Barnfield is a pet-friendly home within a barn conversion, providing comfortable accommodation for four guests, with two bedrooms and two newly refurbished bathrooms. Neutrals and pastels create warmth throughout, while the newly renovated kitchen is ideal for preparing tasty breakfasts to delicious suppers. There is also access to four acres of communal gardens which include an orchard and several vantage points over the unspoiled village of Dittisham. There’s also parking for two cars.

Barnfield is in such a great location, especially if you want to get away from it all. So peaceful, and stunning views of the River Dart from the communal gardens. Everywhere is very well kept around the site, and it is also the perfect base to walk down to the river at Dittisham, where you can catch a ferry to both Greenway & Dartmouth. We have visited Dittisham many times, and all agree that Barnfield was one of the best accommodations we have stayed in.

Perfect for us as we love our boating and being by the river is great. Super property with everything we need and very clean and comfortable. Love coming back to Dittisham as it is a very special place , so beautiful.

This is the second time we have stayed on this complex and we returned because of its excellent location. We enjoyed being able to walk into Dartmouth and take the ferry back and also took walks into Totnes and around the Greenway estate. The Ferryboat Inn was a great place to take refreshment after a day out walking.
This property has everything you need for a short stay.
The second bedroom is small and when made up as a twin offers no storage so it's necessary to live out of your suitcase. The towel rail in the main bathroom doesn't work so on chilly April mornings it was particularly cold. Thankfully there was always plenty of hot water. We found the timing of the heating impossible to control so the property was always cold in the mornings.
The bin in the kitchen needs replacing.
None of the above would put us off booking again though we might book at a warmer time of year.

Barnfield is in a lovely location and the property is in good condition inside. One or two problems - bathroom heated towel rail not working and a mirror would be useful in the other bathroom. It would have been nice to have a welcome pack!

A lovely spacious property in a peaceful setting with great views. We had a restful and enjoyable stay. Let down by a few minor quibbles, particularly if preparing your own meals, some of which we notice have been raised by other residents:
- a shaving point but no mirror in the en suite, whilst the other bathroom has a mirror but no shaving point
- no oven gloves
- a large assortment of knives and forks, but somewhat lacking in spoons
- an odd assortment of glasses

Beautiful location and a great complex of cottages although you need to be a confident driver to tackle the steep hills. The village is gorgeous. The cottage is a complete escape and also great base to explore this lovely area. We would definitely return.

Very good cottage and lovely location,well equiped .Stayed four times now.
The only small complaint I make with the hope it will help the owners.
A good mirror is required in the bathroom and main bedroom.
The toilet seat in the bathroom is the wrong size for the toilet pan which results in a cleaning problem.
A hook would help on the bathroom door.
Mattress on double bed is not comfortable. A chair would help also.

Lovely accommodation in a beautiful village; great views of the river and only a short walk to The Ham. Here exceptional views across to The Greenway and Galmpton. Fabulous walking to the Ferry Boat Inn especially at low tide -along the beach!

Barnfield is a beautiful upside down cottage, very well equipped with plenty of quality crockery and cutlery. Lovely pictures and ornaments dotted around, plus books and DVD's, making it very homely. The second bedroom however is a twin, not a double as stated in the description.

We had a lovely, relaxing stay in this well equipped and comfortable barn conversion.

Enjoyed the stunning views from the property and great dog walks in the village and surrounding area.

The only downside was the building work going on next door, it was a bit noisy at times.

We would definetly be happy to stay at Barnfield again.

Our fourth stay at Dittisham Court but our first stay in Barnfield and we would stay there again. The property is well furnished, light and airy with plenty of easy parking. The views from the communal garden looking out over the estuary are stunning. Good walks from the property to Dartmouth, Totnes or across the estuary to other villages.

Loved our stay at Barnfield, the cottage is in a great location with views of the sunset that couldn’t be better! The local pub provides great meals on the terrace and also doubles as the village shop which is really well stocked should you decide to stay in.

In the most beautiful and peaceful setting with a view of the river and rolling Devon hills and countryside. Within walking distance to the pubs and the Ham, where we spent lots of time just relaxing.

What a beautiful location. A short steep climb necessary to reach this ingenious barn conversion, but well worth it, as it has created a fantastic view from the front porch. Saw some really spectacular sunsets during our all too short stay. Enjoyed the comfortable living area with its two settees to stretch out on whilst watching the TV. Soft carpeting throughout. I quite enjoyed going "downstairs" to bed!

The general design is good but the second bedroom is too small, with no room for a chair.
The washbasin in the main bathroom is in a recess making it impossible to wash or clean teeth without drops of water falling onto the floor, because your head knocks against the wall.
The main bedroom requires 2 chairs.
We rapidly ran out of crockery and cutlery due to the reduction on account of Covid. With 4 people you need at least double of everything. We found we were constantly doing washing up. There is a lack of suitable crockery for cooking in the microwave apart from one large casserole dish.

Our second holiday at barnfield. Christine at dart valley holiday let's was very helpful and reassuring over the phone before we came on holiday. The barnfield was very clean,perfect location, the anchor and stone beautiful food and the ferry boat pub made you feel very welcome .overall a excellent holiday and definitely will be making it a third visit.

There were no towels! I phoned the contact no who said that towels were not provided! There is no mention of this in the description or booking info. We had to go and buy some adding considerably to the cost of our stay. Had we known, we could have easily brought some with us. Cooker hood also does not work.

Barnfield was everything we wanted for a comfortable New Year break. The cottage was warm, spacious, well-equipped, nicely decorated & furnished. The 2 parking spaces were invaluable. A choice of 2 pubs to walk to with a short & not too steep walk on the pavement to the foreshore. We enjoyed good food at the Ferry Boat Inn while the shop at The Red Lion was well-stocked even on New Year’s Day. We were also pleased to find that the ferry to Dartmouth runs on demand even in the depths of winter. Just give them a call.
