Safari Tent with private log burning tub

Sleeps 6 + 2 if you wish to use the double sofa bed (Select sofa bed when booking)

Our custom designed Eco Lodges are spacious and fully furnished with excellent kitchens, comfortable bedrooms, a hot shower room and flushing toilet room. The bedrooms consist of a master double bedroom, bunk bed room (full size bunk beds suitable for adults) and a king cabin bed sleeping 6 people. 2 extra guest can stay on the double sofa bed (please indicate at booking). The open plan living and dining area includes a wood burning stove-cooker, dining room table and chairs and cosy sofas. The kitchen is equipped with utensils, cutlery, crockery and has a sink, fridge, toaster and kettle.

Lodge changeover days are Friday, Monday and Wednesday.

My pal and I took our 6 year old daughters away for an outdoors adventure to enjoy the pumpkin festival at Tapnell farm and decided to treat ourselves to stay there too. It was the bet decision we've made as the memories made throughout the whole trip was priceless! The tent was gorgeously set up, so clean, organised and accommodating - comfy cosy beds, super clean hot shower, fantastic hot tub and fire pit, loads of space indoors and out and plenty of amenities! The forest, the gardens, the views, the chickens, the open areas were all a dream for both us and the kids to enjoy playing and exploring! The set up is perfect for bigger groups along with just a couple, the farm is right there to be enjoyed too and if driving or cycling is Ur travel then it's a perfect place on the Island. Honestly couldn't have rated it more, none of us wanted to leave and can't wait to go back whether to stay in the tent or in one of the other accommodations the farm has to offer!



A lovely place to stay- we would definitely recommend it.

We absolutely loved the safari tent. Incredibly comfortable despite high winds and plenty of rain. Lots of good quality bedding and pillows. We enjoyed working out how to manage the wood burning hot tub and keep the fire going. Lots of small attention to details we really enjoyed. If I was going to make the teeniest of criticisms, they could do with a whole load more coat hooks. Then again, we are a family of 6 so maybe we need more than most! We hope to come back again one day.

Lovely time at the safari tent at Tapnell farm. The double bed was the only thing that let it down. sagged in the middle. Apart from that it was a great break and everything in the tent is cosy and clean.

We loved our stay here, we are returning customers over many years. We had a fantastic time. Chloe and her team are excellent. Beautiful surroundings, wonderfully comfortable tent. Only thing to note is we were disappointed with the hot tub, we arrived and it was empty and so we had to fill it ourselves, this took ages to heat/fill and the children were disappointed. Also no lights or jacuzzi (no waves or movement) this was really disappointing, who wants a ‘still’ hot tub?

Secondly, the prices to get into the farm are extortionate now (£60+ for the 4 of us) this we felt should absolutely have been free given the price you pay to stay on the farm.

Otherwise a fantastic wonderful, idyllic stay as always thank you x

We had the most phenomenal stay at Tapnell. The facilities are amazing and the Safari Tent is brilliantly designed and manages to feel luxurious and adventurous at the same time. The staff are friendly and attentive. Definitely coming back.

This is our 5th time staying here, our children absolutely adore it and when we ask them where they want to go and they can choose anywhere in the World, they always choose here! It’s our special place where we can forget the stresses of everyday life and unite as a family. The Safari tents are always lovely and clean, we love that there is your own toilet and shower, the electric blankets are so cosy and the biggest hit is the fire pit every night and toasting marshmallows. The farm park is amazing, we go every day while we stay and The Cow restaurant has the best kids burgers! We will definitely be back.

Glamping at it’s best! Roomy well equipped safari tent for four friends with 2 dogs. Pay the extra to have a hot tub. It’s the best way to enjoy the spectacular sunsets with a glass of something cold in hand, you’ll love it. We stayed warm and dry on days and nights of heavy rain (electric blankets and heaters) and cool inside the tent on the hot sunny days (good ventilation and a huge canopy shading the whole tent). Excellent location for exploring locally (the Tapnell Trail is a beautiful well signposted walk around the surrounding farmland) and for across the island. Yarmouth is a short drive away, and the beaches are even nearer (some dog friendly, sandy and with dinosaur footprint rocks!). Delicious food at the Wrap Shack on site (next to the Cow Restaurant) is a must, with picnic table seating on grass alongside the quirky beautifully decorated herd of plastic cows (a nod to the farm’s original dairy business in case you were wondering) and there’s the well stocked farm’s shop which has a great range of foods (fresh ingredients and the Charlie Bigham’s instant meals if you don’t feel like cooking) for all the day’s meals, plus great coffee, and the eggs from the free range hens that live opposite tent 5. If you’re a light sleeper and don’t want to be woken early by the one small cockerel crowing at daybreak then opt for tents 1-4 as he’s not that loud!! We weren’t bothered by it at all. There’s loads of fun activities around the farm to entertain the big kid in you or your own kids, but the accommodation is peaceful with great views and space to relax and unwind. The helpful office staff are on hand to sort out any problems or suggest where to go if you need recommendations. This was our fifth summer stay and we’ve booked for next year already. Can’t wait to go back.

We had a fantastic stay in the Safari Tent at Tapnell Farm. When we arrived the tent was warm, welcoming, and beautifully furnished in a country/shabby chic style. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was superbly equipped. The log fired hot tub was a real added treat, as was the wood fired stove in the kitchen. The breakfast hamper full of local Isle of Wight produce was worth every penny—highly recommended for the best Full English you'll get!

Highly recommended for families, groups of friends, and anyone wanting to escape to the peaceful countryside of the Isle of Wight.

If you want to 'camp' in comfort this is a good place to do so. The tents are well spaced, well stocked and comfortable. Extras like BBQ coals, free wood for the stove and fire pit, matches, etc and the colourful wheelbarrows to transport your luggage from car park to tent are a mark of the thought that goes into running Tapnell Farm and also Tom's eco lodges. The on site Farm Shop makes life easy and The Cow is a relaxed and welcoming pub/ restaurant.

We booked this last minute getaway as after having spent so much time at home during the pandemic we wanted and needed a break. I randomly found Tapnell Farm online and I’m so pleased I did. You could spend 5 days here and not have to leave if you didn’t want to. They have everything onsite, all suited for children which is perfect. We did venture out and about during our stay at our own leisure. The beds are short, me and my husband are tall but we made it work. The fire pits are great, we used the hot tub a few times and BBQed too. Would 100% recommend for families.

We had the most amazing time at Tapnell Farm. Safari tent was very comfortable. Stove and the electric blankets kept us super warm. If you fancy camping trip without carrying the world with you we highly recommend this place.They have a lovely farm shop. They sell everything you need. My 7 year old son and I had a blast at the aqua park. Go carts, animals, miniature golf, indoor soft play, giant sandpit… There is something for everyone. All I need is a spa break so I can recover:)

Second stay at Tapnell farm met all expectations! Great range of activities for ages of children (husband included), whilst also offering tranquility when needed. Really covid safety minded and didn’t see a member of staff not smiling and happy to help. We Will return when kids are older to tackle the Aqua park and the new fun activities that I’m sure will be added in the coming year or two! Thanks to all the staff at Tapnell Farm. We’ll be back! Great experience from start to finish. Good website made it easy to book & was able to speak to staff on phone with any queries. We received a free upgrade from a dome to a safari tent (with It’s own shower & toilet) which we really appreciated as the weather wasn’t great. The tent was amazing and everything was in there that you could possibly need - especially during COVID. The honesty shed was well stocked & such a good idea. Thank you Tapnell, we will be back !!

We loved our time at Tom’s Eco lodge. It was our first time glamping and it was amazing. Everything was set up really well and the electric blankets were so appreciated during the cooler weather we had at the beginning of the week. Everything felt very clean and we were able to really relax. The children loved it too!

The only feedback I have (which is testament to how brilliant everything was!) is that the dustpan and brush don’t really work as the dustpan part doesn’t lie flat so it’s hard to sweep into.

We were sad to leave and will definitely be back!

Check in was simple - everything you could possibly need. The tent is bigger than you imagine - check the inventory - but all the extra comforts are there - everything thought of.
If I had to state a negative the fridge was off when we arrived and the welcome milk had gone off. The honesty shop is well stocked so no probs to grab some more.
All in all perfect and very comfy bed and pillow. Well done Tapnell - we shall be back

The tent was amazing.. and it was all the little extras that made our stay so special, heated mattress covers and a very well equipped kitchen.. the fact we didn't have to pay for our logs and t bags.. just made it really nice because we didn't feel like we were being ripped off left, right and center..
only a few points:
We didn't have any big chairs to sit on outside like the other tents did..

The master double bed was very uncomfortable and sagged in the middle, we slept in the cabin which was lovely!

And as I've mentioned, the Tap and Ale festival was extremely noisy, the base was very heavy.. and people congregated outside the back of tent 5 smoking and talking for ages till at least 1.30am.. It really did ruin my Sunday as I couldn't sleep and my kids are always up so early and I was exhausted.. when you pay nearly £200 a night you don't expect it.
never the less we are thinking about booking for next year and bringing friends...

So many reviewers have said it before, but I'll say it again - this place is AMAZING!! It's magical. Visited in May half term with a friend and our two 5 year old boys - mine now wants to live there :D. This is glamping with knobs on - and bells... thick soft white towels, electric blankets, lovely warm duvets, blankets, games, camp fire, plenty of hot running water, flushing loo, fab wood burning stove and plenty of space. The weather was a bit cold and windy when we were there but that sort of added to the charm. The Honesty Shed is well stocked and a lovely touch. The whole atmosphere is communal and helpful which is absolutely lovely. We will definitely be back. My son will never forget the excitement of rushing to the chicken coop in the morning to collect eggs from the lovely chickens. I was a fast learner on the stove and pizza oven and now want to build my own... Thank you everyone at Tapnell for a truly memorable stay - we loved it!

Each of us loved Tom's Eco Lodge so much that we never wanted to leave! Comfortable and clean safari tent, plenty of info given before our arrival, and a beautiful spot to relax and unwind in.. Would highly recommend . Great facilities, slightly challenged cooking on stoves as don't get very hot and need consent feeding of logs. Shame could not keep the stove going low overnight as cold in mornings despite other hearing. Hot tubs great idea but again need a lot of fiddling to get up to heat for use and if only there for weekend get limited use out of them.

We spent a Great late autumn weekend at Tapnell Farm in one of their state of the art safari tents. Hot showers, an indoor loo, comfy beds, and a wood burning stove (with an endless supply of logs) made this a superior camping experience. The well stocked "honesty shed" meant we never had to worry about running out of essentials. We enjoyed an excellent meal out at Cow & Co (onsite) and the playbarn was a hit with the kids. Collecting (and eating) daily fresh eggs from the chooks opposite our tent provided hours of entertainment for the younger ones and everyone made use of the piping hot tub. We also walked the Tapnell Trail which was well worth the climb for the stunning island views at the top of the ridge. We were impressed with the quality of accommodation and facilities and overall attention to detail at this gem of a campsite.

A group of 8 of us stayed in one of the safari tents and enjoyed our whole weekend, didn't want to leave!! A nice touch having to collect own wood and firing up our fire or barbecue each day, also collecting our own free range eggs but still with those creature comforts of a bed and plug socket, running water etc. On site farm shop selling the tastiest farm food plus other island foods really handy to have and the Cow Co restaurant newly opened and should do really well...on top of that really friendly easy going staff who couldn't do enough to help us...definitely returning with family next year!! :-D

We stayed at lodge 5 (2 adults,3teens) for a 4 night break.The lodge was beautiful,all you need,comfy beds with heated blankets,separate loo and lovely shower.We had the hot tub too ,which once up and running was enjoyed by all,beautiful views across the countryside, stunning sunrise and sunsets,with the hens on our doorstep,(we found a few eggs).
The only things we would suggest would be to have had the hot tub ready for our arrival as it took a long time to prepare.And a few more activities on site for teens.The play barn is great for up to 12 age group.We bought a cricket set ,as the space outside the lodge was great for outdoor games.
The welcome guide was very helpful,with instructions on how to use the log burning stove,and menus for the restaurant (Also a few courtesy rules,which I think a few guests chose to overlook,sadly,on the last evening were up late ,drinking and being loud til the early hours)The shop has a lovely selection of produce from the Garlic Farm.
Will definitely be recommending to others.A lovely much needed break away from everything.

Hi - we very much enjoyed our few days in No 5 (13-17th July).

Small problems were sorted out straight away ie no curtain in toilet & broken lock on door.

Very small gripes would include

We thought there was going to be a welcome package as we read this somewhere in the literature - not a bit issue but kids were hoping to find a box of biscuits or something!

Cockerels waking us at around 5am did become an issue as it meant extremely tired and grumpy kids after 3 days. Not sure what can be done about this but it was a shame that we didn't come home feeling rested! Perhaps it is just a problem with no 5 being so close to the chickens.

Lovely countryside - enjoyed the pizza oven & croquet very much.

We are just back from a brilliant few days away staying at Toms Eco lodge. We went with another family and everyone had a great time, the big boys (daddies) liked lighting campfires, the kids loved the jumping pillow and egg collecting and the mummies liked pimms in the sun. Fab Cow co restaurant serving delicious food and coffee. Well done to the Tapnell team, a perfect break on the Isle of Wight, thank you! See you next year!!

We have just got back from a weekend away staying at tapnell farm. 6 adults stay in the lodge with plenty of space. It was clean & tidy with no issues at all.. We had to have a men's night & girls night in the hot top...the men had to go first !! It was just perfect..waking up in the morning to fresh eggs...nothing was to much trouble . We stayed in Lodge 5 last year and were amazed how much they have done to the whole place since we last stayed.

Lodge 5 (and 1 for that matter) now has a wood fired hot tub that is great and much better than the plastic one we hired from a 3rd party last year. Fill it with water (easy just flick a switch), light a fire, wait a few hours and then sit in the tub and watch the sun set. It does not get much better that that!

They also have a bouncy air filled pillow that is big enough for many adults to play on together that really has to be seen to be believed. A lot of fun was had by both adults and children :-)

They are just about to open a farm shop and restaurant. It was not open during our stay so cannot review that but I can only imagine that it will have the same attention to detail and quality as everything else at Tom's echo lodge.

Its truly an amazing family holiday that I cannot recommend highly enough!

Amazing.
Fab views, fab lodges. Hot tub great fun.
Really relaxing environment, so peaceful.
We enjoyed the back to basics with lighting the fires and collecting fresh eggs.
Want to go back....

Really really enjoyed our stay. The lodge had everything we needed and the electric blanket was a lovely and welcome surprise. Location and views superb. The whole family enjoyed the hot tub. We only live on the other side of the island but would definitely come again for a hol.

A lovely place to stay, accommodation just as described. beautiful spot, lovely views. Peaceful, great for small children, and adults alike. .

What a wonderful place to stay with the family. The children experienced farm life and enjoyed collecting the eggs every morning for breakfast. We hired a hot tub which was the best idea and we all spent lots of time looking at the stars and splashing around, even when it was raining. All the farmers were very friendly and welcoming, even with 400 cows to milk twice a day !! Even though we're from the Island, it felt like a real holiday.

'Tom' was helpful, friendly and welcoming.
The farm is restful, peaceful and full of interest, perfect for my 'special' birthday. Fresh farm eggs + the 'Larder' give this a real country and homely feel.
Cosy and comfortable, my 'anti-camping' husband was a fan and loved the wood burning range and wanted to stay in and cook, amazing!
Will come again.

I organised a small gathering for friends for my sister's hen do at Tom's Eco Lodge and I think I can say that it exceeded everyone's expectations by far! The bride to be was extremely happy with the surprise (I think she wasn't expecting this kind of accommodation at all!) and the rest of us couldn't believe how beautiful everything around us was. The lodges are amazing, lovely decorated, warm and cosy.

Our only little complaint would be that they didn't provide us with a few basics at enough quantities for 6 people during 3 days. We ran out of toilet roll and there was none to buy at the Honesty Larder, we couldn't find Tom or Kimmie and we ended up having to ask other guests to spare with us whatever they had left... that was definitely awkward.
We couldn't find any salt so we ate bland eggs every morning and there weren't any fresh eggs left to collect which was a bit of a disappointment, but I guess this has to do more with other guests arriving before taking more than they needed. We had to buy from the Honesty Larder instead.

But his are all minor details compared to the wonderful time we had. I would definitely recommend this to everyone looking to have a lovely time with their friends, families or partners. We will be back!

We had a really lovely stay in the lodge. It was extremely homely (especially the snugly bed behind the curtain)! It was very warm and cosy, even though the weather was a little cold. Our welcome was exceptional; we were made to feel really at home and loved the idea of the honesty larder, so useful when you have forgotten something! The children really enjoyed collecting the eggs in the morning and they were very yummy. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay! Thank you

We had a brilliant time at Tom's Eco Lodge, the lodge itself was really well equipped and perfect for us, nice and light and fresh in the daytime and able to make it cosy at night. Hopefully we will return in the not too distant future
