Safari Tent

Sleeps 6 + 2 if you wish to use the double sofa bed (Select sofa bed when booking) Hot tub hire can be arranged by guests with an outside company should they wish to add one at a surcharge.

Our custom designed Eco Lodges are spacious and fully furnished with excellent kitchens, comfortable bedrooms, a hot shower room and flushing toilet room. The bedrooms consist of a master double bedroom, bunk bed room (full size bunk beds suitable for adults) and a king cabin bed sleeping 6 people. 2 extra guest can stay on the double sofa bed (please indicate at booking). The open plan living and dining area includes a wood burning stove-cooker, dining room table and chairs and cosy sofas. The kitchen is equipped with utensils, cutlery, crockery and has a sink, fridge, toaster and kettle.

Lodge changeover days are Friday, Monday and Wednesday.

We are regular visitors to the IOW and have been to Tapnell on many occasions but this was our first stay. It won't be our last! It was a wonderful experience. Thanks to the whole team for making a grey October half-term break into a something special.

We have a wonderful time at Tapnell farm safari tents. I went with my husband, parents in law and daughter. We stay over half term and had the best time. We enjoyed BBQ’s and the pizza oven. The accommodation was amazing. We spent some time lounging in the accommodation. We all had comfortable night sleep and managed to stay warm. The WiFi was amazing. We will definitely be coming again.

We had a wonderful few days at Tapnell Farm, getting together with cousins in neighbouring safari tents. We loved the safari tent - very comfortable and spacious, well equipped etc. The beds were super comfy and cosy and we appreciated the electric blankets and extra blankets to snuggle up in! Having a fire pit that is safe for smaller kids to be around was fab, it meant everyone could enjoy roasting marshmallows once it got dark. There is plenty to do on site, ideal for families, and the well equipped shop also had take out coffee and pastries which helped us to get going every morning. Wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely be back!

We loved our visit to tapnell farm- the tent was so comfortable and cosy (including heated blankets in every bed!). We loved all the on-site activities at the farm and the aqua park. Burgers in the Cow were exceptional, and the coffee at the farm shop was excellent. It was a treat for every member of the family to stay here and we’d love to come again.

Thank you, we had a wonderful time with our family and friends, (including our furry friends) at Tent 2
The tent is big, clean, and wonderfully warm, with lovely touches like Heated blankets and hot water bottles.
The children loved the openness of the site, and the fresh eggs in the morning.
We used the pizza oven to make fresh pizzas which were delicious.
The kids enjoyed football golf and ax throwing :0)...
Would highly recommend, and would definitely come again.

Really impressed with all the facilities on site. The tent was fine but the only cooking possible was using the large wood fired range. It would have been great to have an electric hob too. Disappointed that our tent didn’t have a hot tub but both neighbouring tents did.

I really enjoyed staying at the safari tent. It really is a glamorous camping experience, even in chilly British weather. The views are fantastic and we made ample use of the inclusive farm park for the children, as well as all the different ways of using a fire. I only wish we would have been warned more about mosquitos, a bottle of old insect repellent which we had taken as a precaution was not enough to protect us completely. Bring the fresh strong stuff and perhaps also a plug in dispersant, as none was provided.

I truly cannot fault the accommodation at Tapnell! After a mishap with false advertising on a website and being quoted different prices, we were happy when we arrived to find literally EVERYTHING you need and more to make your stay perfect.

My only issue is that Tapnell farm is advertised by its staff to be a family place and one of tranquillity, being a group of 8 adults we were told (almost discouraged) that there were strict measures in place to enforce exactly this with a noise curfew from 11:00pm. After almost being put off due to wanting to celebrate a birthday away from the city, it is an understatement when I say we were shocked to have a group of 6 adults next to us partying from dusk till dawn with no consideration for others and no consequences enforced by the staff.

We definitely enjoyed our fair share of drinks, music, laughter etc but when you are kept awake from 1am — 9am by loud thumping techno, screaming voices, a woman yelling through your tent window and then further knocking at your tent door wanting to 'talk' it almost puts you off going back.

Now I'm all for this kind of festival vibe but when you're told it is a place of “tranquillity” you prep yourself for exactly that and not an all night party session.

The staff here either need to enforce the rules so adamantly stated in order to maintain the peace, or completely scratch them altogether and separate those who want tranquillity and those who want to party.

This is not a deterrence, so please do not take it as that! Merely a forewarning to those going for different reasons.

Loved our annual stay at Tapnell. It’s the kids favourite weekend of the year. Looking forward to 2022 return visit.
One suggestion would be to give free entry to the farm for guests, the tents are expensive so would be a nice idea to do this.

The team does a great job at Tapnell from the information prior to arrival and presentation of the tent!

If only all camping was like this...

The tent is prepared with everything you need and is well appointed. Small touches reinforce the fact that a lot of care and thought has been put into delivering a hassle-free stay and it works! The tents' location provides plenty of room for kids to play and behind them, the the pizza oven awaits those who want to try their hand - well worth it as the shop sells dough!

The whole family rested well on the comfy beds and the heaters provided took the edge off the summer night chills!

The farm has a lot of attractions from which we opted for the Aqua park and that delivered a lot of fun for the kids. Twice in the week we ate at the Cow and the burgers passed the highly refined taste test of our youngest - and I agree. Wagyu burgers are something else!

Well done to Team Tom for making our relatively short stay a thoroughly enjoyable one and thanks to everyone involved.

We loved all the new activities at Tapnell farm this year: the aqua park and axe throwing. We are always so impressed by how much you do to continually improve the farm. The new farm shop was a nice touch. The safari tent felt a little tired - one of the stove tops did not work - and the range of cooking equipment or serving bowls in the kitchen was much less than desired for a family of 5. My kids complained that they did not have a hot tub! We also had one night disrupted by very noisy guests staying in Tapnell manor.
The biggest disappointment for us was that the office completely failed to book our ferry crossings, and when we only realised this the day before, the new booking made by Tania was for sailings in the wrong directions! We did finally get on a Red Funnel to Cowes (not our first choice) but it meant a very late arrival in the tent on Day 1. It was a shame as this has never happened to us before.
We always recommend Tapnell farm to others and in fact you have 4 families booked this week that came through our recommendation!!

This was our second time at Tapnell having stayed in a Meadow Dome last year. This time we booked a safari tent and we all loved it. Very clean, spacious, everything provided and lovely views over fields of sheep and cows to the sea in the distance. We paid for a hot tub, which was installed on the small deck at the front of the tent. No probs at all, but worth trying to book tent one or five if you can as the hot tubs are included in the setup so you have more space.

Our son starts school in September, so this is the last time we'll be able to avoid the hugely inflated school holiday prices. Shame, as we'd dearly love to stay again.

Another wonderful stay at Toms Eco Lodge. We come every year and every year it does not disappoint! The tent was so homely and comfortable with a wood burning oven, heated beds, lots of space to move around and the elegant touches throughout. The children are always so happy to be here and the adults love it just as much. With fire pit, bbq, wood burning pizza oven and a shop on the farm, all your needs are met and expectations exceeded about this place. The views and farm itself has so much to do as well! A truly wonderful experience had by all!

Everything about this place was fantastic. The tent was beautifully furnished and really magical at night with the fire pit going and the fairy lights around the tent. Everyone was warm and cosy - we didn’t need the electric blankets or hot water bottles that were provided, just the stove. The owners have thought of everything. Another fantastic stay at Tom's eco lodges. I stayed for the first time 6 years ago with a group of friends and after such a great stay I decided to return but this time with my young family. The safari tents and the site itself are absolutely fantastic and suited both types of stays so well. The accommodation is comfortable, clean and inviting whilst also giving that great outdoors and camping experience (with the added bonus of warm showers, toilets and cooking facilities). There are so many lovely touches on the site, from the honesty stop, the outdoor pizza oven, the fire pits and the option of the hot tubs. Fantastic customer service from booking right through to check out. The site is also really close to the ferry and the local beaches and sites are just a few miles away,
highly recommend and will be returning!

We had another fantastic stay at Tapnell Farm. Always so welcomed by staff. The Safari Tent was beautifully presented and well kitted out and I particularly liked getting into a warm bed at night with the electric blanket on. We had a delicious meal at The Cow and lots of fun in the play barn and the new aqua park, which was a big hit. In future, it would be useful to be able to book our playbarn ticket for the weekend, in advance of our stay and perhaps be issued wrist bands or something similar?

We all had a great time in our very grand desert tent. This was our 2nd visit to Tom's Eco lodge...we came here 3 years ago with our 6 month old and 3 year old, when there were literally just the tents onsite. We couldn't believe how much it had changed, fantastic new restaurant, play barn for the children with softplay, arts & crafts and a cafe, hourly opportunities to feed/see the lambs, donkeys, pigs etc.

Chloe also organised yoga on the Saturday morning...which was fantastic

We really had a lovely and memorable time!

We absolutely loved our stay at Toms Eco lodge, the tent was very comfortable and everything you needed was provided down to the electric blankets were a welcome surprise! We loved the setting, the view was beautiful and the children were able to free range, just like the chickens who's eggs you could collect if you got there early enough! A great week

The eco lodge was a fantastic place to stay - felt like we were staying in a luxury cabin. Such a comfortable environment. The only downside was we were only there for a night and didn't get enough time to enjoy it!!

I would heartily recommend Tapnell farm to anyone who is considering visiting the Isle of Wight. The safari tents are amazingly appointed, with woodburning stoves, electric blankets, firepit and barbecues. Each tent has its own toilet and shower so there is no tramping to the toilet block in the middle of the night. Essentials like wood, charcoal, firelighters, cleaning cloths, matches etc etc are all provided for free, there was even a supply of cricket bats, balls, etc in the wood shed.

The staff manage to strike the difficult balance of laid back and attentive. They were very welcoming and gave us lots of local information and ideas for exploring the island. When we found ourselves without any flour to make pizzas for the pizza oven, the owner brought us a huge bucket of flour from his own kitchen to use.

The children loved the play barn and the bouncy pillow, we had to drag them out of it every day and they would have been content to play there all day long.

We have a 4 and 5 year old who cried when they left as they had such a fabulous time! The tents are really spacious and well equipped, a lot more comfortable and warm than we expected.
The farm has plenty of activities for children - our kids made lots of new friends and they all bonded over collecting the eggs from the chicken caravan in the mornings.
Beautiful location, great attention to detail from Tapnell Farm - text the day before to check arrival time to ensure our tent was ready on time, welcome basket etc.
We've already booked for next year :)

Really impressed with everything about Tom's Eco Lodge. High spec, good quality, beautiful location, well thought out, lots of space, amazing view and friendly and helpful staff. Felt like they could have crammed in more eco tents but instead there is a lovely sense of space. Perfect for the kids playing out and also a good cafe for coffee's and breakfasts (in our case) a stone's throw away. Highly recommend and we certainly hope to return next year.

We stayed for 4 nights with our boys aged 6 and 3. We all loved it - they were off collecting eggs first thing (admittedly woken by the cockerel at 6.30!) and playing with the other smilarly aged children in the other tents. The views are gorgeous and the tents are extremely well kitted out, with spare everything in a hut in the car park to be taken as needed. The play barn is great for rainy days, the restaurant easy for childen and they adored climbing the painted cows. Easy access to all the many toursit attractions and beaches on the IoW. A wonderful few days.

We booked ourselves and a group of close friends in to Tom's Eco Lodges for our wedding weekend. The lodges are set in the most spectacular position, looking out to the Solent and across the downs. Our lodge was exceptionally comfortable and well equipped. We loved waking up to the sound of cows mooing and cockerels crowing. The site itself is looking fantastic and offers so much for the family. Staying here is a really special and unique experience and I would highly recommend staying here to anyone. Our only regret is that we couldn't have stayed longer! I am sure that we will be back though!

This is an amazing place. We had three 12 year old boys with us who all had the time of their lives (without the Internet or electronic devices!) We all loved looking for fresh eggs in the chicken's caravan (!), using the pizza oven and lighting fires. The boys loved the giant inflatable pillow and the opportunity to generally run wild! We loved the views, the facilities and the comfort. This is definitely the hassle free way to camp!

The Eco lodge was excellent fun, it provided lots of space and home comforts for those that want to experience some of the delights of camping but with a bit of luxury.
We walked around the Tapnell trail and also eat at the new restaurant which were both worth doing.
The views are fantastic and certainly a very big positive.

We had a very good time in our tent, everything we needed was there, the children loved it. The honesty ladder was very useful too, and the kids enjoy getting some fresh eggs in the henhouse.
Tom and Kimmi were very flexible and lovely.

We have just returned from a fantastic weekend at Toms Eco Lodge. We stayed in lodge no 2 with our two children whilst our friends occupied lodge no 1 and we all had a brilliant time! We were met by Kimmi who was welcoming and informative. The whole weekend was brilliant. The children really enjoyed helping Farmer Joss and Farmer Ian to feed the sheep and milk the cows and although the hens didn't lay for us the children loved going in to feed them scraps and stroke them. We were blessed with glorious weather for October and the wood burning stove and electric blankets provided warmth in the evenings....we didn't feel cold once! My husband had great fun cooking pizza in the outdoor pizza oven whilst the children climbed trees and played with Baily the farm dog!

I would highly recommend Toms Eco Lodge to people but also wish it could be kept secret so that we can book it whenever we want!!!!! My four yer old daughter asked if we could live there forever and cried when we had to come home!!!

We are a family of 5 and travelled with our dog so Glamping was perfect. Everything in the tent was as good as we expected and the feel of a bit of a luxury adventure. Our kids loved it. The site was quiet and well run with very friendly approachable hosts.
