Curlew Cottage is a picturesque holiday cottage with stunning views of the river and surrounding valley from the garden, conservatory, and master bedroom. In the delightful waterside village of Dittisham, Curlew is pet friendly and perfectly equipped for four guests to enjoy a relaxing self-catering holiday. It’s just a short walk to the village and the quay where you can catch the ferries to Dartmouth and Greenway or stay and enjoy the locally renowned Anchorstone Café and Ferry Boat Inn.

Curlew Cottage is the perfect place to relax, unwind and get away from it all. A beautifully presented property with fabulous views from the garden and main bedroom. Had all the amenities we needed. 10 minute walk downhill to the Ferry Boat Inn on the river for delicious pizzas, the Anchorstone Cafe for a seafood lunch and more fantastic views. Steep walk back up to the cottage but worth the effort! Easy to get ferries to and from Dartmouth so can leave the car behind. We had an excellent stay, really recharged the batteries. Highly recommend Curlew Cottage.

We had a really lovely stay at Curlew Cottage and loved being in Dittisham which is a thriving little village. We were 2 adults and 2 teens (plus a dog) and the cottage was cosy but big enough for the 4 of us.
The view from the house and garden was amazing and we made the most of it by spending our time in the conservatory and garden.
Curlew cottage was really comfortable and well equipped with everything we needed for the week.

My only minor negative is that a welcome hamper would have been a nice touch :-)

The cottage was comfortable and cleaned very well with the exception of the carpet in the front room which had an enormous, very off-putting stain. We moved a floor mat to cover the stain for the remainder of our stay but it was an unfortunate first impression and gave us a rather yucky feeling. Not good! The front room felt rather dreary and generally could use a little spruce-up, we spent no time in it. Bedrooms cheerful and very clean. Ditto bathroom. Didn't use the shower as it felt odd to shower in the bedroom! The conservatory was where we spent the most time, lovely garden (I did some geranium deadheading and hydrangea watering!) and those incredible views. Kitchen well appointed but could use a colander and a few pieces of Tupperware. Rubbish collection rather odd - when we went into the garden to remove the bin in order to put our week's rubbish out before departing we discovered that it was full of the previous renter's rubbish! So we put that out along with ours in a rubbish bag as soon as we heard the rubbish truck approaching but they would not take the bagged rubbish, only the binned .. so we put our rubbish in the bin and placed it back in the garden.

Lovely views from the rear of the property with a lovely garden. More comfortable chairs in the conservatory that could recline would be beneficial. The kitchen appliances were not very good quality, the hob took ages to heat anything up as did the cooker.

We had another wonderfully restful and relaxing stay at Curlew cottage this year. As before the cottage was spotlessly clean and the garden so peaceful. We love the personal touch that has gone into the decor to create an obviously well loved holiday home. The cottage has everything we needed for a fantastic holiday and we hope to be back next year.

Great cottage in a lovely little village. He most stunning view from the garden and the top floor windows. Easy pretty walks down to the River Dart. Ease of access to the Ferry for water trips to the other side or Dartmouth. Doggie loved it too. The road in and out of Dittisham is single track in parts so just have to be cautious when driving.

Cottage certainly lived up to expectations. Helped by the sunny and warm weather during our stay, we loved our two weeks here. View from the garden is simply stunning, cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the beautiful River Dart, using the little and bigger ferries on the river to get to and from Greenway and Dartmouth. So much to see and do in this beautiful part of the country. We will be back!

We’ve stayed at many places around the United States and around the world, and Curlew Cottage in Dittisham is one of the nicest places we’ve ever stayed. The house is so extremely well appointed. The kitchen had all the dishes and pots and pans and utensils you could ever want. The appliances were all modern. Cleaning supplies and laundry detergent was supplied. The bathrooms were spotless and well supplied, too. We spent much of our 5 days there sitting in the sun room or out in the back garden. Others have commented on the steep stairs to the bedrooms. My wife and I are pushing 80 and they didn’t bother us. The village of Dittisham is kind of small and isolated. But we enjoyed strolling around the village and taking trips to places like Dartmouth, Brixham, and Looe. One word of warning. The roads leading into and out of Dittisham are frequently just one narrow lane. And it could be kind of scary negotiating those narrow lanes with traffic coming the opposite way.

Curlew is our current favourite - fantastic view, comfortable and well-equipped. A few suggestions: a dishwasher would be great / hot water for bath requires Immersion heater to be on permanent / fridge door is easy not to close properly, so contents are not cooled enough sometimes - and we needed to scrape ice from back. A hose pipe would be useful ( dog spray down in garden ).

Curlew Cottage was exactly how it had been described - there was nothing disappointing about it at all and I wanted for nothing more while I was there - except maybe for larger bath towels! It was perfectly equipped for 4 people, you wouldn't have wanted anyone over for supper as it really was catered just for 4. The quality of the sheets were so nice which really makes a difference and the pillows very comfortable. It was a great place to write - which is why I was there for nearly a month. Very peaceful and lovely walks. I would highly recommend. My 83 year old Mum came and stayed and I would say that the hills back-up from the river were too much for her and she is very fit.

We had a really relaxing couple of weeks at Curlew Cottage.
The location was really close to the centre of Dittisham but still very quiet and the view from the garden as spectacular as before.
The cottage was really clean and well presented with everything that we needed for our holiday.

This was our second time to Curlew cottage. It is well presented internally and has a lovely garden with the most amazing views of the river Dart. Upstairs has two good size bedrooms with luxurious White Co bedding, so beds are really comfortable. The stairs are very steep which is nice and quirky and makes you appreciate how old the property is, but May not be suitable for elderly or very young children. Downstairs the lounge is a bit dark, but on both stays we have never used the lounge as the property has a wonderful conservatory at the back - who wants to sit and watch TV when you can spend your evening watching the wide variety of birds fly past and enjoy what’s happening on the river below.

Curlew Cottage makes for a good autumnal break, with its cosy living room, stacked with wood for the fire, and it’s airy conservatory with lovely views of the Dart. All very clean and well looked after. Nice kitchen, tastefully modernised. The main bedroom is a little on the small side, but the wonderful outlook on to the river makes up for that. A dishwasher, and heating in the conservatory would add to the appeal.

Excellent venue.. with stunning views of the River Dart at the rear of the property. The Kitchen is well fitted, the bedrooms are of a good size and the veranda at the back of the property is an excellent size.

The lounge is cosy and has an open fire ( perfect for an Autumn evening in...)
The Veranda could do with some form of heating as we would have used it more
The venue does have challenging steps and stairs if you are unstable on you legs .. having said that We would highly recommend this property.

We had a great stay for the week beginning 21st August. The phenomenal views over the Dart from the back of the house make the stay memorable. The conservatory was ideal for feeding baby, distance working (wifi was satisfactory) and evening meals. The kitchen radiator and the bathroom towel rail provided the perfect heat to dry out baby clothes and wet raincoats. Wonderful hot water and kitchen layout were comfortable. Induction cooker takes time to get used to if not familiar with it. Some of us found the bath plug a bit confusing. Slight lack of cooking things and cups etc due to Covid 19 arrangements.

Nice privacy in the back garden, we were in and out and around and it was a welcome space and of course the view.
Sometimes we parked in Riverside Road and at times we were able to park near the house which was handy for packing up.

We had a lovely week in Curlew Cottage. It’s a perfect location overlooking the river Dart ,we spent most evenings having dinner in the conservatory with stunning views and we also enjoyed having a drink in the nicely kept little garden too The cottage was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Some things had been taken away due to Covid but it didn’t matter. We would def return and stay there again, hopefully next year.

Lovely cottage, shame about the builders as it was difficult to park and we thought going in the winter it would be easy. everything in cottage was good clean and comfortable. Lovely views from conservatory, just a pity it was not heated and then we could have spent more time out there.

Teh village is lovely but again, pubs do not cater for winter visitors

Wonderful holiday cottage with once again excellent and professional service from Dart Valley Cottages.
The property was stunning with wonderful views over the River Dart. The property had everything you needed and was well placed to walk into the pretty village of Dittisham.

On arrival there was a tea tray set with shortbread biscuits which we felt was a lovely touch. Every room was spotlessly clean and the garden a delight too.

Curlew Cottage was perfect. It was presented to a very high standard with everything we needed and more. We had 4 perfect nights sleep in a very comfortable bed with beautiful linen. The view from the garden and the back bedroom window was stunning. It was just a shame that the weather was awful for the whole of our stay.

Only minor negative was that we arrived on a very cold day and it would have been more welcoming if the heating had been on. Also the back bedroom window had been left wide open so when we initially opened the door to go upstairs it felt like the roof had blown off! The cottage did, however, warm up overnight and was then really cosy. We would to go back when we can take advantage of the garden and conservatory to enjoy the peace and amazing views of the beautiful River Dart.

Last minute booking then a change of accommodation but we were so glad it was changed. Fabulous cottage with outstanding views.Spotlessly clean with quality bed linen and towels.Weather was mixed for us but having the conservatory was a real bonus ,watching the tidal changes in the estuary ,the wildlife and the weather was so relaxing.Who needs a screen.Curlew cottage was thoughtfully equipped for all your needs.Friendly locals in a very pretty village on the doorstep to so many stunning places to see,too many to choose from.Ronnie the black lab was very happy but exhausted and it was so lovely to stay in quality accommodation with your dog and be welcome with him in so many other places.
The booking process was very straightforward and we would definitely consider using Dart Valley cottages again.
Thank you .

Our 2nd visit to this cottage. Very comfortable stay; fantastic views of tidal estuary; easy walk / drive / ferry to all necessary facilities. Love the area. Our stay was marred by neighbouring building works commotion from 0800 to 1700 on 6 of 7 days; we feel we should have been informed of these works before committing to this stay.

My sister and I had a lovely break in Curlew Cottage. It's very pretty and comfortable and we had glorious weather and so spent our breakfasts and evenings in the garden enjoying the wonderful views. We heard curlews every evening and were treated to spellbinding aerial displays from the swifts. The conservatory was a real boon. All in all a delightful cottage.

Relaxation from the minute we walked through the door.

The cottage itself is beautifully decorated, so well equipped and spotlessly clean.

But the view - fantastic at all times of day and in all weathers.

This was our third visit for good reason - we can't think of a better place to relax and unwind.

Dittisham itself is delightful and there is always something to do or watch on the river - also very dog friendly.

This is the second time we have stayed at this lovely cottage in the lovely village of Dittisham. It is so peaceful and relaxing with fantastic views of the Dart. We stayed with our two children and our dog. There are some really lovely walks to enjoy in the area. We will be returning again.

Very comfortable cottage in a great village location with views across the beautiful River Dart to Stoke Gabriel.
The cottage is very clean, warm, cosy and furnished to a high specification. There are some great books about the local area which we enjoyed reading by the log fire.
Within easy walking distance to pubs, shop and restaurant in Dittisham.
Good access to many great walks, South Hams beaches, Dartmouth, Dartmoor.
Any downsides.... bath towels are very small, no dishwasher, no guaranteed parking and steep, winding stairs to bedrooms.
However, we would highly recommend a stay in this cottage and hope to book another stay soon.

A lovely characterful cottage - cosy and warm and very well-equipped. Beautiful views over the estuary. We stayed in December but it would be wonderful to stay in summer and use the garden overlooking the river.
