Safari Tent

Sleeps 6 + 2 if you wish to use the double sofa bed (Select sofa bed when booking) Hot tub hire can be arranged by guests with an outside company should they wish to add one at a surcharge.

Our custom designed Eco Lodges are spacious and fully furnished with excellent kitchens, comfortable bedrooms, a hot shower room and flushing toilet room. The bedrooms consist of a master double bedroom, bunk bed room (full size bunk beds suitable for adults) and a king cabin bed sleeping 6 people. 2 extra guest can stay on the double sofa bed (please indicate at booking). The open plan living and dining area includes a wood burning stove-cooker, dining room table and chairs and cosy sofas. The kitchen is equipped with utensils, cutlery, crockery and has a sink, fridge, toaster and kettle.

Lodge changeover days are Friday, Monday and Wednesday.

This is a lovely campsite with great facilities, view and location.
We were unlucky enough to be next to very noisy neighbours who stayed up partying all night. Sadly there was no recourse for the Tapnell Farm staff to quieten them and it did ruin our holiday a bit, especially the children who were very tired the next day. It would have been nice if we had been offered a refund for that night however it was not offered.
There was also a bit of a mouse problem...! One dead and smelly behind the refrigerator, and another that ate our loaf of bread!

We had an enjoyable stay but a few issues:

1. Cleanliness - there were spiders, cob webs in the lamps and dust all around. Aware it’s a tent and it’s in the midst of nature but if the check out time is at 10 am and check-in at 4 pm, I am sure a through clean can be done within those 6 hours.
2. Access to public - we had so many people come to us asking about the tents and general strangers moving around our site. Understand it’s tough to seclude or close access to public when the space is so spread out but we all had a sense of insecurity and general unease with so many non-staying folks hovering around our tents.
3. The young lady at the Farm shop - understand you are not a morning person but the rudeness shown when we walked in to buy some breakfast supplies was unbelievable. Very curt and generally bad mannered. And then we went for coffee and had a middle aged lady who was extremely polite and chatty. Maybe a few lessons can be learnt from your colleague.
4. Farm Shop - suggest opening the farm shop early if folks want pastries for breakfast. Also no fresh pastries as well. Everything was either frozen or packed in plastics. Was told no farm eggs at 9 am as well.

Accommodation was absolutely lovely really enjoyed your stay I’m not a camping fan but this was a really good experience we enjoyed sitting round the fire in the evening and appreciate the kettle make a cup of tea in the morning before you like the fire to cook ,
unfortunately we had a terrible experience at the bar restaurant staff Were so rude very aggressive zero customer service place in hospitality and it’s a shame because that left a bad taste .

We loved it here. The tents are wonderful in a beautiful, peaceful, spot. The farm park is excellent providing hours of fun for the children. The team were very responsive to any queries we had. Thoroughly recommended.

We had a lovely time at Tapnell Farm and hope to return in 2023. Food great, Aqua Park fantastic, Go-cart brilliant, Nikki in the shop really helpful - so too the people in the office. Great atmosphere.

This is our 2nd stay at Tapnell Farm. The first time we stayed in a Dome. This time we stayed in tent 3 And our friends in Tent 1. We loved the situation of the tents being so close to all the farm amenities and had the most beautiful views. We also hired a hot tub which was extra fun. The tent itself was fabulous, really well thought out and equipped. We made good use of the communal pizza oven, fire pit and visited the Aqua Park twice. I cannot fault the team on customer service who right from when we booked kept in touch and were always so helpful with any query. We were also thrilled to be able to access our tent early. All in all a fabulous stay. So much so that we have already booked Tent 2 for next July along with our friends who have booked Tent 1. Thank you Tapnell Farm

We had a fabulous stay at Tapnell Farm - now our 6th year. The accommodation and farm facilities are excellent as is their animal husbandry. It's great to see something new each year which is done so well and sympathetically with the landscape and nature.
For guests staying for a weekend or longer, a small point to raise in that I think it would be nice to have complimentary entry to the Farm Park but otherwise this is a true gem of a place and good value for money.

We had the best holiday week at Toms Eco lodges,the tents were very comfortable and had everything we needed.The WiFi we also great so happy teenagers! The shop was lovely and my youngest loved being able to visit the farm every single day, all the staff were so friendly and helpful.
The location was perfect with beautiful views and walks. I personally loved the Eco ethics from the Solar energy used down to the plastic free tea bags, environmentally friendly washing up liquid and being able to recycle all our waste properly was so refreshing.We will 100% be back again.

We loved our stay and were very impressed by all the thoughtful extra touches and level of comfort. We didn't use the facilities other than the well-stocked shop but wouldn't hesitate to bring grandchildren and recommend it to friends with kids of any age as there is clearly so much to do on site.

We had a wonderful time with our dog and 6 year old daughter. The park was fantastic, the tent was really fun and the environment was fantastic. We went to the beach, visited the Tapnell park, and did some cycling both in local trails (among the sheep and cows) and roads. We met other campers and enjoyed getting to know them and having our daughter play with their kids as well. My dog enjoyed the grassy area outside of the tents and was in cloud 9 the whole time. 100% will visit again.

We booked quite last minute due to coronavirus and having 3 holidays abroad cancelled a break was much needed. The booking process was easy and the communication was excellent from the team. A lovely touch was a call a few days before arrival and the text communication to say the tent was ready was great.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and we couldn’t fault the Safari Tent, it was warm and cosy and had everything we needed.
We ate twice in the Cow, again the staff were great and the food was good.
My only piece of feedback would be to direct everyone to use the main entrance and not the farm entrance, the lane is very bumpy and not great for cars.
Overall we had a good break and I have already recommended Tapnell Farm to friends and colleagues.
Thank you to all that made our stay lovely.

As a regular visitor to Tapnell, it continues to impress with the amazing facilities, accommodation and excellent customer care, that seems to progress each year. The facilities are fabulous for all the family and dogs and the relaxed nature allows for a really enjoyable stay. Highly recommend.

We wanted somewhere to stay for a special holiday with our children and grandchildren, and Tapnell farm did not disappoint. Each family loved their tents, and the space outside provided glorious views and space to run, play, talk, eat, relax...
The tents were really well equipped and we loved the wood-burning stove ( which cooked a fantastic casserole for one evening, and pancakes for breakfast...), the wonderful shower; the electric blankets that warm up the beds on chilly evenings, the beautifully folded towels, the lights on the balcony....so many thoughtful, finishing touches that made the tents look beautiful as well as meeting our needs. We used the pizza oven one afternoon - a great success. The children (aged 12, 10, 6, 6, 4 and 3) loved the farm park (and we adults enjoyed it too) and it was really helpful to be able to use the park throughout the week after paying only once, and to have some time when the general public were not there. Some days we didn't leave the site at all! We had a session at the water park too - it was great fun and very well supervised. The Honesty Shed is another lovely - and useful - provision, and we were initially attracted by the eco-ethos of the farm. All in all a great holiday.

Despite mixed weather we had another great stay at tapnell farm. The kids love everything about the farm and the staff are always friendly. The location is fabulous if you love west Wight as much as we do. We will be back next year when the water park opens!

Heating was an issue as there appeared to be a few holes in the corners of the tent so was very drafty. This was not evident in tents 1 and 2.
Can I suggest that you invest in some cot bedding? I was more than happy to use normal sheets etc however, she did not keep warm enough at all (despite using a few blankets too) so I had to attempt to put an electric blanket in her cot which felt vey unsafe as it was obviously too big! The problem with young babies and toddlers is that they kick their covers off!!

We were 2 families and decided to stay in one of their lodges which is a 8 man tent, stayed 3 nights and had a great time. The tent was very spacious and everyone had a comfortable bed. Amenities in the tent are of high standard. The tent also has a hot shower, separate WC, small kitchen with stove and a fridge!
If you are looking to go glamping and don't want to carry anything but your clothes, this is the place! Tom's Eco Lodge takes care of all your needs and offer ample supplies.
The restaurant on site offers a great breakfast and lunch menu. We didn’t have dinner but instead enjoyed our BBQ outside our tent and on one night made our own pizza in the stone oven behind our tent which was a first and went down a treat with the kids! They even supply the pizza dough ingredients which was a great touch!
The location of the farm is a 10min drive to Yarmouth for the ferry and only a 5 min drive to the local supermarket so you don't have to shop before arriving and can pop in to town for any supplies.
We took our bikes and kids were able to ride them on the farm and nearby bike trails.
As it is located on the farm there are chicken's, cows and sheep which the kids loved watching. Chickens lay fresh eggs every morning but you need to get there early to get some.
Nearby you can go biking, go to the beach or local funfair. Plenty to do for a long weekend.

We will definitely go back and recommend this to all levels of campers out there!

The lodges are so exciting!
Lovely communal areas both inside and out.
Lots of really nice details....bean bags, vase of flowers, welcome box.

The tent was comfy and the electric blankets were a wonderful touch especially at night as it did get chilly. It's a great place for children to explore. The chicken coup and new bouncy pillow was a huge success with our children.

Staying at Tom's eco lodge was a unique experience and the children were over joyed , they enjoy it to maximum, we even collected some fresh organic eggs. We loved making BBQ , watching the cows getting milked, the lambs , the trampoline , the view , everything .We definitely recommend it to everybody .
The man in charge with the farm is so nice , he sowed us around , explain us everything,the children played with his dog,such a nice man.

We really enjoyed staying at Toms Eco Lodge over the Easter holidays. The lodge had everything we needed, and sleeping with electric blankets was a real treat. Sitting at the dining table for breakfast was great, and the convenience of having a shower and toilet in your lodge was perfect.
It was a bit noisy through the night though, the cows get milked at 1am and tractors ride up and down, so we never had a peaceful nights sleep, which is a pity because all around you is beautiful open spaces, you'd think it'd be very quiet.
We stayed in Lodge 3, which was lovely, but you're better off booking Lodge 5, it has a hot tub and is situated right by the chickens, so if you want your little ones to find eggs in the morning that's the one to get. Unfortunately for us, Lodge 5 would take all the eggs before our little ones could get there. Perhaps Tom could put up a consideration notice.

The booking process was very easy, communication was great. On arrival Kimmi met us and was very helpful in getting us settled in, explaining all that was available and how to use the woodburner. We really enjoyed our stay, toasting marshmallows and making s'mores outside on the terrace and checking for hens eggs were the highlights of my childrens time there. The beds were comfortable and warm with the electric blankets. We will return hopefully but during the summer when it's a bit warmer!!!

We've just returned from a short break and we had a fantastic time. The beds were so comfy and snugly and they had thought of everything to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The lodge was extremely well equipped and thoughtfully decorated.
The children had a brilliant time exploring the farm- thanks to a tour around- my son wants to be a farmer now! The views were amazing from our lodge and we would definitely like to go back with our extended family to make use of the pizza oven and explore even more of the beautiful farm. Thank you.

Having booked with Featherdown Farms for the previous 6 years, this was without a doubt a much better tent and an upgrade on glamping. Will not be returning to Feathdown! Having the sheltered verandah to leave shoes, boots or outdoor toys is a big plus as well as the added storage facilities in the bedrooms. Thank you for allowing us to drive to the tent to unload before returning the empty car to the car park. The toilet is much nicer and user friendly rather than a dark hole in a cupboard. The only downside was there was no milk in the shop for us and we had to wait until the next morning to go out and buy plus it would have been nice for the farmer or manager to pop his head in at some point.

Isle of Wight was lovely, had a great 4 days - even surfed in the rain at the local surfing beach.

Will return to Tom Eco's Lodges again.
