Wow. In a setting this beautiful, the house could easily leave all the talking to the scenery and still be wonderful. But Bank Barn is simply stunning in its own right.

Everything has been thoughtfully and stylishly put together, yet unlike some special places that can leave you feeling a little on edge, from the moment we walked through the door, we felt completely relaxed and at home.

We stayed to celebrate my 50th birthday and couldn’t have chosen a better place. We enjoyed an afternoon drink at the Brackenrigg pub before returning to the house to cook, with the kitchen fully equipped for everything we needed. We spent the evening playing games by the fire and loved every moment.

Even bedtime was a treat! We have to find out which pillows they use, as they were the comfiest we have ever slept on.

All in all, we couldn’t recommend Bank Barn highly enough. It was the perfect setting for a special birthday, and our 10-year-old daughter was so reluctant to leave that she asked when we could return before we had closed the door.

Thank you for sharing this incredible place.

I cannot recommend Bank Barn highly enough! An easy drive from Edinburgh makes it ideal for both a short break or a longer holiday and the location and views are perfect.
The house has a calm feeling and is filled with fascinating artefacts from the owners time living and travelling in Asia and the Middle East, it is spacious but cosy and there is a wonderful open fire to sit around after a long day walking in the main sitting room. Accommodation is very luxurious, with comfortable beds and there is every amenity you could possibly need. The house can sleep eight comfortably but equally a group of four friends with a room each works well too
I have been to Bank Barn three times now and it is my go to place in the Lake District…. Which I guess says it all!
