Castle Carrock nestles in the Cumbrian countryside east of Carlisle at the foot of the Pennines. The village itself has an award winning pub, The Duke of Cumberland, delicious home cooked meals and local ales can be enjoyed. The village is surrounded by rolling countryside, the beauty spots of Talkin Tarn and Castle Carrock reservoir are both close by. The market town of Brampton is a 10 minute drive with shops, bars and restaurants, or head to the County capital Carlisle for a night at the cinema, shopping at the Lanes or explore the historical Castle and Cathedral. If historical sites are of interest Hadrian’s Wall and Lanercost Priory are both within a short drive. The Lake District is just over an hours drive away as is Newcastle with its cosmopolitan night life and the Metro Centre at Gateshead for all your designer brand shops.

If you are looking for a break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life then Reservoir View is the perfect base from which to kick back, relax and simply unwind. Sitting in its own 48 acres of open countryside with stunning views to the Lakeland fells, Scottish Fells, Solway Firth and the reservoir, Reservoir View is 10 luxuriously appointed cottages and a luxury lodge, each with its own enclosed garden with hot tub, inside each has a wood burning stove for cosy evenings in front of the TV, a welcome pack of local produce awaits your arrival and guests have complimentary access to the Crown Hotels leisure club in Wetheral with gym and swimming pool.

I called and spoke to Tracey the day before we were due to arrive and was struck by how happy she sounded that we were coming despite never having met us which served to raise the excitement we already felt.
We were greeted on arrival and given lots of information on the lie of the land and places to eat and shop then entered the cosiest homely, cottage on a dreary day to find everything ready for a hot cuppa with a sweet treat. There were logs and kindling ready by the fire and fresh flowers on the table, we immediately felt so welcome!
We chose our rooms, unpacked everything finding homes for all our belongings then we changed into our swimwear as the hot tub was ready for use on arrival with towels, dressing gown and slippers available for each of us and we headed out at sunset to soak away any final cares we may have arrived with.
Then back indoors and we bundled ourselves into throws around the log fire as a perfect end end to our first day.
We were pleasantly surprised to find the beautifully scented soaps and showering products available for our use too.
The expansive views that changed as the sun moved through the sky along with the the movement of wildlife captivated us and despite having loose plans to do otherwise, we spent most of our days on the decking with our feet up (or in the tub) enjoying the sights and sounds. I can find no words to adequately describe the stunning sunrises and sunsets but every colour in the rainbow was seen in the sky - truly breath-taking.
A quick call to Tracey got the answer to any questions and I did seek her out on the last day to say thank you for all those wee touches that made it such a perfect stay. Tracey was always helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and available - just fabulous.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our time away and felt we left renewed and ready to return to our everyday lives with our load significantly lightened and a firm conviction that we would be returning here for our next break.
