This cottage in Pooley Bridge serves as an ideal retreat for a getaway in the Lake District. This charming 17th-century cottage, often described as a ‘chocolate box’ home, is rich in character and centrally located in the popular village on the northeastern shores of Lake Ullswater. With its exposed beams, a cosy wood burning stove, a sunny garden, and private parking, it perfectly suits couples seeking a romantic escape close to various attractions. The well-known bistro 1863 is just a 2 minute walk away, while shops, pubs, and cafes are within a 5 minute stroll.

The cottage boasts attractive curb appeal, featuring access through a picket gate leading to the garden. Inside, the inviting lounge exudes charm with its overhead beams, wood-burning stove, and comfortable seating arranged around the TV. Enjoy delightful meals at the dining table positioned by the window, where you can admire the breathtaking views while dining. Patio doors open to the rear garden, equipped with outdoor furniture, making it an ideal spot to savor the evening sun with a glass of wine. The kitchen is well equipped for preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner, featuring an electric oven and hob, fridge, microwave, and dishwasher.

Upstairs, the spacious bedroom offers a comfortable king-size bed and seating to enjoy views over the rooftops towards the fells. The bathroom includes a double shower cubicle, hand basin, and WC.

The cottage provides all essentials, including electricity, logs, bed linen, and towels. It also offers private parking for one vehicle and a garden with open views of the fells, along with a patio and seating area. Please note that the cottage is not suitable for infants.

A lovely cosy cottage in a nice village location with lots of amenities.

Another nice week in Blacksmiths Cottage, something we always look forward to. Most welcome this time was the good supply of wood for the log burner, which has been refurbished and now burns well. The ‘welcome pack’, which was supplied by one of the local shops, contained fresh bread and milk and locally made biscuits, flapjack etc. Looking forward to our next stay.

What a beautiful, cosy, peaceful cottage. Chocolate box gorgeous from the rose over the door to the lovely mix of old and new decor. The bottle of wine waiting for us was a thoughtful touch. We just didn’t want to leave and have already booked again.
