Nestled below Skiddaw and within a short walk from the lake which the village takes its name, Bassenthwaite is the perfect base for exploring the northern Lake District with activities and attractions on the doorstep. Dodd Wood, Ashness Bridge, Whinlatter Forest, Go Ape and the Lake District Wildlife Park are all within a short drive. The market town of Keswick and Derwentwater are a 20 minute drive with shops, pubs and restaurants along with attractions for young and old, the Puzzling Place and Pencil Museum are worth a visit. There is walking from the door, head over the Caldbeck fells and explore the nearby villages of Ireby and Uldale or explore some of the Wainwrights surrounding the village including Skiddaw, Helvellyn, Catbells and Latrigg.

This ground floor, traditional cottage is converted from a 17th century barn, located on the owners working hill farm 2 miles south east of Bassenthwaite. Furnished and equipped to a high standard providing a home from home in a peaceful location it is perfect for escaping city life and recharging your batteries. Full of traditional character with beams and a wood burning stove, the cottage is the perfect all year round destination. Bassenthwaite Farm Cottage can be rented together with Fell View Cottage to sleep up to 9 guests, both cottages share a garden.

The cottage has night storage heaters and wood burning stove to keep you warm and comprises: Porch surrounded by potted plants and a garden bench. Open plan lounge and kitchen with comfy sofa and armchair, TV and DVD player. Kitchen with electric oven and hob, fridge, freezer and microwave. Dining room. Double bedroom and first floor family bedroom with double and single bed and convenient wash basin. Bathroom with shower over bath, hand basin and WC.

All electric, coal, logs, bed linen and towels are provided. Private parking for 2 cars. Cot and highchair available. There is a bench surrounded by potted plants to the front of the cottage and shared use of a garden at the other side of the farm yard. Please note that whilst the cottage is all ground floor there are a number of steps to the bedrooms. Shared use of a washing machine and tumble dryer located in one of the outhouses.

Fantastic location, set in front of rolling hills on a working farm.
Accommodation was more than sufficient for 4 people + a dog.
Clean, tidy, well presented and great views.
Friendly owners too.
