Grasmere has a number of shops including gift, walking and convenience stores. Enjoy afternoon tea in one of the tea rooms or hotels, bar meal washed down with a local ale in the pubs or enjoy a delicious meal in one of the restaurants if you are celebrating something special. The Heaton Cooper gallery is located in Grasmere opposite the village green where ice creams can be purchased and eaten while taking in the view of Helm Crag (known locally as the ‘Lion and the Lamb’). Ambleside, Windermere and Keswick are all just a short drive making it an ideal base for exploring the Lake District

Old Bakers Cottage is a cosy characterful cottage tucked away just off the centre of Grasmere. It was once a bakery serving the village, but is now an ideal honeymoon cottage. Situated on the ground floor beneath Bakers Rest, the cottage is perfect for a family or couples looking for accommodation all on ground floor level.

Old Bakers Cottage is heated with electric radiators and comprises. Open plan lounge/dining room with comfy seating around the feature fireplace with stove effect fire, TV and Wi-Fi. The kitchen is fully equipped with electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge and microwave. The handy utility room has a washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer and coat and boot storage. Double bedroom with en-suite shower room. King size bedroom (which can be converted to twin beds upton request) with luxury en-suite bathroom with separate shower cubicle.

All electric, bed linen and towels provided. Courtyard with seating. There is one parking permit available. Cot available.

PLEASE NOTE: Dogs are not accepted at this property.

If you’re looking for a quiet relaxing lovely chocolate box picturesque place to stay in winter, this is the place for you.
Stunning views from the front door and comfortable home from home accommodation. Well appointed wonderful cottage and wouldn’t hesitate in booking again. I imagine in the other seasons that Grasmere is not so quiet but this suited us 100%. Although the delightful world renowned Sarah Nelson’s gingerbread shop is always well attended but definitely worth a visit. As is Wordsworth home & museum (we enjoyed a serendipitous one to one tour which probably is unlikely in the warmer months). The cottage is well placed for visiting surrounding areas and the parking permit is so convenient. The ease of booking and service from Cumbrian cottages was efficient and very helpful and we would highly recommend this cottage (especially and Christmas time).

What a fantastic review, thank you. You are 100% right, Grasmere in the winter months is an ideal time to visit, quiet enough to get into the attractions, pubs and restaurants without needing to book, but still has a 'buzz', especially over the festive period. We look forward to welcoming you back again in the future.

Fantastic holiday

This was our first time visiting Grasmere and I think we have found our new favourite place to stay. Being all ground floor, the cottage was ideal for us with my elderly parents. The cottage is well equipped and centrally located. We enjoyed wandering around the art galleries and shops and ventured into Ambleside, Windermere and Keswick all really easy to reach by car.
