The Old Orchard was wonderful. The property is really well presented, very comfortable, wonderful small touches to make your stay relaxing. It was a perfect.
We had a lovely Stay at 4 heath rise. The property is well presented and nicely furnished and sits in a great location overlooking the breakwater. Kitchen is well equipped and it has a nice living area with comfortable sofa. The beds are nice and big and fairly comfortable although we found the mattress a little softer than we'd usually like. Would definitely stay again.
A very cosy perfect2 level apartment. Great location. Very relaxing and it was a little step out of our busy lives to relax!
Lovely property for a family break with a warm welcome from Bob & Georgia. Pretty much all that we needed was at hand and the garden provided a wonderful place to relax
Excellent property good location very well kept with everything you need. Two of the televisions did not work over the weekend, response from Dart Valley cottages was that it was not considered an emergency at the weekend, very disappointing response!!
We have used Dart Valley Cottages now for a number of years and always been happy with their service and properties. 8 Mayflower Court proved to be another triumph. A lovely immaculately clean spacious property offering everything you would need for a comfortable home from home feeling, and not forgetting that amazing view to look out on every day of our stay. Once again many thanks to the Dart Valley Cottage ream. Kind Regards Sandra and David
Ritson Farm is a great place to stay. It's very peaceful and we loved watching all the birds that visited the bird feeders right outside the kitchen window. Richard and Debbie are great host, very friendly and approachable. I would definitely stay here again.
Loved our stay at JC's Cabin. A very central location with the added bonus of a dedicated parking space, which is one of the main reasons we booked this property. When we arrived we were immediately struck by how light and modern the accommodation was. Our second impression was the excellent standard of cleanliness. The property was equipped with everything we needed for our stay. We also loved the large, comfortable bed. Would we stay here again? Most definitely!
This property was very clean, comfortable and in good location, with great views. Near parking and local pubs.
A lovely flat right in the centre of Dartmouth - perfectly situated for a short stay - would highly recommended.
A beautiful apartment, really well furnished in just a great location! Up on the second floor so not great for those with walking difficulties but it’s clearly advertised as such. Just lovely decor, interesting art even on the walk up! And then you get that picture window!!! Never bored of watching the lower ferry & boats go by just outside the window! And relax…! Great for the soul and just a lovely place to be! Bonus is the parking space, not huge but perfectly ok for a mid sized car! And a slight smell from the restaurant kitchen outside but absolutely nothing to detract from a fab pla...more
We had another wonderfully restful and relaxing stay at Curlew cottage this year. As before the cottage was spotlessly clean and the garden so peaceful. We love the personal touch that has gone into the decor to create an obviously well loved holiday home. The cottage has everything we needed for a fantastic holiday and we hope to be back next year.
Was second time with my family visiting port side , Very nice house in great location. Has it's own parking which is a good thing in this area. Had a lovely week stay at port side.
Comfortable house with great views of the river, you just have to be prepared for the steps to get into town.
Our stay at this lovely cottage was let down by poor preparation of the property and customer service. There was no heating on when we arrived and no means of turning it on, nothing in the fridge (no shop in the village to buy milk) and as we later realised no hot water. At the time there had been snow so the place felt cold and bleak - I asked for more logs (5 provided) and was told where to buy them… When I complained about the hot water/heating I was given instructions on how to turn it on and given the list of other things that should have been prepared ahead of our arrival (most of whi...more
This is our second time staying with dart valley cottages and again absolutely fantastic service. Crooks cottage is very sweet in a perfect location a stones throw from the pub and the cafe and the water . It’s tiny but got everything you need and amazing little garden out the back with view of the water. We loved our stay.
Would 100% recommend a stay at this property. The design and decor has been really thought through. A beautiful home that has everything you'll need for a comfortable holiday. The bubbles and other treats were a real bonus, including the secret garden. The owners clearly care about the people staying at their home enjoing the whole experience. Views are wonderful and just a short walk away from town. However, it is quite hilly and there are lots of steps, including stairs in property. A bonus for me as need to keep fit. Got talking to some neighbours who were very helpful about the roads, ...more
Had a fabulous few days at captains cottage. The property is spotlessly Clean, with everything you could wish for. Tasteful decor and beds were really comfortable with lovely linen. The cottage is in an excellent location, near to all facilities.. only negative is shared courtyard which is a big grim, but it didn’t bother us as didn’t need to use it and you don’t need to go through it at all of you don’t want to. Would, without question, book again!!! Super stay!
Perfect for us as we love our boating and being by the river is great. Super property with everything we need and very clean and comfortable. Love coming back to Dittisham as it is a very special place , so beautiful.
We visited for new year and felt at home as soon as we arrived. Lovely and clean all the expected amenities and comfy sofas. We brought some logs with us and used the wood burner which made it lovely and cosy. Very close to the harbour. The steps outside were not a problem and short walk to the car park, however it was difficult to get a space as was busy. Definitely recommend for a relaxing break.
The Wi-Fi didn’t work after all our efforts to fix it, I even reset it back to factory which should have reinstated the original password.. However, this didn’t spoil the holiday, but turned out to be the least of the problems. The downstairs bedroom remained musty as the radiator didn’t work at all, I tried bleeding it, and put the stat up to max, but still nothing. This will have contributed to the damp musty smell, that caused our friends wife to use one of the singles upstairs. Worst problem and really unacceptable was the shower. The upstairs one only works for a minute before ...more
Lovely place as always. Smart tv rather hard to understand!! Going back in September for another 2 weeks
A nice property in the centre of Dartmouth, well equipped with everything needed. If you want a special place to stay in the centre of Dartmouth you will not find a better place and it is next to the pub
This was our third stay in this property - it has everything we need in a wonderful setting. Thank you .
A brilliant little cottage in a fantastic location, easy access to great beaches and just a short walk to the Ham with its pubs as well as a short boat ride over to Dartmouth. We are originally from Devon so knew that Dittisham would be a great base, but for anyone unfamiliar with the South Hams we couldn’t recommend the location enough. The cottage itself was perfect for us as a couple with our small dog. The enclosed patio area made it easy for her to have safe outdoor access and the cottage was well equipped for having her with us. Damson Cottage was wonderfully clean and we were really...more
Superb property in fantastic position. It would be perfect if there was a toilet on the lower ground floor
The WiFi was poor , as a result the TV in the lounge was not able to be tuned, constant spooling . The wardrobe in the bedroom unable to hang your clothes ( strange set up ) !!
Perfect four bedroomed cottage for four mates on a golf trip couple of smashing pubs in walking distance or another just a couple of miles away lovely friendly people
We stayed here last September & enjoyed the property so much that we rebooked for this May. Unfortunately due to early sunrise (4.30ish) those of us sleeping in the 2 bedrooms with East facing windows were woken up daily by 5.30am, which is not what we want on holiday. This was caused 100% by the window blinds being inadequate in terms of blocking light. I sincerely hope the owners will resolve this issue. We would definitely not book the property again during the summer months unless it was resolved. Were it not for this issue I'd have given 5 all round. Otherwise it's a very nice qui...more
Excellent as ever. gggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg
We stayed here last year and we’re very happy so decided to book again for this year. We were disappointed from the onset when we arrived at 3 to find our villa not cleaned. We had got check in time wrong but we didn’t leave property until 3.25 after phoning dart valley and cleaners still weren’t there!!! How they thought they could efficiently and thoroughly clean a 3 story properly in half hour I don’t know! We had booked our food delivery for 4-5 and so we came back for 4pm when the food order came but cleaners STILL not finished. We were emptying food onto wet floors around cleaners…..ha...more
Lovely position and well kept. The veranda is perfect for sitting on a sunny day. All the cooking equipment you will ever need.. lounge a bit tired and TV small but nothing that would put me off staying here again.
We had a good short break at this cottage. Beautiful scenery and quaint village. We used all the local pubs and Anchorstone Cafe(shame it’s not open evenings!) We would have appreciated a complimentary welcome pack. Tea,coffee, herbs and spices and one toilet roll is not enough! Milk, bread and a bottle of wine would have been appreciated!
We had a wonderful few days in Dittisham, staying in Shippon Cottage. The cottage was in a perfect location and was well equipped with everything we needed as well as being spotlessly clean and very stylish. I would definitely recommend it to others. The only small criticism is that the wifi never worked which wasn’t a problem for us but could be for others.
Thanks for a wonderful long weekend at Dunedin. The cottage is beautifully equipped with sumptuous mattresses, and a fully kitted kitchen. The views from the front are devine and there’s everything you need to make your stay memorable.
Lovely apartment, in good position, minutes walk from the river and Bayards Cove. Plenty of lovely shops and eating places close by too and a lovely 5 minute walk into the town.
Thanks for my recent stay in Gull's Nest. All went very smoothly and the cottage is very well organised and comfortable. Someone had very kindly put up Christmas decorations and left some mulled wine and mince pies which I really appreciated. Just a couple of things. It would be good to have an extra duvet or heavy blanket. I was actually fine as I was there on my own so I just folded the double duvet in half to get two layers. But for two people in winter they may have been cold. Also your directions for getting there for car drivers seemed very good. I however came on public trans...more
Beautiful property which we have stayed at before. However,on arrival,we found a dirty t-towel left in the washing machine and several items of crockery left in the dishwasher (clean). I'd like to point out the 2 nails that are protruding near to the stairs on the left hand side on the ground floor. Lovely changes to the sofas and better layout in the lounge area.We found the wooden shelf in the upper bathroom awkward as the sink isn't big enough for brushing your teeth.More cereal bowls would be welcome as there were only 4 and there were 5 of us.Overall we had a lovely week at the property. ...more
Pipiriki is a 3 bedroom detached home with a large, steeply sloping, garden with waterside access in a stunning location in the lovely village of Dittisham. It has a parking space and parking is also available on the roadway. There is a village shop nearby in the Village pub and the excellent Ferry Boat Inn and Anchorstone Cafe are a short walk from the Cottage along the waterside or footway. The charming National Trust property, Greenway, is across the water reached by ferry boat and Dartmouth can also be reached by boat Ferry. Taxis also serve the Village and additionally we visited the loca...more
The views from Out To Sea are breathtaking. The steps up to the house and from Lower Town to Above Town can be challenging (!) so pace yourself. The house itself is comfortable and light. Obviously, you don’t go on holiday for the TV but some guidance on how to use the lounge TV would be useful. Not everyone will be used to the Amazon Fire Stick.
Lovely few days in a favourite part of the world Excellent little cottage, clean and tidy BUT couldn't find a teapot or cafetiere! One small but important omission......although your manual lists a vet there is no listing for local Taxis, Dr surgery, Medical centre or hospital. ( Even The Anchor Cafe has a list of Taxis!) Unfortunately i needed these as a small puncture wound from barbed wire wouldn't stop bleeding
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would go back. It was very well equipped but would have liked the provision of a DVD player, some kindling and firelighters but overall it was fantastic, especially the views. The house is central to the town so no need to use a car if you're staying local.
We loved our stay at The Nook. Perfectly situated in the quieter part of Dittisham at the top of the village within the sound of the church bells. So handy to have a parking space and the garden is lovely with a view over the river. We were lucky enough to eat out most days and it was incredibly peaceful with friendly neighbours. The cottage was very clean and well equipped. The stairs are very steep so may be difficult for those with limited mobility. A great location to tour around South Devon. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely large house, which we have stayed in before in the stunning peace village of Dittisham. Sleeps 8 comfortably(including bunk room). 2 showers, bath, and well equipped kitchen. Just a really lovely place to unwind. Upgrades since last stay much appreciated. Bunk beds fine for little kids but need new mattresses. DartValley cottages helpful and responsive as ever.
Excellent stay at Herons Reach Thanks Please just tell people where the bins are in the instructions
The property is in a great location for exploring the area. It is walking distance to a good pub and the passenger ferry to a number of locations including Dartmouth. If you have a paddleboard or canoe, don't forget to take them with you! We really enjoyed our stay, however the instructions for the key safe are not correct on the arrival details so it did take us a while to find the key! The property would also benefit from blackout curtains in the bedrooms as in the Summer it is very light in the morning which makes it difficult to have a lie in.
The cottage is very well equipped with everything we needed and very tastefully designed and decorated. We loved the hamlet of Tuckenhay and the location of the cottage , right on the river, is very special. We loved seeing the river in its different moods as the tide changed, and the profusion of bird life on the river was a joy. Very helpful agents.
Brilliant house and location. Great customer service from the Dart Valley Cottages team too. Would recommend.
My daughter had a cottage which was in excellent decorative order much better than our cottage, ours needed some TLC throughout. Excellent position overlooking the river Dart and close to town centre. I would recommend for a few nights stay
Lovely location, good pubs nearby, easy ferry rides across to Dartmouth. Parking in the car park very useful. House small but cosy for a short stay for two people. Good base for coastal path walks. No DVD player although listed in details and would benefit from a little more storage upstairs, a small chest of drawers would be useful. All in all a very enjoyable weekend.
Plus points - Fantastic location Spacious kitchen Big bathroom Negatives- No storage despite there being enough space to put it in. Lived out of suitcases for entire stay. Windows and fittings need repairing asap as they are in a bad state and dangerous. Bad sewage smell in hallway. Shower too low and the shower head leaks. Bath great but can’t put much water in before the hot water runs out. Toilet too close to sink, needs moving across. Bed too short and very poor quality. Light switches wired the wrong way. Carpet in main bedroom is a trip hazard Needs shutters or...more
A really nice property in a fab location. Lots of stairs/steps so not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. The property was clean and well equipped...some basic kitchen items such as kitchen roll, salt and pepper, foil, oil would have been useful (most self catering places have these nowadays). There is a lot of space, so it would be suitable for 3 couples easily, which makes it good value. Overall we would recommend this property
Big Georgian house, lots of space but needs a lot of TLC. Dreadful bathrooms. Not bad bedrooms. Excellent location. Good job it was sunny as house very depressing. Not enough crockery and glasses for 8 people. Hard to recommend it in spite of the location.
It's a pretty cottage in a lovely position. Immaculately clean and tidy and very comfortable. Warm and cosy with plenty of hot water, an effective wood-burning stove. We were a family of four, and it suited us. I am confident in summer; the beautiful garden and patio area are a real treat. Very close to the car park for loading and unloading the car. I would highly recommend it.
This was our first stay at Holly Cottage and we found it delightful. We were surprised how much sun reached the two terraces which allowed us to sit and eat outside most evenings. Despite the location directly off the street the raised terrace at the front still had a sense of privacy and the “secret” terrace at the back provided a fantastic high level viewpoint. The kitchen and sitting room were spacious and very comfortable. And being able to carry our paddle board just a few yards down to the river at high tide was ideal. We hope to return next year.
Fabulous views and great location. A charming house, pretty well equipped and comfortable. The outside space, especially at the rear needs significant attention so don’t plan to sit outside. It’s really quite a mess and we were disappointed having selected a stay with outside space. General maintenance is required; lose tap in bathroom, chair leg almost falling off, almost every blind broken or shoddy. Refill your diffusers too. This place needs checking over - oh and scissors in the kitchen would be great!
The cottage is quiet with lovely views across the orchard towards the river, and to the church. It has a nice garden and terrace. It was clean and comfortable with pleasant furnishings. However, it needs attention to the damp, possibly rot, in the downstairs toilet, as well as some blown out double glazing units. The parking was really convenient. We would happily stay again if visiting the area.
The view was fantastic. However, we arrived just after the stated time to find the cleaners still there manically cleaning. Not their fault, as it seems the previous occupants had left it in a state. (We had this happen at our previous Dart Valley cottage stay). We had to clean plates and cutlery again as they were dirty - again not the cleaners fault. One error is there was a real lack of storage for clothes. In the main bedroom, yes there was a wardrobe but there was ample rooms under the bed for there to be storage boxes available for our clothes. The 2nd bedroom had zero storage for cl...more
Lovely cosy cottage with character. Garden needs tlc and could do with a garden table. Otherwise lovely!
We loved this property. It is full of character and has a fantastic view at all times of day and indeed night! The choice of paintings and artifacts is interesting. I would hate to see this property "blandified" but some tlc wouldn't go amiss. It is really close to town and the coast path. Dartmouth can get very busy during the day but School Steps provided a haven.
The BBQ was so dirty it was unusable. The Aga was also very dirty . Although there were only 2 of us staying so it didn’t matter but the second bedroom had nowhere to hang or lay clothes.
The beds were very soft. Not good for golfers backs. Well set out cottage and every thing you need. Service and staff at hotel were excellent.
Unfortunately I need to give my first bad review. The basic cleaning (bathrooms, sink) was excellent, but in my view the kitchen was absolutely terrible. The stove was covered in grease and cobwebs, with the baking tray drawer and extractor hood untouchable, (ignition switch not working so long handled lighter supplied), green mould growing on the utensils, grease spots on the under cabinet lighting (which didn't work), cupboard interiors grey. The whole room needs a complete deep clean which we didn't want to have the inconvenience of during our stay. Dirty mark on the seat of a lounge chair...more
