We were really impressed with this lovely house, which felt more like a home than a holiday let. It is situated in rural surroundings with far reaching views of the beautiful Devon hills with a field of donkeys at the end of the garden and chickens wondering around.
Fantastic, comfortable property, well equiped. It's great position to see beautiful countryside and down to the Dart River. A bit scary on the road in and out as it's quite narrow, but well worth it!! A great place to relax and unwind. Pleasant village and walks round about.
Lovely cottage in superb location. We appreciated the quality of bedding, furniture etc. The little patio was lovely too. Our only criticism would be the pack of ‘special offer’ £1. Jaffa cakes that were left with the milk. A nice loaf of bread or even some quality shortbread would have been more appropriate - this would usually be found in a cottage of this standard. However we would book this cottage again!
There is only one thing I would recommend is the front door would benefit from being a stable Door Dean
Street door & communal hall & staircase is a bit shabby but don't be put off, as the flat itself is great. IT was clean & in good order with everthing you could ask for incuding things we have not found in other holiday lets, even down to boxes of tissues in each bedroom & living room. The Kitchen was vey well equipped (including a washing machine). The beds were very comfortable with good quality duvets & pillows. Fresh milk in frige & chocolate biscuits a nice touch. The minor niggle is that it is above the rear of the Dartmouth Yacht club & some times we heard voices & bottles being tipped...more
A cottage centred in the village of Dittisham in the South Hams. The cottage is spacious and very comfortable, set in its own gardens with private parking. The layout of the cottage may cause difficulties for people with disabilities. The stairs from the lounge to the kitchen level are quite high. The garden is quite steep. The cottage is ideally placed to explore the nearby coast and interesting houses and visitor attractions. It is a place where you can become and feel part of the local community, should you so desire. Thankfully there are no amusement arcades or seaside type activities. It...more
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Middle Cottage which was an absolute delight with lovely spaces to relax in inside and out, whatever the weather! It is beautifully decorated and furnished. The owners have thought of everything one could want (including jigsaws which we resorted to on a wet day!). We really appreciated the cream tea that greeted us on our arrival. Middle Cottage is a real home from home in a lovely part of the world with lots to see and do.The narrow Devonshire lanes are a delight to look at, and can be a bit of a challenge at times, especially in the height of the season we...more
We had a lovely holiday in East Prawle and found the cottage very comfortable and very well equipped - home from home.
We have recently returned from a delightful stay at Windjammer . The apartment more than lived up to the photos and description, in both the brochure and website. It is a lovely spacious apartment, very comfortable, with fabulous views. It feels like a home to live in not just a holiday 'let'. We would certainly be happy to return and are happy to recommend it, plus it has the advantage of being in a very beautiful part of the country. Marica and Robbie Pilkington
We stayed for 4 nights over the Dartmouth music Festival. The house was ideally situated, being close to the action yet very quiet at night. It's extremely well equipped and there was nothing we needed that wasn't supplied ( except perhaps sharper knives!). When we all managed to lock ourselves out they were really speedy turning up with the spare key. A great place to stay, would highly recommend it.
We chose the location and the cottage specifically because we wanted easy access to the Water for paddleboarding. It is ideal for this type of activity, and the front sitting area provides space for boards and equipment. The Dart is a very beautiful landscape and is a great mode of transport. We had an excellent week: Dittisham is lovely and I would go back there. It is the ideal contrast to the noise and air pollution of London. Unlike some holiday cottages the kitchen is very practical and well provided. My only caveat is that the fridge has an awkward internal design. I also appreciated ...more
We stayed at Hill Top View for a long period and where very happy there. This is a very good location for anyone wishing to visit the South Hams. We were well looked after by both the owner and the Dart Valley agency.
Dittisham is idyllic and the cottage is in a prime position on the quayfront. Very comfortable although we had to supplement the glasses and cutlery with purchases . The location and stairs would not suit those with mobility issues as the car must be parked far away and the stairs are steep but it was fine for us as we abandoned the car for a week and traveled around on the numerous ferries up and down the Dart and ate at the excellent nearby Anchorstone Cafe ( fish restaurant) . Our second trip and we have booked again for next year.
We have spent three June holidays at Below Decks over the last 5 years. The location is excellent with a short walk to the river to catch the lower ferry to Dartmouth. Very convenient. A quiet and peaceful location with a sunny patio to while away some time after your day’s Outing. No problem with parking as a private space is provided. Also close to the beautiful gardens and house at Coleton Fishacre and Brixham.
The accommodation was lovely save for the almost complete lack of outdoor space. As we took 2 dogs, a secure garden would have made it perfect but there was nowhere we could let them out. This meant 3 to 4 walks every day all of which required going up and down steep hills and late night walks in the dark, so this would not be an ideal spot for the less energetic dog owners. Otherwise the property was lovely, clean, spacious and well appointed.
Easy to find, traditional cottage, but decorated in a modern style and only a 4-5 minute flat walk into the town centre. Great little garden to relax in, very well equipped kitchen and great modern shower room. The car park was in the town but we never had a problem getting a space and we used the free permit in other towns which was really useful Not to be negative but there’s no washing machine, but I guess not everyone wants to do their washing on holiday. We would definitely return.
An enjoyable repeat stay at The Nook despite wet weather. The cottage provided all that we needed for a comfortable stay although a non-slip mat in the bath would be useful. The weather denied us the use of the pretty garden. The on-site parking is an added bonus. The village provides a choice of three eating establishments with the Red Lion PH being the closest to The Nook and doubles up as general store and Post Office.
Lovely cottage. Only things missing were a hoover (you can't sweep rugs!) and a toilet brush. and now I need six more characters here. losing all the good feelings I had about the cottage and agency!
A very comfortable cottage in convenient private position within the Dittisham Court development Lovely private patio at the back with views over, & access to a large shared orchard style garden Walking distance to the creek and villages 2 pubs one of which sits on the picturesque quay side whilst the other is also the post office and well stocked village shop
Thank you. A great stay and a charming cottage. Everything we could have wanted. Very well looked after and comfortable. Please could you consider a more comfortable sofa?
My sister and I had a lovely break in Curlew Cottage. It's very pretty and comfortable and we had glorious weather and so spent our breakfasts and evenings in the garden enjoying the wonderful views. We heard curlews every evening and were treated to spellbinding aerial displays from the swifts. The conservatory was a real boon. All in all a delightful cottage.
A very comfortable house. Wonderful location. Would definitely go back again. Excellent Café and friendly pubs on hand.
This was our fifth visit to the Old Brewhouse so it’s obvious that we think it’s great!!! Comfortable and welcoming property in an idyllic location next to the pub, opposite the restaurant and practically on the Dart Estuary. There really are few more beautiful places to be......
Everything at the cottage was as we had expected from the description and other reviews. We appreciated the welcoming flowers and the pint of milk in the fridge when we arrived. The location was excellent, with the big plus of an allocated parking space, and such a beautiful village to explore and enjoy. Both of the village pubs had a great atmosphere and we enjoyed a hearty meal at the Ferry Boat Inn. Will definitely stay at a Dart Valley Cottage again.
Garden cottage is perfectly situated. The cottage has a beautiful garden, is very comfortable and has everything you need.
House was very narrow and street was even narrower! That's what made it so cool! We enjoyed how they made use of every space in such a smart and stylish way. The view was breathtaking from the lounge. The breakfast items and champagne were the icing on the cake. The town was lovely and everything was in walking distance. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique travel experience.
We have just enjoyed another relaxing stay in beautiful Dittisham, The accommodation is in a peaceful setting with beautiful views of the River Dart, the accommodation is clean and comfortable with everything provided for a relaxing holiday, if I had one request it would be for some subdued lighting in the lounge area. This was our second stay in Riverview and we have every intention of returning again and would not hesitate to recommend it.
2 Dartview is in a great location. It’s very near the centre of town, but away from all the noise and bustle. The views across the river are wonderful. The kitchen appliances were all easy to use which made cooking trouble free. Throughout, all the furniture was comfortable (sofas, bed). The apartment was clean. The only slight drawback was at night when a light was sometimes switched on outside in the back which shone directly through the bedroom curtains and woke us up. Overall we had a lovely stay.
The cottage is fantastically located and very well appointed and comfortable for its size, but the overriding smell of damp on arrival was quite overpowering, especially upstairs. Open windows, an air freshener, and acclimatization helped but a few constant, neutral plug-ins may be useful. The other small grizzle was the shower which, for whatever reason, would only dispense freezing cold or scalding hot water, no matter what we tried. Brilliant to have the Marina car park so close by too - and to me, this made staying in Kingswear so much better than Dartmouth, especially as Kingswear is so q...more
There are few better locations than the quayside at Dittisham so this cottage is perfect in that respect. Added to that is a pretty and peaceful rear garden so you have sun morning and evening. Tunis is in fairly original condition but with a modern bathroom, very comfortable beds and a well-equipped if rather dated kitchen. It is pretty basic though and wouldn't suit people looking for ultra-modern accommodation. If your priority is the location, then this cottage is good value. The ceilings and doorways are very low so it isn't ideal for tall people. I hit my head a few times while staying t...more
very comfortable holiday home - could do with a little updating in living room especially, but meets all essential requirements.
We had a very enjoyable stay. The cottage is easy to find and in a great location for Dartmouth and surrounding areas. Having use of the golf club facilities is a real bonus, particularly the gym, swimming pool and sauna / spa. You need to take your own towels for the pool, they are not provided, but can be hired for a £1 per towel. Children are allowed in the pool between 9-10.30am and 4-6pm. The food in the golf club was excellent, the Sunday carvery is good value for money. The cottage itself is very well kitted out, everything you need for a comfortable stay. There is ample car parki...more
Great house, in a fantastic location with wonderful views and very convenient for shops, pubs and restaurants. A few minor tweaks in the house would be good including the central courtyard.
Lovely cottage in good location but be aware it is on a very steep hill and parking is difficult. DO NOT UPSET A VERY ANGRY LADY BY SHARING HER PARKING BAY, even if her one car still left space for another two.
We had a very enjoyable week. The cottage was well-equipped and in an excellent location. Lots to do in the area.
The fact that the garden is not adjacent to the property meant that we didn't use it . The steps up are quite steep for older or infirm people. The property itself was comfortable and clean and everything worked.
If anyone is looking for that really peaceful holiday in order to get away from it all, then this property and location is superb. A picnic down on the Dittisham green overlooking the estuary is recommended, with toilet facilities to boot. Should anyone wish to venture out from here, then Blackpool and Slapton sands with great cafe's are not far away. We've been here before and will be back again.
This was our third stay at Stella Maris and we enjoyed a comfortable and pleasant. It is apparent that the cottage is a home and touches such as a well stocked kitchen and lots of dvds and books for us and the children are very appreciated.
The property is a unique location in the beautiful village and where it lets itself down is the bedrooms and the remaining bathroom, the mattresses are poor and very hard, in the twin bed it bedroom the two mattresses smell of urine. The whole area is very bright but all the curtains are not proper blackout curtains and therefore sleeping is not good. The garden is a credit to the gardener who we've got to know over the last four or five years and he does a fantastic job, and we very much appreciate the view along with the garden. Both my wife and myself smelt again a urine smell in the lou...more
Comfortable home from home house in very convenient position just a few minutes walk from town centre. Having parking available is a plus but we found the garage narrow for VW Golf, a larger car would be a struggle to park & be able to open the door. Plenty to do in Dartmouth & on the water so we parked up & managed without car for most of the week. Enjoyable week , sun every day.
We have been visiting Dittisham for many years and stayed in different properties. Herons Reach has fantastic views across the river and plenty of outside space. The property was well equipped with lots of storage space. The aspect was super with the lounge and kitchen upstairs to make the most of the views. This property is one of the very few in the village with parking for two cars so that was a big advantage. The property needs a little updating and tlc as it does look a little knocked about, plus we had to spend time cleaning it on arrival. Having said that we will more than likely boo...more
This is a great apartment if all you want is a good view - the view from both lounge windows is excellent. However, there are many shortcomings: 1. I had to make a special request that towels were provided - this is the norm in all other places I've stayed at. The whole apartment feels tired and in need of attention - odd, random bits of furniture and cheap decor/ornaments. 2.Uncomfortable beds. 3. Heated by storage heaters - so you're either freezing cold or boiling hot - move into the 21st century! 4. Tiny, ancient TV for huge room + old DVD player that doesn't play blu ray. 5. Useless...more
We enjoyed our stay but there were a few 'housekeeping' issues such as dirty toilet brush (personally we don't think they should be used at all unless replaced every time). The kitchen edges of floor especially around the skirting and around router for internet looked as if they had not been cleaned for a while. We were also slightly disappointed that there were not any 'extras' included nor even a welcome pack. (No egg cups either). We have stayed in numerous 4 star cottages and have always had these. Some rooms could do with a facelift. We think the price should have warranted these ...more
The house and garden have a wonderful view of the Dart and out to sea. It is a real bonus to have both a garden and a car parking space!
We have friends that live in the village and this was an ideal property for us with three dogs. We had everything we needed and plenty of space. If I had to say a downside it would be that the property could do with a deep clean and a fresh lick of paint. Will we be staying again? Definitely!! thinking we will book again for next year. Kind regards Marion
Covers on sofas didn't fit .......................................................................................................................................
The house is in a great location and is very quaint. It does however need some work - the main bedroom is too small and the mattress is lopsided which was disappointing. It should have been changed. The front door is on it’s last legs - the lock is almost coming off and opening/closing it is hard. The outside toilet/shower is pretty filthy (it’s full of insects). Finally, the downstairs ceiling is leaking water where the bathroom is. Again - just quite poor really. I told the housekeeper but never heard anything back. I wouldn’t stay there again - it was quite a lot of money considering th...more
Property was comfortable but needed some updating. Lack of blind in bathroom - plain glass in top half of window!! Kitchen saucepans, plates etc. Very poor. Lack of teaspoons! Lots of switches on the walls but they weren't connected to anything!
On arrival at Willow Cottage we carried out the usual inspection and were dissatisfied with the cleanliness and the standard of the kitchen. Doors hanging off, microwave rusty, grubby interior in the drawers and cupboards. We contacted Dart Valley and after a couple of calls they offered us Primrose cottage which was next door to Willow, which we accepted.
