The cottage provided everything we needed for two elderly couples. The cotswolds are beautiful with good museums( eg Broadway and Chipping Campden), beautiful churches and Gloucester cathedral, excellent walks and the splendid National Arboretum. We were also lucky with the weather!!
We spent a lovely six days in Field Cottage and Garden Room with my wife's parents. The cottages were spotless and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Brilliant location for exploring the Cotswolds with fantastic walks from the door. Had a lovely meal at the Queen Elizabeth in the village within walking distance. Would recommend visiting the villages of Bibury, Lower and Upper Slaughter as well as the usual favourites of Stow on Wold and Moreton in Marsh. Would definitely recommend to others.
Excellent in every way. Good location. Pleasant local walks and nearby pub. Ideal sized property with good views and easy parking.
A perfect score in every way . Superb place to stay. Facilities well thought out to cater to your every need .Felt so at home we didn’t want to leave . Would have been happy if it had rained all week as it’s so cosy however the opposite hottest days ever ! that was a plus as the cottage kept lovely and cool . Great walks great location great place thanks to the owner for sharing so lucky
A truly remarkable property, we very much enjoyed the tranquility and our hosts’ generosity and warmth. We will be back!
A beautiful property, tastefully decorated and very clean. Checking in and out was easy. Easy to walk along the river to Stratford and to some local pubs. A secluded spot but building work has started behind the property so there was noise from machinery.
We had a lovely week in this beautiful cottage. The sun room is a great addition, with views out to the lovely garden. In a great location, it was easy to walk into Broadway, even for the older members of our party. There are also nice walks from the doorstep. We hope to be back next year! ps: A big thank you to the owner for returning our "lost property" so quickly.
Perfect cottage with beautiful garden. Very comfortable and very peaceful. Lots of great walks and good places to eat in the area.
I’m not sure that my husband and I fully appreciated the small size of the cottage. There was no room in the bedroom for our suitcases so in fact, I kept mine in the lounge. The narrow, spiral staircases were more challenging than we expected too. However, we had a wonderful stay and the cottage was warm, welcoming and extremely clean and comfortable. Thank you.
What a fantastic place. Luxury and just what dr. Ordered.nic and jenny overly.on booking prompt friendly helpful and nothing too much trouble. Will go back and also visit their other property too. Goid luck to them both in the future.
What was not to love! The cottage was incredibly peaceful, comfortable and cosy! Interior decor- lovely! Fantastic beds! We slept so well! Stunning little village setting; great general local shopping in Evesham- 10 mins away- and then the glorious Cotswold countryside/ villages/ towns-all spectular! The owner couldn’t do enough for us! So very helpful!
Lovely cottage with private parking , in a small village but well isolated from other housing around it, House was very well equipped with everything you require to create a fantastic holiday, the patio doors out to the small patio with table and chairs, to relax with a glass of something whilst viewing a variety of local wildlife across the paddock was used often! Definitely one to go back too!
We enjoyed our short break at Alysas, the locality, access to amenities, walking in the countryside was excellent. The cottage facilities were not lacking.
We had a wonderful week at Closes Farm Cottage. It is well equipped, clean and cosy - a real home from home for a week exploring all that the area has to offer. There is a small, very well maintained garden area with a table where you can watch the world go by. You are a short walk from the shops, cafes and pubs in Broadway and close to the wonderful children's play park.
We enjoyed our week in Gardeners Cottage. Comfortable, clean and beautifully presented, the cottage makes an excellent base for visiting Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon, and of course, the beautiful villages of the Cotswolds. The cottage has off-street parking for 3 cars and a large walled garden with quality garden furniture. A couple of tips, take pizza trays and a pizza cutter with you as they not provided in the otherwise well equipped kitchen. Shipton under Wychwood doesn’t have a supermarket, however we found a very well stocked Co-op in the next village, Milton under Wychwood. We wouldn’...more
We loved this house. The garden is a tranquil haven. Blessed with fabulous weather we spent most time watching the river and the life going by. The house was spotlessly clean and well equipped, with beautiful views from every window. We rented a narrow boat next door - so convenient and spent a glorious day on the river. Perfect weekend and highly recommended.
Hunter Court is such a beautiful space. It felt like home. We took our two new grandchildren and their parents, and we were able to be very comfortably together, but also alone when needed in the many beautiful spaces. Highly recommended.
We had 4 wonderful nights at Sherborne house in Chipping Campden. The home was fully equipped with all that we needed and more. The bed was extremely comfortable and the home was very quiet and peaceful. The position within the Cotswolds was perfect as Chipping Campden was central to where we wished to visit. The staff at Cotswolds Retreats were extremely helpful and assisted with issues associated with receiving Covid testing which was a condition at the time of our entry into UK from Australia. We feel they went beyond to help us. We would highly recommend Sherborne House and more import...more
We had a wonderful stay at Dyers Cottage. The accommodation was ideal, with good facilities and very comfortable beds. The rooms are bigger than I was expecting from the pictures, and although it is somewhat dark downstairs, due to the small cottage windows, upstairs is light and airy. Kitchen equipment is good, with sharp knives, decent pots and pans (both something of a rarity in my experience), cafetieres and everything you might need to make a meal. We loved the garden, and made full use of it to sit and enjoy the sunshine and the views across the field when we returned from day trip...more
The Glen is a chocolate box cottage in a lovely Cotswold village. It is incredibly peaceful and tranquil. The beds were super comfortable with pristine white bedding and the lounge was cosy and comfortable. We had a fabulous stay and most things were top-notch. There were a couple of things which we felt could’ve been better – the kitchen units were a little tired looking and Had been well used, so the drawers were quite clunky to open and close. We were unable to find a potato peeler or a key to fit the second of the double doors into the garden but Cotswold hideaways responded well when we ...more
It was everything we expected an fully met our needs. The location was ideal and the weather was very kind. My only criticism is we found the sofa very uncomfortable for watching tv, which was not that often.
As you see from the above excellent in every way except we found the welcome hamper disappointing and not up to the same useful standard, as our previous Rural Retreat properties.Your blurb suggested ,we would have enough to tide us over for a simple meal and we were expecting items like milk, eggs, bread, butter etc as we had previously. The hamper contained some usual interesting items but not useful for a meal.
Chapel House is in a quiet picturesque village. It was spacious and we were very comfortable there, provided with everything we needed. The house was an interesting conversion, with stained glass windows. We appreciated the convenience of the Co-op supermarket just a few yards away. A good base for exploring Oxfordshire villages and walking the Thames Path.
Lovely cottage, in small village. Cottage is very private, we had full sun all day everyday could not have been better
We had such a lovely welcome in the form of a home baked drizzle cake and wine! Very picturesque cottage but only 10 mins away from Moreton in the Marsh. We both felt very relaxed after staying a week.
We needed a 3 bedroom en-suite property for our visit to the Austin 7 Centenary - The Glen fully met our needs and expectations. Plenty of space for 5 adults, everything you could need. Very comfortable beds plus good bathrooms. The extensive gardens provided a beautiful, quiet locations for drinks and eating. Blockley was also the perfect location - great village shop with good food at The Cafe and the Gt Western Arms
The flat was small but well designed to make the most of the space and with an excellent bathroom. Extra space was provided by a glass covered extension at the front. Bournes green, although quite close to Stroud, which we visited for shopping was very quiet and secluded., set amongst lovely valley countryside. With good weather we were able to walk locally everyday and got the relaxing break that we needed. If the weather had not been so good there were places to visit not too far away. That was all complemented by Mrs Pye's friendly and helpful hospitality. We felt very mush 'at home'...more
Beautiful location and beautiful house! Lovely hosts, very friendly and respectful. Welcome pack on arrival. New Year’s Eve we went to walk the dog and found a lovely bottle of bubbly on the doorstep to bring the new year in with, lovely touch. Highly recommend.
Beautiful old building with lots of original features but with all the required mod-cons for a comfortable stay. We had 6 adults and two grandchildren with plenty of room to accommodate us all. Grounds and gardens were superb with tennis court, games room and gym. Easy driving to all places we needed to see, Stratford-on-Avon being the main attraction and Bourton-on-the-Water never loses it's charm so a lovely day was spent there.
We had a lovely stay at little shrublands, cottage was great, very clean and in a nice village and handy for local pub. The cottage was in a good location for visiting parts of the Cotswolds and beyond.
Fantastic could not fault anything the cottage was perfect in every way Very clean in all rooms excellent pub in the village and the shop was perfect
Stayed at Hope Cottage during Cheltenham Festival week. Every aspect of our stay was just about perfect. The cottage is located a short walk from Quenington on a quiet country road. It is very well equipped and laid out and well furnished. The owners have clearly gone to a great deal of trouble and I could easily have stayed longer and would happily pay a return visit. My only gripe is a minor one and relates to the "welcome package" of food items that waited our arrival. This comprised a 1 litre bottle of full fat milk and a large cake. Not particularly welcoming, not very imaginative ...more
We have been visiting the Cotswolds for 30 years and stayed in many cottages. Aople Cottage is definitely one of the best. Snowshill is a beautiful quiet village, well away from busy roads. Lots of walks directly from the door. Both bedrooms are spacious and have very good quality bedding We preferred the ground floor bedroom (actually raised ground floor) for the beautiful view. The living room is spacious with a huge fireplace and a large window overlooking the courtyard. The dining table also very nice. We prefer the North Cotswolds so the position of this cottage was ideal for us. It was ...more
Excellent accommodation set in beautiful surroundings . Lovely welcome pack. My only criticism is my husband is disabled needed a chair in shower down stairs and also some kind of shelf on the wall to hold toiletries in the shower and maybe a crab bar. We had a great stay visited lots of places and it helped because we had great weather.Would recommend this farm house to everybody it had everything you needed plus more. Owner was very friendly. Will go back again.
We chose Nellie's Barn because of its location, it is situated on a working farm and away from any town or village. Access to footpaths is available which will take you through some of the most stunning English countryside available. One of the main plus points is the quietness of the location, other than birdsong there is little to disturb you. Debbie our host was helpful without being intrusive and provided a lovely clean and well equipped cottage in which we spent a most wonderful week, the first three days of which we walked from the cottage to various locations and enjoyed all the ...more
Very relaxing and peaceful stay, wonderful location with amazing views from the garden Would definitely return to this property
Loved everything about this house. Comfortable lounge, great kitchen/diner with everything you could think of, 3 good sized bedrooms, 2 dbls & 1 twin. 2 bathrooms & downstairs loo. Pleasant garden. Good location. Removed 1 star due to 1 bed being too hard & the duvet being 13.5 tog, too hot for summer, so needed a top sheet. But would certainly recommend & return.
A lovely cottage very well equipped lots of extras including lovely hamper with essentials to start holiday with . The housekeeper was excellent and extremely helpful we will for sure be returning to this lovely cottage the pub and it’s food we’re excellent including the very helpful landlord .if I had only one slight niggle it was the shower could have been hotter but a small thing compared to the excellent facilities.
The Coach House and Stables at the Lammas is a lovely, spacious ,comfortable and fully equipped cottage in the Cotswolds. The only facility lacking was a downstairs loo! Otherwise perfect for a party of 8.
We had a great time at The Chestnuts. It’s very clean, well equipped and in a great location. The only criticism I would have is it’s very hard for everyone to sit comfortably together to watch the TV. I think it would be possible to get another smaller sofa in the main sitting room? The original staircase is an amazing feature. 3 out of 4 people I was travelling with struggled to get up and down them. A proper handrail would help and I think it should be mentioned in the details. Having made this honest comments we otherwise loved the house and had a very special time celebrating our birth...more
A beautiful cottage with all the necessary facilities in a wonderfully quiet location. Collecting the eggs in the morning was lovely.
As a family group of 7 adults and 2 dogs we couldn’t have wished for a better place to stay. Millstone Cottage is in good location and was a 5 minute walk in to the town centre. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you could need and unlike some holiday cottages we’ve stayed at it had more than enough seating for us all to sit in both the lounge and around the kitchen table comfortably. It had a really good selection of games and books to entertain. It was exceptionally clean. The bedrooms were all a good size with plenty of storage and hangers. There was a BBQ and again plenty of ...more
A lovely cottage right in the heart of Tetbury. Nice furnishings and well equipped. Enjoyed the log fire on the stormy nights. Few things for improvement - the house particulars before you book should provide more info on how difficult the parking access is. Missing handle on drawer in master bedroom gives impression of lack of love. Cutting corners with a cheap and nasty hairdryer and Tesco products in the hamper takes away some of the ‘wow’ you should get when you walk in which is a shame because there’s so much that’s good about the place.
Great location with lovely large garden, ideal for our dog. Only a few minutes walk to centre of Chipping Campden. On street parking awkward at times but would not stop me from returning to this property. Overall clean and spacious property
Very nice property immaculate, but our three nights stay was ruined by builders next door skip on road ,toilet on road building materials all over road dust everywhere couldn't park outside got knock on door 6.50am to move car for skip wagon rang to complain nothing you could do about builders Michelle said let's hope they've gone before other customers rent it out so it seems it didn't matter about our holiday ruined should have been notified work was commencing and given opportunity to cancel or move the builders explained the owner had been notified they was starting the project very disap...more
Beautiful location, for a very quiet and relaxing weekend, would never have known any one else was around.
Our first impression from the outside was very favourable . This cottage is in a beautiful village in a perfect location for visiting the well known surrounding villages such as Stow on the Wold, Bourton on the water, Broadway and Burford . We were a little disappointed with the inside. It is very small with limited storage . However, the owners, who live in the adjoining cottage, are very pleasant and helpful. They kindly stored our dog’s frozen food in their freezer for us. Much appreciated. They also left a welcome bowl of fruit and biscuits which we thought was kind and thoughtful. The lit...more
Character property very well equipped spotlessly clean, a real home from home. Would recommend the house without reservation
Quirky comfy stylish property, excellent location with parking. Stow is good town with plenty of quality food n drink options to try.
We really enjoyed our stay at Spring Cottage. It is beautifully located in Painswick and the directions were good. The welcome basket was generous and helped us settle in easily. Each room was attractive and well set up. A drying rack would have been helpful as would a washing machine although we appreciated having some done for us after a week.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage and within the lovely village. The cottage was perfect for us and for our dog - with the added benefit of the lovely secure garden. We had a slight issue with WiFi upon arrival but the office responded immediately and the problem was resolved. Great result and great customer service! This is a cottage we would definitely want to return to.
We had a fantastic stay for Christmas at The Bakery . The place was immaculately clean and the standard of the accommodation was excellent. We would recommend The Bakery and we plan to visit again soon
Generally, a nice property. Needs refurbishing/updating. Issues with hot water, weak water pressure. Lovely views Access too narrow
House was located in peaceful lane, lovely countryside views. It was very clean, very homely, we all wanted to stay longer. Garden was safe for the children. It does seem a lot of money but we had such a wonderful long weekend it was worth it and I would definitely book again
Had a lovely relaxing stay at Garsons Cottage for New Year. Welcome pack was most generous with some local goodies in. A big thanks to the owners and all at Rural Retreats.
Pear Tree Cottage was the perfect destination. Close to all of the Cotswolds in a small idyllic village. Everything you need is supplied and beautifully decorated to a luxurious standard. We enjoyed the outdoor bar and BBQ that was heated for a slightly chilly night, outdoor seating in multiple areas and a well equipped kitchen for cooking. The local Pub - Horse and Groom - around the corner also had great meals and atmosphere. Lots of rooms to be separate or together around the wonderful large table or in the study for work or TV room for a chill out. We recommend Pear Tree Cottage to a...more
A great time in a beautiful property, just right for us. We particularly appreciated the welcome hamper.
Lovely cottage, good location, lots of attention to detail with unexpected welcome pack - a very nice touch
Stunning Cotswold village. Full of character, with interesting local walks, a well stocked community shop next to a community run cafe serving light snacks, two pubs within walking distance, and a village hall. Excellent.
All OK except for the hard, wooden dining chairs which were very uncomfortable - took the cushions from the settee to sit on. Well located for many of the attractions around the area and Stow itself is a nice place - within a 5 minute walk of the cottage.
A throughly enjoyable stay.Settees in Watery Park Barn too deep. Outdoor seating fantastic. A wonderful Family gathering venue
We were really happy with the property, clean and perfect location for Stow etc. Plenty of space for the two of us and the dog. Property was warm and comfortable and there was plenty of firewood. Only minor criticism was that the bathroom was actually too warm, but it did mean towels were always try. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends and family.
We really enjoyed our stay at the lovely Coppice. A typical Cotswold house with lovely character. Comfy beds and lovely bathrooms. A few plumbing issues but these were raised with the owners who acted appropriately to try and fix them. Lovely roaring fires and beautiful surroundings for the perfect walks and pub lunches. Would recommend this lovely property to everyone. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
The cottage is very charming and, as others have said, the welcome pack was great. The location is good and although the parking is tight, we managed it adequately. The garden is lovely and very inspirational. We had a comfortable stay and would recommend to others.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and the accommodation was more than adequate for our needs. Our dog really enjoyed the stone floors in the warmer weather! There was an issue of a leak from the dishwasher but after contacting Cotswold Hideaways a maintenance guy attended shortly afterwards and sorted the problem for us. We would definitely recommend this property and would be happy to return in the future.
Great position both for exploring the Cotswolds and locally. The Wild Rabbit and Kingham Plough were excellent places to eat and within a short walk. The kitchen was well equipped.
This is such great accommodation in a beautiful area of the Cotswolds. The barn conversion is as described, and the check-in/out process was very straightforward. The house is well equiped with all we needed and there was a welcome bag with t-bags, coffee, milk, orange juice and biscuits. It is self catering, but given what we paid for the week, it surely wouldn't have been too much to include more than 3 toilet rolls to be left for a booking of 4 people! That's the first time in self catering that we'd come across this, as normally that's included. There's wonderful space outside to enjoy sitt...more
Great location on the edge of Chipping Norton, a small town with excellent pubs, coffee shops and antique vendors. Good for walking with an array of public footpaths. Easy access to the other main attractions in the Cotswolds.
Absolutely loved our stay at this lovely and quirky cottage. On arrival there was a lovely welcome hamper with yummy treats. Very impressed with the cleanliness, couldn't fault it at all. The garden was gorgeous, so many beautiful abundance of flowers. Living in a town it was such a pleasure to see all the birdlife, and we were fortunate to see so many different birds. Finally, The fox is most be visited, very friendly staff good food and drink.
Beautiful and spacious cottage in a very affluent and quiet location just down the road from the pretty market town of Stow. Cottage has all the amenities you need, surprisingly spacious for a cottage but with all the features you would want to see, especially the cosy living room with comfy sofa and log burning stove - the provision of wood logs was also greatly appreciated and a nice cake left for us on arrival which we appreciated. There is also a modern, clean and well stocked country kitchen with everything you need. All Bedrooms are a good size and beds lovely and comfy. The hous...more
Sheepscombe Byre is a very comfortable barn conversion close to the beautiful village of Snowshill. The village pub is within walking distance down a quite steep hill. The access lane to the property is a very narrow single track. The property has everything you need for a comfortable break in this part of the world. The barn is sited closer to the owners property than suggested on the photographs but this was not a problem as they not intrusive.
The directions said the coach house but actually it’s within a complex of houses called the old rectory. The house is beautiful with lovely furnishings and lots of style. The fire doesn’t draw well, they should get that looked at. Didn’t help that a dead crow had been blown down by a storm! Oven is a bit of a nightmare. Could be upgraded. The garden, the view, the shepherds hut is gorgeous. I’d love to go there for Christmas.
Jasmine cottage was the perfect Cotswolds home. The location is remote enough to feel like an escape but at the same time only a short drive to busier towns, and close enough to Burford to order a takeaway! The host provided a lovely hamper with local supplies, plenty of firewood for the wood burner and toiletries. We found everything we needed for our stay, including personal touches, the only thing missing was a tea towel for drying up or taking things out of the oven. We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend.
We are six couples who meet up every year and do a bit of walking. This was a perfect setting and location. There was ample space for the twelve of us and the barn was very well equipped. The utensils and crockery and cutlery were more than adequate for eating in and there was a good range of excellent pubs nearby for eating out.
A very relaxing stay in a most beutiful house situated in stunning Cotswolds countryside. The house was very conmfortable and quiet. It wss eell furnished and had everything ee needed for the weekend. I woul thoroughly recommend it
Lowfields was the perfect location for those seeking peace and quiet. Only took about 20 minutes to reach other places of interest, such as Burton on the Water, Upper and Lower Slaughter, Burford etc. Would certainly love to go back for another visit.
Very loud creaking floorboards were a big problem as if anyone went to toilet in middle of night or got up eearly to go downstairs it woke others sleeping up.
This cottage was booked fort a 60th Birthday with family and was perfect, we (parents) stayed in the Annexe which was great as seperate from kids (all in late 20s/30s) however, the bed in the annexe was too small for us so I slept on sofabed. Perfect location for Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water and also great for lakes, weather was perfect would definately go back. Thanks
The location is perfect for a family with two young boys and dogs. Unfortunately there are a number of things missing in the kitchen. Only the minimum number of mugs and glasses (plenty of wine glasses) two serving dishes and one saucepan - not ideal when catering for a group of eight. Also the TV in the lounge is very small.
We found the property very good and extremely well placed. The cleaner was extremely helpful. A few observations however. The equipment was complicated to use. The garage area was very dark and a little intimidating after dark. We could not get the broadband to work at all. In 2021 this is a little disappointing. Otherwise a lovely weekend in a lovely apartment.
