A lovely newly refurbished house. Very comfortable with stylish furnishings. Bed was the best we have slept in. Fantastic views from living room, kitchen and bedroom. We loved Brixham too. We will be back!
We thought the cottage was of a very high standard beautifully furnished and clean. The other good thing was we could use the swimming pool and also had dinner at the restaurant at the Dartmouth country club.
Perfect from start to finish, excellent location and house. Great communication from Dart Valley Cottages
We had a wonderful holiday in our beloved Dartmouth in this lovely apartment which had everything we needed. Most welcome was the milk and biscuits provided for our arrival, something which seems to have disappeared in other properties. Our only complaints are that it was the most expensive property in the block for a relatively small place and compared to others we've stayed. The arrival time of 4pm is also late especially for an Autumn break.
Ritson farm is a home away from home with everything you need for a comfortable stay. There is plenty of space for an extended family gathering or group of friends and a lovely garden for BBQs and games. We particularly loved watching the birds on the bird feeder and the thoughtfully provided binoculars and bird book. It is these little details that set Ritson Farm apart from the crowd.
A lovely flat right in the centre of Dartmouth - perfectly situated for a short stay - would highly recommended.
The house was as we expected it to be and in line with its description. The village and the region along the Dart River are quiet. The slight negative is access to the shower/toilet is mid-stairs and rather awkward but it is okay for most visitors. People with some physical disability should check first with the agent. The bedroom has a lovely view of the Dart River - nearly panoramic. The two local pubs are tranquil places ... food is okay. The ferry across to Dartmouth is fun and Dartmouth is a lovely town. Nice stay for a few days, pity the weather was poor but then it was all across E...more
This property was very clean, comfortable and in good location, with great views. Near parking and local pubs.
We stayed in Seascape for a week in October. The flat was clean, well laid out and had everything we needed. The location was perfect, overlooking the lower ferry and with easy access to shops and restaurants. The only possible downsides, and not a real problem for us, were the stairs and the parking. The flat is on the second floor of the building, up steep flights of stairs, and the parking space is adequate, but a little tricky to manouvre into.
The apartment is lovely, instructions on how to get there were really helpful and having a place right in the middle of Dartmouth with a car space was great. We did get a bit of a feeling that the owners were doing us a favour by letting us stay there - perhaps it was the way things were worded on communication around the apartment? The apartment was very clean but I wouldn't say spotlessly clean - but we have high standards in this regard. It was well appointed, had everything we needed (including a good DVD collection ) except that I had to request pillow cases. They were provided very q...more
Comfortable house with great views of the river, you just have to be prepared for the steps to get into town.
Middle cottage was a brilliant base for a half term autumn break with our 5 and 2 yo. It was very well appointed with everything you could think of needing. The cottage was always warm and cosy, especially so with the wood burner going. The location was very quiet and tranquil with views across the open countryside and is in a great position for visiting Totnes, Dartmouth and beyond. It is a 10-15min from the nearest A road and we found the drive in and out quite stressful, especially with a van and at night, the roads are very narrow and steep at points The master bed was very comfy an...more
I think this is now about our 4th or 5th stay at 16 Clarence Hill, good location with parking, would be good just to have carpet on to the top floor, bit steep and slippery!
Curlew Cottage is the perfect place to relax, unwind and get away from it all. A beautifully presented property with fabulous views from the garden and main bedroom. Had all the amenities we needed. 10 minute walk downhill to the Ferry Boat Inn on the river for delicious pizzas, the Anchorstone Cafe for a seafood lunch and more fantastic views. Steep walk back up to the cottage but worth the effort! Easy to get ferries to and from Dartmouth so can leave the car behind. We had an excellent stay, really recharged the batteries. Highly recommend Curlew Cottage.
On the whole the house is nice, but a few points Plus points are the location with great views, the parking space (advertised as for 2 cars but would be tight for 2 unless both very small), well equipped house, lots of plates, mugs, glasses etc. Beds are very comfortable, for the most part decor throughout is very good but just the areas below in the negatives let it down a bit. A few negative points. You'll need to have your own iPlayer and ITV accounts to use the TVs as smart TVs as the aerial signal wasn't strong enough so not possible to watch via freeview. Dart Valley did offer to ...more
Excellent location. Close to everything, including the car park. Couldn't fault the accommodation. Very comfortable beds and had everything you would need.
Barnfield is in such a great location, especially if you want to get away from it all. So peaceful, and stunning views of the River Dart from the communal gardens. Everywhere is very well kept around the site, and it is also the perfect base to walk down to the river at Dittisham, where you can catch a ferry to both Greenway & Dartmouth. We have visited Dittisham many times, and all agree that Barnfield was one of the best accommodations we have stayed in.
Great house in imaculate condition. Lots of steps up to the house and two stair case within the property but no stair gates so bought our own from Argos. But apart from that we had a lovely time and would defo recommend to anyone looking for an easy property for walking straight into town.
We arrived and fell in love, what a beautiful cottage. Everything we could possibly need, including a lovely box of mince pies and a bottle of prossecco. Beds were comfortable, showers worked, kitchen used and everything worked and finally perfect position in Dartmouth. We will definitely be back. Thank you
We really enjoyed our stay at Ollie's Cottage. A true "home from home". Very clean and comfortable and difficult to say how it could be improved. In respect of the area, this was the first time I have visited the Dart Estuary. What a wonderful part of the country, plenty to do and see and everyone is extremely friendly. Cannot praise the area or cottage enough. Rob and Nicki
We stayed for a week and really enjoyed it. The house had everything that we could need for four adults. Having spacious off road parking for two cars was a bonus. The house was very clean and comfortable. We walked into the town every evening for dinner and it was a pleasant walk although coming back is uphill which was quite a workout! It was really helpful having a washing machine and a washing line and airer but a washer/dryer or the ability to use the heated towel rails would be helpful on damp/drizzly days. Our dogs loved the garden and although fully enclosed, the front wall is quite ...more
The house was very comfortable and a fantastic location. A couple of negatives however. The main one being that I parked my car (front in first) with the bonnet under the entry, some kind of liquid had dripped onto the bonnet which removed the surface of the paint. The other point (minor but unnecessary) the BBQ had not been cleaned.
Fantastic house Extremely clean and comfortable. Stayed there twice now hope to return next year Faultless house and great customer service when booking etc Ĥighly recommended
Had a lovely time at damson cottage; would definitely stay there again and recommend it. Only thing I found missing was a hair dryer which I had forgotten to bring. Lovely location and very quiet.
Bell cottage was lovely, very clean and smelt beautiful with lovely Dartmouth Candles diffusers in the rooms it is in a perfect town centre location. We would return.
The location is wonderful and right in the heart of all the action. Being off season this was great and easy to find free parking nearby. The apartment is exactly as shown in the pictures and such a lovely space to stay in! Kitchen has all the things you need of you want to stay in, but with so much at the doorstep there’s no need if eating out is what you prefer. Would definitely recommend this accommodation to anyone wanting to visit!
Superb property in fantastic position. It would be perfect if there was a toilet on the lower ground floor
Booked late but we were met by Helen who made us feel very welcome. We were invited to walk around her lovely garden which we made use of. Quiet peaceful spot and everything was there to make our stay comfortable.
Perfect four bedroomed cottage for four mates on a golf trip couple of smashing pubs in walking distance or another just a couple of miles away lovely friendly people
This is the second time we have visited DunedIn Cottage. Last year we stayed with family, this year we went with friends. The location is superb - as long as you are fit. Parking on the beach to load / unload is easy, but you need to check the tide and be confident driving through narrow lanes. We particularly liked going on the ferry to Dartmouth, or across to Greenways, there are great walks for the dog on either side of the river - once she had got use to the ferry. The house is perfect for groups of 6, with the garden cabin allowing seclusion, the family kitchen when we did decide to ...more
When first entering the cottage we were disappointed with the overall appearance of the lounge. A very uncomfortable leather sofa. We were happy with the kitchen and the bedrooms and bed linen. The bathroom was a problem as the water from the bath was very slo running away, and the plug didn’t fit ! The house keeper came and changed the plug which was a little better but we had to clean away the ‘gunge’ that was stopping the water running away. Also there were two dirty towels left from the previous customer on the back of the bedroom door. Disappointed with a poor welcome basket but I ...more
We stayed here last year and we’re very happy so decided to book again for this year. We were disappointed from the onset when we arrived at 3 to find our villa not cleaned. We had got check in time wrong but we didn’t leave property until 3.25 after phoning dart valley and cleaners still weren’t there!!! How they thought they could efficiently and thoroughly clean a 3 story properly in half hour I don’t know! We had booked our food delivery for 4-5 and so we came back for 4pm when the food order came but cleaners STILL not finished. We were emptying food onto wet floors around cleaners…..ha...more
Excellent far reaching views. Very steep drive to parking area. Comfortable bedrooms, good kitchen appliances but no freezer or ice box to fridge. Water pressure poor to taps but shower ok, slippery shower floor and no non-slip mat.
Thanks for my recent stay in Gull's Nest. All went very smoothly and the cottage is very well organised and comfortable. Someone had very kindly put up Christmas decorations and left some mulled wine and mince pies which I really appreciated. Just a couple of things. It would be good to have an extra duvet or heavy blanket. I was actually fine as I was there on my own so I just folded the double duvet in half to get two layers. But for two people in winter they may have been cold. Also your directions for getting there for car drivers seemed very good. I however came on public trans...more
We had a lovely stay at duck cottage. The perfect place for a restful break. Our only issue was parking we had two cars and it proved to be difficult. Very limited space to park in the village. If we had know this it would have made our trip easier
Very happy with the accommodation. Very clean and presentable. Good location near to lots of cafes and eateries. Communication excellent.
Beautiful property which we have stayed at before. However,on arrival,we found a dirty t-towel left in the washing machine and several items of crockery left in the dishwasher (clean). I'd like to point out the 2 nails that are protruding near to the stairs on the left hand side on the ground floor. Lovely changes to the sofas and better layout in the lounge area.We found the wooden shelf in the upper bathroom awkward as the sink isn't big enough for brushing your teeth.More cereal bowls would be welcome as there were only 4 and there were 5 of us.Overall we had a lovely week at the property. ...more
We had a great week at Pipiriki. Brilliant location with the beach at the end of the garden, gorgeous view from the house and beautiful garden. The house itself is tired though, and we had to buy a lot of the items we’d normally expect to find in the kitchen eg oil, pepper, coffee, cleaning spray, bin bags (there was only 1 left) etc. Also there was no working hoover (the tiny DustBuster didn’t work) at the property which meant using a dustpan and brush - which with 4 children was exhausting.
Lovely few days in a favourite part of the world Excellent little cottage, clean and tidy BUT couldn't find a teapot or cafetiere! One small but important omission......although your manual lists a vet there is no listing for local Taxis, Dr surgery, Medical centre or hospital. ( Even The Anchor Cafe has a list of Taxis!) Unfortunately i needed these as a small puncture wound from barbed wire wouldn't stop bleeding
The property is in a great location for exploring the area. It is walking distance to a good pub and the passenger ferry to a number of locations including Dartmouth. If you have a paddleboard or canoe, don't forget to take them with you! We really enjoyed our stay, however the instructions for the key safe are not correct on the arrival details so it did take us a while to find the key! The property would also benefit from blackout curtains in the bedrooms as in the Summer it is very light in the morning which makes it difficult to have a lie in.
Had a lovely time as always. Just to let you know that the shower doesn't work and there was an old cake in the drawers that hadn't been removed. We brought our mattress topper with us for the bed in the spare bedroom because the mattress was uncomfortable last year. Such beautiful views from the property and a great location, thank you.
We have been going to Dittisham for over 20 yrs & have used Dart valley cottages , all the time although I think it’s been sold ! This was a last minute booking & during school not many cottages were left so we havnt stayed at the Nook , but knew the street we would be in so fine , As you are not allowed in until 4 pm & must be out by 10 am you would think cottage as very small would be spotless , The bathroom was filthy floor really dirty with hairs in plug holes , then smoke detector alarms were going off dust everywhere , phoning nos to get all this fixed did not go down well with the c...more
Wonderful House, views and village if the nerves hold on the last mile or so to the house! Great facilities and all was well on arrival bar there being no hand towels in the additional WCs - we thought that odd. We had the bedroom under the lounge; our bottom sheet had been put back damp on arrival; no problem; we sorted that. Despite the rules for rubbish; someone had dumped dirty nappies in the bin - we had no babies! The bin men refused to take these. My only real issue was with the flooring noises! In a house like this with the bedrooms downstairs and with youngsters in our party, this ...more
Without doubt the worst holiday let we have stayed in. Poor condition in terms of facilities and cleanliness. Lack of instructions, toilet seats were loose, dishwasher was broken and it looked like it had been for a while. The door in the double bedroom was hard to open and you really had to pull at it to open it. No instructions for heating (although in the booklet it did mention a thermostat in lounge that wasn’t actually there). Only one curtain in lounge to one side and it would have been nice to have relaxing seats (to admire the view which was actually lovely) in the window instead of th...more
What a wonderful little cottage we have stayed here before and would stay again everything we needed ans so close to Dartmouth no garden but not needed with so many places to sit out well kitted out kitchen to cook yourself and dishwasher was a godsend
We stayed here for 3 nights over New Year and enjoyed using the light, bright kitchen/dining area. The rainfall shower was also very pleasant. We had difficulties with some of the heating controls initially and had one issue re towel rail in the bathroom that was quickly resolved. We didn’t find the sofa particularly comfortable and the position of this didn’t make for easy TV viewing. The kitchen would benefit from more equipment such as a decent set of knives, scissors and mixing bowls. A towel rail in the WC would be useful.
The property is well equipped but the layout of the apartment is a little strange. The small kitchen area is an integral part of the living room area, but has no real food preparation area, so it's difficult to keep any cooking smells from dominating the living space, despite the small integral fan above the cooker. The main bedroom is really small, with a small double bed, the single bedroom has no natural light and no window. Probably the apartment is more suited for just two people. One little gripe, the TV is situated in an alcove in the corner of the room, and difficult to see, if you...more
A really nice property in a fab location. Lots of stairs/steps so not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. The property was clean and well equipped...some basic kitchen items such as kitchen roll, salt and pepper, foil, oil would have been useful (most self catering places have these nowadays). There is a lot of space, so it would be suitable for 3 couples easily, which makes it good value. Overall we would recommend this property
Fantastic location, parking near the cottage (pay to park, not an issue). 2 pubs either end if the village also one is a shop and post office which also does take away meals, excellent breakfast. Fantastic well kept garden absoloutly huge. Water taxis to Dartmouth regular (best to book at busy times). Cottage was lovely, but in need of a bit of a spruce up, and a good clean.
Cottage was generally excellent, it had everything that we needed. It was in a quiet location with convenient parking. We might have considered extending our stay had the weather been better.
Big Georgian house, lots of space but needs a lot of TLC. Dreadful bathrooms. Not bad bedrooms. Excellent location. Good job it was sunny as house very depressing. Not enough crockery and glasses for 8 people. Hard to recommend it in spite of the location.
Holly cottage is in the most beautiful location. The cottage is a little tired and even in the sunny days was cold in the evening we took wood and kindling, this made a real difference. Garden furniture at the rear of cottage in poor condition. Despite this its location made up for it… we had a fabulous 5 days.
Stunning views, lovely house however kitchen was under equipped, not enough glasses, plates or utensils. Blind in the bedroom was hanging off the wall, contacted Dart Valley Cottages but no one attended to fix during our stay which was disappointing.
This cottage is very well maintained, very clean & very well equipped, thought has been given to what people need when they're on holiday. It's well positioned in the village for the shop & pub, also walks.
Great location and quiet, short walk into town. The milk, teabags, sugar, dishwasher tabs etc v useful. Thank you!
This was our second visit, and on our arrival we were dismayed to see the house looking so tired and dirty outside. The interior was clean, but the kitchen was very disappointing. Cooking equipment was in some cases greasy and not properly washed, items were broken including the kettle. Kitchen cupboard interiors were dirty. This time we couldn’t use the garden furniture because the grass was long and hadn’t been cut for some time. We contacted Dart Valley staff, who said they would pass on our comments to the owners. Nothing happened despite their written assurances about high standards in th...more
Cottage was a bit smaller than the photos seem to show but perfectly fine for our week stay. Made full use of the tennis court, pool and pool table in the bar. Could have made location of bins clearer as had to ask reception as not visible from the front of the hotel. All the staff very helpful, especially the bar staff, drinks a bit pricey though. Minor moan, the sealing around the shower tray was grubby and could probably do with replacing with fresh mastic. Overall thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly consider returning
We loved Dartside cottage. It was so beautiful. The garden was stunning but sadly we didn't have good weather to enjoy it. The interiors were fabulous. It has been decorated and refurbished to a very high standard. All the details were beautiful. We found there were lots of kitchen items provided which the agency were not aware of. We even had logs provided which the agency didn't realise. The standard of cleaning could be improved I felt as it did not match the standard of the property. I found the kitchen shelves dirty and the sofa had hair on and crumbs. We contacted the agency with qu...more
Please correct the Guest Manual regarding the heating system, we spent far too long trying to work out how to get hot water! There was no outside light, making it tricky to negotiate the key safe and the padlock for the parking space when we arrived at 5pm on the first day. Otherwise we loved the charm and character of the property, the views are amazing. It is in a peaceful spot but very handy for the town centre.
Unfortunately I need to give my first bad review. The basic cleaning (bathrooms, sink) was excellent, but in my view the kitchen was absolutely terrible. The stove was covered in grease and cobwebs, with the baking tray drawer and extractor hood untouchable, (ignition switch not working so long handled lighter supplied), green mould growing on the utensils, grease spots on the under cabinet lighting (which didn't work), cupboard interiors grey. The whole room needs a complete deep clean which we didn't want to have the inconvenience of during our stay. Dirty mark on the seat of a lounge chair...more
