Bowness on Windermere is popular with visitors to the Lake District and it is easy to see why, surrounded by scenic mountains just waiting for you to explore and on the shores of England’s largest lake, Windermere, with cruises and water sports available. Combine the natural surroundings with the numerous boutique and outdoor shops, art galleries, restaurants with cuisine from around the globe and traditional pubs serving local ales and delicious pub grub and you have the recipe for the perfect holiday. Bowness on Windermere is perfectly based to explore Ambleside, Grasmere, the Langdales, Coniston and Kendal, leave the car at home and explore the area by public transport or head further afield on the train.

Ellen Brow has it all, relax in the lounge with your favorite TV program, that is if you can tear your gaze away from the picture window and the view to Lake Windermere. On lazy summer evenings watch the sun set over the mountains from the balcony or relax in the garden whilst enjoying a glass of wine. The annex has a double bedroom and shower room which lends itself perfectly to families holidaying with grandparents who will appreciate their own privacy. The bungalow is tucked away in a quiet cul de sac, leave the car parked up and take the short 200 yard walk to the heart of the bustling village of Bowness where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants, attractions including the Beatrix Potter Exhibition or walk to the lake shore and take a lake cruise to Lakeside or Ambleside to explore a different part of the Lake District.

The bungalow is accessed by a few steps, then all on one level, has gas central heating and comprises: Lounge with picture window with view to Lake Windermere, Freeview TV, comfy leather sofas and a selection of books. Breakfast kitchen with electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer and microwave. Master bedroom with king size bed and views to Lake Windermere. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with corner bath, shower cubicle, hand basin and WC. Rear hallway leading to annex with double bedroom and shower room with hand basin and WC.

All gas, electric, bed linen and towels included. Cot available. Garage for 1 car and parking for 1 car . Patio garden with garden furniture and communal gardens leading to children’s play park.

Location and views are excellent

The location of Ellen Brow is unbelievably good. 1 minute walk to the main street and pub and the views are very good too. Very spacious and would accommodate 6 people quite easily. Plenty of parking on the property, 2 out front and 1 in the garage. Kitchen large and well equipped with everything you could possibly need and all the bedrooms are spacious. Issue with the main bedroom, you can't sit up in bed with a drink and enjoy the available views, because the cupboards behind the bed don't allow you to sit up. Lounge area spacious with spectacular view across the lake and hills. Didn't use the patio area out the back, there was no reason for us to use it, we were always out, but the lower area was slippy when damp, but the upper level did catch plenty of sun. Some of the decor is out dated and some is up to date. Some carpets could do with updating. Not comfortable with some cleaning issues, toothbrush beaker disgusting (did not use it), bathroom pull cords dirty and the freezer seal all moldy. We always give the touch points, kitchen and cutlery and plates / cups a clean anyway, so we know they're clean. Thats just our thing. Couldn't get my head around the plumbing in the main bathroom. basin taps were all back to front, unless this is standard Lakeland plumbing. the solution is instructions how to operate the hot tap. Although all the information is available in a folder, it is very mixed up and could be better presented. One or two improvements and this place could be really special.
