Safari Tent

Sleeps 6 + 2 if you wish to use the double sofa bed (Select sofa bed when booking) Hot tub hire can be arranged by guests with an outside company should they wish to add one at a surcharge.

Our custom designed Eco Lodges are spacious and fully furnished with excellent kitchens, comfortable bedrooms, a hot shower room and flushing toilet room. The bedrooms consist of a master double bedroom, bunk bed room (full size bunk beds suitable for adults) and a king cabin bed sleeping 6 people. 2 extra guest can stay on the double sofa bed (please indicate at booking). The open plan living and dining area includes a wood burning stove-cooker, dining room table and chairs and cosy sofas. The kitchen is equipped with utensils, cutlery, crockery and has a sink, fridge, toaster and kettle.

Lodge changeover days are Friday, Monday and Wednesday.

We had a brilliant relaxing weekend with the family.
Something for everyone raning in age from 15 months to mid fifties.
Also the weather was great which always helps.

Wow, what can I say? This was my first time glamping and I was so spoiled by Tampnell! Our safari tent was outfitted so well, comfortable. Loved the fire supplies, ample wood and starters. The bathroom and loo were great. We were right across from the chooks which provided entertainment. Amazing setting, Tapnell Farm Park and Water Park were awesome - and don’t forget The Cow! We loved it, the IOW. We will be back!

This is truly a wonderful place to disconnect from tech and reconnect with family, lots of fun family memories. We had everything we needed it and it’s as close to camping as I personally want to get. The beds were super comfy and everything was clean.
My one build was to include access to the farm in the cost, although once paid you can go in and out as often as you like. We loved the aqua park, zorbing and in general all the activities available. Thanks for a memorable family break : )

Perfect for glamping! Comfortable necessities to make you feel comfortable- especially with the hot shower and private toilet! The children loved it as they got the camping experience while the adults got the added extra comfort! We particularly enjoyed the private fire pit outside the tent. It was also great that charcoal, wood logs etc was provided. All in all a great experience.

We had a wonderful stay in a Safari tent at Tapnell Farm with our children and grandchildren to celebrate a.big family birthday. Everything had been thought of in terms of comfort and equipment. The children loved the huge outdoor bean bag and toasting marshmallows in the fire pit. It was a beautiful and peaceful environment. Any queries were dealt with very promptly and we enjoyed all the facilities at Tapnell Farm, ending our break with a great meal in the Cow.

Such a lovely little holiday with our 3 boys (2,4,7) and our dog! The kids loved waking up and seeing the chickens and the fire pit was also a highlight. All the fun of camping with some welcome comforts.

The location of Tapnell Farm / Tom's Eco Lodges is fantastic - so many things to visit within such a short distance. We loved Yarmouth, Mottistone (NT place), Fort Victoria, Colwell Bay to name a few. We also enjoyed the on-site footgolf. Unfortunately the aquapark wasn't open which was a shame but it looked great. We also tried the onsite restaurant which we and especially our teenagers really enjoyed - truly delicious burgers and milkshakes! The Tapnell trail walk was also good.

The accommodation was overall a really pleasant surprise. Being able to have a camping experience but with heaters, plug sockets, own toilet / shower and plenty of space, relatively, was fantastic. The beds were comfortable. Storage was better than I'd expected with a bench in one bedroom, shelves in the other, hooks, hangers etc. and a great space under the bed in the living area. We also loved the outdoor space and sat round the firepit each night, had a couple of BBQs etc. It was also all very clean when we arrived which was great. The kitchen contents were also great and we had everything we needed there.

The only thing that let it down for us was a bit of attention to detail. Our intro info said there would be matches and while we had all the other supplies such as charcoal, firelighters, wood, not having any matches was a bit of a miss. We looked at the tablet in the tent and it told us to use the chat function if we needed help after the office closed which we did but never got a reply. Fortunately we found some other guests sitting outside who lent us their matches. On a short trip though it would have been a shame to miss an evening of firepit, bbq, stove etc. We also had the only tent without any outside deckchairs and there were none available in the communal store - again it was ok because we just carried out the dining furniture but would have been nice not to have to. This was rectified on day 2 after we raised it. There's also a bit of inconsistency in info, the email we received said checkout at 10am, the tablet in the tent said checkout at 9:30am. The website said each tent has "plenty of board games" but it didn't. There were a few others too- just feels like all the info could do with a bit of crosscheck. That said, none of this would put us off visiting or recommending, we'd just advise taking matches and checking what the tent has as soon as arriving to resolve anything missing while the office is still open!

I stay here every year for a reason, it's perfect, the setting, the accommodation, the sea views. I bring my three year old and she gets to run riot and I get to relax. It's a really special place.

We were so lucky to get a last minute booking. Chloe and the team are brilliant!

We really enjoyed our stay in the safari tent!

The tent was very clean,giving us no concern holidaying during the C-19 pandemic. Communication was handled virtually but was still helpful, friendly and informative, the right approach for current times!

The tents were well equipped and the log burner proved much needed during our stay.

Location of the tents opposite the chickens and farm park were lovely and the farm overall made for easy access to other locations we wanted to visit.

We would have loved to enjoy the outside space, fire pit and bbq more but alas the British weather had other ideas! Absolutely nothing could resolve this but the tents are a little noisy when a storm hits so be prepared if you know poor weather is forecast.

We’re certainly considering a return trip in the summer to enjoy the lovely location more.

We where lucky to be able to get the fire going and drink a bottle of wine as the sun cone down every evening

We stayed in a safari tent for a week, 2 adults and 3 kids. There’s plenty of space, the beds are comfortable, and the scenery is fantastic. There’s a fire for every occasion - wood-burning stove, bbq, fire-pit, and pizza oven. Tapnell Farm Park is great for kids and Compton Bay is a really nice beach a short drive away. The staff are very helpful. Will definitely go back.

We had a fantastic holiday in a Safari Tent mid August. The tent was welcoming and had loads of home comforts but most importantly in the current climate it was spotlessly clean with additional cleaning facilities available. The children loved the fire pit for smores, waking up with the sun and hunting the Honesty Shop for eggs. The grown-ups loved sitting on the veranda watching the sun set! Bliss. We have already booked again for 2021.

We travelled with four adults and a toddler and all of us had an amazing time at tapnell. There is so much to do that you'd never need to leave the site with its gorgeous views and well equipped tents. Little touches like the honesty shed and free bags of ice/charcoal/logs/cookies weren't necessarily noticed until we realised how much of a difference they made. The weather was perfect so we did spend a lot of time on site making pizzas, barbeques and log fires and letting the little monkey hang out with the chickens (all the kids on site LOVED this). We had no problems at all while we were there but staff were on hand if needed. I'd highly recommend tapnell tents for families, I know we are desperate to get back and despite having family on the island we could stay with for free, I think we'd still much prefer to pay for a tent again. Thanks for a lovely holiday.

We had a 30th Birthday party - 4 girls - had a fab time - drank champagne, made pizza - toasted marshamallows .... all fabulous - helped along with the great weather - fab views and brilliant honesty shop for all those extras!!

I've stayed here before and this time was even better, from gathering your own eggs in the morning and cooking them on the wood burning stove to sitting by the fire outside watching the sun go down toasting marshmallows! The Safari Tents have everything you need for a great stay - perfect to get away as a couple or as a larger group taking a number of the tents. Some even have hot tubs which looked amazing as well.
Can't wait to go back and so pleased this is on our doorstep!!

Fabulous break away. Wonderful location for the safari tents and great views. Whole of the farm very welcoming. Every staff member that we met were more than happy to help out.
Lovely restaurant on site. Recommend the burgers fully.
Lamb feeding in the evening was a favourite of the children as was collecting fresh eggs in the morning for breakfast.

Excellent location, great ideas, I'll definitely be back! We had a few issues with the cleanliness of the main area and kitchen but it didn't take long to sort so that we were happy. There were a few things that were broken but in fairness to the staff, if they aren't told by previous guests what is broken, they don't have much opportunity to fix it. The kitchen lacked decent pots and pans - thankfully we weren't trying to cook for 8, so we got by.

We had an excellent time staying in one of the Eco Lodges, so much so that we have booked again next year to try one of the new cabins. Staff were exceptionally helpful at all times and very approachable and friendly, accommodating our needs where possible. Minor issues with the tent but didn't detract from our stay, did mention it at the time but think they were incredibly busy so didn't get around to fixing the minor issues during our stay, but we weren't that bothered (hose issue with shower, cracked cooker tile and one saucepan with peeling bottom so couldn't use it - only a minor issue as we had a 2 year old and worried about her feet near the tile and couldn't take the shower hose off to make the experience more pleasant for her, didn't bother the adults).

Kids loved the play barn, food and service in the restaurant were excellent, along with the facilities. Best part for them was the chickens, collecting the eggs and seeing the milking of the cows.

Would thoroughly recommend to anyone. Isle of Wight also has lots to offer so looking forward to returning next year to explore a bit more (haven't been since my primary school days).

Thank you to both Toms, Chloe and the lovely cleaning team for making it such an enjoyable experience, glamping at its best (and that's coming from someone who doesn't and won't do camping!!).

We had a great time at Tapnell farm. The setting is beautiful, the tent was lovely (especially the heated mattresses!) and the outside space is great for the kids. You are close enough to your neighbours to mix, but reasonably well spaced for you to have privacy too. The site activities are great. The kids had a wonderful trip round the dairy farm and loved the bouncy pillow and play barn. We loved The Cow Shed for a coffee, breakfast or spot of lunch. Tom was great and attentive to our needs. We didn't get any eggs from the chickens so some more egg laying ones might be good for next time (the kids must have checked a million times so lots of disappointed faces) though it's great to see that they are rescued and living a great life at Tapnell farm! We will definitely be back.

lovely place to be with kids.
They loved the play-barn , the fireplaces and... the henhouse :).
The Tom's welcome their guests and make sure everybody feels at home and comfortably.

Loved the tent
The shower was broken, but a quick response meant it was temporarily fixed.
There were no matches or firelighters in the tent to light the range
The shower didn't drain so the tray was flooded
We were very comfortable (apart from issues noted above)
I sent an email regards a phone charger that was left behind, I'm still awaiting a response after a week.
We were not allowed to order breakfast at at the restaurant 2 mins after the time allocated for breakfast, we understood this completely, however some toast and jam would have been appreciated.
Overall - great time and loved the site

Tapnell farm provided us with a wonderful break in every way. The views are stunning, people friendly and tents quite luxurious. Everything has been well thought through from the welcome pack to the electric blankets, I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone, particularly if you are unsure of camping, a great experience.

After 3 days spent on Tapnel Farm I feel as if we are now firing on all cylinders - thanks to the fresh eggs, local cider, walks along the coastal path and a volleyball tournament! Thank you Tom and Kimmi for a wonderful stay

Amazing place. Would highly recommend. The place was clean, everything is provided. Lots of wood to start a fire of have a BBQ. There's an activity centre right down the road too!

We stayed as a group of 11 for my sisters hen do, we had the most fantastic stay. The lodges are exactly what we wanted and we were made to feel incredibly welcome. I would definitely love to return to Tapnell and would not hesitate to recommend to friends. A particular highlight was out tour of the farm with Tom, a lovely personalised touch. Thank you to all at Tapnell for helping to make my little sisters Hen so memorable.
