A lovely week in Hawke cottage as a family of 4 (children aged 12 and 10 years). The cottage is very nicely presented, cosy and modern. The kitchen is well equipped. Beds are comfy; bed in main bedroom is a double so on the smaller side, but this is in keeping with the cottage sized rooms. The garden is a great suntrap with lovely views. Great to use the pool and golf facilities at the hotel - the kids had a great time. Only negative is the WiFi was very slow - but this didn’t bother us too much. 5-10 minute drive to Dartmouth and local amenities, 10-15 mins to the beach. Would defi...more
From the start of the booking process, to the moment we closed the door at the end of our holiday, everything was perfect. Very comfortable, extremely clean and well presented house, with everything you could ask for. Perfectly located with great views. Don’t just head straight to Dartmouth. Make sure you grab a pint and a meal at the Steam Packet and also the Ship. The little Italian wine bar is also fab, and brunch at the coffee shop is delicious
The Hayloft is in an ideal position with easy access to the rest of the village of Dittisham. The village is delightful but has steep narrow streets that are easier to negotiate on foot, so the Hayloft is an ideal spot whilst still feeling part of the community. The property is very clean, smart and comfortable and perfect for a couple or a a family of 4. It's a compact 2 up and 2 down plus bathroom and added advantage of a second toilet, with plenty of storage. The beds are excellent and all the soft furnishings are good quality. The whole interior effect is smart and tasteful. Dart Vall...more
Beautiful property with fantastic views - better than the photos. Loved the decor especially the pictures. Furniture was excellent especially sofa in lounge. Everything was very clean except that one pillowcase in the small double room was clearly dirty - it had a yellow mark and hairs on it. Also one of the blue towels had strange orange streaks on it. These did not detract in any way from the holiday but thought it was worth mentioning so that all bedding/towels are checked carefully. Really lovely house - missing the views!
We really enjoyed out stay at the house, it was very clean well kitted out and in a great location. It was only about an 8 minute walk to the centre of town, although there was a bit of a hill on the way back up it wasn't too bad and managed fine by older people that we with us. would definitely book again with the same company.
Barberry Farm Cottage is absolutely wonderful. It has charm, luxury and is incredibly cosy. Perfect for our family gathering of 8 and everyone had a beautiful room and bathroom. The aga and woodturner are especially lovely as is the open plan kitchen and dining space. Situated in a stunning valley with just the sound of birds, a woodpecker and a brook and a delightful garden space. Really friendly and very helpful owners, thank you Georgia and Bob. I would highly recommend this property for anyone wishing to have a relaxing break, simply gorgeous.
The property is one road away from the river and situated a short walk from some great restaurants and pubs. It is above a shop accessed by a side door, once in there are steps up to the apartment and so you will need to be physically mobile.
This has been our first visit to Dartmouth, inspired in part by Claire Balding's TV series. We were lucky to have good weather while we were there - windy most days, but dry and bright, allowing us to do most of what we had planned. The Food Festival was an unexpected bonus, even if it made parking in the town a bit problematic, considering the apartment parking was closed due to gas works. But we managed OK in the end. The apartment is comfortable and very well equipped - we don't eat out much at all, so to have M&S just round the corner, and more than adequate cooking facilities was just ri...more
Cherub Cottage contains 2 good sized bedrooms, one with a built in wardrobe, the second bedroom has just a stand for hanging clothing, which was fine for our short stay. The main bedroom has a shower and sink in its en-suite, the family bathroom has a bath with a shower over, a sink and toilet. The cottage is very well presented and very clean. The kitchen is excellent, well equipped with appliances, including a dishwasher and plenty of cooking utensils. The sitting room contains a small stylish sofa, with a matching chair and a low armchair, which for a night in watching TV didn’t prove v...more
The house was as we expected it to be and in line with its description. The village and the region along the Dart River are quiet. The slight negative is access to the shower/toilet is mid-stairs and rather awkward but it is okay for most visitors. People with some physical disability should check first with the agent. The bedroom has a lovely view of the Dart River - nearly panoramic. The two local pubs are tranquil places ... food is okay. The ferry across to Dartmouth is fun and Dartmouth is a lovely town. Nice stay for a few days, pity the weather was poor but then it was all across E...more
Lovely house, in great condition with wonderful views. The second time we've visited, and had a great time again. Comfy beds and decent showers.
Beautifully appointed apartment with a superb location and view. Cannot fault the property, clean, spacious and in such a fantastic location. The parking space is a massive bonus, it is long but a very wide car would be at a disadvantage. After a 6 hour journey and a 4pm arrival time a small welcome pack would have made it even more perfect. Would definitely go back to Seascape.
We had a lovely stay at Captain's Cottage. It was clean, comfortable and brilliantly positioned to be able to walk everywhere in Dartmouth. The parking permit is a much appreciated perk with the cottage as we didn't have to worry about parking. This was our second stay in Captain's Cottage and we hope to return again in the future.
Always comes up trumps. We love this accommodation, use it every year sometimes twice! Home from home
We've stayed at No 16 about half a dozen times, always very happy there. Clean and comfortable and great views of Kingwear.
Everything about Middle Cottage is fantastic! The cottage has been renovated to a very high standard and has all the mod cons for a relaxing stay but has retained all the character of a 200 year old cottage. We loved sitting on the sumptuous leather sofa in front of the old fireplace and watching the sheep in the fields opposite and in the evening, settling down in the cozy snug. The cottage is very light and airy. We didn't need to touch the heating system as it was programmed to come on and just take the chill off in the mornings and evenings which was fine. The bathroom has underfloor heati...more
A fantastic house in a fantastic location. The team at Dart Valley cottages could not have been more helpful in making our stay perfect.
Great house in imaculate condition. Lots of steps up to the house and two stair case within the property but no stair gates so bought our own from Argos. But apart from that we had a lovely time and would defo recommend to anyone looking for an easy property for walking straight into town.
Superb stay and comfort in this property. But, (and it is a big but) if you have a normal to largish car, it will only half fit in the garage, thus making it an impossible stay. If any of the car is left sticking out of the garage, then the owner of the drive (not the owner of twenty unfortunately) will insist upon you moving your vehicle. We had to call an ambulance for one of the family and it was a worrying time, but he still insisted the car be moved. Very unreasonable chap. Would not book this place again unfortunately as a result of his behaviour, which is a great shame as the property i...more
On arrival, three things caused us immediate concern. Weed strewn paved area, outside furniture in poor condition and a rocker chair with stool beside the door, in a filthy condition. Later discovered shower cabinet was mouldy and dirty. After a phone call, weeds and shower were dealt with by housekeeping. The whole property feels tired and in need of significant refresh. For example shower room floor is in a very poor state. However the rest of the property was clean and all the kitchen equipment appeared to be brand new. Overall we enjoyed our holiday in a great location but feel disappoi...more
A well-equipped, clean and comfortable cottage. The parking was easy and all instructions in the guidelines were clear. As a dog owner, I was a little disappointed that dogs had to stay on the ground floor, as the sitting room, television etc are on the first floor. This was my only quibble. I recommend leaving the car and travelling by ferry whenever possible. Stress free, beautiful views and you get a real sense of the wonderful landscape. Take time to step out on a clear night, the stars are amazing! Would definitely recommend.
We love this cottage. We are always staying there and we are hoping to stay there again next year. Big THANK YOU
The accomodation had everything we needed for our stay. It was very well equipped and the beds were comfortable. We had no trouble with the check in and there was very good local information provided.
Wonderful week long stay in Dittisham. The cottage has everything you need and is in an idyllic location. The kids loved making use of the orchard the property backs onto. A few things that would make the stay even better: * The beds should be made properly - the sheets hadn't been tucked in at all and I don't appreciate having to do this when I first arrive * The mattresses should be replaced - they were not very comfortable * A bit of love for the outdoor furniture - cushions, parasol etc would be nice But I wouldn't hesitate to stay again and the four of us had a fab week.
Superb property in fantastic position. It would be perfect if there was a toilet on the lower ground floor
A spacious bungalow with plenty of parking. Useful having bus stop, accessed through the gate in the back garden and Spar shop a few minutes walk away. Positioned quite high above the town so walking to and from the town could be challenging but interesting alleyways and properties to see. A very comfortable and well equipped property but did find the bed rather firm. Good bathroom and separate toilet. Plenty of garden space.
Perfect four bedroomed cottage for four mates on a golf trip couple of smashing pubs in walking distance or another just a couple of miles away lovely friendly people
We were three friends sharing the cottage which made it very affordable. We loved the cottage! It was homely, stylish & very clean. It was in a perfect position, right behind the shops and overlooking a beautiful church. We were also pleasantly surprised that we had a parking permit waiting for us in the kitchen which was appreciated. There were a couple of minor points that we think need addressing though, being the TV that we couldn’t get to work, the pillows were all too flat for our liking & the mattresses weren’t very comfortable, the bottle tray in the fridge door is broken & fell of...more
This was our second visit to this perfectly located property in Dartmouth. The accommodation is spacious, very well equipped and very comfortable. Suits us perfectly so returning next year. Small issue with heating on this visit but a new boiler is being installed so no further issues in future.
This is a warm cosy cottage which had everything we wanted for a relaxing stay doing very little. There is lovely walking nearby, and good pubs within walking distance. I do think though that the description should mention the steep stairs and number of steps in the property. There is only parking for one average sized car.
Overall an excellent place to stay, but for us personally the bed was uncomfortable and the free standing bath was difficult to get in and out of due to its steep sides. The shower was unusable due to water dispersing on the floor despite the shower cutains being in place.Totaly un-practical for persons with joint mobility issues. A walk in shower would be much safer for all age ranges used on a regular basis. The bed although clean and spacious had a matress that was from our point of view too hard and the duvet too heavy. Having said that we had lovely and pleasant stay in this establish...more
We loved 15, Churchfields! It’s everything we hoped for and more. The house was lovely - modern kitchen, comfortable beds, great shower room and amazing views from both the lounge and the balcony. Dart Valley Cottages kept in touch at every stage.
Perfect location. Parking is an issue (but this is made clear beforehand) and we always found somewhere as long as you don't mind walking a few minutes. We noticed the same things as the previous reviewer - there was only one wine glass, and we really needed a clothes airer for our towels. In fact there is one but we only found it just as we were leaving - it's under the bed!! It would also be sensible to have a door mat to avoid wet or muddy boots on the carpet and a mirror in the bedroom would be good. But overall we were very pleased and would stay there again if we were in Dartmouth.
Very nice cottage with a lovely garden - quite large for a terrace. The whole property is nicely decorated. The two top floor bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. The front room is just about big enough and has a dining table for 4 people. The kitchen is compact but serviceable. The house is private and quite peaceful with good access to town. The property was not thoroughly clean when we arrived. The downstairs bedroom had used tissues beside the drawers, and the floor rug was dirty. The same room was quite small and only had a porthole for natural light. The ground floor had a musty smel...more
Having been to Dartmouth many times we were so pleased with the property, the location was excellent and so comfortable. Definitely stay there again
Perfect place to stay in tranquil village setting - a real bolt hole away from the business of everyday life. Great walks directly from the village and good to be able to get the foot ferry to Dartmouth. Shippon End was a good place to stay and was clean and comfortable.
Lovely comfortable cottage with outdoor space. We really enjoyed our week stay. The cottage has everything you need. Very good overall thank you
This property was incredible! We loved the view over the beautiful estuary, which could be enjoyed from out outdoor seating or the communal bench. The property was spacious and well equipped, finished to a high standard. There's lots to explore in the local area.
Generally well equipped kitchen although some of the saucepans are a little tired, We had difficulty finding the users manual for the hob as various manuals put in different places instead of just in one box file. The house was very comfortable and the heating kept us very cosy during our stay in late October. The setting is lovely despite the very narrow roads within the village. One warning, we have an ordinary estate car but the turn to get to the parking space at the rear is very tight.
Dittisham is a quintessential English village nestling in the heart of the River Dart. We have stayed before and adored the peacefulness and beautiful surroundings. Orchard Cottage is located in a particular spot of beauty with stunning views. Orchard Cottage was very practical for our three night stay, though I hasten to add could do with a spruce up in some areas. The kitchen and bathroom being two of the rooms in particular. Excellent parking and a wonderful garden added to our stay. Dart Cottages as always offering excellent customer service! Thank you!
We had a brilliant stay with location perfect for access to Dartmouth and beyond via ferry but also Brixham side of river. House was well equipped, clean and perfect size with parking (and public EV charge point) just down road.
Lovely location but to far from places to visit especially having only one way in and out down narrow lane got very tedious, floor very noisy to walk on when others were still in bed.
Spectacular views are to be found high up above the town looking over to Kingswear and along the Dart estuary. This property is for fit mobile guests as 40 steps lead up to the property. A further 76 steps are required to reach the lower town and also to be negotiated on the return. Also no hand rails on any of the stairs in the property. We were disappointed not to have a patio umbrella especially as we were fortunate to have hot weather and would like to have sat out relaxing. A kind neighbour took pity on us and actually lent us one. Whilst very pleased to have parking, a luxury in Dartmout...more
Shippon Cottage is in a quaint, quiet village within walking distance of the river Dart. It was clean and warm, with an enormous and incredibly comfortable bed in the main bedroom, which also contained loads of cupboard space. If you want to use the TV (you won’t ) be aware there are no terrestrial channels and you need your own account to access Netflix/Prime etc. Amazing views out over the village, countryside and the river. Particularly from the outside seating area and from some of the benches and tables around the grounds. Perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine. We found the in...more
We had a very enjoyable stay at 2 Dartview. The location was great, being close to all amenities but also quiet, and an easy walk to the castle. Parking was not an issue. The number on the front of the property is 38 Dartview, with 2 being one of the interior flats and this information would have helped us find it slightly sooner! We did not mind the bedrooms being dark and appreciated the helpful light in the corridor. The property was well equipped and the heating and wifi were both easy to use.
The location of the property was perfect. The apartment was decorated in a contemporary style with original artwork which was very attractive. There were however a few maintenance issues which have been forwarded on.
We have been coming to Dittisham for many years and to Thornwell Cottage for several years now. We love the charm of this cottage and its wonderful garden, which offers different views in every season. The cottage is perfect for 2 people and charmingly furnished. Nothing is really missing. However, we have noticed a constant wear and tear over the years and a few investments in the furnishings would do the cottage a lot of good. But we will definitely come back and are already looking forward to it.
The cottage is exceptionally beautiful as well as the location . We have had lovely holidays twice now and we are coming back in June
The cottage is well situated in a beautiful village, with a short walk to the water side. There is a ferry across the river to Agatha Christie's holiday home, and easily accessible nature walks. The village is charming, and the local pub is nice. The house itself is great, well stocked for cooking (be sure to familiarise yourself with an AGA oven / stove top though!). One minor thing is that in the main bedroom, the water tank is set in the wall immediately behind the headboard, and has a consistent noise (a bit like water dripping and a small plastic piece knocking about), they should conside...more
Beautiful holiday home in a great location. Parking space much appreciated too. So much to do in this area at any time of year.
We stayed for 10 nights in this very pleasant accommodation. Well equipped throughout, nice table and chairs at the front overlooking the river. Bit of a climb up a slope and steps to get to the front door but nothing too onerous. The courtyard garden gets the evening sun but is a bit tired looking. The top floor has spectacular views over the river to Kingswear via Velux windows. The Floating Bridge Inn is good for food as is the Packet Boat Inn in Kingswear Would recommend a stay here
Lily Cottage is a cute fisherman's cottage so size and quaintness as expected. However I must agree with previous reviewers that the kitchen is very dark and it made preparing a meal in February pretty tricky. Also underfloor heating in the dining room does not work (and from reviews it would seem that has been the case since October and so that is very disappointing to take guests through winter knowing there is no heating in that big room) In addition no door between thde dining/kitchen space and living room and so in cold February it made heating the living area very difficult....more
We had a wonderful stay at this charming holiday cottage in Dittisham. It’s full of character and surprisingly well equipped, especially considering its age — everything we needed was right at hand, and it felt like a real home-from-home. The location is absolutely incredible. Dittisham is such a special place, and the views from the cottage are genuinely lovely. Waking up and looking down over the River Dart was a highlight of our stay. A small note for anyone with mobility issues: the cottage sits in a steep, traditional part of the village. You can pull up outside to unload, which is ...more
On arrival at cottage looked very unkept window and doors needed cleaning. Gap round the front door let cold air in. Lounge and landing window glass has blown. We drew to the attention of Dart Valley Cottages shortly after arrival four things that needed urgent attention and although this was acknowledged by the company these were not attended to before our departure. These being the servicing of the fire extinguisher overdue by a year, fire blanket should have been replaced last October, the shower curtain was black in places, the pull cord for the light in the cloakroom was black and the pul...more
Cottage was a bit smaller than the photos seem to show but perfectly fine for our week stay. Made full use of the tennis court, pool and pool table in the bar. Could have made location of bins clearer as had to ask reception as not visible from the front of the hotel. All the staff very helpful, especially the bar staff, drinks a bit pricey though. Minor moan, the sealing around the shower tray was grubby and could probably do with replacing with fresh mastic. Overall thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly consider returning
The view from the cottage’s windows out over Dartmouth is superb. Its location in the heart of the town is also excellent. Having said that, warning should be given that the access road is extremely steep and only suitable for very small cars. Facilities are good but the property needs TLC - it feels like it’s being run into the ground. The garden is going wild with vines growing across the path etc. Window frames are in poor condition - they look rotten from outside. The bath is plastic and super flimsy - plus an edging tile was missing, leaving an unsightly hole. The whole place has charm bu...more
