and shops whilst being in a quiet country setting. Dogs are made particularly welcome with beds, bowls and towels provided and a large, safe garden to run around in. We particularly appreciated the new hot and cold doggy shower outside. The welcome hamper, including dog treats, is also appreciated. For a quiet restful holiday or a base to explore North Norfolk, I would recommend it wholeheartedly.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Lodge in East Ruston. When we arrived we did have a problem with the hot water boiler and it was sorted out very quickly as well as some cracked wine glasses which were replaced.

This is a lovely spot and very nice to relax here and explore. I just wished there was a little more in the line of cookery utensils. i.e. pots and pyrex dishes and cooking implements as I hate to keep using the dish washer all the time. Also there were no dog toys which was a little disappointing as we love to throw balls for our dogs on the lawn area and this would have been amazing.

The weather was fabulous and we were able to sit out on the lovely veranda and enjoy this as it is a wonderful sun trap.

We did have a little problem with the shower unfortunately this has happened before. It does right itself if left alone.

Would it be possible please to have more dog throws and dog beds as we felt a little awful to have our dogs on the lovely sofas.

My disabled sister, me and our three dogs have spent three lovely weeks at The Lodge and are hoping to return next year. It’s comfortable, warm and has a nice enclosed garden. It’s close to the beach, Bacton woods, Weavers Way and some dog friendly pubs. What is there not to like.

Having arrived at the Lodge with our three dogs we were immediately able to settle in and looked forward to this short break. Nothing disappointed us from the warmth of the interior to the peacefulness of the surroundings. Welcomed with provisions and treats for our three girls we were at ease straight away. Following advise from the owners and other previous occupants we booked a couple of meals out and travelled on recommendations to Blickling Hall to see the beautiful bluebells, Sheringham Park, Blakeney Island boats to see the seals and walked locally from the lighthouse at Happisburgh to cart gap where we enjoyed the small but well provisioned cafe. The Lodge gave us the capability to entertain and accommodate my brother and his wife for a couple of nights during our week long stay and at no time did we feel cramped. Ample hot water allowed us all to shower and the outside provision of a warm shower for our sand covered dogs saved the interior from becoming beach like. The accommodation has been well thought out and throughout all items were clean, modern and working. Even the provision of local eggs and other products i.e. milk, tea, coffee, jams etc was a perfect touch. The enclosed garden area with side gate was perfect for the dogs too. We highly recommend this Lodge and will be looking to rebook on a regular basis.

Loved the peace and tranquillity. Very comfy large bed.Secure rear garden for our dogs was a plus and the decking was a great suntrap and used on the sunny days, but it needed pressure washing! Great place for dog walks on Weavers Way and beaches nearby all dog friendly plus good pubs. The only things that would have turned this into the perfect holiday are a bigger and better television and the sound was out of sync and a more comfortable settee for nights in.

We really enjoyed our week at the Lodge. It’s got everything you need and is ideal for dogs, they enjoyed playing in the secure garden and sleeping in the provided dog bed. The Lodge is close to some great places to visit and Norfolk as a whole is incredibly dog friendly. Definitely recommend it

Excellent location, very quiet, great for a peaceful holiday. Surrounding area very interesting. Lovely dog friendly pubs and cafes. More hooks for hanging coats would have been appreciated. We found the window blinds extremely difficult to operate. Otherwise everything else was great. Whole cottage was very well presented and ideal for two people with or without dogs. It would be lovely to go again.

The Lodge is a great facility for staying on holiday with your beloved dogs. Barley and Daisy loved their stay and it was relaxing for us all as it really is set up for dogs and owners alike to enjoy their holiday without adhering to a long list of do's and don't's. The facilities in The Lodge are very good and the location is idyllic. The garden is a lovely place to relax too without worrying about an escapee! All in all a great holiday was had by us all.
