We just spent a wonderful short break at Hill Crest lodge, and it was everything we hoped for. The layout offers the best of both worlds—the decking area is beautifully private, while the other side of the lodge gives you completely uninterrupted views over stunning farmland, and views over to the lake district mountains. I worked in the travel industry for many years and have never left a five star review in all categories until now. Geltsdale is located 10 minutes from Carlisle, 15 minutes from Hadrian'sWall and 20 minutes to the Lake District. The M6 is literally minutes away and Wetheral has a number of good eating places. Geltsdale has picture perfect views and wildlife in abundance. It is great value for money!
Lovely location in the family estate, the accommodation over looks fields and woodland and was very well presented Access to many walks, not to far from all the well known Lakes and tourist attractions. For those who want to explore many roads off the beaten track with beautiful views . Recommended.
We had a lovely long weekend at Watson Cottage. The cottage had everything you could possibly need and it was warm and very comfortable. The hot tub was an added extra! It's a beautiful location with lots of things to do whatever the weather.
We recently stayed at this charming two-bedroom bungalow in the peaceful coastal village of Seascale with our dog, and it was a truly lovely experience from start to finish. Being so close to the beach made it feel like a real seaside escape, and having Seascale Golf Course nearby added to the relaxed, holiday atmosphere. Lovely cottage in a great location with everything you could need provided. Easy to find and has the best of both worlds as it is in a rural location but also near town and attractions. Motorway very handy if you wanted to go further. Hosts helpful. Carlisle is an interesting town and lakes can be reached as well as Hadrians Wall so plenty to do and see.
Outstanding stay at Stonethwaite Barn We had a fantastic week at Stonethwaite Barn, Cardew. The barn itself is absolutely beautiful and finished to an outstanding quality. The beds were extremely comfortable, making for a truly relaxing stay. The location is fabulous, situated just 5 to 10 minutes away from most local amenities while still feeling like a peaceful getaway. We had a fab week at mill cottage. We were there for the fly fishing. But the cottage had everything we needed for a week away. We had some beautiful weather too, which we took full advantage of in the suntrap of a garden.
I rented 2 cottages. Both excellent. Well presented, lovely location, friendly and helpful hosts. Perfect base for visiting Hadrian's wall and northern lakes.
We had a wonderful week away at Hawthorne Cottage. A perfect location to walk from and explore the delights of the Lakes. Added bonus of a great pub in the village serving good food too. Perfect little cottage delightfully decorated and perfect for two and our dog given the secure garden. Host was extremely helpful and welcoming.
I stayed at the cottage with my partner and dog. Our stay was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The first thing I was met by was the outdoor area, which was an amazing place full of character. During the stay, time was spent in the outdoor area and shared garden. Having the option to sit inside a part enclosed area was a lovely touch and so cosy on an evening. We’ve just had a beautiful stay here. Our cottage was well equipped and comfortable. The kids loved the farm aspect and I loved that we were so close to fascinating beaches and reed beds.
This cottage is beautiful. Everything you need for a fabulous stay. The hosts made the stay perfect. Clear directions to cottage. A txt beforehand asking which milk we preferred. A perfect getaway for those who want to get away from it all. Floor to ceiling windows offer incredible views over the burn and surrounding woodland. The area is teaming with wildlife which will provide you with hours of entertainment from inside or out. Relax in the hot tub while taking in the incredible scenery. We had a warm and comfortable stay at the Shepherds retreat. Our dog loved the large garden and we enjoyed the hot tub, we had clear starry skies and the clear instructions made it easy to use. It went down to -3 outside but we did nt notice that indoors. We were cosy .
Everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday is provided at Vallum, Irthington. The apartment was spotlessly clean. A lovely peaceful location, great for countryside and coast
We had a really great stay at Geltsdale East Wing, with some really unexpected bonus features - leaving aside the excellent cottage for a moment, the views from the windows over the gardens to the surrounding landscape were stunning - and only surpassed by the sight of deer, pheasants, herons and ducks making their frequent visits to the grounds. Wow. In a setting this beautiful, the house could easily leave all the talking to the scenery and still be wonderful. But Bank Barn is simply stunning in its own right. Everything has been thoughtfully and stylishly put together, yet unlike some special places that can leave you feeling a little on edge, from the moment we walked through the door, we felt completely relaxed and at home. A quiet private and peaceful lodge surrounded by greenery and very convenient for the Lake District’s northern fells, Ullswater and all the shops in Penrith. Very well equipped with comfortable beds, good showers, very fast WiFi and numerous books, games and videos. The wonderful conservatory which opens in 2 sides to the garden was an added bonus. Also, the biggest leather sofa in the universe!
Very responsive owner , lovely accomodation of high quality and great location. Everything worked properly, warm and comfortable.
The only thing the place is missing is decent wifi. The pictures you see are old pictures, the little decked patio is no longer there but that didn’t really matter because when we were outside we were making good use of the hot tub which ofcourse is now sheltered by a pergola! This place is good for if you want to get away from the world and focus on you and your partner, there is a 6 foot privacy fence surrounding with woods and a burn to the rear. Highly recommend!
This was our 2nd stay in this delightful cottage and it didn’t disappoint. Perfectly located in the centre of Coniston to enjoy the beautiful local walks and selection of pubs. The cottage was very clean and well equipped with everything we needed. The heating was on when we arrived so very welcoming. The new bathroom was a lovely addition. The enclosed garden was great for our dogs. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
Oak Cottage has been incredibly well thought out to ensure that you have everything you need and all feels very “high end” compared to many holiday rentals. The location is simply stunning looking out towards the Lake District fells and Scottish mountains in the distance. The walk up onto Castle Carrock Fell behind the property was great for our dogs and provided some stunning vistas. The hosts were extremely accommodating and friendly.
Everything was good, accommodation was as advertised. One disappointment as a DVD was mentioned in the equipment list at the Cottage so we took a lot of DVD’s for the children. The slip mat in the bath was torn and a slip mat in the walk-in shower downstairs would improve the safety. Apart from these perhaps a fly curtain would be a good idea at the doorway to the jacuzzi as this was open a lot during our stay. These are recommendations only but I feel would improve the facilities. Nevertheless we had an enjoyable stay.
We had a great stay at Thwaite Hill Barn. The cottage is spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing break. The beds were cosy too. Thornthwaite is a peaceful location and a perfect base for exploring the local walks, yet quiet enough to completely unwind. Cumbrian Cottage Holidays were extremely helpful, and quick to communicate. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better getaway with our furry fiends, who were also made welcome in the local Gallaries tearoom!
Loved this property for our long weekend undertaking a walk for life for Anthony Nolan in memory of my partner. Can’t fault anything; loved the garden, (playing croquet), the jacuzzi, the views the comfort of the bedrooms , all the kitchen facilities, utility room. comfy living rooms, plenty of bathrooms, dog friendly, and even the large welcome pack was mostly vegan which is unusual :) Didn’t want to leave and will definitely come back. I called and spoke to Tracey the day before we were due to arrive and was struck by how happy she sounded that we were coming despite never having met us which served to raise the excitement we already felt. We were greeted on arrival and given lots of information on the lie of the land and places to eat and shop then entered the cosiest homely, cottage on a dreary day to find everything ready for a hot cuppa with a sweet treat. We had the most wonderful stay at Eden Mount, the building is stunning with excellent facilities throughout. Large rooms and a lovely sun trap garden space. The location was superb as it is a 5 minute walk to the train station for trips back into Carlisle. Alternatively, we stayed local and ate at The Crown, The Wheatsheaf and Fantails. Overall, just a fantastic holiday home which we can highly recommend! 10/10!
This is an amazing place to relax and unwind in comfort and luxury. There is everything you need in this holiday home to enjoy your stay and loads of local resources to make your stay what you want. The paths to explore around the tarn are perfect for a short walk and there are many longer ones nearby. Brampton is a great town to explore and collect some supplies, further Carlisle is a treat too
What a lovely place to stay, it was an ideal place for walking from the door, or taking a bus ride, the cottage it’s self was well stocked with everything we needed, although we don’t cook while away we could of if we wanted as there was everything you would need, the furniture was all good condition and not the cheap stuff you sometimes get in holiday cottages, if there was any complaint it would be that the are not drawers in the small bedroom, others than that it was such a beautiful cottage, nearly forgot to mention the ducks cheeky little ducks knock on the window when they see you, would...more
We stayed at Bank House as part of a family celebration for my mother’s 90th birthday. It was ideally suited to a multi generational holiday with plenty of space for different activities for different groups. It was lovely to have 2 dish washers and plenty of crockery, cutlery and glasses for our large group. We stayed end of October and the house was warm and welcoming. Highly recommended.
This has been a very enjoyable self catering experience. We spent eight nights at the very comfortable 8 Tarn End Cottage and it was truly a home away from home. We would highly recommend this location for a peaceful break overlooking the lake.
We loved every minute of our stay at this property. It was incredibly tranquil, comfortable and we had everything we needed. I will miss our morning walks and the gorgeous view. The best part? The ice from the freezer never ran out and that was a brilliant touch, especially so far from shops. Overall, we had a great time, thank you.

LOVELY WELL EQUIPPED COTTAGE ONLY A MINUTE OR TWO FROM THE LOCAL CO-OP AND SOME LOVELY PUBS AND A GORGEOUS FRENCH RESTAURANT. THE COTTAGE HAS EVERYTHING YOU NEED AND IS TUCKED AWAY FROM THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE OF THE TOWN. CORRESPONDING WITH CUMBRIAN COTTAGES WAS EFFORTLESS WHEN WE HAD AN ISSUE, WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOOKING THIS COTTAGE.
We had a lovely stay at Anley cottage, everything we needed was there (apart from a vegetable peeler ) and we loved the quirky decor. The beds were wonderfully comfortable but considering the heat it would have been handy to have the option of lighter bedding. It didn't matter too much, we just slept on top of the duvets. The street was very peaceful, apart from a visiting hedgehog which we had to rescue out of our recycling. All in all we had a stay at this property and would highly recommend it!
We had a lovely week in the cottage, it was extremely comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. We loved the homely touches of pictures of the Lake District and the soft furnishings with pictures of sheep! The views from the cottage were excellent and we enjoyed several walks around the immediate area.

Our cottage stay was just what we needed and exceeded our expectations. The location is so lovely and peaceful. Walks from the door step and views across the Tarn made they stay even more special. The property was immaculate and well maintained. We wished we could have stayed longer, and hope to book again next year.
The property has fabulous views of the lake and nearby fells. It was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The kitchen, dining, sitting area are very spacious. We had an issue with the Nespresso coffee machine and a replacement was provided the following day, excellent customer service. There is a pub and restaurant in walking distance and a short drive to Pooley Bridge. New Tesla EV superchargers are now open at Rheged (about 5 miles from property) which was very convenient. We will definitely consider staying at this property again.
We had a fantastic stay at the cabin! It is easily accessible from the M6 and a great base for exploring the Lake District. The cabin itself was modern and clean - we had all the amenities we needed for our stay and they were all top of the range (especially the bed and kitchen)! We loved the privacy of the cabin/hot tub and the view across the estate was incredible! We will 100% stay here again - so glad we found this gem!
We were pleasantly surprised following our Hill Cottage booking at relatively short notice. Property all excellent and many thanks to Rikki for mid stay clean. Very minor maintenance issue sorted by the team. Property is very central for loads of varied walks.
The property is lovely - clean, comfortable and nicely decorated, with wonderful rural views. Very convenient for Pooley Bridge/Ullswater. Access to the property was very straightforward. The basket of treats on arrival was a welcome surprise - thank you! We didn't explore much as we only stayed for 2 full days, but the location would make it a great base for going further afield.
This was our fourth time staying here. It’s a great space for a family get together. An impressive building and has a lord of the manor feel. Great open outdoor view across the countryside with deer roaming freely. We will be back again. John
What a beautifully decorated little hideaway! I needed a few quiet days to recharge after a hectic August and this couldn’t have been more perfect! The bedroom was sumptuous, the bathroom was modern and the living area was cosy. The kitchen also had all the necessities and even some fresh eggs from the farm which was a delightful surprise. Cosy Cottage has a great location in Ambleside . . . up and around the corner from The Bridge House on the main road. Great for going out for a drink or catching the bus. Slight downside is there is a bit of street noise and chatting as people go home from the pubs . . . may not be for you if you are a light sleeper, we didn't find it an issue, found it to be an advantage being central. The prefect place for our break in the Lakes for our daughter’s birthday. The lodge is comfortable and well equipped - it met all our needs. The hot tub was great for post walk relaxation, catching the sunset and just chilling.
Great location, and directions provided prior to arrival. Warm welcome from the host. The Snug has a great range of cooking items etc you would need for a short break. Bed was lovely and comfortable, good sized towels provided for the bathroom, and hot tub. Hot tub was clean and ready for use. Only 2 little things which were 'annoying'. We had a lovely stay at Orchard House. The house was spacious, warm and very well equipped. The beds were super comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub with great views across to the Solway Firth. There is a nice pub in the local village.
Fabulous house, clean, welcoming and very relaxing. We booked last minute as a end of exam treat for our daughter and enjoyed our stay! The house is stunning, it had everything we need. We sat outside listening to the birds and enjoyed the view. It is a little out of town and there is a hill to walk up on the way back but don't let this put you off, it's worth the walk!

This great cottage had all the things we needed for a holiday with my elderly parents. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms were just what we needed. The location was fabulous just a short walk one way to the garden centre / Church and the other way to the village green. Lots of local shops and pubs nearby we didn't need to use our car all weekend.
This is our second stay here and it didn't disappoint. It's clean, comfortable, warm and has everything you could need for a wonderful stay. I could live here forever. Location is rural so no busy noisy roads making it a relaxing stay. It's our perfect match. Definitely our aaahhhh place.

This was our first stay at Glenmore. It was right in the heart of the town with free parking - a premium on Keswick. It was a small well laid out flat with everything we needed. Shopping was easy with 2 near by supermarkets. The bus station was just across the road, so at £3 a trip it was more convenient to use public transport to avoid Cumbria's hefty car park charges.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Sledbank Cottage. It was absolutely beautiful inside, spotlessly clean, really well equipped and very comfortable and relaxing, and the bed was super comfy too. We just felt so at home as soon as we walked in and were even welcomed with a card and home made ginger cake which was absolutely delicious. We love Grasmere and are so pleased we found this cottage. It's extremely spacious and central in Grasmere, everywhere is within walking distance and the parking permit means you don't have to worry about finding somewhere to park. Would definitely stay again.
The lodge is in a very central location to access most parts of the beautiful Lake District. We found the lodge clean and well equipped for our 1 week stay. The only down side was too many high-tech gadgets that were difficult to control. Many guests value the on-site facilities which we didn't use on our holiday.

We had a wonderful 6 night stay at the Blacksmiths Cottage. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped, and manages to be both cosy as well as spacious for two people. The communications from Cumbrian Cottage Holidays leading up to our stay were detailed and received in plenty of time ahead of our visit. The location is ideal for exploring Ullswater, with a short 10 minute walk to the Ullswater Steamer pier and regular busses from Pooley Bridge towards Glenridding. We would definitely book again.

I booked the hut as a last minute weekend trip to do some hiking. An absolute gem of a find. Very secluded and quite location with breath taking views to wake up to. Would highly recommend for a short stay. Has all the amenities you need, a comfy bed, a tv for the rainy days and a lovely shower in a reasonably sized bathroom!
We had an incredibly nice stay at the Hardwick cottage. Everything was so tidy and clean, comfortable and very luxurious! Yes, it’s next to a busy street but all the best places in the Lake District are very closeby because of that. The hot tub was a fantastic experience. Highly recommended place to stay in the Lakes!! We were a family group including 4 pre-teen children and we wanted somewhere that would be a good base for us to tackle some more Wainwrights. Daweswood was ideal. The house itself provided ample space and the grounds were great for the kids to explore. The adults were divided on the decor - personally I'm not a fan of Arts & Crafts - but the owners have clearly invested heavily. Interesting history to the property.

Fantastic location, set in front of rolling hills on a working farm. Accommodation was more than sufficient for 4 people + a dog. Clean, tidy, well presented and great views. Friendly owners too.
2 Mill Dam Cottage is about a 20 minute uphill walk from Coniston town centre. We found the cottage comfortable, well equipped and well cared for. Beautiful weather meant we could sit out on the table and chairs in the garden. The road up to the cottage from the main road is steep, narrow and twisty, making it a challenging drive. Supermarket vans cannot get up here, you will have to drive down and meet them on the main road. There is plenty of parking space, but this is about 200m away from the cottage.
Beautiful views and direct access to the river esk for walks. We saw lots of birds including a kingfisher. The outside of the property is stunning and the grounds are well maintained. The inside was comfortable and had everything we needed. Bathrooms could do with a refresh.

The cottage was ideal for my purposes as a single traveller to Keswick. Clean and comfortable; lovely bed - I especially liked the colour scheme throughout! Comfortable seats, occasional tables, clean well-equipped kitchen - trays - something rarely found - good quality crockery and cutlery. Also with the lovely weather, it was wonderful to have a choice of 3 areas to sit outside - I'm a bit of a sun worshipper. We enjoyed a very comfortable stay in No 2 Seed Howe. The cottage is very atmospheric and has a quirky layout with living room and kitchen upstairs. The ground floor bedrooms stay cool in the warm weather, which is a bonus in the current heatwave! The kitchen needs a few essentials like baking trays, and the garden at the back is a lovely suntrap, just needs some TLC. Overall, we had a great stay and found that Staveley is a very central location in the Lakes. Would definitely recommend!

We have been staying at Grasmere View for years - at least 15. We've lost count! Its view of Helm Crag and Grasmere Lake is unbeatable. We appreciated the new easy-to-operate TV and the air fryer, and the place was cleaner than sometimes it had been previously. There were two niggling issues - the shower head kept falling down and we couldn't fix it, and the bath is very slippy and there needs to be a shower mat in there to prevent falling over. Lovely cottage and very private with a lovely Hot tub. The cottage is very well maintained and clean., It’s in a perfect location for a romantic get away. Feed back: 1. The mattress needs changing as you can start to feel the springs inside. 2. The TV definitely needs to change along with the 90’s Sky box. The entertainment wasn’t great as you were stuck to free tv channels on a 19inch very old Tv. Bramble Cottage was a great little place to stay if you want peace and quiet. Keswick is a 15min walk away, mostly downhill and with easy access to the cycle trail. The cottage itself had everything we needed... plenty of hot water, good shower and very comfy bed. Sadly not all the cooking utensils and oven door were clean, and whilst it's understandable that it's an old building, there were patches of damp in the bathroom and bedroom that required some TLC.
